he finds your hobby really interesting and adorable, you have a lot of talent and itʼs good that you practice everyday.

sometimes, when you have nothing to do, he invites you to the students council room and makes you sit beside him, he likes the silence thereʼs in the room while you draw whatever is on your mind while he finishes his work.

his grades are excellent so of course he shines in art class, he gives really good advices on how you can get better with your art, drawing / painting with him is really fun and relaxing.

if you gift him a drawing of him or you two together heʼll make sure to put it in a frame, beside the pictures with his siblings so he can see it everyday; heʼll praise you a lot and maybe gift you a drawing as well, as a thank you.

akane aoi

heʼs literally your number one supporter, always been since the start, he definitely takes pictures to every single drawing u make, even if itʼs just one doodle on the end of your note book or on your arm.

talking about doodling on someoneʼs skin, he will scream like a fan girl if you ask to draw on his arm, it could be anything really: smiling faces, lil shining stars, flowers.. he will cherish them till they completely faid away when heʼs washing himself up he will be sad about it too.

i wouldnʼt try to ask him for suggestions on how to make your art better though, he will always compliment whatever you draw, even if itʼs just a literal stick men, he cannot manage to criticize you and your art.

believe me when i say he will go feral if you draw him or both of you together. Imagine handing him a small drawing of you two holding hands w little hearts as decorations, and each second his face gets more and more red.. heʼll probably stick it to his ceiling, right in front of his bed so that it will be the first thing he sees in the morning and last thing he sees before closing his eyes to sleep.

mei shijima

i think she'd be really amused about the fact that you both like art and spend most of your days drawing, you both support and help eachother when the other needs help or suggestions.

since you two share the same passion, expect to do some works together with shijima, maybe like you both seat in front of eachother and draw the other or draw shared parts of a singular painting, you know things like that if you understood.. where you both have fun.

more than one time, she definitely chose you as her subject for various drawings / paintings for her school's art competitions, and every time she would win, sheʼd give you her art piece for you to keep it.

if you ask her for suggestions on how to get better at drawing, you better be ready cause she will say everything that is on her mind, she doesnʼt say it in a mean way of course but you asked her for art criticism and thatʼs exactly what sheʼll give you

Hanako VS The World

Nuance and critical thinking are two things that are very important when it comes to analyzing a character, especially when they’re written to be and portrayed as morally ambiguous. Along with that, main relationships aren’t always good or healthy. Bias is always taken towards a main character or fan-favorite, and that can lead to a very big lack of the aforementioned nuance and critical thinking. What does that matter? Well I’ll tell you what!

When it comes to fan bias no other character gets mischaracterized, excused, or completely misunderstood more than Hanako when it comes to the Tbhk fandom as a whole. And I think that it’s important to -I don’t know- understand the title character of the manga at least a little, because understanding him can really help with understanding everything else. So here’s that.

Selfishness

To start off, Hanako is very similar to the rest of the cast, in the sense that he is extremely selfish. Selfishness as a whole isn’t always malicious, in the cases of Kou and Yashiro that should be pretty obvious. With Aoi & Akane their selfishness manifests into parasitic and mutually destructive behaviors. And someone like Teru it’s selfishness caused by forced maturity and obligation, causing him to isolate and only trust himself and his ideals. Hanako comparatively is selfish for unidentified reasons, but it’s to be assumed it stems from Amane. Amane being depicted as lonely, self-interested, and generally antisocial, but all of this behavior isn’t dangerous is it? In the hands of someone like Amane, who is just a child, he can’t do anything outrageous (other than murder). Hanako on the other hand is capable of a lot, and with such capabilities, he does almost everything in his own self-interest and to the detriment of those around him.

Severance

Back to comparing characters, the fact that Teru and Akane’s interaction is shown right next to Nene and Hanako’s I think is a good point for comparing self interest. Teru throughout the boundary doesn’t tell Akane that Aoi isn’t returning, Aoi knows this (assumedly), Akane doesn’t, and Teru doesn’t tell him until they go past the point of no return. This isn’t entirely a selfish act on Teru’s part, Akane most likely would’ve died had he been told and stayed back, and Aoi didn’t say anything either. But it is still that, selfish. But see Hanako’s side in the same chapter, he doesn’t tell Nene anything either, he specifically doesn’t assure her that he isn’t disappearing permanently, he instead intentionally misleads her into thinking the opposite. And it’s not the first time he’s done something like this before either.

