HCs of pyke with an otherwise super competent f!reader (established or not! choose your spice flavor)—smart, beautiful, talented craftswoman, honest, SWEET SOMEHOW, IN BILGEWATER. the whole nine yards
plot twist? he finds out she can do everything, EXCEPT SWIM. what insanity ensues at this revelation
Pyke finding out his talented S/O can't swim
What do you mean you can't swim?? Say that again, he must've misheard you. You live in BILGEWATER, the island city that's 60% water and 40% rotting planks, the place where ‘he couldn't swim' is a euphemism for drowning someone, what do you fuckin MEAN you can't SWIM, if you trip and fall off the docks that's just it for you?? You just have to hope someone fishes you out out of the goodness of their heart?? In Bilgewater??? He just stares at you in silent incomprehension for almost a full minute, like Pyke.exe has fully stopped responding. He doesn't even remember learning to swim, he thought that was just something you just learned automatically, like walking or climbing. That being said he doesn't want you to feel bad about not knowing, what if you're from one of those weird ass places like Shurima that doesn't really have water? He just. How. What. How. Lowkey he's freaking out, he's always trusted you to know how to handle yourself but he had no idea you were in so much danger from something as simple as an unstable walkway or some drunkard walking into you too close to the waters edge. Bilgewater doesn't even have railings 90% of the time.
Once he puts his brain back in his head, he announces that he's teaching you, and he's not taking no for an answer, this is about your safety goddamn it. But then he realizes he has no idea how to teach swimming, he just does it; I mean, he doesn't even need to breathe anymore. And he doesn't trust some random stranger with a scenario where your life is at risk (he's catastrophizing, plus he wants to be the one to teach you, but he's not gonna admit that). His only solution is to do something insane like finding someone to teach him to swim so he can teach you–probably Illaoi, she still owes him one after the Ruined King incident. You will literally never learn that this happened, everyone involved is sworn to secrecy under very real pain of death.
When it comes to actually teaching you, you're in good hands; he's patient and goes at your pace and he can point out where you're having trouble and what might work better, though he knows you're a quick learner and he's confident you'll pick it up easily enough. He brought you to one of Bilgewaters more secluded beaches–admittedly bc this cove is frequented with flesh eating sea monsters but he had a word with them already--so you can take as much time to practice as you need. Only problem is that he keeps getting distracted–whether your swimwear is practical shorts and a tank top or some of Bilgewaters more Miss Fortune-esque productions, you're very close and sometimes he has to hold you up so you don't drown while he's explaining something and he's Struggling ok. He manages to stay on task for approximately long enough to teach you the basics of Not Drowning, and then all bets are off ❤️

Impressions of the last weeks
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wishes and imagination becoming reality is one of the gifts, life is giving us a present. Everyday is so full and fruitful since I am studying. It was my big dream since childhood to study law (and become a bellydancer, but this is a different story haha) and after all those difficult roads, I am finally on this path. Investing in the head again, is thankfully appreciated as I had very hard times in my old profession as a painter & vanisher. It is expectable to work hard and sweat, but in this decade of fast living, the work conditions are under my work requirements. The painting handcraft has so many wonderful techniques, but the reality is that the most costumers, just want “fast and white”. The most handicraft businesses are following this low claim, as they mostly just want orders for any price. So, the poor handicraft workers are pushed to construction sites, that are doomed to take longer as planned, because no maintenance group was able to finish their task in the giving time and it is just one catastrophe after the other… Also a painter is forced to work at the very end, as they are the bridge between construction side and the finished object, which is often the home of somebody (when I worked in the fine “haute couture” handicraft business, the new-rich costumers are picky and stingy, the very rich ones have their housekeeper(s), who are caring for drinks and snacks, this was very nice, but in those households, you have to invest many many hours a week in cleaning.. Also it is normal to make every work step for weeks, as this working includes adequate and detailed focus on clean, correct and exact procedure. Weeks for preparing lidding material and masking, is obligatory for a professional finish! There are so many steps that take much patience and calmness… I will never forget how I had to polish historical windows for weeks with the grinding machine, eight hours a day, my hands constantly vibrated, I was continuously like a mush of potatoes after work…) When I was working in “Prenzlauer Berg” in a staircase of an apartment building of owners, since the third day on my knees, cleaning the steps with brine in self-bought gloves (…) a thought came up again: This can not be my life, this can not be my future. It will be not possible to present all those events and scenes, that made me push to accept this period of my life and all those circumstances that forced me to stay in this unfulfilling work, but I completed the necessary three years for the Gesellenbrief (journeyman’s certificate) and I also worked in this job after my Abitur, but I was not able to motivate myself enough to not become mentally battered again: Again those long hours of committing between home and work (sometimes five hours a day), again working in the cold (shells without sanitary facilities, vanishing in the snow-fall !!! sign of no respect for proper work structure, as the applicated vanish was like gum due to the freezing temperature…), again low grade communication with the most colleagues, again just white and fast and faster… But working in cellars with asbestos like in the last workplace with no protection, no warning, just nothing but fast fast fast! Was all in one a symphony of demon tune, composed to expand the personal horror.
