Pairing: Fred Weasley x reader (gender neutral, i think)
Warnings: explicit language (three curse words), TOOTH ROTTING FLUFF cuz why not
Word count: 2.5k
Summary: you visit the Weasleys during winter holidays and find Fred working on something secret in the forest
A/n: AKSJNDNB NAVES (@phuvioqhile) HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABE <3 this is so long but very fluffy so I hope u enjoy !
Tumblr media
Winter. The best time of the year, when snow falls from the sky, burying the world in pure bliss. And with it comes all the activities that make everyone’s lives brighter; snowball wars, snowmen, gingerbread houses, and sleighing. Things that you’d never grow tired of, even as a seventeen-year-old.
Not to mention the time you spent with your friends, the Weasleys, who never failed to make the snowy times even more magical. You’d befriended the redheads already in first grade, during your first trip to Hogwarts. You’d been wandering around the train in search of an empty compartment, but since you found none, you decided to get seated in the one closest to you.
Lucky for you, the people in the compartment were Fred and George Weasley, second years, accompanied by their friend, Lee Jordan. The four of you quickly found a mutual passion for pranks and jokes, together with shared interests, like quidditch and food. Throughout the years, you became best friends, though you felt a stronger connection to Fred than the other boys.
Because of the strong bond between you and the whole Weasley family, there was rarely a year you wouldn’t visit their house for Christmas break. This year was no different, except your longing to see the Twins’ faces was stronger, after a whole semester without seeing them. They’d already finished school last year, leaving you to fend for yourself. This ended in a very boring semester for you, so when Fred sent you an invitation like every year, you were more excited than ever.
This is why you presently were in a car that was parking outside of the burrow. You could have taken Floo powder instead, but you always enjoyed looking at the view while you were driving. It was part of the magic, in one way.
When you arrived, the snow was falling down from the sky with as much force as it did when you left your own residence. There was already about three inches of the white mass on the ground, making it hard for you to waddle your way to the Burrow’s front door. You knocked three times and waited with a big smile on your face for Molly to open up.
“Oh, y/n!” She exclaimed in glee. “How wonderful, you’re already here! Come in, sweetheart.”
You gladly obeyed, stepping into the cozy and warm house. You were quickly met by hugs from Ginny and Molly, as well as an awkward handshake from Ron.
Then, no other than George Weasley came sprinting down the stairs to hug you, but stumbled over his own feet at the very end of the staircase. Breaking out into laughter, you gave him your hand and pulled him up from the ground. He only snorted with laughter, pulling you in for a hug, which lasted for at least three minutes.
“Hi, Georgie” you giggled. “Where’s Fred?”
“Oh, he’s outside,” Molly replied before he could. “In the forest behind the house. Probably didn’t expect you to come this early. Come here, give me your bag and go find him.”
You sent George an apologetic smile as you saw the half-serious disappointment on his face. He pouted a little, but you caught a glimpse of a smile behind there; he wasn’t all that annoyed at you. It might have been because he knew about your little crush on his twin, and no matter how much he loved spending time with you, he was dying to make the two of you something more than friends.
“Thank you, Mrs. Weasley” you shouted, wriggling out of George’s grasp and running off before Molly could jokingly scold you for calling her ‘Mrs. Weasley’ and not ‘mum’.
The cold air hit your face with much force, stinging your skin harshly. You didn’t pay much attention to it, though, because you were solely focused on finding Fred and giving him a giant bear hug. Only the thought of him made your heartbeat speed up, and you were quite sure your face would have heated up if you weren’t outside in the freezing cold.
The forest behind the burrow was small but consisted of tons of trees that were swaying with the wind, losing many of their leaves in the process. On some of them, there were lumps of snow, weighing down the branches. Every now and then, the branches would give in and bend, so that the snow could fall down and join its relatives on the ground.
The scenery was incredibly beautiful, only strengthening your love for the cold season, almost causing you to forget what, or who, you were looking for in the first place.
“Fred?” You shouted. “Freddie, where are you?”
No answer came, so you set off into depths of the woods. It wasn’t a scary forest, like the ones in horror movies, more like a peaceful and calming one. You wandered around for about five minutes before you spotted him. Well, his hair. It made a big contrast to the white forest, making it easier for you to find him.
Surprisingly, he wasn’t sitting by a tree. He was up in one, standing one of the branches. The snow made it hard for you to see, but it appeared that he had something in his hand and he was trying to place it somewhere.
“Fred?” You inquired, gaining his attention. As his eyes met yours, he gave you a cheeky smile, causing your knees to grow weak.
“‘M coming!”
He quickly made his way down, crawling down a ladder you hadn’t seen before. It was attached to the stump of the tree, and while you tried your best to see where it led to, there was too much snow on the branches. Still, the ladder had sparked your interest, which Fred must’ve noticed as he chuckled a little, standing in front of you.
His cheeks were rosy from the cold and his hair was a complete mess, and even though you’d never admit it, it complimented his face nicely. He was wearing many layers of clothing, which were probably knitted by Molly to prevent her rogue son from catching a cold.
Fred’s wide smile was enough to make you forget the ladder, and whatever it was he was doing on that tree, and all that mattered was that you finally got to see him.
“Fred!” You put your arms around his neck, pulling him into an embrace. “I’ve missed you so much”
He chuckled into your hair, wrapping his arms around you as well. “I’ve missed you too, sunshine.”
Your breath hitched slightly at the nickname. He’d been calling you that for years now, yet it still made your legs jelly. It was something so intimate about it, making you wonder if perhaps he also wanted the two of you to be more than just friends. The chances weren’t big, but hey, one can dream, right?
You pulled away from him slowly, letting your gaze fall on his eyes. Oh, how you loved his eyes! They were brown and radiated warmth, like wood burning its way through your soul. They were your favorite thing of his, they had this glint of adoration in them each time he looked at you.
“So,” you cleared your throat, pointing up at the tree. “What’re you doing up there?”
“Oh, that” a smirk made its way to his face. “I’ll show you if you promise not to tell anyone.”
“Anyone except George and Lee,” you corrected him with a smile, knowing they probably already knew. To your surprise, he shook his head.
“No, not even them”
You were shocked, to say the least. He never kept anything from his brother or Lee. They were his best friends.
You were about to say something, but he grabbed your hand, pulling you towards the tree. His hands found their way to your waist, as he helped you crawl up the ladder. You mumbled a “thank you”, feeling your face heat up from the touch.
Merely a few seconds later, you pulled yourself up to stand one of the thicker branches. The sight that was revealed to you was enough to knock the air out of your lungs. You were standing in front of a door to a small cabin, built around the tree. A treehouse.
You smiled at the scenery, getting your breath back. The cabin was beautiful, made out of regular wood, but painted dark brown, with a real doorway and some windows. It certainly took a long time to build that thing, especially in the cold.
“Do you like it?” Fred’s voice was low in your ear as he spoke. You turned to face him, grinning even wider in response to his excited tone.
“It’s beautiful,” you admitted truthfully. “Am I the first person you’ve shown this?”
“First and last. It’s yours”
The smile faded from your face, leaving nothing but an expression of pure shock. Were you hearing right? Did he build this... for you? The cold air suddenly wasn’t that cold anymore, and your heart sped up. His words played on repeat in your mind. It’s yours.
The grin returned to your face, now bigger than ever, and you let out a short laugh of ecstasy. Before you could think twice, you wrapped your arms around Fred, letting him spin you around. Your laughs filled the air, and you swore you could hear Fred breathe out, relieved.
“Oh my god, Fred!” You beamed. “I love you so much”
Your words made him stop spinning. He let go of you, taking a step back and looking at you, confused. No, not confused, rather surprised.
You realized what you’d just said, mentally face-palming yourself. You seriously just told your best friend you loved him. Real smooth, y/n. Suddenly you really wished you weren’t there. That you could just disappear into thin air, and never see Fred again. Though you probably wouldn’t have been able to handle that. You loved him too much.
Yes, yes, you did. You couldn’t even deny it anymore. You were in love with your best friend. How tragic. How really fucking tragic. And now you’d totally fucked up your friendship.
Oh, how you wanted to leave, and oh, how you wanted to stay. You didn’t want him to reject you, but you didn’t want him to stay quiet. You wanted him to say something, anything, yet at the same time, you hoped he’d just forget it and move on.
“I love you, too”
Oh, shit. That was not what you expected to hear. Your heart stopped for a moment, all blood left your face. You were astonished, your bones had turned to stone. You couldn’t move, you couldn’t talk. The only thing you could do was stare at him and his beautiful, brown eyes.
“You do?” Was all you could force out.
“Yeah,” he smiled, showing his teeth. And there it was again. That glint in his eyes made you forget everything outside of your little bubble. Yours and Fred’s bubble. A bubble you didn’t want to break.
Then, leaving your common sense behind you, you kissed him. You threw your arms around his neck, pulling him down to face you and you pressed your cold lips against his, rather warm ones. You were afraid he’d pull away, flinch when you touched him, but he didn’t.
Instead, he pulled you even closer, leaving no space between you, as your lips moved in synch. His hands were on your cheeks, gently caressing them. The kiss was soft and full of unspoken words, like a gentle breeze that suddenly makes you remember things you’d forgotten. You smiled into the kiss, happier than ever. Fred let out a laugh, muffled by your lips.
After some time, your wide smiles and giggles made it impossible to continue the kiss, so you pulled away, your lips swollen, your heart ecstatic.
“Wow,” Fred breathed out. “I should make you tree houses more often”
“You should. Can I see it from the inside?”
“It’s yours, you can do whatever you want with it”, he said, motioning towards the door. “Ladies first”
You grabbed his hand, holding it tightly as you opened the door and stepped into the house. It was a little scary, and you prayed the house wouldn’t collapse. At least Fred was holding your hand, though that didn’t exactly calm your nerves either.
The inside of the treehouse was no worse than the outside. If anything, it was even cozier, not to mention warm! How Fred had done that, you had no idea, but as you were looking around the room Fred had built specifically for you, it didn’t really matter.
He’d really thought about everything. There was a small table in the middle of the room, accompanied by a small kitchen; with a microwave and some cooler bags. On the right, there was a sofa with dozens of pillows and blankets. Behind it were some shelves, filled with all kinds of stuff. In the corner, there even were two sleeping bags.
Tearing you away from your awe, Fred cleared his throat. “So, since we’ve already kissed and confessed our feelings...”
His tone made you feel nervous. What was he going to say? That he only loved you as a friend? That the kiss was a mistake? Merlin’s beard, what if it was a prank? He loved pulling pranks, even on George, so why wouldn’t he pull one on you?
No, he wasn’t that cruel. He wouldn’t do that to you, not after you opened your heart to him completely. Yet his facial expression was neutral and to no help.
“Yeah?” You asked shakily, urging him to finish, yet at the same time, you didn’t want to hear it.
“Y/n L/n,” he said, his expression confident and a vibrant smile on his face. “Would you do me the honor of becoming my girlfriend?”
And that’s when you decided to get some payback. He’d made you so nervous, so scared of rejection, when he wanted to ask you this? Obviously, you were happy. No, not happy, ecstatic. But he didn’t need to know that.
You scrunched your nose, almost in disgust, and furrowed your brows. His face immediately fell and his smile was replaced by a hurt expression. You knew you were being cruel but he kind of deserved it. After three and a half seconds of silence that none of you could handle, you finally gave in.
“Yes, of course, I want to be your girlfriend, dumbass”
The relief on his face was almost too comical to watch, but when he voted closer to you and pressed his lips against yours, your laughter died down, muted by the kiss. You could feel all his emotions through that connection, and not only that; you felt them as your own.
The relief, the euphoria, the love. All of it. It was there, in the air surrounding you, between you and inside of you. And you hoped it would never fade.

(Warnings: Parents that fight, insecurity, self doubt, extreme verbal abuse, lANGuAgE)
They were fighting again. You could hear it from downstairs.
“You can’t just come home drunk every night!” your dad shouted.
“I told you, I was just at the office late tonight! I wasn’t- I’m not drunk!” you heard your mom slur. Even though her words were steady, you could hear her tripping over her own feet.
“I can’t do this anymore, Belle! Y/N cries herself to sleep half the time because of you!”
“Y/N is just a wimpy little whore! She can’t even talk without that damn stutter!”
“She only stutters when she’s talking to you!” your dad shouted, “You’ve made her so scared of you she can’t even look you in the eye!”
You let a small tear fall down your cheek before turning the music in your headphones up. It seems like the only thing that could keep you calm was music. Whether it’d be Garth Brooks, Jared Halley, or (favorite artist), you somehow found comfort on nights like these.
‘Hey, you up?’ you scribbled on your arm.
Thirty seconds later, there was a response.
‘Of course I am. Is it happening again?’
You sighed. He always knew what was going on.
‘Yea. Trying to drown it out though.’
‘That’s good. Where are you going for your third year of high school? I remember you said you were transferring...’
You sighed, remembering that you were starting school tomorrow. A full two weeks into the school year.
‘Yueei High. How about you?’
‘Yueei? Wow. That’s pretty cool.’
‘I guess. It wasn’t my choice though. I feel pressured into it, my dad being the freaking number two hero.’
‘Wait a second- what?’
You gasped, forgetting you’d barely mentioned anything about yourself besides the fighting. Capping your pen. You curled up on your bed, letting out a sob.
Your snow white wings curled around you, and the halo of hope that you felt in your hidden identity shattered, as you cried yourself to sleep.
----------
“Mirio I messed up.” he said as soon as his friend picked up the phone.
Around fifteen seconds later, a naked teenager barreled through his wall. Tamaki stifled a scream and he covered his eyes.
“You keep forgetting that we live in dorms Tamaki, just come on over and knock!” he smiled.
“M-Mirio, p-please put some c-clothes on.”
“Oh, right. Sorry about that.” he said blankly, going back to his room. A few minutes later a knock sounded on his door and Tamaki got up and opened it.
Outside stood Mirio and.. Nejire.
He shook his head, of course Mirio called her over. They were practically attached at the hip ever since they found out they were soulmates. It would have made him feel like a third wheel, but he was too involved in their friendship to be let go like that.
