synopsis: kate gets jealous <3

kate had an event with her team this weekend. some sort of fancy gala to kick start the season, you think. kate hadn’t told you much about it, just that it was a very elegant event and that she wanted you there. and of course you accepted.
you had bought a dress just for the occasion after raiding your closet and realizing you didn’t have anything fancy enough. you opted for a floor length gown, black to match kate’s suit. the neck line had a bit of a dip, which you were hesitant about, but kate assured you it was perfect. “easy access for later” she said.
6 o’clock rolled around, friday night crowds bustling about outside your apartment. you and kate were in the bedroom getting ready to go to the gala. you were still in pajamas, sat at the vanity to do your hair and makeup. kate was busying herself with the cuffs of her blazer. once the last curl fell gently off the iron, you brushed out your hair and ducked into the bathroom to change. it was a stunning dress, really, long and satin with straps looping around your shoulders. the fabric hugging all of your curves so delicately. plus the neckline was definitely doing you favors.
when you emerged, dress zipped up and hair cascading around your face, kate stood waiting. she looked up upon your arrival, lips slowly parting as she took in every inch of you.
“you look absolutely breathtaking” she managed to say, having been absolutely speechless at the sight of you.
“thanks, babe” you smiled, putting on your heels so you could leave the apartment on time. “you ready?”
you attempted to walk past her to grab your bag from the vanity, but she stopped you, hands finding the small of your back.
“you know on second thought,” she purred into your ear “maybe we should just stay home, i’m sure they won’t notice”
she lets her hands wander. her fingers toying with zipper of the gown as you rolled your eyes playfully.
“as much as i would love to stay home with you,” you said “i think the gala will be fun!”
“alright, alright, but this thing is coming off the second we get back, got it?”
“yes m’am”
and with that, you were out the door and headed to the gala.

