Big fckn redesigns here. Well mostly Charlie but Vaggie somewhat too 🥰🥰

Blue fits Charlie soooo much and I cease to see that many redesigns with this color. I still want red to be used in most of their designs because well. They are in hell, but not too present so to make way for other unique colors. Charlie has several physical traits from her parents but also she has some details in her clothes that match with them. When I uhh, introduce their designs you'll see lmao. I also tried to make her have a more roundish design, I jst LOVE those typ of designs omg. I just want the characters with not too many sharp corners pls Viv bro... 😔 oh yeah she's mixed cuz her mom's are darker in their redesigns. Alot of their genetics went down to Charlie so she doesn't look like an exact copy of Lucifer, I kind of hate that trend with hh and hb characters, like did the moxxies dad give birth to him bro 😭 also I kept her bow because it looks so cute and silly on her it just fits, I wish they made it bigger in her show design because it would fit her silliness so much. She has a cape with stars because morningSTAR smh why didnt they do something fun with that, missed potential but whatevs yknow I still love og designs no matter what anyone sayss. Did you know I love Charlie, I could ramble for days. I think I love Charlie guys. Maybe jst a hunch idk... also... s-snake fangs.. jeepers anddd..... snake tongue.... shiver me timberz

The wife ever. I had animation in mind more when I designed her, not like in a "How easy or hard would this be to animate" way. But I like to imagine when she's shocked her hair kind of fluffs out plus her actual fluff, when she's mad her bow turns into kind of horns and then her jacket expands like wings. Gave her a more hotel like outfit, she likes to work for fun (ew). Her socks are socks but she has some fluff under them she just tries to cover it up because she hates herself 🤪 (she doesn't hate her bigger body she actually feels much more comfortable chubby than when she was skinny with Adam. She was burdened with the weight of Adam's image of women... In this sorta rewrite she gained weight when she goes to the hotel because she's more happy. I'm dying I love chub Vaggie so much guys please) headcanon: she kind of likes fashion, it's like a fun hobby of hers to stitch together clothing and go out and buy clothes she'll never wear. She taught Charlie how to stitch and she SUCKS so you can jst see it on Charlie's pants.

Second outfits! Charlie's hotel uniform for. Well. Hotel stuff. She usually only wears it when new people come to the hotel, which.... isn't often, if at all. She still likes to keep it just in case. Also she goes really cartoonish when it happens, she does the looney tunes run and changes into her clothes in like 2 seconds. Can you see my vision? 😭😭

Vaggie's is in her armor. She has several pairs of armor lying around in the hotel in completely hidden spots. It's kind of surprising uhh. Yeah she wears it alot more than Charlie wears her alt uniform but still rare to find her in it. I don't get the whole thing with the exterminators and them not being able to fight according to Carmilla. Which is kinda stupid, I'm not gonna lie. So, instead of that, Vaggie has just let her guard down and has gotten much more comfortable in her surroundings so she feels like she doesn't need to fight anymore, she's just gotten rusty 's what I'm sayin. I have no idea how to draw armor. You can tell...

BABY CHARLIE!!! With the heads of my redesigns for Luci, Eve, and Lillith. Haha you still cant see them. Uhh, ill definitely finish the thing one day. Its not even that big of a project thing, i think i jst keep going to other drawings so im like not focusing on one thing lmao. Lucifer has heterochromia because he was cursed to forever be reminded of his betrayal. I only explained that because Charlie has it too, it's kind of a curse on the entire blood line where at least one eye is red. This is like. Slightly older Charlie than the baby Charlie in show? Vitalasubzam Week 2024 1st day: Flowers / Symbolism

since this day is about flowers and symbolism ofc i went with hanahaki

notes:

dandelions indicating zam is p obvious -- after all thats what the guy uses himself -- but the fact that they, or more specifically their seeds, are tied to wish-granting adds a neat layer to it i think considering zam's symbol of being a star (in my interpretation) also ties in to wish-granting

this whole thing is based on zam going "subz can fix me," and while i didnt know how to portray it without making an entire comic which i didnt really wanna do, he actually doesnt want the flowers gone he just wants subz to stitch not just his chest close but also his mouth

i was originally gonna make the thread purple but decided to go with green

the x's, while supposed to be tied to the whole stitching theme going on, are red instead of green because of zam

i had trouble picking the bg color cause on one hand i wanted to make it dark but on the other hand i wanted the focus on subz despite the composition which would need a lighter color, in the end i chose the same white as zam's shirt cause i like that it made him look cut off

zam has no nipples cause his species (skyformes) are homunculi in my Minecraft LoreTM (he should also have way more scars than just his neck but i havent decided where to put them yet)

this was actually drawn right when i changed zam's design to have red teeth but it made making the dandelion seeds visible a nightmare so i decided to just keep them white in this drawing

tgs jekyll and hyde but they got evaporated by my evil headcanon beam and stitched back together by somebody who has no experience with using a needle and thread to the point where theyre more just like a seperate character

PLEASE HEAR ME OUT BEFORE BITING A CHUNK OUT OF MY ARM. if anybody wants to read about my evil headcanon world all the stuff is below. wasnt really exaggerating when i said i ripped their character apart and stitched them back together though.

i do have a google doc full of everything i headcanon for tgs but some of that is embarrassing as hell so im just slapping the important stuff here

most of these 'headcanons' are here more because they make me happy than to actually make any sense. as a warning.

smokes fat blunt puffs it in your face anyways uh trans henry jekyll yeah (gets shot) ty person from the j&h community i was messaging that dragged me to the dark side and introduced me to the world of embracing my j&h trans headcanons. a true angel.

i really like more book inspired takes on j&h than the musical ones soo uhh.. yeah theyre the same person fully no j&h arguing thing. im soooorrrrryyy its just my preference for adaptations and i find it a lot more fun to play with story wise. also some other reasons but i wont get into those

polyamorous and bisexual (bi because... obvious reasons. poly because of that one couple they meet up with in the comic every now and then. my favourite ... ship (i think thats the right term?) in the comic. i love them.)

gas mask because it looks cool + chemical shenanigans ("oh but those didnt exist" shh. shhhhh.")

speaking of chemicals! they are much more into science. mostly does science-y stuff when theyre hyde though. they like to break into lodgers rooms and contribute to experiments.

facial hair. thats it. no further reasoning will be given

tried making jekyll in the concept redesign of him look older. failed SO bad im sorry i know its horrible.

hyde has pointy ears + pointer teeth (and green tongue because potion goop) + slit pupils because i am incapable of designing a human hyde. i have no idea why but i just cant.

earrings because 1: i have a bad habit of giving designs earrings and 2: i remember seeing a few headcanons of j&h with earrings and they were so tasty to look at so i had to do my own

bandage scarf thing from the beta tgs hyde design + newer tgs design that only shows up in the mind... world.... thing.

added the uhhh goggles from the old design too.

red and green hat because i couldnt decide if i wanted hyde to have the red hat from the old design of tgs hyde or the green hat from the current design. ripped it in half and chose both. great decision making i know

chunks of brown hair in hydes because why not. also red ring around one eye as like a weird variant of half heterchomia.

