Every time you kiss his scars, he feels like he’s floating. He closes his eyes and leans into your lips, his hands around your waist. For a moment, just a moment, he lets his guard down to enjoy the light touches, to enjoy your love, to be lost in bliss. He really likes it when you kiss the one over his eye and the one on top of his shoulder.

When a victim got away and found you hidden in his little shack, they attack you and managed to break your arm/leg. Your blood curdling scream only made Johnny run faster and faster until he was in his house. His eyes turned dark when he saw you on the floor with the person on you. He saw red and didn’t care if you met The Bad Man. With that, he blacked out. When he comes back, he was breathing heavily with you in his arms, holding you tightly, as his arms and jeans were covered in the other’s blood.

After that, he didn’t leave your side or out of sight while your bone healed. Held carry your things to you or carry you himself. For a while, he couldn’t stand being near you or accept your touch. He failed you. He failed. How came you forgive him? How cand you still love him? Why do your kisses fell like silk? He’s so confused that he breaks down one night.

He’s not best with feelings or why his thoughts are constantly consumed with images of you. He kinda goes nuts. He only calmed down when you pulled into a tight hug and held him close.

When he comes back from a hunt, he washes up first and takes off his shirt before he embraces you. He doesn’t like it when you’re covered in blood. It doesn’t settle right in his stomach.

He hates it whenever you’re left alone. He hates that you talk to other men in town. He’s all you need. Why are you talking to others? Even if the server is a man he hates it! He’ll hold your hand or waist then kiss you nice and slow so the men know who you belong to.

He likes to be hands on like holding your hand or having you close, touching your thigh while at dinner, and coming behind you just to have you in his arms.

I really tried to project myself into the headspace I feel Connie has; we're kinda similar, imo, except I'd probably risk it for the biscuit. Maria Flores & Petals

this is everything that i picked up on/my thoughts on petals as well as some personal headcanons based on what was there

Maria is an explorer and is curious, to a fault.

She's very optimistic to the point where she comes off as a bit aloof. (Like when she hears Johnny's chuckling but doesn't think anything of it, doesn't even comment on it)

She always tries to see the silver lining/make the best of a bad situation. (EX: Instead of growing irritated or upset when her car breaks down, she takes the chance to explore and snap some photos.)

Her favorite season is spring because it's the most colorful, and thus the best to take photos in. Fall is her second favorite because it's very aesthetically pleasing.

While she's not athletic, she is able to scurry her way into tight places for the opportunity to explore/get a good photo. (Ex: crawling underneath a short fence to follow a rabbit.)

She is very creative and artistic, but she's not a great on-her-feet thinker. She isn't good at problem solving in tense situations because she's a very mellow person and likes to take life piece by piece.

She can get distracted very easily, but she usually finishes her tasks. It just takes her a while because, as mentioned, she's very creative and likes to enjoy things to the fullest. Wouldn't quite say she's ADHD tho.

Maria is very playful and likes to joke around & tease her friends. (We can see an example of this when she playfully tells the bunny "I'll get you, bunny!")

She's very much a romantic- not in the literal romantic sense, but she views the world through a romantic/artsy lens. It's why she's such a good photographer.

She loves taking pictures of nature above all else. But she also likes taking pictures of her friends when they hang out because she likes making moments last and revisiting memories when she looks through her scrapbook or her photo collection.

Despite being older than the rest of the friend group (she is 21 while the rest are 18-19) she is still very close with them and likes giving them tips on getting through college. While she isn't the person you would go to for things like advice when you're frustrated with something, or to vent, she IS the person you go to when you want to take your mind off things. She'll take you to a trail, show you a collection of new photos she took, or even just sit and chat about something to take your mind off what's bothering you.

She always has a vase of seasonal flowers in her dorm. She takes very very good care of them, and is absolutely a plant mom. And she takes pictures of her plants to mark their growth and study them! If she didn't become a photographer, she would've been a botanist. She has an eye for natural beauty and is amazing at capturing it whether through arrangements, design, or just photography!

She makes a little bit of money off of her photos, but she works part-time at a small gift shop making flower arrangements. That's where she gets her seasonal flowers; she takes home the extras!

Wildflowers are her favorite type of flower because she relates to them. Wildflowers have a tendency to grow in curious places and can bring beauty to an odd or otherwise unappealing scene. Ex: Growing in the cracks of sidewalks, etc.

Maria is very giggly, it just comes with being as playful as she is!

She also loves having tickle fights to cheer her friends up. She firmly believes that laughing and smiling can make you feel better, but it's hard to smile and laugh when you're down. But tickling fixes that!

She's smart in the way that she is good in class, and she's very book smart. But this poor girl has no common sense whatsoever. Her sister is the resilient and quick-witted one, Maria is just here for the ride. She doesn't put a lot of thought into things before doing them, she's just always going with the flow. (Ex: Entering a gated area that specifically says no trespassing. Like, girl, what??)

