Since Miracle Mask kept emphasizing that Randall died and the Professor blamed himself but shouldn’t, but didn’t bother telling me what exactly happened until like twenty hours in, my brain just replaced it with this.

Watched a Youtube video about 10 Times Glee Handled Serious Situations Poorly and I swear, I will go to my grave screaming at people that the show that was supposed to be about bullied people NEVER handled the bullying storylines right.
They got pretty close with Kurt and Karofsky but even that was undermined, not just by making Karofsky a victim of intenalized homophobia, but by all the other bully moments that were treated as jokes or quirky side scenes to get us to the "real" focus.

Steve comes home from work early one day to see that not only is his kindergartener, Hazel, home from school (which is normal), his third grader, Robbie, is also home (which, seeing as there are still several hours until when her school bus would usually be dropping her off, is not normal).
Steve: Oh, Jesus.
Steve: What’d you do?
Robbie: *no response*
Eddie, prodding his daughter: Explain.
Eddie: Own your shit, girlie.
Robbie: *continues to silently fume on the couch*
Eddie: Fine.
Eddie: When I picked up Hazel, the principal made me take her home too after what was described to me as a relentless verbal onslaught against – wait for it –
Eddie: A first grader.
Steve, baffled: Robbie – what the fuck?
Robbie: *positively massive eye roll*
Robbie: She was being mean to Hazel.
Robbie: All I did was tell her that if she messes with Hazel, then I’m messing with her.
Steve: *long, tired sigh*
Steve: I just…
Steve: Robbie – you pushed Hazel down the stairs yesterday.
Steve: On purpose.
Steve: For my sake, just pick a side.

I think the most amazing thing about Alhaitham's ironic question "How has realizing your ideals gone for you?" is that yes, on the surface, it pierced through the heart of Kaveh's feelings at the time and forced him to reflect on whether he still had enough belief to keep going, but--BUT--
This is also Alhaitham subtly asking: "Was your life better without me?"
Kaveh left their friendship because of his ideals.
Kaveh's attempts to realize his beliefs began in earnest during his argument with Alhaitham, who challenged him back then by suggesting that Kaveh didn't honestly believe in his ideals and was just pursuing them out of guilt and a desire to punish himself for his father's death.
Kaveh's attempt to "realize his ideals," therefore, spans the exact amount of time he and Alhaitham have been separated. When Alhaitham asks about Kaveh's attempts, he's asking very specifically about the course Kaveh's life took when he was no longer in it.
How did it go for you? Were you happier? Was it worth it?
I truly believe that Kaveh will be able resolve his conflict with Alhaitham--and come to understand Alhaitham's actual feelings--when he realizes that, in that exact moment, he should have turned the question around:
How did realizing your ideals go for you, Alhaitham?
Was your life better off without me?
No.

forever thinking about johanna shooting fogg and what it says for both her and anthony as characters
because the whole show, from the very first scene, we've been set up to see anthony and sweeney as parallels of one another; anthony is sweeney back when he was benjamin, he's full of hope, he's in love (with a woman who looks almost identical to lucy), and then he gets that love brutally ripped away by judge turpin
in 'no place like london' sweeney says: "you are young, life has been kind to you-- you will learn" and by the point in the show where anthony is going to rescue johanna we're almost inclined to agree with him
except anthony cannot shoot the gun, he's not like sweeney in that he cannot kill another person even if it was to save someone he loved. anthony is never going to become sweeney todd.
and then we realize that we've been looking at the wrong person the whole show, and it's so obvious it's laughable: johanna shoots the gun.
johanna who has been raised to be silent and obedient and perfect, johanna who, without knowing the half of it, has had everything taken away from her by judge turpin, her mother, her father, and her freedom. johanna who we've been led to believe is the lucy to anthony's sweeney.
she is fully justified in shooting fogg, no one could fault her for it, but she doesn't even hesitate.
in that moment she is her father's daughter.
that isn't to say that I think johanna is going to go on a killing spree after the musical, obviously, but it's such a fascinating scene in terms of their development: because despite it all anthony is still the same, and because of it all johanna is not
anthony is the last bit of hope left in the story, and johanna is the last bit of sweeney

This is exactly why I say that most Sansa critiques are either misogynistic, ignorant or just plain bias.