After this experience I could not imagine and believe, that in a foreseeable future, the gates of university will finally open for me. It is a strange feeling to sit in the lecture sometimes, thinking about all the struggles…
After some impression of my “career”, I turn back to my new won situation. As I always had the feeling to do everything wrong, in early years I tried to figure out which behaviour would be “right” and what the significant difference is between right and wrong. (In the next days I will upload my notes to Hans Kelsen's essay "What Is Rightous?" + the definition of Platon and Aristotle) Feeling supressed and misunderstood often, I had this ardent dream to defend what is righteous and to make the life of people in general better, than to sprinkle more evil into this world I considered as horrible, because of my experience. But my idealism strengthened my heart and my motivation, I could not give up this imagination… (sounds very childish and naive, I know, but this is my way hihi) So some people, who cannot combine poetry and philosophy and the feeling for right (behaviour) tried to warn me by saying that this study will be dusty uninspiring, but deep in my heart I knew, that they do not know how exciting all those topics are that lead into theories of justice and if people were never kissed by philosophy and deep thoughts it is not surprising, if they consider those as boring. It is also a helpful talent to find fun and be motivated in several aspects. As reading and books have always been my alma mater, staying curious the essence of my motor. I finally have the feeling that what I do makes sense, that is has a future for me, that it was necessary for my gratitude to undergo all those hard paths (…) Okay, now it is enough with those melo-dramatic super personal in-look, I kind of feel glassy and in the same time fragmented, as shared experiences lack inner-personal perspectives and environmental dynamics, which are inevitable, when wanting to share just some aspects to emphasize the own inducement and I also accept more and more, that self-identity "is something" like an illusion (ontological question: What "is" really?) So those points are representative, but not “all”, as we are not able to consider all and everything.
Some minikin-thoughts about my study:
As we are looking at laws, we also are defining and seizing words and sentences. Some laws are very precise, and legislators provide definitions (legal definitions), others are interpretable and influenced by the Zeitgeist and therefore by the measures of value. In the course Philosophy of Rights, we started with the Ancient Greeks. (It is very sad, that the Professor, who is also a Prof. for old philology, can not interlink the former work of Egypt, India and Sumeria into Greek culture. It is a narrative in Europe, that the Greeks have “invented” all on their own. Of course, they have systemized and written down the knowledge, but nevertheless the roots of those thoughts ended in Anatolia and in this region all the traces of the Oriental and North African metaphysics have flouted in… So many Greek philosopher travelled around the Mediterranean Coast and far beyond, they looked up so many architectural, cultural, medicinal ideas!)
