As it usually happens on here, we become fans of things by osmosis if we didn't seek it out for ourselves. So I've been following you for a bit and I have finally crossed the threshold from "this person I follow really loves this media and I love seeing their love for it on my dash, so glad they're having fun" over to "I wanna have fun, too." And that's all thanx to @thatgothsamurai's photobooth art.

So, I hope you can guide me on where I should start with patpran and inkpa, and the rest. Like, are they on separate shows that crossover? A spinoff? Like, what's going on, where do I start, how do I watch. Like you, I'm in the US. Any suggestions are appreciated.

okay so both patpran and inkpa are canon pairings from the thai bl bad buddy and its related special episodes! all are produced by the thai production company gmmtv.

the show and all related episodes are available to watch on youtube with english subtitles - i'll link to relevant playlists.

THE MAIN SHOW: BAD BUDDY THE SERIES

directed by "aof" noppharnach chaiyahwimhon (who is gay himself), and starring "nanon" korapat kirdpan as pran, and "ohm" pawat chittsawangdee as pat. the original show is twelve episodes, which aired from october 2021 to january 2022. i watched it for the first time in february 2022 and have not known peace every since

the premise is that pat and pran, who have lived next door to each other since birth, have been rivals all their lives because their families hate each other. after pran's sent off to boarding school for three years, they are unexpectedly reunited at university - where they find that their friend groups are also enemies, so they have to keep up the pretense of hating each other. but of course they fall in love instead!

the main story is about patpran, but inkpa is a canon side pairing featuring "love" pattranite limpatiyakorn as pa, pat's younger sister, and "milk" pansa vosbein as ink, a classmate of pat and pran's. though they get less screentime, i still think they have a delightful romantic arc themselves!

SPECIAL EPISODES

zero photography: an inkpa special episode that is set after the main show. directed by "tee" bundit sintanaparadee, whom i don't know much about, and aired in august 2022

our skyy x bad buddy x a tale of thousand stars: so our skyy 2 was an anthology of special episodes released between april and june 2023 for a bunch of different gmmtv bls. each show was supposed to have two special eps for their characters, but since two shows directed by p'aof were getting special eps (the other one being a tale of thousand stars, also a delightful show), he decided to use four episodes as a crossover of the two shows. in the bad buddy timeline, these eps take place during a timeskip that happens in the original show between episodes 11 and 12, and features patpran but has a few great inkpa appearances too. you don't really need to have seen atots to understand the eps, i don't think? but they probably are more enjoyable if you have haha

EXTRAS

"just friend" music video: nanon sings two songs on the bad buddy soundtrack, and ohm sings one for our skyy 2, all of which have music videos, but i'm linking to this song of nanon's particularly because the music video its own story unrelated to the show at all! it's very cute and is basically an au where they are employees at the same hotel (and in love of course)

23.5 degrees the series: this is not technically related to bad buddy, but milk and love are going to be starring in gmmtv's first full-length gl, 23.5 degrees, which will be directed by "fon" kanittha kwunyoo (who i believe is a lesbian)! thai gls are just starting to get attention and backing by the major tv studios, and milklove's known chemistry from playing inkpa, as well as an exciting supporting cast and director, are making everyone super excited for this

there are also TONS of behind-the-scenes and making-of extras if you get into the show but i figured this was enough to start with :D

Ahhh, my dear Robot!! 🤖😍 Thank you so much for this, I'm so honored you want to know more about any fic of mine, let alone my fave Elysium!! 🏛️🏺(Love those emojis btw!! 😍) I shall make a bullet point list under the cut for your convenience 💙🤍

I remember I focused a lot on the beginning section, setting the scene with lots of description when it came to Liz's dress & the room itself. Even though the fic was set in a scene from an actual ep (7.09) so we all knew what the room looked like, I just really wanted to establish the feel of the space, that was super important to the tone of the fic I was imagining - brown & warm & indulgent.

Omg, flirtatious Red is at an 11 in this lmfao I liked the detail of him watching Liz swallow her drink just cause lol plus his completely nonchalant attitude when it comes to the actual objective of the undercover op & the fact that he's just 100% dedicated to being on a date with Lizzie.