He motioned for them to come in, and then he explained the situation.
“Well,” Nejire trailed off. “She obviously doesn’t know you’ll be here. So we could surprise her tomorrow. I’m sure she’d be happy to see you.”
Mirio nodded, “That could work! And, we could all be best friends!”
Tamaki shrunk back, “But what if she doesn’t like the attention?”
“It’ll be fine!” Nejire smiled, “She’ll feel welcomed in no time!”
----
It was Monday.
You had hesitantly gotten up to your alarm at around five-thirty, and had taken a quick hot shower. As soon as you’d gotten dressed and your hair & wings dried, you looked at the clock. It was now six-thirty.
You headed downstairs, being mindful of the shattered vase on the ground. Sliding over to the kitchen in your sock-clad feet, you opened the fridge to find a small bento and a note.
‘hey little fledgling, I made you some lunch- don’t forget that you have a meeting with principal nezu at eight. love you! - the overgrown chicken <3’
You smiled softly at your father’s antics, and you put the small bento in your saddle bag, along with a few one-subject notebooks and a pencil case.
Filling up your water bottle, you clipped it onto the side of your bag and slipped on your shoes. Patting the side pocket, you made sure your phone and wallet were in there, before heading out.
You didn’t live very far from the school, but you still wanted to get out of your house early, before the rush of kids trying to get to school came out. You didn’t like it when they stared at your wings. It made you feel uncomfortable.
Sighing, you trudged along the sidewalk, littered with old pieces of gum and trash. Quickening your pace, you managed to get to school at around seven-fifteen.
Taking a breath, you entered the gates and pulled up the schedule and map of the school that your dad had sent you earlier. Taking a few more cautious steps forward, you made your way up the steps to your locker.
---
“Hello!” a small white mouse thing shouted, looking at you. “You must be Y/N Takami!”
You nodded your head slightly, “That’s me.”
“Great!” he smiled, taking a look at your obviously nervous form, before starting the meeting.
He ended up giving you a tour, since you were pretty early, and explained how the hero course would work.
“I understand that your father has taught you about hero-work for the past few years, correct?”
You nodded, “Yes, that’s true.”
He grinned, “I take it you’re very well acquainted with the rules of hero-work then.”
You nodded again, “Yes sir, I am. I have even already received my provisional licensing exam.”
He hummed, already expecting as much. “Well then, Takami-san. Here is your classroom. Do you need anything else before we go inside?”
You stiffened, not quite realizing that you’d already made your way to your class.
“N-No, not of the moment. But thank you.” you stammered.
“Ok then!” he smiled, opening the door, and leading you inside.
You took a shaky breath before following him in, your wings stiffened.
“Hello!” Nezu started, “A new student has transferred into your class, please introduce yourself.”
You faced the front of the class with the most false courage you could muster.
“H-Hi, I-I’m Y/N Takami, p-please take care of me!” you bowed swiftly.
“Woah! You have wings!”
“That’s so cool!”
“She’s cute, too!”
“Yess! Another girl!”
You smiled politely at the compliments as you made your way to the back of the classroom, waving Nezu goodbye.
“Well!” your teacher said, “Why don’t you all take this period to introduce yourselves!”
The students cheered before you were met face-to-face with a guy who looked a bit like tin-tin.
“Eep!” you screamed slightly, startled.
“Mirio!” a blue haired girl yelled, “What did we talk about! Don’t scare her off!”
She sighed, before taking your hand, “Hi, I’m Nejire Hado, just call me Nejire.”
“Y-Y/N Takami, but y-you already knew that. Just call me Y/N.”
“Okey dokey, Y/N!” she smiled. “So! What do you like to do in your spare time?”
You and Nejire chatted away as the rest of the class just fell into a steady murmur. But, as you glanced around, you couldn’t help but notice the guy sitting a few rows from you, who was stressfully talking to the other guy from earlier.
Huh. Weird.
----
“Y/N! Y/N! Come eat lunch with us!” Nejire shouted from across the room. You froze before nodding slightly, feeling like a deer in headlights.
Packing up your bag, you looked at the small red flower you drew on your hand during class. It wasn’t much, but looking at it helped you calm down.
Slowly, you followed a chipper Nejire down the hall, noting the two boys following you as well.
When you all had finally found an empty table in the cafeteria, you sat down and began to eat.
“So, Y/N-” the tin-tin look-alike, who you knew as Mirio, started, “Have you found your soulmate yet?”
You, Nejire, and the shy boy you were introduced to, Tamaki, choked on your food.
“Mirio!”
“Y-you c-can’t j-just ask t-that!”
You giggled slightly at their antics, the question settling deep into your mind. What do you say?
“No.” you sighed, “I haven’t met him yet.”
The table was silent as you began to eat again, the tension thick.
Finally not being able to take it, you sighed looking up, “Is there something wrong with-”
Your breath caught in your throat.
On Tamaki’s hand, was the very flower you drew in class that day.
They seemed to notice your tense stature as they one-by-one began to follow your gaze.
“-oh.”
“Surprise?”
Your eyes widened as you realized that in fact, your soulmate was sitting right in front of you. This was it.
As your mind processed your feelings, you were reminded of last night, and how everyone at this table might know about your situation. Memories rushed through your head; the fighting, the drinking, the words, abuse, everything.
It all came back to you in a rush as panic started to seep in.
“I, u-um.” you started, trailing off, “I’ve gotta go.”
Turning quickly, you hurried out of the cafeteria, tears slipping past your eyes.
“H-hey, wait!” you heard, but it didn’t stop you. You just kept running.
Suddenly you found yourself under a water fountain, hyperventilating.
What felt like hours later, you heard footsteps coming down the hallway. Soon enough, you were wrapped into unfamiliar, yet comforting arms.
“H-hey, hey. It’s alright. Nothing’s gonna hurt you here, ok?” you heard someone whisper into your ear.
“I’ll go grab Recovery girl.”
“Ok, I’ll go inform sensei.”
You heard other voices, but you slowly drowned them out and listened to the one who was beside you. They rubbed soft circles on your back as your breathing slowly calmed down.
“Are you alright?” They asked, and you finally opened your eyes.
It was Tamaki.
“I-I’m so sorry!” you cried, “I couldn’t stop thinking about-”
“It’s ok-” Tamaki cut in, “Y-you’ll be okay. We can sort this out.”
You let a few more tears out as your breathing slowed. You felt your eyes close as your last thought flew through your mind.
‘Maybe- this’ll be alright.’
Bonus:
“I hereby give full custody of Y/N M/N Takami to Takami Keigo.”
A loud slam was heard before you broke out into tears, hugging your soulmate and your father close, one of which was being very stiff and awkward at the sudden contact.
‘Yeah, this’ll definitely be alright.’
Hope you enjoyed!

REMEMBER THE MANTRA: EVERYTHING SUCKS RIGHT NOW!
part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4 | part 5 | part 6 | part 7 | part 8 | part 9 | part 10 | part 11 cw: blood, gore
god-blood lingered on your tongue, fingers stained with red, as you wiped your blade on your chiton. you have heard medicine men slicing open skin to suck the venom out from wounds inflicted by venomous snakes - how effective it was is another story. he does not move, but with a gentle hand, told you that he still breathed. how long he lived; however, was a story you could not discern for yourself.
that thought frightens you. in the time you have known prince zagreus, you have grown to... care for him. in a way that you have never cared for anyone before. and to lose something so fragile and precious as this due to the hands of a beast was horrific. it made you feel cursed, like all good things in your life was meant to die.
you shut your eyes, clutching the ineffectual shawl tighter around your shoulders, as myroclus snuffled at the side of your head. he whinnied piteously, frightened by the night’s events and just as tired. “i know.” you scratch the underside of his chin, the only cover from the falling snow being a tree that arced overhead. “but what could we do?” helpless are the words and no answer arrives, the winter swallowing all manner of noise.
it was strange being out of the perpetual summer of lady persephone’s lands, the feeling being akin to a prey. exposed, fearful, in danger. white blanketed the ground, over barren trees and bushes. in your haste to escape, you knew that you did not have the means to survive
but i could help. you scream loudly, myroclus tossing his head so violently that zagreus nearly rolls off of his back. oh! tame your beast, little one. i am just a lone helper, a benevolent samaritan in these wild woods. the voice speaks in beguiling rasps, rumbling deep within your mind.
you leap to your feet, arms straining with the effort to heft the prince’s blade, the edges gleaming wickedly - hungering for the blood you cannot muster to give.
“oh, put that away.” in the space between a blink and the next, a hunched, shawled figure stood at the end of the natural path, a gnarled cane held in weathered. “i mean you no harm.”
in hesitation, the blade lowers slightly, but you hold fast. “who are you?” you demand aggressively, eyes narrowed in slits, features arranged in the harshest expression you could muster. “speak your name before I... before I use this blade.”
the figure does not move, does not speak. And it is long moments that leave you and myroclus uneasy enough to tense when they laugh loudly. lifting a hand, they pull the hood back and spools of white, shimmering hair falls onto the snow. but the thing that grabbed your attention the most was the milky-whiteness of their eyes, unblinking and unseeing. your grip on the hilt of the whispering blade tightens slightly. “fear not, young one. i bring you and your god prince no harm. i can help. he is... poisoned is he not?”
“how do you know---?!” the query clamps itself behind your teeth, hard enough that your jaw aches. but if they could help zagreus... your arm lowers, the tip of the blade embedding itself in the snow, red metal stark against white. “--- please. please help him. i’ll give you anything.”
the figure seems to smile benevolently at you; however, there was a sense of danger that instantly makes you wary. feeling as though you had made a promise for something you did not understand. “i see. come, to my home.” they turn, a shuffling movement made more apparent in the stillness of the air. you look up at myroclus who whinnies softly in unease.
yeah, strangers in the woods rarely was a good thing.
but one look at zagreus, pale and fire-feet flickering weakly, was enough for you to steel your nerves.
the path to the stranger’s house was not a long one; however, it does make you wary. a wooden house, constructed crudely with all matter of material ranging from branches to furs or pieces of trash carelessly left behind by travellers. it stunk of magic. not quite like the gods, but you have been around magic enough to have a sense of it, tugging at your soul, whispering coyly in the back of your mind (let us in, play with us, know us).
they opened the door and gestured for you to come in, prompting you to slide zagreus from myroclus’ back and toss his arm over your shoulder. gods, he was far heavier than you anticipated, nearly buckling under the weight of his bulk. you take a moment to study the small living space. jars filed with herbs lined the shelves, animal skins serving to be rugs on the floor and a fireplace with a cauldron bubbling at the back.
you deposit him into the cot that they had directed you. gently, as though he were a slumbering child. fingers brush over midnight black hair, fingers like branches, and it’s instinct that your own hand darts out to curl around the stranger’s wrist - eyes glinting with caution. “what will you do?”
to their credit, the stranger does not balk at the look you give them. “take his temperature, figure out which biles to use and construct an antidote.” they pull their hand away from your grasp, laying a hand over zagreus’ sweating forehead, ho-humming long enough to make you antsy. “ah, i know what this is.” their voice was dark, “satyr poison. you had a run-in with them. i thought they lingered in the underworld?”
the question was innocent enough, but as someone who was well-aware that association with gods was dangerous enough, you shrug slightly. “i do not know. i... i was attacked by them and he came to rescue me.” that was the only information you were willing to give, without damning the both of you. and besides, it wasn’t lying - zagreus did rescue you and you were attacked by them.
semantics, really.
“what is your name?” you ask, swiftly to change the subject, but out of curiousity as well.
the figure hums once more before producing a knife. “he is running hot. this suggests an imbalance of too much bad blood. and you may call me anura.” you watch like a hawk as anura slices zagreus’ skin open, holding a bowl underneath to catch the blood.
anura. what a strange name. something that you haven’t heard before and something that rolls off of your tongue weirdly. however, you do not make a fuss about their origins, they can keep their secrets if they wished (gods know that they most likely had many...)
even if you had seen his blood, it was disconcerting to see such a human red. didn’t gods bleed ichor? did gods bleed at all?
anura takes the bowl away and wraps it around the cut tightly, sealing the exit wound. they place wet clothes on exposed skin, staving off the fever and soaking up all the sweat that had accumulated, soaking the cot below. “is he going to be ok?” you ask desperately, too left in the dark to know anything, and holding his hand gently.
they shuffle towards the cauldron and dump the blood within whatever contents was already inside, muttering to themself in a low, rasping croon. the hairs on the back of your neck raise in abject alarm, air stilling, the scent of metal in the air, and oh gods ----- was this... was this witchcraft?
anura chanted, raising their arms and dumping herbs into the strange mixture, stirring with a long spoon, the flames flickering green (unnatural!). the wind outside roared and howled, snow battering the small hut, shrieking louder and louder until it falls silent.
still. quiet. enough that she could hear the panicked huffing of myroclus outside, waiting faithfully.
“here. let him drink this.” suddenly, a bowl of a foul-smelling concoction was thrust under your nose, causing you to lurch back.
“what’s inside?!”
anura stares at you - milky eyes holding an intensity that makes you balk. “do you wish for him to heal?”
without question, without any doubt. you take the bowl, looking away. if you were going to doom zagreus, at least let it be done by your own hands - you suspect that lord thanatos would be at your doorstep then. zagreus’ head is lifted slightly, the bowl placed at his lips where you tip the contents carefully into his mouth, watching as his throat bobs with every swallow. it’s not long before the bowl is empty and the pain on his features ease into something more pleasant.
like he was having pleasant sleep.
anura takes the bowl, placing it onto the nearby table, turning to you with an unreadable look. “payment.”
you gently place zagreus’ head back onto the cot and wipe your hands on your chiton. “ah, yes. how much? i have drachmas in my pouch---” as you pass anura, their hand shoots out as fast as a striking viper, curling around your wrist with a strength that surprises you.