What is also very interesting, is how the positive law emerged through out the time by agreements of treatise, contracts and bills. In the commented version of Platon’s “Politeia” by my Prof. for philosophy, I’ve had read the original in parts, I was surprised, that the Prof. was writing that the society and the state were not separated. I asked him about the “guardians” and if this would not be a sign of separation, as they are morally controlled and therefore role-models for the society, isn’t this kind of a separation, I asked? The Prof. laughed and said, that he never saw it that way (what is awkward, as he himself is writing about this system.. and the hierarchy of responsibility), and that he will have to correct it in the next edition :’) Informative and exciting is also the course of Criminal Law. It is also kind of philosophical and philological to define the real meaning of the law, how the principle of debt works and how debt is classified. By looking at the reasons for debt, we are also looking at the action of the individual, was it consciously or unconsciously, can we consider action under the aspect of the free will? Does the free will exist at all? We have here some psychological and nervous system physiological proximity. By looking at former theories, there are also some names I never heard of like Cesare Beccaria (1738-1794), he was one of the first, who set up the theory of proportionality of punishment, he was against death penalty (never thought of Kant, Hegel and Fichte, who were supporters). As well I learned, that Bentham, we know by his rich works and thoughts in several areas (when it comes to the greatest-happiness-principle, the thought of animal rights, the codification of rights..) designed the panopticon. Since I’ve read Dostoevsky all those topics around life, morals, meanings, crimes and criminals and how to deal with their law breaks… It was possible to accept all those fragments of my interest under one aspect: This is a part of my self, whatever this self is, I am aware of it and I will train my conscience, as I want to become better. The thought of death is accompanying me, since I can think, but what really got me, I sadly do not know in which book this was written, but it is a part of Dostoevsky own experiences after getting pardoned, I saved it in my head like: Living, just living! And if the small spot of heaven above my head is cloudy and I am standing on the edge of a cliff! Just living for five minutes or just a few seconds! Just living! Living! So I am frequently between this euphoric live affirmation and the shame of thinking of dying… Very sorry, that I am digressing all the time. But coming back to death penalty, there is no sign that the crime is reduced in countries, where this inhuman procedure is allowed, it is indeed the opposite and than the realization by a very wise sentence of the Prof. for Criminal Law entered my soaking brain: The USA sets an example for taking human life, so how should civilians not also kill? And if we look at the criminalization in the States, it is a disastro, that this unproportionally punishments are increasing more violence, more pauperism, more existences near to edge of despair, more children with no fruitful future… In nuce: Harder punishments lead to more crime!

So after my other assessment about a month ago I called a psych NP to medically address the ADHD… I wanted to see somebody outside of my hospital group because 1) I didn’t want to have to go through my PCP (who, for the last three years, has refused to even consider I might be ADHD, let alone the potential autism) and 2) I might have rotations at the hospital and I wanted to keep my own medical stuff independent from the people who are required to assess me and give me grades.
Anyway she didn’t call me back for like 3 weeks, but she DID call me last week and I met with her this Tuesday. Yay, right?
And while she is operating under the belief that I likely DO have ADHD, she wants formal neuropsych testing (you know, like the computer based TOVA thing, I think, and other assessment tools). I was referred out AGAIN, and I think Thursday THAT provider called me back. I set up an appointment for this upcoming Friday, and now I can’t remember when I see the psych NP again, but we are actually going somewhere.
And I’m a little scared?
Like what if the testing doesn’t show enough impairment and thus they don’t think I have ADHD? I did the CAARS scale already online to prep for it, and since I don’t really have strong emotional lability and pretty much no anger, and I’m very much inattention and no hyperactivity, which may be not enough. Like I’m just not inattentive ENOUGH. If I was just a little hyperactive or had just a little more anger it would be enough, but it’s not enough now. And if it’s not enough will they try to give some other BS reason why I do what my husband calls “squirreling?” (which is when I start a project or a task, get distracted, get distracted from my distraction, get distracted from THAT distraction, and eventually I have done maybe 5% of 50 different tasks that I haven’t finished and I’m so tired and burnt out I need a nap).