hyde has weird patches of green colored skin idk it just looked cool when i was fiddling with colors so i kept it

hyde has red scales in certain spots of the design. no further explanation

gave hyde black gloves to contrast jekylls white gloves + cmon. hyde probably touches the most gross revolting shit with the places they go to. they deserve some gloves.

changed their body type a litttttle bit just a smudge

i was going to give jekyll a cravat around the neck (a really bad designing habit of mine is to give characters cravats. not my fault they look so cool) both as a fancy thing + to hide lack of a adams apple buuttt the design felt way too clumped so im scrapping that. ignore the cravat in the drawing. grrr bARKBAKRABK

actually does sparkle visually/not just as a non-existent visual effect and people can actually see it. lanyon always swats them away because the sparkles get in his face.

hyde is more shorter than shown in the comic, more like book hydes height. like a foot or more shorter than jekyll. jekyll stays around the same height though. hydes probably the shortest one in the society.

permanent eyebags. does not sleep but cmon we all already knew that

hyde has a strong scottish accent instead of the other accent he fakes in the comic that i always forget the name of

has a cane like the og book. its a sword cane.... yeah i have a addiction, im sorry. (like half my own personal characters have sword canes)

i suck so bad at drawing shoes so hydes shoes look like ass but theyre supposed to be big boots since this guy probably walks through yucky mucky areas and stuff

i would totally write some oneshots or something like that of these guys going on adventures doing experiments and stuff yknow . (stuff like lodgers content and interactions, lanyon and hyde interactions because i enjoy secret identity and person said secret identity personal knows outside of their secret identity interactions, that one couple i talked about before interactions with jekyll/hyde and just in general random oneshots that make no sense) if i actually had any literacy skill

so this post... yeah i am having alot of fun. yeah nobody can stop me and once im done with the script i might just get to the longfic i have planned. yeah its fun

[id: drawing of Arctic and Darkstalker standing in front of eachother; both of them have pointy shapes, with darkstalker's mane being much shorter and covering only the neck, while Arctic's covers the whole chest. Both of them have tufts on their foreheads and are looking at eachother angrily, Arctic bit more reserved while Darkstalker's anger is louder. Arctic has his wings pinned down while Darkstalker's are standing up. Arctic has blue string tied around his snout, while darkstalker has blue stitches around his mouth. Behind them there is a blue web on top of a purple background; but what covers most of it is a silhouette of Queen diamond, pure white with blue eyes, her wings spread out, iron crown with blue gems embedded in it. / end id]

(putting the story under the cut; cw for torture)

the general story is; before darkstalker kills arctic, he gets a vision clear enough it makes him stop. he sees his mother foeslayer, knowing she is alive. arctic still confessed but isn't physically harmed yet; clearsight confirms the vision but looks bit sad and confused, like she is hiding something from him, but can't tell why. darkstalker rips out bit of his scroll, but rest is confiscated so he can only cast few spells (breaking it would have similar effect; his spells would be very limited and small). he lets arctic go but follows him to the ice kingdom, enchanting himself to be invisible. he follows him for a while before getting distracted and eventually finds the tunnels; he frees foeslayer but almost as soon she is gone (and protected; he made sure to word the spell so she can't be taken back. he put it directly on her after all) and is caught by queen diamond. arctic is forced to marry snowflake again, and both of them are very miserable about it. its horrible. meanwhile darkstalker gets tortured in the caves. first diamond couldnt hurt him physically, but quickly she figured that one; he didnt make himself unable to feel pain, and two; he forgot to enchant his insides too. spell loopholes and all that she enchants him so his organs regenerate no matter how damaged, so he cant die trough that type of injury then stabs him through the mouth. she figures out more and more creative ways to hurt him later. one day she brings arctic, thinking that would be his final push, to kill his own son, but she is almost surprised how little arctic cares about darkstalker. he stabs him trough the mouth but inside arctic feels bit weird about it, especially seeing his son bleed blue. but he does not think about that. or tries to atleast.

but he tries to figure out a plan, especially that he was allowed to visit darkstalker after that, seeing that care wasnt there and he could be used as a tool of torture. but maybe he doesnt want his life to end like that. he offers darkstalker to make a plan to escape, but first he refuses. also maybe tries to talk with snowflake and while both still hate echother and snowflake is still rightfully angry for what arctic did to her, maybe they have shred of solidarity for once. and you know the whole thing with both of them already having partners and you know. things look bad but maybe darkstalker at some point will want out enough that he will agree to the plan, but for now; to be continued

(also "oooh why arctic now wants to escape even if he came back willingly?" sometimes u forget how bad things were until you experience them again)

(meanwhile in night kingdom there is a civil war happening, but i dont have details about it yet. but its fun)

im so normal about this au. so normal, in fact, that i wanted to draw Sugarplum in it. mob au, Doc and Robbie all belong to @clownsuu!

Sugarplum isnt built for the mob life lol. shes an aquatic predator, sure, but she has a strong hate for guns and firearms. theyre loud, hot, and bust out her eardrums. which is ironic, considering shes best friends with Robbie.

but anyhow, some lore! remember when i said in these old ass hcs that Sugarplum's body has a cleaner in it (since she lives in large bodies of water), making sure her cotton insides dont get moldy? and how that translates into a paralyzing venom? well, because of that, she pairs up with Doctor Stone and Robbie! Wally wants Doc to look more into the venom to see if they can make a new drug out of it, one that only their mob would have access to. basically monopolizing on it, selling it for high prices in small amounts. if not that, then at least Julie will have a new poison to play around with. since Sugarplum cant fight in the mob, shes basically a lab rat (that Stone has almost lost some fingers to for being snappy).

and a note on the placements of Sugarplum's scars: she has her stitches across her jaw and wrists. she tried to fight back with her sharp teeth/claws, and it didnt go too well. she also lost stinger privileges on the puffy skirt (both for shocking people and being impractical indoors), so she only has the base of her outfit in this au. ALSO also, Sugarplum doesnt have eyelids here either! during the fight (and her eye being ripped out), there was a lot of painful tears, and the skin of her eyelid burned out from the venom. she has just enough skin to keep the eyeball in, and by some miracle (cough cough Home), she hasnt gone blind.

since ive come to learn that Tumblr doesnt like long posts, this one will be for the relationship chart rant. hopefully, if art block doesnt FUCK me, ill post some doodles of her!

Sugarplum -> Robbie: ill admit, this entire idea came from me talking to this fan made ai. i thought the two would hate each other, but their relationship was surprisingly cute? Sugarplum is still learning social behaviors and speech, which lead to some funny moments between the two, shown below (i changed 'chipmunk' to 'shrimp' because, yk, aquatic puppet).

they mean everything to me.

but anyways.

Sugarplum admires Robbie and the kinship they have. she doesnt know much about money, or drugs, or the mob in general. and even if Robbie is... not the best person to take after, Sugarplum still looks up to him. she thinks hes really good at making jokes (something shes still learning to do), is very cool for going out and doing 'mob business', and probably thinks he knows a lot more than he actually does (she takes a lot of his bragging at face value). Sugarplum has very vague contact to the main mob, so its mostly her and Robbie bugging the Doc. shes slightly afraid of his strength, or when he gets too rowdy. but one nip from her teeth and hes out like a light (the only time the base is peaceful).