Everything for you for me

In the Picture Perfect arc, he forces Nene into a fake reality (along with Kou but he’s not important right now) and tries to make her stay. He pretends to not know what’s happening, and only breaks once he knows the illusion is fully broken, and then he just kidnaps her. If this really were an act of love or respect for Nene, He wouldn’t have been so forceful, he does everything in his power to make sure she doesn’t leave. And when he’s finally convinced, he switches to a different idea. When Nene said she wanted to live forever, Hanako instead of realizing Nene didn’t want unwanted help, he then went on to sacrifice her best friend so she could live. As he says himself, he values Nene over Aoi, which -and I can’t believe people think it is- is the most non romantic and messed up thing he could’ve done. He wants what he wants for Nene, not what she wants for herself, and that should show people that he does most everything in his own self interest.

Now, is he doing it maliciously or is he just doing what he thinks is best. Both, but that’s not exactly an excuse. He refuses to change, doing the same thing over and over again, always taking his beliefs seriously and disregarding what anyone else has to say because he thinks he knows best.

Ending notes

This isn’t to say Hanako is a bad character, he’s incredibly well written and it does take a little stepping back to first realize his actions are flawed. But taking that step is incredibly important when it comes to understanding Tbhk as a whole. Every character is flawed, every character does good and bad things, and understanding and not justifying the bad just because you like them is baseline for liking a character completely. Tbhk is also a comedy! And I actually do enjoy a good chunk of Hanako outside the drama, he is the title character, so you kindof have to find some part of him to like so you don’t drop it completely. And just remember I’m not a genius and this all just me saying whatever shit I think, I’m not a foolproof source of toilet knowledge, I’m just a guy who reads sometimes.

Question for you, as I've been reading some of your tbhk analysis posts, notably about teru's treatment of akane and your prediction for akane dying soon! Since teru seems to want to acknowledge the human side of akane, how do you think he'd handle something happening to akane, such as him losing supernatural powers/being weakened, or maybe the opposite in losing his humanity and becoming a supernatural fully instead? Do you think the newest chapter may even imply teru having something to do with such a thing happening to akane or being witness to it?

I think Teru would handle Akane being weakened poorly at the start cause he treats Akane as if he is indestructible: No matter how beaten up Akane is, Teru never hesitates to use him as a stress relief, he is his first target whenever he wants to hit something

He understands Akane is seriously injured here, but he will still attack Akane if he feels like it. Regardless if he did it because he was frustrated by his failure of being too late to save them both, and took his frustrations out on Akane, or because he was jealous his (ambiguous af) crush kissed someone else, Teru still shows no hesitation to beat up the stabbed guy that is only alive because he isn't in a human body.

He did it again when they left the boundary and reached the near shore, where people can die.

He obviously doesn’t want to kill Akane, but it is still a wild choice to kick his ass to show he is in critical condition, is as if Teru believes “if I punch him he’ll be in pain” not “if I punch him I’ll cause damage.” despite the confidence Teru has in his own strength.

I can’t be sure what is going on in his head, but I am inclined to say he understands Akane's strange half supernatural powers and how much resistance it gives him compared to a normal human, which makes me think of two things that might happen if Akane gets weaker or lose his powers completely: Either Teru will know the exact limitations of Akane weakened state, or he’ll miscalculate, and end up doing something that Akane would usually be able to brush off, but will genuinely injury or even make him black out: Which would be one hell of a wake-up call.

Teru would lose his biggest stress relief and have to adapt to that.

Fortunately, I don’t think their banter and overall dynamic would be affected, since Akane would not change his no nonsense approach with Teru just cause he got weaker. They seem far more relaxed near each other now too, and we don't see Akane being tied up after the severance. But if Teru still bullies him off the pages, I can see Teru tripping him and doing the 'lighter' bullying, but still being more stressed in the long run since he needs to hold back (please find a better way to relieve stress teru I beg of you).

