You had met Larissa when you both had attended a meeting about outcasts all over the world and considering that the both of you were one of the last few shapeshifters left you had instantly connected. Thats how you had ended up leaving your position at a school another school for outcasts in Ireland and moved to Nevermore as the first ever deputy principal.

The beginning of the second semester had started and you had only just settled down into the role of second in command. Your relationship with Larissa only blooming. Today was the day which teachers and students arrived back to school, you were nervous to meet the students and to see how they'd react towards you. From Larissa's tale they were sweet.

The both of you stood on the front steps of Nevermore, Larissa welcoming students and you smiling at the people passing by you. As more students turn up, you look for the last teacher and the one you had been told about a lot, Marilyn Thornhill. The first normal teacher.

"Larissa!" Another new voice called, directing your head to where it had come from, a petite lady with glasses that look almost too big for her was walking towards the two of you. "thats marilyn, be nice." your friend whispers before waving her over.

"Good morning Marilyn, how was your holiday?" Larissa smiled down at the women, who was standing in front of the both of you.

"much more quiet, i think i got used to the noise of the students" you laughed slightly, drawing the attention the elephant in the room.

"This Y/N Y/L/N, they're the new deputy for this school and my closest friend." Larissa introduces placing a hand on your shoulder. You nod, something seemed off about the way this lady looked you up and down.

"Pleasure to meet you Y/N." you hum in agreement, taking a step back when you notice that she has moved towards you.

"Riss, you need to go do your speech." You say, wanting to get away from this lady. Taking Larissa's hand in yours and leading her away, leaving Marilyn fuming. You were exactly what she wanted- no needed and Weems was in the way.

The following weeks had passed quickly, with you becoming closer with the students especially Enid. To the young girl you were a mother figure and Larissa had noticed this, that was why one of your many tasks was to take Enid to her therapy appointments every Thursday morning. After the appointments you would always take Enid to Weathervane, and thats when you met Tyler Galpin. Who knew all about you from Marilyn and was always reporting back to her.

That lead you to the fifth Thursday of the semester where she sat in the booth you and Enid usually occupied, scrolling through photos. You had followed Enid in that day with your hands on her shoulders. Looking over to where you usually sat, you scowl, Marilyn. Something was off about her and Larissa wouldn't take a word of it. Letting Enid lead the way to the counter to order the usual, Marilyn had looked up and smirked waiting for you to pay.

"Enid," Marilyn called, drawing the attention of the girl to her. She bounced over to where one of her teachers sat. "Do join me, Ms Y/L/N too." And so Enid obliged, sliding into the opposing seat. Once you had finished paying, you look around to find Marilyn now talking to Enid. A frown crossed your face but reluctantly walked over. Sitting down next to Marilyn wanting to respect the students boundaries.

"Ms Y/L/N, glad you could join us." she whispers placing a hand onto your thigh. You glare at her, removing the hand. "yes, wonderful." you mutter. Minutes pass and Marilyn keeps 'accidentally' touching you, counting down the minutes till you need to take Enid back but you maintain a straight face completely ignoring the lady next to you. Talking with Enid is always interesting, especially about the up and coming ball being held in honour of a generous donation.

"Enid dear? Could you step outside, i'll be with you in a minute." You say smiling, watching as the girl nods and leaves. Leaving you and Marilyn.

"Marilyn Thornhill, if you touch me one more time then I personally will talk to Larissa."

"You think she'd believe you? She won't do anything especially not to her plant obsessed Ms Thornhill." she grins, placing a hand on yours. "No one will believe you." Staring at her in shock, you get up and walk out. The drive home was a comfortable silence with you absorbed in your thoughts and Enid scrolling through her social media page. Pulling up at school, you let Enid get out before going around the side to park your car.

Walking up to Larissa's office, you see Thornhill walking up the stairs of the school. Running now, you push through her doors panting.

"That normie teacher, needs to go Larissa! She's a freaking creep." You yell, the principal looks up at you in alarm.

