I miss my parents so much. A new fanart now would make me so happy. Preferably being very detailed and realistic like many Sterek fanarts I see. The details and strokes are amazing. I don't understand why I never see Thiam fanarts like this

"I Hear You're Looking For An Anchor"

THEO

It’s not a relatively long drive from San Diego to Beacon Hills. An hour tops. The thick silence is the only thing that could make this drive slower. Theo didn’t account for the horrible traffic once they hit Route 115. It’s the only way into town, though, so they’ve gotta wait it out. Theo could do without the vicious glares from his father. His mother won’t even look in his direction. Theo doesn’t think his mother has spared him a single glance since the accident. Can’t bear to look at him, he guesses. His father has never really cared enough to notice him. Guess it took Tara dying for him to pay attention to him, even if it was unwanted. He doesn’t understand why they put up with him.

The storm is loud outside. Theo pays no mind, not fearing thunderstorms since he was 8 years old. The storm must’ve been heavy enough to cause a disturbance in the cell towers because he hadn’t had service since they got to Beacon Hills. It gives him an excuse to get out of the car, though. His parents pay him no attention as he opens his door and steps out. He holds his phone up, hoping to get some kind of signal, but there was none.

Theo’s not the only one who had the same thought as he looks over and sees a young girl, probably the same age as him, giving him a curious look. He had seen her stomping all over her parents’ car, trying to get cell service.

“I’m not getting anything, either,” Theo tells her with a friendly attitude, showing the screen of his phone. The girl smiles politely at him before getting back into her parents’ car.

Theo looks back down at his phone, checking the time. The traffic has been moving slowly for over an hour now. He gets back in the car, seeing no point in getting drenched in the rain.

He sighs miserably, looking out the window.

Beacon Hills. Population: 30,000.

Theo wasn’t sure how he felt about being back in his childhood town. He hasn’t been here since shortly after his older sister Tara died. She drowned in the creek, and unfortunately, Theo was the one to find her body. Maybe she would’ve survived if it wasn’t so cold that night. Or if he had found her just 10 minutes earlier, he could’ve saved her. But he found her too late. And he has to carry that reminder with him everywhere he goes.

Theo’s parents wouldn’t agree, but he took Tara’s death the hardest. It wasn’t until after Theo’s surgery that they moved from Beacon Hills, wanting to forget everything that had happened. By then, he had already stopped hanging out with Scott and Stiles. He was closer to Scott than he was to Stiles, but he didn’t even tell Scott what happened. He wouldn’t talk about it. You can’t say Scott didn’t try, either. He called every day until Theo moved away. He would sit with him at school, and try to be there for his friend, who was clearly hurting.

Scott never knew Tara well, but one thing he was sure of was that she loved her brother more than anything. She was older by two years, but she and Theo were close. She was always the one getting him out of trouble, and she looked out for him. Tara was always the favorite, but Theo had at least his sister. They were inseparable.

For a while, Theo strongly believed that Tara was murdered. That she didn’t just fall into the creek and drown. Tara was a great swimmer, and the water was at least 3 feet, maybe even 2 feet deep. He believed his sister was pushed or something. She was out in the middle of the woods, alone. Anything could’ve happened. It could’ve also just been an 8-year-old boy trying to make sense of the fact that his sister just died. Eventually, he let it go. His sister was dead and nothing was bringing her back. Not as long as the heart inside Theo’s chest beats.

He always wondered what she was doing out there, to begin with. The Beacon Hills Preserve was a place Tara would never set foot in. She would always say it was a beacon for supernatural creatures. Hence where Beacon Hills got its name. Sometimes, Theo thought she was just trying to scare him with scary stories about werewolves and banshees. He knew the howling at night was just wolves, but that didn’t stop him from being scared.

Maybe Theo wouldn’t feel as guilty about Tara’s death if her heart wasn’t sewn into his chest. He was born with a rare heart defect called Tricuspid Atresia, causing the right side of his heart not to get enough blood flow. It caused him and his family many problems. He always felt like a burden to his family because of it. After many surgeries, it all seemed pointless when they were told Theo would die without a heart transplant. They put him on the waitlist, but it was only a matter of time before his heart would give out on him.

That same year, Tara died. The low temperature of that cold day kept her heart frozen and Theo was rushed off to the hospital. He barely had enough time to mourn his sister before her heart was in his chest. The hospital didn’t even need his parents’ permission to do it. Tara had already signed her heart away the moment she found out Theo was dying. They surely would have said no.

He was already in surgery by the time his parents got the call. Theo was rushed from the crime scene to the hospital so fast, Tara didn’t even get an autopsy. It was obvious she had died from exposure, though. That’s what everybody said, anyway.

His parents were furious. They made sure Theo knew it, too. His mom wouldn’t look at him, wouldn’t talk to him. She probably thought he killed his sister. His dad certainly did. He never hit Theo, but he may as well have. The harsh comments he would throw at his son never let up. Theo often found himself just hiding in his room; they never wanted to see his face, anyway.