the night was going wonderfully, you and kate were having plenty of fun, just as you thought. you caught up with kate’s team and made polite conversation with a few of their partners. kate met with some people as well, discussing her stats and such. things were going smoothly.
you were finishing up a conversation with caitlin, retiring to the bar where kate sat looking for you. she was on her phone, scrolling mindlessly when you took the seat next to her.
“hey, baby” you put your hand on her shoulder “what’re you up to?”
“just responding to some things and waiting for you, lost you back there” she kissed your forehead as you snuck a sip of her drink.
“yea sorry, caitlin pulled me aside earlier to-” you started to tell kate about the conversation you had when you were abruptly interrupted by a tap on your shoulder.
you turned your head around to see a woman, yours and kate’s age, standing behind you. she was tall, blonde, and very pretty. she had a gown on as well. hers about the same length, but pink and strapless. the woman had a nervous smile on her face as she caught your attention.
“hi, oh my god i’m sorry but i just wanted to ask you about your dress!” she stuttered “it’s so beautiful you look absolutely stunning!”
you smiled, relieved it wasn’t some creep approaching you at the bar “wow thank you so much, that’s so sweet of you! yea it’s from bergdorf goodman!”
the woman took the seat next to you, extending her arm to introduce herself “i’m madeline, by the way! i’ve never heard of that brand before, but it seems like their work is incredible!”
you introduced yourself as well, accepting her hand shake. she seemed like such a nice person and you were so flattered that she thought your dress was beautiful. you indulged in light chit chat, telling her about the details of the dress. you told her about how hard it was to get the measurements right and how the straps were so cute, but a pain to get over your shoulders. it was an extremely pleasant conversation.
while you were engaging with madeline, kate sat on the opposite side of you, jaw clenched and lips pursed. she was slightly livid to say the least. she was not very happy with the fact the some other tall blonde was calling you gorgeous, that job was meant for her and for her only.
she hated the way that the woman sat down next to you, someone who was clearly occupied with her girlfriend. she was totally stealing your attention away while you were in the middle of a conversation. kate was irked by the way you just rolled with it, letting the girl shower you in compliments.
who did this girl think she was?
“oh, let me introduce you to kate” you gestured toward her “she’s-”
“i’m her girlfriend” kate cut in, giving the girl a tight lipped smile.
“very nice to meet you” she nervously smiled, a bit put off by kate’s sudden attitude.
you, too, were caught off guard by her response. kate was just fine two second ago and now she was acting snarky with this very kind woman. it was incredibly unlike her.
you shook it off and tried to continue your conversation with madeline. as she chatted with you about one of her friends, an upcoming designer that was interning in paris, you felt kate’s shoulder come in contact with yours. she removed her hand from their place in her pockets, sliding them over to your thigh and giving it a squeeze. you took it as a comforting act, knowing she liked to remain close to you. then she lowered her head, placing a frail kiss to your shoulder, clear for everyone to see. her hands were beginning to move up and down the length of your leg as she continued to trail kisses along your clavicle. she was never this crude in public.
you tried to lightly shove her away, trying to tell her this wasn’t the time. but she continued anyways, hands wandering to other places. poor madeline caught the hint, quickly making up an excuse to leave before she could finish her story.
“it was a pleasure meeting you, YN” she said “thanks for the details on the dress, i’ll definitely look into that brand!”
she scurried away and made her way to another table of attendees. you could only imagine how mortified she was by kate’s behavior.
“what are you doing?!” you whisper shouted into kate’s ear, nearly pushing her off you and out of her chair.
“what do you mean what am i doing?” she shrugged “i’m just trying to kiss you, is that a crime?”
“that wasn’t ‘just trying to kiss me’ and you know it.” you were pretty ruffled given the tone of your voice. “you hate being touchy in public, why are you all over me all of the sudden?”
“well because clearly…” she drawled out her sentence “some people can’t take a hint”
“wha- can’t take a hint? kate, baby i’m lost”
“oh come on” she crossed her arms matter of factly “madeline or whatever her name is? you can’t tell me she wasn’t trying to get in your pants”
you raise your eyebrows at her, close to laughing in her face “kate, oh my god”
“comes over here calling you gorgeous and inserting herself into a conversation? give me a break”
“sounds like someone’s jealous” you sing songed, poking at her chest. “you jealous honey?”
she sneered “no! when have i ever been jealous? i dont get jealous”
“apparently when i talk to other women, you do” you teased “it’s ok to be jealous kate. i like it when you’re jealous”
she quirked a brow “you do?”
“definitely” you smirked, reaching over to her, putting your hands on her thigh like she had done to you. under the overhang of the bar counter, you continued to trail up her leg as you felt her breathe hitch and body tense “but i’d prefer if you showed it to me in private”
she gulped deeply when you removed your hand and slid off your seat, motioning for her to take you home. “someone promised me that they’d be taking this dress of my by the end of the night, if i’m remembering correctly?”
she chewed at the inside of her cheek to suppress a groan. she followed you, leading you to the exit.
“let me take you home, YN”

as for your question, the answer is both yes and no. yeosang has essentially become darling’s living, breathing pillow and naps by the fire with her favourite werewolf have become so commonplace that it’s no longer a surprise to hongjoong and seonghwa when they walk into the living room to see the two of your sprawled out on top of the rug. most of the time yeosang stays awake, his eyes big and wide as he watches you sleep. it’s sweet to see him so taken by you, but if joong or hwa ever ask any questions, he’s spitting out some sort of sarcastic response in a desperate attempt to hide the fact that he’s loving having you nap on him.
“you think i like being used as a pillow for this brat? please, she’s so wriggly when she sleeps; it’s annoying.”
darling will never sleep in yeosang’s room at night, though. there’s multiple reasons but yeosang would argue that the main one is that he won’t allowed her too. like he says, she’s wriggly and he’s willing to accept that when she insists on napping with him downstairs, but in his own bed? no way. besides, hongjoong gets moody when he wakes up without either of his lovers by his side. it’s happened before where he woke up to find that darling wasn’t there. in a panic he woke up seonghwa, only for her to return from the bathroom seconds later. he gave her curt remarks about being abandoned for the rest of the day until seonghwa stepped in to put a stop to his ridiculous attitude.