"Y/N, whats happened? Take a seat." She gestures towards a chair at her desk. Before you could move, a knock comes to the door and she walks in smiling.

"I'm sorry to interrupt Ms Weems, Miss Y/N is just tired. I'll escort her to her room." She says grabbing your wrist and pulling you out of the room.

"You are mine Y/N. After tonight, there will be no more 'Principal Weems'" She says her voice full of anger, guiding you towards her room.

"What is your issue?!" You yell, "Are you jealous of Larissa?" as she pushes you into her room.

"Oh, my darling girl. I believe I was jealous, but not anymore because I've finally got you for myself." She says laughing, as she inserts something into your neck.

"You're mental if you think you can get away with.." You start to say beginning to feel drowsy. Your eyelids shut just as you fall into a deep sleep, allowing Marilyn to carry to her bed letting your head rest in her lap.

My brain did a thing and i now have Heather and Eva thoughts similar to that Hbombs childhood friends AU i talked about recently

The main difference i feel comes from when they would've met. While i think Heather and Harold met in primary school or even preschool, Heather and Eva would've only met in Middle or High school.

If it's in Middle, we could have a tragic falling out of an outcast friendship; Eva has anger issues and i doubt they would make her get alot of friends (hell i'd speculate that they could've come from bullying and ostracising from her peers), while it's heavily implied Heather was fat in Middle school, which must've not been a pleasant experience (and especially not in the 2000s). I could see them becoming friends out of necessity, but distancing themselves due to their own respective flaws, Eva's anger issues hurting Heather in a big way or Heather's want to climb the school'd Totem Pole getting in the way.

If it's in Highschool, they'd probably hate eachother. Full stop. Before Heather's downfall she'd consider Eva a girl akin to who she was before she became "popular" And thus someone to disregard, while Eva would hate her for her two faced behavior. Even after Heather falls i doubt she'd even like her (even more if they were previously friends) and Heather would have to work through her own issues, her projecting onto Eva her worst fears and insecurities that were now fully realised. Hell i bet Eva would make jabs at Heather the same way Heather would've made towards her.

But it would eventually settle between the two. Mostly due to both of them moving on from their dislike; they both have their support systems, neither's going out of their way to antagonise the other. They wouldn't be nice to eachother if forced to interact, but they're not about to start glaring at the other unprovoked if they happened to be in the same room. Maybe they could eventually tolerate presence, or form a positive connection as adults after this is over. But for now, they'll stick to politely ignoring the other.

I don't know if this is a weird thought or wrong but for some reason, I feel like Theo and Isaac might get to be good friends if they ever got to know each other? I think they're both snarky, and overly violent whereas the rest of the pack try not to be, and maybe even a little feral (affectionate). Either they'd like each other or hate each other but me and my wishful thinking would like to think that they'd like each other

I’ve only written one story where Theo and Isaac even speak, but even in that—I definitely agree there’s an element of them being kindred spirits there. I think it is that, like you said, they’re kind of outcasts that were welcomed in, but being welcomed in doesn’t erase who you are or how you got to be that way, and I think they’d be able to understand each other better than most.

There’s some interesting potential there, for sure.

i'll start off by saying a lot of my mutuals are of this opinion and i respect it <33 that being said - bro. i know they could be a bit much especially when the actors aren't that good or the song is a bit bland or if it just feels very out of place? i understand it's sort of become the norm to hate on these performances because '''bl boy whips out guitar'' is a fandom joke at this point. and people are so loud and proud about skipping every single scene with a song in it. but it results in takes like "omg why did win and team sing their confessions they sounded so bad, so off-key, i barely made it".. that's the point? they are overwhelmed with emotions, snot is running down their face, after months of inner turmoil they finally reach the point where they just have to let it all out and yeah, the song would sound much weirder if they played a studio version on top of the footage lmao (example: the autotune on top of akkayan's bday performance that was so horrendous it turned out funny)

When they're together, this filter is off, and don't get me wrong -they still have a filter- but this one is hardwired into them because of survival and they both know it and try to get around it.

