hii can i ask a random question if you dont mind? Why do u like Hawks?
Ohhhhhh. Oohhhhhhhhh.
Cracking my knuckles. Sorry for the essay, anon.
So. I saw Hawks before I even started watching MHA, and it was like. Oh HELLO who is THAT– Because I grew up reading the Maximum Ride books and have a soft spot for bird themed characters in general. Like half of my favorite characters have a bird theme of some sort.
But I was completely sold in his first episode, when he grabbed the mic as the heroes on stage were spitting the same sanitized, pre-rehearsed bullshit. Because I deeply, DEEPLY admire his lack of regard for keeping things "hush-hush". He speaks the unspoken, he doesn't buy into the song and dance of expecting people to play along with the unsaid. He's a disrupter and he's unashamed about it.
Like, for example, when the hero commission "asks" him to do the league infiltration mission, he straight up looks them in the eye and says, "so, you're 'asking' me to do this mission knowing I'm in no position to refuse. Am I getting that right?"
He breaks the tension, calls people out, leaves them speechless with no regard for the pearl-clutching that will ensue (I say no regard, but he is very, very thoughtful).
I really love that. Because I am SOOOOOO tired of dealing with "we don't talk about that" in my life. So I'm gripping Hawks in my fist like YOU. YOU GET IT.
His backstory is extremely important to me, with the commission and otherwise. I'm not getting into why, but it drives a lot of my writing and exactly why I think about him so much, and how I think about him.
The themes of his character are extremely interesting to analyze, and I value his perspective and motivations. Corruption, self sacrifice, isolation, greater good, what "too-fast" actually means, etc. I have a lot of opinions on each that I think about a lot, and how it relates to his backstory.
It's interesting to pick apart the contradictions/dualities of his character in my head while also being mindful of how much of how he acts is a persona of sorts. I definitely need to see more of how he acts to get a better picture of that.
I like morally grey characters, and Hawks is comfortably morally grey in his actions while still being so undeniably good at his core.
Hawks is favorite-character-bait for me, every part of his character is like absolutely irresistable to me.
Theres a million compliments I could give about him being such a good boy and cute and adorable and pretty and handsome and how I wanna tuck his hair behind his ears too. But i'll stop here before I talk your ear off lmao.

Regarding your tags about needing wings: SAME! Ever since like middle school (I blame the Maximum Ride books) I have been obsessed with the idea of having wings like it feels like I should have them and they're missing. I don't even need to fly I just need the damn wings! (screaming at the heavens) Give me my dusty grey feathers you cowards!
(referencing these tags)
YOU GET MEEE! it literally does feel like something’s missing it’s soo strange. i literally NEED THEM!!! and now that you mention it, i read a few of the maximum ride books last year and they might have been an inspiration for tllr (along with a whole bunch of other things that inspired me. also it might not have because i don’t remember if i got the tllr idea before or after i read those books).
anyway a few years ago i was hyperfixated on the Netflix show Lucifer (highly recommended, it’s very funny) which definitely increased my want/need for wings lol. the way the wings look on that show are so cool and def inspired me to give Dew wings as well.
i’m happy i’m not the only one who feels this way, like i’ve literally never told anyone this before because when i was in middle school (or younger) i remember my friends asked me what my “dream” was (like dream job/ dream house, something that i really really want) and i said i’ve always wanted to be able to fly, and they just made fun of me lmao. it sucked but yeah
i just need wings man i need to be able to fly above the clouds and be closer to the stars and escape the stresses of real life by just flying through the sky and being free. i wanna sneak out during the night and fly around for hours without a care in the world. i wanna feel the wind in my feathers as i fly and feel the giant fluffy wings on my back and wrap them around myself in a hug. i wanna flap them back and forth really fast when i’m happy and stim with them. i need wings. i’m supposed to have them and they’re missing.
i just wanna fly man with or without wings (i’ll definitely go skydiving one day, i’m not scared of hights). it’s def a reason the vast is one of my favorite tma entities as well. i see some really cool cosplays of people making wings that look real so that’s something i’m definitely doing in the future when i get enough money. wings are just so cool :]