“i have no use for money,” they spit out, derisive, nails digging into the tender meat of your wrist. “i want something more. something that you cannot part without. a piece of your heart.” their voice shudders, deepening, lifting, and you realize - oh gods, they’re not human, they’re not human, they’re not human.
your body trembles like a leaf in the throes of a windstorm, heart hammering in your chest. “-- i don’t... i don’t u-understand.”
“something precious, something fond.” blood wells up from where you are held onto. not letting go even as you cry out.
“i have something!” and it makes your heart ache, tears springing to your eyes at the enormity of what you were going to do. anura lets go of your hand, just so that you can fish out the box that held the seed to sapeio’s tree, tears streaming down your face - offering it to anura.
greed overcame anura’s features, tongue licking over lips, as they snatched the box from your hands. “oh, oh. this is. this is wonderful. all i’ve ever wanted. memory, love, grief.” their eyes roll wildly around in their sockets. “debt repaid, your debt is repaid.”
they hobble over to the table, opening the box and unfurled the white clothe that held the seed; you look away, sobs leaving your mouth as you curl zagreus’ arm over your shoulders, dragging him outside, ignoring the witch muttering to themself.
it was for him. (unfortunately). for him.
-----
zagreus wakes up, feeling both hot and cold, stifled underneath the sheets that he was swaddled in. but his only solace was the cool cloth that mopped up the sweat that beaded on his forehead. he shifts in place, sighing slightly before cracking his eyes open to see your face hovering over his. “... urgh, what happened?” he sits up, aided by you, and promptly propped against pillows.
“you were poisoned by one of those satyrs.” you say, wringing the cloth over a bowl, stained pink from blood. “we’re in a nearby town, safe. i got us an inn for two nights.”
his body ached. as though he had battled through the underworld once more. zagreus felt delirious, only remembering bits and pieces after he was poisoned. you crying, you wielding his blade, some strange figure cutting him. before he started feeling better. zagreus grasped his head, “i.. don’t remember much. how did you heal me?”
you don’t look at him, careful to avoid his gaze. the thought of giving up a piece of sapeio made you inconsolable enough to cry yourself hoarse until you passed out for the night. “i asked for help.” you hear yourself say. “they healed you.”
“oh. oh. sweet... ” you don’t realize you’re crying until zagreus, kind, sweet, zagreus reaches out and pulls you into a hug. “darling, what happened?” you press your face against his shoulder, sobbing and clutching him tightly. he pets your hair, almost-helpless in the way he does it, protective in the way he does it.
you explain anura, how terrified you felt seeing him fall, and most of all, how you had to give up sapeio’s seed as payment. you wrap your arms around him, as tight as you could - attempting to mold your shape against his.
“i’m sorry...” he murmurs softly, guilt saturating his tone. “i know how much sapeio meant to you.”
nonetheless, even in your grief, you can tell that he was regretting on being saved. you lift yourself up on shaky arms, glaring down at him with a splotchy face. “n-no! it’s not your fault! i--- i’ll miss... having it. but i don’t regret saving you.” you point at him fiercely, attempting to cement the fact that even if it was hard to not have the comfort of knowing that something of sapeio was still there, you wouldn’t change your decision “i would’ve saved you. in any lifetime. i would’ve chosen you.”
he stares back at you with mismatched eyes, stunned at your admission. and you flush, extracting yourself from his arms. or at least, attempting to. “wh---”
“please. stay with me.” zagreus sounded weak, face flushed slightly. he shuffles on the cot, turning on his side to allow for you to have enough space to lay in. “i... i don’t think i can sleep alone tonight.”
considering that you were planning to sleep on the floor, this wasn’t too bad of a tradeoff. you nod slightly, settling in the place that he indicated, holding back your flinches at the way he made sure the sheet went over you and the arm curled around your waist gently.
the night was already arriving and sleep lingered at the back of your eyes. “we have to warn the town of the satyrs tomorrow.” you yawn loudly.
zagreus laughs slightly, breath brushing the back of your neck. “of course. not lets sleep.”
it takes a long time before you do.

( jeon jungkook, cismale ) hey ! have you seen IAN MOON around ? HE works as a SKI INSTRUCTOR (KID) at big bear resort, but they must be off their shift by now. well, if you do see them can you let me know ? they’re 22 years old & they’ve been working here for THREE MONTHS. they tend to be +SPONTANEOUS & +CHARISMATIC, but can also be -MANIPULATIVE & -DESTRUCTIVE. the other employees have labeled them THE REVELLER. thanks a lot !    ( charcoal-stained fingertips, cat hair on dark hoodies, frowning lips around an e-cigarette , distressed pokemon cards & the gleam of a new mercedes benz under street lights. )

THE PAST, a brief summary:
ian was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.    as soon as he could make demands,    he got everything he wanted whenever he asked for it and then more.    i wish i could sum up his childhood in those sentences alone,    but the bitter reality of his early youth was that he was a lonely kid.    his mother was a rather young trophy wife who married into his father’s family and became pregnant to tie herself into the family’s empire and his father was a ceo of a real estate company who only cared about making ian a suitable heir to the title.   he was allowed too much freedom from the start–   his dad only involved himself in ian’s life when it came to academics and his mom…   well,   his mom lazed around the house enough for ian to see her every few days or so.
he rebelled around his first years of university in seoul.   he was studying business to follow the path that was set for him when all of the pressure that had been building up finally made him SNAP.   ian ruined what little relationship he had left with his father and decided to leave home altogether after making a massive mess he couldn’t fix.    with a subsequent agreement he made with his mom,    he got to choose where to live,    if to study right away,    and what to do for the time being with a bank account full of funds.    now THAT’S the ian living and working in big bear village you know  !
ADDITIONAL HEADCANONS:
his job !    ian works as a ski instructor for kids.   back when he was a child himself,    he and his family would often go on vacations and that frequently included leaving korea to go play in mountains of snow.   ian is really good at skiing because it was one of those skills that he worked his naive ass off to be wonderful at so his parents could have something to brag about.   besides choosing it because he’s good at it,   though,   ian also enjoys really active atmospheres in general.   he likes being kept busy and interacting with others and he likes being out in the cold like a mama duck since he ended up getting assigned to teach children how to skii.   he quickly warmed up to the job and he has a ton of fun working with kids which is hard to believe considering how generally insufferable ian is in any other setting.
mimi !    a short one but definitely worth mentioning because if i don’t mention her,   he will.   mimi is ian’s    (   and roman’s   )   beloved cat,   he would literally die for her.   she began living with them in their chaotic apartment after ian rescued her tiny kitten self and took her home.   she is extremely spoiled by him even though she herself is lowkey feral.
postive habits !    so ian is truly a man of habit.   the pros are that some of his habits are really,    really good...   and the cons,   of course,   is the flipside that his negative habits are rather...    very bad and annoying.   but these are the good ones !!   it seems like he doesn’t really notice it,   but he makes an active effort to treat his friends because he doesn’t really know how to express affection unless it’s within an inappropriate joke or comment.   he’s quite loose with his expensive belongings and will quietly pay for his friend’s drinks throughout the night.  he works out a lot,   he would be a gym rat if he wasn’t busy being a disaster.   he makes up for all of the alcohol he drinks by eating really healthy    (   unless he’s high or,   again,   drunk and needs oily unhealthy food or else he’ll die   )   and keeping up with workout routines !    i don’t recommend having him as a gym buddy because he’ll show up at your doorstep at four am with protein shakes and a really shitty workout playlist.    he is very into art !!   his favorite medium is charcoal and he keeps his drawings / occasional paintings very greyscale.   he can be seen sketching the mountains during his free time like a true buffering romantic,   and his future plans include going to art school !!   he’s real organized with his general space n etc !    a tidy boy.
negative habits !    alright,    so ian has a lot of these.   perhaps the biggest one is that he doesn’t accept criticism on his character even though he cares about how he’s perceived which is really very annoying for many people who know him.   he’s...   how u say...    irritating.    he never,   ever takes anything seriously and he’s always making a dumb joke,   so he has this persona of being a charming flirty pretty boy who sleeps around like a god taken straight out of greek mythology.   in other words,   he’s 100% a fuckboy.   the reason this is a bad habit is that ian is actually really smart and reliable but he wears 50 coats of shallow asshole that cover that up.    it’s his thing.    he thinks it protects him or whatever.   he can b...    manipulative...   he’s just really good at lying and will never hesitate to do it.   he is BAD at relationships !!    he treats them as things to pass the time or avoids them altogether in lieu of just getting the fun part of people and honestly...    it’s lowkey evil...   he’ll string people along and then blame them for getting attached ?    of course he goes on to feel very empty !!    because he does this stupid impulsive shit !! all the time !!    but anyway ian smokes e-cigarettes and he’s always got a fancy one in his pocket that he WILL use during any free outdoor time that he has.    he likes 2 party a lot and make bad choices while he’s drunk and then do that over and over and over again fhdisufh.   that’s the reveler for u babey !!
misc headcanons !    ian is a huge weeb and loves video games.   he plays all big three gaming consoles + PC and u BET he hosts super smash bros hangouts w/ snacks and weed and everything u need basically every weekend when there’s not already a party goin’ on.   tbh in general ian rlly likes to start parties up like he’ll b the first to text ‘ aye where the party at ’    all the time and there’s no party invite he’ll say no to.    /    he’ll randomly start sketching u if ur sitting across from him n there’s a pen in his hand.    /    he wears absolutely no colors like this boy rlly only owns dark or pure white clothes.   /    he has only 1 tat:    a palm-sized heart on the side of his right hip.   ton of ear piercings tho !!   /    nnnn....    i’ll leave this lil section at that fr now !!
to sum it up,   ian is a mix between a charming socialite boy and a messy fuckboy.

Out In the Cold
When visiting Dirk's house during a winter storm, both Lloyd and Colette find themselves stuck there in the meantime, unable to go back to their city apartment. But staying a few days out in the winter countryside might not be so bad.
Fandom: Tales of Symphonia Characters/Pairings: Lloyd Irving/Colette Brunel, Dirk, Noishe Rating: G Mirror Links: AO3 Notes: For @colloydweek Day 5: Snow. Based off a modern AU with @frayed-symphony!
Lloyd turned the key in the ignition over and over again, but no matter how much willpower he used, the truck just wouldn’t start.
“Man…” He laid back against the seat and sighed. The cold mist of his breath formed in the air before him, all while he watched the falling snow slowly bury the windshield. Guess they were staying over again.
“Lloyd, don’t force it.” Dirk tapped against the half-open car door with the edge of his knuckles. How his dad could walk around in sub-freezing temperatures in just his casual clothes, Lloyd had never figured out. He was garbed in basically two of his jackets himself, the interior of the truck barely giving him much warmth. “The engine’s not gonna work in this weather.”
“Gaah, but if I can just…” Lloyd reached for the key again, the truck sputtering and gurgling each and every time he turned it. “If I can just turn it on and let it warm up a little!”
“That doesn’t actually do anything, you know.”
“What? Yes it does!” Lloyd turned the key an extra time to prove his point. The truck then gave a bit of violent-sounding cough that made Lloyd jump. “Uh, never mind.”
Though a bit worried that his son would somehow break his vehicle, he only chuckled. With each passing moment, his thick beard caught more and more snowflakes, flecking it with specks of white. Even through all his frustration, Lloyd mused how his dad could pass off as Santa Claus with the right clothes and laugh. He’d look just like the guy that played as Santa when he was younger, the one who would come to the house when Genis would stay over and Raine would watch them, and when Dirk always had a last-minute commission to finish up so he couldn’t be around for the presents and… wait a second.
Dirk bellowed a laugh that also sounded really familiar suddenly, but then opened the car door wider, letting in the biting wind. “Come on, I can check on the engine. Why don’t you go to Colette in the meantime? Give her something to do on a snowy day.”
“U-um, yeah. You’re right.” Lloyd unconsciously huddled in his double jackets as he got out of the truck. He was immediately up to his lower calves in the snow, his boots saving him from his socks getting soaked. Winter out here was always brutal. His dad was, meanwhile, waist deep in it, and of course didn’t seem to be bothered.
The house was already covered in white wherever it could reach, his balcony drenched in snow, hopefully not too much that it would break. He’d have to remember not to go up there and slip again… Opening the front door with a bit of difficulty (already the lock was freezing up!), he was met with a wave of heat from the fireplace in the further living room. He was about to shrug off his jackets when he heard a happy whuff from the side.
“Noishe!” he greeted, thankful to put his freezing hands against the dog’s thick and fluffy fur. But where there was a dog, there should have been… “Uh, where’s Colette?” Last time, she had been seated at the dinner table by the fireplace.
Had she gone upstairs? Or to the other room? But then Noishe circled around him, snout pointed towards the door where Lloyd just came in through. “She’s outside?”
Whether Noishe could understand was up for debate, but he answered Lloyd with another whuff.
“Agh, but it’s so cold!” Lloyd was a little put out that he would already be leaving the warmth of the home. But if Colette had gone, he had to follow. Hopefully she hadn’t gone far… but where would she go? There was one place, maybe –
A soft buzzing in his pants pocket. Lloyd reached for his phone, the small flip model very scuffed all around its edges. Someday he’d get a new one, maybe. Opening it up, he already knew who the text was from.
Hi, Lloyd! ^_^ Sorry for leaving so suddenly… But I wanted to explore! I’m waiting for you at our favorite place!’ This was then followed by a string of heart emojis, a few stars, and some doggy paw pads, too. Lloyd was always astounded at the cuteness of her texts.
He heard a soft sound of something brewing in the kitchen next to him, a familiar smell that was comforting and already gave him ideas.
Well, at least he wouldn’t go to her empty-handed.
----
He found Colette underneath one of the tall, overarching trees, just by the path within the woods. Out before her, there was a lake, its surface frozen, reflecting the sun brighter than ever before.
It hadn’t taken long to find her, Lloyd already seeing her deep footsteps on the pathway, and a few places where the snow was disturbed the most – a sign of her tripping.
Rushing up to her, his breath coming out in puffs in the air, he saw that she had her arms spread out in the snows, looking straight above.