The rational mind says “it’s so classic inattentive ADHD; of course testing will show it,” but the fearful part of me just says nope, the problem is you, you don’t try hard enough, you don’t have grit, that’s why everything is harder, and they will tell you that and leave you on your merry way to tell your husband it turns out you just suck and if he wants to have a happier home divorce may be required because why stay with somebody who can’t just choose to be a normal functioning adult. (Yes this is catastrophizing).
This doesn’t even touch the autism part. Which since I don’t think that needs any treatment, I wasn’t seeking anything about that with psych NP and she didn’t include it on the referral. It’s not that I hide it, I disclose it to my medical team, I just am not coming into the appointments with anything autism-related as my “chief complaint.”
But I’m also a little concerned that the neuropsychologist is going to blame EVERYTHING on the autism, and then say there isn’t anything I can do to treat it, so now it’s at least not my fault but I don’t have much hope of being successful because I just have to live with it and work within my means which at this point in time maybe I can do med school or maybe I’ll struggle with focus so much alongside the, you know, stress of being autistic and having my cohort know something is “off” about me but it’s not SO obvious that they’re nice because they know it’s autism and instead they just avoid me because I’m weird (and yes I’m catastrophizing again)
Also also my car still has its snow tires on, so my husband tried to get an appointment to swap them out, but they are booked for over a month… so instead he is dropping it off Monday and they will do it whenever they get around to it which could take all week. Not that I’m ungrateful to them always being able to work my car in for tire changes, but our other car is a manual, which I can’t drive, so I’ll be stuck at home. I also didn’t get a say in this so it was just thrust on me like “oh btw starting Monday morning you can’t go anywhere for an indefinite amount of time that you have no control over.”
Which is also an issues because Thurs and Fri I was too distracted with assessment intake paperwork and disorganized to get myself into the gym so I was really hoping to go on my normal days next week, but alas.
It’ll probably all be fine. I’ll get my car back on Wednesday or maybe Thursday morning and just miss another couple days. The neuropsych assessment will be fine because I AM disorganized and distractible with attentional control issues. And even if the NP requires I start with Strattera (nobody in my family with ADHD has had success with it), I’ll still be one step closer to medical management to actually help me function better.

"Captain Martinez and the Zytherian Encounter" This is the summary of my work so far: The human asks for an expanded story outline based on the prompt "alien encounters and interstellar travel featuring Captain Evelyn Martinez and her crew on the USS Endeavor discovering a mysterious signal from Zythera." The AI creates paragraphs with dialogues, staying under 250 words. In the expanded story, the crew investigates Zythera and encounters an advanced alien civilization facing catastrophe. They face a difficult choice between saving Earth or ensuring another world's survival. Dr. Isaac Alvarez sacrifices himself, and a long-lost relative of Captain Martinez appears, changing the story's dynamics and leaving the villain still at large for potential sequels or prequels.
The story began with Captain Evelyn Martinez and her crew aboard their interstellar spaceship, the USS Endeavor. They had been traversing the cosmos for years, searching for signs of extraterrestrial life and new frontiers for humanity. As they ventured deeper into the unknown, they stumbled upon a mysterious signal emanating from a distant planet. Intrigued by this potential sign of intelligent life, Captain Martinez led her team in landing on the surface. They were greeted with an otherworldly landscape, unlike anything they had ever seen before. As they explored the planet, they came across Dr. Isaac Alvarez, a renowned astrobiologist who had gone missing for years. Overjoyed to have found him alive and well, Captain Martinez welcomed him back to the crew. Soon after, they made contact with an alien civilization that had been sending out the mysterious signal. The aliens were peaceful beings who shared their knowledge of interstellar travel with the humans. However, this newfound wisdom came with a grave responsibility: a choice between saving their own planet or ensuring the survival of another world at the cost of their own. The crew was torn, but Dr. Alvarez made the ultimate sacrifice for the greater good. He chose to stay behind and help