People need to talk about modders more, like of course people have their haha funny meme mods, a couple of textures, and maybe a slight model exit (,oh, those are crazy already)

But no-one ever seems to mention the ones who do behind the scenes to make that work, or the hud modders.

And biggest for me personally, the mad lass who can crack open basically any game to modded characters it seems, wistfulhopes, or on Twitter Ryn🏳️‍⚧️ on Twitter.

She literally added Sin (before he was added officially) Goku, and Android 16 to the game! Not to mention the shaders! People literally accused her of working at arcsys, but I rarely see her mentioned outside of the comments of a offasional, haha Goku funny clip, and I haven't seen Jack about Android 16.

Literally the only negative thing I could think would be man, it would've been cool to see her version of sin in game against sin.

Also like, she's the one that just cracked rising thunder open, and ported Ryu after YEARS!

You know how crazy everyone went over new character slots for UMVC3?

SHE DID THAT FOR FIGHTERZ! And there's already a guy who made a (unreleased) Strive sol in FIGHTERZ mod.

(now I just can't wait for her ragna in strive, and nago in XRD mods to come out)

Oh yeah, I forgot, she got a full on modloader and model swaps in XRD, and showed it off with a johnny mod for XRD replacing him with ultrakill's V1.

The big reason I set up Twitter was her mod updates, where I learned she somehow did the character shit for XRD as well, and got at least proof of concept for nago in XRD.

Now I only think of how funny it'd be for her to add Ryu to guilty gear since he's already in BFTG, and he's the character Ryn added for the rising thunder thing.

inspired by @couldtheycatchkira and this poll and the general power scaling bullshit. Can your blorbo beat the sayan popstar? Probably, but it is not my place to decide. This blog is just for fun, I dont like unironic powerscalings and stuff.

Heya! if you don't mind me asking, what is it like in your ultrakill discord server? I'm mostly wondering about its set up and atmosphere, but I'm all ears if you have anything else you'd like to mention lol

Hiya! :D

First of all, I'm flattered you're thinking about joining our server (join link here if you need it) and I appreciate your inquiry about its insides! :D I'm sorry that this became such a long response, but I hope it gives you some peace of mind either way xD

We're currently two mods if you include me as the admin, with @cogsanity being the other, and ca 85 people total.

In terms of setup, I've designed the categories roughly after the layers of hell within the game, although the channels within don't necessarily all reflect that lol. It's more for easier sorting and visual distinction really.

Limbo is more for moderation, organization and information.

You can read up on the rules, assign yourself some roles via a reaction-roles system, write an optional introduction with the pinned template in #terminal-entries, see any announcements me or Shin make (dw we rarely ever ping @everyone unless it's dire or important, tho I also just generally use it to log changes made to the channel structures) and ask us mods if anything's unclear :3

Then we have two gen channels with some fun extra channels to dump photos and pet related things in...

...and two main art channels (a lot of us are artists), as well as extra channels for headcanons, brainstorming, AUs, OCs, off topic infodumping and memes/spam as well as a spoiler channel for screenshot saturdays hype and whenever act III may release, so that people can catch up in their own time without getting spoiled prematurely :3

Oh! And we also of course have a channel for bragging abt your high scores in and another to ask for gameplay help from more experienced players!

We have carl-bot for reaction-roles and PluralKit for systems, and while we technically also have a music bot, the one we have rn is kind of a bitch to get working the way I need it to so I'm probably going to replace that one soon, until then it's functionally not really count-able lmao.

We allow a certain amount of sex jokes for the most part (with the deliberate exception that they are never to be directed at other members) since this is a 16+ ultrakill server - however actually explicit content (i.e. memes, writing, artworks) are to be kept to their own secluded section that an access role has to be given manually for and is only given to people that are 18+. We strictly moderate in this regard to ensure it's a safe and comfortable space for everyone.

