#teddy lupin being a moody teenager

for the RS Candy Hearts challenge! my prompt was 'top chef', I went in a slightly different direction but I hope you all like it! follow @goodboylupin  for creating the amazing fest. i had a lot of fun :) this was also (very loosely) inspired by @casualmaraudering ‘s posts about a hellspawn teddy au, where teddy dislikes his dad's new boyfriend. follow them too! finally, if you like this, drop a comment or an ask in my inbox check out my ao3 @/siriusblackfanclub and have fun with some of my other works! ‘Top Chef’ Teddy knew he wouldn’t have a good day as he woke up at 3am, unable to get back to sleep. He wasn’t nervous - quite the opposite - but he could tell that his dad was. After years of not dating anyone ever since the divorce from his mum Tonks, Remus had finally found himself a boyfriend that he had invited for dinner that night. Teddy had tried everything in his power to get out of it: pretending to be sick, trying to make plans with his best friend Matt, homework and purposefully trying to land himself in detention – but nothing worked. He was forced to go to dinner with his dad’s new motorcycle-riding, tattoo-wearing, no-job-having boyfriend. Teddy was completely and utterly fucked.  It’s not that he wasn’t happy for his dad, he just couldn’t help but be protective over Remus. And that on top of everything he’d been told about this new boyfriend Sirius, which Remus had said with the biggest heart eyes but to Teddy had just put him off more, really didn’t give him the best impression. His dad just chalked his reluctance up to him being a moody teenager, which frustrated him to say the least. Why did Remus have to go out and find the most obnoxious boyfriend possible? And why did he have to drag Teddy into some happy family bullshit?  He was just settling down for an afternoon nap as he heard a sharp knock at his door and Remus enter, wearing his favourite red sweater and tan pants, “Ted, Sirius’ll be here in an hour! Have you even showered yet?”  “He’ll be here in an hour,” Teddy tried to reason. “I have plenty of time to get ready.”  “Now please,” His dad said with his best stern expression. He hated that expression. “You haven’t even cleaned your room, which I’ve been telling you to do for weeks!”  “It’s fine dad, it’s not like Sirius is going to see it,” Teddy replied, bored.

Hiya! I love your writing! Would you consider writing a draco malfoy x reader soulmate au? Maybe post war? Like you feel a harsh burn when you meet your soulmate but it immediately stops when you look in theirs eyes?
Carrot Cake
A/N: Thank you anon for being my first request and I hope you enjoy it!

Soulmates were a tricky thing. Even more when you found your perfect match in the entire world by the touch of skin against skin, showing you what true pain was before it all went away with the look of the one person that would love you no matter what. The fire that they ignited in you being washed away by you swimming in their eyes, diving into their gaze and letting it take all the pain away.
That sounded like a fairy tale, didn´t it?
Well try it at school, with thousands of teenagers looking for the one they would love until they took their last breath. It got intense at times.
You had witnessed the desperation of many at the very halls of Hogwarts. Girls and boys alike, walking way to closely to the one they thought was the one for them. “Accidentally” brushing hands to just get the disappointing feeling of a sweaty hand or the looks of confusion in the person. Many didn’t even try to date until they were sure it was their soulmate.
“I’m saving me the pain of a heartbreak.” they would say as they carried on with their lives.
It was funny to watch when two people found out they were soulmates. Your favorite one being at a Quidditch match. It was almost summer and the uniforms were just the necessary layers to prevent they passed out because of the heat. Hufflepuff was playing against Ravenclaw, the two seekers flying after the golden snitch at such speed they were flashes before the eyes of the crowd.
The Ravenclaw seeker had the snitch at the slightest stretch of her arm, but the Hufflepuff team couldn’t lose so he did the only thing that came to his mind. He forced his broom to the right, clashing his body against the one of the Ravenclaw seeker.
The matched stopped completely at the cries from both seekers rolling on the ground, their fall wasn’t that high so everyone stared at them with wide eyes as they screamed in pain. Only when one student reacted everyone understood what was happening. They were soulmates.
“LOOK AT HER, YOU FOOL!” someone yelled from the back of the crowd, and so he did. He forced the pain aside and opened his eyes meeting tear stained ones.
They felt as a cold bucket of water was poured over them, the pain fading into a feeling of bliss and fulfillment. The young seekers had found each other.
But you? You were neutral. You see, you were sure neither of your friends was your soulmate or you would have known since the moment you shook hands for the first time. And it wasn’t like you could go around touching every single person you crossed paths with. So you took the matter with patience.
One thing was for sure: You would meet your soulmate. Whether you were eleven, sixteen, thirty or fifty years old was up to fate.
How ever your friends, or more like one friend, was extremely worried about you.
“You won’t find them if you don’t look for them, Y/N” Hermione scolded you with a stern look. This was the third time she had brought up the subject in the week, whether she did it out of genuine concern or just mere curiosity of who you were destined to be, you didn’t know.
“That’s easy for you to say ‘Mione,” you said with the tilt of you head “You found yours when you were eleven.” your eyes falling to her and Ron’s hands together.
She rolled her eyes, dropping his boyfriend’s hand before she turned to the dark haired boy at your right  “Harry?” she said, looking for the some kind of support.
He just shrugged, giving her a tight smile before returning to the book he seemed to have glued to his body. You’ll have to talk to him about it soon.
Hermione’s scoff returned your attention to her “All I’m saying is: It wouldn’t hurt if you made the effort, you know?” she said in defeat “Your soulmate is not going to drop out of the sky or go and knock at your door. You have to get out there and try.”
You smiled at her, and she returned it with a hopeful glint in her eyes “You’re right,” you said, pausing a little “Although he might drop out of the sky. We live in world with flying brooms, remember?” you said with an innocent smile.
Ron and Harry snickered around you, bursting in a full fit of laughter as Hermione yanked his hands away from yours. “You’re impossible.” she grunted, crossing her hands over her chest and turning away from you.
“Just leave her be, Hermione.” Harry defended you “If she doesn’t want to push it that’s up to her.”
You gave him a genuine smile, mouthing a thank you his way. He nodded his head with a smile, returning to the open page in front of him. Harry was right, you weren’t going to push it.
**********************************************************************
You couldn’t deny that after the war panicked was a current state you found yourself at least once a day. What if Hermione was right? You could have made the effort back at Hogwarts to find your soulmate, but no one could assure you that he or she was there.
Still you would have known. What if they died at war? Many students died at the hands of Voldemort’s forces, students and adults alike that had every possibility of being your soulmate. Age wasn’t a problem and you knew that first hand. The story of Professor Lupin and Tonks was well known among the wizards, besides the fact that you had meet the little Teddy Lupin in one of your visits to Harry. The boy was proof that the Soulmate bond was never wrong.