She takes things at face value. She isn't great at picking up on sarcasm, but she also doesn't take things personally. If something happens, then it happened, and she doesn't let things get to her. She may not think she's resilient, and maybe physically she isn't, but she's got thicker skin than she realizes. She's too optimistic to let things get under her skin, so she's good at letting things go and doesn't hold grudges. This also makes her a very forgiving person- sometimes too forgiving.

Maria does, however, have a very very low pain tolerance. She may not cry from and insult, but she will tear up at a papercut. And she gets a LOT of papercuts from developing photos.

She's also very clumsy. It's part of her aloof nature and comes with not having much common sense. Like, she's clumsy in the way that physically she is too careless with her movements and if she's talking to someone, or focusing on a photo, she has no spatial awareness whatsoever. (Ex: taking this picture when Johnny is LITERALLY in the frame in the sunflowers. and she has NO CLUE.)

He is the biggest goofball you'll meet if he doesn't want to kill you. He has a lot of bad puns and jokes.

Just for the heck of it, he says something so out there and watches his family argue/fight. He'll stay quite for a moment with a shit eating grin and leave the madness.

Banned from touching the radio.

Banned from Cook's kitchen.

Banned from Sissy's room (don't ask what happened).

VERY knowledgeable about flowers and butterflies. He has a lot of books over butterflies.

Johnny does like to go to a certain house in town to visit an old woman that reminds him of his grandmother when she was alive. He'll sit with her on the front porch in the summers and listen to her stories even if she already told it. She lives by herself and her family doesn't visit her often, which makes both her and Johnny a bit sad.

I have an hc of him having a long scar on his back that stretches from his upper back and curves to the left side of his bode like a 'J'. He got it when he fell out of a tree.

This man knows how to play the fiddle.

I think he is a bit overprotective of Bubba. If a victim is making fun of him or taunting him, Johnny would not show mercy as they kill them.

HATES milk. He will never drink it.

He enjoys reading (tell no one).

Can't cook, but knows how to bake! Loves making muffins and cookies!

Johnny has a soft spot for dogs and cats. There's an orange cat that lives in the barn named Froggie; she's Johnny's cat.

He has another cat named Lucky; she's a turtle cat.

Johnny has a dog, too. A German Shepard named Cain.

I actually think he was once in love, but not with the girl he kidnapped (can't remember her name for the life of me). She and Johnny used to play by the watering hole before it dried out. When she got older, she had to move away. Before she did, she kissed Johnny goodbye, giving him his first kiss. He thinks about her from time to time, but shakes it away. If she really loved him, she would've came back and visited, but she hasn't.

Has kissed a guy before when he was drunk. May or may not had a make-out session behind the bar. (He enjoyed it?)

When he's not killing, he's working part time at the town's car shop. He's really good at it, too!

He actually loves kids and wants kids of his own one day, but he won't be able to stay around because of his way of life.

There's a family photo folded in his back pocket he keeps.

Whenever he as a dumb idea, he says it out loud, gets a look from Sissy and Nubbins, and they do it. All three of them share 1 brain cell when it comes to doing something dumb together.

He knows he's adopted, but he's okay with it... sometimes. He does think about what could've been from time to time, but he shakes it off. Nothing tastes sweeter than blood on his lips and Nancy's apple pie.

Johnny is touch starved.

There was this one kill that he remembers and thinks about a lot. It was with a girl about his age. Instead of running with her friends, she went to Johnny. He knew it was an easy kill, but he didn't expect that her last moments was giving him a hug and promising that everything will be okay. He didn't know why he held her close for a while and stayed with her until her last breath. His family ended up having her for dinner, but Johnny made sure he took her bones and charm necklace. He put her bones in a shoe box and buried her in the family grave. Sometimes, he wears the charm necklace and thinks of her, remembering her promise that everything was going to be okay.

I sure can anon :^) I just wrote these as little headcanons for each of the family members. I wrote it more as the families first impressions of a captured reader, but if you want more in-depth dynamics let me know!

We can say for certain he would be very protective. Especially if he has kept you captive. the slaughters would be itching to get a glance at you. What makes you so special? Why are you not on a meat hook like the rest of them?

Sissy would be the most up-front about it. She was digging at Johnny for answers. “Come on, Johnny, let me just talk to them. I promise I won’t do anything,” she would plead repeatedly. She would bring you up constantly at the dinner table, starting family votes but immediately getting turned down by johnny’s aggression. She would tease Johnny, noticing right away that the only reason he has not kept you is because he has caught feelings. “They’re mighty fine. I can see why you don’t wanna kill ‘em.”