Robbie -> Sugarplum: the base isnt so lonely anymore! he took Sugarplum under his wing, and took it upon himself to teach her the wonders of society! he thinks her blunt jokes are so bad, theyre funny, and her constant questions makes him feel really smart. Robbie wishes she would leave the base to see him in action, so he could really show off! still, he has respect for her dealing with all the lab tests Stone does, and is slightly afraid of her creepy nature (the venom in her gums doesnt help either). a small part of him is weary of her loyalty to the mob from how cold she is towards Sally and Barnaby, but he tries to ignore it for the sake of having a friend. and also, since i have no self control, he has a slight puppy crush for her. its mostly due to all of her praise and the attention she gives him, but Robbie also finds Sugarplum to be generally sweet, if not a bit weird. theyre def besties though.

Sugarplum -> Doctor Stone: mean old man!!! Sugarplum doesnt like him, and thinks hes far too grumpy to be any pleasant company. he must have a very miserable and sad life. they tolerate one another though, since they have to work together in order to run tests on her venom (neither of them want to fuck around and find out with Wally). she tries to ask him questions like she does with Robbie, but he gets too snappy. so Sugarplum gets snappy back! with her teeth! safe to say, they both tone it down around one another.

Doctor Stone -> Sugarplum: sees her as a feral animal with rabies. a raccoon that youre watching in your trashcan, that youre pretty sure is foaming at the mouth, but your too scared to say 'shoo!' he does have a smudge of respect for her, since shes quiet and complies with instructions, but other than that, he sicks her onto Robbie. he does have an interest in her venom though, which is why he hasnt complained to Wally to have her transferred. their interactions are very straight forward. the tests are ran in silence, and theyd much rather be doing other things than spending time with one another.

Sugarplum -> Home: Sugarplum used to live in the wild, so she has a sixth sense for danger, which includes when a larger predator is stalking her. shes very aware that somethings watching, that theres something unnatural about the mobs loyalty and their power. she just doesnt know where its coming from. the most shes interacted with Home is hissing to the air for him to go away, but thats it. if they ever did meet, she would be feral. Sugarplum doesnt fear death, and she refuses to submit to anyones control. shes given him the nickname of 'leech' for his eyes constantly sticking around her.

Home -> Sugarplum: i have this base hc with any of their interactions that something went wrong when creating Sugarplum, and thats why shes so animalistic. Home sees her as a failure of creature, one that needed a bit more time in the oven to be complete. her awareness is concerning, and he makes sure to keep an extra close eye on her to make sure she doesnt go snooping (like Frank cough cough). the second she gets bold, her memory gets wiped. he keeps her with Stone and Rob to make sure she doesnt rub off on the rest of the mob. (spspspsp, i also made a Mob Home ai that you can talk to here, for anyone thats interested)

Sugarplum -> Frank: she had a bad opinion on him first, seeing him as a mini Stone, and for the longest time, she avoided him. but since she and Stone work so close together, Frank got desperate and nearly begged her to talk to Stone for him. that was a turning point in their relationship, and the more they spoke, the more she saw that they were fighting for the same cause. Sugarplum is afraid of breaking the rules, but she does make Stones job harder by being stubborn if he ignores Frank. she holds a high respect for Frank, and wishes him the best as he looks for answers. secretly, she hopes he gets a breakthrough, no matter what the cost may be.

Frank -> Sugarplum: again, for the longest time, their only connection to one another was Doc. Doc spoke about Sugarplum like she was an animal, and Frank thought she was a more feral version of Sally. but, when he had nowhere else to turn, when Doc ignored him and he hit a dead end, the two met in person. Frank thinks that Sugarplum is one of the few people who can sway Doc's opinions (since the two have to work together. if Sugarplum doesnt comply, shes going to drag both of them under Wally's wrath). Frank wishes Sugarplum would help him (he could sure use the support), but understands her hesitance. still, hes very thankful for the help she provides behind the scenes. he also finds her to be generally creepy, but tries to take the time out of his day to correct whatever Robbie has 'taught' her ('and you believed that moron?').

Sugarplum -> Julie: mixed emotions. Sugarplum does like Julie's presence. shes a very optimistic and excitable person, which easily rubs off on Sugarplum. but, Sugarplum is very distrusting of modern medicine, especially since Julie proudly displays her obsession with poisons. because of that distrust, Sugarplum keeps her distance. Sugarplum sees her as a poisonous bug you cant let touch you.

Julie -> Sugarplum: wants her venom soooo bad. why does Stone get to have all of the fun! if Julie had a weekend with Sugarplum, she could make a new drug in no time! Julie does find Sugarplum to be a bit creepy at times, but she always scurries away before Julie can get the needle out! rats :/

Sugarplum -> Howdy: is very uncomfortable around him. she thinks something is VERY wrong with Howdy from how much of a mindless servant he is, and sees him as a walking zombie (the gore movies Robbie shows her doesnt help much). Howdy freaks her out, and she doesnt see him as a living person. when they visit the mob, her time is mostly spent with Poppy while Robbie sticks to the bar.

Howdy -> Sugarplum: doesnt have much of an opinion on her. shes a quiet girl, awfully squeamish, and she isnt at the bar long enough for them to have any real interactions. he does have a small drop of pity that she has to deal with Robbie all day, though, other than that, he doesnt have much to say.

Sugarplum -> Wally: a mix of terror and discomfort. Wally always has an ulterior motive behind his words, he always has a plan and can read people like an open book. Sugarplum cant keep up with it all, and she finds their interactions to be very stressful. Wally is the main reason that shes afraid to rebel against the mob, and she may have villainized Wally more than their interactions had warranted. she has a longing to be back with nature, but doesnt want to give her family in the mob up. shes terrified of Wally finding out, and the fact that she doesnt know what he knows only adds onto the paranoia.

Wally -> Sugarplum: lends a lot of trust to Sugarplum. not because shes earned it (like Howdy), but because shes so easy to read, he isnt worried about her rebelling. Sugarplum is well behaved, polite, and easily scared back into place. he sees her more as a mouse than a predator, and doesnt understand why Home watches her so closely. Wally just doesnt like how Frank and her have become buddy-buddy. and YES, there is a SPECK of pink (theyre my main ship in og canon, i had to). wrapping back to the hc of 'Sugarplum needs more time in the oven', Wally sees her as a more... aware being, than the rest of the mob. she isnt bold enough to be a threat, but just enough to stand out. the pink isnt so much 'love' as it is 'interest'. he thinks Home has a higher purpose for her, which is why hes so weary of Frank and Sugarplums kinship. he also misinterprets Sugarplum's honesty as friendship, and thinks the two of them are good friends.

Sugarplum -> Barnaby: doesnt dislike him as much as Sally, but Barn isnt even close to the friendship her and Robbie have. she doesnt like how gun happy Barnaby is, nor the strong smell of his cigs. he overwhelms a lot of her senses, and hes very pushy. two and two dont mix, so she avoids him. thankfully, Barnaby is more excited to see Robbie than he is Sugarplum, letting her slip away.