Is it for fun? Is it to have control on the other? Or is it a twisted form of healing the two of them adopt? I literally have no clue but it's spicy. I'd like to suggest that seeing the people involved, this is probably the healthiest relationship they're going to get, and yeah, this makes it sweet because they just... Get each other? And they genuinely seem to care? It's so weird, because at the same time they'd be at each other's throat but in a romantic way that says "you're the love of my life".

Sex doesn't even need to get involved, but sure it's fucked up and messy when it's there. If these two could they would fuse in the same individual Steven-Universe style. Sara & Ranmaru: Ranmaru is supposed to be the equivalent of Joe. They're both high school boys, but Ranmaru is more shy and vulnerable than Joe. This would Sara more prone to protecting him.

Keiji & Hinako: Hinako is probably the equivalent of Sara. A serious young girl who rarely tolerates nonsense. I do have to agree with beanie-man that this was probably also chosen to keep an eye on Keiji. Also Keiji is most likely one of the hardest participants to kill (he's strong and smart) so they chose an insider with Asu-naro since that would give her an advantage to killing him.

Gin & Hayasaka: This one was already stated in game, but Hayasaka is definitely the equivalent of Mishima. Gin looked up to Mishima as a temporary father figure, so he'd be devastated to be betrayed by his dad again (cuz his real father isn't the best).

Kanna & Kurumada: this one is a bit of a stretch but I think Kurumada parallels Shin. They both have a tendency to not get along with people, and reject help from others a lot. Also they both have blue hair :')

Shin & Kurumada: In this case, Kurumada would be the equivalent of Alice. It's been shown throughout the game that Alice and Shin get along due to having a lot in common. They're both older brothers that lost contact to their younger sisters (in Shin's case, he never had it). They feel like outcasts among the participants. Having Shin be killed by the equivalent of his only friend (aside from Kanna) would suck

Reko & Anzu: Anzu is definitely the equivalent of Nao. They both have bubbly personalities, a desire to help others, and a tendency to o get scared.

Alice & Anzu: Might be kinda obvious, but Anzu is the equivalent of Reko. A young woman passionate about her art. Anzu could also partially parallel Nao here too, since Alice and Nao became friends after Reko's death.

of course these parallels aren't perfect, but I honestly thought that Asunaro chose it to be this way in hope of rubbing salt in the wounds of the participants who get killed by their partners.

what can i even say about their friendship ... there's so much that jou learns from yuugi from the very second that he starts seeing him as anything more than the shrimpy nerd in his class and i just adore how close they become so quickly ! honestly their friendship is so important to jou and how he manages to grow beyond the perpetual outcast delinquent persona he had to create for himself to survive. but there's also a lot katsuya can teach yuugi, especially in relation to confidence in himself. in that sort of give and take, they're both great influences for each other, but jou can sort of be the devil on yuugi's shoulder at times.

i honestly see these two and their bond as being closer to found family / brothers but i do have a soft spot for this romantic ship as well ... i just think that katsuya has a lot of growing to do before he's ready for a relationship, especially with someone like yuugi, who's a little less sure of himself and isn't quite able to match his intensity at times ? they'd definitely have to go through the growing pains of defining their relationship after becoming friends, but i think that awkward pining phase and eventual puppy love is very sweet in its own way ! i don't think it'd ever become toxic but if it did, it'd be because of jou's difficulty with intimacy. he has a lot of trauma to work through and process that he doesn't deal with in productive ways.

as much as it hurts my heart to say this, i can definitely see an au in which ushio never confronts jou or honda about picking on yuugi, meaning their relationship never has the chance to develop beyond what it initially was. there's a lot of jealousy involved in why jonouchi decided to bully yuugi specifically, as well as a fundamental misunderstanding of yuugi's character. and without a catalyst for jou to see him as anything beyond an easy target, i think it'd be very easy for the antagonism in their interactions to persist.

