I wanted to check out another lone ranger comic which is about tonto, but Ion have any motivation. thinking about rewatching one flew movie, but I'm afraid that if I rewatch it for too many times it'll become average to me. I'd fucking love to reread the book because it once made me feel so alive and feeling like I'm alive is a vital need for me. but I have too many projects to do and I'd rather spend my free time watching a movie because it's really hard for me to concentrate on books

Can I ask you to ramble about your current hyperfixation?

I am always up for some rambling! Thank you for the ask!!

Unfortunately for my non-fandom followers, my hyperfixation has not changed for the past two and a half years. (All mutuals now groaning, ‘Shut up about the Stand, Mouse.’) I still cannot explain my extended fix; usually I'm a year tops. Hook onto a character, appease the yearning rats, move on. Not this time…

This may have to do with the fact that the Fandom is smaller. Other fixations, I could casually scroll Tumblr for fan art, find stories to scratch the itch on AO3, and passively ride the wave until something pulled me in another direction. Couldn't do that here. There were like 11 stories for ‘the Stand’ that even tagged Glen Bateman as a character. Some of them were prior to the version of Glen that took up residence in my brain (2020 miniseries), and none of them had him as a primary focus. What's a girl to do, right? Write also turned out to be the answer. So this was the first time I was writing and posting fanfic to AO3. About 290k words later, and almost a year of digging into their characters, here I am, stuck on the same damn guys. The rats are still yearning, and I have no further way to appease them. (Although, I'm sure they will thank you for indulging them now.)

But yeah, still 100% hooked on Stephen King's ‘the Stand’, and specifically the newest 2020 miniseries version. I blame Kinnear's version of Glen. He's a great character in the other versions, but the stars aligned with his take. Witty. Intelligent, but with a cheek and lightheartedness. Logical, yet open to the new world of the unknown. Questioning, but true to himself and loyal to those around him. Speaking his mind, and saying what he believes, regardless of the danger it poses. (And this is not even touching the vaping, which is a fantastic touch, and definitely a way to my heart as well.) Plus, I've always loved Kinnear as an actor, just never saw him in a role where I connected to his character like this. I truly was doomed from the start.

And that's pretty much how it went too. The first damn scene he’s in, and I'm instantly hit with the ‘holy fuck, I love this character’ K.O. punch. Cause that's what I really need for a hyperfix to stick, love for a character.

Then the end of that same episode. This look…

I could go on for days about this look. A ‘Man of Science’ facing the reality of the previously unbelievable. His world view shaken, and now left to piece the puzzle back together. Tear down what he ‘knew’, and start looking at things from a new perspective. This single moment where the world changed for him. It's just… 🤌

I love this fictional man. He has hijacked my brain, and honestly, not really seeing a problem. He can stay as long as he wants. I'll give him some paints, and he can chill up there making fun commentary about life. Maybe give some helpful insight.

But yeah, the Stand still top hyperfixation for me. I have a love of the story as a whole too, don't get me wrong. Read the book, have the ‘94 series, picked up the comics… And other characters have worked their way into my heart too (Lloyd Henreid, I'm talking about you), but Glen was, and still is, the reason I'm here so long after.

Was that rambling enough? Too much? I have no gauge. But I will always elaborate if asked. Do not be afraid to ask, this is why I'm here!!

Episode 20 - The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya, Part 1

Shit. She's sighing. RED ALERT. ALL HANDS ON DECK. ENTERTAINMENT SQUAD TO YOUR BATTLE STATIONS.

That's a funny way of saying "After Yuki killed Ryoko so hard that her corpse disintegrated." Kyon is narrating so it's not like he needs to keep pretense up.

I think this is for his own emotional wellbeing. He doesn't want to think about the fact that we fucking killed a person. He's convinced himself of the official Moved To Canada story so he can sleep at night.

I'm convinced that Haruhi is neurodivergent. She excels both athletically and academically, but doesn't pay attention in class and is solely concerned with whatever her latest hyperfixation is. I see a lot of myself in her, and not just because she's a self-involved asshole.

HAHAHAHAHAHA The way she gets target lock as she prepares to "accidentally trip" and dump tea on her patsy. Goddammit, Haruhi. Why is this even a thing you want? I don't know. But it's everyone else's problem now. Such is the way of Haruhi.

Haruhi finally beginning to become at least a little disenchanted by her abducted trash boy. It's okay. We've all made bad choices.

She didn't, and instead moved on to her plan to make her own movie instead out of spite. But.

Hope-ful-ly, Haruhi knowing that she's creating fiction means she won't unconsciously manifest it into reality.

After Izuku has been particularly reckless, Sero takes advantage of his quirk, wraps Izuku in bubble wrap, and tapes it there

Tsu is a vent gremlin, and you can’t change my mind. So she and shinsou will play a game where they try to find each other. Tsu is in the vent and shinsou is in the classrooms. Shinsou will try to find whichever vent she’s in, or she’ll find whichever classroom he’s in, in 20 minutes or less

I always headcanoned tsu as a dog person, so they’d have two cats and two dogs, and a bunny that they named Deku

They like comparing their friends to animals, hence the bunny, Deku

Kamideku:

Kaminari is a flirt, and izuku does n o t know how to handle it

Kaminari likes listening to izuku’s ramblings, and can keep up with them. He’ll ask questions on things too, and Izuku has never felt more appreciated

I don’t know why I feel like they’d have so many animals, but I do. They’d have so many, man. Three cats, two dogs, four sugar gliders, a hamster

Adhd power couple. They hyperfixated on complimentary things at the same time one time

Kaminari tutors izuku in English, and izuku turots kami in some other subjects. He’s also teaching kami JSL on the side. Kaminari has a live of languages

Momochako:

Study dates, Momo asks ochako to quiz her a lot

Ochako takes to floating momo’s things when she wants attention. Especially when Momo is studying. She makes a game out of how many things she can float until the other girl notices

Uraraka’s confidence does wonders for momo’s. Uraraka always makes sure to reassure momo that she is strong and that she can do this

Momo makes Uraraka whatever her heart desires. Uraraka blushes all the time, and momo takes great pride in getting her girlfriend to blush

Minatoru:

Mina clings to everyone, but especially to toru

They give each other stuffed animals so often. They’ll go to the store to get food, and come back with three stuffed animals that reminded them of each other

They will play hide and seek, I stand by this.

Mina helps toru design a new costume. I hate hers, it’s horrible, and sexist, and not suitable for a fucking child

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, but study dates. they quiz each other, and it actually gets pretty competitive

They also have rage room dates. I will not budge on this. Iida tried to murder someone, and I am excited to see momo finally snap. She deserves it

They alternate paying for dates, don’t try me.

The go hiking a lot

They started liking each other after one late night, both having nightmares. Momo had tea, and offered some to Iida. They talked until the early hours of the morning

They can’t flirt. They try. But they’re horrible at it. They’ll compliment each other all day long, but they cannot flirt.

KIRIDEKU, MY BELOVED:

They train together, obviously

They ran into each other one night in the common room after both having nightmares. They talked about middle school, how they were both bullied, izuku’s quirk coming in late, katsuki being abusive, kiri being bullied because his quirk wasn’t “cool.” After that, they were practically inseparable.

They started going on dates, not that either of them knew they were dates. The entire class knew, so did the teachers, so did the rest of U.A. Kirishima picked up on it first after a comment from Mina, he had is realization.

So, he started courting Izuku. Not thag izuku realized this. He brought him flowers on most ‘dates,’ he bought him hero action figures whenever he could, he complimented him until Izuku was red in the face (which was honestly very easy.) Still, izuku remained ignorant to the fact that he was indeed dating Kirishima.

The final tipping point, was due to Uraraka’s help. She was quite tired of watching the two of them pine for each other. It was amusing for the first couple months, watching Kirishima try so hard, and Deku being totally oblivious. However, she took pity on her friends after a while.

So, Uraraka devised a devilish plan to get the two together. She involved Mina, Sero, and kaminari in this plan. What was the plan, you ask? Oh, simply to trap the two in one room until they broke through izuku’s obliviousness.

Kirishima finally “straight” up admitted his feelings, to which Izuku had the sudden realization of “oh my gods, have we been dating this whole time??” Yes, Izuku. Yes you have.

They have two anniversaries after that.

Let’s be honest, they are really, annoyingly, horrifically lovey dovey. Kirishima brags about having “the manliest and bestest boyfriend in the world.” Izuku flaunts his many PowerPoint presentations on how talented and incredible Kirishima is

Uraraka doesn’t know if she did the right thing by helping them. She is so tired

Tsujirou:

Jirou makes playlists for tsu

The few sane ones in class A, I swear

They go on walks in the rain as often as they can

They go for dates in the bookstore too. They each pick out an album and a book for the other to listen to and read

Y’all, they make so much sense togetherrrrr, I’m love them 🥺

Jirou started liking tsu after the crew saved bakugou. Jirou sat with tsu after momo, Iida, kirishima, Todoroki, and izuku apologized and sat with her. They had movie night, and Jirou joined the Bakugou saving crew and tsu with taking well into the night. She just appreciated how much tsu cared

Tsu started liking Jirou after she helped Iida, momo, and izuku try to keep the class in order. She appreciated how diplomatic and calm she was

Jirou would talk to izuku all night long about how gay she was, and how adorable tsu was. So, izuku decided to try and suggest ways for Jirou to ask her out.

