Hi! I hope you’re doing good in life.
What do you think of a phantom hourglass remake? Tbh I don’t know how they could remake it without basically remaking it from the ground-up. It would probably play more like windwaker, which I see as a both a good and bad thing. On the one hand, if it was more like windwaker a lot more people would probably play and it would be more popular since I know the touch controls were a turn off for most people for both Spirit Tracks and Phantom hourglass. But on the other hand, remaking it to be more like windwaker would make the game lose some of it’s previous identity. Like, Phantom hourglass was so unique because of the touch controls and the puzzles you can make and solve by having two screens and touch controls. And it was so nifty and handy to be able to write notes on your map. Idk, I still would like it to be remade in general even if it ends up a basically different game, but I wouldn’t change the story or the characters, especially Linebeck. The only other change I would make is the music. Phantom hourglass had rather weak themes, mainly because they re-used the same theme for the islands and the dungeons. The only songs that were really good were the few orginal tracks made for the game, so Linebeck’s theme, Oshus’s theme, both Bellum boss battle themes and the and that music that plays when you first follow the Ghost Ship. But what would you want out of a phantom hourglass remake?
Hey, I’m doing good, and I hope you are too!
I’ve thought a bit about a possible Phantom Hourglass remake, but not too much recently. I don’t really know if I’d want one, since you’d lose a lot of what really makes it special, and you can still play it through other means. I’m personally fond of the graphics and the music- yes, even the dungeon theme has grown on me- so I don’t really want a remake too badly, especially since I fear any additions/changes they might make with story or characters in a remake. The touch controls make it, and playing it on pc recreates that feeling decently well, but I don't think it'll be just the same if you had to control it with joysticks or anything.
Not to mention, there's so much emphasis on having the two screens, too, not just for map stuff, but almost every single boss had a mechanic related to the top screen! I have no fucking clue how you'd replicate that very well on something like the switch without just fucking with the mechanics altogether.
I would kill to hear some of Phantom Hourglasses tracks be orchestrated or otherwise rearranged in a higher quality. I wouldn't want any of the more notable themes altered in any way, no adding or removing of melodies and only very very small changes to the instrumentation, but I think it'd be neat to see what could be done with dungeon themes. I think a while back I had a fleeting desire to write some short tracks for each dungeon, with some ideas like mostly using instruments heard in Bellum's themes for the dungeons while each individual one gets a leading instrument unique to and reflective of the dungeon, while the Ghost Ship maybe gets a song that's a bit of a expanded version of the fog theme, while the Temple of the Ocean King could have slightly different themes the further in you got, starting with instruments more common to Oshus's theme or the great sea theme, while the further in you got the more instruments from Bellum's theme would be heard, plus some harpsichord thrown in for the hell of it.
Leave the original dungeon theme for stuff like the minor pyramids and some larger cave areas, idk. It's grown on me.
I think the only story rearranging I'd want is mayyyyybe unfridging Tetra? You could very easily shuffle some things around with her and just not damsel her for the whole game and honestly it'd still go off perfectly without a hitch. But you'd still have to deal with the World of the Ocean King being a whole other world, so either bring her and her crew in and have them as wandering ship npcs (the better idea) or just leave them out (not a good idea) but either way it's better than what they actually did. I just don't think I'd want it to switch to Tetra being a major reoccurring character tbh, the main character dynamics in PH are good as they are.
I think I like Phantom Hourglass too much as it is to really want a remake at all. I'd rather we get something like an anime adaptation. That's what I think about more. Give me animated Phantom Hourglass with some fun takes on the dungeons and fights and some fun slice of life stuff with the group between the islands what I want is a Phantom Hourglass anime
#asks#zeldanamikaze#salty talks#loz#legend of zelda#phantom hourglass#kinda just boils down to like. i kinda want it to remain untouched with nothing added or removed if that makes sense#different themes for the dungeons would be rlly cool. harpsichord for deeper ocean king temple floors bc its where you meet linebeck#also vague foreshadowing? as an aside how many other loz songs have harpsichord in it im very curious to know#also. i say i dont mind the dungeon theme while also not really minding my tinnitus so also take that in mind maybe. brain go brrrrrr#i think adding tetra in to the main crew of ph would kinda be a bit much and also maybe not add very much. fyi i have not played ww#but i feel like it'd almost be adding another ciela cuz shed support link and be more barbed and bold with a side of less morally upstandin#so i dont really think she'd being much new to the ph crew table and i wouldnt want her there in a remake cuz they might pull the#goddess blood card and i really really like how ph has fuck all to do with hyrule or any of that nonsense#sorry this took so long btw. i dont think much abt a ph remake so i dont have a lot of notes#additions? idk add more rooms to linebecks ship. let us poke around in a few areas. maybe potion storage. give link a room#let us poke around in linebeck's room when possible. put smth fun in there. pull a wilds era and give him a journal for us to check out#what they did with tetra kills me (but not too much since i dont rlly have thoughts on tetra) bc you could just remove her entirely#and the story would still work really well anyways. holy character fridging batman#idfk. give us a silly loz dating game. make linebeck an option. thats what i wanna see

beach days.
you spend a lot of time on the beach in your free hours lounging around. go off swimming in the ocean. the sun is like a warm blanket wrapped around your body that came fresh out of the dryer. filming him on a cam-recorder when he backflips from a cliff. he somehow tricks you onto the cliff with him occasionally.
late night on the beaches or watching the sunset is the best part. your sides bumping into one another as you walk barefoot along the shoreline feeling the warm sand between your toes and chill seawater slash up onto your ankles. he swings your sandals back and forth from the straps of your sandals since he offered to carry them for you knowing that you hated carrying them yourself. admiring the sunset ahead of you or the moon above you.
boat days.