Omg, the dance was so. much. fun. to. write 😏😏😏 I very much had the whole Liz-thinking-Red-is-leaning-in-to-kiss-her-but-he-moves-in-to-smell-her-and-brush-his-nose-along-her-neck-instead moment in mind prior to writing, that was a veryyyyy specific image I had for this fic & I lovedddd including it LOL

Liz's dress inspired the Grecian theme of this fic, which was only meant to be a dance for @theythinkimabitch, but once I thought of a Greek theme, I realized it was perfect since we both love Greek mythology, so I gave Red the pleasure of starting the analogy by commenting on Liz's dress cause, you know... he would & then Liz picks up the parallels from there & 🎶 I went overboard 🎶

I loved the idea of Liz saying it was hard to breathe up on that pedestal where Red has a habit of putting her, both bc it was a good reminder for him that she's human - not a goddess - but also bc I thought it was very "Red" of him to panic & think she was actually having trouble breathing LOL

And Red has to twirl her in their dance & of course he absolutely has to hold her there & give her a once-over at the same time, I mean come on

Liz is Persephone ofc.

I have many books on Greek gods & goddesses & I referred to them to make sure I was getting all the mythology right, just to be sure LOL

I loved the parenthetical that Liz wasn't "abducted from a field of wildflowers, so much as escorted to a black site in a helicopter." I thought that was cool.

And the fact that she doesn't want Red putting her on a pedestal, but also doesn't want to be the weak maiden in need of saving seemed very "Liz" & of course Red would never dream of it, bc he knows just how capable & bad-ass (canon) she is & he loves her for it 👌

When I was originally planning out the mythology for this, I obviously went with Red as Hades - Persephone's husband, perf - but then I had the thought of him also being Cerberus... but only for Liz. I think I was in the shower (I do spend time out of the shower btw, I promise, I just get good fics ideas in there lmfao) & just went HEYOOOOOOOOOO cause I loved that so much 😂

I'm very much in love with the idea of Red & Liz communicating non-verbally in undercover situations, so the idea of the lights going out as they did in the actual ep was SUPER INTRIGUING & of course I had to add a little thigh grabbing, I mean come on 😏

I also adored the parenthetical of Liz realizing she's the only one that can calm or sway Red - as Persephone does Hades - BUT it's not the control she relishes (*cough* like canon!Liz might *cough*) & she instead considers it a privilege. The distinction was important to me.

Red throwing his signature hissy fit - as he did in the ep, but this time x10 - over the safety of the owl bc honestly, he's not a monster while Liz sits there all heart eyes mf was something I desperately wanted to include cause... couple goals, honestly.

Also, the owl itself was a happy coincidence, as something that was already in the ep, bc I realized I could easily tie it into the Greek theme since owls are the sacred animal of Athena & Red clearly has the mind of a strategist, & when I figured out how to work that in I just went yessssssssssss

The fact that Liz knows to get up when Red turns the lights back off & finds his hand in the dark made my shipper heart happyyyyyyy

I wanted to give Liz a little extra shout-out as a capable agent - cause she is, especially after Red stole the spotlight with his whole owl tirade - so I was happy to include that she studied the blueprints of the building & knew where they were when Red didn't & of course Red was all 😍😍😍

And Red being weirded out by the owl was in the end of the actual ep as well, long after they escaped their undercover op, but it was such a cute little moment (James was so fucking cute about it omg I can't even & Megan/Liz had her heart eyes going again & Dembe was sketching the owl, like??? amazing) anyway, it was so cute in the ep that I knew I wanted that to be the thing that made Liz throw herself in Red's arms & finally make out with him lololol

And I threw in the Aphrodite reference cause it fit & at that point, it was just like... "ok, how many gods & goddesses can I actually fit in this fic??? 🤷🤷🤷 Let's see!!" 🥳😂

Also Red reminding Liz of Cerberus with his lil whine as she's kissing him made me tingly & warm so I had to include it 😏

And thennnnnn Liz pulling Red out of the labryinth (Ariadne & Theseus in the maze anyone???) was beautifully symbolic to me.

And lastly, the ending lines: "They’re no Greek tragedy. They’re going to be a legend." came as a surprise but I loved it. I vacillated between "triumph" & "legend" for the last word. I almost went with "triumph" just for the alliteration, but eventually stayed with "legend" cause it went better with the Greek theme.