“…Uh, you okay?” he called out, hoping that Colette hadn’t tripped onto the deep snowbanks here and couldn’t get up. Because if it hadn’t been for the flash of red from one of his spare jackets that she wore as he walked by, just peeking at the edge of sunken snow, he might have missed her completely.
At his words, a head streaked with snow-covered blonde hair raised up. She turned to him, her cheeks red from the cold, probably so numb – but it didn’t stem down her smile.
“I’m good!” she told him. “I was just waiting for you until we were ready to go.”
“Yeah, but… out here? It’s freezing!” And with that, he walked up to her, handing her another jacket that was identical to the one she wore, and the ones he wore, too! He owned a few copies of the same set, but that meant he had plenty to give to Colette when she wanted some. “Here, I don’t think just one is enough.”
She took the jacket gratefully, decked out with several silver buttons, the collar decorated with white strips sewn into the seam. She always looked so happy when she gave him his things to wear. “Oh yeah, and I made sure it’s clean, too!” He really had to stop giving her the ones he was just wearing…
But that wasn’t all! “Here!” he said as he handed her one of the bright red thermostats he carried, grinning. “It’s hot coffee.”
Colette took the thermostat in gloved hands, their color a bright fuzzy pink with those little pom poms stitched to the side of them. She even had a matching scarf to go with it, which Lloyd thought was pretty handy. “Thanks, Lloyd!” Though as she held it, she paused. “Hm, or is it cold?”
“Hey, I made sure it was hot this time!”
“Hehe, I’m just teasing you!” She settled on the snows, not minding at all that it covered up to her knees. “Is the truck okay?”
“Nah, the engine’s all messed up. Or the battery or… something.” Lloyd didn’t really know much about cars. “I think we’re going to have to stay for the night again.”
Colette didn’t look at all disappointed. “That happens a lot whenever we visit your dad, doesn’t it?”
“You know, it does! I wonder if he has something to do with it…” Dirk always liked having them over so maybe… but then again he doubted his dad could suddenly control the weather. “I didn’t think the snow would be this bad though. Sorry.”
She shook her head. “That’s okay! It’s… I like the winter here. In the city, the snow always gets all dirty with the cars. And then they clean it up the next day before you can do anything in it.” She said this while putting on the second jacket, brushing out the snow from her hair.
Lloyd raised an eyebrow. “What were you doing just now anyway?”
Unfastening the top of the thermostat, Colette took a careful sip of the coffee. She closed her eyes as she did so, and then lowered the thermostat from her chin to look at Lloyd with a wide smile. “Making a snow angel!”
That was the cutest thing he ever heard. He could only grin and laugh, the cold suddenly seeming not so much of a problem anymore. “You’re such a dork.”
By then, he was seated next to her on the snowbanks, overlooking the lake with its frozen sheen. They were close enough for their shoulders to touch, eager to get any warmth they could. “Did Noishe not want to come?” Colette asked.
“Nah, he’s scared of the cold. Don’t ask me how though.” Lloyd took a sip from his own thermostat, pleased to know that the coffee was actually hot! He had worried for a moment there. “Hey, how come you went out all the way here?” It wasn’t a long walk, but with the heavy snow that blanketed both sight and sound, the path wasn’t the easiest to tread anymore.
Colette fiddled with one of the jacket buttons on the side, it still being so big on her, draping her shoulders like a cape, but enough to keep her warm. “I wanted to see if we could swim in the lake again,” she said with a shy smile.
“Wh- But it’s freezing!” He felt like he said this before. “And, also, the lake is actually frozen.”
“Yeah, and it’s so pretty looking too. Maybe we can ice skate on it!”
“I think the ice is kinda fragile…”
Colette looked down at her huddled knees. Both had really gotten close to the other, the snowflakes still drifting over them. Lloyd felt them on his cheeks, on his hand that had reached out for Colette’s, feeling her warmth even through their gloved hands - her yarn-stitched mittens against his thick sports gloves.
“It’s like our special place now, isn’t it?” she said. “We’ve come over here every time we visited.”
Lloyd gripped her hand tight, remembering the first day out in the early summer sun, Noishe paddling in the lake and getting their clothes wet with a furious shaking out of his fur. “Yeah… I like it better though when it’s sunny.”
Colette pouted a little. “The snow is nice… We can do other fun things that we can’t do back home!”
“Huh? Like what?” Living out in their city apartment, he supposed it wasn’t easy to have the usual snow fun like snowball fights and snow angels. Maybe that was what she wanted? “If you wanted to play snowball, just know I’m the best at it!”
But before he could keep gloating, she leaned into him for a kiss.
The tip of her nose brushed against his own as she kissed him, cold from the chilly air. It contrasted with the heat of her lips over his, a hint of her breath leaving into the air in the form of already dissipating mist. He kissed her back just as much, the action natural, right and so very warm. There wasn’t much sound from the woods, the snow muffling most of it, but he could hear the soft gasp she gave when she kissed him, and the pulse of his own heart in his ears.
When she pulled away, Lloyd stared at her with a bit of confusion. “…Can’t we do that anytime?” he asked. Not that he didn’t mind it…
“Hm, maybe,” she said, but then her smile turned into a grin. “But not this!” Suddenly an avalanche of snow from Colette’s hands showered onto the top of his head. She must have gathered that up during the kiss.
“C-c-cold!” He flinched from the sudden chill, where bits of the compacted snow slid into the back of his jacket. Colette laughed at his ordeal, which only sparked a competitiveness that overtook him suddenly. “I have to pay you back, you know!” And with maybe too much enthusiasm, he gently tackled her to the soft snows, getting it everywhere on them. Both thermostats were thrown to the ground, the coffee now indeed, getting quite cold.
“Ah! Lloyd!” she protested, but had already wrapped her arms around him as they embraced in the snow.
One day, they’d get to curl up together on the couch back at their apartment, draped in multiple blankets and sipping hot chocolate. But Colette was right though, they probably wouldn’t be able to do these fun things except for right here, so they might as well make the most of it.

The Sensation of Snow (Chapter 1)
Secret Santa gift server event hosted by @dovesandsparrows . I had a lot of fun writing this (especially since I haven’t been able to write for a longgg time ;u;)
Enjoy!
Ship: Gency Content: Minor fluff and Slice of life Rating: General
Winter with a Witch
Snow. It was not an uncommon sight. He had seen it plenty of times before. It was both his best friend and his greatest admirer. In those silent nights when he stalked his next target, it gave him cover that went beyond any magic he could conjure. It came down heavily, obscuring vision as well as any fog. It made humans shiver and wrap themselves up, lowering their mobility and vision while still dulling their senses.
It was a beautiful white canvas where every kill he made would paint a picture. A painting made with sweat and blood. Well, it was too cold to sweat all that much. A figure of speech then, if you will. The blood part, well that was true. The graceful curves and elegant strokes of red upon the white snow. All made with precision yet without any intention. A cut meant to kill, using life as inspiration for the art it creates.
This year, it was no different. It still fell when everyone expected and would continue to do so until spring came much later. People would huddle together in their homes and Genji would continue to do his work. That was what he was used to in any case. The life of a demon was not so sophisticated. Unchanging and yet adaptive was what kept him alive. He did his job and stayed alive. The season, time of the year, and human traditions meant nothing to him.
At least, not until this year. In many ways, he was the same. A cold and calculating Oni, sly and merciless. But this year, he had mercy. More specifically, the witch that had summoned him. It had been almost a year now. She had summoned him during the new year, surprising the both of them.
What she had wanted was a bodyguard as the town she lived in found itself in a state of unrest. Sooner or later, she reasoned that the citizens would turn on her and blame her for some event or another. She was not publicly known as a witch of course, but people have accused others of witchcraft with much less evidence.
And so, she made a deal with him. Her soul was on the line, at least with the rate things were going. He was a professional assassin, with each contract worthy of at least a person’s soul. Being tied down with a single person for this long, even if it meant he did not need to worry about his own life as much, was certainly strange and necessitated a second thought about the price for his service. At the very least, he deserved a bit more compensation than her soul.
Today, that compensation came in the form of a warm cup of hot chocolate. He was never a fan of sweet things but he could hardly refuse any longer. For the longest time, he ignored the cup left on the table, the cup that the young woman would inevitable sigh at and drank cold, hardly delectable in that state. Eventually, he spared her the pain, figuring that he may as well save her from her own foolishness. Being tasked with ensuring her well-being hardly counted for her happiness and health, but watching her doing the same thing every day and expecting a different result … Well, he wanted to spare her from thinking that she was insane, at the very least.
“Genji, could you get the kettle? I’m transcribing something at the moment, my apologies” came the sweet voice from the nearby room.
Magic hardly worked on him. There were a few that could still affect him and hurt him, all of which he had learned about and ensured that he would never be caught by. Charm was one of them, a powerful magic that most pushed aside. It was a power that could corrupt the thoughts and desires of any person in the world, turning them against their closest allies with false trust and emotions. Even a sea of fire could not compare to the power of charisma and seduction in the right hand.
Mercy’s voice, it reminded him of that. Yet he knew she was not using magic. She was hardly ever using magic. If anything, she shouldn’t even be considered a witch. Yes, she knew how to use magic and did so from time to time. But she did not use it as a witch would. The house did not clean itself and the fire sprung from natural logs. Clothes on the drying lines did not flee from sudden rain showers and water kettles do not pour themselves into glasses of cocoa powder.
She could do amazing things, he had seen it many times. She could concoct potions and enchant them with potent magic able to cure fatal diseases. She could patch up scar-bearing wounds and mask all signs of her magic with another layer of magic that made the wound seem to recover naturally with time. He had seen her bring small animals back to life, with little effort even.
Mercy was strange, in every sense of the word. Perhaps that was why she was so tolerable in this wooden cabin that he fixed slowly day by day to stop the annoying squeaks in the ceiling. Perhaps that was why he did not mind pouring the water from the kettle for her, into the matching cups that she had bought and constantly fixed with magic instead of purchasing new ones upon breaking. He hardly understood humans and he could not care to do so. But her …
He had told her his real name, though his demeanor and personality made it easy for her to assume that he used the alias of the famous Japanese novel character. The best deception is when there is no deception at all. Names were important, especially to witches and demons. To lose it would mean certain death, at least in the most docile of cases. There were worse things that could happen, though Genji was not interested in hearing them nor would he be willing to add to those stories. As such, he did not question her choice of alias.
That being said, there was … something about her calling him by his birth name that made her requests more tolerable. He had been insufferable at first, criticizing her living conditions, lack of motivation to use magic, her appearance despite being a witch, and everything in between as he found himself bored without anything to do. He had no peers here, no one to chat with or flirt with. In the demon world, he was popular enough to warrant his reference to that in the Tale of Genji. But here, he was stuck with her. Without any signs of danger ever approaching and without anything ever happening.
And yet, here he was. There were ways he could escape the contract. In fact, something told him that she would even allow him to leave if he really wanted to. Yet, he didn’t. He began to find comfort in the house that he slowly fixed up, all without her permission and knowledge. He began to become accustomed to sitting in the house in his human form, simply watching the young witch go through her daily tasks and studies. He saw reason behind her limited usage of magic and even occasionally offered advice about certain magic qualities that she was experimenting with.
He even came to see the beauty in her simple outfit and hairstyle, both functional for her needs and yet still aesthetically pleasing. He had no need for humans, at least not in a sexual way. Some demons preferred it over other demons, reminiscent of their own time of being human. He had seen enough humans sacrificing their soul for a taste of pleasure that a demon can bring, a price that they seemed more than happy to pay over and over again if they could. Hell, some even became a demon for that reason alone.
As for Genji, he did not become a demon to just engage in carnal activities. Yes, he did. It was as wonderful as everyone said it would be. But he was not there for that reason. Neither did he crave the nostalgia of the taste of a human. Neither of his lives had meaning. Neither of his lives made him want to live in them, to make memories in them. As such, he did not care for either case in erotic manners, other than a past-time in the demon world.
As such, it was hard for him to comprehend what exactly was so compelling about her. He did not look at her with lust and he was long past being apprehensive and wary of her. He knew her, yet he did not. She was someone that was willing to share everything except her name with him, yet he knew nothing about who she really was.
After finishing his cup of hot chocolate, setting Mercy’s cup next to where she was working, Genji washed the cup and returned by her side quietly, looking over her shoulder at the text she was writing. Some were letters to acquaintances, some were from the townspeople, and others were inquiries and books about some subject or another. He simply stood there in silence, letting her work. When he finally spoke, it startled her for more than one reason.
“Would it be a problem if I were to go for a walk?”
Mercy put her feather down, turning to face him with her lips slightly agape as she struggled for a moment to compose her thoughts. It was the first time he had initiated a conversation with her since their first meeting. Moreover, she did not know how long he had been there. Most importantly, he was asking to leave for some reason or another. A strange request with no explanation and no benefit for her.
“Of course. I’ll be here awaiting your return” was her response with a sweet smile. With a nod, Genji left the house, the door shutting behind him and hiding her perplexed expression from him as he shifted into his demon shade, flitting between the shadows of the trees quickly through the forest. She was so strange, so trusting. So sweet and so kind. If she had not been a witch, she would have probably been a princess and a queen. If she had not been a witch, she would have never needed his protection. If she had just chosen to move to another town, she would never have a reason to meet him.
Yet there they were, two people alone in the forest mid-December. A witch and a demon, living a peaceful daily life that would make others fear for their lives. A demon with a million ways to kill a man and a witch with enough magic to bring ruins to a city or raise one from the ground. A fearsome force indeed should they decide to act. Yet there they were, happily enjoying their time alone in the forest. A quiet researcher and her watchful audience.
Before long, he had returned. Mercy looked him over and greeted him with a smile, looking down to see the small bag of groceries, with a major item being cocoa powder. She stood up to walk over, only to be stopped by his hand silently showing her shopping list and her gold pouch.
“You know, you ought to hide this better.”
Mercy raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms with a frown, “And you ought to know better than to take it.”
Alas, she was not truly mad at him it would seem. She gave him a soft smile and took the bag from him, setting it on the table and going to organize the items he had brought home. He simply watched silently, opting to not interfere any further.