In terms of atmosphere we're all very neurodivergent and very queer :'DD some very chatty folks, some more quiet ones, lots of good jokes and an overall pretty easygoing and respectful air.

We are strictly against any and all forms of discriminatory and phobic behavior and try to encourage mutually supportive creativity.

Here's our current lineup of emotes^ (the drones spin, one slower, one faster and the sideways v1 and v2 are doing patty cakes), all of which are credited in a pinned message on-server within the emote suggestions channel.

We have an event planned for november (we're setting up a pool of server banner designs made by the members that we're then picking every month via randomizer to be the server banner for the next 30 days) and are currently cooking up another event for around christmas as well >:3.

We also have a minecraft realm with extra channels for that purpose (locked behind a self-assign role just so it's not visible and bothersome to people that have no interest in it) and try to do somewhat weekly activities such as gartic phone, magma and I've also heard talks of a karaoke night being attempted soon, as well as some jackbox and cards against humanity being considered some time :D

Since this server is a very chatty one that loves hanging out en masse in vc, we've set up 5 main voice channels:

one for specifically art streams

one for game streams (or really streams in general, we often have some artists stream art on the side while another streams gameplay lmao)

one for just talking

one for activities like gartic phone

and because people tend to get overwhelmed with more than 5 people in vc, we also have a limited capacity vc for those that prefer a calmer hangout spot :3.

There might be more added in the future depending on activity and demand tho.

As a frame of reference, when we did the gartic phone session last weekend, we were ca 16 people in vc, and we only lasted about 3 rounds before everyone got a headache from overstimulation and needed to log off or split up into the campfire vc lmfao.

I'm surprised that one went as well as it did though, since it was very chaotic but still in a very controlled and fun way. VC sessions rarely get that big anyways, but I'm very glad that when they do, it's not pure, unadulterated, deafening chaos and that the means we've provided for self-managing your needs do get used as intended :').

Also just as a sidenote, there's a lot of users on there that are also floating around the main Ultrakill tag frequently, so I'm sure you'll recognize a few familiar faces if you do decide to join :3.

I've now finished act 2 and MAN that shits so fun. Ultrakill is so fun. Have some memes

I've kissed and made up with the green shotgun now (finally stopped blowing myself up and learned how to use it)

My first time fighting Gabe had. So many fun moments, one day I'll draw "FUCK YOU GABE!! (Instantly explodes and gets launched 500 ft in the air as a corpse)"

I accidentally exploded the lore book before the V2 fight and I was so sad about it. My spectator friend called me out for it instantly. It was very funny, I then proceeded to do it on purpose from then on

Knowledge attack! The spawner arm used to be on 5 before the rocket launcher was added. Also Hakita has made a total meme out of V2 not coming back and being done for good, die mad about it haters that kind of thing. The meme could all be a misdirect, but it seems likely V2 is toast and not gonna be lich-ed back.

Oh shit NEW PRIMARIES ARE BACK ON THE TABLE

In that case PLEASE I hope they add the teleporting orb from Quake Champions. Can you imagine the schmovement if you can fire a shot and then with alt-fire you swap places with it? Let me telefrag enemies! It would also help in the Cybergrind where playing onstage feels almost impossible from the sheer amount of spam flying your way, forcing you to rocket ride and whiplash constantly in order to stay off the stage and stay alive. A teleporter orb would at least help you get back into the stage by teleporting through the mass of enemies huddled on the edge

I would also like a time dilation gun. It feels sacrilegious to Ultrakill which is the game about SPEED but shooting a time bubble that slows enemies inside would be such a godsend, plus Nero has it in his Ragtime Devil Breaker in DMC5! Maybe it will even be the Gold arm.