LOOK WHAT SHOWED UP ON EBAY
ok i will be a little more normal and explain. this is the SOF promotional soundtrack, a mindbogglingly-rare piece of marketing for the second Maximum Ride book. prior to the release of said book, the CD was available in a number of ways: a weekly contest run through the forums, a promotional offer through Five Below, as a prize in radio contests, and as a gift with each of the first 100,000 copies of School's Out -- Forever.
but as far as i’ve been able to uncover, it was never available for purchase, and it is now completely unobtainable unless you go to the, like, one library in California that owns a copy.
or if someone lists one on eBay.
(yes, of course i bought it lmao)

Facts About Fellow Writers Tag Game
Thanks so much @graysparrowao3 for tagging me! This was a lot of fun to think about!
Last book I read: So it's been a very long time since I've read a physical book because books are very expensive these days, but the last one I've read was a book from the Olympian series by George O'Conner. I can't remember which one specifically, but I believe it was Hera or Ares?? I got the majority of the collection when I was younger because I loved Greek Mythology! I still do, honestly!
Greatest literary inspiration: It was the Maximum Ride series! They had it in my school library in graphic novel form, and I instantly was enthralled! I wanted so badly to make stories after that, to the point where I wrote my own book. (I don't have it anymore, but that's probably good since it was very terribly written lmao)
Things in my current fandom I want to read but I don't want to write: I would love more things on the tiefling refugees! I want to see an exploration on their perspectives on everything for sure!
Things in my current fandoms I want to write but I think nobody would be interested in them but me: Bex and Danis! I love those two so much, it makes me so happy seeing them both. I want to write a one shot but I doubt anyone would read it, so it would probably be something for myself hahaha!
You can recognize my writing by: I have no idea! I don't think there's a lot of specific things in my writing style. I've only recently written depressing things so maybe that? That sounds so bad haha!
My most controversial take (current fandom): Personally, I think Act 3 feels a bit incomplete? I think there was more that could be done to tie things together more. Because of that reason Act 3 is my least favorite Act out of the other 2.
Current writing mood (10 – super motivated and churning out words like crazy, 0 – in a complete rut): A solid 7 I think! I recently got swamped with projects and work, but when I have the time I'm always writing something out on my phone! Whether a small scene, some poetry, or random snippets to put in future chapter! Recently there's been lots of random scenes for Rolan and my Tav, Pyxis. Though with other fics I've been lagging behind because I've been so busy.
Top three favourite tropes: As much there is plenty of tropes I dislike, there's also plenty I love! It was so hard to pick just three!
Hurt/Comfort: An all time classic for me! I'm a sucker for hurt comfort always, it's usually what I filter first when getting into a new fandom! When my Rolan brainrot started, this tag is where I went first so I could see him get a hug.
Sharing a Bed: When done well, this trope can be pretty funny and/or sweet! It doesn't even have to lead into sex, my favorite is when the characters lay there and let themselves be vulnerable, possibly open up! There's so much you can do with this trope to make it unique!
Mutual Pining: I've always been into pining tropes! There's so many creative ways to write it, and I also love writing it myself! The tension, the misunderstandings, the slowburn, all of it! Exploring
Share a random frustration: I can have the most beautiful sentence in my head, yet when I try to put it down in writing, it never comes out the way I want it! It's incredibly annoying and makes me feel like I'm a bad writer sometimes.

