I Like Pie Bakeshop, 38 S Raymond Ave, Pasadena, CA 91105
ILY opened recently in Old Town Pasadena, about a block from The Pie Hole. Their pies look different – they’re individually sized and they look big cupcakes. They have sweet pies (e.g., salted caramel apple, lemon Danish, chocolate chip chess), savory pies, hand pies, mini pies, vegan pies, and gluten-free pies. You can also get a scoop of Bloomfield Ice Cream to make your pie a la mode. Sightglass Coffee is served, along with iced tea, milk, hot chocolate, etc. The individual sized pies are $8.50 - $8.99 each.
The pies look beautiful; it’s clear that they’re made with care. The shop is also attractive.
Chicken pot pie ($12.75): A classic version but smaller: chunks of white meat chicken (a tad dry), carrots, celery, onions, peas in a light gravy/sauce and a buttery, flaky crust. It’s really good!
Mini pumpkin pie ($3.50): Cute but very small, maybe two bites worth. Couldn’t taste much because it was so small and mostly crust.
I think the pies were well made but they’re overpriced. While service was friendly, I overheard them disparaging The Pie Hole.
4 out of 5 stars
