You're aware that Arven is...uncomfortable with Cofagrigus. You don't blame him, really! You get it. It's kind of a weird pokemon, but you love it dearly, having raised it since it was just a little, weepy yamask. You just couldn't help but love it! The poor thing needed someone, and you were just the person to help!

So you and Cofagrigus became the best of partners.

That doesn't mean everyone else gets it though.

So you understand why Arven shies away when Cofagrigus floats a little too close or when its hands reach too far or fingers get too wriggly. The pokedex entries make it sound scary, but you know your pokemon, and you know it wouldn't hurt Arven for anything!

So, you decide to help foster a bit more of a loving relationship between the two. No matter what you tell Arven about how sweet it can be, you know he won't believe it until he sees it for himself with someone other than you.

Normally, you just feed Cofagrigus separately from the rest of the pokemon, since its eating habits are admittedly a little bizarre, but the quickest way to a pokemon's heart is through its stomach! Or, so you tell yourself.

While Arven is preparing everyone's sandwiches one day at lunch, you approach him with a heavy pocket. "Hey! Do you think you might be able to make a sandwich for Cofagrigus today?"

Arven pauses and looks to you. "Um. Yeah, sure... I didn't realize it ate? I'm sorry. I would have been feeding it this whole time if I'd known?"

"Oh, it does!" You laugh. "It's just a little different. Here!" You reach into your pocket and heft out a decent chunk of tiny golden nuggets. "Just add these to its sandwich. That's really all it eats anyway."

Arven takes the gold from you incredulously. "Are... Are you serious?"

You nod, smiling wide.

"How much money has this thing eaten?"

You laugh. "How much money have you eaten?"

He sighs. "....Fair enough, I guess..."

So Arven makes the first ever golden nugget sandwich.

Cofagrigus ignores the bread, lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickle, and condiments, but it loved the nuggets!

After that it trails along after Arven more and more when you two go picnicking and traveling around. Arven, for his part, really does try to be nice. He'll confusedly pet at the coffin or try to shake one of its ghostly hands, but truth be told, he really isn't sure how best to play with the pokemon, so he mostly just lets it float around him, mussing his hair or pulling at loose threads on his clothing, as friendly ghost types usually seem wont to do.

One night, the two of you are sleeping side by side in your sleeping bags in a nice little campsite when Cofagrigus decides it no longer wants to be in its ball. It goes and perches itself near Arven, poking him to wakefulness.

"Hm...? Wha?" He opens his eyes. "No, Cofagrigus. Not now, I don't have any gold..."

Cofagrigus pulls on him a bit, dragging him in his sleeping bag. Arven's eyes go wider, and he looks to you, fast asleep.

"Uh... Buddy, wake up... I don't like this."

You're still asleep. Cofagrigus, eyes unmoving and unblinking, seems to be dragging Arven somewhere further away, and he can't get out of his sleeping bag.

"Buddy, wake up!" He says louder. "Hey, hello! Time to wake up! Can you hear me? Wake up, buddy!" He looks back to Cofagrigus. "I don't like this!" Then he calls again to you. "Buddy, wake up!"

okay some end of episode thoughts aka things I feel insane about but didn't already mention:

wen ning being such a well kept secret that everyone is shocked to see him alive, but the Moment wei wuxian calls for him he comes. literally crazy. I know there were like schemes behind this but it still fries my brain

wei wuxian starting to play again after lan wangji had grabbed him and lan wangji still holding onto his wrist looking at him in awe. can't imagine the insane flood of emotions he must have been feeling in that moment

when wei wuxian faints into the flashback he falls like he did from the cliff at nevernight... never noticed that before but it makes me a lil weepy..

the way that the scenes in the present timeline are not dark or gloomy by any means, but the second the flashback starts it is Noticeably brighter and softer. the light colors, the soft lighting, the playful atmosphere. it's an immediate shock to your system and the contrast between the palpable innocence and joy in the flashback and the heavy and grief filled history that Obviously haunts the present timeline is so so well done

3. What work are you most proud of regardless of kudos/hits?

Really anything I wrote in the latter half of the year because this year was not kind for my mental health. I'm finally bouncing back now but the passion was lacking for a lil while there.

I'm gonna say Sleep Tips for the Chronically Nocturnal. I put a lot of pressure on myself to write it because it was for an event but I was in the midst of an awful break up, had covid for a week of it, was on vacation with my niece for another and had to put all energy into being fun uncle Sully. Every time I started writing, I hated it. I fully scrapped what I was writing several times - just everything felt against me in the moment.

But then I started it in the guise it exists now and finally I was able to capture the fun that I was looking for and it was actually quite a cathartic writing experience in the end. I was literally a little weepy at the nice comments on it. For a short fic, I felt like I had conquered Everest.