“Would you like another cup of hot chocolate, Genji?”
Only then did he reply with a small nod. He could hardly turn down an offer so sweet.

sorry if this is weird and random but do u know any good books with lesbian characters? u just seem like the type of person who would
First of all, can I just say I’m thrilled that i give off that impression? Clearly, I’m doing something right. Second, yes! I do! Not as many as I’d like, but still (also, I’m including bi girls because it does widen the the selection a little.)
Adaption by Malinda Lo
Reese can’t remember anything from the time between the accident and the day she woke up almost a month later. She only knows one thing: She’s different now.
Across North America, flocks of birds hurl themselves into airplanes, causing at least a dozen to crash. Thousands of people die. Fearing terrorism, the United States government grounds all flights, and millions of travelers are stranded.
Reese and her debate team partner and longtime crush David are in Arizona when it happens. Everyone knows the world will never be the same. On their drive home to San Francisco, along a stretch of empty highway at night in the middle of Nevada, a bird flies into their headlights. The car flips over. When they wake up in a military hospital, the doctor won’t tell them what happened, where they are—or how they’ve been miraculously healed.
Things become even stranger when Reese returns home. San Francisco feels like a different place with police enforcing curfew, hazmat teams collecting dead birds, and a strange presence that seems to be following her. When Reese unexpectedly collides with the beautiful Amber Gray, her search for the truth is forced in an entirely new direction—and threatens to expose a vast global conspiracy that the government has worked for decades to keep secret.
they’re sci-fi YA novels with a bi main character and they’re really fun!! There is a love triangle, but it’s resolved super well in the sequel, Inheritance. I promise even if you hate love triangles (I do) just stick it. I don’t want to spoil anything but like… trust me.
The Summer I Wasn’t Me by Jessica Verdi
She never meant for her mom to find out. And now she’s afraid that what’s left of her family is going to fall apart for good.
Lexi knows she can fix everything. She can change. She can learn to like boys. New Horizons summer camp has promised to transform her life, and there’s nothing she wants more than to start over.
But sometimes love has its own path…
This is just about the only realistic fiction/coming out story on here— I’m usually not a huge fan. But I read this when I was younger and first coming to terms with my sexuality so it gets a spot.
Ash by Malinda Lo
In the wake of her father’s death, Ash is left at the mercy of her cruel stepmother. Consumed with grief, her only joy comes by the light of the dying hearth fire, rereading the fairy tales her mother once told her. In her dreams, someday the fairies will steal her away, as they are said to do. When she meets the dark and dangerous fairy Sidhean, she believes that her wish may be granted.
The day that Ash meets Kaisa, the King’s Huntress, her heart begins to change. Instead of chasing fairies, Ash learns to hunt with Kaisa. Though their friendship is as delicate as a new bloom, it reawakens Ash’s capacity for love-and her desire to live. But Sidhean has already claimed Ash for his own, and she must make a choice between fairy tale dreams and true love.
Entrancing, empowering, and romantic, Ash is about the connection between life and love, and solitude and death, where transformation can come from even the deepest grief.
Have you ever wondered what Cinderella would be like if it were gay and had proper faeries? Wonder no more; Ash is the book for you! Seriously though, Lo is a godsend when it comes to queer si-fi/fantasy YA fiction. She has a couple more books that I haven’t read yet but look just as good.
And I Darken by Kiersten White
No one expects a princess to be brutal. And Lada Dragwlya likes it that way. Ever since she and her gentle younger brother, Radu, were wrenched from their homeland of Wallachia and abandoned by their father to be raised in the Ottoman courts, Lada has known that being ruthless is the key to survival. She and Radu are doomed to act as pawns in a vicious game, an unseen sword hovering over their every move. For the lineage that makes them special also makes them targets.
Lada despises the Ottomans and bides her time, planning her vengeance for the day when she can return to Wallachia and claim her birthright. Radu longs only for a place where he feels safe. And when they meet Mehmed, the defiant and lonely son of the sultan, Radu feels that he’s made a true friend—and Lada wonders if she’s finally found someone worthy of her passion.
But Mehmed is heir to the very empire that Lada has sworn to fight against—and that Radu now considers home. Together, Lada, Radu, and Mehmed form a toxic triangle that strains the bonds of love and loyalty to the breaking point.
Okay so… technically, this one probably doesn’t really belong on this list but like. Guys. It’s so good. And there are lesbians, they’re just not quite main characters, and there’s other queer characters who have larger parts. It’s based on the stories of Vlad the Impaler, re-imagined if he were a woman. The pov characters are Lada (Vlad) and her brother Radu, and I love them, and their messy ass relationship, both so much. It’s all set in the royal court of the ottoman empire, in the midst of the crusades, and there’s so much about fascinating political-religious tensions, and it’s historical fiction (queer historical fiction!!! (queer historical fiction not set in Western Europe!!!)). The sequel is Now I Rise, and features the lesbians more heavily.
The Dark Wife by Sarah Diemer
Three thousand years ago, a god told a lie. Now, only a goddess can tell the truth. Persephone has everything a daughter of Zeus could want–except for freedom. She lives on the green earth with her mother, Demeter, growing up beneath the ever-watchful eyes of the gods and goddesses on Mount Olympus. But when Persephone meets the enigmatic Hades, she experiences something new: choice. Zeus calls Hades “lord” of the dead as a joke. In truth, Hades is the goddess of the underworld, and no friend of Zeus. She offers Persephone sanctuary in her land of the dead, so the young goddess may escape her Olympian destiny. But Persephone finds more than freedom in the underworld. She finds love, and herself.
Have you ever thought Ancient Greek Myths were too heterosexual? Probably not, but now they’re even gayer! A re-imagining of Hades and Persephone where Hades is a woman. It’s a really quick read with a great love story and I highly recommend it.
Girls Made of Snow and Glass by Melissa Bashardoust
At sixteen, Mina’s mother is dead, her magician father is vicious, and her silent heart has never beat with love for anyone—has never beat at all, in fact, but she’d always thought that fact normal. She never guessed that her father cut out her heart and replaced it with one of glass. When she moves to Whitespring Castle and sees its king for the first time, Mina forms a plan: win the king’s heart with her beauty, become queen, and finally know love. The only catch is that she’ll have to become a stepmother.Fifteen-year-old Lynet looks just like her late mother, and one day she discovers why: a magician created her out of snow in the dead queen’s image, at her father’s order. But despite being the dead queen made flesh, Lynet would rather be like her fierce and regal stepmother, Mina. She gets her wish when her father makes Lynet queen of the southern territories, displacing Mina. Now Mina is starting to look at Lynet with something like hatred, and Lynet must decide what to do—and who to be—to win back the only mother she’s ever known…or else defeat her once and for all.Entwining the stories of both Lynet and Mina in the past and present, Girls Made of Snow and Glass traces the relationship of two young women doomed to be rivals from the start. Only one can win all, while the other must lose everything—unless both can find a way to reshape themselves and their story.
I am a sucker for a good adaption of myths and fairy tales, and this is probably my favorite. The plot, the concept… it’s so original and just absolutely delicious. The writing was good, if not the best I’ve ever read, but the characters were wonderful. Also, I picked it up without knowing it was gay, so I was very pleasantly surprised. Oh, but don’t worry– Mina and Lynet aren’t together, there’s no weird stepmother/daughter shit going on. They have separate love stories.
Fingersmith by Sarah Waters
Sue Trinder is an orphan, left as an infant in the care of Mrs. Sucksby, a “baby farmer,” who raised her with unusual tenderness, as if Sue were her own. Mrs. Sucksby’s household, with its fussy babies calmed with doses of gin, also hosts a transient family of petty thieves—fingersmiths—for whom this house in the heart of a mean London slum is home.
One day, the most beloved thief of all arrives—Gentleman, an elegant con man, who carries with him an enticing proposition for Sue: If she wins a position as the maid to Maud Lilly, a naïve gentlewoman, and aids Gentleman in her seduction, then they will all share in Maud’s vast inheritance. Once the inheritance is secured, Maud will be disposed of—passed off as mad, and made to live out the rest of her days in a lunatic asylum.
With dreams of paying back the kindness of her adopted family, Sue agrees to the plan. Once in, however, Sue begins to pity her helpless mark and care for Maud Lilly in unexpected ways…But no one and nothing is as it seems in this Dickensian novel of thrills and reversals.
Betrayal! Unbetrayal! Mutual betrayal! Mutual unbetrayal! It’s a wild fucking ride y'all. It also gets pretty fucking dark, but there’s a happy… enough ending, because I don’t do shit without happy endings.
Every Day, David Levithan
Every day a different body. Every day a different life. Every day in love with the same girl. There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be. A has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live: Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere. It’s all fine until the morning that A wakes up in the body of Justin and meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which A has been living no longer apply. Because finally A has found someone he wants to be with—day in, day out, day after day.
Eh, I debated whether to put this on here. As you can see, it’s about a kid who wakes up in a different body every day– be it guy or girl. From what I recall, “A” themself doesn’t every assign a gender to themself, and the book is in first person from their perspective, but the Goodreads description does use he/him pronouns. I read it as a non-binary/genderfluid person who falls in love with a girl, and it’s a really good book, so. Take it or leave it, it’s up to you. On an unrelated note, I think there’s a movie coming out soon.
That’s all I can think of at the moment! Hope you find something you like.

And I will roar into the heavens that those who will raise a hand against me shall perish in the attempt. And I will roar into the heavens that I am a force to be reckoned with, and those who can not recognize that will be taught.
Don’t you think ZARA ZABINI looks a lot like ZOE KRAVITZ? Apparently SHE is PROTECTIVE and INTUITIVE but can also be RUTHLESS and SELF-SERVING. They are TWENTY-FIVE and were sorted into SLYTHERIN. The HALF-BLOOD (PART-VEELA) is affiliated with THE DEATH EATERS works as a POTIONEER, and lives in CHELSEA, LONDON. (blossom, 24, MST, she/her)
AESTHETICS :
Liquid silver dripping into a dark green bottle, a pet boa constrictor lovingly cared for, shattered tea cups, keeping secrets so tightly to your chest they wind around your heartstrings, a stack of diamond rings, black lace lingerie worn under a stark white wedding dress, smeared red lipstick, soft moans, power - endless and consuming power, emeralds, thigh high boots, bleach burning your nose, crocodile tears, lipstick on a cigarette, ballet shoes.
HEADCANONS :
O N E ;; Zara is bisexual and biromantic. She will develop feelings for anyone deserving of those feelings and she’s not quiet about it. In fact, in the halls of Hogwarts, she would be seen holding hands with men and women alike.
T W O ;; According to the Veela Wikipedia page, the powers only work on men. This is the reason Zara has so many female friends. She can’t trust that men are around her because they’re interested in her or if they’re interested in the supernatural beauty she exudes. She feels her dynamic with women to be much more genuine.
T H R E E ;; Her Veela mother was the first one to show her power in its truest form. While Monique Zabini loved her husband, she did not love the men who ogled at the two of them. She with her dark skin and he with that of a porcelain dish. It came to a cusp when Zara and her mother were walking and a man made a deplorable comment about helping her make another light-skinned child. In a flash Monique, her beautiful and effervescent mother, became a monster. And, as quickly as it had begun, it had ended. She was herself once more, her silk dress now stained with blood. “Zara,” her mother had whispered to her that evening, braiding the child’s coarse hair. “You are never to allow a man to treat you as anything less than holy.” Zara's large eyes glanced at her mother through the reflection. “Yes, Mother.” And you know what they say. A monster is as a monster does.
F O U R ;; Her skin color has been the one thing Zara has yet to embrace. With her (literally) enchanting beauty, she’s never known what it is that truly, genuinely draws people in if it’s not her Veela abilities. Growing up, her ideals of beauty were her mother - dark skin the color of the pure silt running through the river beside her house - and the friends her mother brought around - skin as white as the snow that fell on the grass beside her house. She was neither, and when she looked in the mirror she wondered where she would ever fit. In her Hogwarts house, forced to hide her heritage to not become the enemy - in public, forced to decide whether she was more black or more white. Couldn’t she just be Zara?
MISC :
boggart ;; her father as an Inferius. she knows he and her mother are her only two weak spots (until her son is born) and that if her father were to face her again, that would be the only thing to cause her to falter in battle.
patronus ;; an acromantula, the giant spider crawls up the walls and fends off Dementors. this is her Patronus because she is as venomous and unforgiving as the creatures, though their loyalty can be won - as can hers.
favorite spell ;; Cruciatus Curse
amortentia ;; the French countryside when it’s raining, her favorite bakery in Italy and lavenders
wand ;;
—- wood ; cedar wood | The witch or wizard who is well-matched with cedar carries the potential to be a frightening adversary, which often comes as a shock to those who have thoughtlessly challenged them.

BIOGRAPHY :
*TW FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT, DEATH OF A FAMILY MEMBER, PREGNANCY AND MURDER*
When Zara was born, her father’s eyes sparkled. A tear rolled down his cheek, and her mother - with a tired arm - reached to wipe it clear. “She’s beautiful,” he had whispered. “She’s our little miracle,” her mother had agreed.
Her face was perfect, even moments after birth. Drawing the nurses and doctors to wonder at her face in awe, astonished by the newborn’s beauty. She was just shy of one hour old and her existence was already cause for conversation. She grew up comfortably, in a large home right on a river in Scotland. Her father doted on both she and her mother, arriving home with flowers for both of them for no specific occasion. Simply for being his world, he’d told them. He was everything Zara wanted to find in a man - one to grow old with.
She was ten years old when her father didn’t come home from work one evening. Just old enough to understand what the Aurors meant when they said he’d been found, dead in an alley with his wallet missing. Her father had been taken from her over thirty Galleons, and he would never see her grow up. Monique was inconsolable, and therefore not of much help to her daughter as she struggled through the process alone. One day, things changed. Monique was done crying, she was there to braid Zara’s hair again.
“What did you do, Mama?,” Zara asked. “I didn’t let a man treat my family as anything less than holy.” She had said almost the same thing years ago, walking away from the scene in a blood stained dress. She was exuding emotion. Not just emotion. Justice. Not just justice. Revenge.