the sun shone on them basking in it's warmth. a good way to celebrate a podium win for paul. you hit the sea together for a weekend to be still and peaceful in just nothingness. away from his fast life to just have a moment of tranquility together. it’s makes moments like this more special. your legs spread laying onto top of his as your back leans against the comfortable plush white cushions of the boat. his hands soothing rubbing up and down your legs. his pink swimming trunks clad against his thighs after taking a dip into the water. his initials on a chain around your neck.
supporting him during races. through thick and thin and high and lows.
you're always spotted in a secluded corner on the floor of the prema truck. you’re seated together his jacket draped over to you keeping the chill off of you. if qualifying doesn’t go well that day you would sit in comfortable silence whilst reassuring his negative thoughts and feelings through physical touch. your head resting against his shoulder, your slight grazes over his hand, the feeling of you fiddling with his fingers, or the traces on the lines of his palms. just a reminder that everything will be okay. a feathery kiss on the top of his head with a whisper of praise makes him believe that he can do better tomorrow and make all his nerves disappear into thin air.
quality time ( exercise ver. )
you wake up tangled limbs in the sheets of your shared king-sized hotel room bed. the waves crashing on shore was heard from the cracked open balcony doors. seagulls flying around in the early morning blue sky. you vaguely remember him mentioning earlier that morning that he was going for a run before pressing a gentle kiss on your temple before leaving.
some mornings or evenings you would attend runs with him and karl. even staying with him when he works out in the gym maybe getting a mile or two in on the treadmill. he enjoys quality time with you. so, even if you're just sitting crisscrossed on a yoga mat watching him he enjoys it.
he’d convince you that he needs a spotter. even if the weights are a bit too heavy for you and you could help him only very little if you needed too. he still enjoys having your company and letting you feel included. he lightens the load of his weights when you finally do agree on spotting him.
"nii lõbus ei tohiks trennis olla. ( exercise shouldn't be this fun )."
traveling to tallinn and races with him when you can.
traveling around northern italy on a vespa, him driving you around as your arms are wrapped around his torso. towards the end of the night you ride towards a fancy friendship dinner date.
you settled in flimsy chairs on the balcony of your shared hotel room trying out different pastas and slices of pizza from restaurants attempting to find the best one in the country that you’re visiting.
while visiting his home in tallinn he would ensure to bundle you up in thick coats for the cold estonian weather. crunched snow underneath your boots a trail of footsteps in the white left behind you as you take a walk in the snowy weather around midnight.
his siblings.
during, your friendship with paul you’ve become close with his siblings, anna and ralf. anna is like a sister to you. ralf gives you lots of advice and shows embarrassing childhood pictures of paul. which for the record you find oh-so adorable and he finds incredibly embarrassing. you’ve grown expectably close to them due to tagging along on family vacations occasionally since him and his family seem typically fond of your presence. him and his extended family tend to have dinners when his finally back home leading to you practically being apart of his family since you sit in with so many of his family dinners and get to know his close and distant relatives.
"meil peres juba uus ralliäss kasvamas ( we already have a new rally ace growing up in our family )."
teaching you phrases in estonian.
after expressing that you wanted to learn how to speak his native language to speak to his family in the most comfortable way for them and show gratitude towards his parents for raising him the way that they did. he taught you simple phrases, to begin with just enough to get you around his home country without being completely lost.
dino and ollie.
after getting introduced to dino and ollie during the first race you attended with paul you’ve become quick friends with them since it was so easy to speak with them. your often spotted joking around with dino and ollie. just chilling on the floor of the prema truck goofing off with them even walking around the track with them. especially, dancing around with dino to whatever song that plays from his playlist on rainy qualifying days. you was there with the prema team supporting ollie’s debut in formula one.

Hi it’s phantom Anon, and while I’m sad I won’t get to see Wind possessing a phantom cause well circumstances. If he could though, what would his favorite phantom to possess be. Heck what about Spirit Zelda?
Hi Phantom Anon!
I’m sorry Wind can’t help out in the Tower of Spirits. When considering different options, this one just seemed to work best. Still, I won’t rule out the possibility of him possessing a phantom completely. There is a moment in the game in which Zelda possesses a Phantom without being in the Tower. Wind’s involvement in this part isn’t set yet, but I have definitely started thinking about it. That said, I won’t give a definite yes or no to anything involving that.
This is a really fun question, and I’ll do you one even better! I’ll give you each member of the trio’s favorite and least favorite type of phantom! (Spirit’s opinion is not based on possession, but rather based on his experience with having them as both an enemy and an ally.)
That said, we’ll start with Spirit.
Spirit:
Spirit’s favorite is the Torch Phantom. Not only can they do everything a basic phantom can, but they have a little extra usefulness. It’s easy to see them coming in the dark, and when Zelda possesses them, having that sword nearby to light up the dark areas and deal with those ghost enemies (The Nocturns) is very helpful. He hates the dark rooms, but Zelda by his side with that flaming sword makes it easier.
Spirit’s least favorite is definitely the Warp Phantom. They’re the hardest to stay away from at times, and even though you can get rid of their little Phantom Eyes, they respawn pretty quickly. Sure, when Zelda possesses them, it’s cool that she can warp around, but he feels the negatives far outweigh the positives with this one. He just hates dealing with them.
Wind:
Wind thinks trying new things is really fun, but his favorite to possess, if given the opportunity, would actually be the normal one. He’s a very skilled fighter and adapter, so while trying out each type is really cool, he really doesn’t feel like he needs the fancy gimmicks of the others. A good, solid sword and shield suit him just fine. Plus, these guys are everywhere in the Tower, meaning more opportunity to possess one. He’d just be happy that he’s able to help out at all.