Barnaby -> Sugarplum: has Wally's view of seeing her as a mouse, and thinks the girl should live a little! come on, guns aint so bad! fire-crackers are bright and colorful, theyre exciting! he doesnt get how Robbie and Sugarplum are so close, and finds her to be pretty boring. hes more excited to see Robbie, which keeps him distracted. if anything, Barn finds her creepy, and since shes so nip happy, he doesnt push her. he doesnt know what the venom does, and if Wally's interested in it, doesnt want to find out either.

Sugarplum -> Sally: hates Sally. not as much as she hates Home, but she refuses to meet with her when they visit the mob. Sally is erratic, loud, and too much of a loose screw for Sugarplum to handle. shes the most energetic, and the most overwhelming. it also doesnt help that shes so... bright, like a sun. the sounds of explosives terrify Sugarplum, and Sally is too impulsive for her to feel safe around. Robbie, you deal with it.

Sally -> Sugarplum: thinks Sugarplum is too prissy! come on, Wally aint gonna shoot you dead if you break a few rules! have some fun, live a little, join their trio! but, no matter how hard Sally looks around the base, Sugarplum is nowhere to be seen. so, she shrugs her shoulders, and goes to hang out with Robbie instead. when the two are forced to be around each other, its very tense. Sugarplum glares at her a lot, a 'dont try anything' stare, which is a bit unerring. she also shares Barnaby's fears of the venom, not knowing anything about how it works. maybe just a bit more, since Sugarplum is so standoffish around her.

Sugarplum -> Eddie: doesnt have much of an opinion on Eddie. their exchanges are brief and friendly. hes the most normal of the mob members, something Sugarplum appreciates, and hes a very caring person. but, just like Howdy, theres that underlying discomfort nagging at the pit of Sugarplums stomach. shes friendly, but wont go out of her way to talk to Eddie. shes mostly there to sign for Doc's pick-ups. though, for the sake of Frank's sanity, she keeps a close eye on him when he does visit the base, just to keep him safe.

Eddie -> Sugarplum: shes... well, creepy. Sugarplum creeps him out. she has a staring problem, her voice is flat and monotone, and her wide eyes dont help. but, Sugarplum refuses to be around Sally, and Sally takes the short time to say hi to Robbie. so, Eddie sucks it up, and tries to be as friendly as he can. and hey, he hasnt lost a finger yet! he must be doing something right. Sugarplum also follows him a lot whenever he visits the base, but thats fine! this is fine!

Sugarplum -> Poppy: doesnt know it, but Sugarplum has a MAJOR crush on Poppy. even if Poppy doesnt act like it, Sugarplum feels a sense of belonging from the two being animals. Sugarplum admires how gentle and nurturing Poppy is, and tries her best to look small around her, trying not to scare her. she wishes Poppy wouldnt stress so much, and wishes they saw each other more often. Sugarplum leaves little trinkets in front of Poppy's door when she doesnt answer, like pebbles or coins. birds like those, right?

Poppy -> Sugarplum: very nervous around Sugarplum. Sugarplum is a predator, and its hard to ignore her sharp teeth and glowing fangs. shes very scared for Sugarplum to touch her without heavy gloves, but appreciates the room Sugarplum gives for her to breathe. the little gifts make her feel seen, and she often sews the rips in Sugarplums clothes from her claws. the two find comfortable peace in one another. but, sadly, it never lasts long.

Yeah it’s like my hands are itching to just paint or draw something on them but also I just got them and don’t wanna risk ruining them ig. The patchwork pants should keep me at bay for a little while. On a scale of 1-10 tho, how much of a crime would it be to paint those iconic yellow stitches red?

also im gona be hopefully updating this semi-frequently as i draw more stuff and actually feel like explaining stuff. this post will be my Iyami Autism Diary now.

i dont have specific sources on any of these rn bc im writing this on my computer and also bc its probably something i saw once and didnt bother to save or anthing so. bear with me here.

-baby iyami. loveless child. born by a mother who always knew she would be better off without him and sharing the sibling moniker with an unironic sociopath older brother. emotionally neglected and naturally socially inept due to autism, along with like.. looking like that. you know he was torn to shred by everyone. japanese kids are RUTHLESS his entire elementary/middle school experience was getting his face dragged across the concrete and his lunch money stolen. i imagine he starts to become rlly jaded and outwardly mean as a defense mechanism in like 2nd/3rd grade, finally realizing that this shit isnt all sunshines and rainbows lil bro and that no one likes him. he went to school with both honkan and kaoru, honkan he would always get into scuffles with but kaoru was like the only kid that ever genuinely attempted to be nice to iyami. read: attempted. because iyami has bpd at the ripe age of 7 and a half and screams at him whenever hes around for no reason other than that hes really scared of him being a genuinely kind person. hes a fucked up kid in a fucked up situation surrounded by nothing but apathy and misunderstanding of how he works and thinks and wants. the scar on his face comes from an incident with his older brother who i imagine got so mad at him one time that he chased iyami around with a knife threatening to slit his throat open. luckily (or probably more unluckily) he just sliced the side of his face open. that was the first and last time that iyamis mother actually worried for him. and by "worried" i mean get mad at both of them for fucking around like that and then not taking iyami to get stitches because "he'd be fine."

-iyami's highschool experience is. slightly less horrific. mostly because hes kinda just accepted that everyone in the whole world hates him and at some point realized he should just live out of spite to piss everyone else off. he never really had any career dreams mostly since the only career he realistically could have was wage slave in the city, which would be like sending him to death row for him. due to his autism and prolonged abuse from all sides, hes become kind of an expert at knowing how people work, though he doesnt necessarily understand any of it. he realizes that he would much rather be a backpeddler on the streets than a corporate slave, so when hes kicked out at like 16/17 for being literally just a curseon his mother at that point hes right out there trying to charm his way into any way to make money. first couple years were difficult, i imagine he just. didnt finish highschool due to being homeless immediately. he always had a kickass sense of style though, and maybe bc he was younger he managed to pull off charm much more successfully. honestly i dont have too many any specific ideas ab this era sowwy... bc it kinda just exists as "the part before chibita" which speaking of

-his twenties and thirties is spent like the exact same way. like the autism is strong in this one hes very content with just being the worst. but thats only because he literally sees no other way for him to live because its all hes been offered to do by life. quite fucked up! but that leaves him with a great optimism and positive "nothing in life matters!!!!" attitude. i actuallyyyyy dont know exactly how to span this next part.... but i was thinking that he met chibita when the kid was around 6 and iyami was 30. iyami just kind of... adopts him? as a weird sort of nephew. but at the same time iyami is in a perpetual state of childishness so sometimes chibita is like the parent/uncle to iyami. theyre so strange. but speaking of iyamis childishness Yeah theres some side effects of prolonged neglect and trauma since first memory surprisingly!! iyami kind of aged backwards, having to mature early to try and protect himself and keep some level of sanity, he was never really treated like a kid especially not by mother and brother or even other kids. now that he's an actual adult his brain has sort of flipped over, now stuck in a weird area of feigning immaturity in every situation that isnt immediately "life-threatening" in his eyes. all that to say that iyami is agere and is basically regressed somewhat at all times and it just varies depending on the situation.

but yeah this era. a couple years after meeting chibita he ships himself off to the city suddenly hoping to be able to make something happen there Kind of an early mid-life crisis moment. and boy it is not great! this part is where i dump the rest of trauma on him but you dont get to hear that. something something tougou's crime ring. after like a bit under a year he ends up coming back and... HOLY FUCK IS THAT A REFERENCE TO THE FIRST EPISODE OF OSOMATSU-KUN 1988??? you bet your sorry ass it is. im literally so smart they shouldve hired me to make ososan dude.