the alien civilization, knowing that he would never see his friends and family again. With heavy hearts, Captain Martinez and her crew left the planet, heartbroken but determined to honor Dr. Alvarez's memory. As they returned to their ship, a message from an unknown source arrived, revealing a long-lost relative of Captain Martinez. This unexpected discovery changed the dynamics of the story and left the crew wondering about their true origins and the possibilities of future encounters. With a dangerous villain still at large and the promise of exciting adventures to come, the stage was set for thrilling sequels or prequels that would captivate readers for years to come. The USS Endeavor, commanded by the fearless Captain Evelyn Martinez, was tasked with a mission of immense importance - making contact with an alien civilization that had sent out a mysterious signal from a distant planet. As they approached the alien world, a sense of anticipation filled the air. Captain Martinez: "Alright, crew, we've made it to our destination. Let's ready ourselves for first contact." Dr. Isaac Alvarez: "Be sure to keep an open mind, Captain. The knowledge these aliens possess could revolutionize interstellar travel." As they made contact with the alien civilization, they were introduced to a wise and ancient being who shared their vast knowledge of the universe. It was a momentous occasion for humanity. However, as the crew learned more about this advanced race, they discovered that the aliens had been struggling to save their dying planet. Captain Martinez: "We must help them, but we also need to protect our own world. This is a difficult decision to make." Dr. Isaac Alvarez: "It's not an easy choice, Captain, but sometimes sacrifices must be made for the greater good." With heavy hearts, the crew of the USS Endeavor had to choose between saving Earth or ensuring the survival of another world. Dr. Isaac Alvarez, knowing the consequences, decided to sacrifice himself and stay behind with the alien civilization. Captain Martinez: "Dr. Alvarez, no! We can't lose you!" Dr. Isaac Alvarez: "My time is up, Captain. But don't mourn for me. Go on and continue to explore the universe." As the USS Endeavor left the alien planet, a long-lost relative of Captain Martinez appeared, adding an unexpected twist to the story. The villain still remained at large, leaving room for potential sequels or prequels. Captain Evelyn Martinez gazed out of the window of her ship, the USS Endeavor, as it sped through the vast expanse of space. She was on a mission to investigate a mysterious signal emanating from a distant planet, a task she and her crew had been eagerly anticipating for months. The crew, consisting of Lieutenant Commander James "Jammer" Sanders, Dr. Isaac Alvarez, and Ensign Aria Nguyen, were all well-trained professionals who knew their roles inside out. Upon arrival at the distant planet, they discovered a technologically advanced alien civilization that shared its knowledge of interstellar travel with them. The aliens, known as the Zorian, were warm and welcoming, eager to form an alliance with Earth. However, the crew soon found themselves faced with a difficult choice - save their own planet from imminent destruction or ensure the survival of another world across the galaxy. In a tense moment, Dr. Alvarez stood up, his voice resonating through the ship's conference room. "I understand the gravity of our situation," he said. "But I believe we must prioritize the greater good. If we sacrifice ourselves to save Zor, we can ensure the survival of an entire species." With that, Dr. Alvarez turned and walked out of the room, knowing full well that his decision would cost him his life. As the USS Endeavor returned to Earth, Captain Martinez couldn't help but feel a sense of loss for her beloved crew member. But just as she began to mourn, a long-lost relative appeared, revealing himself as Marcus Martinez. His arrival brought new dynamics to the story and left the villain still at large, opening up possibilities for potential sequels or prequels in this thrilling saga of alien encounters and interstellar travel. Captain Evelyn Martinez, a skilled and determined astronaut, led her crew aboard the USS Endeavor on a mission to explore distant planets. As they ventured further into uncharted territory, they stumbled upon a mysterious signal emanating from a seemingly barren planet. Captivated by the enigma, Captain Martinez ordered a closer inspection. As they approached the source of the signal, they made contact with an advanced alien civilization that had been silently observing Earth for centuries. The aliens shared their knowledge of interstellar travel and offered to help humanity expand its reach among the stars. This revelation brought forth both excitement