Wind’s least favorite would be the Wrecker Phantom. It’s a cool one in theory, for sure, but it seems like it would just get in the way at times which isn’t ideal. Not only that, but the Wrecker Phantom has to sacrifice some abilities of the other phantoms. That said, he much prefers being able to use a weapon to just rolling over things. Also, Wind gets dizzy if you have him roll too much in Phantom Hourglass. I think being a Wrecker Phantom would make him feel the same way.
Given his personal experience with Phantoms during his time traversing the Ocean King’s temple, the Wrecker Phantoms are more of an unknown to him than the other kinds. He knows at least the basics of what to expect for the other ones, even if there are some differences. Plus, even the Torch Phantom, while not one he personally encountered before, is still similar enough to the normal one for him to have a decent idea on it.
Zelda:
Zelda’s favorite to possess is the Warp Phantom, much to Spirit’s dismay. As far as she’s concerned, this whole situation sucks, but she might as well get to try out a Phantom’s cool abilities. Warping is an odd experience for her, but she can’t say she hates it. Plus, she doesn’t have to sacrifice other abilities for it. If she comes across a mouse, maybe she’ll be able to control herself just long enough before she freezes in fear to warp away? At least, that’s her hope. (Also, she likes the design of them.)
Her least favorite is the Normal Phantom for pretty much the same reason the Warp is her favorite. She enjoys trying out the different abilities, and the Normal Phantom is… normal. She doesn’t hate it, but it’s pretty boring as far as the phantoms go. Plus, she’s not a skilled fighter like Wind and Spirit are. She relies more heavily on helping through the abilities the different phantoms offer rather than through pure fighting ability.

Can I honestly ask, if you could write a post Journey story were the Tang Monk apologize to Sun Wokung for how he treated him how would it go?
Oh dang, this was actually a pretty fun request! I hope I did these characters, their circumstances, and the religious context justice.
---
Perhaps it was because he had long lived in fear of who or what might try to eat or molest him next, but the end of the journey came to the being once known as Golden Cicada less as a blessing and more as a relief. It had certainly been one to his disciples. Sun Wukong looked more relaxed than the former Tang Monk could ever remember him being, Zhu Bajie was still grumbling loudly if cheerfully about being left to clean alters (even as his mouth was already watering at the prospect of all he would get to eat), and Sha Wujing was even now embracing deities that Xuanzang came to understand had been good friends of the former sand monk before he had been thrown out of heaven, all of them relishing their reunification at last. Even Ao Lie--who Xuanzang had only really known as his inexhaustible mount--had shifted into a human form before giving all the other members of the journey a long farewell and, bursting suddenly into the shape of a glorious dragon, took off for the ocean that was his first home, promising them in a thundering voice that he would visit soon. The dragon prince had seemed particularly sad about leaving Sun Wukong, and the monkey king himself had surreptitiously brushed a stray tear away as they all watched Ao Lie leave before he turned to Xuanzang, his expression defined by a contemplative cheekiness.
"So what next for you, shifu? With your new lotus throne you could visit all the temples in the world in a single day if you so wished, even without old monkey guarding your every step!"
Xuanzang grinned, glad that becoming a buddha had not stopped his first disciple from approaching the world with a sense of fun, even if at his shifu's expense.
"I actually thought that I might visit your mountain home and see for myself the splendors you often reminisced on."
Xuanzang had hoped that his words would be met with adulation and perhaps a little ribbing about a holy man even now still wanting to indulge in earthly delights, but the newly appointed Buddha Victorious in Strife instead went suddenly, unnaturally still. The monkey king's face, so peaceful but a moment ago, started to show signs of a creeping fear.
Xuanzang coughed slightly, his throat suddenly dry from emotions he had hoped his ascension might have left behind. "Sun Wukong. Please. Tell me honestly what you want."
The monkey king's hand abruptly shot up to his head, touching, Xuanzang realized with a sudden, unexpected, and sickening feelings, the same spot where the golden fillet that he had so often used against his first disciple once sat.
"Shifu, I...I will be as honest as you ask. Our new honorable positions have given me a state of peace that for these many years on our journey I did not believe possible. But it has not dulled my longing to return to Mt. Huaguoshan or my desire to live with what remains of my family. And...and this is a part of my life that I do not want to share with you."
The monkey's serene face abruptly screwed itself into a grin that Tang Sanzang, wishing all over again that he knew what he knew now when he was younger, recognized as a grin of fear.
"Were the claims about becoming a buddha false, shifu? Why even now is my heart filled with doubts and screaming fears? I think about you coming back with me to my old home...and I see you scorning my little ones. I imagine you scolding them for their monkey natures with all the ferocity that your renewed position as a buddha has not erased from your heart. And even though it is gone I still feel the gold fillet around my head! It makes me wonder! Would my shifu ask for the fillet back, put it on one of my grandchildren's heads, and use it to control them as he once controlled me?! Why does he want to visit a land filled with creatures so similar to the one he spent fourteen years berating?! Would my shifu ask for the fillet to be placed once again on my head so that he could use me against the yaoguai of Mt. Huaguoshan?! Would he hurt my little ones?! Would he use me as his instrument to do so?! SHIFU-!!"
Sun Wukong threw himself at Tang Sanzang's feet in a sudden show of absolute, terrified submission in spite off the staring, whispering deities all around them.
"I know you never forgave me for trying to kill you, but please!! My little ones are innocent! I have taken so many yaoguai lives for you! I have been blinded and scorched in your service! I spent these last fourteen years protecting you from every calamity that came your way! Please! Please..."
Xuanzang could not see Sun Wukong's face, pressed to the stone walkway as it was, but he did see the dampness formed from the monkey king's steadily flowing tears.
"Please keep punishing me if you want. But leave my little ones be."
