I was watching the snow outside and thinking of Palestine
If you lived here
you'd see the pretty blues
of snow and wintry skies
The trees frosted and bare
asleep, waiting for the new morning
of a sun-dappled spring.
If I were there
my children wouldn't play in snow
but in ashes, if they'd be playing at all
Thousands in need of parental care
Of loved ones destroyed
The feeling of not being enough
Amplified thousandfold.
My home is shrouded in peace and quiet
In gratitude I hold my children
close, in desperate love.
In a country advertising with Santa Claus
The happiest place in the world
Funding the genocide of families like ours.
If you were here
They'd probably be still alive.
My children gone because of bombs
or lack of insuline,
And a world watching in silence
as humanity is discarded as economically unviable.

what’s an identity card
its a colonial documentation system that states our palestinian identity and determines our residency and what places we can / cannot go.
there are 5 ID systems enforced by israel:
1. Gaza Strip ID: if ur a palestinian who holds this ID, you can’t live anywhere in palestine except gaza (i believe this has been in effect since 2007)
2. West Bank ID: if u hold this you can’t live anywhere but 40% of the West Bank due to military checkpoints and settlements (i have this ID)
3. East Jerusalem ID: if u hold this u can have access to most areas in palestine but israel can revoke ur access whenever they want if you live outside of jerusalem
4. israeli ID but held by palestinians: can access “israeli-only” cities but still cannot reside in most towns in israel
5. jewish/israeli ID: if u hold this ur free to live anywhere throughout “israel” . u can even live on the palestinian territories (60% of the West Bank) as a settler

I am actually. I am so emotional over the Salazar parents and I need to share this to tumblr too.
A lot of stories where the MC is adopted I feel. Either dismiss the biological parents and the impact they have on the kid's life, or makes them evil and abusive, framing the loss of the bio parents as a good thing, or at least something we shouldn't think about just look at this new family.
But Genrex doesn't do that. From the start, Rex wanted to find out more about his parents - it's one of his primary character motivations, next to helping people. He loves them, even though he doesn't know them.
And the more he finds out about them, the more he realizes they loved him. Rylander is consumed by guilt but as Rex's first connection to his pre-Event life, the first thing he does is hug him. And when he tells Rex about his parents, the two things Rex knows is that 1) they were scientists, and 2) that when he was in danger, they were desperate enough to use their secret, experimental technology to save him. Technology built from their desire to help the world, to save countless lives and end countless suffering.
And then. When he finds out that they were dead, he doesn't stop caring. It'd be so easy, too, to tie it up there - his parents were good people, he got his answer about them, the end. But they don't. He doesn't. Because the show is saying once again that they are his parents. He still calls them mom and dad, even as the show makes it clear Holiday and Six adopted Rex as their son. Even as the show even parallels Six and One with Rex and Six (and I will talk about that more later if I don't forget, trust me), to really drive home how much they're family. Rex even says he considers the two of them family, and later that he considers Noah, Claire and Annie family.
He has new family, the show tells us, but his old family still matters to him. He's upset that he never has the chance to meet his parents, that everything he hears about them, about his time with them, is secondhand knowledge. It tells us clearly that not only does Rex still love them, but that he still wants to know them. And everything we find out about them reinforces the love that they had for each other.
We see Abuela and the family in Mexico, who connect him to his birth family and tell him that he was so loved back then, and still is now. We see their office in Abysus through Rex's eyes. The picture of him and his dad on his desk. The drawing Rex drew, proudly pinned to the wall.
We see it in the familiarity of the drawing. That that robot, that build, was what Rex created when he was lost and scared and alone - that it was made to keep him safe. That it first appeared in his mind in a place he felt safe.
The show says, tenderly and softly, that the love is still there. That the fact these people died was nothing but a tragedy, that their love is a big part of what made Rex who he is today - that every molecule in his body is filled with their final gift to him. That every time he cures someone, every time he uses a build, every time he makes a machine - we see the love that they had for him.
And the way he quietly absorbs his father's face. The way he freezes and whispers "Mamá?" when he finds out Zag-Rs has their mother's voice. The fact that she even has her voice as a testament to Caesar's love, too - that it was meant to bring comfort and safety. The way Rex yells at Caesar when he finds out they have a family property, a connection to their past, the way he fights to protect it.
And, none of this takes away still from Six and Holiday being Rex's family too. None of this removes the work either set of parents did for him, the love either set has - the show says that it was unfair that the Salazar parents were lost. That Six and Holiday are not replacements, that they still love him as parents but play different roles in his life. They can not, and have no desire to, replace the Salazars. But Rex needs parents, he needs protectors, and so they will do what they can for him - at first out of necessity, to keep this kid they barely know safe, but then out of love. They aren't replacing what was lost, but are doing their best to do what Rex's bio parents would do. And they do mess up in it - they mess up in ways Rex's bio parents might not have. Six is clearly bad with showing affection, affection we saw the Salazars give Rex so easily, and Holiday is overworked and stressed constantly, sometimes breaking under the pressure and snapping at Rex and Six, things we never saw the Salazars do.
It's just. It's about how sometimes things will not be the same. They will be different. That doesn't mean the people you lost aren't still with you.