-osokun '88 era happens ig?? his old situationship behated kaoru is a cop now apparently and he's stationed right in iyami territory. quite awkward! kaoru doesnt particularly like him 1 because like. cop/criminal dichotomy first of all. 2 because iyami was a cunt to him and honkan for seemingly no reason their entire childhood and 3 iyami seems to have a really weird complex of being mean and hating kaoru currently but also obviously going out of his way to get in kaoru's way. quite immature! i explained why that is though. kaoru in his infinite sweetnes though eventually just kinda feels bad for the dude because its kinda just pathetic at this point and also because he DOES know that iyami is actually a super cute sweet guy because there was one (1) time where as a kid iyami let his guard down around kaoru and played with him at his house after school just to be completely ripped to shreds literally and figuaratively by his classmates the next day when kaoru was acting super friendly with him and iyami just kinda blamed him for it for like 20 years. VERY pathetic! but he was like 9 dude. kaoru understands this and kinda just... lets iyami wreak havoc more than he would other people partly bc he still thinks hes pretty silly.

i have a whole big episode idea of the two getting together and probably hundreds of headcanons and ideas about the two together but tbh?? im gonna spare you and keep it as paraphrased as i can manage for both of our sanities. but watch me go back and edit this post or make a new one just infodumping ab everything about them.

but like yeah ig events happen. hey do u remember iyami's "daughter" who is actually his niece because there is no fucking way in any reality that this guy has procreated?? well she comes in sometime around here becasue her father (still an untreated aspd) kind of doesnt give a shit and neither does her whore mother and they choose to dump their kid off with uncle iyami for the summers now. yay!! i also have a lot of headcanons and stuff ab her (her name is hiyori btw) but thats for another post.

iyami's family turns into basically him, his husband, and his two (sometimes three) (some not actually legit) (and one is gone when it isnt the summer) neicephews. isnt that awsome??? i cry and scream and throw up just thinking about it. sometimes iyami is the nephew but thats awesome. sometimes a family can be some gay man and an orphan that is his husband's nephew and his husband's actual niece, his husband's lesbian best friend that is basically an aunt at this point, and his husband who is sometimes also his nephew/child because of cptsd and they are all autistic. truly beautiful stuff.

and yeah thats. that. like i said i'll be updating this with better explanations of stuff and hopefully actual art But this works for now!!!! no one wanted this but the world got it anyway. you can thank me later.

Anyways, as for my Rainbow friend ocs? Or my furry/creature ocs?? We'll just do rf ocs haha -- but first. Some notes: this is my first au of them<3

Pink = Pink is Blue's sister, not biologically related but they see each other as siblings, since they both were created on the same day. When Pink was younger, she was a recolor of Blue and absolutely hated it but she couldn't exactly complain about it since the scientists' weren't so. . .uh. . .good to her and the other odd world colors. Though when she got to her teenage years, she got a new design by Jessica(Her creator), but what's sad is that her second design was mostly dead odd world colors that died through the experiments stitched to her. She may have never haven't gotten a chance to know them, but she still was horrified. Later on life, she dated Red. The two were-- or had a okay relationship, but soon broke up when the truth was revealed. And just so you know, it was NOT a pretty breakup. At all. After years passed, Red returned and Pink was still wishing she had a new design, she couldn't ask Jessica to redesign her again, since the science woman despised and hated the odd world colors. (Except Magenta) and when she reunited with Red again, it took a few weeks for them to become normal goos friends, and once they did, she wanted him to redesign her. So he did, even if it meant going through five panic attacks just to help her. Also she receives kill mode later on in her life. Yikes-

I swear I will make a better fleshed out explanation on all of them, just- give me time haha-

Slate = This chubby short lil grumpy guy doesn't have a much of a backstory but he does have some history with Pink, the two are good friends. Slate has a crush on Honeydew, but he's a tsundere. Oh and by the way, he's uh- he's having some mental issues and is dealing with depressing thoughts. He also has kill mode, though nobody knows how he got it.

Honeydew belongs to this person

Candycane = This crazy holiday rainbow creature was created at the start of November and was finished on December 12th. She was a bit crazy at the time but as she grew older, she got more crazier and tends to get herself into trouble. A lot. Though she tries her best to do some things, and sometimes try and be a good partner to Nightlight despite never really experiencing love in their life.

Nightlight belongs to this person

Chocolate = This poor gal lost her fucking legs during a experiment, brutally ripped off. So ptsd for her! Even more so when her creator, Jessica (who's also Pink's creator), had ripped her eye out as a punishment for disobeying his orders. She is *SUPER* emotional and is much more sensitive than Strawberry is. However she developed a disliking towards Slate, who constantly makes fun of her for having no legs. Poor gal can't catch a break, but hey, at least she has Aura.

Aura belongs to this person

Strawberry = The poor giant chubby gal was too late to save a human friend of hers, the woman was named Laura and was killed by Jessica. Nobody knows why she killed her, or how she did it but Strawberry developed a fear of being too late of saving her friends. However, she is super sweet and loving to everyone, and is practically the caretaker of children of any types. She is also in a relationship with Lulu and is quite happy. Though she still terribly misses Laura :(

Lulu belongs to this person

Black = This guy was created by the rainbow friends themselves, it was mostly Blue's idea because Red wasn't there, he had been presumably dead as hell out in the wild after the truth revealed. So originally, Black was a replacement for Red until things went horribly wrong. Nobody knows how or why but Black was created with kill mode and went on a rampage, he had no absolute control over himself and his kill mode at the time, but now he's just chilling and is now mates with Orange, taking care of any rainbow creature kids.

Black & Pink are my first ones haha-

White = I'm remaking him so nothing on him yet, sorry<3

Violet = This gal had miraculously survived throughout dangerous experiments at such a young age, however, they received scars and practically is missing a arm due to those experiments. She is also half blind too. However, she may not talk much and is always being assumed of being muted, they always are chill and acts more like a background character and prefers it that way. She doesn't like attention or drama involving themselves.

Rusty = Ah yes, our magic nerd rainbow creature who always and still believes magic is real. Rusty grew up being told/lied to about fantasy stuff being real, so like, he believes any fantasy creatures were real and such. Also when he was young, he was a female but now he's a male, meaning he's Transgender. However, throughout his life, he is kinda childish. Always believing liars and is somewhat good friends with Lime, but he soon developed a crush but unfortunately Lime has no interest in him and just sees him as a friend.