Xuanzang supposed that he should have been shocked at this outburst, but he was not. Some part of him, more clear now than it had been when he was fully mortal and fully under the thrall of the excuses humans give themselves every day, had long known that this was what his first disciple had come to think of his master. The being once known as Golden Cicada crouched down in front of the stone monkey. Sun Wukong remained in his bow, but he did peek up at his shifu, his permanently reddened eyes bright with fear.
And then, the newly appointed Buddha of Candana Merit bowed deeply to his fellow simian.
"I understand why you feel this way. I...I was a young man when our time together started, puffed with pride in myself as the chosen bearer of the journey's burden. And then I spent many years after being reminded over and over again just how weak I actually was. All those yaoguai, looking at my bound body with hunger, muttering to themselves about what would flavor my meat best, p...pawing at my exposed flesh...I once told you that I would rather perish than kill another, but the truth is that I hated them and wanted them all to die. You were my protector, my savior on so many occasions, and the one who fulfilled that wish that I did not even dare to admit to myself. In...in my mind, you--a yaoguai and a being so capable of murder--became a constant reminder of everything I hated most about my situation and about myself. I did not trust you when I should have. I held on to my anger no matter what you did for me. Because for all the excuses I gave myself, you were the one being that I had any modicum of power over, the one being who I could express all the fury I came to foster against your kind and against myself."
Sun Wukong was staring at Tang Sanzang unabashedly and with a flurry of emotions flickering across his weathered face. The monk forced himself to continue.
"The...the way I treated you was abominable. I gave myself reason after reason, excuse after excuse, but it was ultimately all to soothe my own jealously and fear. Sun Wukong, I am so, so sorry."
He held up a hand when the monkey king moved to speak. "Before you reply, know that I will never expect nor demand your forgiveness. If you do not want me at Mt. Huaguoshan I will not go. If...if you would rather we go our separate ways and never speak again, I will respect that wish. It...it is the least I owe you. You have little reason to trust me. But I will never, ever hurt you again. I swear it."
Tang Sanzang could almost feel the discontent and even outright anger pouring from the still listening deities over the fact that a newly appointed buddha was showing such deference to the yaoguai who had once razed heaven. Perhaps it was his new buddha nature, but Tang Sanzang could not find it in himself to care.
The Buddha Victorious in Strife did not seem to be able to believe what he was hearing. His eyes flickered gold for a few moments, and while he understood Xuanzang could not help but feel sorrowful at the understanding that his first disciple felt he had to check his shifu's words to see if the former Tang Monk was speaking falsehoods. But the truth of Xuanzang's statement were confirmed. The monkey king got out of his bow and helped his shifu up from his. They regarded each other for a few seconds before Sun Wukong gave his reply.
"I can't forgive you now. I...I don't know if I ever will. But maybe some day."
The Tang Monk offered his disciple a small smile defined by all the understanding that his new buddha nature had helped him reach. "Sun Wukong, that is all that I could ever wish."
For the first time since they had first met, the monkey regarded the monk not with malice or fondness, not with agony or desperation, but with pure respect. The two bowed to each other in farewell. Sun Wukong mounted his cloud, and in an instant disappeared.
His robes slightly swirling from the gust of wind the monkey king had left in his wake, Xuanzang regarded the endless sky. He felt a little cheated that his current existence as a buddha had not actually resolved his all-too-human capacity for desires, fears, and yes, jealousy and anger. For Sun Wukong had talked often of Mt. Huaguoshan, describing it as a paradise whose natural delights far outshone that of any human design. And it had fostered yet another long-unspoken desire in Xuanzang's heart to see it for himself. To see, at least for a short time, what it might be like to exist as content as a mountain monkey that lived in a bliss of feasts of fruit and the pleasure of trusted companions.
But for all that he had completed the journey and become a buddha once again, there was still a set of sins on Xuanzang's soul that demanded atonement. And the price of this atonement, for all that it asked him to simply not go to one part in the wide world and not interact with one person and their family, filled his head and his heart with a hot pain, each one of its needles another reminder on just how often, now that everything was said and done, he had failed and failed again to support the one individual who had so often and at such enormous personal cost supported him. A small part of him wanted to cry out and demand that Sun Wukong take him to that mountain no matter how the monkey felt.
But there would be no justice in such an action. In their last conversation, Xuanzang's head and heart had been filled with a comprehension of Sun Wukong's own frustrations and desires and pain, a comprehension that did not permit for any of the excuses that Xuanzang had often given himself to justify his own wants taking priority over those of his first disciple. It made Xuanzang wonder, at least for the more recent classes of buddha, if this is what a more "human" kind of nirvana was; not an end to that which was behind your own earthly suffering, but the ability to drink deeply from the well of understanding on what lay behind the pain of others, and in so doing live in comprehension of what decisions might best alleviate such agony for all parties involved.
It was not what he had expected, but there was a great deal of good he could potentially do if this was what his buddha nature had granted.
Xuanzang sent one last wish of good fortune to Sun Wukong before turning around and striding back into the complex, the eyes of multiple deities still on him. He was new to his appointment, but there was already much to be done. Xuanzang, after all, had an entire heaven that he had to convince to permanently leave Mt. Huaguoshan and all its inhabitants be.
Xuanzang allowed himself a private smile, wondering if in some way the best parts of his first disciple had influenced his own train of thought. As a human monk he would never have even imagined formulating the desire to attempt such a thing. But as the Buddha of Candana Merit, he was audacious enough to try.

ATLA fics that read like Muffinlance's? I've made my way thru almost her whole catalogue, I adore them, and I CRAVE MORE.