If V2 is permanently dead then I just hope the Act III fight for the Gold Arm is just as hype as Claire de Soleil! The V2 fights are my pick for the most intense non-prime bossfights in the game, it literally took me 5x the amount of tries to beat V2 for the first time than it did for me to beat Gabriel inside Gluttony

1. List 3 positive things about your current fandom(s)

I guess I'm gonna organize these by fandom lol

Pokemon:

- Diversity! Since it's been around for so long, there's tons of fics to read. If you can think of it, someone has probably written it. There's a Mewtwo fic I found in college that's basically a retelling of the events of the first movie, but holy shit it's written so beautifully it made me cry in front of my friends rjrhdgde. It's a dense read, but still one of my absolute favorite fics to this day. That's just an example of things you can find!

- Sub-fan bases. Basically, if you're a big fan of a certain Pokémon, a type of Pokémon, one of the games, etc., you're going to find your people very easily. Kind of falls under the first one a bit but ya know lol.

- Some of the cutest and also the most badass fanart comes out of this fandom. I have both art of a Sylveon with a lollipop and art of Mewtwo breaking out of their armor from the first movie. The duality of man djrhdgs

SoulsBorne

-Maybe I've gotten lucky and just found really nice people, but so far my experiences in the community have been largely positive! I've met some of the loveliest people by posting my Dark Souls and Bloodborne fics, and it really got me back into writing OCs again (you know that's my lifeblood lol)

-Character and lore analyses. Not that I agree with all of them, of course I don't, but if you want an analyses of anything in these games, there's some mad lad out there that's done it, whether it's a post or through an entire fic. Gives you tons to think about!

-ART!! Holy shit there's so many amazing artists in this community. We don't talk about how much SoulsBorne art I've snagged at conventions (I got more of it and Elden Ring stuff at Magfest don't look at me fjfhdhd)

Lies of P

-I haven't been in this fandom for long, but so far everyone I've met has been very sweet! They're also super OC-friendly. I can't tell you how many Stalker and Puppet OCs I've seen, among others, it's really amazing!

-Probably gonna say this for all of my fandoms but the ART OMG. There's so much gorgeous fanart floating around for this game it's insane. Still on the hunt for more Romeo pieces tho rjrhehe

-Headcanon diversity. Do you want a totally mute P? One that talks sometimes? One that's Had Enough? What I'm getting at is there's a P out there for everyone! People have been exploring all the different character angles on him and it's wonderful to see.

Ultrakill

-THE HYPE. Since this is an early access game still in development, the hype that cranks up every time an update is announced is INSANE. I don't think I've ever seen this level of it for an indie game. I got in just in time to witness this for the Violence update and the rush it gives you seeing everyone so excited is amazing!! It helps that every single update has just been an absolute banger. We have reason to be super excited, the devs do stellar work!!

-LORE. Do you wanna feel like Charlie at the corkboard in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia? Because that's where I'm definitely at right now. Since we're in the last act of the game, there's so much speculation and so many theories about how the game will end. On top of that, people have been playing in the lore sandbox ever since this game started. I know I've def been up at night wondering how the hierarchy of Heaven works and what certain layers of Hell were like before Certain Events TM (I'm being vague because I know at least one person wants to play this bear with me lol). Basically there's tons to explore and the community collectively goes insane about different bits, we have fun here lmao

-I'm bundling art and memes into this one because oh my GOD. The tonal whiplash is a rollercoaster ride. You can go from the most heart-wrenching art of Gabriel you've ever seen to a piece that goes "V1 is a shrimp now" and sometimes you just need that snap back to some levity. The memes are absolutely top-tier. It helps that the voice actor for Gabriel already does memes and shitposts on his YouTube channel, so he just carries that over for Ultrakill stuff sometimes and y'know what? This game is dark, I'm gonna need these memes for when the ending makes me bawl like a baby. The Violence layer already has me feeling the creeping sense of dread (if you know you KNOW).