No one ever told you anything about what happened if your soulmate died before you realized who they are. Yes, you met but you never touched or interacted enough to realize you were soulmates.
At 25 years of being alive you had meet thousands of people who you had never even shared the same space. What if you already met them and you never realized because the interaction was so fast. Was that even possible?
The sound of the bell at your door ringing brought you back to reality, you stood from the stool you sat and straighten your apron before the person on the other side of the counter got there.
“Hello,” you greeted them with a smile “What can I get for you today?”.
After the war the last thing you wanted to do was work at the Ministry of Magic or anything that could put your life in danger again. So you worked to save enough money to open your own café, the recipes of your mother and your love for coffee making it success after the first year of opening. It also helped that the upper part of the little building worked as your home. A flat with a room for you and a big open space for the living room and a small but functional kitchen.
The person in front of you was clearly a new customer, reading over the menu hanged high on the wall as he took all the options in “I’ll have a black coffee with a slice of the double chocolate cake, please.” he said with a smile.
You nodded your head “Be ready in just a second!” you said turning to the coffee maker to get a fresh pot. He went to the stools that faced the busy street of Diagon Alley, the wooden bar filled with all kinds of beautiful plants that Neville had once showed you and you ended up loving.
The door burst open again, the sound of the outside world filling the place with the flowing chatter of the group that had just entered, taking one of the tables from far in the corner.
“Here you go, Sir.” you told the man waiting patiently on the bar.
He turned to you with a smile, taking the bag from your hand “Thank you!” he said, paying you and waving goodbye. You hadn’t even noticed the crowd that had gathered in the register until someone spoke from behind you.
“Well if it’s none other than Y/N Y/L/N,” said Blaise Zabini with a grin in his face, his eyes roaming all over your body before they landed on your eyes “Couldn’t find a better job?” he asked, the smug look in his face making you want nothing more than to throw the hot pot of coffee in his clearly expensive clothes.
But you held yourself back, you had dealt with clients like him before. With maybe too much force you placed the pot in the counter, putting a fake smile on your face “What can I get for you today?” you asked kindly, hoping the tick you felt in your eye was only a game your mind was playing on you.
“Awww,” he said with a fake pout of his lip “Sensitive subject?” he said with little voice. The ones accompanying him laughed under their breath, taking a glance their way  you recognize them as Pansy Parkinson and Gregory Goyle. She was still one of the prettiest yet meanest persons you had ever met, her sense of fashion hadn’t changed much, fortunately, her looks the only attribute you could save from her. Goyle was the same as he was back at Hogwarts, he looked more mature and adult-like but the chuckle at what Zabini had just said proved you that not much had changed.
“Are you going to order something or can I carry on with the rest of the line?” you asked, your patience starting to wear thin as more people got behind them.
“Answer me this first and maybe I’ll order something,” he said, resting his arms over the counter. The bell to the door sounded again but you paid it no mind, your hands starting to get sweaty at the sardonic look in his face  “Is it true you haven’t found your soulmate yet?”
You stared at him, your eyes turning into a glare before you took a menacing step forward “This is not an interrogation” you said lowly “Order something or get out of my shop.” you snapped.
He raised his arms in defeat, a breathy laugh coming out of his lips “Whether you wanted it or not you just answered my question.” he laughed, glancing back to Pansy and Goyle “No wonder your so moody.”
“Zabini,” someone said beside him, your eyes shifting doubtfully to the side to see a tall man. He had serious face, his hazel eyes cold as he stared almost in annoyance at him “Did you choose this place only to bother her or are you actually going to order something?” he growled.
“Oh, c’mon Theo. We were just having a casual chat.” he said innocently “You remember Y/L/N, don’t you?” he said pointing at you.
He only spared a glance at you, his attention shifting quickly as another man joined them. Draco Malfoy.
“Of course I do,” Theo answered “I also remember how she once hexed your ass so bad you couldn’t leave your room for a week.” he said, erasing the smug look from his face “Need I continue or are you going to finally order something? Is the least you can do after making her lose her time on you.”
Blaise was fuming when he turned to you, never meeting your eyes “Three black coffees, one with cream and sugar and whatever they want.” he grunted, turning in his heel before you could even answer.
You turned to Theo, giving him a small yet genuine smile “What can I get for the two of you?” you asked, seeing his eyes go over the selection of cakes you had displayed.
“A mocha and a cappuccino, and one slice of the carrot cake.” he said, giving you a nod.
“I’ll have it by your table in a moment.” you told him, making a move with your hand for the next person in line to order.
They both muttered a thank you, keeping your eyes in the back of their heads as they went to the table their friends sat at. You shook your head, facing the lady next in line “Thank you for your patience.” you said, getting over with all the orders before you got to work.
The girl that you hired to help you moved at such a speed you almost missed her when she was about to take the order to the Slytherins “Not that one!” you said, stopping her before she was out of the kitchen “I’ll take it.” you mumbled grabbing the tray.
“Are you sure?” she said with a cock of her eyebrow “‘Cause they weren’t that nice before.” she said bitterly.
“I’m sure, Raven.” you said with a smile “You can start making the batter for the carrot cake, that was the last slice.”
She smiled, nodding her head before she turned, half the ingredients out before you even made it out of the kitchen. You walked to the table, putting a smile on your face “Three black coffees, one with sugar and cream,” you repeated their entire order as you placed each item in the table, a satisfactory look in your face as you ended “Anything else I can get you?”
They all stayed silent, never meeting your eyes. You catched a glimpse of Draco rolling his eyes, his eyes meeting yours “That would be all, thank you.” he said.
You nodded and turned, hearing a small part of their conversation.
“I didn’t order that.” Draco muttered as Theo placed the cake in front of him.
“Did you really think I forgot your birthday last week?” he asked, and you couldn’t help the smile that krept on your face. “Happy birthday, mate.”
They were the last ones to leave the shop that day, ordering all kinds of drinks they put their eyes on. You wondered if they would be able to sleep that night.
“Uh...Y/N?” Raven called you from the front part of the shop.
“Yes, darling?” you said, walking out to where she stood cleaning the tables. Her eyes shifting from you to the untouched table.
“I think this is for you.” she said shakily, handing you a neatly folded napkin.
You looked at her with a frown, opening the piece of paper to see it was a note. A beautifully written note.
I apologize for my idiotic friends and their behavior.
It had no signature but you had a pretty good guess as to who had left it. You turned to Raven with a soft smile “It’s just note Raven, nothing wrong with that.” you said, your smile dropping as she moved her body and let you see what she had been hiding. There in the table was a very generous tip, one that you hadn’t seen anyone leave.
“Merlin,” you mumbled turning to Raven who still had a panicked look in her eyes.
“Let’s close alright, it’s getting late.”