That being said... Teru’s trust in his power and his willingness to involve Akane in supernatural situations might lower, or even disappear, without his clock keeper powers.

He might get more protective too, since Akane knows about supernaturals, so he lost what Teru considers a normal human’s best defense against them.

And whenever he feels like Akane is in danger he jumps into protection mode quickly.

If Akane gets so weak he ceases to even see supernaturals (which considering Aoi’s case I find it unlikely) then I can see a disconnect happening. It will be felt far more by Teru than Akane since Akane ignores the supernatural world as much as possible, while that’s Teru’s whole life. Still, outside Teru feeling a disconnect at times, I still can’t see it drastically changing things, cause they could work together and talk normally when Akane used his enchanted glasses, their talk mostly about Teru’s siblings and Aoi, and they may have gotten closer because of the severance, but they can absolutely bond with nonsupernatural affairs too.

If the contrary happens and Akane dies, becoming a full supernatural, I answered how I personally feel like Teru (+others) might react: Here.

As for the later chapter, it feels like that was a set up for Teru to have a relevant role in this arc, but we don’t have nearly enough information to know which. It could be related to Akane, or foreshadow him meeting the broadcasting club, who knows? The only thing it says for sure is that Teru knows others are interested in Akane, or more specifically, in the clock keepers power.

Which is something he knew for a while already.

A lot of people must be interested in the clock keeper’s powers for him to know the culprit has a tsueshiro, and not immediately assume Hanako is the one behind it.

#I don't know if I would call his death a prediction cause akane may have TONS of death flags and people chanting for his demise in my notes #but this boy is a roach and he refuses to die. Gyaru S/O is constantly made fun of

× Gyaru is a japanese fashion style, it a little complicated to explain so i recomend to search about it

I have to admit that i have mixed feelings for the gyaru fashion style, there are some outfit that i think are reaaaaally cool but there are others that i find weird, haha but anyways, this was quite interesting to write! hope you like it!

Tsukasa Yugi

Tsukasa can be quite violent but that doesn't mean that he doesn't love you, because when he does fall in love he is really serious about that love and has no problem with expressing how much he loves you with everything he has and with whoever is in front of him (as if it wasn't obvious with how clingy he is)

Tsukasa tends to do as he please and what he wants so he doesn't really has filters when speaking, he will tell you from the start that he find your fashion style weird, but he mean it in the best way posible, no matter how much he insist on saying that is weird he also find it fascinating and pretty funny!

Tsukasa is quite mesmerized by your style and with each day that pass it just become part of his day greeting you at the first hour of the day (or when you came to school depending on that if you are human or supernatural) and taking a moment to apreciate your outfit, always giving you a compliments along with a big hug (most of the time he repeat the same compliment but his big wide smile shows that he is being sincere)

He totally loves your style, he find it quite funny and actually love playing with it a lot, is not rare for you to have him clinging onto you while playing with your clothes and accesories (with time he just learn to don't be too harsh or even try to steal it so you don't have to be without your precious clothes or accesories)

In all honestly, Tsukasa just loves you so much that he loves talking about you with Sakura and shows you off at every chance he has, and your beautiful fashion style only gives him more reasons to show you off, insisting that you have to show your amazing outfit to everyone in the broadcasting club whenever you are wearing something that he finds specially cute or mesmerizing

Tsukasa is so in love and even proud of you and your relationship that it will be a surprise when he find out that there are some people that tend to make fun of you because of your fashion style, and this isn't a pleasant surprise, he is mad at whoever dares to say something bad about his precious partner and he will make sure they don't say something like that about you ever again (there is no way he will let them go away with making fun of you and the more hurt you are the more harsh he will be with them)

Yako

Once Yako falls in love she does it really hard, it take her a while but once you get right to her heart it is going to be quite obvious how much she cares for you and likes you (mainly for the obvious soft spot she has for you)

Yako can be a little blinded by her love for you, finding all about you quite interesting and mesmerizing (specially if you are a human), so you having a gyaru fashion style is something that she will love and hate