16. What is your most common "Additional Tags" tag?

I don't even have to check to know it's humour! If there is anything consistent in my writing, it's the goofball energy and banter as a love language.

18. The character that gave you the most trouble writing this year?

There's a few characters I tend to stay away from writing. Finn, I have a complicated relationship with. Brittany has such wonky characterisation in the show, I often find her hard to capture on page. She's a character I don't vibe with personally as well so it usually makes it not feel worth the effort. And then Mercedes I would love to write more of because I adore her, but I just never seem to capture her voice well.

Oh my god. This is why I have no patience for complaints going waaaaah a couple of people on tunglr write fics where Renfield is too complex or Jonathan is too badass or whatever. Like spare me y'all, far worse shit butchering the characters and the themes is distributed to millions every year through musicals, movies and books

Even the worst fanfic writers... I dunno, some of them are very bad... no, no, jokes aside. Even the worst fanfic writers have nothing on fucking Frank Wildhorn and his crew. Dracula das Musical and Jekyll & Hyde the musical romanticize and fetishize rape, murder, and abuse so damn much and they make MONEY off of it. They do it with silly lil catchy songs that draw in audiences that are willing to overlook the bad because "haha this song is so romantic". It's a song about rape, but okay, hun.

You can depict awful things happening or being said without supporting those things. I'll give even the most self-indulgent fanfic writers a chance because that is what fanfic writing is supposed to be: self-indulgent. Even when it's obvious that a fic writer actually does romanticize bad things... it does overall less harm than actual big adaptations.

By rewriting Dracula into a romantic musical where Dracula is the romantic lead, the writers are posing Dracula as being in the right. There is no nuance. His evil actions are EVIL they cause SO MUCH PAIN, but they smush in a few more weepy ballads about being lonely and say "he's actually a good guy once you get over your girlfriend's untimely death and start huffing lead paint". This is unlike, you know, classical tragedies where the main character gets his comeuppance because of some fatal flaw. Dracula does not die at the end of the Dracula musical because of any of his actions or character flaws. He dies because the writers realized at the last second that Dracula getting the girl is a bad ending.

Now, part of this ask is evidently referring a bit to some... recent drama. I've ranted about it before, so I'll spare specifics. Now, Dracula from the Dracula musical is an awful person, but the narrative functionally treats him as the underdog hero of the story. Look at all these cuckolds trying to keep him down. All he's trying to do is harm women, is that so bad? So, when a story depicts a character doing something wrong, the people who adore that character will probably be fine with it so long as the story does not acknowledge those actions as wrong. Because... if your favourite character... did something bad... then, are you bad?

No. Your poor little meow meow is kind of an asshole, I thought you knew this. That's what made you like them, right? Renfield did bad things. It's only fair to acknowledge that. He attacked Seward-- and yes, I know a great deal of y'all were in support of murdering Seward, but he did it so Seward would be unavailable to watch Lucy. He's indirectly responsible for Lucy's death. He's directly responsible for Mina's assault (though he did try to stop it). He tries to atone and gets killed after going against Dracula, but it doesn't take away the damage his actions caused. There's not enough content surrounding Renfield, to be perfectly honest. Though, I dread the writing that will result from that godawful comp-het disaster of a movie coming out.

I've never seen any fics that make Jonathan "too badass", honestly. Most fanfics severely undercut his capabilities and agency because um *whispers* most fanfics are Dracula/Jonathan. For once I want a Dracula 2020 fic that gives Jonathan a gun and fr kills Dracula. But that aside, that aside, even the stories that do make Jonathan "badass"... they don't really. He's strong and sexy, obviously, but that's just canon. The fact they go more in-depth as to how and why he's strong and sexy doesn't make it unbelievable. And those fics don't strip him of his weaknesses, he retains his PTSD. No fanfic like... ever... has made Jonathan a macho man.

1. Are you named after anyone?

….Kinda! I stole the name of my own character and then changed his. Poor Atlas… lost his name to his creator much like you would to the fae. I’m Moon Now.

2. When was the last time you cried?

yesterday. i was watching downton abbey and they killed off a beloved character. watching ppl mourn her GOT ME. my last Serious cry… no clue but it was probably within the last week. i’m kinda weepy.

3. Do you have kids?

nope!

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

all the time. just about constantly, i think. i rarely even notice myself doing it.

5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?

hair and the general vibe of their outfit! so i guess their presentation/style. i have a difficult time learning ppl’s faces though.

6. What’s your eye color?

Brown!

7. Scary movies or happy endings?

happy endings…. i love some scary shit n angst but it’s gotta be worth it in the end.