**********************************************************************
It had been two weeks since the incident with Blaise Zabini and even if they had been of your best customers you felt relieved when none of them had showed their face again. Of course, you weren’t that lucky.
It was a slow morning, friday mornings where no one went looking for coffee and instead saved their money and energy for the weekend. So, the bell ringing made you jump in anticipation until you saw them, Theo Nott and Draco Malfoy walking inside the shop.
You took a deep breath, watching them near the counter “Morning,” you smiled “What can I get you?” you asked.
You were glad it was them and not the others, surprisingly being the nicest ones. But still you couldn’t help but feel intimidated, they both have cold stares and a permanent tired looking face.
“Morning Y/N,” said Theo, surprising you by using your first name “Two black coffees, please.”
You nodded almost out of their sight before you heard Draco call “Do you have carrot cake?” he asked you, a chuckle emerging from Theo before he turned to pick a table. You smiled at him nodding your head, he thanked you and joined his friend at the table, slumping in his seat.
You couldn’t help but wonder what was wrong with him. You remembered him from school, always with a confident air to him, a bright smile that had everyone at his feet. He was a Malfoy for Godric's sake! Now he looked… defeated.
“Two black coffees and carrot cake,” you said once at their table “Fresh out of the oven.” you smiled down at him and he gave you a small smile, the corners of his mouth barely lifting. “Let me know if you need anything else.” you said.
You moved your hands to grab the tray, Draco’s hand reaching for his mug at the same time, knuckled brushing slightly. You felt a hot sensation, a gasp leaving your lips as you brought your hand up to your chest.
“Everything alright?” Theo asked from your side, your eyes never leaving Draco as you hoped to maybe see a reaction. His eyes dead as they always were.
“Yes...Enjoy your coffee.” you said to quickly, grabbing the tray and running back to the kitchen. You rubbed your thumb over your knuckles, Could it be?
Their voices caught your attention, being the only ones in the shop besides you made it difficult not to eavesdrop. They could probably whisper and you would get every single word they uttered.
“You gotta get out there,” Theo sighed “I know you don’t want to but not all is lost.”
“She was supposed to be the one,” Draco mumbled, his voice void of any emotion “Not fucking Zabini.” he grunted, stabbing his cake with the fork multiple times.
“So Astoria is not your soulmate,” Theo said with a knowing look “You should see it as a win.” he uttered getting a glare from Draco as he stopped the stabbing “You won’t have Daphne as your sister in law, you won’t have to endure their parents ridiculous expectations on you as her husband plus, do you even liked her?” he asked with a frown.
“I was starting to.” he mumbled bitterly.
“Then stop.” Theo ordered “And get yourself together, you don’t want to meet your soulmate and look like your fresh out of Azkaban.” he mumbled, sipping away before he took a look to the hour. He was close to spitting the bitter liquid, placing the cup down “Shit, I’m late.” he said, tapping his pockets before Draco waved a hand in his way.
“Go,” he told him “I got it.”
“Thanks mate,” he said, his eyes scanning the place before they landed on you behind the counter “Y/N!” he called and you poked your head over the counter “Keep the man some company for me, would you?” he said, smiling at the nod you gave him, running out the door before you could say another thing.
Your eyes drifted to Draco, sitting awkwardly at the table. You chuckled, getting up to walk to him, grabbing the empty mugs you cocked your head “Well c’mon, the stools are more comfortable, believe it or not.” you told him, listening to the shuffling sound before his steps filled the shop.
He sat in the one nearer to where you sat behind the counter. You stared at him before it turned weird, you shook your head “Do you want more coffee?” you said, wiggling your eyebrow at him before you said “Carrot cake?”
He laughed softly, giving you his empty mug. You poured him the coffee, bringing the cake out anyway. He gave you a questioning look, and you kept on cutting the slice “With the tip your friend left the last time you were here, I should give you a year worth of cake and coffee.” you laughed, placing the cake in a plate and giving it to him.
He smiled at you, taking the plate before he lowered his head “That would have been me, actually.” he mumbled, and you froze.
“What?” you stuttered, with wide eyes “That was you?” you asked him and he nodded, taking a bite of the cake. “Woah, well thank you,” you said, sitting in your stool “You made a little girl’s day that evening.”
He couldn’t help the disappointing feeling that settled in him, he doubted but the words left his mouth before he could even think about them “You have kids?” he asked.
You stared at him dumbfounded, laughing softly at his assumption “Oh, no.” you said, relief washing over him “Raven, the girl that works with me. She started working so she could buy her first broom.” you shared.
“You gave it all to her?” he asked, and you nodded with smile.
Draco didn’t understand what he was feeling right there with you, but he didn’t want it to stop. This was the happiest he had felt in weeks.
**********************************************************************
Draco’s sporadic buy of coffee turned into daily visits, sometimes accompanied by Theo, but mostly only him. He had his preferred seat, near where you took the orders and prepared the coffee. It was rare the occasion that someone sat on the bar, the place used by lonely customers.  It became Draco’s predetermined place.
“Draco,” you said, one day when all the clients were happy and away with their orders “Don’t get me wrong, I love your visits and that you spend so much time here,” he raised an eyebrow when you paused, looking for the right words “Don’t you have a work to go to?”
His entire expression changed, he looked tormented and sad at the same time. He placed his cup down, avoiding your eyes “I’m supposed to be on vacations.” he said in you frown in confusion.
“Draco, as flattered as I am, my coffee shop is not a vacation destination.” you told him and he chuckled, daring to meet your eyes.
“No, I-,” he sighed in defeat “I was supposed to be on my honeymoon right now.” he said.
“What?” you asked leaning in the counter, holding your head in your hands “What happened?”
“She wasn’t my soulmate,” he said bitterly “Zabini ended up being her soulmate and now they are planning their wedding.”
You were very confused and he could tell by the look on your face “Apparently she found a way to fake the bond, did it on me before she found out he was her soulmate.”
You scoffed, and he meet your eyes “What a bitch move.” you mumbled, realizing that you said it out loud “No offense, but you should never do that to someone. Not even I’m that desperate.” you laughed, walking to the register to take Dave’s order. The sweet man that had found your shop the same day Draco and his gang had the first time.
But Draco was focused on the words you had said. Not even I’m that desperate:
You didn’t have a soulmate yet. A spark of hope made his heart flutter as he watched you give the man his order, a kind smile always on your face as you waved him goodbye.
Maybe not all was lost.
**********************************************************************
“You didn’t have to stay so late.” you told Draco, his tall frame leaned against the door as he watched you put in place the last chair. “I literally live here, well, not here but upstairs,” you laughed “You know what I mean.” you said, your face changing to a concerned one “Draco?”
He had stayed silent, through all the cleaning process he had help you wash and put everything in place. You didn’t find it odd, the man was suffering and he had relived all that by sharing it with you. You let him to his thoughts for a moment.