So I'm almost 3 years out of the game in terms of keeping up with ATLA fic-writing fandom, but some suggestions:
Check the "inspired by" sections on muffinlance's fics. For example, here's the list for Salvage (it's quite long!). These might vary a lot in technique and tone, but they were all made by people who love the same stories we do
muffinlance's gifts on AO3 - This group will have a lot of overlap with the first one, b/c many people who write "inspired by" works also gift them to muffinlance, but it's worth knowing about, and I've found some fun stories searching through here!
muffinlance's bookmarks - These will be more varied in fandom (muffinlance reads in several fandoms) but she has GREAT taste. I've found a lot of fics I loved from her bookmarks -- in particular, snipers solve 99% of all problems changed my entire experience with online fandom
ml's #fic rec tag on tumblr -- probably a lot of overlap with the first three, but she also promos some tumblr-only authors there
Captainkirkk/aloneintherain is another fic reccer to check out, I might have heard about muffinlance from her recs actually. Her blog has an atla recs tag, a weekly fic roundup tag, and a general fic rec tag which includes recs people submit
You'll notice I've been suggeting methods to find fics rather than linking specific fics, because tbh I'm not really sure what "reads like muffinlance" at this point. She's a fantastic author with a pretty distinctive voice, and there's a lot more fantastic authors in this fandom but I'm not sure if they'll appeal to you for the same reasons muffinlance does. A lot of my favorites are the obvious popular ones (The Dragon-King's Temple by kryal, the first third of Embers by Vathara, Another Brother by AvacadoLove)... okay some fewer-hit-count faves that you might not have encountered: The Best Path by EudociaCovert, Imagine the Ocean (and sequels) by Damkianna, definitely not suspicious at all in the least by presumenothing, Sweat and Ginseng by Taliax. You could also check my bookmarks, I've got about 60 public ones
If you're okay with other fandoms, I recommend the authors metisket and polynya on AO3, their stories make me happy in a similar way to how muffinlance's make me happy :P

I love making OCs, but as I keep refining the design of my newest one I feel the struggle of giving good representation to all of them.
Some of them I haven't drawn in forever, while some are new and need more art to express themselves. Some are old favorites of mine who I'll draw every now and then, and some used to be favorites of mine but I haven't had new material for them in forever. Some were fun to design but they were used in short adventures and I never explored them too much. Some I used to like but I look at today and feel they'd be in need of a re-design. And some were conceptualized for adventures that haven't yet took off the ground, and maybe never will. I'm ashamed to say there's even some others I sometimes forget about.
I've decided to compile a short list, more or less in chronological order. Most of them are from DnD games or other TTRPG settings ranging from Fantasy, Cyberpunk and even Steampunk, but I'm including my two FFXIV characters in here as well as honorary OCs because of how much I've written about them.

Today's NPC from Phantom Hourglass is our local island grandpa, Oshus! I feel like I struggled a lot with drawing Astrid and Zauz, but even though I don't draw elderly characters much...I really like how Oshus came out? I enjoyed giving little flourishes here and there with the line art, and his outfit was fun to draw.
It's too bad he appears in only one game. I love how Phantom Hourglass implies he's more of a badass than you think, since he does give Link the sword you use for most of the game, and he even went into the corrupted Temple of the Ocean King to study the big bad Bellum for weaknesses prior to Link's arrival. Also the scene where he snatches the blade of the sword from Link is one of the funniest scenes in Zelda.
I wonder if we'll ever get to re-visit the world of the Ocean King in a future Zelda game...probably not, seeing as Termina, the Twilight Realm, Holodrum and Labrynna are also never re-visited, but I think there's potential for more stories set outside Hyrule.

Finally got a semblance of free time to play the Recently Released Videogame! No plot discussions happen in this post, I just gush about the little things.
My experience is, uh. Suboptimal. I am grateful my laptop can emulate Switch at all, but when your average FPS is around 5, only gets as high as 12 and has a tendency to go into decimals or freeze, fast-paced combat gets hard.
Despite that, the gameplay is fun! All the abilities are such a blast, and compliment one another nicely: for example, I cheesed one part of a certain shrine by Ultrahanding a platform in one place in the air for a bit, then effectively Stasising it with Recall, then Ascending on top of that still-Recalled platform, and then getting additional height by shield-jumping on a shield fused with a spring. Just for funsies. The intended solution was to essentially shield-surf on a short straight rail.
God I love fusing springs to shields. Revali who. My Bomb Flower count is criminally low, as I haven't figured a way to dupe them w/o exploding, and I don't have consistent source of rockets yet, but the springs are relatively early-game and do their job pretty well!
You know what I love even more than that? Glitches :^). And they're finally easy enough for me, a total noob, to perform. I only duped materials so far, timing a frame-perfect weapon dupe on my suboptimal setup sounds hard... but I wanna try and transfer the legendary MsgNotFound one of these days. I was so lucky to find a diamond in one of the caves tho!
Did you know that the shrine lobby (a tiny area seen through the entry portal) can serve as a cover for your campfire during rainy weather? It made more sense in BоTW, as Shеikah shrines were more material, but beggars can't be choosers.
So far my playthrough fits the "feral Lonk" stereotype. Towns are laggy, so I mostly wander around the wilderness aimlessly. The overall plan is to grind the full second stamina wheel + activate a few towers, then go get the Heart Container from the Great Plateau quest, get the Master Sword, grind shrines for hearts and only then hit a couple of dungeons. After that, joining the Yıga is a must. I'm not even sure I'll be able to fight the dungeon bosses or G-man with how hard even the basic combat currently is, so my only hope is to be able to tank through damage.
I wanted to get the Lobster Tunic so badly, but the guys at Lurеlin keep kicking my ass :^(.
Sadly, it seems you cannot skip the first memory. The puddles just aren't anywhere inside the geoglyphs.
Fujibаyashi-san loves to put the "temporary equipment loss moment" in all of the series entries done under him (except MC), and in TоTK alone there's soooo many. It's a whole shrine subset now, not to mention the dedicated pantsless quest in the gazette storyline. Wonder how's the Еvеntide doing these days - judging by a chasm, it doesn't seem like a similar event will take place here.