It makes you happy and she feels intriged by it, by how much accesories and colors you use, she will give some criticism coment about your fashion style, mainly in hopes to help you improve it and make you look even more beautiful (mainly when she thinks is too much or that it doesn't suit), but also you can heard quite a lot of compliments about your style

Yako won't really be too willing to try an outfit with your style because she has her own style, however it isn't imposible and she would be willing to try a not too exaggerated or extravagant outfit (just let her make it), still she is more than willing to use a single garment or accesory if you ask her, something that matched her own outfit (although, if you gift her an accesory is more probably that she doesn't use it often because she prefer to keep it somewhere safe as her little treasure, but don't point it out or she will get defensive over the fact)

Over all, Yako likes quite a lot your style and is really supportive over it, besides, if it makes you happy then she doesn't see why not just be yourself, thats why she doesn't tolerate other people talking bad about you or your style, most of the time she doesn't do more than scolding (more like insulting) whoever had say something bad about you and tell you to don't listen those idiots

But getting to know that you are being made fun of because of your style make her furious, no one should made fun of you just because you are just being you, she is going to be back and forth from angrily rant about how mad she is with those idiots and trying to comfort you, she is quite protective over you but reminds as calm as she can because she doesn't want to cause problems, however if the bullies came to physicaly atack you or say something that really have hurt you then she will take the matter into her hands, it doesn't matter if is a supernatural or a human she will teach them a lesson (even if she have lose part of her power already that doesn't mean she isn't still powerful, and she will make those idiots regret even just thinking bad about you)

Hananene Anaylsis: A Fatal Love Pt.2

pt.1 <--

WARNING; I'm open to all criticisms as long as they are peaceful and passive. I am not anti-hananene and any and all people aggressive comments/replies would be blocked.

Together:

In the past, it was very simple, as was the plot of TBHK at the time. It was just a girl helping out a ghost, but slowly yet surely wanting to learn more about him. Yashiro and Hanako had a sweet love to them. Yashiro pushed to learn more about Hanako, to push past his mysterious past and trust issues to learn more about him. For the first time in decades, Hanako felt genuine affection and care. As the manga goes on, so does their affection for each other grow. Yashiro proves to really care for him, and Hanako does as well. Willing to jump into danger for her and protect her from harm.

Why Hanako fell for her is self-explanatory. Yashiro was one of the first people to reach out to him. To want to get to know him, all he likes and dislikes, as well as negatives and positives traits. And after everything he has done, she still pursues him. She’s kind, headstrong, and always willing to help her loved ones. It’s hard NOT to fall for somebody like that. For Yashiro, it’s a bit blurred. She doesn’t have a clear reason to like Hanako, but I believe it’s because he genuinely cares and loves her. He makes her feel warm and safe, he’s nice to her and that’s enough to make a normal teenage girl's heart flutter.

And their love proves to be healthy in the Picture Perfect World Arc. In the arc, everything’s “perfect” and they get to hang out and have fun like regular teenagers. They go cleaning the pool, stargazing, biking, and just being alive. The arc proves that in a better world, they would have worked 100%. They have a bunch of cute and happy moments together and there isn't anything unhealthy. But. This is all fake. None of this would happen ever. The arc is a reminder to the characters and the audience that even if you escape to fantasy, reality would still be there.

They have gone through so much. More importantly, Yashiro. She is new to all of this. Hanako doesn’t exactly seem fazed by a lot of this. Infact, a lot of the events happened because of him. Aoi had to die because of him, Yashiro and Kou went through the picture perfect world because of him, Yashiro and her gang had to venture to the Red House and the far shore and get severely hurt because of him. You may say he didn’t directly cause it, but because of his recklessness he influenced all of it.

This is a big part of the relationship. Hanako’s impulsiveness and recklessness. He acts without any regard for anybody's word because it’s hard not to when they are all.. alive. Hanako is dead. He’s a supernatural. In the manga, the understanding between the supernatural and living is so minimal overall, and for Hanako it must be terribly so accounting for his backstory. But either way, Yashiro is deeply affected by this trait of his. And especially shows in chapter 91, where she wishes to die when just an arc ago she wished to live her life. It doesn’t help that, she’s so willing to die to be with him.