But now he was watching you intently, almost as he was admiring you. You started to feel shaky, and even more when he took a hesitant step towards you, his eyes lighting up when you didn’t take one back yourself.
“Draco, what are you doing?” you asked shakily, crossing your arms over your chest as a way to physically shield you from his burning eyes.
“I want to ty something,” he said, his grey eyes shifting to your hand before they meet your E/C ones. He was inches away from you, if your breathing became any more deeper you chests would brush against each other. But you knew that wouldn’t work.
It had to be your skin against his.
“Y/N?” he called again and you looked at him with glossy eyes, the tears barely staying there. “Can I?” he asked you, his voice so soft you barely heard him.
“I don’t...What if it’s not us?” you asked him, the crack in your voice paining him more than any other thing he had ever gone through.
He took a shaky breath “Do you trust me?” he asked you. You nodded your head immediately and he smiled softly “Keep your eyes on me, okay?” he said, leaning down slightly.
He took one last look at you and then he grabbed your hand.
A cry of pain left your mouth as you felt the warmth spread all over your body, the heat concentrated in your wrist where his hand had touched you. The burning sensation was quickly washed away by his grey eyes on you. The warm feeling of the bond replaced by the cold feeling of his hand.
Draco Malfoy was your soulmate.
You laughed breathlessly, looking at his hand in your wrist before you faced him again. A smile that mirrored your own in his face.
You threw your arms around his neck, taking him by surprise as he stumbled back a little. He placed his hands on your waist and brought you closer to him, his lips finding yours in a soft kiss. He kissed you so softly, running his hand up and down your back, landing again on your sides.
You had your fingers tangled in his hair before he pulled away from you, his eyes still closed before he opened them to see the brightest smile he had ever seen. You kept on playing with his hair, placing soft kisses on his cheeks.
“You taste like carrot cake.”
He chuckled resting his head on your shoulder as he hugged you, letting you hold him as you scratched his scalp with your fingertips. “That’s all your fault,” he muttered, letting go of his hold on you. “I’m glad I found you.” he said, giving you a quick kiss.
“I’m glad I found you too.”

POV: I was supposed to write a little one paragraph rant abt this idea I had but then it became longer.
I just had the BEST idea for some super adorable Teddy Lupin angst 🥺♥️ ahhh it would star Tonks as a icon who’ll teach Teddy abt gender identity and sexuality (cuz I mean I feel like gender identity is complicated enough as it is but when you’re a metamorphmagus, it’s like a million times more complicated) and then Remus and Sirius will start dating cuz Remus and Tonks are divorced. I haven’t decided yet if Remus is gay or not but if Remus is gay it’s gonna be SUPER angsty but in a background way cuz of the internalized homophobia that lead him to marry tonks and tonks feeling used but Teddy’s a kid and Tonks is an amazing parent so she won’t tell Teddy all of this stuff. Anyway Teddy is mad cuz Sirius is “taking” his dad and also Teddy is NOT a werewolf but I think he’ll have little symptoms like maybe he gets some muscle pain or smth around the full moon but his dad doesn’t know
I’m debating whether Teddy should be like 7, 8, 10, or a teenager. But if I do make him a teen, then I’ll have to include his shitty mental health (sorry I decided that’s a mandatory part of being a teenager in my fic) but I’ll get to explore his sexuality 🤔 anyway yeah I want Teddy to be kinda moody and just argue / ignore his dad more and more and then Remus doesn’t realize that its bc of Sirius cuz Remus has low self esteem and bc communication between dads and kids isn’t always the best
The endgame will be Teddy/Victoire but Teddy is def not gonna be straight (I think maybe he’ll be bi / pan and I haven’t decided if I want to make him be nb or not. Tonks will use she/they pronouns but only a bit after the divorce bc… it’s complicated.) anyway Teddy and Victoire are gonna be friends since they were kids but they’ll date other people first before they end up together.
Sirius is trying to get to know Teddy and Teddy is annoyed at his dad inviting Sirius over all the time so Teddy is like “ok imma go to Victoire’s house” and later Sirius sees a picture of Vic / it comes up in convo that Vic is part Veela and makes a comment like “atta boy” or “damn, she’s gonna be a heartbreaker huh” or smth else like that (Sirius is gay btw) and Teddy is gonna be SO PISSED like how fucking dare u objectify her, she’s a CHILD, and her heritage doesn’t mean she wants to be subjected to the fucking male gaze!!!! Anyway he won’t say everything but he’ll be mad and be like no. And Sirius will just laugh him off and in that moment Teddy will decide that he DESPISES Sirius 💕 he already didn’t like him for dating his dad, but now he hates him. Also Teddy is petty like me and is like fine imma go to my room 😤 when Remus and Sirius are being super annoying and before Remus used to go check on Teddy when Teddy went to his room annoyed (or Teddy would come down later and Remus would be waiting for him and they’d reconcile and have hot chocolate together) but now Remus is just talking to Sirius downstairs and Teddy’s like he doesn’t care abt me 😭😭😭 and cries into his pillow and then morphs the redness away and then he’s annoyed that his dad can’t tell that he was crying
Meanwhile remus is wondering why Teddy is acting the way he is but chalks it up to him getting older / starting to become a teen (again, idk how old he is. I feel like make 9 or 10? He could be a preteen cuz that might fit best with the storyline but also I don’t want him to be at Hogwarts all the time yk, that comes later) and Remus is sad that he doesn’t think Teddy talks to him as much anymore. He pretends it doesn’t hurt when one day Teddy says that he wants to go back to his mom’s place in the middle of a week he was supposed to spend with Remus
Teddy just feels like he’s losing his dad, and sometimes he wants to say smth but then he hears his dad downstairs, laughing with Sirius, and Remus just sounds so happy that Teddy feels shitty begrudging him that happiness. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel what he feels. So no, Teddy doesn’t want them to break up anymore but he can’t stand watching his dad slip away. Because he feels like his dad doesn’t love him anymore. Or maybe he does, but once upon a time, his priority was Teddy. Now, he loves Sirius more. And that’s okay, Teddy thinks, wiping his tears away. It’s okay because Sirius makes his dad so happy and his dad never used to smile so wide. Teddy can’t make his dad that happy. He feels his dad would choose Sirius over him, so he doesn’t want to make him chose.
But he can’t stop crying and he’s tired and being at his dad’s place isn’t fun anymore because there’s no more hot chocolate and reading together quietly and talking about everything as they cook together and eat together. No, now it’s just Teddy sitting quietly while his dad and Sirius talk about stupid grown up stuff that Teddy doesn’t care about. It’s not that Teddy doesn’t understand what they’re talking about, he does, it’s just boring, because who cares about Wizengamot or Dumbledore or whatever? He just wanted to tell his dad about the science project he did last week, about the bit of accidental magic he’d done when he was over at Grandma Andy’s house, about the way he’d learned to braid Niki’s hair. But no, Sirius and Remus were talking about some “Marlene McKinnon” or whatever her name was. Teddy honestly couldn’t care less.
