i think also a huge part of why artists majorly refuse machine-learning (bc that’s what it is, i refuse to call it ai bc it’s inaccurate and gives tech bros too much credit) is that the people currently championing and developing those tools actively want it to replace artists. They loudly and proudly hate the arts and want every creative professional put out of work. They want every creative HOBBYIST to give up. I have seen machine-learning art generators call us artoids (like ‘femoids’ incels or unhealthily online misogynists use to refer to women. To give you the idea of the kind of hate-fueled superiority we’re dealing with) and circle-jerk to the idea of art no longer being a career and no one being able to ask for commissions anymore.

Machine-learning tools are currently a symbol of people who see creativity and art as an enemy, a boogeyman to be slain. They are designed accordingly - stealing human work to create the data, designing it so that people can generate ‘sketches’ or ‘doodles’ to deceive the layman that it was hand-drawn, using real-world likenesses without consent, etc. When tech bros get tired of weaponizing machine-learning because they think we need to get ‘real jobs’ or that furry porn artists charge too much for comms and need to be stopped, it will probably be a lot easier for artists to embrace it as it’ll be a lot easier to develop ethical tools. On top of making development easier, it could become a great tool to make the visual arts accessible for people that have disabilities affecting drawing ability. It could be a wonderful technology.

But as it stands we’re not there yet.

thinking about how for one glorious, horrible session of third life, skizzleman was basically the grim freakin reaper.

thinking about how in session 7, he got eight whole seconds into his episode before declaring that he had to kill somebody today, that today someone would die.

and he did kill somebody.  two somebodies.  two red lives.

y’know skizz is the only life series member to have ONLY gotten permakills?  everyone else has gotten at least one kill on someone other than a red life.

thing about it is, skizz was very, very bloodthirsty that episode, but despite that bloodlust, he actually arguably spared as many as he slew.  after jimmy’s death, scar was still relatively cornered in that same box, and while the rest of the red army did tell him that it was the banner or death, skizz was the one to rephrase that to “give up the banner and you get to live”, which was an opportunity that scar took to change the situation from Combat (a fight he would lose) to Negotiation (a fight he can, and did, win).  after cleo’s death, he even more explicitly spares bdubs, allows him to go because, unlike cleo, bdubs didn’t attack ren.

it’s not just the murders that make me describe him as the grim freakin reaper, it���s the long-term effects.  obviously the permakills stay permadead for the rest of third life.  but the folks he spared came second and third in duration of being alive, and the guy who won the season was the guy who ultimately killed him.  for one glorious, horrible session, skizz determined who lives and dies, not entirely to his own benefit.

and THEN.  so obviously the permakills stay permadead for the rest of the season.  and cleo’s already technically undead, so uh. bottom text. 

but then there’s jimmy.  the guy whose failed bomb defusal set both himself and skizz to red life, the guy who skizz was hanging out with during scar’s death, the first permadeath of third life and of all other life serieses since.  i could make a pretty convincing argument that jimmy is still feeling the consequences of the arrow skizz put through his him, seeing as uh, he’s still permadying first in life series to this day.  grim freakin reaper.  long-term consequences.

and this is a kind of ridiculous tangent to go off on about someone who is generally just a silly goofy guy who is unflinchingly loyal to his friends, but like, it’s also true.

it’s like. skizz caused the first two permadeaths of third life and then became the third.  we’re all just normal about that?

Think about this plot for more than a minute and it'll start to fall apart probably but just uhhh please don't think about it too much😞🙏

So Sosu has been frozen for over 210 years, they came from a world that wasn't as irradiated as the Commonwealth is currently, so, why not give them radiation poisoning?

They feel fine when they first step out but even still, they can just feel things are different, everything, even the air, feels contamimated. Over the many years, most of the radiation has disappeared, people of the Commonwealth have grown a tolerance to the low amount of radiation that still persists, but Sosu being completely new to this world has no such tolerance and even with a radiation suit slowing the process, the poisoning still seeps into them, slowly starting to kill them. At first it's barely noticeable but the closer they get to their goal, the weaker they seem to get.

