Ok autism ramble post! I NEED to talk about Dark on Netflix, I never hear anyone in irl talk about it and it deserves so much attention and praise and analysis and obsession. I will try my best not to give any spoilers, not sure I even could that’s how hard to explain it is.

It has time travel, it has the apocalypse, impending environmental disaster, family trauma, one of the greatest modern love stories imo, it has tragedy and joy and grief and anguish, it has hope, it has a watch/clock maker, father son relationships, accidental baby acquisition, a car crash, it has conspiracy theorists, a murder mystery, coming of age but with a twist, it has friends to lovers to what could have been to enemies, it has races against time, it has rebellion, it has adultery, vigilantes and a boy with the fate of the world on what feels like his shoulders alone all in no particular order or in a very specific one depending on how you look at it

Essentially it starts out with this kid who follows his older brother and sister and friends into the woods, the stumble into this cave some events occur and then the little boy is nowhere to be found. The eerie thing is that the boys uncle disappeared and was never found similarly a certain important number of years ago. The main character is Jonas who’s in love with the boys older sister, Jonas’ father killed himself over the summer break. Soon weird shit starts happening in the town, more characters are focalised. Then suddenly we’re in the 80s the boy stumbles out of the cave and meets his teenage parents. From there things get increasingly insane, Jonas meets this dude from the future who basically who basically turns his entire worldview upside down.

It is written masterfully and acted with pure talent and skill, I cried I laughed I gasped I sat in silent awe and confusion. Every time you think you’ve figured something out everything is flipped upside down again in the best way. It’s by far the best show I’ve watched it’s a work of art, you could probably watch it 10 times and still have a garbled understanding of it and it’s beautiful. It’s not an easy watch you have to think and really pay attention but if you’re up to the challenge it’s so so worth it! So pls I beg of you if any of this even slightly piqued your interest watch DARK!

I found out about they/them Frankie, gay Velma, and whatever happened in owl house (not my show but my mutuals were losing it) all in the span of a couple hours. I cannot tell you how good this was for my mental health.

I watched the 1st episode of g3 monster high. The body diversity. Folks’s bodies do weird things and it’s not a problem! It’s not weird! Frankie can swap out their limbs like it’s nothing, and it’s seen as a positive thing!

The amount of good that this has the potential to do is mind-boggling. This is what I needed to see, growing up. That different bodies are valuable. Dolls that have body shapes like mine exist. Characters have more to them than their storylines.

We’ve got they/them double trouble from she-ra too. There is queer rep in children’s media, and it’s portrayed as completely normal. There are diverse body types and skin tones in children’s media, and it’s portrayed as completely normal.

4. What is something about your writing style that you’re really proud of?

A lot of people have complimented me on my dialogue, so I'm gonna go with that. Just something about watching a back and forth between two people is so fun to do. Some of my favorite writing challenges was where I was restricted to only tell a story with the dialogue alone, and the dynamics you can get from that.

Some of my favorite dialogues:

12. Favorite ship you’ve written/the ship you write for the most?

Technically speaking, I don't write ship fic unless you count reader-inserts and OC inserts. If we count those, Mitsuhide banter is fun to write when I do him with reader-inserts (which bleeds into the way I write Nokto, since they do have a lot of similarities, it's just fun to write their teasing banter).

If we're talking about OC ships, then that goes to Mitsunari and Houki, whom are the most recent I've written about the most (two published fics and a wip wednesday, the two of them walking home together when I wrote her interacting with Ieyasu in a different fic, some stuff that I haven't posted yet, etc.)

Apropos of all my musings about queer temporality and rejection of reproductive futurity etc etc I simply do not believe Kanej would ever have kids sorry. To my mind Kaz was born to be your dad's dubious, extremely rich friend who gives you a wodge of cash on holidays and birthdays, and Inej was born to offer to kill your ex and take you home when you're drunk and missed curfew and MUM WILL BE SO MADDD. To all Dregs-related children they're like the weird aunt and uncle who burn movies illegally onto DVDs for you, teach you to swear, let you eat loads of sugar, and then dump you back on your actual parents in order to shirk the consequences of all the sugar and swearing. All kids have to be sixteen before you get the 'so not only is Kaz in organised crime, he basically IS organised crime' chat. They hit your ex boyfriend's car. They bought you a pony. They said they'd bail you out of jail and you didn't think they were joking. Etc.

I know I have a semi-popular post about how Gale would not have made a good teacher and that's why I'm so happy that it does happen canonically. It shows so much growth in him: not only does he learn to love himself regardless of his magic ability, that love extends to others. He can now educate students in the field of magic that has always clearly been his true favourite without being "irked by their ineptitude". He shares the art he loves and his enthusiasm, talent, and newfound patience make him a great teacher. With Tav by his side he becomes a happier, less guarded, more caring person and I can't think of anything better for him.

i think it's cute how after their bathroom fight is over they're last seen with their stickers in hand. tom was holding tight to them the whole time— greg, at some point in the slapping session, let them fall, but he picks them right up again. stares at it. oh the symbolism.

It can be hard dealing with the fact sometimes that I can spend months on a comic that gets four thousand notes only for a funny story I wrote up in less twenty minutes to get twenty thousand. But asks like this remind me that I make comics for people like you, who really cherish them.

I just saw a Rwde claiming that we fans use Monty's name as a way to bash critics of the show. Really? You guys are the ones who have used his name as a way to validate your criticism by claiming everything after his death was against his wishes even when CRWBY (Monty's friends, meaning they actually knew him) said otherwise. That's something you've been using against us fans for years, so don't pretend like it's us who have been doing it now. Stop projecting. You created the Rwde tag for the sole purpose of bashing the show and it's fandom. You all would be hating on him personally if he was still alive and the show had turned out the same way and you know it. We love Monty and wish he was never taken from us, and we also want what remains of him to stay, so we don't lose him a second time. We won't let you take RWBY from us without a fight.