He can’t keep asking to go to his friends’ house after school every time he’s at his dad’s, he knows it. He hates asking his dad to drive or fly him there because then Sirius wants to tag along, or even if Sirius isn’t there his dad will make comments like “oh that’s the bakery Sirius recommended” and it takes all of Teddy’s power to keep his mouth shut.
He asks to go back to his mom’s place, and Dad calls his mom and Teddy is hoping that his mom will say yes — and she does! Dad agrees to take him back. The drive over is silent until he asks Teddy if everything’s okay and for a second Teddy wants to burst into tears and tell him everything. But no, Teddy isn’t going to be that selfish and childish. He just nods, and the moment passes.
When Teddy gets to his mom’s house, she seems a little worried but she just smiles and hugs him. Later, Teddy’s in his room, crying — maybe he should have stayed at his dad’s place and tried to spend as much time as he could with his dad before his dad decided he didn’t want to see Teddy anymore. Tonks walks in on Teddy crying and is so concerned. Teddy tries to say he’s fine but it’s clearly not convincing his mom, not with the sobs and the big tears rolling down his face. He makes her swear not to tell his dad and then it spills out of him. Tonks hugs him and comforts him. Later, they tell him that he should try to talk to his dad, but Teddy just says no, and Tonks sighs, conflicted.
At another (maybe earlier??) point in the story tonks will come home / come pick up Teddy even tho she had smth to do (like maybe w a friend or at work) and even tho they don’t tell Teddy, Teddy overhears and when Teddy makes a comment like “sorry I make u skip ___” she’s like no don’t be silly, u always come first and Teddy is crying and he’s like okay at least my mom won’t leave me 😭♥️
Also tonks is demiromantic in this. She good friends with Charlie, who is ace, and if this takes place when Teddy is a little older (ie above the age of 10) then this fic will also include Teddy’s sexuality crisis 😝 I haven’t decided yet if tonks would have a love interest in this. If they do, it’ll be someone who they’ve been close friends with for a long time and that Teddy already knows rly well (not Charlie tho). And Tonks is super worried abt how Teddy will take it but Teddy is surprisingly okay with it?? It’ll also happen at least a year (or two) after Remus/Sirius start dating so Teddy will be a bit older, and also the dynamic will be different cuz Teddy already knows Tonks’ partner rly well. And that will also lowkey annoy Remus cuz Remus is like??? Why is Teddy so antagonistic towards my bf but not Tonks’
Also at some point Teddy will either be friends w someone or be dating a guy and will mention the person and Remus either won’t know who they are or won’t know they’re dating and then will find out and be like :((( i wish my son would tell me things
If Harry is Teddy’s godfather in this, then maybe Remus and Sirius start dating around the time James Sirius Potter is born so Teddy going through a lot of stuff which is partially why he reacts so badly?? Idk
Oh also Sirius and Tonks are NOT related in this lmao
Also Sirius makes a comment about Hogwarts houses and Teddy just gives him the death stare like “My grandma was a Slytherin” and Sirius quickly tries to backtrack like “oh umm Slytherin isn’t that bad!! They’re, uh, ambitious and stuff!! they’re better than Hufflepuff??” And then Teddy’s face looks thunderous and he’s just like “my mom is a hufflepuff” and turns and leaves the room and Sirius is just like fuck I keep messing up, this kids absolutely hates me huh
Also cue cringey attempts of Sirius thinking he’s relatable and a Cool Uncle when rly Teddy just wants Sirius to leave him alone and let him read
What house should Teddy be in??? Personally headcanons of him for me usually have him in either Gryffindor or Hufflepuff but I feel like purely out of spite he wouldn’t be in Gryffindor so maybe Ravenclaw?? Idk
Victoire is obv a Ravenclaw ✨
Anyway yeah obv at some point Teddy and Remus will reconcile and then later he’ll kinda bond with Sirius but !!! THE ANGST! THE DRAMA ✨♥️
Fuck now I rly wanna write this

Harry Potter Tag
Just for fun since I seem to be in the Harry Potter hellhole, with rereading all the books. I am currently on the 5th book “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”
1. Favourite Harry Potter Book
“That one is hard, cause I like them all. But I would say ‘Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince’.”
2. Least Favourite Harry Potter Book
“‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’. I just can’t with that book. Also because Sirius dies in there, Umbridge and the whole Ministry of Magic situation.”
3. Favourite Harry Potter Movie
“‘Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban’. It is just a wonderful movie as a whole. Alfonso Cuaron made it so special with his unique way of directing a movie. Making Hogwarts not just about magic, robes and wands. I love how the students wear normal clothes outside of classes. I love Lupin, Sirius, the design of the Dementors. Even the werewolf design.”
4. Least Favourite Harry Potter Movie
“‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’. Nothing against the book, but the movie is just so weird. Like why in the hell does nobody get a haircut. Are Harry, Ron, Fred and George in the rebellious teenage phase. The tournament is good, the resurrection Voldemort and the duel is amazing. But still not my favourite.”
5. Favourite Quote
From the books:
“There is no need to call me ‘sir’ Professor” (from Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince)
Followed close by:
“Yeah, Quirrell was a great teacher. There was just that minor drawback of him having Lord Voldemort sticking out of the back of his head!”
From the movies
Ron Weasley: Oh, my God. What am I going to do? My wife’s all alone downstairs. Harry Potter: Ron, you don’t have a wife. Ron Weasley: Oh, right.
6. Your Favourite Weasley
“Bill Weasley. Don’t ask why I just like him.”
7. Favourite Female Character
” Luna Lovegood. With very close Hermione Granger behind her.”
8. Favourite Villain
“I am not gonna say Voldemort. That one is too obvious. Maybe Barty Crouch Jr.”
9. Favourite Male Character
“Probably Remus Lupin. Followed close by Neville Longbottom. But I am sorry, Remus got bitten by Fenrir Greyback when he was like very young, went to Hogwarts feeling he had no friends but then he had friends. But after Hogwarts everyone thought he was a traitor because of being  a werewolf. He lived in poverty, could never really get a job because of the prececution against werewolves. And then he died in the Battle of Hogwarts. Not to mention he lost all of his friends before he himself died.”
10. Favourite Professor
“Not gonna say Lupin. Maybe Fake Moody. Yeah fake moody was amazing. Also Snape. But he can be an ass. Oh McGonagall. So many.”
11. A Character You Felt Different About In The Movies
“Not sure Bellatrix maybe…she never seems so crazy in the books, at least to me she didn’t. So maybe her. Also Draco seemed to be less evil in the movies than in the books.”