2. Who is the most insecure and what makes them feel better?

They both must be, in their own ways. Filch as a Squib working for a school he never attended, surrounded by magical-folks all day everyday. Then Severus, who is intelligent and magically gifted, but never appreciated for any of it. They're both lonely and bitter. Both have gathered their anger around them like armor. But Severus more so, I think. He's younger. More sensitive, I think. He has too much hope and ambition that is smashed to bits time and again.

Severus has never been able to escape his circumstances. A wizard raised by a magic-hating father. Poor, unpopular, ugly. Hogwarts was meant to be his escape, but it wasn't. He's bullied from the start by the Marauders; and his tormentors are beloved and admired by their peers and the staff. He's also Sorted into Slytherin, surrounded by wealthy, influential purebloods. He's separated from his best (and only) friend by their Houses, and they drift apart by time and circumstance.

Of course he's insecure. He's been told time and again how he's not good enough. Had had it proven time and again. No matter what he has to offer, he isn't handsome or charming enough for it to matter. The disdain of his father and the Marauders isn't enough, but set against Lily's expectations, as well, and the expectations of the Death Eaters who court him. All he wants it to belong. And he never does, not really.

It's Filch's attention, I think, makes him feel better. They'd make a connection, I think. As outcasts. As lonely, bitter men. Filch doesn't care for the troublemaking Marauders. He has no patience for the pretty or the charming. He admires hard work, and skill, both of which Severus has in spades. He can both envy, and appreciate, what Severus is capable of with magic. I think he would respect, and be impressed, by how studious Severus is. How knowledgeable he is, even if Filch doesn't understand any of it himself. With more time spent watching, I think Filch would grow all the fonder of Severus.

And Severus would eat that right up.

Hiding away in secret places, just for a moment of peace. Maybe Filch would find him. He can do homework while Filch cleans. Maybe they'll complain about rowdy, immature people. And, over time, it turns physical. Severus wants to be wanted, and Filch wants him. It feels good to him, to be connected to someone. To have someone who sees him at all, who cares at all. And the further they go, the more confident Severus feels. It doesn't chase away the bad feelings, but it's knowledge to cling to when he needs it. That he has somewhere to turn. Someone who sees him as something special.

30. Why does it work (or not work) between them?

I think I answered part of this in the last question, but it boils down to: it's not a forever match. But they can give each other comfort, for a time.

Filch sees someone in the castle who is worthy of his time and attention. A person he can relate to. Unwanted, disrespected. Chewed up and spat out by life. He knows that feeling, and he wants to make it better. He is the caretaker, after all. It's his duty to fix things. To look after things. And Severus is special, even if Filch is the only one who notices for a while. He sees the beauty and charm in Severus that no one else does.

He needs to feel needed, I think. And Severus needs him, at least for a while.

It goes on until Severus graduates, and picks up for a while when he comes to teach. But it doesn't last long. Doesn't really work. Filch's arms are no longer a solace. He's too changed by all that he's been through. But it's good, from time to time. Casual and comfortable, when physical needs are too much to deny. And Filch never turns him away. Filch never chases him, but he never denies him, either. He looks out for Severus. Grumbles about the students that don't give him the respect that he, Filch, thinks Severus deserves.

Severus remembers their time fondly. Appreciates what Filch provided him. But it was never love.