Him being dead and Yashiro alive is not something that isn’t covered a lot. Even if things were to work out, they could never be together and they slowly would have to drift apart. Unless, Yashiro also dies. Yashiro hints at this way before chapter 91. But, Hanako doesn't like this idea at all. To die for a lover, to give up everything just to be with them. Because despite everything, Hanako just wants her to live. He doesn't want her to spend eternity with regrets like him. This is a huge thing as well. Yashiro shouldn’t die for him and clearly Hanako doesn’t want her to.

Their roles forbid them to have a good relationship. He is a powerful supernatural tied with immense regret, leader of the other 6 school mysterys, whilst Yashiro is just a teenage girl. Hanako and Yashiro now both have immense trauma and with Yashiro literally being s/idic/l now, they aren’t good together. What they need is a stepback from each other to reevaluate what they are doing. One of the only ways they can truly make it as a couple is if they work on eachother first, because they aren’t ready for a relationship. A relationship, and a healthy one at that, needs a lot of things. Respect, balance, honesty, trust, open communication, and compromise, all the things I already referenced in the intro. They also take time and effort, and to have a healthy mindset first.

They could work as a healthy couple because I do believe they do genuinely love each other. But like I said they are ghost and human. If things do work out somehow, it wouldn’t last long. From the very beginning they were doomed to end. It’s horrifically tragic, but so is the world of Toilet Bound Hanako-Kun.

Audience perspective:

If you ask a fan of TBHK about hananene, they might say how much they love it, or how iffy they are about it now. So, I have decided to do a little fun gform to see what people (from my social media and discord servers) think overall of the ship! Thank you to everyone who participated! Here’s the results:

This really did surprise me, because I didn’t expect so many people to be mixed on whether it’ll be unhealthy or unhealthy, but because of the recent chapters it really did have an effect on the questioning. A lot of people restated what I already explained, but some key things I’d like to bring to light.

For the people who did vote that it was healthy, their reasoning was because all around they make eachother happy and love each other, and that’s what relationships are all about, right? And they were proven to be happy in the Picture Perfect Arc.

Now this, I expected. You see, a lot of people, and I mean a lot, were fooled by Aidairo, thinking TBHK was fun and lighthearted, collecting an audience that are very into just fun romcoms. The problem with that audience is that they are used to stories and shows, in which the main couple, even if they are doing something pretty unhealthy, is seen as good. Unhealthy tropes are so common and used that a lot of people would turn a blind eye to actual problems and flaws. And, an excuse for it is that they love each other.

Now, there is no denying that Yashiro and Hanako are exactly the healthiest bunch, but they do love each other. But that is no excuse. Loving each other is not an action, but a feeling. Feelings may dictate actions, but it doesn’t mean those actions will be good. For example, you may love somebody, but forcing them to do as you say makes you toxic and the person has every right to leave you. Loving somebody isn’t enough, you're going to have to love them right. And I think that's one of the main problems.

(No hate to the anons who submitted the answers though! I understand where you’re coming from, but I feel as though the ideology is just very iffy and it wouldn’t exactly be appropriate of me to NOT point it out.)

The audience is so used to this type of behavior that a lot of people fail to see the very fatal flaws that they have. They can be healthy, but as of right now.. they really aren’t exactly good together.

Which is perfectly okay. Like I already said, it is fine for them to grow and to be truly happy with one another!

Personal Thoughts:

I found out about TBHK on a manga website way back in 2017. And I loved the manga. The beautiful art style, the characters, etc. But alas, it didn’t last very long because it didn’t really have a fanbase and I couldn’t find the rest of the chapters.

It was until 2020 that I really started to enjoy it because of the anime release and people started to post the chapters! And I was a, hardcore hananene fan. I loved it, and I wanted to see it grow. I wanted to see more of these two figure out their problems together and be happy. So you can imagine the amount of heartbreak these coming chapters after the anime, and I slowly, yet painfully, lost interest in the ship.