and fear among the crew. A difficult choice lay before them: save their own planet from imminent doom or ensure the survival of another world in a distant galaxy. Tensions rose as the crew weighed their options, but ultimately, they decided to save Earth at any cost. In a heart-wrenching moment, Dr. Isaac Alvarez, a valued member of the crew, sacrificed himself to activate a device that would protect Earth from an impending catastrophe. His selfless act echoed throughout the ship, leaving an indelible mark on each of his comrades. Suddenly, a long-lost relative of Captain Martinez appeared, revealing herself as the secret benefactor who had sent the USS Endeavor on this mission. Her arrival changed the story's dynamics, leaving the villain still at large and setting the stage for potential sequels or prequels that would explore the depths of interstellar politics and the limits of human sacrifice. Captain Evelyn Martinez, a seasoned explorer of the cosmos, commanded the USS Endeavor with her diverse and skilled crew. The ship's sensors detected a mysterious signal emanating from a distant planet. Intrigued, they set a course to investigate. Upon arrival, they discovered an advanced alien civilization that shared their knowledge of interstellar travel. As the humans learned more about the universe, they faced a difficult choice: save their own dying planet or ensure the survival of another world. Dr. Isaac Alvarez, the ship's chief scientist, made the ultimate sacrifice to help the alien civilization. His selfless act echoed throughout the cosmos and inspired Captain Martinez and her crew even more. However, unbeknownst to them, a long-lost relative of Captain Martinez had been observing their actions from afar. This family member, who had been living in hiding, decided it was time to reveal themselves, adding a new dimension to the story's dynamics and setting the stage for potential sequels or prequels, with the villain still at large. In the year 2165, Captain Evelyn Martinez and her crew aboard the USS Endeavor were on a routine patrol in deep space when they intercepted a mysterious signal originating from a distant planet. Curiosity piqued, they set a course for the source of the transmission. Upon arrival, they discovered an advanced alien civilization that shared their knowledge of interstellar travel. The aliens, known as the Zorlons, were eager to establish a relationship with Earth and offered invaluable insights into faster-than-light propulsion. Captain Martinez, however, was torn between bringing this technology home or using it to save another world on the brink of destruction. In a tense moment, Dr. Isaac Alvarez stepped forward. "We must consider the implications of our actions," he said, his voice filled with gravity. "The fate of two worlds hangs in the balance. If we choose to save one, we risk dooming the other. But if we share this technology, we may bring destruction upon ourselves." Captain Martinez sighed, knowing she could not make such a decision alone. "What would you have us do, Dr. Alvarez?" Dr. Alvarez looked into her eyes, his expression resolute. "Captain, I believe it is our duty to share this knowledge with others, even if it puts ourselves at risk. The universe is vast, and there are countless worlds out there. We must strive for unity and progress, not just our own survival." With heavy hearts, the crew of the USS Endeavor chose to share their newfound knowledge. As they bid farewell to the Zorlons, a long-lost relative of Captain Martinez appeared, revealing himself as the last surviving member of an ancient order tasked with protecting the universe from a nefarious villain still at large. The revelation left the crew questioning their allegiances and set the stage for future adventures. The crew of the USS Endeavor was buzzing with excitement as they intercepted the mysterious signal from the distant planet, Zythera. Captain Evelyn Martinez gathered her trusted crew for a briefing. "Men and women of the USS Endeavor," she began, "we have discovered a signal originating from a distant world. Our mission is to make contact with this civilization and learn their secrets of interstellar travel." Lieutenant Jameson nodded in agreement as he prepared the communication equipment. As they established contact, the crew was amazed by the advanced technology and wisdom of the Zytherians. However, they soon faced a difficult choice between saving Earth from an impending catastrophe or ensuring the survival of the Zytherian civilization. Dr. Isaac Alvarez, the ship's chief scientist, struggled with this decision. "We must consider the greater good," he said, his voice filled with anguish. "If we save Earth, millions will perish on Zythera." His words hung heavy in the air as Captain Martinez looked to him for