She did not end up getting to ask her out though, as Tsu walked up to her the next morning f and asked if she wanted to go on a date. Jirou said yes. Izuku cried

Izujirou:

They make playlists for each other

They go for runs on the beach a lot

They both have insomnia, and often spend time making blanket forts and talking, or FaceTiming and listening to music

Jirou walks into the common room once a week looking for new music. She started liking Izuku after he made a playlist for her for one of these occasions.

They’re both quite awkward when it comes to romance, but neither of them will shy away from facing the truth. So, Jirou made izuku a playlist filled with love songs that reminded her of him and sent it to him. Sadly, izuku is dense as hell.

So, then Jirou wrote a love song and told izuku that the song was for him. Sadly, izuku is dense as hell.

So, then Jirou write analysis about izuku’s quirk for him. Sadly, izuku is dense as hell

So, then, after thinking that Jirou had done so much for him, izuku made her a playlist filled with love songs. Jirou took this to mean that izuku had finally picked up on her feelings, and accepted them.

So, they started to go on dates. Not that izuku knew this, as he is dense as hell. All leading up to izuku finally confessing his feelings on one of their ‘dates,’ to which Jirou responded, “dude, we’re already dating? Aren’t we? I- I thought that was obvious??”

May this awkward couple be forever blessed

Tokoyama:

Goth/prep boyfriends, we love to see it

At least once a day, Aoyama will proclaim that Tokoyami “shines almost as bright as he does, in his fabulous emo way”

They sword fight, and come up with really dramatic scenarios and scenes that they’re in

They bond over being in the izucrew and their shared love of swords. Aoyama took fencing classes in middle school, and Tokoyami got into sword fighting after watching it in pirates of the Caribbean as a young child. He is self taught and watched countless videos on the art of sword fighting

Tokoyami asked Aoyama our by dramatically presenting him with a dagger and going “will you accompany me on a formal outing as my lover?”

Shinyama:

They flirt constantly

No really, it’s getting quite annoying. Someone please stop them.

They both plop down in random areas and proclaim their deaths, the difference between them, is that Aoyama will burst into shinsou’s room, and yell “love, I’ve been murdered. Mourn for me” while plopping down on shinsou’s lap. Shinsou can be found laying face down outside aoyama’s door, and when Aoyama goes to open the door, he just goes “I’ve been murdered.”

^^ one time, shinsou did a very fun Halloween prank for this, where he poured fake blood all over himself for Aoyama to find him an hour later, asleep.

Nap dates. Aoyama get glitter all over shinsou’s room

Iiyama:

Aoyama enjoys making Iida blush, obviously. But he takes joy in doing it specifically when class is about to start. Aizawa is tired of his shit

Here is how I think an iiyama conversation might go:

Aoyama: I ask for one thing in this relationship-

Iida: Aoyama, you know that’s a lie-

Aoyama: for my boyfriend to carry me around all day-

Iida: Aoyama, I cannot feasibly do this with class-

Aoyama: and I don’t think that’s too much to ask for 😤

Anyway, Aoyama got carried around all day that day, despite Iida’s blush and Aizawa’s eye twitch

Everyone in the izucrew is close, but Iida and Aoyama started to get close after Iida told the crew about Stain. Aoyama wanted Iida to know that he wasn’t alone, and that he wanted to help him. So he started packing extra cheese for lunch and giving it to Iida. Iida was very confused at first. But this was Aoyama trying to court him. This was only made apparent by momo and Jirou telling Iida that this was aoyama’s attempt at expressing romantic interest.

Aoyama flirts with everyone, that’s just who he is. But with Iida? Oh it was tenfold. The poor boy was red in the face constantly. Aoyama was a persistent little bugger too, following him around and calling him ‘mon amour’

Kirikamideku:

My dearest traffic light trio, I’m love them

They train together, and kiri and kami always appreciate izuku’s analysis snd ideas

Kiri falls even more in love with izuku and kaminari when they go off on rants. Izuku rants and kami can keep up with him so he asks questions about it. Kiri loves to watch his boyfriends go on rants, I don’t make the rules, but I do enforce them

They started to get closer after kami and kiri found bakugou causing a ptsd flashback (could be on purpose of an accident, up to the reader.) they stated with him and tried to talk him through it. After this, izuku started to tell them about having been a “late bloomer” and being bullied, etc. (I don’t know, man; I tend to over share after flashbacks and after panic attacks)

Izuku tutors them in several subjects, but kami tutors them in English. Kiri just falls in love with his smart boyfriends

Izuku is teaching kami JSL and kami is helping izuku with English and Italian (personal headcanon that Italian has been one of kami’s special interests) kiri loves to listen to them, and finds it relaxing and calming to hear them do this. When he has panic attacks, he’ll ask them to tutor each other in different languages

a bit of a ramble about my body, gender, and general appearance headcanons for them bcuz someone sent me a curiouscat prompting this 3k words of hyperfixation nonsense

Komaeda:

- He has a naturally lithe body, with a thin waist, broad shoulders and hips, which give him an hourglass. and a rather andrognyous body, which is "lucky" for him, because I hc him as nonbinary and gender non-conforming

- Gender-wise, as I said, I think he's nonbinary. Usually I do view Nagito as AMAB but I indulge in transmasc Nagito from time to time depending on my preference and how much I wish to uh, well, project, lol. But either way I think he would use he/they pronouns in a western sense. In japanese, however, they don't use third person pronouns that other people refer to them with, and in canon he uses the first person pronoun "boku", which is a "soft" masculine pronoun, in comparison to the "hard" masculine pronoun, “ore” (which Hajime uses btw!) which fits quite nicely, in my opinion! Also, in Japanese, you can be 'fluid' with your first person pronouns depending on the situation, so I think he could use more neutral or feminine pronouns should he desire it, too, to play on his gender non-conformity.

- Komaeda is very secure in his gender, regardless of being AMAB or AFAB. He does not care about stigma, or discrimination, he does not care about being "accepted" by broader society. Broader society is sort of meaningless to him, the average person and their ideas about gender and presentation and effeminity mean NOTHING to him. Whether or not a random person the street genders him correctly or treats him with respect is sort of, pointless? Because to him, most ordinary people are pointless nobodies. Their thoughts do not matter to him. I think he is still prone to insecurity, however, when around his "betters" but I just struggle to think he would degrade himself in regards to gender. to him, it's the least of his problems. what he cares about is hope and talent. He could dress femininely or wear makeup or straight up crossdress and not mind it, really. He thinks people would find a problem with it are the problem, because why does it even matter? It speaks to the way Komaeda is detached from societal norms & "normal" people, he did not grow up in normal circumstances, so he doesn't interact with the world normally by any means. he can mask and act normally to the best of his ability, often unintentionally?, but he simply does not fit into broader society and doesn't seek to.

- Komaeda loses weight really easily, and doesn't gain weight that well. This is mainly due to his many illnesses but also the medications he's been put on. He has a low appetite and burns weight rather easily, even though I headcanon that he eats like garbage (mainly junk food & takeout, since he obviously cannot cook). This makes him overall, health wise, not very healthy, and stick thin because of it. A stiff breeze could knock him over, tbh.

- He has a lot of faded scars, self-inflicted or not.

- Pre-despair (in HPA) he is fairly healthy but still lithe, and progressively his body deteriorates through his 2 years of hopes peak before the Tragedy begins.

- During the Tragedy itself, his body is at it's worst. he is almost nothing but bone at times, barely kept together by a need to live so he can see hope triumph. His weight fluctuates but he's very unhealthy. He's not anorexic or on death's door, but he's not well off, either.

- After being put into the neo world program, right after waking up, he's very, very thin and gaunt. he was in a pod on feeding tubs for an indiscernible but at least probably a month's worth of time? So he's just very weak, like he could collapse if he moves too quickly.

- But a while after waking, he goes into remission, and starts to gain more healthy habits due to being rehabilitated and cared for by Hinata, and gains some weight, finally at a healthy, normal weight. I still think he would struggle with putting on too much weight, but I am slightly fond of the idea that he gets a bit of healthy pudge after a while. To him, it's so foreign being healthy, that he honestly think something's wrong with him at first.

Hinata:

- Hinata has a very... average body, true to form. His hips and waist aren't too pronounced but he has a loosely "hourglass" shape, too, just not as exaggerated as Komaeda's in comparison.

- Gender-wise, I am EXTREMELY fond of transmasc Hinata. While I think I portray AMAB Hinata more than transmasc Hinata (in art and writing), I still firmly prefer transmasc Hinata. The reason I think portray otherwise more is just out of comfortability, but I've been getting better at comfortably portraying FTM Hinata. I have some reasons I prefer it and think you can extrapolate it from canon, but let's get into that

- Hinata, in my eyes, has an arc and story that fits perfectly into him just. Being trans. His desire to be someone else, someone better, someone he can proud of, and the way he overcompensates for himself and has an extreme inferiority complex would easily lend to him having similar feelings about his gender. To me, Hinata is a trans man who overperforms his masculinity out of insecurity and a need to pass. I see him as someone who would strictly use "he/him" in a western sense, which is lended to by his use of the "ore" pronoun in canon, which is almost hypermasculine.

- Even if he were AMAB, I think it still works, I think he's still someone who's insecure and tries to assert himself more strongly and therefore performs masculinity in a way to appear more confident than he is.