I moved on to other things in the animanga of course, but hananene still plagues my mind. Hananene is very interesting, because it attracted an audience that is so used to the main couple always being portrayed as being healthy all the time, when really it wasn’t the case. Aidairo calls out that trope, and makes the audience come face to face with their ideas of romance and twist it over their heads.

This post, originally, was to help out call this stuff out. But as I got more and more into it, I started to realize how much of a brilliant duo these two are. Not just in a narrative sense, but from a storytelling standpoint. In the romantic genre, we hardly ever get such a pairing that is so interesting. That has been done like this before. So I wanted to take the proper time to actually take a look into these two, especially since one of them, Yashiro, has never really gotten her own analysis before on her character or on her standpoint in the relationship (in which, this is not enough for me, I will be writing a Yashiro analysis, nobody can stop me.). I want to tell you my own thoughts and examinations of these two.

Conclusion:

All in all, Hanako and Yashiro have issues. Lots of issues. With Hanako being impulsive and Yashiro being so willing to die for him it’s hard to imagine them being exactly healthy. But, I do believe they could work if they truly work on each other on their own and to learn how to be better. They genuinely love each other, but with the rate things are going, it’s going south.

Tbhk x child oc

The beginning of a fic book I wrote but never posted

Just a test (feedback appreciated, I take well to some criticism too)

"Hey did you know? This school has seven mysteries.

They say that if you find the true story behind each of them... Something will happen."

--------------

"You don't know any of them?" Said a girl to which her friend shook her head. "Okay, I'll tell you just one, the most famous story... Hanako of the toilet."

In the third stall from the end of the girls' bathroom on the third floor of the old building ...You'll find Hanako-san. She'll grant one wish to anyone who summons her spirit... But in exchange, that person will have to give up something precious.

To summon the ghost, knock three times...

A girl followed the rumor, knocked on the bathroom stall 3 times, and muttered 'her' name.

"Hanako-san, Hanako-san. Are you there." She said nervously. The stall door was grabbed by a hand and slowly creaked open.

"Yessssss I'm heeeeere." A voice said opening the door all the way showing that it is empty. The girl continued to stare at the door as if something or someone was going to appear.

After a few moments of waiting she relaxed a bit. "Oh good, I just imagined it." She said to herself.

A hand lightly grabbed her shoulder.

"Over here." It said making the girl jump and turn around in an attempt to protect herself swinging her arms to it the thing.

"NOO!" She screamed as she turned ready to hit the creeper. Only for her hands to phase through the 'person'.

She turned away from it and ducked while the person laughed at her.

'That's a boy's voice?' She thought to herself.

"Are you okay?" a different voice said.

'Now it sounds like a girl...kinda.' She thought looking to her side to see a little boy, but not in a school uniform like the rumor said. The girl retreated to the other side of the room.

"A see-through body. Ghostly orbs. And a really old uniform... Y-you're..." She said shakily.

"We're supernaturals." The ghosts said in unison. "No. 7 of the school's seven mysteries. Hanako-san of the toilet." Hanako said sitting on the top of the toilet while the little girl hid behind his leg while hugging it.

"I'm Mamoru," The ghost child said curiously. "Nice to meet you." they both said.

"You're Hanako-san..? N-No way! Where's your bob cut and your red skirt? You're a boy, and also why is there a kid." She stuttered out looking between the two before her.

"That stuff's not in style anymore. You can call me Hanako-kun if you want."

"SUPERNATURAL PHANOMENONA FOLLOW TRENDS?!" the girl shouted causing the little ghost to cower behind Hanako-kun.

"Yes, I am a boy. But other than my gender, all the rumors you heard were true." Hanako-kun stated with open arms as 2 ghostly orbs were above each hand.

"THAT STILL DOESN'T EXPLAIN THE CHILD." She yelled pointing to the child hugging the Hanako's leg. Hanako looked down with a smile on his face as the boy hugged tighter.

"he's a different rumor that's not very popular." He said patting the boy's head. "Anyway, for the right price, I will grant the wish of whoever summons me. You have a wish don't you let's hear it." The girl looked deep in thought at what the boy said. That looked turned into a horrified face as she said.

"And you're sure... You're not just some pervy creeper ghost?" Hanako was hurt by this and grabbed the little boy's hand.