First true problem presents itself, the Dimly-lit desert- I mean the Glowing Sea. Even with the power armor taking most of the radiation, by the time they get to the insitute, they're severely ill. The fatigue, the effects of the radiation, it's all obvious. Despite never knowing them it pains the Father to see them in such a way, perhaps it was cruel to let them out of their frozen prison.

Nonetheless the institute is smart, has people to deal with what radaway can't heal, and so with time Sosu is cured but it's made clear to them; any trips to Commonwealth are risky, simply put their body can't handle the radiation.

Obviously there are companions that want the Institute destroyed, but I wonder how they'd react to this? Going off of the assumption that they're close to Sosu, just how willing would they be to write their death sentence by demanding them to destroy the only thing that can help them stay alive? The thing that'd let the companion keep their close friend, maybe their lover, alive? How willing would they be to sacrifice the person whose been there for them this entire time, despite Sosu having their own struggles to deal with?

And with X6? Oh with X6 just think about it. Time passes and he's, dare he say, attached to the future leader. Slowly, without his notice, he's started to truly care. How would he take it, hearing other companions, or faction leaders, demand that Sosu does the "right thing" and destroy the Institute, destroy the only place where they can roam free without a hazmat suit, without having to worry about radiation?

He'd be kinda angry about it I think

•Did Herman let Elaine go on purpose when Jonathan made him take her to the cellar?

I've always wondered since not only does Herman seem so hesitant to harm her, but neither of them seem like there was much of a struggle between them while they were in the basement. Plus, with Elaine not escaping till after Mortimer and the aunts showed up, it's possible Einstein heard their voices upstairs and saw it as an excuse to let Elaine go without Jonathan being able to just throw her back in

•Was Hans Beckert telling the truth about not being able to control his urge to kill and feeling disgusted with himself for his crimes?

Perhaps it takes away some of the films complexity, but I'm partial to the idea that Beckert isn't as haunted by his actions as he claims to be. I feel like the only negative emotion about his crimes Beckert displays before he's caught is a fear of getting caught and every step he takes in finding a victim seems intentional and done in a sound state of mind. Not to mention, as others have pointed out, the letter he sends the police and infamous mirror scene make it seem like he enjoys his reputation as a killer

•Was Roderick remorseful for murdering the pawn broker?

I wanna say yes because he's one of Petes few leading man characters and there are enough moronic critics from around the time who vastly overestimated how much of a villainous character Rod was just because he was played by Peter Lorre and killed someone. But if I'm being honest, I don't feel he was all that guilty, at least not after the night of the murder. Again he seems more frightened of being caught than guilty to me. But on the other hand he's obviously shown to be sensitive and compassionate in general in the film so perhaps its just unrealistic to assume he wouldn't feel at least some guilt for taken a life? I really go back and fourth on this one

Running of the Bulb has been my favorite Mario Party (series) minigame for its uniqueness of teamwork, yet individual players can still lose. (It's not like Key-pa-Way where everyone either wins OR loses.)

RotB is one of three ghost-minigames in MP (the other two being Pedal Power and Ghost Guess), and the only one that little-Jay (my OC as a kid) could win in; she couldn't comprehend the rules of the other two, so she would always lose.

Desperate to not be lost in the dark, little-Jay runs as fast as her little feet can take her. Don't look back, or else she might trip and break the bulb - or worse, get possessed!

Years later as she grew, Joslyn learns to fight her fears - sometimes literally! She has enough confidence in herself to put up a good battle, not backing down.

Whereas little-Jay was trying to preserve the light, Joslyn IS the light.

As for Big Boo and King Boo, I headcanon them as the same Boo character. (King Boo was Big Boo before he became known as King Boo.)