YESSSSSSS I LOVE ULTRAKILL SO SO MUCH FOAMING AT THE MOUTH

Ahem I chose Gabriel since I'm so normal about him as you can see

YO DOUBLE BINGO!! He's literally the character ever. He's an angel working on behalf of a dead God until he isn't. He tries killing V1 (the player character. Who is a robot) twice and fails both times. The second time he got horny halfway through battle and that made him realize God is dead. He's the only one who cares about the damned Ferrymen who carry souls across Styx in hopes of being granted passage to Heaven. He killed the King of the Lust Layer for trying to reform the Lust Layer into a utopia. His first in person appearance was in that guy's stomach. He represents the king piece on a chess board in the credits level with V1 as his queen piece. His voice actor is motherfucking Gianni Matragrano (whom you may recognize for voicing a bunch of memes as characters, including but not limited to Duke Nukem and Columbo). Welcome to Rain World: Flood Of Pain, a mix of Rain World and ULTRAKILL! Working on the designs for now, I decided to start with some memes.

General lore under the cut, as well as lore for Hunter

General lore

Every campaign happens at the same time. Including the fan made ones. Some campaigns are simply incompatible by nature (like Rivulet and Spearmaster), so the ones that can only happen after Moon’s collapse will just have to wait for everyone else to finish their campaigns. This means that Rivulet, Saint, and Hunter are out of luck until she collapses, but something is preventing that from happening. What could possibly- it’s the other scugs.

The other slugcats are working together to annoy Five Pebbles and prevent him from trying to kill himself. While Artificer is happy that she can meet Moon, Saint is most certainly unhappy, because the echoes that spawn in Shoreline and Submerged Superstructure aren’t there yet, and Saint therefore cannot complete his campaign.

Saint decided that rather than wait for Moon to collapse, he would do it himself. The events that follow are complicated, but basically he failed, went to the Scavengers, and asked them if they could do it for him. The Scavengers misunderstood and thought that Saint meant Five Pebbles as well. The scavengers went to their king and asked him to do it, since they couldn’t leave out of their fear of Artificer, who was trying to enter through the karma gate every cycle. That is where the story begins, with the player being the king scavenger.

I will elaborate on this lore as I continue to make more character designs.

Hunter Lore

The Hunter died loooong before Moon collapsed. Due to the other slugcats’ efforts, they were able to subdue the Long Legs form of Hunter. However, it can still crawl around and try to eat things that come close, and if something were to attack it, the rot would awaken once more.

Inv lore

Egg: hey, do you remember why we’re locked in here?

Inv: well, uh,

Inv (past): your honor, *freaking dies*

Prime Pebbles (past): shut up. You are going to Shaded Citadel.

Egg: yeah, that’s not as funny as the other one. Also please untape me from this-

Inv: no.

Basically, Inv was the leader of the Pebbles Harassment Department (they made it spell PHD since they believed they should have one). Pebbles banished them to Shaded Citadel, had them locked in the nearest spider-infested room to the gate of Industrial Complex, and they never bothered to leave, since they had already appointed someone else as the new leader. Who though, you’ll have to see.

1. What made you ship it?

I started playing Ultrakill after hearing Gabriel’s Act II dialogue, so I was always kind of into it but it got to a whole new level when I actually played and got to see everything in action. But if I had to sum up the reason why in one line? “COME ON, MACHINE! FIGHT ME LIKE AN ANIMAL!”

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

THE DYNAMIC GRGRHHRHRHRHRHHHHHH I LOVE IT SO MUCH Gabriel starting off all high and mighty with his “Foolishness, machine. Foolishness” to his FURY upon getting defeated “you INSIGNIFICANT FUCK” and the rematch “I will grind you down until the very SPARKS cry for mercy” and then how he goes from rage to ecstasy and turning against the council of heaven it’s GREAT. V1 beat the Christianity out of him and showed him the joys of masochism (the shaky “is… is this my blood? haha… I’ve never known such… such relief.” sticks with me FOREVER)

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on the ship?

Hmmm, not really? I also don’t really know many other opinions on the ship, so I don’t know what’s unpopular.