(side note: I actually read a bit about queerness in Japan and how it relates to gender performance and the use of pronouns, and read a bit about how queer women in japan tend to use "boku" and "ore" to perform masculinity, which I find neat. “Ore” was also sometimes used exclusively to show anger and dominance, which is why it's categorized as a "rough" pronoun. I think Japanese language, gender, and expression, and how those all relate to one another, are extremely interesting and if you get the time you should read about it lol)

- Body-wise, pre-despair, I think Hinata would. not have top surgery, obviously. I think he has a fairly average but leaning a little on the hefty side chest (pre-op) and binds it, hence the '91 cm' (but also he still has 91 cm post-op because bazongas). I also just think he leans on the "twunk" side of things at this point, not buff but not stick thin or without muscle, just kind of average with average strength and all, though I think Hinata would've tried to do sports and stuff to find his talent so he's in shape :)

- My personal, kind of amusing, but also kind of... thematical? Headcanon, is that during the Kamukura project, he also underwent gender transition. to be honest, while it may not make sense in modern Japan, I think we can suspend our disbelief for fiction, and also make the argument that Hinata's "transition" into Kamukura CAN be read, in some part, as relatable or at least familiar to the trans experience. Iit is not out of the realm of possibility, either, to assume that because many bits of society in Danganronpa are advanced (specifically science, is extremely ahead of our understanding, almost sci-fi like at times) certain attitudes about gender and sexuality can be smoothed over more in a Japanese context.

(side note: I also think that science-wise, we can suspend our disbelief, and assume that top surgery and bottom surgery are much more advanced in this universe, given the almost unbelievable levels of science in Danganronpa, such as memory wipe, mind control, completely realistic virtual simulation, um literally everything about Kamukura which is body modification and brain modification to an extreme, etc. I think it's kind of fitting within these to assume that... Hinata/Kamukura could just, gain a functioning penis, lol)

Kamukura:

- Kamukura would have a. "Perfect" body. it's stated, I'm pretty sure, that they modified not only his brain but his body, because he needs to be able to perform every talent under their belt with ease, and his strength, instincts, technique, are all superhuman. So it's clear to me he'd have a buff body. toned muscles and all. He wouldn't really feel a need to keep it up, though, but I think since they're very... artificial (basically fucking steroids?) they wouldn't fade from a lack of keep-up.

- Kamukura also rarely ever is injured, but when he does, his body heals rather fast and can care for himself adequately, because again, his body is modified to a point of almost inhumanity.

- Gender wise, Kamukura genuinely does not care. however, I am not one to think that Kamukura is "a different person" from Hinata, rather, he is separate from Hinata, but an extension of Hinata as well, proven that he experiences some of his emotions even if subconsciously and without understanding them. he isn't a different personality or person developed in Hinata's body, but a very traumatizing, repressed, and manipulated version of Hinata given a new name, with memories repressed. He's like Theseus's ship in human form---if you get rid of everything that makes someone themselves and replace it, bit by bit, is it the same person? Technically, yes, but... truly? Who knows. 

Because of this, I think Kamukura would have a leaning toward masculine gender performance (in canon, in fact, he uses the soft masculine pronoun "boku" in stead of "ore" like Hinata) BUT I think he is still very nonbinary. In a western sense, i think he would use he/they pronouns, but not really care if someone mistook him for a woman, I suppose.

- His appearance, unironically, is very nonbinary or "he/they" to me because he's wearing a suit, the archetypal form of masculinity, but has extremely long hair, which is considered feminine, and speaks softly (dully). Of course, the bishounen "pretty boy" appearance isn't uncommon or considered less masculine in japan, I think, but there is still a different between soft masculinity and rough masculinity in japan, which lends itself to being interpreted sort of gender non-conforming by western audiences :)

- Kamukura, due to his apathy, struggles with self-maintaining, but as we all probably know i am extremely attached to KamuKoma and thus headcanon that Servant helps him, sort of like a royal servant would royalty in the old days, take care of himself by bathing him, brushing his hair out, grooming him, etc. partially out of duty, partially out of appreciation for Kamukura's body, and partially out of maintaining his sort of "perfect" look since Kamukura, especially post-Junko death, is perceived widely by the public as the new leader of the ultimate despair, even if he is ambivalent to such a title.

Post-DR3 Hinata/Kamukura combined:

As I rambled on about previously, I don't think that Kamukura and Hinata are separate people or personality, I really dislike the interpretation that they are like a "split personality" or operate like DID, because they do not "form" like DID, but also in canon, are not portrayed as separate people.

In post-dr3, Hinata instead says that he is both of them, because he is. Kamukura is Hinata, always was, but had been given a new, false identity, had been stripped of his previous self, his memories, his personality, and crafted into something new. but that did not "split" his brain into two people. It simply repressed who he once was, and made him someone he now was. But when Kamukura regains his memories, his past self, through the means of the new world program by restoring his own memories after SDR2 concludes and he wakes up, as well as doing the same for everyone else, he decides to be "Hajime Hinata" who he always was, but carrying and shouldering the weight of what "Izuru Kamukura" had been, become, and done. Hinata *is* Kamukura, he answers for Kamukura's wrongdoings, his crimes, as something he had done as a different person who's mind operated differently, due to being artificially suppressed, modified, into an apathetic tool for the scientists who made him, and later and aimless, bored individual who simply sought meaning he did not have in the unknown of what despair would be at it's climax. And if hope could overcome it.

As such, I think, when Hinata's self is brought back into the mix, and he now deals with Kamukura's apathy and boredom in part, but much less consuming and much less often, I think hinata is less staunchly "masculine", does not overperform it anymore, and is trying to understand what his past means to him, what his present is, and what his future will be. I think that Hinata would still primarily use he/him (or still use "ore" in Japanese, as it's also a means of his personality, which is a bit rough around the edges and blunt), but be more ambivalent to rigid gender expression, still finding comfort and idealness in masculinity, but not be made dysphoric or feel frightened, uncomfortable, with non-comformity or anything like that. being boyish, masculine, is what he enjoys, but he's comfortable in it now, doesn't need to prove himself or overperform it. He can explore nonconformity without feeling like his gender or masculinity is at threat, even if it's not his preference outright.

Body-wise, I think it's safe to say he retains Kamukura's muscle and all, but Kamukura didn't put much effort into the everyday machinations of being a human being in general, and Hinata is much more fond of food than him now, eats more often, and I enjoy the idea that he gains a little pudge and has a kind of "dad bod" almost, post-DR3? lol.

Both for Hinata and Kamukura I don't see their bodies as “bara” or overly buff, masculine, but a kind of comfortable middle ground between twunk and hunk, lmao. I think they're also averagely hairy, not overly so, very lightly. kind of well groomed, and all. Hinata, pre-despair, put not so much effort into his appearance but still some, especially in trying to pass. (In fact I think his hair cut looks like a home job, all choppy and stuff, which fits him in my opinion, something done by his own hands even if messy and imperfect, he still prefers to be in control of it. also fits the trans headcanon tehe).

Izuru put very little if any effort into himself, only the bare minimum necessary to function, but servant helped him upkeep it to a perfect standard. Hinata, post-dr3 now, finds himself putting you know, an average amount of care into himself and his body, enough to be healthy, but not overly critical and conscious of himself.

Komaeda i have always seen as someone who takes a good deal of care about himself, merely if to alleviate the "disgust" of his appearance and body, by practically preening himself. He is someone who is good at cleaning and seems to appreciate clean and well kept spaces, so I think he would have a similar attitude toward himself. even if he is insecure, and of course, struggles with mental health and may slip at times in his routine in keeping himself well-kept, I think he still maintains an appearance for the most part, at least in his later years (teen to young adult). An argument can be made that he cared less in his adolescence because he had much more apathy about the world, but when he gave himself a purpose with hope and talent, I think he would care for himself a little better, even if his was spiralling mentally.

His hair is always washed, it is just very curly and prone to mess, so it often looks like perpetual bedhead, even when he combs and brushes it. His skin is soft even if a little worn by his tendency for accidents & injury, it's still soft and almost luckily so, and he takes pride in moisturizing and cleaning himself. His skin is a little sickly, still, and I think that despite having blemishes, scars, etc. Komaeda manages to look pretty in a strange way, not conventionally beautiful, but almost ethereal? He's just *pretty*, there's no way to explain it, he is nice to look at even with all his "flaws" and imperfections. Even when he's sickly and bony, even when his cheeks are gaunt or his hands shaky and weak, when his hair is a tangled mess or his clothes are dirty, he's nice to look at in a way that's nonconventional, and it's sort of mesmerizing.

Hinata I think is very average but also in a way that's nice to look at it. He's not ground-breaking hot or conventionally attractive, he has a good body, a nice face, and hair you could play with a little if you wanted. I think what's appealing about him is his normalcy, he's not trying too hard or "gifted" gene wise, but he's just kinda nice to look at, he's enjoyable to be around, an understanding person, or at least tries to be even when he fails, and despite having flaws, insecurities, blunt, he is someone you're drawn to because he's one of those people that's just, easy to talk to? An emotional anchor, almost. The kind of guy everyone kind of knows and has talked to at least once, even if you're not friends with him personally, not because he's cool or popular or anything, but because he's a normal dude who's easy to trust and talk to.

Kamukura, on the other hand, is intimidating, appearance wise and personality wise. he looks, strange, anything but normal, his eyes are red and his hair is this dark cloud that envelops him. His face may still be that plain one Hinata has but faces can be changed by the surrounding attributes as well as expression and such is true for him, with his apathetic and cold expression as well as otherwordly characteristics, he comes off as much more beautiful in a dark way, kind of? In a way that's intimidating or a little daunting, but he's still very beautiful. mesmerizing.