Zara longed for a taste of revenge.
Her beauty, the inescapable attention it brought, made it nearly impossible for her to be sure whose intentions were pure. She had a hard time trusting her heart in the hands of the ravenous boys who roamed the halls of Hogwarts. Or anywhere for that matter. And in Fifth Year her tentative spirit around them was proven correct as a man two years her elder held her down, silencing her cries for help. The next day he mysteriously lost his footing off of a ledge in the Astronomy Tower. Zara gave what happened to her no credit to turning her into what she had become. No, she would never give the pain someone had put her through the privilege of being the reason she was strong. She was the reason she was strong. She’d learned from a young age that to be strong was to be untouchable - and god help the person who dared to touch her.
The taste of power it gave her satiated the hunger for revenge that had been aching in her chest for years. She had come out on top. She would never let anyone hurt her again, and she finally felt whole. It was borderline sociopathic behavior, and despite knowing that, she continued her warpath, tearing through the halls radiating an energy only fools would choose to go up against.
Her time came when a recruiter of the Dark Lord approached her - her first husband. A wealthy man who she drew in with her charms, her beauty, her enchanting voice. Then, when she was high enough in Voldemort’s ranks - much more useful than her husband, of course - he found himself at the wrong end of a poisoned tea. She liked the way he writhed in pain beneath her. What they had had never been love. But still, she wiped away crocodile tears as they buried him, treating herself to a new necklace the next day.
She is powered by power. And men came to her, desperate to know what she might taste like. Women, too, only they never found themselves clawing at their own throats as fire tore through them from the inside out. She was gentle with women, allowed them in and out of her Venus Fly Trap as they pleased. A Black Widow, they called her. She liked it. She liked the sound of the venom behind the name she had been given.
Another husband came and went. A Pureblood she met while visiting her mother in France. It wasn’t long before he, too, met his end. Although she waited until he had given her a child and she knew she could secure another fortune before his… untimely death. Her hunger for revenge may have been satiated, but with every sip of power that she’s gotten over the years, the thirst becomes stronger.

FINAL CHRISTMAS OTP PROMPT FROM ME, MISO SENPAI! THE PERSON WHO YOU THINK IT IS, BUT IT REALLY ISN'T, BUT REALLY IT IS. ;) HOW'S ABOUT SEBRON, IN EITHER THE TITANIC AU OR THE STAR AU? YAAAAAAAAAAAAS. SANK YOU. ;* ILUSFM!!!!!!!! I MEAN, WHAT? NO. I'M A TOTAL STRANGER.
AAAAAAAAAAA SENPAI. YOU ARE SO CUTE, MY HEART EXPLODES WITH DOKIS. I KNOW IT’S YOU 😘 Thank youuuuuuuuuuu for sending -GASPS- sebron 😭 I haven’t thought about this pair in soooo lo--no, that’s a lie. I’ve been thinking about them lately. ;D Just that, the thoughts haven’t turned into written words. Hahaha
ILUSFM2, SWEET SENPAI SINPAI. I hope you enjoy reading these!
Christmas OTP Questions: sebron
Who wakes the other up excitedly on Christmas morning? Which one begs for five more minutes of sleep? For both AUs, it’s Ronald that wakes up all excited, but for different reasons. Titanic!Ron is excited because it’s Christmas!! and it’s wonderful. He loves it. Remember he once woke Sebastian up and gave himself to Seabass as his present. After that year, it’s always Sebastian that wakes up before Ronald, to make sure Ronald wakes up THE BEST way on his favorite day of the year.Star!Ron is awake from 5am, refreshing (ctrl+r or alt+f5) the SOFC (Sebas-chan Official Fan Club--access limited to Members only, password-protected) website to see Sebastian’s special Christmas message, which can only be viewed on Christmas day. Note that while he’s refreshing like crazy, the very star he’ll be watching on the screen is sleeping soundly in his bed. Sebastian wakes up to Ronald squealing (even though Ronald tries so hard not to squeal loudly), groans, gets out of bed to pull Ronald away from his pc desk and drags him back to bed.“Sleep. Spaz later.”“Wait, I gotta message Grell--”“Spaz later.”“Your wink at the end of the video is to DIE for, Sebas-chan.”“Wink later. Sleep. Sleep. Two eyes closed, Ronald.”“Yes, but--”“Sleep. Please.”
Which one hangs the mistletoe? In Titanic AU, it’s Sebastian. He hangs it at the door connecting the kitchen and the living room, and normally waits there before lunch/dinner so that Ronald will have to kiss him before eating. (Sebastian likes to think it’s his appetizer.) In Star AU, it’s Ronald. He hangs it in a way that replicates a certain scene in one of Sebastian’s movies, where he kabedons a girl beneath a mistletoe before kissing her. Sebastian plays along, reciting his DOKIFUL lines to the girl, but replacing the girl’s name with “Ronald”. When Sebastian leans in to kiss Ronald, he pulls away for a tiny bit, just to get Ron to whimper and whine (which Ron does). Sebastian has a wicked smile on his face as he kisses Ronald, deeper than stated in the script.
Which one cooks? Do they cook together? Do they go out to eat? In Titanic AU, they go out to eat. Sebastian treats Ronald to the most expensive of restaurants, which makes Ronald feel uneasy. He doesn’t like it when he gets too pampered by Sebastian, because he likes proving he earns enough on his own, too. He doesn’t like feeling like he’s just a pet to keep happy with such luxury. He tells Sebastian about this, and he corrects himself in their future dates. In Star AU, Sebastian super duper wishes he could go out to eat with Ronald, but because of his star status and keeping up a good, never-in-a-relationship image for all his fans, he can’t. Ronald understands, of course, and even puts out more effort than Sebastian that they shouldn’t ever have a date outside his house. WHICH IS WHY Grell, glorious and awesome as she is, sets up a plan with William. After Sebastian’s performance at Music Station (a music show that always has a 3 hr special of musicians performing live on Christmas), William takes Sebastian to Grell’s bar, which is closed to the public for the evening. All the bar’s tables are set to the side, except for one table for two, candle lit. Ronald sits on one chair, with a blindfold over his eyes. (Grell kidnapped him and brought him here after they watched Music Station together.) It’s Sebastian that takes off Ronald’s blindfold, and they’re both just so overwhelmed that they can finally have a date outside. Grell and her staff serve them D E L I C IO U S food that evening, and even let Sebron go on a pretend drive date using a cardboard car and a projector. It’s a little silly but IT’S SUPER DOKIFUL.(Wow. That was such a long answer. OOPS)
Which one can’t sleep the night before? In Titanic AU, they sleep in their normal hours. After a few rounds of good shit good shit sex. ;DIn Star AU, Ronald stays up and waits for Sebastian to arrive. There are years Sebas arrives early on the evening of the 24th, but there are times he arrives late into the night, still busy with shooting despite him having to perform live the following day. Ronald spends time marathoning his most favorite drama by Sebastian, and sometimes that movie with the kabedon mistletoe scene, too.
Which one dresses like they’re straight out of a Christmas movie? Both of them??? In any of the AUs???? XD Well Star AU Sebas definitely dresses up on Christmas bec of that Music show. Ronald watches him from the tv in a concert t-shirt, house shorts, penlight and Sebas-chan uchiwa in hand.
Which one sings Christmas carols loudly and off-key at random times? In Titanic AU, it’s Sebastian. BEC I WANT HIM TO. I cant have him ever sing off-key in Star AU so he definitely has to (have one imperfection LOL) here in Titanic AU. He can’t even sing Jingle Bells right. Poor man. Ronald laughs at him, not in a ‘HAHA U SUCK” way but in a “GOSH IM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS LOSER” way. He sings along with Sebastian, purposely ruining his own melody/pitch to match Sebastian. In both AUs, Ronald gets pretty passionate about (specifically) "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, that his voice breaks while singing. On a related note to that favorite song, in Star AU, Sebastian catches Ronald listening to this version and starts to sing along. Ronald gets so. fucking. aroused (/o\) by Sebastian’s P E  R F  EC T voice, that by the time the trombone solo goes, Ronald is already making out with Sebas and tearing his clothes off. Sebastian keeps singing him the song while Ronald kisses his neck, feeling like he’s kissing Sebastian’s sweet voice.
Which one tears open their packages? Which one slowly, methodically unwraps every single one? In Titanic AU, they both unwrap methodically. Ronald gets a lot more presents than Sebastian, because he’s got a whole lot of family and is so loved by both grandparents on both sides of the family. He’s the Family Favorite. XDIn Star AU, Sebastian gets a whole FUCKTON of gifts from fans. Ronald helps him open them. Ron starts opening methodically, until he runs out of patience and just tears them up. Sebastian unwraps each present methodically, from start to finish.
Who opens their biggest gift first? Who opens their smallest gift first? In Titanic AU, Ronald goes from smallest to biggest. Sebastian goes from biggest to smallest. They both reserve each other’s gifts for last.In Star AU, they go by it as the gifts are sorted. William has a list of presents, so they go through that list one by one.
Which one makes the sappy Christmas speech? In both AUs, Sebastian. Because no matter what AU, he just has that way with words. In Titanic AU, he makes Titanic references to make Ronald s w o o n. In Star AU, he sings and Ronald just--he faints, man. No matter the AU, Sebastian aims to make Ronald lose himself and is successful in both.
Which one’s family do they spend Christmas Day with? Does the whole family get together, or is it just your OTP, and any kids they have? In Titanic AU, the first Christmas they’re an official couple, Ronald  persuades Sebastian to go to his family home with him, and Sebastian reluctantly agrees. Sebas had a bad feeling about it, based on what he overhears from Ronald when he’s on the phone with a relative. They only last a two hours at Ronald’s old home, because apparently Ronald’s family wasn’t as open-minded as he thought they were, Sebastian suffering the brunt of it. Despite the family not liking who his boyfriend is, Ronald still remains to be the Family Favorite, though his relatives are vocal about ‘breaking up this fling and finding a girl to settle down with soon’. It really pains him. Ever since then, they spend all holidays alone together. In Star AU, they spend Christmas together by themselves in Ron’s apartment, except for that one year Grell held that surprise for them. The year after that, they plan a surprise for Grelliam, too, which was a little hard to accomplish because of William being such a workaholic.
Which one buys a gift for their pet? No pets~ But if they had one, Ronald in Titanic AU and Sebas in Star AU.Titanic: Bec Ron gets so easily attached to animals, like hamsters or dogs. Although they don’t necessarily like him back. LOL When they’re out on a walk, and Ronald tries to pet a dog, the dog tends to approach Sebastian instead.Star: Sebastian. Because he’s never had a pet, so having one must be so wonderful for him.
Who dreams of a white Christmas? For both, Sebastian. Because I think he finds peace in seeing the world be covered in a white blanket. He thinks it’s calming how the world’s noises seem muted by the snow. To have the world be muted like that on one of the noisiest days of the year is nice. He’d like to just snuggle up with Ronald on such a day.
Which one munches on candy until lunch time? Hmmmm neither of them, probs. XD I’ll turn the question into “Which one spoils themselves by watching something they love?” It’s Ronald for both.Titanic: “Ronald, Titanic isn’t even a Christmas movie.”“It’s a great movie. We’re watching it.”Star AU: “Ronald, that’s the twelfth time you’ve watched last year’s performance.”“It doesn’t reduce your radiance, Sebas-chan. You’re so amazing.”
Which one goes to bed first that day? Which one stays up, being nostalgic? In Titanic AU, Ronald heads to bed first, with Sebastian watching him, feeling giddy that this person chooses to stay with him.In Star AU, Sebastian falls asleep first. He’s just so dead tired by then, what with his live performance and all. Ronald watches him sleep, not in a fanboy-y way. Just-- he lets himself bask in Sebastian’s presence. He wishes them another wonderful year to come.
Which one is ready to start de-decorating on the 26th? Which one wants to keep stuff up until after January? In Titanic AU, Sebastian wants anything Christmas gone by the 26th. Ronald, though sad, helps Sebastian put things away. When Sebastian realizes how sad Ronald gets while putting away decors, he lets him keep one garland across their living room to keep the Christmas vibe alive. In Star AU, both of them don’t care for Christmas much to put up decors. So they don’t have any de-decorating to do. XD Ronald attempts the mistletoe thing all throughout December though. Hehehhe.
AAAAAAAAAAAAND THATS IT. Thank you soooo sososoosososo much for sending these asks, bb. I had so much fun answering them. I hope you had fun reading them, too. ;*
I LOVE U SO MUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH!!!!!! You are the best. 😍

they hear a knock on their door and when they say “enter” their ex walks in ? Depends on which ex, but it’d be safe to assume he’d hug her and try to carry on a normal and calm conversation, even if with one of them, he’d be wondering how she found him.
if their house was on fire and they had 60 seconds to leave ? what 5 things would they take with them ? If it’s the frat house, his phone, wallet, sketchbook, picture of his family, and laptop. If it’s his home-home, his cat, sketchbook, phone, wallet, and then he’d grab whichever family member he passed by the arm.
« ° O V E R - A L L ;
when was the last time you tried something new ? Well, I tried working with a new medium in class recently. I don’t think I like carving much.
would you ever give up on your life if you could save someone else’s with it ? I mean, not to be selfish, but it depends on the person. For a kid, absolutely. For family, positively. Strangers... Not so much.
are you happy with yourself ? If I’m honest, no.
what chances do you wish you had taken ? I wish I had applied to bigger art schools. Don’t get me wrong, I love where I am, but I wish I’d seen if I could have gotten in.
what’s the first thing you think when you see yourself in the mirror ? “Holy shit that awful bedhead” or “God I’m still tired.”

OMG. Sorry for taking not my idea for requesting, but could you do "would you write something abt jimin where he comes back on your doorstep after breaking up with you in the past?" but for Suga?? Your writing is fantastic and the idea is brilliant! I would be so grateful if you dont mind and writing another angst!
A, B, C, D, E, F U. – Suga
Characters: Reader X YoongiRated: H for Have I ever proof-read before?