i’m the anon who told you that you were warm 👋
you ARE warm. of course i’m still here. everyone, and that includes you!, deserves to have that recognition and appreciation :)
you provide such an amazing environment for me in this steddie life and beyond. i have a steddie sideblog and i love my little corner (nobody interacts with me but still)
SENDING HUGS TO YOU AND EVERYONE THAT READS THIS 🫂
let me tell you something about warmth
so last weekend my brother got married and my dad gave a little speech. he's good at that, talking in front of people without making it a big deal, drifting off and still making it seem like it's part of the speech.
and he said something that he told me a while ago already, something he would mention to me once or twice throughout all of my life. a sacred little something.
he said, "boy, this speech right here is one of three most important speeches i've held for you. you didn't hear the other two, but you can hear this one. the first was just when you were born, i was sitting on the balcony and talking to the stars, telling them about my little boy and all the things i wanted to to better than my parents did.
"the second one you didn't hear either because you were asleep and i was sat by your beside, telling you about your new baby sister (me, dio) and that you were a big brother now.
"and now, the third one, in front of all these people who love you and appreciate you. and i look into this room and feel a certain calm, knowing you have so many friends who have your back, and even more you couldn't invite, because if you were to invite everyone who loved you, we'd need a bigger room or three. and that's all a parent could want. there's barely more for me to say here, so let me say it in the words of men who are wiser than your old man.
"may the force be with you, and with your love. and may you live long and prosper, but most importantly, in love."

my tags on my prev reblog re: dean's misinterpreted attitude toward monsters just got me thinking abt sam and the bloodfreak stuff in general and like, as we know a lot of the early seasons were framed in sam's pov so a lot of the time it' him who's feeling like a monster and projecting that onto others to confirm his own beliefs abt himself. like when he finds out abt john telling dean to kill him if he goes darkside sam suddenly is in agreement w/ john saying john's right and dean has to do it because dad said so !!! anyways that's just preface to what i want to say which is, sam isn't really a monster. what i mean is, he's not a monster in the inherent sense that he seems to think he is, and that's part of the reason why dean pushes back against the demon blood stuff because he knows sam can be saved and for dean his number one job is to save sam because the alternative is following john's order and that's something he just cannot do. so it makes sense that dean would do whatever it takes even if that's being a little mean or forceful (calling him a monster, echoing john by telling him not to walk out that door to give sam pause, forcing him to detox) because he does not want to kill his brother.
but anyways, sam is not a monster in the way he (and a lot of fans) thinks he's a monster. he was Not born a monster, it's not something that is intrinsically and inherently part of him. and i'd argue there's really nothing special or "chosen one"-esque about him (aside from the lucifer bloodline making him a better candidate for vessel purposes), he was just a regular baby who was dosed with demon blood, which in the text is treated as a drug / addiction. there was nothing special about any of the babies azazel dosed, they were just the children of people he'd made deals with. i think pretty much any baby (possibly even adult) who's fed demon blood from a powerful enough demon (like a Prince of Hell) would develop psychic powers. so it's not something completely out of his control that's turning him into a monster like a virus or a vampire / werewolf bite where he can't stop the progression. it's not happening to him he's making active choices to strengthen those powers and the more he feeds the more he wants it. everything w/ ruby is framed as him knowing he's doing something "wrong", the sneaking around, the lying. and i think dean's response is along the lines of "we need to get you help. we need to stop this because it's something that can be stopped. and if we stop it then i won't have to see you lose yourself or go too far. because if you go too far and start hurting people then i might have to kill you and i can't do that so please just let us save you." and i think that's fair. yes he and bobby maybe go about things the wrong way but i think it's born out of desperation. and also it's not a rejection of "this is who you are and we hate you for being a monster" it's "you're making choices that are leading you down a dangerous path and we're scared we may lose you so we're trying to stop you from going too far down that road."
like the end goal of all the bloodfreak stuff (ruby's end goal) was to free lucifer and freeing lucifer would mean sam becoming his vessel. they obviously don't know all that at the time, but in hindsight it's like, yea we should've curbed that bloodfreak stuff sooner. also heaven was telling dean to stop sam too and that he was going down a dangerous path and that if dean doesn't stop him they will (likely meaning death) so again, of course dean's gonna try to do whatever he can to stop sam even if it's by not great methods. (also heaven was playing him too bc they also wanted lucifer to be freed so that Destiny could come to pass)

There's really nothing to indicate that Silver is actually from Soleanna. He's just kinda associated with it like Sonic is with Green Hill. Even with Crisis City Silver mentions searching for answers and seemingly being pointed there plus the place is the epicenter of Iblis and its minions so it wouldn't make sense for survivors to be born there.
Within '06, there are hints that Soleanna New City became Crisis City, due to the similarities between the skyscrapes and allegedly also some advertisements/billboards. As for where Silver was born specifically, we have no evidence, as far as I am aware. His intro cutscene states the entire world was devastated before he was born, so I figure everywhere would be most unsafe for people to have children anyway. And Iblis is last fought by Silver in Flame Core, which appears to lay outside of Crisis City and is overrun by Iblis' minions too, so I do suppose Iblis and the enemies he creates can move over the planet? But there is indeed nothing concrete that indicates where Silver was born, assuming I am not missing something. I feel like we at most can tentatively say that the entire world was caught up in flames, following Silver's statements in the intro and the fact Iblis and his creations seemingly can move between areas without being confined to Crisis City specifically.

the immaculate conception is an actual church holiday, held early winter. Christmas was moved to when it was as a colonialist effort to absorb and replace pagan winter solstice festivals
Yeah, December 8th, 9th or august 13th, but that was also only established, in like, the 1800s, and sure considering an omnipotent God, they could very much get someone pregnant on the 8th for them to give birth on the 25th, but neither the conception or the birth actually happened in December, it was all decided as to absorb existing pagan holidays, so does it really matter if I made a joke about carrying the second coming of Christ without considering the arbitrary dates assigned for Jesus to be celebrated, while using the one we are currently in that celebrates his death and rebirth, considering the fact that a second coming would be a rebirth and that's the whole point of the joke?
We're on Tumblr, it was a joke.