Has to stop his brothers from constantly bothering you when you’re overwhelmed (they’re just worried)

You very quickly learn his office is the safest place to be when overwhelmed due to the dim lighting and the brother deterring curse on his doorway

He has a record player and SO much classical music for when you need background noise

This leads to impromptu slow dancing when you insist he needs a break and there’s music playing

If you have your own records, the *smoother ones will end up mixed in with his

*smoother as in less staccato /distracting because he is most likely working

Very much enjoys spending time in silence with you, he finds it comfortng to just exist with someone without having anything needed of him

Especially if you’re both doing your own thing, like you just being in the room with him (playing a game or reading or smthn) while he does his paperwork is so soothing to him

Mammon:

Have you seen his horns? They’re so smooth and shinyyy, a+++ stimming material

He loves head pats so he’ll willingly put his head in your lap when you watch movies

he’s very proud of his demon form but also kind of shy so it’ll take some coaxing to get him to let you touch his horns but when he sees how content it makes you? It’s his new favourite hobby letting you play with his hair and horns during movies

(That said they’re very sensitive (like him) so be gentle)

He WILL adopt your love language and mannerisms:

if you bump people he will start knocking into you constantly, (wrists, hips, shoulders, head, any and all on random repeat)

if you like to collect and give things to people he will a. Hoard them in a little shrine (that he Denys. having) and b. Start looking for things he can give you back

If you rub textures you like you’ll find him stroking your arms/face/jumper right back (sometimes with his face, but only ever in private because he feels vulnerable using such a soft form of affection)

Levithian:

Communication is SO! EASY!

Then even If you don’t understand you can just ask. You can just ask and he’ll tell you. None of this ‘figure it out yourself’ nt bullshit

Our baby has anxiety anyway so he’s probably ‘over’ explained it before you can say anything

(Over explained in the sense of nt, personally I love it when ppl get really detailed)

In that case he gets embarrassed about how much he’s talking so it’s your turn to reassure him that he’s not boring you

The solace you get in realising you like all of his autistic traits soothes your own insecurities

That being said your anxiety (if you have it) is matchy matchy so don’t expect him to talk to the cashier for you

He’s very chill with you being non verbal because either he’s absorbed in his own game/anime/show or it means there’s more room for him to talk about his interests

That being said if your special interests/ hyperfixations don’t line up on any given day? The bickering over who’s turn it is to infodump gets intense (this is the one source of all your arguments)

All the other brothers are kind of terrified/jealous of your relationship, especially when they see you talking about a shared special interest because you talk rapid fire and very in-depth. to them it’s almost like you’re talking in code or another language because they know all the individual words but what the everloving fuck are you on about

Asmodeus:

Has specific outfits he wears when he wants you to hug him (which is always). They’re made out of the softest material, or any clothing of his you’ve expressed a texture interest in.

Finds it so amusing when you come rushing over to rub your face against his chest bc mmmmm softsoftsoft

Likes to text you in the morning to see how you’re feeling (and how sensory sensitive you are because god forbid his outfit with chains and jangles stops him from seeing you)

Understands better than Anyone that affection and love can be shown in a whole barrage of ways not just physically

Figures out how you show affection faster than any of the other brothers

Immediately starts reciprocating it (partly bc he’s selfishly trying to make you love him most)

Satan:

Will learn about your special interests so he can engage you on the topic

Is the ONLY person in the house you can talk about any special interest with, no matter how niche because he loves learning (although he does prefer the *academic* side of them rather than pop culture but he will listen to both)

*academic* as in something involving learning about something or crafting or *how* to do something, not just like, maths

You’re pretty much the only person who can keep up with him in terms of knowledge and enthusiasm (even if it’s only for very specific things) and thus you become the person he talks to about his interests

Originally kind of annoyed by how absentminded you are (because you forget several dates) but once you get settled into a routine he starts to find it cute how habitual you are, and then realises it could work to his advantage.

He then schedules a date into your weekly routine (or biweekly depending on your energy levels) so you start to get upset if it’s missed bc it’s part of your routine. (Satan is ridiculously smart and is very much willing to manipulate your routine to his (and yours) advantage, he is a demon after all)

Beelzebub:

Gives the best squishes. He’s just so big he can literally envelope you (in other news he is terrified of hurting you so he’s very nervous at first, he’s used to huggin ppl very gently bc he is a muscle mountain)

Maybe don’t use chew stims around him (unless he’s eating) because seeing you use them will either make him hungry, or he’ll ask to see it and oops it’s been swallowed hope you didn’t want that back (he’s very apologetic he really didn’t mean to but it was in his mouth and chewed before he could think)

Literally the kindest man in the universe, if you have issues with shame or *guilt* (especially if it creeps outta nowhere or it relates to not being able to do something) he will a. Reassure you and give you cuddles until you feel okay (or one on one bonding time if you’re too touch sensitive) then b. Go help with whatever task was too much so you don’t have to worry

Belphagor:

Have I mentioned the stuffies? This boy definitely has a stash of soft toys that all have names and personalities. This originally stemmed from the fact he was locked alone in an attic for a year, he needed some form of company or he was gonna go crazy, and sleeping alone is meh in his opinion. But then he became attached and after you showed him yours? And you weren’t ashamed of your teddy bears or how much you loved them he confided in you about his. (And you had a tea party)

Problems sleeping ? (Me too bud it’s 3.44 am lol) nonononno baby boy has got you, just snuggle up to him and you’ll be snoozing in no time (I HC that being around belphagor just makes you a little sleepy and the longer you’re there the stronger the urge to sleep gets)

You’re at rad (or out in public and can’t leave) and get overstimmed? Belphie has got you! He keeps sunglasses on him so he can secretly sleep when he’s not supposed to. Also (imo) he’s the king of hoodies, both his main outfits have a hood (and you can’t convince me he doesn’t wear one of them over his uniform as soon as lucifer dips), my boy will slip his hoodie on you and wrap you in a hug to get you away from the noise/sights

Hi, hello, I am Jess. I'm 29, mostly femme, any/all pronouns you literally cannot fuck my pronouns up, you also can't misgender me lmao, ADHD and autistic, and I've been on Tumblr since... Oh no. I must have been 16 or 17? Yikes. 2009, ish. With different blogs. I find it hard to maintain multiple social medias and have mostly been doomscrolling Twitter for a few years, but I always end up coming back to tumblr, I guess and let's just say my page is, right now, a bit of a WIP again because things have changed since 2020.

Anyway I am a Jess of all Trades, I do a little bit of pretty much everything. I draw, I write, I code, I do videos-- honestly, I do too much to list, so let's do some sub-lists.

About Me:

I am pro-ship, pro-expression, pro-fiction, anti-capitalism, anti-radfem, pro-kink, anti-terf and anti-swerf and big time anti-censorship. I don't believe that just because GRRM writes about twins murdering children he thinks twins should go murder children. It's art. It's a book. I believe that fiction is often an escape. Fiction is not reality.

What I Write:

Runners, for example, is three parts each with three volumes a piece. ♥ Often 'problematic'. I like dark fiction as well as happy fun times! ♥ Fanfic. Usually E-rated.

🌈 THE RAINBOW LEAGUE : It's been known since superpowered individuals first showed up that 'all supers are gay', be they superheroes or supervillains. When Kyle Jordan Kramer discovers his abilities at the ripe age of 16 and has no doubts in his mind that he is, in fact, heterosexual and cisgender, the only superhero group that will have him is the 0.5 star rated 'Rainbow League', a group made up of every jaded superhero that's ever had enough of the life of super-ing. Determined to turn the poorly rated group around and make it something special, he embarks upon a journey of discovery for himself and drags those around him along for the ride.

🏴‍☠️ QUARTZ SHORES: The seas have risen and a new golden age of piracy is upon the world. Anyway, welcome to my new hyperfixation! So obviously I decided to sort them. Description of the system I’m using here as sometimes. 

Also, the movie Wakko’s Wish has questionable canonicity, seeing as it takes place in another universe and it could said is just a movie the Animaniacs did in universe, but seeing as this was made by the same people as an excuse to give their characters a happy ending after the cancelation of the show-I’m going to say it counts for characterization. They’re pretty much the same characters, just in a different story. 

I should also mention that as toons, they’ve modeled every secondary out there, so their secondary sorting is to find their actual sorting under all the modeling and performance. 

YAKKO WARNER was the easiest to sort. He’s a Snake primary, here for his family, maybe Dr. Scratchansniff, and that’s about it. He’s the oldest, it makes sense. I mean, in Wakko’s Wish he literally gets a promotion to parent. That scene at the beginning where he and Dot are just sitting at the train station, implied to be sleeping there to, as they wait for Wakko to get home-FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR-it’s so soft and easy to forget about with later scenes but it shows how much they love him. 

Anyway, Yakko is extremely protective and needs to be around his family. His fear in the IT parody is being alone with no one to talk to him, and his first worry after is he funny is where his siblings have been. Plus, he doesn’t really show a strong preference for the rest of the primaries. 

I know that the first thought for the Animaniacs is that he’s a Snake secondary like Bugs Bunny, but remember, they’ve had every secondary as a model/performance ever. Yakko, I believe, is a Bird secondary through and though. 

Yakko has the most songs of his siblings, and seeing as a joke in the reboot was that he kept trying to sing his educational songs and he kept getting interrupted-he clearly loves doing them. Yakko’s World, Every Word in the English Dictionary, Time, Multiplication, these are things that he clearly studied for the songs and require extreme memorization (I mean every country in the world and every world in the english language??). He also almost always has his lines memorized, and his sister’s, and probably Wakko’s. Part of his problem with Nicklewise is the fact that no one is acknowledging what he’s saying, and then he’s tongue tied. One of the first things he does when he gets back to the lot is swallow a tablet and learns everything about the past 22 years. 