“She say anything today?”
“Ellie.”
“What? I gotta stay in the know. The stakes are kinda high here.” She shakes her head at the girl, turning back to Maria to take a squirming Libby off her hands. Maria chuckles.
“Sorry, kid. No words on my watch. Though she’s becoming quite the escape artist now that she’s walking.” She furrows her brow at that as she hoists Libby a bit further up her hip.
“She wasn’t any trouble, was she? I know she’s becoming harder to catch. Took off on Joel upstairs yesterday, he had to grab her before she tried to go down the stairs on her own.” Ellie snorts, making faces at Libby over her shoulder while Maria shakes her head.
“No, she’s never any trouble, you know that. Though she’s certainly a pistol, gotta wonder where she gets it from.” They share a knowing smile before saying goodbye, her and Ellie trudging through the snow back across the way to their own house, Libby tucked into her side.
Maria has been a godsend since she started picking up patrol shifts again, something Joel balked at initially. It was only a few days a week and she had been insistent that she needed to start getting out of the house again after their girl’s first birthday two months ago. Maria had willingly fit her own schedule around hers, watching Libby while she was on shift, and in turn, she had been watching her boy while Maria was working.
When they get home, Ellie helps unbutton Libby from her makeshift winter coat that their neighbor had stitched together from an old snowsuit, continuously murmuring as she works.
“Libs, you gotta help me out here. There’s a record player on the line, for crying out loud. Tell you what, if you say my name first, I’ll let you listen to records whenever you want.” She fixes Ellie with an unamused look as she takes Libby from her.
“That’s generous of you, kid, considering you and Joel have turned her into a gambling chip.” Ellie just shrugs.
“It’s not gambling if I know I’m gonna win. No way Libs says Joel’s name first. I’ve been training her.”
“Well, that’s cheating if I ever heard it.” They both turn around to see Joel standing in the doorway to the kitchen with his hands on his hips. He clearly just got home from his own shift, jacket still on, snow melting in his silvery hair. She shuffles over to him with a scoff and he immediately dips to press kisses to their girl’s cheeks.
“Joel, you’re one to talk. I’ve heard you up in the nursery a few times now, trying to get Libby to say your–” he cuts her off with a hard, smacking kiss that Ellie dramatically gags at before breezing past them both into the kitchen.
“I’m starving. What’s for dinner?” She shares a look with Joel at Ellie’s question, and they nearly answer simultaneously.
“Leftovers.”
…
Before the end of the world, she barely knew how to cook. She was a college student, for christ’s sake, and the closest she got to cooking was nuking instant oatmeal in the microwave in her dorm. Then, all those years in the QZ and on the road, it had just been about getting in whatever calories she could scrounge together. Things are different now in Jackson, and she’s had to learn fast how to get food on the table. Joel is helpful, but often hopeless, and Ellie would eat expired beefaroni for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if left to her own devices. Winter, like right now, is easy. She’ll just throw a bunch of vegetables and meat into a pot until something resembling soup comes together, enough to feed all of them for the week along with a loaf or two of bread she trades for with one of their neighbors.
It’s just such a meal that they sit down to tonight, all of them tearing off hunks of bread to soak up broth and fill their stomachs as they murmur about their days. Baby food has been a whole other ball game, but she’s gotten the hang of it, currently spooning mashed carrots and applesauce into her girl’s mouth as Joel and Ellie continue to gripe about their bet.
“Kid, what do you even want the record player for? Last I checked, you don’t have any records.” Ellie huffs, speaking around a mouthful of bread.
“That’s not true! I’ve been looking for them on patrol and have a little stash going too. You just won’t acknowledge it ‘cause it’s not that country shit you like.” Joel grumbles.
“Language. And my taste in music is just fine. I don’t need any of that crappy pop jangling you like.”
“Uh, it’s not pop. The album sleeves say it’s alternative.” Joel huffs at that, mumbling a “lord help me” under his breath as they continue bickering. She, however, is trying to listen to Libby’s babbling through the nonstop din of their squabbling, because she swears that she hears something that will settle this damn bet, once and for all.
“Will you two shut up for a minute?” Her sudden outburst sends Joel and Ellie into a stuttering stop, Libby continuing to babble. She grins when, sure enough, her girl says exactly what she thought she heard.
“M-mama– mama.” She swears both Joel’s and Ellie’s jaws drop on the ground while she laughs, picking Libby up out of her highchair and smattering kisses on her cheeks. Her girl dissolving into giggles in her lap, she finally fixes Joel and Ellie with the smuggest look she can work up.
“Does this mean I get the record player?”