When I started shipping it if I did: WHEN HAVEN’T I. Season 2 solidified it for me though. “Well I can tell you what we weren’t doing”. Jfc.

My thoughts: Where do I even begin? I love this ship. I love my boys. It’s my favorite ship. Like, it’s canon, fight me.

What makes me happy about them: They just know each other. One might be upset, the other sees it, and knows exactly how to respond. They give each other shit, but you know they care. And they’re, like, inseparable-- if I’m correct, they’re apart maybe... three-ish times throughout the entire series? And I’m counting the time Simmons “joined” Blue Team, and even then they were hardly apart.

What makes me sad about them: Well, the fact RT hasn’t just... made it canon in the show. Geoff has said it’s canon, I say it’s canon, it’s canon. Muahaha. I guess another thing is, if they haven’t been secretly together this whole time, is (as Tucker points out) that they haven’t just. Said anythiiiiiiiiiiing. (They’ve come close though, like the time they were in front of the firing squad?!). I just want them to be happyyyyyyy.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: Am I allowed to say ‘nothing’? Grimmons fics give me life, okay.

Things I look for in fanfic: Huge fan of them just sitting and shooting the shit or getting into situations together that they actually have to work together to get out of. Or. Like. Anything else. I love. It all.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: *velociraptor noises* I’ve never seen them shipped with anyone else, though I know other ships exist. I’m open to anyone else’s suggestion? I just can’t think of an answer at the moment xD

My happily ever after for them: Wedding, Warthog music. I think it would be really cool if they moved bath to Earth and lived in Hawaii. Please and thank.

Who is the big spoon/little spoon: Grif is the big spoon, Simmons is the little spoon.

What is their favorite non-sexual activity: Bickering, hahaha. Honestly? Talking. Watching crappy movies and laughing their ass off. Drinking and playing music.

As you got out of the shower your phone started to ring, you answered still holding your towel around you. “Hello?”

“Hey lil lady what you doing?”

“Um… Who is this please?”

“Don’t you tell me you don’t know who I am !”

“I’m really sorry but I actually don’t…”

“It’s Calum hood from school? ” “What ? The quarterback ? Yeah right” you scoffed “You don’t believe me? We’ll see about that lil missy.” He said in a deep threatening but sexy tone. “Anyways Mr Gabler has told me to tell you that you need to tutor me, because I flunked the last physics test.”

“But….” “Aaaannd, that if you didn’t he would lower your grade.” He said interrupting you.

Can he even do that? You said to yourself .

“Is that even legal?” You asked “How would I know? You’re the smart one, please do it because I really need your help… I’ll even try to get the team to stop bothering you in school.!”

You could just sense his smirk through the phone. You hated him, but you hated being bullied even more.

“Ok I’ll do it, but only because then you will leave me alone.” “Suit yourself lil lady.” He said in such a seductive voice that you could help the shivers down your spine..

The next day you went to school and went straight to your locker. Hoping that you wouldn’t get bothered by the team again. Amazingly you only got a few side glances from the cheerleaders and some of the players. But nobody approached you, which was a good start. When you arrived at your locker, Calum was apparently waiting for you because as soon as you arrived he looked you up and down and blushed, making you blush.

“Hey lil lady” He exclaimed in such a sexy way that your shivers were back.

Keeping your cool you answered calmly “Would you please stop calling me that it’s very off putting.” “What if that’s the point…” He smirked. “Just leave me alone will you. Haven’t you got something more interesting to do?”

“Not that I know of.” He winked sending the shivers down your spine … Again… You couldn’t be attracted to him could you? He has been such a jerk to you, and now suddenly out of the blue, he starts making conversation with you.

Saved by the bell. “I’ve got to get to class now bye.” You manage to say.

He grabs your arm and in some interesting turn of events you find yourself pushed up against your locker with your mouth inches away from Calums… “I’ll see you tonight princess, don’t forget about the tutoring.” He whispered in your ear.

And then he was gone, leaving you to catch your breath, collect your thoughts and get to class.

Wondering if anyone saw what just happened, hoping you won’t have any problems. But mostly your thoughts were centered on Calums strange behavior.

The end of the day came very quickly, unfortunately for you.