Tumblr media
Musicblasts through his ears, mixed with laughter a bit too loud, admitting thedrops of alcohol the crowd has been drinking. There are some faces herecognizes, some that he hasn’t seen in such a long time that it brings a warmhug around his heart, some others that he’s seen all too recently, but brings asmile to his face nonetheless. His mom is on his right, bragging about sometrip she did with her husband the year before, expressing how much she wasmissing the beautiful landscape of the Bahamas.
Yoongibrings the glass of champagne to his lips, tasting the sweet bubbles of the beveragetickling his insides. He wasn’t paying much attention, only joining theconversation to approve of his mother’s sayings. He can see Taehyung, in anervous conversation with his aunt, trying to escape the deadly hands that keptplaying with his cheeks, and when their eyes met, Yoongi could swear he saw a cryfor help in the younger’s eyes.
ButYoongi did nothing, just a smile playing on his lips as he let his eyes wanderaround the room once more. His father is in a deep conversation with one oftheir neighbors, and Yoongi was grateful to the Heavens that he wasn’t stuckwith them. A loud laughter catches his attention, and he almost breaks his neckturning his head in the opposite direction, eager to find a new distraction. There sat a woman that he did not know, legs tightly squeeze together. Her headwas thrown back as a wave of giggles hit her, trying to hide her mouth with herhand, in vain. In front of her was Yoongi’s cousin, a handsome lad with hair abit too perfect (and Yoongi knows alot about things too perfect, he’s a goddamn idol after all).
It’swonderful, he thinks. It’s been so, so long he’s been here that he can’t quiteremember when was the last time. Around Christmas, maybe? Or was it last year?Thanksgiving, probably. All in all, there are some faces that he’s happy to see, ones that he missed dearly even though he wouldn’t admit it for anything in theworld. Some others, he’ll admit anyway, that he isn’t quite fond of seeing, buthe’s willing to ignore that fact, just for the sake of this party.
Daeguis beautiful under the winter’s snow, drenched in a cold white coat that wouldfreeze you to the bone. The fireplace, in the contrary, is warm and heats theliving room in the perfect temperature.
Nomatter how much he’s searched the place with his eyes, however, Yoongi cannotfind the person he’s looking for. He waited all evening, jumping on the doorevery time it rang, but was defeated with a sinking heart each and every timeit wasn’t the one he was hoping for. It’s only past nine, so he hopes thatthere is still a chance she mightcome.
Butshe doesn’t. She does not come at ten, not when the clock strikes eleven either.
“Whathas you sulking like that?” There’s an arm wrapping around his shoulders, andthe warmth of his big brother’s body crashing against his side. The eldercrashes his almost empty drink against Yoongi’s full one, the tingling of theglass ringing in their ears. “Come on, smile, baby brother, the party isn’t that bad.” He winks at him, and Yoongi knowsexactly the meaning behind it – their mother’s parties tend to always be a fullamount of boring, but Yoongi guesses, yes, this one isn’t half as bad as the others. “What’s on your mind?”
Yoongiwould swear that his brother might have forced a bit too much on the alcohol, hethinks that he maybe should keep an eye on him, just in case the older decidesto do something regretful (none of the two brothers would talk about theirgrandmother’s eightieth birthday).
Hedoes not know what really is on his mind. The environment is just too weird tohim. When this house used to be home, it used to be his refuge after a long dayat school, those faces were familiar to him, but now – now, it almost feelsforeign. His home had become his studio, back in Seoul, his family has becomehis team members and colleagues. There’s something quite odd about it, and itall honesty, it frustrates Yoongi to the bone.
“Shewas working, you know.” That got Yoongi’s attention, for a moment, he wasn’tsure he still thought about her. But he got to thank his brother for alwaysguessing what was on his mind. Maybe he knew him too much, or either he was that readable. Yoongi thought aboutdenying, thought about asking who the hell was his brother talking about, butif growing up with him ever taught him something, was that his brother kneweverything about him. Especially when it was about his love life. “She musthave ended her shift now,” His brother trailed off, glancing at his watch witha pout on his lips before continuing once again, “You know what, I actuallythink that she should be home by now.”
“I’mnot going to her house, hyung.” Even before his older brother had the time toask why, Yoongi was detaching himself from his embrace, looking at the otherwith raised brows and a firm gaze that even had his brother to shut his mouth. “Thereis probably a reason why she’s not here tonight, and I’ll bet anything that it’sbecause she does not want to see me.”
Itwasn’t a secret to anyone how things ended between them two, and just eventhinking about it made Yoongi’s heart to clench on itself, pumping his bloodfaster in his veins. “Pussy.” His brother scoffed, sipping smugly at his glassof whatever alcohol he was in, Yoongi did not care because this word only madehim straighten his back, pinch his lips as he was ready to fight his brother, here and then.
“I’mnot – I’m not a pussy, what the fuck?” But his older brothers say nothing else,he just keeps on drinking his glass with raised brows that had Yoongi’s heartto pump even faster than before, though this time, it isn’t because of nostalgia.“Stop looking at me like that.” Yoongi’s foot taps nervously on the floor, andhe really is this close to throw his glass of champagne into his brother’s facebecause, the shithead just doesn’t stop, and the smug look on his face issomething that Yoongi wouldn’t have miss even in a thousand years. “I’m not afucking pussy, don’t be an ass.”
“Okay.”His older brother shrugs his shoulders, though Yoongi has spend enough yearsgrowing up with him to know that, this look he has on his face tells anythingbut ‘okay’, and Yoongi hates it.
Hehates it, because maybe there’s a part where his brother isn’t wrong, thatthere is a part of him that is afraid of going to her house, and no matter howdeadly his eyes are towards his sibling, it doesn’t change the fact that he’sright. Maybe he is a pussy. “I hate you.”
Theelder says nothing, but the way his eyebrows raise speaks a thousand words thatYoongi definitely don’t want to hear. And his brother has this smile – no, it’sworse than that, it’s a grin, a smirk – that Yoongi desperately wants to eraseoff his face, and he’s about to do it, about to roll off a curse from the tipof his tongue but then, he crosses the stare of his mother not far away and hestops himself right before it’s too late. He hates the power she has over himjust as much as he hates the idiot he has for brother.
So,it goes like this for the entire night, his mind occupied with the onlypresence of a woman, a woman that he surely hates his guts – despise him forwho he is, for what he’s done and how he done it. He hates himself too, he’stoo biter and he has too much feelings that he doesn’t like, he can’t help it,it’s stronger than him. It’s the result of weeks, no months of denying thetruth to himself, of ignoring the hatred feeling he had in the bottom of hisguts every time he looked in the mirror, ignoring the ache in his heart everytime his thumb ghosted over the name of her contact in his phone, trying tofind the reason of this whole situation.
Andmaybe, maybe that’s the reason why his feet dragged him here, exactly one hourand a half after the party ended, in front of a house that he almost grew upin, that he used to consider home asmuch as his parent’s house. It has a white porch, and he notices that the oldwood of the first step to the front door is crackled, just like he noted the onlylight comes from the first floor, last window to the right.
Hestays here for a little while, just fixing at the old house with a feeling ofnostalgia in the tip of his fingers. There’s a battle happening in the field ofhis mind, two parties opposed to each other, one that claims that anything inthe whole wide world is a better idea than knocking on the door, and the otherclaiming, shouting that it’s the best decision he could make in his entirelife.
Yoongidoes not know who to listen, it’s like those shows happening in the television, where there is an angel whispering in his ear, another devil speaking theirwords to influence him the best he can. Yoongi is torn, and he wants to shoutat them to just shut the hell up, so he can think. So he can determine on hisown what to do, and what to say in case he decides to give in to his own fantasy.
Andhe doesn’t even realize before it’s already too late, the only thing breakinghis thoughts is the sound of his knuckles rasping over the wooden door. His eyeswiden, big and round when he understands what he just did – and he takes himone second only to know that he wants to get the hell out of here, to run downthe street or hide behind the nearest car like he used to do as a child when hedid the same pranks to his neighbors. But no, his two feet are stuck, scotchedon the porch as if they’re trying to mock him, to force him to face hisactions.
Ittakes no more than a minute before the door opens harshly, and the air isknocked out of his lungs when the person behind appears. He feels dizzy for amoment, lips parted open and then, he sweating, his hands are clammy, he feelshot and it’s saying something because the icy snow is still trying to eat hisflesh.
Shestands there, eyebrows frowned and a curse ready to fall off her lips atwhoever dares to come to her house at this hour of the night but – but it diesat the moment her eyes falls on Yoongi. And then, she doesn’t know what to say,and Yoongi would kill to know what are her feelings because, he doesn’t knowwhat his own are, and maybe it’ll help to know what’s in front of him. If he’sabout to face the vicious rage of a giant ready to kill on sight, or if he’llbe met with warm hands, a warm breath and the warm eyes of an old friend.
Butthere’s none of either. There’s just a blank face, dead of any expressioncoming his way and it twist at his inside like a tornado in the middle of thesea. “Hi.” That’s all he can manage to say, all that he feels safe enough tospeak because he knows that whatever else he says, it might come of wrong.
Heexpects the door to shut right to his face, he waits for the loud thud of thewood slamming on the frame. Though there isn’t even a hint of a smile, she justcrosses her arms over her chest, leaning against the doorframe, waiting forwhatever might come her way.
Yoongiclears his throat, bouncing on the heels of his feet awkwardly, his handsfinding a way in the pockets of his jacket. “Hi.” he says again, just a littlelouder this time, in case she hasn’t heard the first time, what he doesn’t knowthough was that she heard him loud and clear before. “I… I didn’t saw you atthe party,” he’s nervous, clearly, and once more, there’s something that hehates. He despises the way she’s making him feel, she’s not even doing anythingother than looking at him and he’s already a stuttering mess.
“Yeah.”It’s a simple word, Yoongi isn’t even sure she said it but – but he hears itnonetheless, and it’s wonderful, the way it reaches his ears so naturally. And hemissed it. So much.
Hedoesn’t know what to say after that, he didn’t have the time to think thisthrough, and now, she looks at him with a way that makes his word to stuck inhis throat. And no matter what bribes of words comes through his mind, it’s notenough, it doesn’t fit the situation, he’s at a loss of words, and it makes hismouth dry, it makes a knot to form in his throat that’ll definitely block anyword trying to come out.
“Whyare you here, Yoongi?” He can’t answer, it’s a question way too difficult tofind a response to. He doesn’t even know how he got here, how his body wasstronger than his mind, and the way she looks at him is enough to make him wantto never leave again.
“Idon’t know,” It’s the truth, he can’t even lie to her face, not right now, it’simpossible when she has this hurt look on her face. The one he’s sure she hadwhen he broke up with her, all those months ago – and he’s an idiot, because hedoesn’t even know what she looked like, he was a coward, a pure, idiotic cowardthat couldn’t even face her when he broke her heart. “I’m sorry, I don’t knowwhat I’m doing here.”
Andhe turns to leave. His feet finally finding the willing power to take off theground, and he’s almost down the three steps to the pavement when he stopshimself again, turning around as she watched him leave. But this time, he can’t.He just cannot leave again, not when it’s been so long since he’s seen her. Andhe’s done being a coward, he’s done leaving her.
“No,I…” He climbs the stairs again, and she straightens her back, her arms fallingto her sides at the sudden confidence Yoongi shows, it’s foreign, weirdcompared to the nervous being he was not a minute ago. “You weren’t there, atthe party, I mean. There was everyone, family, neighbors, people that I don’teven know, old classmates, friends and I miss you–”
“Friends?”She interrupted him, scoffing at the word, her shoulders jumping as she let asnort escape her. “Because you think we’re friends?” There is a weird soundcoming from the back of her throat, something that hinted him of a storm, onethat he faced many times when they were still a couple, when she was still hisand he was still hers. “We’re not friends, we’re not – You broke up with me, Yoongi, you don’t get to come here and say that you miss me.”
“It’snot –”
“No,you know what, I’m done keeping quiet, it’s my turn to talk.” And he was right, the fire is clear in her eyes, the storm is here, not hidden behind themountains anymore, it’s grey and dark and there’s no light clearing his way. It’scold, icy, freezing. “You broke up with me, Yoongi, and I get it. I get thatyou were to live your dream, to become a superstar around the whole continent, hell the whole world. But what am I, uh?” He’s quiet, lips steal shut like achild getting grounded for punching another kid in the schoolyard. “Wasn’t I theone who told you to keep on believing in your dreams? Wasn’t I the one thatheld your hands when the whole world was against your choices, even yourparents? Wasn’t I the one to stand by your sides when you were feeling down?”
Shespeaks so quickly yet Yoongi catches every single word escaping her mouth, hedoes not miss one syllable, not one letter and every single one of them cuts awound deeper into his heart each single time. “I –”
“Itold you to go to Seoul, I told you to go to the audition, I helped you goingthrough your doubts. And how did you repay me?” Though she let the silence fallafter her question to catch her breath, she did not expect any answer, and Yoongiknew better than to find one. “You left me.” Even hearing those words, it hurthim. And it’s really freaking selfish because he doesn’t get to be hurt by thethings he’s done, he doesn’t get to be the victim here, and she surely won’tlet him. “Over a fucking text.” He’s an idiot for showing up here, for hopingthat there could be a part of her ready to forgive him, ready to maybe –eventually, take him. He’s a fool, a stupid, clueless fool. “Do you have anyidea what it did to me? Do you know what I was to feel when you were out there, having the time of your life?”
“Idid think about you, every single fucking day.” He can’t keep quiet anymore. Hehas things to say, he can’t let her insult him like a helpless lamb, becauseeven though she’s right, there’s things she doesn’t know. And that’s only thenthat he can blame the alcohol running in his veins, because he has to find areason for his outburst, though he knows, deep down, that he should keep hismouth shut, and let her say all the things she has on her heart.