As for Filch, I like to think he holds a place for Severus in his heart. Is it love? Who's to say? But Severus matters more to Filch than Filch matters to him, I think. And when one day Severus finds true love, perhaps Filch is a bit jealous. A bit sad. A bit wistful for days past. But mostly he'll be glad, I think. Because Severus deserves to have someone love him and appreciate him and make him happy. He can't begrudge Severus that.

also though preface that most of this is like... the actual intellectual answer is that it is an itc show and itc shows are just, Like That. almost famously underproduced. moving on...

i was thinking about how marty jeannie and jeff basically have no close friends or family connections outside of each other. theres a few exceptions like jeff's old friend o'malley - but i dont think they are particularly good or close friends, and i don't think jeff really respects o'malleys penchant for actively looking for shady shit (actually i get the impression that jeff regards himself as having Settled Down now which, is interesting). jeannie seems close to her sister and seems to respect her opinions and ideas, so thats interesting. marty has his aunt but she isn't a consistent presence. overall, they spend the majority of their time solely with each other, thinking and talking about each other.

it leads me into generating some narrative reason WHY these three depend solely on each other. it makes me think maybe they chose a lifestyle their previous friends (if any) disapproved of, or that they even actively hide from friends and family, which as a secret in itself drives a wedge in those relationships. hiding something fundamental like that generally means people talk less to their family or previous friends. particularly if they already feel like they'll be rejected for living that way. or yeah, maybe they've already been outcasted a little.

well, jeannie and marty live a respectable life - a man and a woman, married, living together. in a flat. seemingly on the edge of financial security, although marty has a smart head on his shoulders and works hard to protect their future. it's just odd to me that again there's no sign of family support from either jeannie or martys side, you'd surely expect they'd at least be supported by a parent in some way? even if that can only be emotional support.

and well... there's jeff. and he's ALWAYS there. he is a fairly integral component of marty and jeannie's marriage, and i think that's the, 'reason' that they feel/are rather dependent on each other. bc i mean, it's normal for a guy to have a best friend sure, but they basically live in each other's pockets and not without jeannie - my favourite extremely brief mention is in an episode when marty says something to the effect of "it's where we went for that picnic - me, you and jeannie" which is cute, obviously. but it's like... THAT picnic, you know jeff, the specific one. and it's not like their particular closeness is unnoticed, even the operator in jeff's building regards them as, ok well not intimate but close enough that even HE is aware that they are close. marty even worries so much about jeannie that jeff is the one to promise to support her (ok yes its a bit more... 60s than that, but im trying to give the characters SOME credit), marty doesn't even consider her family or even his own would support her. it... has to be jeff because jeff is the one who understands.

so i'm circling back around to wondering why they're just revolving around each other and well, basically, im thinking that if the operator in jeff's building makes a point of stating just how close he and marty are, and the three have had A Picnic, together, that they should remember specifically, almost like a date, and im thinking well... it feels like they've been rejected by a lot of their friends and family. and i think marty having to choose between jeff and jeannie is a recurring theme in martys life. not just as a ghost, i think he had to choose even before then, and decided to choose them both by going into business with jeff and marrying jeannie. they're both legally recognized partnerships, it's perfect really. not to mention the added financial security generated from the business (well, that's the plan anyway), and both partnerships benefit both involved.

If it's not at least sort of hereditary, then how was she able to become the leader so young?? I mean, it's clearly not entirely so, but if it's not at least a little or is just more likely to be passed down because children of leaders get specialized training for it, then surely someone older would have been chosen instead? But in any case, it would explain Irida having no playmates as a kid, if she had a parent run away to be with a Diamond Clan member to make Volo her half-brother. It'd be such a scandal, and if she was young enough she might not have had strong enough friend bonds to weather that fallout. Assuming there were even many kids around her age anyway, most of the other adult Clan members only look about mid-twenties maybe, but that'd still make her quite a few years younger than them. Wait, to have Volo be as old as he is, they'd at the very least have to be born right around the same time, so even bigger scandal: her dad is the one who ran off while her mom was pregnant, because he found out his Diamond Clan mistress was also pregnant. (New au idea where she and Volo are actually twins that were separated when one of her parents ran off and took him with them, but neither of them know it. She and Ingo have a "leaders/bosses who were separated from their twin but don't even know they have a twin, much less who that twin is" bond.)