Drayton is suspicious, if not concerned. “Why you got them locked up down there for? Why don’t you just put them out of their misery, huh?” Drayton did not even want to think about what Johnny had in mind with you. he would remind him that if he likes you, then the family will accept you also, that you could be part of the family. But he knows it’s not as easy as that, and you’re probably scared to death. So, he has no choice but to look the other way.

Nubbins keeps quiet about you, but curiosity kills the cat. he thinks that if he doesn’t mention you but sneaks down to see you, he will never get caught. But one day, when he goes down the basement to see you, Johnny is ten steps ahead. And then - well - he beats him up right in front of you. You beg Johnny to stop, but he keeps throwing punches until Nubbins lies on the floor sobbing. “I wasn’t gonna do nuthin. I swear!” nubbins shakes and spits out the blood from his mouth. “bullshit, you fuckin’ rat. You stay away from them, ye hear!”

Bubba is the quietest and catches on early that you are off-limits. But Johnny found him the most easy to convince you’re not meat, so he trusts him around you. So much so it was Bubba’s job to bring you food, but you had no motive to eat (especially if it had meat). Bubba would panic if you didn’t finish your food. “Does your family get mad if you don’t eat?” you ask, getting a panicked nod from him; making you realise he knows from experience. He is the most damaged of the family, and you begin to feel sorry for him.

And Nancy, she has no liking to you whatsoever. She feels that you are distracting her boy from his main motive - to hunt and kill. She cannot kill you. It would only anger Johnny even more. So, slowly, she tries to convince Johnny to get rid of you. “You’ve just not been the same since that darn brat came along,” she spits, “It would be better for all of us if they were gone.” Keeping you captive is the first time Johnny defied his mother, and it riddles him with guilt, but it’s still not enough to kill you. And because of that, Nancy wants her hands wrapped around your throat and wants to see the life leave your eyes. How dare you be a bad influence on her poor, sweet boy? “they’re nothing but a slut, you hear?” she would say, trying to guilt-trip Johnny.

I hate the whole "Maria is alive cause of Virginia's description" debate right now...so let me throw out my wild take on how she isn't alive, →in the game's current time← cause I want to poke the fire and see how it goes :D

CW below cut for implications of Johnny committing immoral acts - I know that's a line drawn/debate in itself but idc

Also look at this man, he's done the worst shit imaginable but I still love his stupid ass♡

So... firstly...many are clinging to the line in Virginia's description that reads "But instead of finding Jesse, what she discovered was Maria, beaten and tortured, barely clinging to life." Now that's all solid and concrete, until you listen again to voice lines we have in the game already. This line in her description is adding ontop of the existing lore (in my opinion)

Starting the dot to dot puzzle back at Nancy; Nancy's line "Johnny really liked that girl-". Others online are saying 'Johnny is keeping her around the house somewhere' or 'Johnny actually liked Maria'. I agree with the first idea, to a point. For me, I've loved seeing Johnny's cold room, the items in his shack, how he's described by the family, ect. Starting at the women's clothing on his shelves, the magically clean fabric on his counter too many fridges and freezers and his own line "you're going to look real nice, next to that friend of yours" and everyone's favourite, "you ain't getting away, I'm keepin' you!" , very much implying he keeps victims of his fancy/liking in said cold storage units. Maybe Johnny thought Maria was a pretty girl, pretty enough to add to his collection of stolen victims, however-

Moving on to the Cook's line "We couldn't have Johnny springing no love child round here-" and Nancy's "I'd stay out of my secret room if I was you" to me, implies Johnny wanted her 'beaten, tortured and barely clinging to life' body for certain immoral purposes. I could even say it suggests he knew she was alive at some point into hiding her away, but her being in such a state-not enough to fight him, she's on borrowed time anyways. Cook, with the "We-" in the line above, implies more of the family (maybe Hitch or Leatherface to finish what he started in Petals) to kill her and have her now confirmed dead body hidden away from Johnny in Nancy's 'secret' room.

(Adding a sprinkle extra and suggest Johnny's line "I didn't really want to hurt her-" being a lie, however "-but...as they say...family first ya know" I feel is partly true. I feel it adds to the above that maybe he saw them kill Maria when she was found out trying to escape with Virginia. I'm not saying he's remorseful of her death or 'he misses her', I feel he's disappointed in himself, blaming himself that he's been caught; yet another mistake/misfortune he has to live with; also more ammunition for the family to throw at him.)

Virginia may have found Maria alive before she herself was captured, but- just a small but, they were said to have both been re-captured and by that point, wherever Johnny was hiding her before Virginia found her, was out of the bag and known about by the family; no longer his little secret.

I could just be hollering nonsense or overthinking these lines more than I should be, but I love the lore for this game and this is the story I'm reconnecting together with the new info; also with this debate being the only thing I see in the TCM fandom right now, it's hard not to think about and have your own opinions on, thanks for reading my word vomit