"forget it, goodbye." Hanako's voice was weary as he slowly floated back to where he came from while picking up the kid who only looked back at the girl.

"I WAS KIDDING! I THINK A BOY HANAKO-SAN IS TOTALLY AWESOME." The girl yelled out desperately beaconing him to come back. The little boy giggled and wiggled in Hanako's grip to be put down. Once he was down he began hovering around the two still giggling.

"Awesome... Okay tell me your name and wish." Hanako said, with a pen and paper smiling happily.

'he's surprisingly shallow.' she thought. 'and the kid is... being a kid guess.'

"yes sir! Nene Yashiro, from class 1-A of the high school division! I want my crush to fall in love with me immediately~." she said fantasizing about all the scenarios in her head coming true.

the little boy looked up back in forth between the two teens not understanding what was going on.

"Yashiro... got it. And your wish is romantic fulfillment, And the other party's name?" Hanako said writing down everything Yashiro said.

"Minamoto-senpai. He's a second-year! He's handsome, smart, and nice to everyone. He's just amazing. He's the prince of the whole school!" She said dreamily rambling about her crush.

'a crush?' the little boy thought, he couldn't completely understand the concept of liking someone but he was willing to learn.

"I see..." Yashiro was showed a picture of the alleged prince of the school to the two apparitions. "Got it. I'll grant your wish." Han

"So how do you grant wishes, Hanako-san? Do you have special magical items or something?" Yashiro said like a child who saw their favorite toy.

"I sure do. I have something incredible."Hanako said to which Yashiro replied with the word incredible.

"Here."Hanako reached into his pocket pulling out a torn and worn-out book. 'Methods of love, hundreds of strategies~ This is love' it read. Yashiro took the book

Yashiro deadpanned looking at Hanako, upset that what she envisioned was not reality.

"Now, Now. I think you already know this... But when you seek help from a supernatural being like me, you have to pay a suitable price. If you want powers beyond human understanding, the price is going to be that much greater. So we use this which is much safer." Hanako took the book back from Yashiro and gave it to the little boy, who gladly took it and started to try and read it.

"But... What if I want those powers anyway?" Yashiro looked worried

"Well, then... I don't have any items sorry." Hanako said with a finger on each cheek cutely.

"WHATTTTT!?" Yashiro 'Is this really going to work?'

so update on how tbhk chapter 94 affects my theory!

Ok so before I get into theory talk I wanted to quickly touch on the first half of the chapter, which was definitely really fucked up, but expected. Remember Hakubo is an Oni and onis eat humans, that kinda their thing. So as gross as that was it was completely in character. (Also I'd argue that it might've been unwilling on Hakubo's part and had quite a bit to do with Sumire taking about being destroyed in the previous chapter)

Either way on to Sakura! So for starters I still think she's the god.

While she claims to be an esper she quickly brushes it off and a joke and claims that it's only half true, quickly followed by saying she'd answer yorishiro's but I'm really caught up on the fact that she uses the term "wish" especially with the significance wishes have in the series and the fact that the god grants wishes. Now I don't know a lot about espers and as far as I could find they don't originate from any kind of irl mythology or urban legends, which in of itself is odd, every supernatural we've met so far is either from irl mythology like the mokke (which are a real life yokai) or Oni, or they come from irl urban legends like Hanako himself. Or are just supposed to follow in horror tropes. Sakura as an esper would be the only one not following this trend, to add to that, I looked online an couldn't find any examples of an esper being immortal or having a longer life span then a normal human. But what would bring this all together and make it so that she was infact telling a half truth, would be if she were an esper that gained the power of a god, possibly through eating one.

This theory actually backs some of the criticism I got on my first post about Sakura being a god, being that the god seems to go back all the way to Sumire's time period which is probably more than 100 years. (Though I do have other rebuttals to that criticism like the fact that Japan was in isolation from pretty much the entire world until late in the industrial revolution and because of that what might at first seem like ancient Japan might actually take place only a century or so ago, or the fact that there is no limit on Sakura's age just that her wish was created over a hundred years ago meaning that she could be in her thousands for all we know.)