Speaking of chasms on the islands... Remember the PH-themed archipelago in the wetlands? There's a chasm on Mercay island. You know. The island where the Temple of The Ocean King is located. Something about the way BоTW/TоTK genuinely appreciates DS games feels very vindicating. First Monster Cake being a chancellor's favourite dessert, then the Phantom armor being one of the most OP sets, and now this chasm.
I saw Flowerblight :з.
Ang got owned by the Floormasters Gloom Hands once. Not touching them with a sturdy-stick-stick before I get s'more hearts, I know what comes after.
The guy with the sign! Such a cute concept, and the rewards are always so generous!
Depths are weird. The flora is super cool, and the landscape is twisted to a degree that merely figuring out how to get from point A to point B becomes a nontrivial challenge. Collecting Poes is fun, and I love getting the uncorrupted weapons from the ghosts of the past. Everything else scares me shitless. Mostly
Catching a Star fragment mid-air feels downright magical. I know they were probably coded with exactly that method of aquisition in mind, but it always feels like such a lucky catch.
Saw Nауdra once. Got the scale. Fused it to a spear. Now the spear looks like a comically large spoon, and I can't keep a straight face when this thing pops across half a screen, so I never equip it, but don't unfuse it either out of respect for the comedy aspect. The only funnier weapon that I've got so far is the honeycomb boomerang I got from a monster camp (the idea is genius, and I have honeycombs to maybe recreate it later), which is currently fused to a surprisingly high-damage Boko arm.
Yeah, I'm not unfusing my comically large Nауdra spon until I get a camera and take a selfie with it.
I always feel bad when fighting the apple-collecting Bokos. They have tiny Boko baskets on their backs :^(. They're just little guys :^(.
PORTABLE COOKING POTS. AND MULTIPLE TRAVEL MEDALLIONS THAT AREN'T LOCKED BY A DLC. YES.
Purаh is the prettiest woman to grace this world.

Just finished phantom hourglass for the 2nd time and oh my gosh I’m just gonna ramble about it
This game is truly underrated and overhated in my eyes. I can understand why some people wouldn’t like it, but oh my gosh this game is so special to me. The first time I played it I didn’t really enjoy it, possibly because I went in expecting the worst game in existence and I was very cruel towards it. But second time around it truly is wonderful to me. Sure the world is a little empty, and the music is pretty weak, but all the good things stand out to me. The good songs slap so hard, the islands you explore after defeating the ghost ship are so much fun, and the bosses and dungeons are incredible.
Surprisingly, the ocean king temple wasn’t that annoying second time around! I didn’t have a guide and it was more fun to just head in guns blazing not knowing what to expect than to have a guide. And it wasn’t agony to go through! Sure, having to redo the puzzles was very painful, but most of the time you were able to make shortcuts with the new items you got. And the last time going through it, hooooo man I love being able to kill the phantoms lol. Makes you feel fearless.
The final bosses weren’t as difficult this time around, mostly since I knew what to expect, but they were still challenging enough to really show the threat that is Bellum and Bellumbeck. And AAAH bellumbeck. Ah bellumbeck.
Apparently you can counter his spin attack with his own? I didn’t know that so you can imagine how much easier it is to fight bellumbeck when you do that dhksdbksbd. Bellumbeck’s spin attack is brutal and unavoidable.
Anyways the ending always warms my heart, the characters warm my heart, and I love this game. It’s made it to the top three despite its flaws, and I adore it to death.

post the first line from the last 10 fics you posted (and are there any patterns?) - I got tagged by @scarrletmoon, @spirker, @mxmollusca, and @chaotic-neutral-knitter <3 <3 <3
You Made It Home with Silver String Unbroken
It occurs to Stede, halfway to the shore, that he shouldn’t leave Ed waiting back in the trees.
Made for Each Other
The man wakes, warm, in his own bed, a ghost of pain in his belly but otherwise all right. For a second he thinks - maybe - but no, his head weighs as much as it always has.
How to Make a Lifelong Romantic Commitment and Escape the Temple of the Snake
‘Where should I begin?’ Ed asks nervously.
More of the Gravy Basket than of the Grave
‘Occludist Ed Teach completed his 88th Occludement in the last four months, breaking a record that had stood since 1924 for most Occludements in a three month span. Occludist Teach serves at the pleasure of the Crown as a former Apprentice Occludist, and thus is duty bound to perform Occludements, but he has been seeking out more than are required of him since the very public dissolution of his unorthodox friendship with independent Occludist Stede Bonnet, who purchased his Temple membership earlier this year. Bonnet, who has not performed an Occludement since the tragic end of the Badminton Affair in July, refused to comment.’ Occludist Weekly , November 2023
The Kissing Game
‘Can I kiss you?’
Five Ways That Could Have Gone Better (and One Way It Maybe Will)
‘Don’t do it, Stede. Killing in cold blood - you can’t come back from that.’
One Reason to Live
The hold is cold and Ed feels like his entire body has been pummelled for hours with a sack of sharp rocks.
Here Comes the Bride
The Kraken sits like a king before his court, slumped diagonally across a brocade armchair.
lovers in a dangerous time
The US Navy detected it first: alien energy radiating along the jagged rim of the tectonic plate that underlies the Pacific Ocean, appearing on scans like a long-fingered hand prying up the edges of a sealed jar. The energy stretched, expanded, seeped into the gaps like hot magma until it became a wormhole, a portal through space, connecting Earth to a planet millions of light years distant.
The Legend of the Gentleman and the Outlaw, by Lucius Spriggs (La Leyenda del Hidalgo y El Bandido, translated by Jim Jimenez)
Stede Bonnet, a handsome middle-aged gentleman with a full head of wavy blonde hair, arrived by train to Aspen, Colorado in 1893. He came with more money than sense, dressed in a flamboyant outfit more suited to a London nightclub than a rough and tumble mining town in Colorado. Bonnet was the lucky beneficiary of a massive inheritance, but the eccentric gentleman wanted to strike it rich again as a prospector in the silver mines of Colorado.
