the naming of cats is a difficult matter by @cinaed, with a podfic by @blackestglass! 3500 words/25 minutes, rated G. I missed this fic when it was new and I have the podfic to thank for discovering it now. The life and times of Whiskers James Garfield Donut, a cat of many names. Delightful to read or to listen to.

The Light Bulb Above My Head by @riathedreamer. Grif & Huggins, 4600 words, rated T. Ria writes a great Grif, and this fic captures his friendship with Huggins really well, exploring a variety of little moments beyond what we see in canon, ending on a poignant sense of loss.

Show Me A Body by @what-happened-to-agent-georgia. Grif & Kai, 5000 words, rated T. A fic that explores Grif’s abandonment by his mother and a childhood spent dealing with loneliness and hardship while caring for his little sister. It captures well the simple emotions of childhood, the bond of siblings with only each other to rely on, and the anger and disappointment of an adult’s understanding.

Build God, Then We’ll Talk by @akisawana . York/Tex, 3100 words, rated E. Warnings: gun kink, prostitution. Aki always writes a fantastic Tex and strong prose in general, and full-armored robot sex approached creatively is one of my favorite things. But most of all here I love the emotion, Tex’s feelings toward York, and all the things left unsaid.

Fic Rec: February 2019

Huh, first time I’ve done this in awhile. But there’s so many good fics, so here we go!

Have You Tried Feeling happier by weatheredlaw: Really, just read anything by weatheredlaw. She is a GREAT writer! But for this specific story, it’s an alternate Post-S15 fic where the Reds and Blues go back to Chorus to recover. It’s an emotional, very well written story that leaves no one out and gets you invested very quickly. It’s made me cry at least once. So go check it out!

Stuck in the Business With You by blackgolaith: Great story! It’s a Grimmons fic (because of course I’d be recommending Grimmons) where Simmons and Grif are put into an arranged marriage. It’s filled with all the awkward and hilarious Grimmons stuff that we expect and they try to ahndle their feelings, and as you’d expect, they suck at it. It’s getting near the end I believe, and trust me, it is worth your time.

The Bargain by RiaTheDreamer: RiaTheDreame ris probably my favorite RvB writer, and ANYTHING that she has done is worth looking at. This one is a new one that started as a one-shot, but has now been expanded. And BOY is it an emotional roller-caster. here’s the short version, Temple teamed up with the Mercs during The Chorus Trilogy and Grif finds this out the hard way/ Ria ia VERY good at writing emotional stories, and this one does NOT hold back the punches. 

Knighted by a Child by AmetureScribes: This is just a freakin cute one-shot. It’s a Modern AU where Grif babysits a little girl named Huggins. If you liked their relationship in S16 and are craving for more, this is a VERY good fic to fill the void. It’s cute and sweet and I highly recommend it~

Miscommunications by HappyLeech: A one-shot where everyone finds out that Grif is married… assumingly not with Simmons though. Assumingly. Turns out… well, just go read it and you’ll see. It’s a really fun one-shot~

Here is the birthday gift I made for Amvial (who deactivated but they are still on twitter a lil as @sharkglad) I decided to go with a cute griflina thing with Grif giving Lina a memorial Epsilon tattoo! I really like the headcanon that Grif is a little artsy and I thought this would be cute! I seriously love these two so much!! and if u want and have a twitter you can go wish them a happy birthday! The sight is such a typical one that, at first, Tucker thinks nothing of it. Wash running laps on the deserted track by the barracks is nothing new. Except for the fact that it’s three in the goddamn morning.

Or, Wash is haunted by the memory of his time spent in Temple’s freezer. Tucker helps.

The haze of early morning mist hovers above the grass, illuminated by the stadium lights blazing down on the track circling a small football field. The base is perfectly still at this time of night. At least, it is now that Chorus is no longer at war. The steady chirp of crickets is interrupted only by the harsh crunch of gravel under Tucker’s shoes as he follows the path down to the edge of the track. He watches across the field as Wash makes the bend and starts to loop back to where Tucker’s waiting for him.

“Halloween’s not for six months, Wash,” Tucker calls as the Freelancer approaches.

Wash’s run slows until he staggers to a stop in front of the teal soldier, hands braced on his knees.

“What?” He pants.