When reading a book or watching a series, have you :
a. Finish a book or a series, even when you dislike the mc until the end but love the story (What's the title?)
b. Finish a book or a series, even when you dislike the story but love the mc (what's the title?)
c Finish a book or a series, even when you dislike the mc and story but love the worldbuilding (what's the title?)
d. Finish a book or a series, even when you dislike the mc, story, worldbuilding but still finish it for whatever reason (what's the title?)
The thing about me is I will drop a series very easily, if it can't hold my attention I'll be usually just drop it and move on lol. A and C are automatically out because I'm a big character reader/watcher, so if I find the main character boring or annoying, it's not for me. Not that the main character needs to be my favorite, they often aren't, but this is the character that the reader spends the most time with and it's through their POV usually, I should find them likeable or interesting enough to continue to care about plot/worldbuilding/everything else. There are exceptions to this in the form of I grew up reading the same YA slop that everyone my age read, so looking back I completed a lot of series that weren't very good and had main characters I found annoying. Harry Potter, Divergent, Maximum Ride, Pendragon series, Cinder, none of these hold up unfortunately (main exceptions to this being PJO, Hunger Games, and the Uglies series <3).
For the second question, the only one that comes to mind is Legend of Korra. LOVE Korra, I think she's a really interesting avatar and her character journey is really great to follow, but the series does get hampered by convoluted romance plot lines that I didn't care about, production issues that greatly rushed the pacing in season 4, and I didn't really care about the plot by the end because it was so all over the place. I don't think Korra herself is an issue in the series though, she gets way too much shit.
The last scenario where I finish it without liking anything is usually when I've invested a lot of time and love into a series and then it just falls on it's face at the end. Voltron comes to mind instantly where I just hated everything about Season 7 and 8, but I'm on Seasons 7 and 8 so I might as well finish the damn thing. Same exact scenario with Game of Thrones (the tv show). Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu is a 10/10 series until the "twist" with the open ending, it was soooo unnecessary and like. It wasn't crashing and burning like Voltron and GOT, it just abruptly slaps you in the face with it before leaving lmao. So maybe it doesn't fit because I DO love everything else about it, but this ending would color how I view the series on a reread, and that sucks. Other series like this would be Blue Flag, Death Note, Attack on Titan (kind of, the series is mostly fine I just got really grossed out with the antisemitism in season 4), The Promised Neverland season 2, Darling in the Franxx (idk why i started let alone completed this), Eragon series, Allegiant (looking back I hate the entire Divergent series, but this is the first time I remember finishing a series and hating the ending). There are probably more than this as well lol.

My new years resolution is to read 100 books! I do want to reread some that I've read in the past, but the main purpose is to read more new ones. I used to read like crazy and it was lots of fun, but I've been slacking a lot when it comes to enjoying hobbies I used to enjoy. Plus, I heard that engaging in hobbies you like can improve your mental health. That's something I really need right now lmao. Wish me luck😌👍🏾.
Books I've read so far
Boys run the riot volume 2
Maximum ride volume 2

2023 Reading Highlights
Since the last years I barely managed to read 10-12 books maximum per year, I wasn't too hopeful when the year started. I made myself the challenge to try to read 12 books in 2023 and oh boy what a ride I was in for.
In April my then read books were ZERO. And then I joined a book club. And then another one. And in the last eight months of 2023 I managed to read a total of 54 books. Some where smol novellas, others were huge af BOOKS™.
But, as it always is when you read alot, there are good books, less good books, and hilariously bad ones too.
I read books about merpeople, ghosts, witches, werewolves, and vampires, and even about the occasional orc and demi god
My favorite reads this year where definitely The Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas, the Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo, and Into the drowning Deep by Mira Grant, tho those were by far not the only books I enjoyed reading.
I even finally found good representation of autistic main characters and poly relationships (which are both very hard to find), but of course I also found lots of bad (mainly gay) representation...
The absolute worst (and most hilarious) scene I read this year was about certain bad queer rep vampires doin *something specific you can do with certain characteristics of the lower half of cis male bodies* which involved biting, the mention of the involved tasting like VANILLA CUSTARD, and afterwards the question of the involved "Oh, how do you know such good things?" which the active part involved answered, that he's a MAN and such as KNOW WHAT HE LIKES... Well, it was food for very funny discussions in my book clubs (after which my online book club friends seemed to want to gauge out their eyes?) LMAO
And with that... Happy new Year? I was feeling kinda bold so for 2024 I set my reading challenge to 20 books o.o

