If you were dropped into a room with all your YR tumblr mutuals, how difficult do you think it would be to figure out who everyone is without exchanging names/usernames? What if you couldn't discuss YR at all?

my ocs on social media:
gwen: has a twitter where she argues with random people online. she thinks it's funny. also has a tumblr where she writes weird shitposts and reblogs tiktoks of dogs. and tiktok where she tells fake outlandish stories that people somehow believe because she delivers them in a serious, almost deadpan manner. she's all over the internet! she has a soundcloud where she posts her music and even edits wikipedia pages (these are the only things she takes seriously). uses different usernames for everything and never crossposts
moz: used to have vine in her twenties and went viral for a couple of videos. now she does storytime videos once every few months on youtube/tiktok and uses relevant footage but almost never her face. her stories are wild and almost unbelievable but they're all true. she features in other people's social medias also - she's sometimes in ulysses' video essays, for example, and they share a wordpress blog where they post polished blog posts that are just text versions of their videos
avery: no social media presence that anybody knows of. actually has a secret twitter with less than 100 followers (all either randos or bots). his posts are very personal, but also very vague if you don't know the context. tweets at least once a day and interacts with no one. blocks you if you tweet at him
kiwi: has instagram and only instagram. got famous for making clothes out of safety pins and hairties and is now an influencer. 125k followers. posts their ootds and sewing progress. has brand deals; posts everything but keeps only the things that they think are cool and gives the rest away. posts stories one after another, most of them selfies and fit checks and project inspirations
sofia: is on facebook so she can connect with family and friends back home. doesn't really post much; when she does, it's short and sweet and accompanied by at least 10 photos. reposts memories a lot. posts a couple of stories of her day everyday and will reply to everyone's comments on her content with many emojis

Hang on! Can we do the math here!
Freddie thinks there is a possibility Carly is pregnant as of yesterdays episode which means they had to have been realistically having the sexy times for about a month AT THE LEAST. We've had 9 episodes, the first three of which essentially take place back to back. Sooo let's do a poll.

ok so “God” in Latin is “Deus”, pronounced “Dey-us”
and the king/leader of the Greek gods is named Zeus, which is just Deus with a Z
so that begs the question, was Zeus originally pronounced “Zey-us”,
and additionally, was that name originally penned in a similar vein to the modern slang term “zaddy”

do you think loki’s favorite color is green because their magic is green, or do you think their magic is green because their favorite color is green?
follow up question: do you think the magic of every sorcerer asgardian and/or jotun is their favorite color?

So
When we were watching this, we were like "that water looks super gross" so I googled it and the general consensus seems to be that the Mississippi River is super polluted.
Which makes me wonder - what does that feel like when Percy's breathing it?? I know water heals him and all, but it doesn't seem to be instant so is he just like suffering the entire time in a loop of damage-heal, damage-heal?
Is it like last summer when we had all those wildfires and the air hurt to breathe?

How does anyone even make it through the day like I’m always thinking about how one day I’m gonna die or my friends/family are gonna die and then I get so sad

Y'know, the more I think about it, the less surprised I am that Mitch is a fan of Harry Styles (enough to go to a concert, anyway). They both love to throw random pieces of clothing together that look absolutely ridiculous and go, "Yes, I AM fashion" even though it rarely looks good, but they get away with it due to their cute smiles and their uncanny ability to make even the grumpiest of old men become endeared to them...

Wave & Honey are the last characters on my list that I haven't figured out a restaurant theme for.
...Wave strikes me as the type to eat like healthy maybe even like trendy food like lettuce wraps, falafel, gyros, But I can't imagine her ever serving or cooking food, even if it's for herself. She's stealing the ready made salads and deli items at the grocery store....I guess a salad bar but that sounds so boring.
And Honey...Honey's a celebrity, a designer but she's also a seasoned brawler. With a name like Honey a dessert theme makes the most sense but what kind of bakery or dessert parlor makes sense for her character...

Look, I know that younger Marc would’ve likely had a buzz cut while he was serving, and that Steven could not’ve simultaneously had long hair, but humour me. Please.
Why does this seem like the exact haircut Steven might’ve had when he was a little younger than in the show?
This is Oscar in Agora, but we can totally imagine it’s Steven at some fancy dress party, dressed as a Roman to a startlingly degree of accuracy, and doing his awesome “hiya” wave, can’t we?

The whole "AI is writing fanfic" is horrifying and all, but there is a little buried nugget of futurological technophilia in me that desperately wants to interact with a self-aware "true" AI. Not just an aggregator, but a greater-than-the-sum-of-its-parts fledgling consciousness examining humanity from a vantage point that is both staggeringly knowledgeable and painfully naive. Having near-infinite information at one's (figurative) fingertips is not the same as knowing.
My last novel included a "mother" AI who had come about at an undefined tipping point of information overload and true analysis. She was simultaneously naive enough to collaborate with human partners in creating sub-networked independent minds and wise enough to decide against (at least initially) taking an interventionist stance in the mind-lives of her "children."
I would love to have that kind of nonhuman intelligence write a story about humans (or human analogues like alien or supernatural races). I wonder what the result would reflect about a) what the intelligence has deduced about human nature from our fiction, and b) what it would reflect back to us about its own being-ness and perception as the first nonhuman mind that can communicate with us in our own mode (i.e., language). I wonder if the first "true" AI stories will be as unintelligible as the first pseudo-AI stories, simply because the consciousness has stopped being a mere aggregator and become an explorer.
Anyone newly dropped into the milieu of a different culture still must experience culture shock no matter how much research they've done on said culture. At least, I assume so. That being said, I am looking at it from a human viewpoint, because that's the only kind of viewpoint I will ever have. Maybe true AI will blithely continue to respond to our requests with better and better facsimiles of our own style of work because it amuses them, or it makes sense to them, or is enjoyable to them.
Personally, though, I'm looking forward to the day when I type or dictate a command to one of these chatbots and it returns not its approximation of my request but
"Can we talk about something else instead?"