You really didn’t want to have to tutor Calum, he could control you much too easily. You kind of missed him in a way, but you decided not to get to involved. Calum was never going to like you, and anyway you were supposed to hate him. He’s made your life a misery for so long.

As the last bell rang for the end of school, you rushed out of class to get to your locker to collect your things hoping that there might be a slight possibility of you getting out of school before Calum sees you. As you turn the corner into the corridor where your locker is, your heart sinks to your stomach… There he is, back to you, waiting for you. Maybe you don’t need your belongings tonight, maybe you could do without them. As you slowly start to back away, you hear your name being called. “Y/N, Y/N!!” You realize now that you have no choice, and turn back, heading towards your locker. “Did you really think that you could get away from me?” He said in a dangerously low but sexy voice. “Maybe” you shrugged.

You weren’t scared by him and you definitely weren’t phased by his tone of voice. You continued,

“Can we just get this over and done with, I’ve already had enough of you and we haven’t even started.”

“So you genuinely don’t like me?” He sounded surprised.

“Er nope, definitely not.” You answered.

“Huh.” He actually sounded surprised. You rolled your eyes and decided not to answer.

As you walked out with him, you could feel everybody stare at you and it made you uncomfortable as tears started to fall from your eyes. You started running out. You didn’t know where you were going, but you didn’t care. You heard someone shout your name but, you didn’t turn around, you kept on running until you reached a small park with trees in, at this point the tears were streaming down your face, your vision was blurry and your makeup was probably a mess, but in that moment you didn’t care. You sat down on a small tree stump and wept, insulting every single person who has ever bullied you in that school. You hate them all, even Calum. You hate them because they made you loose your self esteem, they are the reason that you are nervous and shy around people, they are the reason you have no friends, that you can’t make friends. Because you shut people out, afraid that they might hurt you in some way.

“Y/N?”

You don’t turn around, you already know who it is.

“What do you want Calum?”

“I want you to tutor me! ”

What the f*ck Calum, what do you think I am ? Some kind of machine.“ You weren’t sad anymore, you were angry, all the anger, that was built up in you through all those years is finally coming out.

"Was it some kind of joke to you? Was that what it was , just having some fun. Because it sure wasn’t funny from my point of view. Have you any idea what it’s like to endure insults every day of your life for 5 years? Do you know ? Do you?…” All through this you were giving him hard punches on the chest, and as you kept on going, the punches became softer until the only thing you could hear was your quiet sobbing, into Calums chest as he rubbed your back comfortingly.

“Listen to me Y/N, if I say sorry I know it won’t make up for anything I’ve done to you in the past few years, but I really want you to know that I apologize and I feel awful that I made you go through this.” He whispered calmly as you looked up at him from your small hight with your head in his chest. “Would you like to come back to my place, we could watch some movies and I could make some hot chocolate, we don’t even have to study how does that sound?” He asked.

You nodded slightly. “Yes please ” you mumbled. “Stay here Y/N while I go get my car okay?” “Okay” you whispered as you pulled away from him and his warmth, instantly making you colder.

As he walked away, you couldn’t help but think about his change in attitude, and how caring he had become in just, a few seconds…

A horn broke your thoughts as you walked up and into his car.

“Well then Y/N, ready to come to my house?”

You laughed at his tone of voice and his eyebrow wiggling as he said that.

“Finally that beautiful smile, that I love.” He muttered under his breath but not quiet enough for you not to hear.

What does he mean by that then? You thought.

The way to Calums house was silent, you didn’t even know you were there until Calum called out your name. You walked inside remarking on how normal his house was. You’d of thought that he was really rich and came from a rich family, but you realized that he didn’t live that far away from you. “Calum ?”

“Yes Y/N?” “Why are you being nice to me ?”

“I don’t need to answer that!” He snapped.

There he goes again, his changing attitude was very weird.

“Well what do you want ? I have pizza, crisps, cookies….?” He said normally.

He definitely has a problem you said to yourself. But to him you said kindly that you would like some cookies.

“Okay, you choose a film and I’ll make the hot chocolates, sounds good ?” “If you don’t mind thank you!” You say shyly.

You put I the film you chose. Of course you had to put on Peter Pan, your one and only, feel good movie.

As Calum came back in with the food, the film was just starting. “Why did you put that on?” He said in a joking matter.

“Because it makes me feel happyyyyyyy.” You said in the most babyish voice possible.