I really like the stars. I imagine taking a loved one out to a forest clearing, spreading a picnic blanket, and looking up at the stars.
The Yandere types I know are the two tumblr MBTIs and this one master list site :obsessive, restraint, dependent, harmless ect)
I like Artemis, Athena, and Hestia. Hestia just projects the comforting homey atmosphere I want in a friendship. Artemis as a nature and moon goddess really speaks to me. Athena is just plain awesome. Hades gets a bad rap due to Christianity but he’s pretty cool.
Right now I’m hoping to get into the maximum Ride series. Currently reading The Jasmine Throne and The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet.
Wow this got way long sorry
🌸
I don't mind the length darling! :) ♡
Stars are very pretty, sadly, I don't see them from the city much. Mostly at all.
I'll do some reading about the MBTIs since I don't know them all! I'll let you know! <3
Okay but Artemis is really interesting though, considering she's also a hunting kind of goddess! And I like how you describe them btw! I found Hermes funny tbh lmao!
I didn't know Hades had a bad reputation because of Christianity! Well, you learn something knew everyday huh? Actually I'm Christian and i know Mythology clashes with it, but I adore Hades! I feel like he's just misunderstood :( the guy is just doing his job you know? And I love his and Persephone's story so much!
Also book readers>>>>
Thanks for sharing sweetheart! <3

first ship: sasusaku, and honestlly this is one that has evolved beyond the source material and aged like fine wine for me. its also the first and only ship ive ever written fanfic for lmao
first OTP: max and fang from maximum ride but i now realize they were all assholes and the books were pretty bad too lmao
current ship: laudna and imogen from critical role, and/or laudna and ashton. laudna is my undead queen.
shipped them from the start: yennefer and geralt. didnt read the books or even meet triss in w3 before id decided yennefer was the only woman for geralt.
wish they were endgame: elliot and quentin from the magicians. there was clearly some building tension and a genuine connection between them, but then their entire arc was shoved into a time loop montage and quentin left him for alice again anyway. there were mentions of how deep that had been for them, but because their relationship was condensed it didn't feel earned by the show. quentin x alice was alright but quentin x elliot just made sense.
wish they had a different story: alyna and darkling. now look. i know darkling is a predator. i know there are scenes that equate to assault in light of that fact, and scenes that are assault without that fact. if their story could be changed i would elimante both of those issues and change the ending so that alyna realized mal was toxic and left him for aleks. the darkling wasnt a jealous asshole who assumed his only worth came from being good at fighting. darkling didn't have the classic, "im a man, so i have to be shirtless and breaking bones to express my emotions" arc. darkling had motivations and dreams outside of a single woman, and he appreciated alynas intelligence and beauty and skill, didn't always pit himself against her but envisioned them working together. i could go on forever about how much i hated the predator twist, and mainly because the darkling became a wasted character. i would have loved to see his motivations as a grisha refugee given more nuance, and then seen a redemption arc of some sort. but instead we're stuck with "i saw you walking past my cell (also as a prisoner) with the darkling so you don't love me anymore" "i guess i don't mean anything to you so i am become a sword" mal.

I don’t know if you’ve ever answered this but do you have a favorite book in the acotar series? And then do you have a favorite book that’s not necessarily by sjm?
Ooooh tough one. I have to go A Court of Wings and Ruin because of Az at the meeting with the High Lords. It woke something within me lmao. Solidified me as even more of an Az girlie.
Honestly, I haven’t read a lot of books recently before or since then. I used to read so much when I was in middle/high school but I don’t think that I have an absolute favorite (besides acotar now). I do love learning/reading about Greek mythology tho.
Here’s a fun fact: I started writing fan fiction when I was like 13? I wrote it for Maximum Ride by James Patterson and then in high school I wrote fanfiction for 1D and now I’m here, still writing fan fiction 😅
Some things just don’t change 🤷🏼‍♀️

5 - where do you buy books?    varies! my best friend and i tend to frequent this used book store where you can donate books and get ‘credit’ to buy books from them usually for like 1-2 dollars. sometimes amazon, sometimes barnes&nobles, sometimes more local bookstores. i do prefer physical copies instead of kindle or anything else due to my focus/attention span issues so
7 - is there a series/book that got you into reading?    OOOOOH man... i was a big reader when i was a kid... i thiiiiink, if i had to choose, it’d probably be either the inkheart trilogy or the pjo series! warriors cats also gets a nod here, although i think it was after i read either one of those.
10 - do you have a guilty fav?    does maximum ride count as a guilty fave........... i don’t think i can think of many else, so let me just say that series LMAO