Y’know. Anakin was a real asshole in Ahsoka’s hallucination.
Like. She mentions something about what she’ll be able to teach her padawan one day, since all she’s being taught is how to be a soldier, and Anakin’s like “teaching’s not all it’s cracked up to be”
And like. Asshole move. And Ahsoka rightfully calls him out on it. And he goes on the whole “uuuh I was joking. Lighten up.” Literally a complete jackass.
But beyond how he answered the question, it’s a valid complaint Ahsoka is bringing up! Anakin’s teaching her how to live or die. But Ahsoka wants to be taught how to be a jedi.
What happens after the war is over (order 66 never happens) and she now has to navigate a galaxy without a war? The Jedi take teaching very seriously there’s no greater honor than teaching a padawan. And she’s not being accurately taught, so she will not be able to pass anything on to the next generation.
But Anakin brushes it aside because he simply does not respect her or her wishes. Like. He never wanted a padawan, despite teaching being foundational to the Jedi. And he only took ahsoka in because he started to like her and became attached to her. He doesn’t care about jedi legacy, not really. So he brushes her comment off with a joke.
But in the rest of the vision… idk it didn’t feel like we were supposed view Anakin as entirely wrong here. He wasn’t in the right, he was definitely channeling Vader and being an ass, but he was basically the reason Ahsoka survived the fall, right? Bc he was making her choose life? When Ahsoka wins against him it’s sort of like she’s both learned his lesson and moved beyond him. And then for the rest of the season he’s only talked about in positive ways.
And like. That one line ahsoka said was really powerful in relation to the entire point of the show. What does she have to pass onto her own padawan (Sabine) if she wasn’t properly trained herself? That is, perhaps, the only valid plot question asked in the entire show. And it doesn’t get an answer. It’s never even brought up again.

Nugget Budget (dp x dc)
"This is the worst day of my life," Danny said as he stood in front of the frozen section. He was feeling pretty close to tears. Dino nuggets were his one comfort food and he'd had a shitty week. He deserved his Dino nuggets.
"What kind of grocery store doesn't have Dino nuggets," Danny despaired to himself as he held his hand up to the cold glass despairingly. Just as he was wallowing in the horror of his situation, he caught someone moving down the aisle in the corner of his eye. He looked up and immediately, his eyes narrowed as he noticed what the guy had in his caddie.
"What the hell, man," Danny let out indignantly.
"I'm sorry?" The ginger guy stopped and turned towards Danny.
"Why would you take all the nuggets?" Danny pointed at his caddie filled with at least a dozen frozen nugget boxes.
"Uh," the guy lifted an eyebrow at him. "To eat them?"
"You can't take them all!" Danny protested. "I need my nuggets."
"There's lots left," the guy said as he gestured towards the refrigerated boxes of other brand of nuggets.
"Not Dino ones," Danny begged to differ.
The redhead shrugged. "Don't know what to tell you. Better luck next time?" Then, his phone let out a ping and he held it up to look at the screen. He let out a soft curse and started wheeling away, taking all the Dino nuggets with him.
"Wait!" Danny tried but the guy didn't even turn around.
"Sorry, gotta run!" he said over his shoulder as he disappeared behind the aisle, leaving Danny alone in the frozen section, bereft of his Dino nuggets.
As he looked on towards where the guy had disappeared, Danny's despair solidified into a cold resolve. Whether the guy had been aware of it or not, this was an act of war.
The nugget thief would not be allowed to go on unpunished. Danny swore it on his stolen frozen chicken.

I’m not trying to be overly precious about my fave, but, like, it is canon that Jonathan is useful in a fight. Even in otherwise good fics, I’ll see him characterized as “not a fighter,” especially in contrast to Nancy and Steve, and I’ll be like, “He literally stabbed a guy to death with a pair of scissors. He beat Steve’s ass. He can set shit on fire and perform impromptu surgery with the best of them. What are you talking about.”