8. Any special talents?

oh boy uhhh. i can solve a rubix cube in about a minute. i can also yo-yo and do a few tricks (walk to dog, rock the baby, around the world if i’ve been practicing)

9. Where were you born?

tennessee…. southern baby. i was also born in a hospital that keeps trying to kill my relatives. succeeded once. feels like a bad omen tbh.

10. What are your hobbies?

mainly drawing and writing i think. i keep trying to think of any other hobbies and drawing a blank… i game a lil. i’ve dabbled in some instruments.

11. Do you have any pets

YES!!! i have a cat named cheesecake. she’s silly looking. a lil smelly. head empty heart full.

i also live with family and they’ve got two cats and two dogs! so many animals.

12. Have you played/Do you play any sports?

ROLLER DERBY !!!! i played for about two years and i miss it Every Day. i often look at my roller skates and yearn for my times playing derby. did i injure my knee? yes! is it probably still fucked up? maybe! it’s worth it though idc. i got a black eye my first game and i may never have such a rush again. my captain burst into a room to stare at my face and then only said ‘gnarly.’ bitches were jealous of my injury.

14. Favorite subject in school?

either art or math!

15. Dream job?

i don’t dream of work. i kinda wanna be able to write n make things like idk… games, shows, books, w/e. however? i cannot even finish a fic. who knows! my main dream jobs in the past have been tattoo artist or author and those Are still fun ideas.

So, last week @swiss-army-fangirl came to stay with me in LA for a while, and if you know anything about me you know i’m the kind of person that needs to document things that move me. These two paintings are of our first and third nights, two both seemingly impossible events along the California shoreline (the most magical place in this country if you ask me honestly) Sappy lil stories and context below the cut < 3 

Our first night we made a mad dash down to Santa Monica which was SOMEHOW almost completely empty, and we laid out on a blanket and watched as the clouds that had been hanging over the sky all day cleared JUST in time for sunset, I got to watch Tori like, atomize, as i pointed out all the colors and how the marine layer slowly consumes the mountains and the pier comes to life with all it’s lights. After a while of talking it was dark and Tori pointed up and said “is that a star?” and I laughed at her, because of Course its not this is LOS ANGELES, but then...the more we looked, it WAS and there were...MORE, It was like she brought them down with her.... I remember being sat there thinking “this is a sign....this trip is going to be So Much.....” which was interrupted by Tori going “oh my god....the big dipper looks so different from here-” and me just needing to.....Lay Down LOL. We talked for a bit longer, sitting there on the beach WELL past sunset and then we both fell dead silent and looked at each other before going “did you see that-” and we both HAD and it was....a shooting star--- HERE- ON A RANDOM NIGHT IN LA 

and i haven’t stopped thinking about it since---- The second landscape is a direct rendition of a picture I took while we were in La Jolla. La Jolla is one of the few places on this earth that makes me feel completely at peace and happy, I always find myself making my where there when my soul needs it. and funnily enough, I found as i was getting to know Tori that she was familiar with it. In an abstract but still equally meaningful way, because she had heard it described in the Wilbur Soot song of the same name, which means quite a lot to her. From the moment I learned this fact the jokes started about taking her there some day. Jokes that we both knew were just that, because what would be the odds of two online friends from AK and CA, actually meeting up? Last Christmas when I was down there I sat on the rocks and listened to the song as a way to “bring her there” in spirit. And I remember getting weepy at the idea of how wonderful it would be to share this place with her, my heart ached for it, but i accepted it was never gonna happen.  But then....this LA trip fell into our laps and I cannot DESCRIBE the speed at which I started to throw this day trip into motion, I KNEW I had to, I knew it was FATE. I arranged train tickets, I found a place to drink cocktails over the water, I mapped out all the things I wanted to do to make sure we’d have time for them all..... Truly went ALL IN- but it was SO worth it...because with all that planning....the day went PERFECT.... and we ended it right down at the water, sitting side by side on the beach steps, listening to that Damn Song, and coming full circle..... I pulled out my phone and took a picture of the surf right as Wilbur sang Tori’s favorite line and then when we got home I painted it, so that I could give it to her as a Physical Thing (well....digital-) that she can look back on and remember the experience by. I made sure to be meticulous about every single detail so it would be....truly EXACTLY as it happened and as we remembered it. And i’d be lying if I didnt admit i’ve gone back a few times even myself to look at it and just, Think [tm]. Think about how fortunate I have been to be able to open up my heart and show some of my most treasured places to one of my newest most treasured friends. And in turn with that, weave our friendship into little pockets and corners of those places, which only makes me love them more....  ALSO we saw a whale going down the coast and I am, fully convinced, just like the stars that Tori brought it down with her and I cannot be told otherwise. < 3