“No.No, you don’t get to say that.” She was raising her voice now, and Yoongi wondershow the neighbors didn’t got out of their home yet, how they didn’t wake anyoneyet. And she has her fingers pointed at him, accusing him of things she hasn’t saidyet. “You don’t get to pity yourself and make me become the villain here. Youhave no right, Yoongi, no fucking right to come to my house and say thosethings, say that you miss me. You have no right to come here after months, samemonths that I spend trying to forget you, to get over you. It was so fuckinghard, you know, convincing myself to not love you anymore. Convincing that youwere just a fucking piece of trash that forgot about his girl as soon as famewas involved. And I don’t care what made you think that. I don’t care what youwere thinking at the time, d’you know what? Because you broke my heart, youfucking send me a text to end things, and I hate you for that. I hate you fornot having the guts to tell me face to face that you didn’t love me anymore, that it was over between us.”
Andthere are tears streaming down her face, like the Niagara Falls, it wets hershirt, crashes on the floor beneath her. Yoongi is this close to lift histhumb, wiping her tears away but he can’t, he can’t cross this line because, she hates him, she hates him so fucking much. And he sees it now, he sees howmuch he hurt her, how much he’s still hurting her, after all those months, she’sstill crying for him, and if he knew better, if he ever cared about her, just alittle bit, he should leave. He should walk away, turn his back and nevercontact her again.
Shespits her hatred, everything that build into her mind over all this time, allthe things she dreamed to say to his face.
Yoongican’t blame her. He stays quiet instead, he listens, remembers how every wordshe says paints his inside with the feelings of hurt and shame. It may last allnight until she finishes her speech, until she finally lets out all the fireshe has inside of her, all the wind and lightening clouding her mind.
Helistens, until the end. Until she catches her breath, and the tears had triedonto her cheeks, no matter how hurtful it feels.
I let what comes afterwords to your imagination.

Chapter 2: Christmas Trees, Chocolates, & Promises You Don’t Intend to Keep
The following weekend, David takes Killian and Henry out in his pickup to scout for Christmas trees. No one in Storybrooke is expressly growing evergreens, but when Henry shows him pictures of what they’re looking for, David’s face lights up and he nods.  “I know just the place.”
He drives them out to the west edge of the woods the next day, pulling the Ford to a stop along the side of the packed dirt road.  “There’s a grove of younger fir trees,” he says, lowering the gate on his truck bed and pointing, “just through there.”  He hauls out a stack of folded tarp and turns toward Killian, his breath misting. “Here.”
Killian accepts it with a curious look.  “What’re these for?”
“To wrap the trees,” David explains, grunting as he reaches for the chainsaw he’s also brought along.
“You act like you’ve done this before,” Killian observes.
“No,” he says cheerfully, leading them away from the road and into the tree line, “but I can look things up on the internet well enough.” He claps Killian on the shoulder with one gloved hand.  “You could try it sometime, you know.”
Killian suffers the ribbing good-naturedly.  “I’ll have you know that I’m becoming quite proficient at using Google, even though I still say it’s a ridiculous name.”  He doesn’t miss David and Henry swapping amused looks on either side of him as they crunch their way through the ankle-deep snow.
“At least he’s stopped calling it ‘The Google,’” David comments indulgently.
Henry grins.  “Baby steps.”
Killian merely rolls his eyes but doesn’t retort.  In truth, this relaxed camaraderie he’s developed with the members of Emma’s family is a one of many gifts they’ve given him that he never dreamed of having. Where once he threatened men’s lives for such teasing, he now views these little barbs from Charming, Snow, Henry, and, yes, even Regina, as a badge of honor, a sign that he’s been accepted into the fold, that he belongs. He's spent hundreds of years feared by those closest to him, respected but unloved, and now that he is loved, albeit inexplicably, by a group of remarkable individuals who view him as an equal, rather than their superior, there's no question in his mind which he prefers.
It’s a short walk from the road to the grove David spoke of, a smattering of younger trees of various sizes scattered amongst the towering, more ancient specimens that make up the canopy.
“Will this work?” David asks as they pause to survey the scene in front of them.
Henry ploughs ahead excitedly.  “Yeah. It’s great!  How’d you remember this place?”
David chuckles, following along with Killian at his heels.  “Given the amount of time we’ve spent looking for people out in these woods over the last couple years, I should hope I’ve got a decent lay of the land by now.”
They locate a couple of handsome six-foot firs that garner Henry’s approval and set to work felling them and wrapping them in the tarps.  It takes a bit of trial and error to get the trees wrapped tightly enough that they can carry them well, and David ends up making a trip back to the truck for some rope to use to bind them up.
“Maybe we should have brought Mom,” Henry says as they finish wrapping the second tree.  “She could have just poofed these trees home.” He holds the tarp in place while Killlian tugs the loops of rope snug around the oversized bundle and ties it off with a maritime knot.
“Which mom?” David asks.
Henry shrugs. “Either.”
Killian climbs to his feet and dusts his hand off on his leg.  “As convenient as that might be, lad, you know magic is not always the answer,” he chides.  “We’re three capable men, and there’s something to be said for doing an honest day’s work with your hands.  Or, you know…”  He waves his hook with a sheepish grin.
“Besides,” David adds, “Isn’t this part of the Christmas experience?”  He and Killian position themselves on either side of the tree and hoist it off the ground in tandem.
Henry gathers up the chainsaw and a coil of unused rope.  “I guess.”
“Well, how did you and Emma get a tree before?  I mean,” David clears his throat, “in your fake memories?”
Henry shrugs.  “You know how fake memories are.  Everything is kinda fuzzy.  But there’s no local forest when you live in New York, except for Central Park, I guess, which doesn’t count.  So there are farmers who grow Christmas trees out in the country and bring them into the City to sell.  You just find a Christmas tree stand and get one already cut and wrapped.  This,” he gestures to their surroundings, “is totally old school.”  He brightens as they set off for the truck, tromping back toward the road.  “Do you think we could get Tiny to start growing Christmas trees on his farm?”
David grins. “That’s not a bad idea.  Maybe if you ask nicely.  Or your mom.”
“Aye,” Killian agrees, smirking.  “The giant has always had a soft spot for Emma.”
They slide the first tree into the bed of the pickup and head back to retrieve the second, and fifteen minutes later they pile back into the cab with Henry sandwiched in the middle.
“Hey, Grandpa?” Henry asks as the truck rumbles to life.  He leans over with his smart phone and shows David a picture of a leafy green plant with white berries.  “Have you ever seen anything like this growing around Storybrooke?”
David takes the phone and studies the picture as he adjusts the heater, his brow wrinkling. “Sure.  It’s a parasite that grows on trees.  Why?”
Henry flushes excitedly. “Do you know where to find it?”
David arches an eyebrow at his grandson’s eager expression and smiles wanly, suspicion in his eyes.  “Yeah, there used to be some down by the animal shelter.  The berries are poisonous; we always had to keep the dogs away from them.”
“Can we go get some?”
Killian reaches over to take the phone and inspect the image with interest.  “What is it, lad?”
Henry’s face turns a little ruddy.  “Mistletoe.”
“Another Christmas tradition?” Killian asks, clearly smelling a plot.  His lips curve in a burgeoning grin, and he shoots David a look over Henry’s head.
“Well, yeah,” Henry fidgets.  You hang it, and people who get caught under it together have to kiss.”
Killian breaks into a hearty laugh.  “I see. Planning to keep some handy for your Violet, are you?”
Henry shrugs, trying to seem nonchalant.  “Maybe.”
David beams with amusement and pulls the truck out on to the road, making a U-turn and heading for the animal shelter.  “Well, we can’t go against tradition, can we?”
“Perish the thought,” Killian scoffs.  His eyes glint with mischief as he gives Henry a sidelong glance.  “You're not the only one who might be able to put this mistletoe to good use.”
Henry groans. “Promise me you and Mom and," he turns to look at David, "you and Grandma aren't going to be making out all the time from now until New Year's.”
Killian gives his stepson a rakish grin.  "It's bad form to make promises you don’t intend to keep, lad.”
*                             *                             *
  I don’t want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
I don’t care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you
Emma hums to herself as Christmas tunes fill the first floor of the house, pausing in between refrains to take a deep whiff of the aroma of milk chocolate as she stands at the stove and stirs the melting concoction in a double boiler.  Her free hand absently strokes her belly, and she sways a little in time to the song, wondering if the baby can hear any strains of music or sense the excitement of the impending holiday.  The little girl certainly seems to be giving Emma plenty of Christmas food cravings, and the big draw these last two weeks, in contrast to Emma’s usual penchant for the warmth of cinnamon, has been the cool bite of mint.
She sets her spatula aside and breaks away from the stove for a minute, moving over to the wood block cutting board on the counter.  Taking up a stainless steel meat hammer, she proceeds to whack at a large plastic bag full of peppermints in time to the quick beat, the candies crushing with each satisfying blow.
The front door opens, a frosty gust pouring in, and Henry appears with his arms wrapped around the front end of a cut and bound tree, his cheeks blotchy pink with cold and exertion. “Hey, Mom!” he pants, hauling the bundle over the threshold with Killian bringing up the rear.
“Hey, guys.”  Emma grins and pauses the candy carnage to watch them set the tree down along the wall just to the left of the coat rack. “I was starting to wonder where you two were.”
Killian sighs with satisfaction as he straightens and pushes the door closed against the frigid afternoon air.  “Sorry, love,” he says, flashing her an exhilarated smile.  “We had to make an extra stop on the way, and then it took a while to get the first tree set up at your parents’.”
“Extra stop?”
Her husband and her son exchange a conspiratorial look.
“Just an errand,” Killian assures her smoothly.  “Picked up a little something for later.”
She briefly narrows one eye at his coyness but resumes crushing the peppermints just as the song swells to a climax.  Thwack-thwack-thwack-thwack...
Killian and Henry exchange another look, clearly wary of the idea of a woman of Emma’s temperament wielding a hammer while pregnant and hormonal.  As usual, Killian braves the threat first, tugging his glove off between his teeth and flashing her his most disarming smile as he wanders into the kitchen. “What on Earth are you doing, Swan?” he chuckles.
She hums and sets her mallet aside.  “Making peppermint bark,” she says simply.
Killian’s face remains pleasantly blank as he draws close.  “Bark?”
Emma’s lashes flutter as he plants a quick kiss on her lips and smoothes his hand over her belly, and she hums happily.  “Mm-hmm. It’s a Christmas treat,” she explains, turning back to the stove to stir the molten chocolate before it burns. “It’s crushed peppermint candy in layers of white and milk chocolate.  It looks a little like tree bark.  And it’s delicious.”
His blue eyes light with understanding, and he grins at her knowingly.  “Ah.  Craving the peppermint again today, I take it?”
“Like you wouldn’t believe,” she says, rolling her eyes and cutting out the burner on the stove.  She hastily scatters a generous portion of crushed mints over the bottom of a baking sheet lined in wax paper and then reaches for an oven mitt.  “We may be out of candy canes, by the way.”
He chuckles and goes to shuck his coat.  “Well, we shall just have to order more.”
“Way ahead of you.” She bites her lip, looking a little chagrined.  “I may have splurged on a whole case this time.  And express shipping.”
He laughs.  “No worries, love.  I’m fairly sure we can afford to keep you stocked in candy canes.”
“Did you ever think this is how you’d be spending all those dubloons?” she asks slyly.
Killian strides back over and gives her a one-armed hug, pressing his lips into her hair.  “No.  This is a far better use of them than anything I could have imagined.”
She beams, and he responds with a wink as he goes to help Henry address the tree.
Henry has the spot for the tree prepped, the location just to the left of the bay windows ready to go with a thick towel and a plastic tray and a tree disposal bag set out just as the YouTube video he’s been diligently reviewing the last couple days instructed. They double-check the tree stand and huddle together around the stump, murmuring to each other as they secure it to the base of the tree.
“You want me to magic it over there?” she calls, watching Henry and Killian bend down on either side of the tree and prepare to move it.
“It’s okay, Mom,” Henry says, glancing up at her.  “We’ve got this.”
Killian gives her son a proud smile.
Having already done this once today at David and Snow’s, he and Henry hoist the tree upright and maneuver it into the place with only a minimal amount of awkwardness and grunting.
“You okay?”
“Yeah.”
“To your left, lad.  The other left.”
“Oh, right.  Oh!  Wait! Wait-wait-wait...”
“Alright?”
“Yeah.  My hand almost slipped.”
“Easy does it now…”
Emma smiles to herself as she finishes pouring the chocolate onto the baking sheet and scrapes the remnants out of the bowl with a spatula while she listens to her boys work together. She reaches for her phone and snaps a few pictures covertly as they settle the tree into place and pull the wrapping away to reveal the handsome silhouette of the deep green fir.  A watery smile curls at her mouth as she catches a shot of them standing next to one another and admiring their handiwork.  Killian and Henry’s first Christmas tree, she thinks.  Our first Christmas tree.  It’s a symbol of them as a family, this tree, the first thing next to this house that they’re all investing in and molding to make their own, and her heart swells at the thought.
Henry leaves Killian slicing open the boxes of lights and ornaments they’d ordered the week before and pops into the kitchen to locate a pitcher with which to pour water into the Christmas tree stand.  “You gonna help us decorate the tree, Mom?” he asks her, rummaging around in one of the lower cabinets.  His face lights up when he finds what he’s looking for.
Emma hurriedly sprinkles another healthy dose of peppermint shards over the liquid chocolate in the baking sheet and moves it to the refrigerator, grinning at her son over her shoulder.  “Of course, Kid.  I can’t let you guys have all the fun.”  She narrows her eyes as she counts the boxes of Christmas lights resting on the floor next to Killian.  “How many lights do you two plan to put on that thing?”
“A thousand.”  Henry grins innocently and sets the pitcher to fill in the sink.
Her eyebrows peak, and she lets out a helpless laugh.  “I’m pretty sure you don’t need a thousand lights for a tree that size, Henry.”
“Who said anything about ‘need’?”
Emma groans and rolls her eyes.  “Promise me you two are not going to blackout the town.”
Henry glances over his shoulder and meets Killian’s eye, and they develop matching impish grins.  “I would, Mom,” he says blithely, “but it's bad form to make promises you don't intend to keep.”