tonight was no different, you were spending the night over at his, enjoying each other’s company like you usually would as he games on his computer and you read your favorite book. wonwoo enjoyed it because he liked to listen to you update him about things happening in your book, even though he didn’t know the plot. he just liked to listen.
“here, i brought you some water,” you set down a glass of water on his desk, careful to put it somewhere he won’t knock it over. “you’re not streaming are you?”
wonwoo smiles at your graciousness, illuminated by the light of the animal crossing game on his computer. “no, no, not today.”
you stand behind him, your book under your arm as you watch him.
you watch the screen as his character talks to your favorite character, daisy. “aw, i love her, she’s so cute. i used to have her in my island but she eventually left…” you say, your free hand coming up to run your fingers through wonwoo’s hair.
you brush his hair back to watch it fall back onto his forehead, and you do it multiple times before he says something.
“what are you doing?” wonwoo asks, smiling as you’re just mindlessly playing with his hair.
“oh, sorry, i’ll stop if i’m being annoying.” you joke, fixing his hair as best as you can after you ruffled it up.
“no, no keep doing it,” wonwoo laughs. “i didn’t say i didn’t like it.”

While you may hardly have noticed your husband's absence just a year ago, his lack of presence is like a void now. You know, logically, that he's likely alright. He's not in some far-flung corner in the galaxy. He's merely on the other side of the planet, on maneuvers with his men.
Still, you can't help but wonder if he's alright. If something were to go wrong, how would you know? Who would tell you?

When you hear the click of the door lock a day sooner than you're meant to, you leap up out of your seat, practically charging down the hall. You hardly get a glimpse at Gurney before you're wrapping your arms around his shoulders, drawing him close. You hear the clatter of Gurney's things hitting the floor, and the thud of the door shutting behind him before he takes hold of you.
"Are you alright?" You mumble.
"I am. Are you?"
"'m fine. Just missed you something fierce."
"I missed you, too, sweet girl."
You smooth a hand up his back, resting it on his nape and allowing your eyes to close. You revel in the feeling of his body against yours, the rise and fall of his chest as he draws in a deep breath. You turn your head, peppering kisses along the side of his face, elating in the feeling of his cheek shifting as he smiles. He tips his head toward yours, pecking your lips gently, then leaning in for another kiss. You sigh softly, smoothing your fingers through his closely-cropped hair.
"You ought not hold me too long," He warns against your lips. You draw back just a touch, expression twisting in confusion before he adds, "I smell like a goat."
You giggle, cupping his cheek.
"Not nearly as bad. But I won't begrudge your cleaning up."
You step back, taking hold of his hand, urging him on before he can take his things up.
"I'll take care of them," You add, glancing back toward him. Gurney squeezes your hand, raising it to press a kiss to it.
"You're too good to me."
"Hardly," You mumble, turning away as your face heats at his tender praise. You lead the way into the bathroom and let go, walking to the tub and turning on the taps. You sit on the edge, adjusting the temperature and running your fingers under the stream to ensure it's not too hot. You glance back, gaze sweeping Gurney's body as he undresses. You avert your eyes again as he turns toward you.
"Set?" You ask.
"Yes."
You smile as he leans down, pressing a kiss to your cheek. You reach back patting his cheek gently. His beard is overgrown a touch, but you don't mind it a bit.
"Take your time," You urge as you stand. "I'll start dinner."
Gurney doesn't let you go right away, instead resting his hands on your hips and drawing you close. Your gaze slips closed as his lips brush yours, then press warmly. You groan softly, sliding your hands over his biceps.
"You're certain you can't join me?" He murmurs, toying with the tie on the back of your dress. You blink up at him, at his sweet, desirous eyes, then bite your lip and nod a little.
"I suppose I could be persuaded."