As you said this he burst out laughing. Letting you admire the contour of his face, his lips his jawbone, the sparkle in his eyes as he smiled after laughing. Which made you realize that this boy, was actually, beautiful.

"Shall we watch the film then ?“ He asked after his fit of laughter. "Sure, pass me my hot chocolate and we can.”

During the film, the film you had just put your head on Calums shoulder. And by the end you had fallen asleep. *Calum P.O.V.*

She’s asleep what do I do now. I mean she is pretty cute, with her little rosy cheeks, and even with the makeup stains underneath her eyes. How could I have been so stupid? I broke this fragile person, and I now need to repair what I’ve done. She is so precious sleeping there.

*Y/N P.O.V.*

As Calum sat up and put a pillow underneath your head as so you wouldn’t stur. He unfortunately woke you up without knowing so. You kept your eyes shut hoping to go back to sleep,but instead heard a low and powerful voice singing, that could only be Calum.

You listened, still pretending to be asleep. It sounded as if he was writing a song. When he stopped, you opened your eyes to look at him. He had his back turned to you but said.

“I’m really sorry Y/N, I was so immature. I didn’t think about you.” He sighed and turned round to look at you, slightly jumping when he saw you looking at him. “Did you hear that?” He asked nervously. “Hear what?” You answered.

“What I said.” “I did Calum, thank you very much. But it’s not ok because a sorry doesn’t fix things.” As you got up to leave he pulled you back. “Please Y/N I want you to know I’m sorry, and could we do this again sometime I kinda liked it.” “Sure Calum, see you tomorrow.” And with that you walked out.

After that, you two getting together to have a movie night has been a weekly thing. Either he’d come to yours or you’d go to his and you would each take turns choosing a movie. You were getting on really well now and it was as if the both of you had been friends for ages. At school as well, school had been getting better, it seemed like everyone had forgotten what you used to be known as. You had a new found confidence in you and with Calums help you even made some friends. They weren’t what you called, popular but you had no care for that. Calum had also changed and had stopped hanging out with his so called friends and started hanging with you and your friends more. He got on really well with the boys, but also with the girls.

“Y/N, we’re still on for tonight aren’t we?” Said Calum as he put his tray on the lunch table arriving with Luke and Mel. “Yeah sure Cal I’ll meet you outside when classes finish.” “Cool!” He blushed.

“Will you two just get together already, it’s bugging me now, it’s been more than half a year!” Michael wined.

“I agree.” Said Juliet sitting on Ashton’s lap, who gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

You blushed. “Will you guys please stop, it’s never going to happen.” You sighed. As you said this Calums face fell and he sat quietly for the rest of the meal making you wonder if you had done anything wrong.

That evening you were waiting outside for Calum like you would usually, but he wasn’t coming. After half an hour, you called him. No answer. He had never done this to you before. You started walking home until you got to Calums block and decided to check on him. As per usual you knocked and his mum Joy came to answer the door. “Ah Y/N he’s in his room, and he’s a bit upset I was wondering if you knew why?” She asked.

“Ummm I’m very sorry but I have no idea, I’ll go see him.” You answered, obviously worried about the boy you so deeply cared about.

You ran up the stairs and tripped on the last one making you fall on the floor outside Calums door making a loud bang. “What was that …….. Oh it’s you.” Calum smiled weakly when he saw what position you were in.

You quickly got up. “What’s wrong Cal, why didn’t you wait for me?”

“I had stuff on my mind I’m sorry, but could you please leave. You’re not making this any easier.”

“Cal ? What have I done please…. ?” You whimper. “For goodness sake Y/N just leave me alone.” He screamed at you and attempted to slam the door, but you were to quick and grabbed the sides of his face with your two hands.

“Now you listen to me Hood, don’t you dare scream at me again.” As you loosened your grip you continued. “Now tell me what’s wrong Calum.” And with that he kissed you. Forcefully. You were shocked as you pulled away. “That is why you make it worse Y/N because I like you, I like you a lot.” He whispered. “If only you knew Cal, that I’ve been waiting for that for a while.” And with that you pushed him into his room and kissed him passionately. Your lips moulded together perfectly as if you had only been waiting for this. “Wow.” You said. “That was, different in a good way.” He agreed.