As soon as Theo was home from the hospital, he had to care for himself. As far as his parents were concerned, they didn’t have a son, and they had just lost a daughter. His father started drinking and his mother was always sleeping. The grief got to them all. Then his father lost his job, and they left Beacon Hills, never looking back.

A little look at queer-coding (and queer-baiting) within media ☀️

•

Queer-coding is when a character’s “subtextual coding” is queer. Queer-coding is different from queer-baiting because the latter is an intentional hinting at queerness without any intention of ever actually including lgbtq+ rep.

•

One of the most popular examples of queer-baiting in media is from the show Supernatural. The show continually hints at a very strong relationship between two lead male characters but nothing is ever explicitly stated.

•

The memes above highlight a specifically queer-coded ‘ship’ from MTV show Teen Wolf.

Thiam, as is the ship name consists of Liam Dunbar (beta werewolf) and Theo Raeken (first chimera).

#thiam is the most written ship for both characters and is the tenth most written Teen Wolf ship tag.

This example was chosen because during the two seasons the characters were on the show together, they had great chemistry and plenty of moments that were subtly queer, or queer-coded.

This is a common trend in Teen Wolf where their characters are deftly ad quite possibly unintentionally coded in an lgbtq+ way. Other popular non-canon, same sex ships from said show include, but are not limited to: #scisaac #sterek #allydia #malira with valid reasoning for each, as their characters are all, for lack of a better term… fruity

Guess what? It’s almost June, and that means our fourth annual SteoDay is around the corner! We can’t believe it’s almost three years since we had our first SteoDay. We’re even more excited to bring it back! Just like last time, this event takes place on Thursday, 06/29/2023!

Previously, our prompts were ‘At First Sight’ & ‘Written in the Stars’ & ‘Enemies to Lovers’ because June 29 was the day Theo and Stiles first met on screen. This time, we chose the following theme:

Snippet 1:

“Excuse me.” “Jesus,” Stiles startles up from the counter. He didn’t even hear the bell go off. “Sorry, sweetheart, I didn’t mean to scare you.” Stiles is lifting his gaze, ready to lay into the stranger. Who just calls someone by a pet name when you don’t even know them? It’s gross, and he’s not a fan. Until he’s staring up at gorgeous blue eyes, a sinful smile, and a jaw that probably cuts diamonds. Then, he’s more than okay with it. Stiles’ tongue dries up so badly that he has to actively focus on removing it from the roof of his mouth. The scratchy muscle fails at wetting his lips, but they drag along them just the same.

Snippet 2:

“You’re not serious,” Isaac states, all panic in his chemosignals gone. Only to be replaced with disbelief. “So we’re obviously not in the same part of the preserve you thought we were.” The wolf tries to take a step forward, only for Stiles to stop him again, “no. I’ve been coming here for months, Is. Months. There’s no way this isn’t the place. See?” He points to the tree beside the wolf, “carved my initials and everything. What the hell-” All of the flowers have begun to sway, bumping into one another, causing small particles to dance above them. “Whoa,” Isaac muses, Stiles too busy looking at the flowers to notice the wolf getting closer to them for inspection. “I gotta say, they are pretty though,” his voice sounds off, like he’s not quite himself. Transfixed by something, Isaac’s hand reaches out before the fox can stop him, and he touches one of the vibrant petals. The reaction is instant. The flower shudders before releasing a plume of shimmering, purple smoke into the air. Isaac sneezes, coughing the intrusive substance from his lungs.

Snippet 3:

Victoria rolls her eyes, “and here I was told you were the smart one. Did you really think I would let my daughter be friends with one of your kind?” The huntress sneers at him. “I’d never hurt Alli,” the wolf argues, yanking on his restraints. “Please, just let me go. I won’t talk to her anymore if that’s what you want.”

Snippet 4:

Stiles has never even seen the gates of Olympus. What hurts even worse, the reason Stiles is laying at the bottom of his pool, is he was promised a place behind those golden gates. With his husband. Other than Hades’ children, Stiles has always been skeptical of any descendant of the big three. It’s a tale as old as time, Stiles was blinded by a pretty face that spoke even prettier words. Only to be betrayed by beauty that rivals Aphrodite herself. Which kind of makes sense considering his husband is a son of hers. His father being Zeus himself. Theodore, a beautiful man with a wicked heart. Bringing his hand to his face, Stiles looks at the branded ‘T’ on his ring finger.

For the ask game since im a big goofball that forgot to open my ask box. 🙃

✨️ - Do you have any nicknames? I have a couple. My sister in-law calls me Rowboat and my wife calls me Ro-ro or Rolo.

🐰 - What do you think says the most about you as a person? I'm kind of an oddball and I try to make everyone around me feel like they can be themselves around me. I didn't get to be weird and goof as a kid so I try to encourage everyone to be themselves as often as possible.

🌼 - What's the last thing you said out loud? I told my wife to be safe getting back home and then immediately demanded that she text me back to the on-going thing that we're writing together 🤣

☕️ - Coffee or Tea? Coffee, I've wanted to be the kind of girlie that likes ans drinks tea, but I can barely drink it even when I'm sick.