When describing himself in “To be like us” he literally starts it off, “To be like me? Well buddy here’s the key/use the pen not the sword when you’re in a fight.” 

When he does just charge in like a Lion he loses. Plus, dad jokes and puns are just a Bird thing. If you have a Bird secondary you are going to have an appreciation for wordplay, trust me I’m a Bird secondary. 

DOT WARNER is an actual Snake secondary. She’s the unprepared one. She doesn’t know her lines, and she didn’t practice her song on the first ladies before she sung it, which is how she learns that you cannot give a significant amount of time to each first lady in two minutes-and she didn’t even remember them all. 

This exchange is peak Bird v. Snake:

Dot: “It’s a little ditty I’ve composed detailing the accomplishments of the women behind the men...Every single first lady of the United States of America! Please put two minutes on the clock!” Yakko: “Oh, no no no no no. Hold on. You’re going to sing about every First Lady in two minutes? Have you practiced this?” Dot, possibly sarcastic but probably telling the truth: “Well no, I have not.”

She’s also the one who always uses how cute she is to get people to do what she wants. The big scene of Wakko’s Wish is Dot pretending to die so effectively that she fooled everyone but (maybe) Yakko and Wakko, and even made the guy who “killed” her feel remorse for his actions. Also, in the intro she’s described in the original as cute and in the new one as witty-which that combination feels very Snake. 

Unlike her brother Dot is a Lion primary. It might be a new addition for the reboot, but if she wasn’t originally a Lion primary I think this is just a case of character progression. In the show she calls out people for being sexist or mansplaining, and (possibly my favorite segment) has her singing about women getting the right to vote. The great thing is that this segment addresses the fact that just because women got the right to vote didn’t mean every woman could vote, because she finds out that as a toon she can’t vote. In less than a day she brings together Looney Toons and Hanna Barbera cartoons to go to Washington and lobby congress for the right to vote. And wins. 

Yeah, Dot don’t play around. Also she calls out fear-mongering (Had to fit that in somewhere). 

WAKKO WARNER (YES I KNOW HE’S THE MIDDLE CHILD BUT HE HAS THE LONGEST SECTION) was the hardest for me to sort out. Literally of course. He didn’t feel like any of the primaries to me for a while and what I really needed to look at was Wakko’s Wish. In Wakko’s Wish he’s the one telling everyone that they have to keeping hoping for something better and never give up while his siblings seem to be more out for themselves. Wakko’s the one who interacts most with the town as a whole. He gives Plotz a drink of the elixir after Plotz just tried to murder him and his siblings. There’s also a good argument to be made that Wakko wished for the ability to give everyone in the town what they wanted. He didn’t need to wish for a second ha’ penny, but he has it and it helps the town return to prosperity, which is why I rule him as a Badger primary. 

You can also notice it in the original series with how he interacts with other people, but we don’t have enough time to talk about that since we still have to talk about his secondary. Fucking hell his secondary. Wakko’s secondary is the hardest to parse out of them all. It’s opposite problem I had with his primary, he fits all of them. 

Like I said earlier, they have models for all the secondaries because they’re toons and they have to get into a lot of situations. But there are certain secondaries they favor over others which help you to see what the real secondary there is under all the models and performances. But the problem I ran into with Wakko is he uses all of them at a ready amount!

I first considered that he was a Bird secondary because of his gag bag, or the clown episode with his extremely well thought out ideas on how to torture the poor clown (don’t feel too sorry for him he’s very annoying), and segments like Wakko’s Gizmo. In Wakko’s Gizmo he builds this very overly complicated and super badass device just so he can make a whoopie cushion go off. But that was what tipped me off, it’s a toy. Wakko’s Bird secondary is just a model he has as a toy, something to have fun with (I won’t say he got it from Yakko but he got it from Yakko). Plus, Wakko’s just to intuitive and spontaneous for an actual Bird secondary. The way he uses his gag bag is just in a way where he just understands what to get. 

The fact that that he’s very intuitive with his gag bag and impulsive also set me off that he wasn’t a Badger secondary. Of all the secondaries he uses this one the least in the original series. However, interestingly, this is the only secondary he uses in Wakko’s Wish. He works his ass off for a year to make a ha’ penny to pay for Dot’s operation, he makes the wish on the star, he plays sort of a peace maker with the town and others. It’s something he used more specifically for that movie though.

The big debate was whether he was a Snake or a Lion, but-BUT-I’m gonna be kind of controversial and say that he has a Lion secondary. Yes-he’s very situational, but his go to course of action is to hit people with his mallet. Plus, the way he uses his gag bag is he just goes for it, because he feels it. He’s always in the moment, which is how he’s able to use his gag bag. Also, there’s a difference between the way Dot and he usually do things, if they were both Snake secondaries they’d look more similar, but they don’t. And he doesn’t always have what’s needed for the situation, he needs to feel around for it. I could be talked into a Snake secondary but for now I’m pretty happy with Lion.

the thing with my sleep pattern, as people have noticed i’ve been going to sleep late lately, is that.

if i don’t take any stimulant (like coffee or tea) i am ALWAYS sleepy. I end up thinking about going to sleep at 7pm and wake up at 2pm the next day. I nap a lot. I sleep through events. I’ve been sleeping through my alarms or in class when trying to be attentive without me *wanting* to do that. I am just super sleepy. Always filled with exhaustion.

But if i take even one tea or coffee during the day, i remain exhausted, but i cannot sleep at night. Like i’d stay up until 3am or 4am easy, sometimes up to 6am. Which is also kind of a problem because if i’m awake at night it tends to lead to mental spiraling down and flashbacks and freak out and all (d’you get why i relate to both hisoka and azuma, do you), which is why the alternative is me trying to look at things online when i can’t sleep to distract myself (double edged sword because if i find thing that upsets me since i’m in a more fragile state it can lead to it getting far worse). But then i will wake up late (if i can). 

When my brain is also stimulated by a hyperfixation (happens when i’m playing a new video game and can’t get enough of playing it, though it’s generally a first run only phenomena), i’m just buzzing all the time so at least it override the freakouts at nights, most of the time, but it makes me more likely to wake up early and go to sleep late because i want to play and do more and i live for that thrill once in a while.

So the thing is that, with kniroun i did fuck up my sleep schedule and because i was too exhausted due to kniroun i started to drink tea again, and now that i want to play games and stay focused on them, i drink tea again, and it keeps me awake for the day, it keeps me motivated, but it does bring me back to the :// of trying to go to sleep knowing that if i do my brain may fuck me over lmao

anyway this whole post is brought to you by the fact i woke up today after 7 hours of sleep with red eyes, which i don’t usually get, and the causes listed online for that are various and one of them is “extreme fatigue” and it’s like. First, how late it is to manifest yourself due to FATIGUE. As if i wasn’t ALWAYS fatigued. Second: it’ve been sleeping about 8 hours or more every day this week in general, it’s just that it’s different from me grabbing minium 12 to 15 hours of sleep a day, you can’t tell me that “having a regular sleep schedule” is the reason my body can’t keep up suddenly. what the fuck is this. 

anyway another alternative might be allergies so let’s hope it’s that so i don’t have to think too much about my sleeping. But it’s odd that it’s allergies while i haven’t left my home nor opened my windows in forever... but well i prefer it to be allergies than me having to put back in questions the ways i try to be a functioning human being

Tribe of Rushing Water Analysis

Since people were curious both on my thoughts about the Tribe of Rushing Water in Canon and how I’ve rewritten them in my fic Ties that Bind, here’s the massive post on it. If you read this entire thing, thank you.

Alright so I’m not much of an internet funnyman but I was an English Major and someone with a hyperfixation on the Warrior Cats series so it’s time to analyze the Tribe! The following post will include Spoilers for Watership Down (yeah the rabbit book, I’ll come back to this) and I will speak openly about the Warriors Series as a whole with the assumption that the people reading have already read the books in question. The goal of this is to discuss the Tribe’s narrative placement in the story, and what I’m doing with them in my rewrite.

Now Warriors was originally just going to be one book, and then six, and then first three books of the second arc. The weird effects this has on the narrative and tone is best explored elsewhere, but I bring this up because Midnight, Moonrise and Dawn were meant to be a trilogy ending the series. And this trilogy was based on nothing other than Watership Down, all of which is important to consider when we talk about the Tribe. The Tribe was meant to only appear briefly, which means there was no need for fleshing them out, and they are the Warriors parallel of Cowslip’s Warren.

For those of us who haven’t read Watership Down, it is a story about a bunch of rabbits who have a prediction of the destruction of their home and set out on a quest to find a new one. (Sounds familiar right?) One of the dangers they run into along the way is what originally appears to be a friendly warren run by a rabbit named Cowslip. The rabbits immediately find themselves on edge, as while this warren is exceptionally friendly there is the underlying evidence that something is wrong. When they ask questions the natives to the burrow deflect and dance around answering, and while their customs seem similar, they’re different enough to be unsettling. Behold, I’ve described the Tribe in Moonrise. And like the Tribe, the fact that Cowslip’s Warren is hiding is that there’s something extremely dangerous hunting them. Cowslip’s warren is being maintained by humans who are actively snaring the rabbits, and the Tribe has Sharptooth who is also hunting them. In fact, the snares almost kill one of the traveling rabbits, while Feathertail does end up dying to Sharptooth.

