1. Holy shit I am so happy I found another person who gets how smart Percy is, and gets that every instance of Percy looking/getting called stupid is due to his dyslexia or people not telling him anything.

2. Which book/chapter is this from? I need to bookmark it ASAP and start shouting it from the metaphorical tumblr hills.

3. We really don't talk about how good a mom Sally is? Like yeah she's badass and gentle but like. She respects Percy. When the school system failed Percy, she's the one who still not only believed that he was smart but still acted like it and probably taught him too. Queen mom Sally Jackson right there.

1.) YEAHH EXACTLY. Or his ADHD 😭 It drives me NUTS whenever Percy is treated as the dumb + comedic guy. Like I get what they're saying and why they're saying it, but sometimes his character gets reduced to JUST that and it hurts my soul. I get that he's funny as a narrator and as a character and sometimes he can be a little "clueless" but it just feels like some people like to think of that as either all he is or a huge part of who he is. I believe I've also seen Leo get this treatment despite literally being insanely smart at such a young age so. that's...fun. They can be funny and smart too 😞

2.) It's from the 10th Anniversary edition of The Lightning Thief! It's Rick's cover letter for the first readers of the manuscript & a note from the narrator. I don't have a copy of that edition myself, but I've seen some pictures of it on Rick's blog and someone posted one of the pages on Reddit (where I got it from).

3.) YEEEAHHHH I LOVE HER SO MUCH!!! What I would do to get adopted by her rn. The way she talks to him makes me kinda teary-eyed because she's just so...you can just tell how much she loves Percy and that she would do anything to make sure he grew up resilient and kind in a world that's always out to get him. She believes in him so much that it just makes me lose my mind a little. It's just so sweet and I can't help but feel so moved by it.

I'm not sure if you've read Chalice of the Gods, but there's this scene where (spoilers, kinda) Sally talks to Percy after the whole thing with Hebe and honestly this scene makes me want to sob and cry and weep

it's wild how badly choices fans will bend over backwards to defend cheating, and acting like the books that come out have been wildly different, and not the same smutty affair books.

am i crazy for not being okay with all the cheating-based plotlines and abusive relationships that they're romanticizing??

it'd be one thing if they actually let the characters be morally grey, but they're acting like the the MC's and LI's are never in the wrong because the person they're screwing over (usually a woman) is a little bit mean or also doing something bad, even if they didn't know it while they were cheating.

if you're gonna make a story about cheating, at least go all in and make it messy and human. maybe it'd at least be a little interesting that way.

job searching, despite the tons of applications I've put in and the stupid fancy new resume i made, has been going very badly My mental health has just been absolute garbage type bad, which is why I've been stuck in this slump of not doing anything other than suffering... I'm working on getting my medications sorted out, which is helping me with this problem, but it's taking time and I'm dealing with my insurance denying everything (bcs I'm also in the process of getting approved for a hysterectomy AND a dermatologist and insurance doesn't like that) and getting a new psychiatrist I'm always still gratefully accepting any tips/donations to help me out while I don't have a job :') Here's my Ko-Fi 💖 Art in return will be back as soon as I'm finished with my queue once I'm able to manage things (when I say my mh has been bad... I mean like bad bad. the kind of bad you dont talk about online usually) Today after buying some food and body wash I have $11.86 in my bank, and blood work coming up Friday the 28th, as well as a few bills that autopay at the beginning of each month and will overdraft my bank ($58 for one and $66 for another, $124 total) I've actually also been trying to look into getting help with SSI because I was fired due to mental disability, but that hasn't been going well either. I'm feeling really awful about all of this. It weighs on me very heavily and makes trying to get out of this depression worse, and I've been putting this off for a while because of how embarrassed I am. book percy was always this character who i thought was the coolest & who i experienced comphet for (& i still do.) tv percy, on the other hand, is this rightfully fed up kid who i adopted & is now my son.