Neon = It usually goes "Neon" or "Rainbow" due to him having all sorts of different colors, of course, they were created and supposed to be a weapon for odd world though things went south and Neon ended up killing his creator, Aaron. However, they somehow ended up crushing on Grey, and it confuses him. Also they can change her form and is NOT a ghost despite looking like one. Neon goes by many names and is just a insane boi. They absolutely love scaring ppl though<3

The Candy Collector/Bittersweet = He goes by many, many, many different names. Most of these names are based off types of certain candy, and such. Though they mostly use "Bittersweet" and "Sugarcoat". He was created at the beginning of August, his creation took much longer due to his extra arms and the abilities the scientists' were giving him. And the rainbow machine was having issues, as well as Bittersweet. His creation was finished at the end of September, and they placed him in the wooden cabin since that's the easiest place for them to give children candy. When October rolled around, Bittersweet started to become a bit more unstable than he usually is. On October 31th, the day of Halloween, that's when he snapped. Bittersweet had killed about 4 or 5 kids, causing the place to shut down and him being thrown out. Though they decided to sneak out and run off, leaving the play place. Oh and by the way, Blue and Purple knows him. Bittersweet had never returned, until later on. Though even now, nobody knows where they live now.

Yellowstone = Our poor derpy gal who can only smile and absolutely despises the odd circus, she was a failed experiment at odd world but was transferred to the odd circus, a place of failed experiments would go. Yellowstone absolutely hates the circus and the people in it, they all treat her and the others like shit. Though she is always how positive she is in front of others but really, she's just dying inside, hating life, and doesn't have a good view of a actual good life. She also despises Sunset.

Blueberry = Another failed experiment, she is short and chubby and is playful. She tries her best to make Yellowstone feel better despite hating the circus herself, she is such a troublemaker and is often viewed as a screw-up, though she doesn't care for the insults. Though she knows Yellowstone is sensitive about pretty much anything. Also Blueberry was created in the circus, so she has no idea there are other places.

Blackberry = He can't really change his mouth expression, and is often pranking others. Trying to ignore the pain he usually gets from the people that treats them all like shit, he is now questioning his sexuality when he started crushing on Blood Orange. Also he's a failed experiment. He can also teleport, so it makes it more easier to prank others and get away. He usually accidentally scares Yellowstone.

Blood Orange belongs to this person

Sunset = She is the favorite, she is loved by the people, the audience and the children. She absolutely loves the circus, not realizing the people were injuring the others, or maybe she does and doesn't care. Either way, she absolutely enjoys making fun of them, especially Yellowstone since she knows that Yellowstone wasn't created in the circus.

Snowflake = The one and only so far that had been transferred to odd world, nobody knows why or how they did it. He was just suddenly transferred to odd world, he is quiet most of the time and nervous too. He is socially awkward and was super awkward when he had explained his situation to Pink. Before anything, yes he's a failed experiment, and yes, Pink welcomed him in despite being awkward herself. So far, Snowflake lived in odd world without worrying the life of the circus weighing down on his shoulders.

Misty Rose = The adopted daughter of Orange and Black, she is a bit hostile and distrustful and is usually seen crossing her arms or wearing a sweater. She was adopted off from Odd World, though Odd World has it all so there's a adoption center for rainbow creatures and human children. Misty Rose was created and then was sent to the center, also yes, Odd World has their own rainbow machine. She is also in love with Mint (A Green X Blue child), and is terrified of Purple, she prefers to keep her distance.

Opal = A decent good friend of Slate, she doesn't really do much in her life. She usually comforts Chocolate whenever Slate is done making her life even more miserable, Opal developed a parental instinct over Chocolate and this caused her and Slate had a falling out. Since then, the two meet with hostility and aggression. She was created at Odd World.

Dark Gray = Our weaponized rainbow creature, he was created at the circus and is now being used as a weapon, they are well aware of it but it learned that if they disobey, he gets locked into a cage like a animal. Dark Gray was already acting more like a animal than a actual rainbow creature. He is easily confused by pretty much anything.

Gray = He used to be Oswald and had done so much damage on the rainbow creatures, especially Red and Purple. Later on, he returned as a Gray cat rainbow creature but soon ended up fucking dying by Bittersweet.

Glowstick = Ah yes, the actual first odd world "color" that was created in odd world. They have the ability to glow in the dark or anytime, and practically can shapeshift. He used to date Violet and had a clean break up, they both just kinda fell out of love. Glowstick at the beginning had a completely different appearance except for her sabortooth like teeth, so when it was ordered to have a new appearance, things went horribly wrong, making her into a failed experiment. There are rumors she might have died but that isn't the case. They aren't dead. She does have crushes on White and Black, and doesn't really know how to act on it so they just kinda. . ."okay".

This Black and White belongs to this person

Carrot Cake = This chubby gal looks like a literal carrot cake, she has the colors of one anyway. She absolutely loves meat and practically will eat meat, chocolate and sweet rolls. She refuses to eat any cake since she says it's cannibalism. Carrot Cake can shapeshift and can practically turn into a puddle whenever she wants and act like she's "melting"

Rosewood = She is a failed experiment, based off of the Pink fanmade design that's more popular than the others. However, her arms were brutally ripped off by her creator, who is unfortunately is unknown right now. She gets along with Yellow the most, since she listens a lot. She absolutely hates scientists and can be aggressive when she wants to be. Nobody knows how she was never transferred to the odd circus despite being a failed experiment.

Yellow = Yellow was created in Odd World, having traits of a cheetah but he isn't fast as Orange, however he's the same height as Orange. Yellow used to be in a relationship with Pink, they got together while Red was gone (more like presumably dead). He has a strong hatred towards Orange and anyone with kill mode. So he despises all the rainbow friends, Pink, Slate and such. Though as much he hates Violet, he is creeped out by her silence.

Lime = This poor guy has no kill mode but when he was first created, he used to be narcissistic and sus, basically a copycat of Jayson (a scientist). Though now, Red had fixed him and now he is pretty chill and crushing on Yellow.

Turquoise = They are a demonic spirit, it's not specific of type of demonic spirit he is but he had died through the experiments. It definitely has kill mode and is forever in it. He has demon and ghost powers such as: possessing bodies and such. It's unknown of what experiment he had been killed by, they just know they died through experiments.

SkyBlue = SkyBlue is based off of some kind of sea monster, though due to this, she can't leave water since she doesn't have legs. However, it doesn't stop her from seeing her girlfriend, Peach (Pink X Yellow child)<3

Magenta 1 = This Magenta is sus as fuvk and acts a lot like Angel Dust and is sus like him, she is enemies with Purple and is practically the favorite of Jessica. She isn't presented when kids are at odd world due to the fact that she's not child friendly, however, later on she does get brutally murdered by 600 KM Red. IT will always be unknown of why Jessica adored her so much though.

Maroon = He absolutely loves the play place and is glad that Red had adopted him and Navy. He was created in Odd World and was taken to the center as well. Though he decided to leave the play place since it was his home, wanting the odd colors to adopt him. Lime, specifically, adopted him.

Navy = She was created and placed in the adoption center, she doesn't talk much but she can be protective over Maroon. She and Maroon were adopted by Red, so now their the adopted children of Red.

Coral = This poor odd color died during one of the experiments, she used to have kill mode before she died. Everyone knows her death, she went crazy and tried to bite Jessica but Vivian had "put her down" so now Coral is just a wandering ghost that never shows up a lot and when they do, it's usually to check on the odd colors to see how their doing.