Hmmm I do like to start with a line of dialogue! Otherwise there's not much of a pattern here. This is a fun ask though.
Also I think everyone I know has already been asked :D

"I said what building is that?" Sasfsets repeated.
"I didn't ask you to repeat it!" Biviri called back, over the sound of running water and the echo of the watercloset. "I said I can't hear you!"
"I asked you what building that was!" Sasfsets shouted.
"No--I--I cannot hear you over the water!"
"I know that's why I'm shouting!"
The gurgle of the pipes and the naked splattering of water cut out, followed by the hazy yellow light of the watercloset. Uneasily, Biviri's shilloute drifted back into the shadows of the apartment, stumbling over furniture and pillows to join Sasfsets at the window, where the neon rainbow blur of the city's lights filtered in dimly on the hot Ocean air.
"What," Biviri said, pushing her cousin over to fit on the window-couch with her, a very expensive leather-lined thing and very very expensive for its modest size, "were you saying."
Sasfsets shifted over to make room. "What building is that."
"Which," Biviri said, crossing her arms on the windowsill like Sasfsets had them, "building."
"The. I." She swept a hand out into the air to gesture. It was one of the auroral ones--the flesh ones were supporting her head, lying lazily across and out into the open space of the city air. "That weird curved one? Where the side is all. Curvy. Are they still building it?"
"That's the Heyela-Xivilix building."
"Is it new?"
"It is new."
Sasfsets just nodded, long snout resting on her crossed arms. "I thought it was new. I didn't recognize it."
"It's new," Biviri repeated.
"Yeah."
"You haven't been home in a long while."
Sasfsets made a little noise in the back of her throat. "Well! I've been busy."
"Busy," Biviri said. She turned, little pink nose pushed right up against Sasfsets', matching snouts leading to mismatched eyes. No matter how hard Sasfsets tried she could never get her eyes to look as serious as Biviri had them. Stern, serious, business eyes. They were business eyes for sure. "We actually do need to speak about how you are keeping busy."
"Oh, you wanna hear the fun bits in person? Break out the Hazzrahd's and I'll tell you about this temple ruin I found--"
"No." Biviri broke eyes first and returned them to the city beyond them. "I love you, kitra. You know that?"
"Sure," Sasfsets said, despite knowing no conversation ever goes well that starts with that sentence.
"Do you? Because you only come back when you need something from us. You use us to fund your little traipsing about the Ocean, and come running home when you need more."
"I! I am helping out the family? From afar? Without. You know."
"No, kitra, I don't."
Sasfsets stood up, away from the window. "Oh you don't. Oh you're pretending you don't? Do you need me to say it? Miz Biviri, Subordinate Chief Payroll Officer and Project Funds Comptroller and Distributor. Hey how's Maezaihree doing lately? You know. Giriji? Youuuur sister?"
"If you're attempting to make a point--"
Stepping away from the window, her arms--all four of them--sweeping out, dramatically--Sasfsets said, "The one you stepped allllll over to get to the top. No hey that's super great though I mean career is what's really important--"
"I out-performed her."
"--do you remember when we were little and we got that new room and the window only could look out on the Void and Maezaihree was terrified of it and you held her like haha wow that was like a dozen cycles until she was okay with being in there. No. No tell me how she's doing. You all wanted to play--first to the top, king of the hill. Big ass. Wanna-be ca'avisi selaynarala like we didn't return them to the Ocean like bad mail. Been over this, I ain't doing it."
"And instead drinking and whoring your way across--"
"Hurting NO one that I grew up with, yes, that's right! Incredible wow I can see why you made it up so far gotta work super hard for our glorious Daplin overlords yeah? You're jealous you can come out with me my boat's got room we can just sneak out some funds and be gone--"
"Just stop."
"--and stopping now. That's cool, that's neat. No Void at my back."
Politely, as one does for family, Sasfsets waited for Biviri to say something. She didn't. That was fine. Sasfsets spun on a paw and started to stroll through the room slowly. A lot of this room had changed, too. Of course, she was never home. She only got to see the sudden updates all at once, to Biviri it all changed so slowly. It was why she was stuck, probably. Caught up in minutes and schedules. New clock, in fact. New bag. New--painting? Voidstrike was that.
"Hey who's in this painting?" Sasfsets asked.
"My partners."
"Uhuh. Vice Something-or-others of Transitional What'sits?"
"Ixiv works for Emblix-Greens. Tiritus is a scribe on the oversight committee."
"Huh. So do they sleeplight for Flagmark or--"
"They date me."
"Oh." Sasfsets tilted her head at the painting. Oh. Well. They were kind of attractive, at least. Somewhat plain looking. That same sort of business-dadal look which just never suited the race. Ocean's grace they weren't spit out into the world to be shuffling papers all lifelong that's what it made the letrax for. "How long that been going on."
"Ixiv for four alda. Tiritus for seven alda."
"Huh. Hah. Huh. Wow. Okay. That's. Hey that's neat. That's. Super cool. Super. Super cool how things just. Keep. Changing."
Biviri turned sharply. Her eyes caught the neon smear of the city just right and glowed at the edges. "You haven't been home. In a long. While."
"No! I get that. I mean I get it I've bumped hips with plenty of people while I'm out making money for the company without you know stabbing my kitrai in the back just thought oh hey maybe you know ah nah should have guessed I mean you got to where you are by fucking over the rest of the kitrai why wouldn't you not even tell me you were fucking--"
Memories came to Sasfsets in an instant, of Boxli on a table, where he wasn't supposed to be, his tail wobbling for balance, and knocking over an incredibly expensive native vase. How FAST Biviri had been, zooming in, sliding across the floor and catching it safely! It always stood out to Sasfsets for a lot of reasons, and it came to her head again just now because before she had even a moment to deal with the fact that it was happening Biviri was now pressing her against the wall, by the throat, with the unyielding ceramics of her artificer's arm.