12. A Movie You Prefer To The Book
“‘Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix’ Clear answer.”
13. Remake Any Of The Movies. Which One?
“‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ Probably that one.”
14. Which House Was Your First Gut Feeling You’d Be Part Of?
“When Harry Potter first came out, I always thought I was a Ravenclaw. Turns out I am more of a silver green type of girl.”
15. Which Class Would Be Your Favourite?
“Care of Magical Creatures. I would love that.”
16. Which Spell Would Be The Most Useful?
“Not sure actually…maybe Stupify. I mean for Expelliarmus you need to have some aim not to jug the other person across the room. Oh no Accio. For the lazy people.”
17. Which Character Do You Think You’d Instantly Become Friends With?
“Maybe Hermione…but I would probably go for Luna. Or maybe Neville. I am not very outgoing.”
18. If You Could Earn One Of Three Hallows, Which Would It Be?
“Invisibility Cloak. Honestly the other two I think are not as useful.”
19. Is There Any Aspect Of The Books You Want To Change?
“Yeah…not have Sirius Black die, like seriously. Or maybe have a more meaningful situation and conversation with Tonks and Lupin. Don’t let Teddy be parentless.”
20. If You Could Bring One Character Back To Life, Who Would It Be?
“Sirius Black. Fucking let the man have a peaceful and happy life. Yeah I know Lupin would still be dead. But Sirius spent 12 years in Azkaban. Had to be on the run for another two years and one year trapped in the house of his parents. Let that man live with Harry after the war is over somewhere remote. Have him look after Harry and Ginny’s children. Be there ‘pet dog’. No matter.”
21. Hallows or Horcruxes
“Hallows. I am not going to split my soul and murder someone.”

Ted wants his favourite grandson to know he loves him.
No one had been able to coerce the young pre- teen out of his room. Just him being moody; those teenage years - let him mope a bit, he’ll come out the other side in a better mood. But it has always extended farther than that. Teddy had always been a sensitive child, but as he grew, this innate trait gave him the ability to know when other people weren’t doing very well. It didn’t help him now however, as his nan threw in the towel for the evening.
He sniffles, angrily wiping hot tears from his face as he curls his body inwards, making a sort of make shift fort in around his bed as he tries to focus on a single spot on the pillows in front of him. He hears a quiet knock on the door, but he doesn’t answer. Doesn’t have to, as his grandpa comes in quietly, leaving the door slightly ajar as the light from the hallway filters in. Ted manuevers quite expertly around his grandson’s fort (very experienced now as this was something Teddy did every time he was upset) until he reaches the drawbridge.
It didn’t matter to Ted how old his little boy got, he would be there for him when he needed him.
“Room for one more?”
There’s a long silence, but then - a sniffle, “there’s a password.”
“Ah! Gosh, you’re right! That’s quite silly of me, isn’t it? Okay, alright... is it... Teddy Lupin is the best grandson?”
A shift is heard underneath the blankets as a barely audible “no, grandpa.” is heard.
“No!?” A theatrical sigh. “Could have done though. Thought for sure that’d be the ringer! Hmm...” he says, pretending to think, “is it... can grandpa have access to the secret door in order to give the captain of the fort some very important news?”
Ted waits patiently, and he waits until he hears some more sniffling and what he assumes is Teddy nodding his head before he slowly peels back the blankets, showing his grandson.
The young boy seems almost paralyzed with a pain that Ted wishes he could immediately take a way in an instant, and finds himself gathering his grandson in his arms. Teddy had had another growth spurt, but that didn’t stop him.
“The news, Captain Teddy, is that you are absolutely my number one favorite grandson. And I love you so much. All the way to the moon, and back again. Lots and lots.”

Five favorite HP characters? Five least favorite? Yur top five HP Otps, five HP notps, and five favorite HP brotps? And five unpopular opinions about the series? Have fun!
Things sounds fun! And hard :P
Favorite HP characters:
1. Sirius Black: I love this dude for many reasons. I think the major one is his love for Harry. He was just Harry’s godfather, knew him for a year, yet his sense of loyalty and responsibility (yes, he is capable of that) made him escape Azkaban for Harry’s safety. Sirius loved Harry with all his heart. I also love how wildly dysfunctional, or bitter, or angry he can be. He’s still a good person, who grew up and realized his mistakes, but he’s one of the most realistic characters. Plus, he’s fun too, and charismatic and compelling.
2. Remus Lupin: Remus is just a patient, kind, intelligent person that faces life’s challenges with grace and dignity. He’s forgiving and capable of smiling and being decent even in the darkest of times. The backslash from that is that he’s often too forgiving (for example, of Snape) and doesn’t stand up for himself. But his self-loathing make him relatable. He also walked away from Harry and his previous life (Sirius, for example) without once glancing back, apparently, which is perhaps his worst, and very human, flaw.
3. Nymphadora Tonks: this girl is my newest addition to my fictional girl squad. (Don’t ask me how that happened.) Tonks is bright, young, energetic, fun, badass. She’s Moody’s favorite and that guy doesn’t like people easily. She’s a young Auror and McGonagall said they hadn’t recruited a new Auror in years! Tonks’s favorite hair color is bubblegum pink! Who doesn’t love a girl who likes her hair pink? And who’s clumsy and adorably excited to be married and to have a baby? Tonks would’ve been a great wife and mother had she lived and her death is the worst one, because she was so young and had Teddy.
4. Dobby: he’s just the sweetest okay? He loves Harry, proves that elves can be independent and make their own choices even if limited by their magic. He was a hero who was kind to wizards and fellows elves. Ps: Have a Harry Christmas!
5. Harry Potter: he’s my fictional son. I love Harry so much. In terms of characters, I’d rate him higher than Dobby, except that Dobby never annoys me. Harry is brave, smart, loyal, strong, kind, witty, a tad angry and ruthless. I relate a lot to him sometimes, especially in the Order of the Phoenix. I can’t understand his blinding loyalty to Dumbledore (which can be said of all the characters), nor can I understand him in the Half-Blood Prince. And let’s not discuss how he named his children… Still, Harry’s a wonderful person, a great main character.
Least Favorite HP characters:
1. Albus Dumbledore: I know he’s not as evil or manipulative as people might think. And it’s easy to blame him for most things considering his many responsibilities in the wizarding world. Dumbledore often had the best intentions, was forgiving and compassionate, but it doesn’t mean he wasn’t a terrible headmaster who endangered his students, often for no good reason. He put his interest in defeating Voldemort (a worthy cause) above his duties as headmaster. He abused the power he had many times. He should’ve many a decision between dedicating his life to defeating Voldemort or to being a responsible headmaster. I find it hard to forgive people that fail children and teenagers like that. Also, the blind loyalty people bestowed him is perhaps the worst thing about HP to me.