Cerulean = He used to be a human, so his human life is unknown. Though despite being very emotional, he is infected by KM. Nobody knows how. He is a very forgetful creature, forgetting many things except for his emotional support hoodies. He absolutely loves wearing them. He is surprisingly aggressive whenever he's KM.

Salmon = Salmon was created in the circus, a failed experiment, but he managed to escaped through the sewers, he can easily swim through rivers, oceans, sewage, and such. He's based off of a shark but he has traits of a sea monster. So like a hybrid I guess.

ever since gettin top surgery ive been slightly confused why ppl draw top op scars all jagged like that bcause my experience has always been thin scars that (accordin to my doctor at least) fade relatively easy (bad for me. i want big scars. let me tell u a wild tale.)

like dont get me wrong i love the aesthetic of it but also.

on my right is a thin scar that you gotta search for, on the left is a thin scar leadin to a bigger slug shaped scar that looks like a bruise where i broke the stitches n. didnt get any more stitches for it-

So ive wanted to get into sewing for a while now, got an old sewing machine last year and started buying up end pieces of fabric rolls since theyre cheaper. And lest october i got a project to start me off.

I met sam at the monthly trans* meetup i volunteer at and we were talking about the Phrase:"thats so gender". They then described their gender experience as like a nature mood board. Deep brown and green shades and moss and frogs and all the good stuff. I then offered to make a hat for them that looks like an acorns cap. I also might be crushing on them a bit. So there i go.

Over the following 2 months i took measurements and started looking for the right materials and a proper sewing pattern. The latter proving to be quite difficult.

So i found a nice wooly brown fabric for the outside and a really cute animal print jersey fabric for the inside. I dug out some leftover piece of green denim like fabric for the leaf on top.

So I got all i needed and set up the machine in my room and got to it with the only sewing pattern i found that wasnt meant for being worn off center. What i didnt realize was that the measurements were for a renfaire type beret which is wayyy larger than what i was looking for, so i ended up with this monstrosity.

Which is way too big, ill probably make a handbag or something out of that first attempt. So i went back to the drawing board and after like 30 minutes of looking for a better pattern i said fuck it and made my own.

The first Priority was the shape, i didnt want it to be all wobbly and saggy but instead to have some structure of its own so the simple way of just cutting two circles and making a headhole was out of the question. Therefore the top had to be made out of any number of triangles which would give enough structural support through the stitching lines since the wool fabric is pretty thick. I then went with six because it was the easiest to do since 360°/6 is 60° and it allowed me to work outwards from triangles with all same length sides.

The next issue shapewise was that i didnt want a high ledge but rather a somewhat stiff round shape so i went and mirrored the triangles with my thought being, that i could just cut the mirrored tips to leave a proper sized inner circumference once sewn together.

I did the math and i could not

It would just sit on top of the head, which would be fine for an actual acorn cap but isnt for a hat that is meant to be somewhat everyday viable. So i went with adding trapezoids to the triangles which allowed me to add more depth to the final fitting and properly adding a headband so it would be comfortable.

Heres some drawings and the final cutting pattern.

From there on out it was pretty much all smpoth sailing. I made a little twig and leaf with immense amounts of fabric glue. I mirrored the top shape for the inner lining and put it all together with a 10cm/4inch wide band of fabric.

So here we go, one acoen cap

I cant show it worn yet, since sam has a significantly smaller head than mine, but ill see them this a saturday and if theyre okay with it ill do a followup post

The Patchy Poster:

The Patchy Poster started with just these two, I decided to go with the first poster where Patchy and Patrick are staring at each other. I went with this composition because I think that their poses were good and challenging and going away from the things that I had been drawing throughout the course. The whole plan for this poster was to make Patchy look bloody and real and raw while Patrick looked a little fake ish. It was made to my knowledge that Patchy looked like he had no structure unlike the original thumbnail. I saw this as maybe since Patchy had been in the basement for a while, maybe his structure got all weird? Either way I thought they both looked pretty cool and I think their relationship was shown pretty nicely. Patchy was much taller than Patrick and if he were drawn standing up in the poster then he would have to be hunched over.

Starting on his face I did my best to make it more bloody and muscly. I added some skin patches onto his head to make it a little bit more interesting. There is extra pieces of skin and added onto his chin to make him have some human characteristics. Regarding the rest of his body I made it in a similar way, having harsher darker lines so there was some space between whaat was new muscle and what was old and gross muscle.

Overall I think the way that Patchy turned out was really cool. The patches on his body were probably the hardest part because they were just lumps of flesh and I had to try and make them look like that instead of just coloured spots. When I had finished those and when I had them without the stitching they didnt really look like much but adding the stitches on I think changed how he looked and it bought all of the patches together and he was more fitted to his name. The parts on his arm and around his lower thigh and leg, I wanted them to still be skin because I still wanted it to be like he has some humanity left and hadnt eaten all of himself. The process that I enjoyed the most when creating Patchy was his teeth. I think making them look all gummy and bloody was really fun, adding some personality and showing what his life style had been liked for the past however many years he had been done in the basement. I think Patchy on his own is able to tell a story about what he has gone through and the suffering he has been through which I think that makes him really interesting.

Patrick was hard because he was just a normal man who wore clothes. Creating him was a challenge because of how boring he looked. There were moments where I found myself unsure of what I should add because he just looked so plain. His face however, I think it shows a lot of his personality and that he is proud of the work he has done. I wanted him to look as normal as possible, but with a few things that made him a little bit unnerving, like the blood on hi shoes and the missing fingers on his hand. The skin patch (Which I almost forgot about) I think is also helpful in the way that it helps to link Patchy and Patrick together. What I would change about Patrick however is the way that he was coloured, not a huge fan of how he turned out in the way of colouring. I just felt like there wasnt much for me to do, whereas Patchy there was plenty that could have been done and because he was so strange and unique, it was more fun to do Patchy than it was Patrick. Patrick's hair and beard I like to think shows how old he is and also the state that everything on him is in that he dosent really take good care of himself.

spent the holidays back home with my parents in rural/suburban area, and it just really made me appreciate living in a city, especially a more pedestrian friendly one.

need a specialty ingredient or out of something you need?? can walk to a store in like 20 minutes if i have the time! there’s a drugstore and dollar store a 5 minute walk the other way. the store you’re near is out, there’s 4 other grocery stores and 2 specialty markets in less than a 10 minute drive.

multiple library branches!!! i can literally go wherever i need to for a task and i’m close enough to a library to just pop in, that’s crazy!! i didnt know how easy it was to get a library card, but it was less than 5 minutes, and they have a spice club where they give away new and different spices every month!!

weekly events that happen at different parts of town! a stitch and bitch event and acoustics night at a cafe! a drink and draw night at a bar! food truck friday! sushi discount wednesday!

a designated park that has tons of free events open to the public!! a weekly farmer’s market!!

walk through an alleyway where trash pickup is downtown, and there’s a dresser there someone is tossing that you didnt have the money for! someone’s throwing out trimmings from their bamboo trees, and some hangers that they don’t need anymore!

being able to walk to a place that offers lgbtq+ support! being able to walk somewhere that can just help you file taxes for free! neighborhood pantries and libraries where you can take and give as you need! flyers and organizations that offer participation in mutual aid!!! recycling programs!!! local people have the ability to recycle glass now, and i’ve been able to volunteer and help deliver groceries to people for free in city mutual aid programs here and it’s. just surprisingly easy to just get involved with!

at home, there is one walmart, and a 30 minute drive to get to another, different walmart. it’s over an hour in any direction to go anywhere else. libraries and townhalls are on the opposite side of town from residential areas, fresh produce is sold at a stand like 35 miles away. towns are ripped to shreds and broken apart and the downtown squares are empty. it’s isolating! it’s empty! you cannot walk anywhere!

just made me feel grateful to be somewhere where community isn’t limited to a household. made me feel hopeful about something again.