Which. You know.
Made breathing kind of a challenge but that was cool Sasfsets loved her a good challenge.
"You. Have not been home. In a long. Long. Time," Biviri growled.
"Nope," Sasfsets gasped. "Guess not."
The grip around her throat loosened just enough, just enough to breathe, and largely incidentally, because with Biviri now pressing her lips up against hers it was hard for her to keep a strong grip was all, was the main reason, and it wasn't the first time Sasfsets had to fight back from a compromised position, and her tongue was not inexperienced at the duel.
"You can't expect everyone to just wait in their place while you're gone," Biviri gasped, body pressed up tight, hot, slightly damp, heart pounding, blood coursing, artificer's fingers squeezing.
"You can't--you can't expect--to think about profit first--and think people will stay there for you--when you're done using them!" Sasfsets gasped.
"Return yourself," Biviri growled.
"Send me."
Smooth slick fur of thighs and legs and belly smushing, pressing, grinding together desperately.

i am pleased as punch to report that phantom hourglass is just as good as i remember it – adventurous and FULL of charm! the islands are lively and full of fun secrets, while the sailing is so much more involved than in wind waker. today's stream was a VERY fun time 💖
…but i haven't yet made it to the parts that people weren't so fond of! next week and beyond, we'll see if the temple of the ocean king's repeated revisits start to grate on my patience. see you then!

hello JRWI enjoyers it has been a hot second but I have an AU idea that everyone needs to know about /lh
Zelda AU. Hear me out, I’m a massive fan of this series and I love the idea of incorporating it into JRWI! I’ll go into detail below the cut :)
Chip has the Triforce of Courage
Gill has Wisdom
Jay has Power
Chip’s just like this random Hylian traveler, Gillion is the Zora prince and Jay is the daughter of the Gerudo king, Jayson Ferin (she’s half Gerudo-half Hylian)
Instead of sailing on the ocean, half of Hyrule is a massive desert, so the boats have the ability to “sail” on the sand
The gameplay allows you to switch between Chip, Gill, and Jay to solve puzzles (and you can control them by “commands” like in Warriors games)
Niklaus is basically just a malicious sorcerer helping Jayson but in reality he’s manipulating everyone behind the scenes (as you do)
There are dungeons! It wouldn’t be a Zelda game without them :)
Dungeon #1: the Misty Forest Manor, its on Loffinlot, and is the first place we encounter Niklaus, dungeon item is the Lens of Truth to see through illusions and find your way to Niklaus’ chamber
There is an optional mini-dungeon, the Royale Casino, you get a TON of Rupees and expanded inventory space
Dungeon #2: Desire Temple, it’s the big stone temple on Desire Island with the final boss being a confrontation against Empress Malice, the dungeon item is the Hammer to smash through stone blocks and statues
There is a mandatory mini-dungeon here! The Paramount Coliseum, where you gain elemental arrows and defeat the Baron, completing this triggers the Gerudo Pirates first scripted attack, where you have to find and rescue various pirates being captured to keep the Revolution effort alive
Dungeon #3: The BLOCK Prison, a prison in the center of the Gerudo Desert, you travel through a shifting maze in order to find and rescue Marshall John, the final boss is Jayson Ferin and there are two dungeon items! The BLOCK Pendant, which allows you to control how the rooms move, and the Boomerang (you can put out the fires Jayson lights during his battle), you lose your sword at the end
An adventure in between dungeons 3 and 4 is helping Tastrius, you get a self-updating map
I have more ideas, so if anyone wants to see more, please let me know!! This was really fun to think up :)

I started this like a decade ago and finished it in 2017. Let's see if my takes are still true. I'm gonna do this in 1 post. More fun to do it all at once.
Tumblr media
1. Still Majora's Mask. Still the best.
2. Zelda II. It's got cool concepts and fun gameplay but it's just way too hard to be fun for me.
3. The Magnet Glove(doohicky?) From Oracle of Seasons. Wish they reused it in more Zeldas.
4. Stepladder. Gameplay wise, i get it. But it's the least fantasy-esc item in the series imo.
5. The 4-game collection on GameCube.
6. Ocarina of Time.
7. Yes! Several posters, a Toon Link enamel pin, a Master Sword replica, a little shield/sword display thing, a handmade crocheted Link plush, a wallet, and a Monopoly set.
8. New Wave Basa Nova
9. The Water Temples in Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask.
10. The Temple of the Ocean King. Too many visits.
11. Toon Link
12. Girahim
13. Calamity Ganon. He kinda boring.
14. Dragon Roost Island
15. Farore
16. Wisdom
17. Dark Nuts (specifically the 3D iteration)
18. Lynels: Annoying, unfun, way too hard to fight.
19. The Twilight Princess Arbiter's Grounds boss.
20. Every other boss in Oracle of Seasons. So frustrating.
21. Ghoma from Ocarina of Time.
22. Oracle of Seasons final boss.
23. Majora's Mask
24. Sound Testing in the Milk Bar in Majora's Mask. Super simple but very satisfying.
25. Getting bugs for that one weird guy who's trying to impress his crush on Breath of the Wild. Skeevy af.
26. The Twili. We don't see much of them but their design is super interesting.
27. I'd love to see a Switch port of Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask 3D but without the 3D.
28. Midna. 100%.
29. Wind Waker Boat. He's okay but kinda boring.
30. The anxiety-inducing pressure of having to save the world in 3 days while constantly be watched/grimaced at by the very thing that's coming to destroy said world.