2. Severus Snape: while his arc from late OotP to DH is compelling, his character is severely overrated. Snape is the classic children’s “villain” throughout most of the books. His attitude is tiring and monotonous. I fail to see the good writing of his character for the most part. We’re told over and over again, via Harry, that hating Snape is wrong, because he’s “good”. I find this immensely disturbing and upsetting. Harry should’ve been allowed to hate Snape, always. None of his sob story erases the fact that he was abusive to children and unfit to be in a position of power. I will never respect a person who hates and hurts children. Period.
3. Voldemort: I think he’s a boring and ineffective villain. Rowling’s strengths as a writer never rested on the bad guys. The writing for Voldemort was always weak, and the message “power is wrong” is unoriginal and overly simplistic. While some of this backstory may have been interesting (his family’s history was compelling), Voldemort’s evilness resides in him having never been loved, which is the story of every villain ever, and not something to base half a book on.
4. Bellatrix Lestrange: for someone who kills most of my favorite characters, she isn’t anything to write home about. Bellatrix isn’t a rich villain character and she is very hard to root for. She’s pure evil, unlike her sister Narcisa whose love for her son make her interesting and sympathetic. Bellatrix seems to care a bit about her sister, and Voldemort, but she kills two family members, and doesn’t seem to care at all about her husband. What are her motivations? How did she come to worship Voldemort? She’s also not the wittiest character.
5. Molly Weasley: could’ve chosen other characters, but Molly is an important one that I don’t love. She’s amazing in the beginning. Until book 4, she’s warm, loving and kind, particularly to her son’s best friend. However, it becomes clear with time that she favors some her children, like Percy or Ginny, over others, like Ron or the twins. She also sometimes cares more about Harry than her own family. She listens to Daily Prophet rubbish and snubs Hermione even if she knew (from a previous article about Arthur) how much Rita Skeeter lies. She didn’t even write to Harry at all, despite her apparent concern. This would’ve been fine (she’s only Ron’s mom after all) if she didn’t like to consider herself Harry’s mom (she even attacks Sirius over this). If she’s Harry’s “mom”, she isn’t a good one. She doesn’t treat him like her other children and she doesn’t ever talk to Harry and show that she’s there for him, emotionally. Feeding someone isn’t enough. Molly also yells all the time, and is very unsupportive and impatient with her less than “perfect” children. She shows them no respect too, like in the DH when she’s trying to keep the Trio from communicating…
OTPs:
1. Sirius/James: I’ve fallen in love with these two. I don’t necessarily ship them within the books, but Sirius and James were perfect together. They knew the other best and respected and loved each other until their very last breath. If Sirius was ever in love with anyone, it was obviously James.
2. Remus/Tonks: Tonks is fiery, young and more carefree. Remus is the opposite. They balance each other. And have a cute baby together…
3. Fleur/Bill: No one took Fleur seriously, but she loved Bill wholeheartedly. She tried to befriend his family, had the wedding in their house, and didn’t even think twice after Bill was mauled by Greyback.
4. James/Lily: Not an OTP but I’ve run out of HP OTPs. James adorably doodled Lily’s name in his exames, and was in love with her for a long time. They seemed to be the definition of domestic bliss, which is nice.
5. Arthur/Molly: their dynamic was unbalanced, but their love was genuine.
NOTPs:
1. Minor character/Adult character: Be it Sirius/Harry (gag) or Snape/Harry (gag) or any other pairing like that, I’m disgusted. I honestly don’t even care if it’s one of those time travel fics, whenever I see any HP student (in the 7 books) paired with an adult, I throw up a little.
2. Harry/Tom Riddle Jr: like, what??? I can’t even…
3. Draco/Hermione: honestly, what’s with the Draco obsession? He really isn’t that interesting. Draco and Hermione dislike each other, and that’s it.
4. Draco/Harry: I guess this pairing makes a tad more sense but I still don’t get it. Sometimes, I dislike you means just that.
5. Sirius/Remus: I’ve read a lot of fanfiction on them, but, in reality, they’re not that great. We’re talking about two characters that turned on each other, and barely seemed to reconnect post-Azkaban. It’s not like Remus was of any help to Sirius in OotP. His input was exclusively to tell Sirius to shut up or stay put. And who lets a loved one go to jail without a trial or some kind of confrontation?
BROTPs:
1. Sirius/James: duh. They had the best friendship. They finished each other’s sentences, pretty much, were best friends until they died, were almost always together, and trusted each other absolutely. Even if you combine Harry/Ron with Harry/Hermione’s friendships, James and Sirius were better friends.
2. The Weasley Twins: the strictly platonic version of James and Sirius. They had an amazing dynamic. Still makes me sad to think of George without Fred. People couldn’t even tell them apart!
3. Hermione/Harry/Ron: the trio was pretty flawless when it came to unconditional support and love.
4. Harry/Luna: there was something really sweet and reassuring about their friendship, especially after Sirius died.
5. Padfoot/Crookshanks: when you nearly burn yourself trying to get your face up close to someone’s face who is in a fireplace, that’s real love.
Unpopular Opinions:
1. Order of the Phoenix is the best HP book. It has great, realistic characterization, a great villain (Umbridge), badass activist organizations (Order and D.A), great new characters, suspense, action and drama.
2. Half-Blood Prince is very overrated. The whole book is mostly a set up for the next book, while ignoring the previous book and containing terrible teen romance.
3. Hermione’s a hypocrite. Frequently breaks the rules when it suits her (like when she unleashed a flock of birds on Ron), tries to force house-elves to be free, despite their loud objections, while claiming to respect them, etc.
4. Molly Weasley is not a great mother. As I said before, she plays favorites, overcoddles her children, neglects their emotional well-being, etc.
5. The books are often political and preachy and best be read by people who are capable of critical thinking (and often not children). I would personally not let my children read past the first 3 books. I find myself disagreeing with a lot of HP’s morality lessons and think children lack the ability to see J.K. Rowling’s flaws and the flaws in some of her characters, like Dumbledore or Snape who are romanticized in the end.
Thanks for the ask! This took a long time. If anyone has any followup questions, feel free to ask!