(Thank god I’m doing this on Tumblr not Twitter, god this thread would be unbearable.)

(For those who have read Watership Down, Brook is probably supposed to be Strawberry.)

So narratively, the Tribe are there to be a hinderance to the traveling cats who seem friendly and similar to them but have a danger to them that will put the traveling cats at risk. That is the role they’re meant to play, and as the series was meant to end after Dawn, the Erins didn’t need to flesh the Tribe out really beyond that.

But then money and the publishers spoke and the series continued and we returned to the Tribe except uh… huh. Honestly I kinda don’t want to get into this because it’s the same thing every time. The Tribe, who when we first meet them are described as huge and able to fight eagles, and are well adapted for life on the mountains, have encountered some problem and only the Clan cats can save them. Rinse and repeat. And as someone who has attempted to figure out the Tribe’s Allegiances, if you thought they were bad about remembering details for the Clans oh boy. For specific citations of the Tribe needs the Clans help, oh no, please see Moonrise, Outcast, Sign of the Moon, and Tawnypelt’s Clan. Sign of the Moon in particular because a Clan cat straight up choses the Tribe’s new leader. Can you imagine how the Clans would react if a Tribe cat tried that?

But it’s okay right because of the whole time-travel thing which means that Jayfeather actually founded the Tribe and named the first Stoneteller. I could write an entire essay on how much I hate this plot point, but that’s not the point here. The more important part is that some how the Tribe went from names like Stone Song, Half Moon, Lion’s Roar, Clear Sky, Gray Wing, etc. to names like Brook where Small Fish swim. I, as a white guy, don’t want to touch the racism there, I’m pretty sure other people have explained it better than I can, but the short version is that a group named the Tribe with names like Jagged Rock where Heron Nest comes off like a stereotype for Native Americans, at least from my white American experience. So, uh, solid yikes on that one, especially when those aren’t even the names they use (because of course not they’re a fucking mouthful) which gets to the world building point I’m gonna touch on instead.

The Ancients become the Tribe but somehow the names grow so long that they all have to go by nicknames that… almost resemble what Ancient names were to begin with? I understand this is because the Tribe’s naming convention got established before the time loop thing, but honestly, there is no reason they should’ve been named like that and in fact more reasons why they shouldn’t have. Between the racism and then from a writing perspective, what is the point, of having names like that if they’re never used? Like narratively it makes no sense from the start, and the Time Travel plot only makes that more obvious.

All that said, I actually super adore the Tribe! I wish they’d been handled differently in a lot of places but they had so much potential to be cool that got lost along the way. So thus, we come to my rewrite. If you’re just here for Tribe Analysis you’re free to go, but if you’re here for how I’m rewriting the Tribe than settle in.

In my rewrite the Tribe has Ancient names from the get go, because it makes more sense and allows for the Tribe to serve its original narrative function, that is, a place similar to what the Clan Cats are used enough to be comfortable, but different enough to be unsettling. The Tribe has ancestors not unlike StarClan but I have the Tribe’s worship working very differently. Stone Tellers are raised from birth to serve as a guiding force for the Tribe because they are the ones that can speak to the ancestors, and every full moon, when the Cave of Pointed Stones glows, they lead their tribe to speak with their ancestors, in something not unlike a gathering, but it is meant to be a form of remembrance, as they are sharing news with their ancestors instead.

The Tribe has very extreme views of their ancestors, refusing to take the Tribe of Endless Hunting’s name in vain. It is also believed that a Tribe cat that has passed cannot move on to the Tribe of Endless Hunting until a final task has been completed. This task is something the cat would’ve wanted to do while alive, but didn’t get to, so now one of their family, or a close friend, does it in their place. (To a reasonable extent, for example telling someone that the cat who died was in love with them, not settling down with them to raise a family because that’s what the dead cat wanted to do.) Those who have not moved on linger as ghosts. They don’t have stars in their pelts, and they don’t have the ability to see the future to warn their Tribemates the way StarClan or the Tribe of Endless Hunting do. They are capable of speaking to those who can see them, usually Stone Teller, but otherwise they tend to simply watch and wait for someone to help them move on.

The Tribe believes that the future is chosen by the Tribe of Endless Hunting, to challenge their omens is the most heretical thing a cat can do. The current Stone Teller decides a cat’s future when they are born, Cave-guard, Prey-Hunter, or rarely, the next Stone Teller. Those kits are taken by the current Stone Teller once they’re old enough to be weaned and raised in the Cave of Pointed Stones. Their name is chosen by the current Stone Teller and stripped from them when they become the next Stone Teller. Stone Teller is meant to be the ancestor’s conduit to the living and an impartial leader to the Tribe. However, not every leader can live up to those expectations, and should the Tribe begin to doubt the current Stone Teller’s capability to guide them, they can make a new cat leader. This cat would do the job of leading the Tribe, while Stone Teller continues to serve as the medicinal and spiritual leader. This rarely happens, and when it does it is rarely so clean cut, as no one particularly enjoys admitting they’ve made a mistake and need to be replaced as leader.

The Stone Teller is assisted in leading the Tribe by the head of the Cave-Guards and the head of the Prey-Hunters, these are seen as the cats that are best at that job and capable of quick decision making and good judgement calls. They often work together to organize hunting patrols and discuss issues in the territory, often presenting Stone Teller with their solutions alongside problems.

Honestly the Tribe won’t be playing a very large role in my rewrite as a whole, but since they have an entire arc dedicated to them, I wanted to make sure I had them well fleshed out. There’s a few details I’ve left out because this is long enough, but if you’re curious about anything I’ve said either about the Tribe or my rewrite, hit me up.

 @ilackallhonour​ has tagged me in this, and usually I’m really bad at actually joining in, but this one really got me thinking back on all my old fandoms and hyperfixations. I didn’t really do shipping until a few years ago, might have something to do with my recently discovered ace-ness :’)

I always had fantasies that I was part of the world of that particular hyperfixation at time. Of course very heroic and awesome, and very close to my favorite character. Alas, real life is disappointing in that regard.

Merlin/Arthur, I never watched the show when it first came out. Mostly because I can be a bit stubborn and when a lot of people keep telling me that I should totally watch something because I will love it, I refuse to watch it. Don’t know why I’m like that. Turned out, I totally did love it, and binged it like crazy. Also shipped Arthur/Merlin like crazy. Was really disappointed in the ending, and thus, turned to fic. For me, when I’m really obsessed with a show or book I just cannot let go and will read fic until eventually my fixation dies out.

The Umbrella Academy, I don’t really ship anyone, except maybe bromances, and their sibling relationships (Five and Vanya <3 Klaus and Diego <3<3). Man, I love this show, I binged it when it first came out, immediately watched again, got other people to watch it, and watched it again so I could talk to them about it some more. Of course turned to fic, but got a bit eww-ed out, because there was a lot of shipping going on and I didn’t dig it (too each their own, though).

Black Sails, uuuugh I can’t with this show. @Ilackallhonour actually got me curious about it because all the stuff she posted and reblogged. And damn, was it a life changer. I’ve always had a bit of a weird obsession with ships and that time period, but more from Dutch, and VOC perspective. Still, the setting immediately hooked me in, but I really stayed for the story, the characters…Silver. Oh damn. And Silver/Flint, oh double damn.

Sterek. Really, I can’t even say I liked Teen Wolf that much, although I did enjoy the first few seasons. But I stayed for every glimpse of Sterek I could catch. The first time Derek shoved Stiles into the wall I was screaming at my TV, NO WAY there are no people shipping that. Dude, that’s so canon it hurts! But well, the show turned into a big dumpster fire, and I found the online fandom. Got an AO3 account just so I could bookmark and comment and give out kudos so my favorite Sterek fic. And there are tons of fics. I can admit it, I was an addict. I can’t go on AO3 without drowning back in fandom hell, so I keep off it. Really, it was a problem. I was reading fic ALLLL the time. When I should’ve been working, sleeping, socializing, etc. Followed so many Sterek blogs on Tumblr, but wanted my sanity back so unfollowed them all. Sorry @andavs​, I still love your blog, and your art, and your fics sooooo much, but it was too big of a problem *sigh*

Harry Potter, of course. My favorite character was Fred, and got very upset when people tried to convince me he was exactly the same as George. NO HE ISN’T! He’s the idea guy!! Lol. It’s been a while since I’ve read the books, and not sure how much of that is true anymore. Back then I didn’t really do shipping, but now I’m a Drarry shipper, haha. The fics are just so goooood.

Gilmore Girls, duuuude. This show shaped my life. Every time I’m one a re-watch I’m like…oh thát’s where I got that from! I copied character traits and sense of humor and stuff into my own personality. Didn’t like the new episodes much, but that won’t destroy my love for the Gilmores.

Veronica Mars, same as with Gilmore Girls really. Huge impact on my life. Love the snarkiness, and yeah did have some ships in there. Actually did like the new season (though I hated the movie), but they did LoVe dirty man.

I should put Supernatural in this list too, although I feel like I abandoned the show and am not a true fan. I was obsessed with it for so long though. Those first seasons were so great, I loved the relationship between Dean and Sam (in a platonic, totally brotherly way because I do not like incest-y things) and the normal everyday hunting things part of the show. But than all the demons and angels en Gods came and I got a bit tired of the endless cycle of dying and being brought back to life, evil turned to good turned to evil turned to good thing. I’m of the opinion that shows should have an end. Just like three or four seasons, tops. Just finish it with a good, solid ending. Don’t drag it along until it dies an ugly death.