Why do I feel like Jake would be so smug that he got you pregnant? Like he would see your bump growing and be like ‘yea… I did that’. When he sees you do the pregnancy waddle around your house he always gets a ‘stupid’ grin on his face and just has to stop and admire you, the love of his life, growing your sweet little angel.
But also like when you tell him, he would be OVER THE MOON. He would have the best reaction- I’m talking tears in his eyes, kissing you, kissing your still ‘flat’ stomach, picking you up and spinning you around, jumping for joy, the whole nine yards. He would also constantly ‘casually’ mention that you guys are expecting in any conversation he can. Like even to the daggers who are well aware that you are pregnant and have been for a while, he keeps ‘subtlety’ brining it up any chance he can. He also just HAS to tell the workers at the local coffee shop, the gas station attendants, the mail carrier, etc etc. This man is literally shouting ‘my wife is pregnant and I love her so much’ from the rooftops.
He would make sure you have a whole wardrobe of maternity clothes that accentuate your bump. if he had a favorite bump accentuating dress of yours, he would beg you to wear it to the hard deck when you meet up with the daggers or on date night or even if you have to drop something off on base for him.

Eren: thisss is the one right heree (my man Fr😫)!! he's literally OBSESSED with you and your culture, sharing info w him and teaching him things is SO EASY and he catches on soo quick 🥺.
this man will massage oil into your scalp every other night and buy silk pillowcases just to protect your hair, so when he spots you in your shared kitchen one night with jasmin rice and your phone propped up playing a yt tutorial, he wasn't so surprised that you were concoctioning up something for your hair (again🫶🏾).
he'll grab you by your love handles and snuggle his chin into the curve of your neck,, "baby whatchu making?", he's so sweet but so unaware of the chaos that's bout to ensue 😂. you turn your head to kiss him on the nose and tell him that it's just another product for your hair, and he surely regretted trusting you on that one.
he saw you put the container of rice and water it in the back of your bathroom cabinet, and the within the next few days he forgot about it,, that was until he saw you three days later in the bathroom.
sleepily going up to hug you and bring you back to bed, he stopped in his tracks when he smelt that god awful vinegary smell of rice water. "yoo WTF Is that smell" he gagged into his shirt while scrunching up his face.
it was tooo funny and he's literally so dramatic when he finds out it's that stuff you made days ago in the kitchen. When he got used to the smell he calmed down but you are NOTT allowed back in the room till that shits washed out your hair!! 😂😂

Armin: poor baby he doesn't know what he's in for walking into the bathroom expecting it to be the normal routine of you doing your hair 😭. he normally likes watching you do your hair,, sitting on the tub ledge when you suspiciously brought out a liquid-filled container from under the counter.
setting it on aside on the counter and continuing on with your wash day, he began to dismiss and even forget all about the strange liquid- well thats until you reached to open it of course.
you see, armin is such a kind, helpful, and supportive boyfriend so it wouldn’t come off as a shock that when he saw you struggling to open the lid he kindly offered his help. and like the idiot he was, he lifted the jar up to his chest, press down, and popped the lid open with ease.
“thankk you bab”- “OH MY GODD BABE WHAT IS THATTT..” armin yelled and damn near dropped the container as he was handing it to you. (😂🤦🏾♀️)
he quickly pinched the collar of his shirt over his nose harshly glaring at you. “baby its my rice water” you laugh out. at first he goes and positions himself by the door, still watching you do your hair. but when his legs get tired he has no other choice but to resume his seat on the ledge.
continuing to spectate he asked all sorts of questions about this so called “rice water” and it was annoying you to the point where you couldn’t focus on your hair. “boy this is not 21 questions ask me laterr my arms are tiredd and i’m hungry.” you whine, prompting armin to give you a sad puppy face. sad face gets to you and you end up telling him all apart the hair growth recipe (armin: 1 you: 0 😤)
(he doesn’t let you come near him until he sees you wash it out though)
after wash day though he gives you all the kuddles n kisses. <3