Arrow and Harry Potter
Arrow
my all-time ultimate fave character: Laurel Lance
a character I didn’t used to like but now do: I hated Quentin at first, and I lot of stuff he did/does I still don’t like but I’ve grown to appreciate his complexity and his dynamics with Laurel and Oliver. Of course now that Laurel’s dead he has like nothing to do so it’s just stupid.
a character I used to like but now don’t: Felicity was cute s1...she got on my nerves pretty quickly after that, though. I hate what Diggle has become. Like just look at him s1 compared to now and it’s just sad. I miss when Diggle was his own character.
a character I’m indifferent about: Can I just say any of the new recruits? Like, I just don’t care about any of them. At all. I didn’t start the show for them, I started for GA and BC, why is this so hard for the showrunners to grasp? I’m also pretty indifferent towards Sara, no lie. She’s just kind of there and then not and then there again. She drifts into the story and out and doesn’t really seem to have all that lasting of an impact. I mean she can literally be plucked from the timeline because she’s apparently of little enough importance history won’t miss her. And it totally undermined the whole “journey” aspect of characters when we met her and she was just insta-badass straight out of her new s2 packaging, now with 100% more blonde, some reshooting required. Maybe if they’d bothered to show her training--but that would have required them to actually show a wlw relationship and not just the angsty post-breakup stage so that wasn’t gonna happen. Like I don’t necessarily hate her but I don’t like her much either. She’s just kind of meh to me.
a character who deserved better: DINAH. LAUREL. LANCE.
a ship I’ve never been able to get into: O/F, Oliver/Sara, and lowkey Nyssa/Sara - Nyssa was always so much more invested than Sara from her first appearance to her last. Like you got her going on and on about her “beloved” and then Sara’s flirting it up and kissing people throughout time and space, the heck am I supposed to do with that? Also I haven’t liked Thea/Roy ever since Roy ditched her after sleeping together and left no forwarding address. Dick move, dude.
a ship I’ve never been able to get over: Lauriver, dear god, the beauty and the tragedy will haunt me forever
a cute, low-key ship: I liked Oliver and McKenna, I won’t lie. Moira and Walter were tragic but precious. Also if Tommy had lived I could’ve seen him and Helena having an interesting thing don’t judge me.
an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: Non-canon but I’m gonna go Lauryssa. Also Constantine/Oliver.
a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: O/F, when will these writers learn that ship destroyed both those characters
my favourite storyline/moment: I’m in that rare minority that loved s1 so much more than s2. S2′s where it started going wrong, the fridging women left and right, Slade’s shitty motivation for being bad--he’s a mercenary, for fuck’s sake, it does not need to be about a woman he loved and lost, it’s not complicated--retconning the flashbacks left and right, but s1 was so good. Also loved Laurel becoming BC though I never got why the writers needed to start her off at square one when they showed she could fight the previous two seasons.
a storyline that never should have been written: Basically the entire s4 plot. Magic and nukes are not GA’s thing. Also killing BC on a GA show is such bs. Real GA would have rather seen himself killed first.
my first thoughts on the show: Ok, this is interesting! The fight scenes are good, I want to see how these characters become more like their comic book counterparts.
my thoughts now: Well that sucked.
HP
my all-time ultimate fave character: Oh man, how can you do this to me? TOO MANY, OKAY? I HAVE TOO MANY.
a character I didn’t used to like but now do: Dudley is so much more interesting after book 7. I like the idea that he finally started to realize that his parents and their abuse towards Harry was shit. I know JKR decided to not give Dudley a magic child in the epilogue, but I wish she had. It would have been so nice to see Dudley break the cycle of abuse in the Dursley family once and for all by loving and supporting his kid no matter what.
a character I used to like but now don’t: I don’t know if I dislike him necessarily but I definitely don’t like him the way I used to as a kid - okay, yeah, it’s Dumbledore. I mean he is soooo complex, and that’s a good thing. But a lot of the stuff he did? Not cool.
a character I’m indifferent about: Basically a lot of the OCs that masquerade in fics as barely-mentioned students. It’s fine if you wanna use them, but it’s weird to me when people start purporting their characterizations of them as fact if that makes sense? To that end, I’m also mostly indifferent about all the next gen kids with the exception of Teddy (there’s just a lot there to his character that would be so interesting to unpack - why was Cursed Child not about Teddy Lupin with a better plot gdi).
a character who deserved better: So many characters tbh. Ginny Weasley deserved better from both JKR and all y’all. JKR promised an awesome moment having to do with her being the seventh child of a seventh child (Arthur) and then never delivered. Fandom is shitty to her because she gets in the way of their ships (like especially H/HR and H/D shippers seem to love to demonize a teenage girl in their fics, just saying) and because they seem to think Hermione is enough female rep which is such bs. Ron also deserves soooooo much better from fandom. So, so much better. Hagrid deserved to have one of Harry’s kids named after him. Sirius Black just deserved a better life. Snape deserved not to be abused as a child. Harry deserved like basically everything better. The Weasleys deserved not to be poor - do you see where I’m coming from here???
a ship I’ve never been able to get into: A lot of the non-canon ones (H/HR - she’s like a SISTER to him, he LITERALLY SAYS; H/D - It’s implied in that bathroom fight scene Draco was about to use the CRUCIATUS CURSE like WTF also he’s just kinda shitty to Harry and his friends almost the entire series just saying). Obviously if you wanna write AUs where things are completely different, that’s up to you, but they’re just not for me.
a ship I’ve never been able to get over: Jily, Hinny, Romione
a cute, low-key ship: Deanmus is the gay/bi rep we deserved, not unhealthy and possibly one-sided Dumbledore/Grindelwald. I feel like in book 5 at least Luna might’ve had a thing for Ron which is kind of adorable. Although I also like Ginny/Luna. Also I lowkey think Harry might’ve had a crush on both Cho and Cedric at the same time. Teenage years suck.
an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: I mean Romione seems to be unpopular with a lot of fandom but I love it so sucks to suck
a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: I’m pretty much ok on all the canon ships. I mean I wish JKR hadn’t tried to push this whole “Snape loved Lily” thing. More like “Snape was obsessed with Lily and never got over her”.
my favourite storyline/moment: ahhhhh I don’t know, maybe Ron coming back to save Harry and destroy the Horcrux.his insecurities? Such a great moment for his character, and his and Harry’s friendship. I also just love how Harry’s whole outlook on life completely brightened up in HBP during the time he was dating Ginny. It was so lovely to see him happy for once. And I love all of book three, it is my favorite. Also the Moody-is-really-Barty Jr. twist remains one of the greatest of All Time and the movies ruined it but I digress.
a storyline that never should have been written: Like I’m not saying it shouldn’t have been written, I just don’t like how Snape’s backstory has given rise to this idea that he did Nothing Wrong, Ever and it was Lily’s fault for ending the friendship that he turned to the Dark Side. Like fuck off, he was already there and it was not her job to be his “savior” when he sure as hell didn’t want saved. Also all the movies. Damn you, Kloves.
my first thoughts on the show books: This is such a great story and world! I love the characters and I can’t wait to see what happens next! (or something along those lines - I was young, okay?)
my thoughts now: While there’s certainly plenty of issues (lack of rep for many marginalized groups, for example) it still holds up as a really strong series. Must resist temptation to begin yet another reread.
