man people REALLY can't tell when larian is full on joking in their patch notes, huh? the gale thing was a legitimate bug and people are crying that they changed him as they did lae'zel. reading comprehension these days is abysmal.

I can't be surprised, though, because back when astarion's kiss animation was bugged, I saw discussions that it was "suspicious" that his kiss animation wasn't bugged for the default guy body, but was bugged for the default gal body. you know, as if larian somehow fucked up their own game's code on purpose, specifically to slight women who want to romance a canonically bisexual man that has flirtatious dialogue with the lady companions regardless of your tav's interest in him. totally checks out.

the complaints about changing lae'zel are entirely valid and I agree that her personality should not be toned down to appeal to the delicate sensibilities of the heterosexual man. I'm fairly certain that lae'zel's change was actually the only one that intentionally altered a companion's dialogue to be less abrasive. the alleged change to shart was also a bug fix, not an attempt to alter her character, if I remember correctly.

but by all means, let's accuse the devs of "ruining the game" every time they improve it. even better, let's all campaign for the addition of another romance! solely so that we can have sex with a popular NPC! rather than, oh I don't know, putting more pressure on them to add more material to the stories of wyll & karlach!

I swear, some people really do NOT know what it feels like to play a game where the devs truly and honestly are not listening to the playerbase...or where it takes literal YEARS for them to respond to even a fraction of the players' reasonable concerns & feedback.

judging people who played alan wake 2 solely on if they loved the musical sequence or not

#alan wake 2 #im joking around but also not #such a unique gaming experience that was incorporated w so much love and care #ive seen confusion here and there on why there’s even the musical chapter in-story #mostly when they performed at the game awards lol #but imo it was a great way for Mr Door to work together with the Old Gods and their mode of storytelling/communication (rock and roll!) #to try to tell Alan what’s happening to him to help him rise from the spiral #and of course there’s everything with how much Alan often restrains himself based on rules he imposed on himself #the dark place has its own power and rules with artists work but this was one way of #Alan essentially going ‘I know what’s happening here. I know the rules and I HAVE to do all this to save myself and my loved ones’ #to which Mr Door/Old Gods go ‘you absolutely do not [throws Alan in musical]’ #something something about how it helped put him in the mindset he was at the end of the game #to realize he could work w saga and not sacrifice Logan or Casey. that he’s not in a hopeless loop of destruction #but in a spiral with hopes of ascension and change #(basing this off the initial ending — haven’t finished the Final Draft) #alan wake #I don’t know if im making sense but that was my interpretation #my other explanation for the musical is that it’s there because it’s fucking awesome and creative #reminds me of the starkid ‘guy who didn’t like musicals’ with the confusion of the main character #(although hilariously it seems like Alan is proud of the musical even if he lives in a state of ‘wtf is happening’) #before my essays in the tags end want to say that the dark ocean summoning also deserves this love and I found it equally fun to ‘We Sing’

Tbh Dirge of Cerberus' actual gameplay isn't as bad as I was expecting it to be, like I'm almost 4 missions in and I still haven't died, but the gameplay getting interrupted every 5 minutes by some kind of micro cutscene is driving me up the wall. Did they really have to stop the action just to show a common model NPC walking out of scene. Was that 100% necessary

Sometimes I wonder what weird archaic stuff is still rattling around Arasaka’s corporate structure given it’s been a zaibatsu for like 100 years or so. Mostly I wonder what network ghosts and other haunted technical infrastructure they have because lemme tell you, hypercapitalist sprawling tech companies have some Shit going on in the background and it never gets fixed until the people thanklessly duct taping it back into place give up or die. Imagine the technical debt going on in like the HR system while R&D gets all the shiny new toys, and then someone has to make all these systems talk to each other.

So, let's start with the goodest boy, Dogday! Named Daisuke and a son of Zeus, a natural-born leader, with all the weather manipulation and everything a child of Zeus can do.

Catnap is a child of Hypnos, named Cassander. He eepy. Able to induce sleep, manipulate dreams, shadows, and even create illusions. So, not too different from canon!Catnap, except he's not evil, just eepy.

Picky is named Pauline; her friends call her Polly. As a child of Demeter, she always has some snacks on her, which she grew herself.

Bubba is now Berthold, son of Athena. He's Daisuke's go-to for strategy in a fight or games. He's a crafty one.

Kickin and Craftycorn are now Keith and Mariah, respectively, as the only siblings* in the group. Both are children of Apollo, with Mariah having an affinity for art in all its forms and Keith being more of a healer and musician.

Bobby is a child of Aphrodite named Rosa Maria. She's not too different from her canon self, except she can Charmspeak and isn't afraid to throw hands with anyone messing with her friends.

Last, but certainly not least, is Hoppy, now Hope, a daughter of Hermes. She's really more attuned to the athletic abilities she's inherited from her father, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have some thief aspects to her. Both Keith and Rosa have complained about her stealing their stuff.

*The only siblings that are blood-related; Cass and Polly are step siblings.

And that's it, for now! I just wanted to get the idea out, because it's rotting my brain.

sweet/spicy/savoury: idk i like treats of both the sweet and savoury variety (separately) i think this is a weird question for me to answer. actually buying nice treats is costly so most of the time i’m just eating savoury for sustenance? preparing something sweet myself is a hassle.

current obsession: i’m not deeply obsessed with it right now but my active interest is still durarara at the moment, still thinking of and not finishing a bunch of things i want to do for it and last night was a deep shopping spree for mostly durarara merch. i do get like, pretty invested in some of the games connor plays in the moment though, like super mario rpg went hard (such a charming game) and still thinking about detective grimoire which he played for like 10 minutes i wish he’d play for more. i do just watch that guy a lot. i’ve also got genshin back in the schedule again (sorry) and am pretty into the card game, which oddly enough is making me feel like reading some fic.