And now unto some total different things, that shaped my childhood. Hard to find a GIF for these books, but what is fandom without some cool art ^_^

 Tomorrow when the war began, by John Marsden. I was obsessed with these books, and read them over and over again, even now I’m not tired of them and could get lost in them before I finished the first page.

Wheel of Time, Robert Jordan. This series really got me into the fantasy genre back then. I had no idea of any of the fantasy cliché’s, or Arthur legends yet, so I wasn’t tired yet of all the same old tropes. I find it a lot harder now to read them, but back then I saved money to be able to buy them as soon as a new one came out, and re-read the entire series up till that point before I read the new one.

Cats the (broadway) musical. Me and my little sister watched the movie version of this show over and over again, every time focused on a different cat. We knew all the lyrics, we knew all the cats. We knew every little thing there was of them to know. We named our black cat (we ..I demanded a black cat) Misty, for Mistyfollees (she’s a girl you see, so we couldn’t name her Mistofollees). I even wrote some fic for it, haha.

(note: I tried really hard to find another GIF but there’s none) Elfquest, oooh Elfquest. This was my truest and biggest obsession, I think. I created my own elf characters, joined online RPG forums to write stories about our own characters, met up with other fans, dressed like a favorite character. A lot of the friends I have now, I met at those forums. I’m still low-key trying to collect the better-looking English paperbacks of the series, but am in no hurry to finish it, and don’t really read them anymore anyway. And my ship? Skywise/anyone, haha. I love Skywise so damn much. And his and Cutter’s relationship is everything (who’s Leetah? Fuck Leetah).

Or is this a chance to convert more people?? Nice, I haven't done that in years. So Boueibu is a light-hearted comedy about five high school boys in their school's Earth Defense Club (that has no activities) that are forced to become magical boys by a pink space Wombat (not really a wombat). A magical girl parody, basically. They get frilly outfits, embarrassing intro poses and lines and make up stupid attack names for the colorful beams they shoot at the monsters of the week. Kids in their school get turned into monsters of they fail the vibe check by the Earth Conquest Club, the trio of enemies (and their hedgehog boss) who want to reform the world to their liking (beautiful and orderly). There's a broken promise that enabled this fuckery and a bath every episode. The show does not take itself seriously for one second and is a real journey. You can still find actual messages of self-love and stuff if you know how to look though.

Second season introduces a pair of idol twins who are illegally horny for one of the main boys' big brother. At this point even the main characters don't bother taking things seriously anymore. I personally find it weaker than s1 but honestly, it's just different in tone. Different strokes for different folks.

Then there's an OVA that's basically a fanservice recap but it made me cry nevertheless and closes the story beautifully, so I still recommend it!

AND a sequel spin-off of sorts with a new cast that somehow feels like a fanfiction version of the old cast. It's still brilliant though. There are still monsters to fight and shenanigans to get into but the mascots are hotter now. No I'm not a furry.

Honestly? The humor. 100%. The jokes and the tone were what got me into it in the first place, and what kept me engaged in the actual show. I would have moved on to different things in like late 2015 of I hadn't gotten so involved with the fandom though, so I guess the actual honest answer is is the people. But about the show itself; first humor, then characters, then how s1 tied the monsters and their problems to the DC's idle chats, giving each episode a theme and a meaning.

       BANGS POTS AND PANS TOGETHER alright kids gather around for Cala needs to add Dottore as a side muse/NPC for some plots so here’s a collection of some of my weird fucking HCs on him. I’ll probably just... edit this whenever I get new ideas instead of making whole new posts, idk, we’ll see.

       0. BASIC INFO.

       Dottore is 5′10″. He’s athletic, but not particularly muscular. He is a cis male ( he/him ) who is grey-asexual and homoromantic ( though in truth he probably falls closer to being on the aromantic scale as well ). Dottore is somewhere between 27 and 33. Though he was born and raised in Fontaine, he is a direct descendent of the Lawrence clan from Mondstadt. He is a polyglot who is fluent in a majority of the spoken languages on Teyvat. This Bitch Has Mental Problems. 

       I. ORIGIN. LAMBERT PIERRE LAWRENCE is the descendent of Mondstadt’s Lawrence clan, though he himself was born and raised in a small village in Fontaine. Well-off is hardly the term to describe his family’s financial state; to describe what they had as WEALTH would be an understatement. Large was the chateau that was owned by the family, surrounded by the rolling fields of the Fontainian countryside. 

       It was a peaceful place, before Lambert was born. The boy had always been.... peculiar. Things had always been difficult with him; Lambert had a hard time keeping pace with emotions, often being cruel and brash in conversation, forgoing all manners in his interruptions and rants. Bonding was something he did not find particularly possible, never growing close to neither his parents nor his younger siblings. Fights with other children in the village broke out often when Lambert was around; And when the boy became bored these issues were ramped to the extremes. He would do anything to seek some relief from the boredom that plagued him; Anything for a scrap of entertainment.

       He found some relief in reading; Fascinated with the medical textbooks that lined the shelves of his fathers study, moving on to anatomy, to biology, to animals. It was around the age of 14 that Lambert became truly fascinated by animals. Something he had once been utterly ambivalent towards was now a hyperfixation. He’d stop for every spotted dog, he’d beg endlessly for a pet cat of his own. The farmers adjacent to the Lawrence’s property would drag the boy by his collar back to his parents after he’d gone breaking into fields and barns. The intensity of the interest was a bit odd-- but a welcome relief from his otherwise distance and cold behavior Lambert had always expressed. Thinking that perhaps the boy had finally developed an interest far more normal for his age, gently did his parents encourage him to properly ask to see the farmers animals; Even gifting the boy a cat for his 16th birthday.

       Ever one for isolation, even going on two years into his animal fixation, Lambert had always been fond of nightly walks along the outskirts of the property; Something that had always been encouraged by his parents. But as the walks became longer and longer, and as farmers began to complain of missing sheep and cattle, and even the boys beloved pet cat disappeared-- As Dottore’s behavior became more and more erratic, an eerie wariness grew within the house. 

       Just beyond the property line, nestled in a wooded area between the farmers fields, was a barn that had long since been abandoned. One night, worried that his son was the cause of these disappearances, Lambert’s father followed him on his nightly walk. The barn had been changed over the years; It’s insides refitted for the boys purposes. EERIE WARINESS GREW TO FEAR. It became the family’s secret; The monster they now housed in their home and the monstrosities he left in the night to create. Efforts were taken to curb the behavior, to stamp it out now before it spread; BEFORE IT GOT WORSE.

              NEEDLESS TO SAY, IT GOT WORSE.

       The town became aware of the barn when one of the neighbors young daughters went for a walk and discovered it and all it contained; The abominations of metal and meat that Lambert had forged and sewn, the chemicals he had mixed and the plans he had laid for something far darker, and set in motion was the series of events that would cost him EVERYTHING HE KNEW.

        The barn was investigated that day; Lambert far too busy with his studies to hear the fresh news. His nightly walks were well known by now, and who the barn and its contents belonged to was without doubt; And so that night, as the boy ventured out to the barn and began his work-               THE DOORS WERE CLOSED SHUT AND BLOCKED.               AND TORCHES SET THE WOODEN BARN ALIGHT.               AND HE FESTERED THERE AMONG HIS CREATIONS.

       ... But that was a long time ago. He doesn’t think of it much anymore.

       II. BENEATH THE MASK Lies scars from the incident that chased a young Dottore from his hometown. The scars are present all over his body, but are most prominent across his legs, back, and arms. The left side of his face and neck faced the brunt of the burns- And are, perhaps, the subject of some insecurity. He has taken a number of measures to try and reduce the appearance of these scars, all to very little avail. 

       III. THE SNEZHNAYA CAMPAIGN. Many are familiar with the campaign the Fatui held in Mondstadt to find new recruits; Few are familiar with the results of this campaign. And few outside of Snezhnaya are aware that something very similar is happening within the countries borders, as well. With the majority of it’s citizens suffering in poverty under a massive class gap, Dottore has run a campaign in Snezhnaya to encourage families to sign their young ones up for a specialized training program with the Fatui. The specifics of the program are not clarified, but the most enticing details are; Qualified families will receive a monthly paycheck, and their child will be safe, housed and warmed and fed. With so many families desperate for a lessened load of their already fragile resources, the promise of money, of safety for their struggling children... few people can deny that it’s an enticing deal. IF ONLY THEY KNEW WHAT WAS TRULY HAPPENING. 

       IV. MORALS.... this bitch has none, but I want you all to be as aware of this as possible. Children and animals are not off limits in his experiments. He can and will commit all varities of crime because his personal desires are more important than any laws or reason. All ends justify the means. He doesn’t care much for anyone who isn’t himself. He will hurt, maim, and kill literally anyone, it does not matter to him. All that matters to Dottore is relieving his boredom, feeding his curiosity, and keeping his current place in the world. He would literally rip you open and start sewing animal parts to you if someone offered him a single corn chip to do so. 

       V. PHYSICAL HEALTH... is admittedly a bit of a rollercoaster. Dottore has been performing experiments on himself for a long time- Some successful, some very far from it. Majority of days he can more than keep pace with his fellow harbingers in a fight, and yet there are others where he cannot feasibly accomplish such a task. Having long since adjusted to this, Dottore primarily relies on using drones for ranged attacks, finding this is what works best on both his best and worst days- but he does carry a knife or two on him for emergencies... or for when a bitch just rly needs to be shanked.