*Catching my breath like I just ran 10 miles*

#and im not satisfied w the arm on the left but SO BE IT #this is definitely my best drawing yet #in charcoal no less... my not-so-dear friend charcoal #tales from diana #that's winky btw #ive definitely mentioned her before. my childhood dolls. the winkies. there were 3.#the hw assignment was a drapery study but i kinda didnt have the materials to set up a cloth against a plain wall anywhere in my house #i did this in the basement btw. it took like 5 hours. im covered in far more gross debris than just charcoal rn.#im cold. i had to move a lot of stuff. unscrew some bulbs. cover some windows.#found out today that a can of paint can support my body weight btw. i wouldnt have thought.#and also when i was going through my closet for ideal cloths for the assignment i found the winkies #and i was like... oh yes... YOU are a cloth #and youre not too big to set up in my crowded ass basement #and you know what? i couldve searched harder and moved more stuff if i truly WANTED to draw a boring ass cloth #i already did that in class #i wouldve rather drawn a cloth doll. who has meant the world to me for about as long as i can remember #my professor likes when we set up objects in our hw assignments that interest us #and even though the hw did specifically say a sheet or smth like that. u know what. that doll has some drapery going on.#there's nothing she's doing that a cloth can't.#my only regret is that i didn't draw the face stitching and the bow #i honestly thought i was at least gonna draw the bow #but when i drew the shadow of the doll against the board w the compressed charcoal. i was like #i don't have the spoons anymore to fix it if i make a mistake #which is LIKELY on those fine details. like. go-back-and-redo #an-entire-area likely.#i hope my professor likes it!!!!!!! and i also hope the hairspray doesnt resettle any of the charcoal too bad while it's drying #if this looks as good when it's dry as it did the minute i said 'im done w this'... i think i will put this in the student art show #:^)

Okay so. As I’ve said i’ve been deep diving into historical (fashion/uniforms mostly tbh) of Edo periods firefighters. Aka Hikeshi. I am not an expert and I haven’t written in a while and haven’t slept much in a couple days so uh bare with me and please correct me if you know more.

There are of course so many similarities and influences of Hikeshi and their history in Promare. I’m mostly going to just name a few very obvious ones and possibly get too into ‘thinking too much about an anime’ mode on a couple.

Looking up Edo firefighters brings a ton of articles nicknaming it ‘The city of Fires’. “ Edo (sometimes called City of Fires), was perhaps the most fire prone city in the world; there is a saying, “Fires and quarrels are the flowers of Edo, yet the greater essence is the fireman”. There were over five hundred major fires alone in the period between 1851 and 1867. “ There was a mix of reasons for the constant fires, the hot dry weather conditions, how homes were mostly built with timber and paper, the urban population growing quickly and being confined to small places, and...arson. Arson was a factor as the city was restless with their government and many people were in poverty that burning their own houses and commiting crimes as they felt they didnt have much else to lose from doing so. I honestly recommend just quickly reading the wiki article on the arsons committed during that time as many were of the fires were considered something good or positive. All of this are easy comparisons to the Promare universe, though with a fantastical twist of the Burnish being fire alien hosts.

Hikeshi (firemen) units arose to prevent the fires from spreading. Hikeshi were seen as more of a ‘gang’ and were ‘lawless’ as they didn’t obey police authorities. “ A cross between gangsters and firefighters, these men were heroes to the urban population and feared by the authorities for their lawlessness and bravado. “ They worked for the communities safety first and foremost. And Galo sure has a lot of bravado.

As arson was a big factor in the fires, the government created a position outside of Hikeshi that was meant to capture and persecute arsonists. The arsonists punishment was to be burned at the stake. “ As a warning to the public, arrested arsonists were paraded through the city and burned at the stake. “ All this is holds very simple comparisons to how Burning Rescue and Freeze Force operate. There is a lot of tension between Ignis and Vulcan in how each organization handles these ‘fires’. The sad scary influence of this history in Promare being that those who caused the fires were to die by fire.

Galo and his Matoi is a very obvious historical refrence and the movie even explains the pride of Hikeshi spirit in Galo’s slideshow. A very simple definition of a Matoi is a flag used to notify people of a fire and to draw attention to other firemen to help put out the fire. It’s not.. a weapon in the way Galo uses it. Each unit had there own Matoi to identify themselves. There were people who were assigned as Matoi holders of each unit and would infact do what Galo does in being loud and waving the Matoi around and were very much needed and respected in their units.

When I was looking all this up I was mostly researching different things about their uniforms and historical fashion. Looking up Matoi’s you can see how elaborate and unique they were with each Hikeshi unit.

Understandable how Galo’s Matoi was his symbol of pride and handcrafted with such love. Lio making a Matoi for him afterwards must've meant a whole lot to Galo besides the fact of Lio just even remembering what it was. Lio actually payed attention to that slideshow of Galo’s.. he must’ve!

I could talk a bit about the historical uniforms and how intricate and unique each hand embroidered and hand dyed and layer outfit was but ... that doesnt have a connection to Promare and I really do wish Galo had his own unique hand stitched uniform inspired by the Hikeshi. I just headcannon Galo has their old great grandfathers uniform that somehow survived the family’s housefire.

Hikeshi were mostly known to put out fires by destroying and collapsing the houses that were on fire. It was the best means to prevent the fires from spreading. Yet another method was used, “ a type of wooden pump operated by manpower called ryūdosui (竜吐水, "dragon spraying water") was used, but it never became a fully viable means of firefighting due to the lack of uninterrupted water supply. “ Possibly an influence for Lio’s dragon but.. dragons were a big thing in many ways in history so it could be argued that this particular instance in of ‘dragon spraying water’ is just a coincidence and didn’t make the Promare creators go ‘oh lets have a dragon for this exact reason!’.

Sooo there is many things in Promare that was directly influenced by Edo’s history. Galo’s Matoi and passion for Hikeshi being the very obvious one pointed out by the movie itself. But also the power imbalance by the government and the poorer community and how arson and playing with fire was a way to fight back against those in power and how those in power fought back with pure cruelty by turning the arsonists into ash as a warning to others.

Pomare’s creators state how Promare’s main theme is the influence of propaganda skewing facts and causing prejudices. They were focusing and more modern day issues but of course history is very similar to the present in some unfortunate ways sometimes. They may or may not have meant these particular parts of history to be similar to Promare’s plot or storyline and maybe weren’t influenced at all by these events. I just felt like sharing and this is what felt very similar and interesting to state.

If I do have anything wrong or you have more information please add on! Like I stated before I was mostly reading and looking into historical fashion with the Hikeshi when looking them up so i am definitely missing some information.
