There was a tweet while back said; ‘𝗪𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 ‘𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲’ 𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗰𝗼𝗺𝘀. 𝗜’𝗺 𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲! 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆’𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝘂𝗺𝗯! 𝗜 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲!’ And I FELT that.
So, I made this post because I too, love older characters in romcoms (idk I feel like the story will be more mature and has better conflicts and not solemnly based on attraction and they don’t pissed me off with clownery).
@ When Harry Meets Sally (1989) you’ll ALWAYS BE FAMOUS 🥺♥️
"My love won't hurt you" was what Naruto was trying to message Sasuke, that he shouldn't be afraid of love, this time it won't hurt.
Sasuke made Naruto strong just by his existence. Sasuke became an extremely valuable target for Naruto, giving him an incredible source of resources to keep going.
Sasuke has always been vulnerable. A vulnerable child trying to impress his father. A vulnerable brother who followed what he was told. Naruto's vulnerable friend who gave his life for Naruto. During shippudden, he was still vulnerable. And his vulnerability inadvertently shows up when he's with Naruto. Because Naruto makes him feel safe. Naruto's presence makes him feel safe, and once he feels safe his true self comes to life again.
That's why he was so desperate to end his relationship with Naruto. Because Naruto was a threat to his “defensive” self. And I think Sasuke was trying to play the role of a person that he was not. He tried to be what his brother told him to be. And at the end of Vote 2 he just wanted to die, because he saw no point in living. And the people who claim that Sasuke tried to kill Naruto are so wrong, imo, in fighting Naruto, he was fighting with himself, with the part of himself that Sasuke did not want to exist - the "weak" - loving, caring - vulnerable part. Because Naruto's existence yet his presence alone makes Sasuke "weak".
And Naruto offered him unconditional love and support - no matter what kind of love. There is no "if" in Naruto's love for Sasuke, it just is. Only with Naruto, Sasuke didn't have to play roles, but could be himself. Because he felt safe. And it's extremely important.
Neopets discourse is always funny to me because whenever drama starts up 90% of the time it's over something that's just objectively really silly
For example, right now there's neo-billionaires threatening to quit the site over a rare item being released, which wouldn't be funny except the item in question is a tiny pea wearing a Santa hat
best trope is the one where the character’s godlike power is also killing them btw. they don’t even lift a hand to kill the monster but now they’re delirious with fever. they save a friend’s life and said friend immediately finds them emergency medical care. they raze the enemy to nothing and it takes far too long to find their pulse with all the bruising. their friends just constantly having to patch them up and worrying over which feat will be their last. et cetera
I love you “unlikeable” female characters I love you rude girls I love you mean women I love you girl interpretations of the “Asshole with a Heart of Gold” trope I love you women who get labeled Cold and Unfeeling I love you girls who lash out I love you women who lie I love you female characters who make people mad just by existing
Sasuke’s love for Naruto is so tender. Even tho I think they love each other equally strong, I somehow think their love for each other differs; Sasuke loves Naruto tenderly, there is hurt in his love for Naruto. Naruto loves Sasuke fierce-fully, loudly, aggressively (not violently, but I see Naruto’s love as aggressive, all consuming, can’t-live-without-you kind of love). Despite all of that, there is so much comfort, patience, understanding, thoughtfulness, care in Naruto’s love for Sasuke. And Sasuke’s love is so tenderly delicate, so tearfully overwhelming. Their love is the most beautiful portrayal of love. There is something in their love that can never be found anywhere else.
