I think we need to normalize using "people" as a species neutral word.

Like idk in my brain the word people just doesn't automatically = human. To me it's just a way to signify intelligence and individuality, and to emphasize the need for respect towards another creature, not specific to any one species.

Dogs can be people, mice can be people, dragons can be people, humans can be people, birds can be people, elves can be people, robots can be people, and so on.

It's also (in my opinion) just much easier than always saying "beings" or "individuals" when referring to varying assortments of creatures.

Someone just went off at me in a comment, not on here, for using "delusion/s/al" and "mentally ill" in my info-graph about how physical identifying nonhumans/alterhumans exist and have been a part of these communities since the beginning, telling me that they are, and I quote...

"slurs created by doctors and therapists to demonize and strip agency from anyone whom they deem “not normal”."

Like... what???

I can't...

Uhm so I thought I’d share this experience with you guys :p Ever since I was a small child I fully believed I was a werewolf. One that couldn’t shift, but still, a werewolf. I think I told a really close friend at one time but I can’t really remember. But I really wanted to keep this a secret. I was worried people were going to chase me away or something. Anytime I was playing a game and the opportunity presented itself I played as a wolf. I remember walking around on all fours with my little sister like we were in a pack. I remember not really wearing shirts that often because, and I quote, “Wolves don’t wear clothes”. I would wear pants but that’s mainly because my parents would tell me to put pants on. I remember watching clips of “Wolfwalkers” and thinking “That’s me.” When we were out in the country I would howl. I would just sit outside and stare at the moon and listen to the sounds around me. I was a werewolf. I still am, but that part of me has been suppressed. Until about two nights ago when I felt like I had almost fully transformed into a werewolf. I could barely think but if the thought of being human even slightly crossed my mind I gagged and snarled. I was walking around my room on all fours and I wanted to howl so bad. It genuinely hurt but I let it in because in my mind, since my parents were downstairs and I felt extremely territorial “They’d invade my territory and I’d have to defend myself” This is a long post but thinking about this has made me realize I’ve never thought of myself as human and I’ve never been human.

can somebody please explain to me what a Therian is? I don't really get it, haven't heard much other than somebody said it was similar to transgender people (which honestly immediately turned me off from the idea because I hate when people compare two different minorities in general). I want to keep an open mind though.