I mean, who wouldn't want to live on an active volcano?? Or maybe she just lives with Iscan. That's how they got together, she took one look at that volcano and was like, hell no. Not that I think she'd want to live there anyway after her noble died. Oh that's true, it might still be a little contentious but I think that's an argument that'd work well on dissenters, especially the point that they're not damaging the original room, they're just adding onto it.

Do they know how to unfrenzy alphas at that point though? The only way to really do that I think is to catch them, and they don't use pokeballs even if Ingo somehow figured that out (since I don't think he goes around actually catching many, just his team). They didn't know how to calm the frenzied nobles at first, so they might not know how to help the gallade even if they wanted to, and that's assuming that it even works on alphas the same as it does the nobles. Maybe the reason it's in Snowpoint is so that it doesn't go around hurting more things. This way at least it's mostly isolated. 

How would that work for like Avalaugg, Electrode, and Basculegion? Or maybe it's not a requirement to go through with their noble, but it's an option if both parties agree? Especially if they don't already have a partner to help. 

Now that they know where they stand with him, all they ask is that he turn the crazy eyes down to at least a 7 when he's talking to them. And also, yes, they'd prefer if he would stop dying, it'd be pretty inconvenient to have to find another warden, and it's probably bad luck to let someone Almighty Sinnoh sent them die. They don't need divine wrath rained down upon them just because he has a delicate constitution.

"how did irida become leader so young" is something id like to know too tbqh. were she and palina like. literally the only available candidates? if that's so, and if the theory's true that lord arcanine died during the trials and that "failure" is what removed palina from consideration—but i feel like surely wardens aren't allowed to become clan leader?? like once you're warden that's it for life, surely, unless you do something so heinous that every other warden in the region agrees you've violated your duty and need to be outcast.

maybe, like the wardens are partly chosen by their nobles, the leader candidates are partly chosen by almighty sinnoh. there's some sort of test of approval that potential candidates have to undergo, maybe involving the lustrous, and then the leader is selected from among those. and if all the other candidates were eliminated, maybe irida just. won by default, despite being so young. (and that would add another layer to adaman's whole Thing, if leaders are typically chosen by sinnoh—and either it marked him but still refuses to acknowledge him, or it has marked nobody and he was chosen as leader by the clan despite sinnoh's silence but there's still something illegitimate about his status. mm love the vibes of that second one actually.)

yeah, i feel like, if it is true that there was a war or some other disaster that all but wiped out that middle generation of the clans, irida belongs to sort of an awkward time where there weren't many/any other kids bc the older adults were gone and most of the survivors hadn't grown up enough to have kids of their own. i feel like another possibility is that volo is older than irida by a few years but actually spent the first few years of his life living with the diamond clan, until his parents finally couldn't take the fighting anymore and both ran away, his father leaving behind an unborn half-sister he may or may not have ever known existed. (or, the same thing, but he's lived in the guild his entire life—his mother left diamond for the guild when he was born, but it took a few years for her to convince his father to do the same, and irida was conceived in the meantime.) the idea of them being twins is really fascinating actually. that also means that irida just has perpetual babyface and/or volo looks older than he is ghskshj

i think defeating alphas in battle is also a valid way to unfrenzy them? especially since that's what mai asks you to do with the first one you face (you CAN catch it but it's not required). and yeah agreed that ingo probably only catches his main team permanently, he might use pokeballs as a method to transport other ones but he releases them right afterwards. (i have been thinking that he's probably befriended a ton of pokemon via his warden duties, and could theoretically call on them for battle, but they just. don't want to be Caught, and his main six are just the ones he's closest to. yanno) but oh that's an interesting thought that they've isolated the gallade in snowpoint for safety, but still wouldn't they be worried about it damaging the temple?

mm yeah you're right it probably is more of an optional thing than a required one. the nobles could probably also use their status with the wild pokemon in their region to find a partner, if temporary, for their warden, too. if they haven't befriended one yet.