On Verah, part two. How I unintentionally furthered an imperialist narrative with a character meant to be an anti-imperial, ecologically conscious voice.

Note: I... May be using this term, and colonialism, incorrectly. It is entirely possible there's a more specific term for what I have in mind but I'm unsure of what it is or how to go looking for it. What I'm trying to get at is economic and ecological exploitation, humans / members of a dominant culture thinking they know what's best in every situation, and not accepting no for an answer are All Bad. Common themes in literature, right? Except these messages are often contradicted by the protagonists, implicitly, based on need or perceived threat that's built into and excused by the narrative.

Example: "Strange, six-foot tall Bug Species that we can't communicate with has discovered Extremely Volital Resource in one of Saturn's moons. After we finish liberating Sympathetic, Human-Like aliens from slavers they'll band together with us and help us neutralize this threat." Neutralize can mean a lot of different things. The end result is almost always whatever the protagonists push for as "the greater good"

In her world Verah would have a greenhouse where she experiments with crossbreeding and whatnot. In terms of what she grows to make products out of its usually fruits, vegetables, herbs, and some grains. Okay. But then you get ideas like "rewriting genetic code of oak and pine trees so they can grow in any climate and provide fuel to people in "barren" areas."

This is a problem because aside from changing the ecosystem of those places to suit human needs with what could easily turn into a focus on production and profit, it also enforces homogeny based on what a "more advanced, civilized" foreigner thinks is best. An easy, clean, Scientific way to make the natural world do whatever the hell you want is a fantastical pipedream, and the idea itself I still feel has story potential if used with a critical eye, but it... Unnerves me that for a long time there was no consideration of consequences to this and I unqestioningly made her next step to start a business.

Potential conflicts/more complex ideas:

- Fucked up plant genetics means a "harmless" little change, like changing the color or shape of a flower, makes the species too adaptable and it takes over.

- Her programming as a mining robot means she thought nothing of leaving an area stripped bare, under the false impression that since plants can regrow they can just bounce back from anything she did. ((Note: Research the ecological impact of various mining practices. I caught myself thinking that since it's "just minerals and ores" it won't have very much effect when this may be dead wrong.))

- Alternatively, her understanding of geology also gives her a decent knowledge of things like the water cycle, erosion, soil composition, etc and that makes her wary of potential dangers of altering the ground for cultivation. She's brought in as a consultant for the question: "What should we grow and/or build here?" And answers: "Nothing. Leave."

- A business owner for a massive trading company manipulates or enables her so she either sneaks around "to avoid hostile barbarians standing in the way of progress" or outright just takes stuff. Or they take stuff to her in a lab, say, here, see what you can do with this, then lies to her about her discoveries making them rich / used to extract every possible cent of profit from the earth / whatever.

- Learning stewardship practices from indigenous people and treating them as a greater authority on the area than she is, acknowledging their right to bar her from entering and doing research. She may be able to sequence the genomes of the natives grasses but that doesn't necessarily mean she can calculate every variable relating to plants, animals, soil, water, etc and deduce the Diverse And Sustainable but Still Determined Useful For Production Outcome. I was originally gonna give her that power but yeah, no, that's probably just about the worst thing I could do.

- Falsely believing that she can account for every variable and exterminating a parasitic species in the interest of biodiversity or letting a "good" species flourish. She ends up seriously disrupting the food chain a la the wolf culling that happened in Yellowstone.

The thing that threw this all into perspective was a well-meaning character finding out about her powers and being like, oh, so are you going to find a way to, for example, grow barley in the desert? And she's like, no, what, why would I try to overwrite it into a monoculture. Why are there so many people out here, anyway, this seems really hard to sustain.

I put the words: "You speak as one who does not know this land, does not see that, and lays bare your own ignorance." Into her mouth as a wham line. Stopped. Looked the fabric I made her from and went well, fuck.

The thing that drives me up the wall is the movie-verse and the larger Roger Rabbit canon likely doesn't have much to say on the settling of America or why Hollywood and the surrounding urban center was built in a place that cannot easily support a large human population. It, like I did with Verah's creation, assumes that discovering a "new" place is immediately, naturally followed by shaping it to fit the needs of those "discoverers." This being portrayed as necessary or nuetral, with nonexistent or minimized consequences.

To be fair the movie doesn't even pretend to concern itself with what came before on a larger, how did the world get here scale and leaves after pretty open to the veiwer's imagination. Trying to fault it for that decision would be nitpick-y at best. No story is capable of addressing every serious topic and to expect as much is foolish. The frustration I have is a product of the kind of story I'm used to and the particular Hyperfixation Goblin in my brain that some fans have, that Needs an Explanation for Everything and is willing to make one if it doesn't already exist. I don't mean to sound like I actually have a serious bone to pick with people who like it as a fun meta-comedy about film noir and golden age animation with slapstick and dirty jokes.

Soo finished Autumn and will start Winter tomorrow so i can take a “slight break” in between those.

Then I have about 17 chaps of Winter unlocked and then i have... over a hundred of backstory to read a ha ha ahah

But anyway an Autumn billan is that i’m still so proud of them all. 

a3 works its characters development really well and it always ends up being a very emotional ride.

I guess i’m too biased bc I do largely prefer the thematics of the Summer Troupe so i cannot help but compare, but Autumn did a pretty great job with its own thematics.

Autumn was a bit more individualist than Summer or Spring was - which is fine, and was very well handled, and still balanced out with Banri and Juza’s dynamic of being always one against the other to finally being with each other’s tunes.

There is a bit of this always competition underlining theme that is well worked on with them.

Huuum the thing is that Summer was specifically about all the members coordinating with one another and specifically, Tenma learning how to lift up the others. He was the leader but he was so he could lead where the attention should be, on the others.

Autumn is a lot more individualistic even if they all work each other out. The idea was always about them being better than the other as individuals. 

Even Omi, who is clearly the one who cares the least about competition, is specifically in to develop his own individual sense of desire instead of living for the dream of a dead friend. 

Taichi’s whole storyline is rooted in his individual’s journey and ultimately it’s coming clean with the fact he wants to be in the group that helps him grow.

Likewise Sakyo had to grow on his own and specifically had to take steps to “embrace the stage”

But the focus was specifically on Barni and Juza’s personal growth and individual journeys and how they balance each other as individuals. 

Another thematic of Autumn is the one of regrets and i think it works too with the cycle of seasons going on so far. Spring was hopeful and blooming and discovering themselves. Summer was learning about oneself, connecting, having fun. Autumn meanwhile dwelves much more in the regrets of the past, of what the characters wishes they could have done or not.

And it works out well with their personal growth as it is.

In the begining of the story i admit i really wasn’t into Banri at all and i complained about it dljfd but his development was stellar and i’m very proud of him and now i can say i really like him. He’s grown as a leader the moment he accepted how regrets can lead you forward. Also accepted that he can still work toward something and all.

Juza comes as my unexpected sweetheart here since i’ve grown really found of him as it goes. He seemed a bit trapped into what society had forced into them... in fact, all of them kinda felt like they were trapped into what people forced them into. But they’ve all been actively trying to grow out of that and the thing is that almost everyone bring up Juza as being the motivation behind that.  and i find it fascinating.

Taichi’s story was heartbreaking. Omi’s backstory had me cry into puddles. Sakyo is a fascinating character. In a whole the Autumn troupe is made of interesting people.

It seems tho that most of the dynamic of the troupe was Banri and Juza a each others throats and the others doing damage control until near the end where it was all about them taking individual responsabilities. 

They’ve grown together, but i’m looking forward to see more in team development.

One of the highlights that i missed from summer (probably my only real pet peeve with Summer ahah) was... that we see more of Spring and Summer (yeah so in the end i’m still Summer biased huh).

Summer made me forget at time that the Spring charas were supposed to live with them and that was a bit of a problem :/ 

Autumn meanwhile really took a lot of time to have the two troupes be there in the background, even sometimes just to set the mood of a scene. Also extra-dynamic with the troupes with Itaru/Citron/Banri gaming together or all the plot around Yuki and ofc Muku and Juza. 

Which is very appreciated and felt refreshing. We’re really building a family there.

As a whole yeah i’m not as much of an emotional wreck as i was during Summer though but it’s because Summer’s tropes specifically talks to me personally as my fav tropes while i’m more interested to Autumn on an analytic standpoint than an emotional one.

Still, it was a great lot of fun and i loved every seconds of it!

Half of the Winter Troupe had been introduced now soo i cannot wait to see them. I’ve grinded enough the backstories to be curious about all of them and what’s to come, but i’m especially curious about Azuma bc,,,,, i’m v weak for him,,, And the play planned for Winter is actually one that attracts my attention the most... it seems so pretty and sad at once.....

That’s also from the season cycle right? Spring was youthful and friendship based, Summer was humouristic and escapism, Autumn was mature and action packed, so now Winter is coming and i suspect it’s going to be melancholic considering the plot of the play... and i can’t wait to see how they handle it.

Oh and the whole mess with the God Troupe: Come fucking fight me yourself Reni you bitch.

ah a hahha funfact i had a one week “holiday” from uni that was done specifically for us to study and i didn’t work at all and it’s all subjects i’m a bit failing into so it’s Kind Of A Problem but just thinking about working on them froze me completely so ooops. Getting a new hyperfixation always stops me from being able to focus on anything else it’s terrible.

But here i am *finger guns*

Anyway Summer Troupe still best Troupe. Love u Autumn though. Love u Spring too. And I will love you Winter. I know it.