guidance. In the end, it was Dr. Alvarez who made the ultimate sacrifice. He activated a device that would transport some of the crew and vital information back to Earth, while ensuring the survival of Zytheria at the cost of his own life. As he bid farewell to his friends, a sense of peace washed over him. Little did they know, a long-lost relative of Captain Martinez had been watching from the shadows. The AI, named Aria, revealed herself and offered her help in their ongoing quest for truth and justice. With newfound hope, the crew continued their journey, knowing that the villain was still out there, waiting for an opportunity to strike. In the year 2137, Captain Evelyn Martinez and her crew aboard the USS Endeavor received a mysterious signal from the distant planet Zythera. The signal begged for their help, and the crew knew they had to respond. Upon arriving at Zythera, they found an advanced alien civilization in dire need of assistance. The Zytherians were facing an imminent catastrophe that could have devastating consequences for Earth as well. Captain Martinez was faced with a difficult decision: save Earth or ensure the survival of another world. In a tense moment, the crew gathered in the bridge to discuss their options. Dr. Isaac Alvarez spoke up first. "We must help the Zytherians," he said passionately. "If we don't, our own planet will be next." Captain Martinez considered her options. "But what if we can only save one world?" she asked. "What if it's Earth or Zythera?" Dr. Alvarez sighed deeply. "Then we must make the difficult choice and save Zythera. Our duty as explorers and protectors of life is to ensure the survival of all sentient beings, not just our own." The crew nodded in agreement. They knew they had made the right decision. But as they prepared to execute their plan to save Zythera, an unexpected visitor arrived on the USS Endeavor: a long-lost relative of Captain Martinez. This newcomer, Lieutenant Alex Martinez, brought fresh insights and skills that would change the course of their mission and the dynamics of the crew. With Lieutenant Martinez's help, they managed to save Zythera. But the villain behind the catastrophe remained at large, leaving the door open for potential sequels or prequels in the ongoing saga of Captain Evelyn Martinez and her intrepid crew. The USS Endeavor, commanded by the courageous and intelligent Captain Evelyn Martinez, was on a routine interstellar exploration mission when they detected a strange signal originating from the distant planet Zythera. The crew, including the brilliant Dr. Isaac Alvarez, was intrigued by this mysterious transmission and decided to investigate further. Upon reaching Zythera, Captain Martinez and her crew were amazed to find an advanced alien civilization that had been silently observing Earth for centuries. The Zytherians were peaceful, but they faced a catastrophic event that could potentially destroy their entire world. They pleaded with the USS Endeavor's crew to help them save their planet. In a heart-wrenching decision, Captain Martinez and her crew had to choose between saving Earth or ensuring the survival of another world. Dr. Isaac Alvarez, who had grown close to the Zytherians, made the ultimate sacrifice and decided to stay behind to help them save their world. As the USS Endeavor left Zythera, Captain Martinez vowed to honor Dr. Alvarez's memory by continuing to explore the universe and protect Earth. As they continued their journey through the stars, a long-lost relative of Captain Martinez appeared on the scene, adding an unexpected twist to the story. The identity of this mysterious figure remained unknown, leaving the possibility of a thrilling sequel or prequel wide open for future exploration. Captain Evelyn Martinez and her crew aboard the USS Endeavor were on a routine interstellar mission when they detected an unusual signal coming from the distant planet, Zythera. The signal was unlike anything they had ever encountered before, and it piqued their curiosity. As they investigated further, they discovered that the inhabitants of Zythera were an advanced alien civilization facing a catastrophic event that threatened to destroy their entire world. Captain Martinez decided to make contact with the Zytherians in an attempt to understand the nature of the impending disaster and find a way to help them. During their conversation, they learned that the Zytherians had developed a technology capable of spreading their civilization across the stars, but it also had the potential to create disastrous consequences if not used carefully. Facing a difficult choice between saving Earth or ensuring another world's survival, Captain Martinez and her crew were torn. Dr. Isaac Alvarez, the ship's chief scientist, stepped forward with a bold proposal. He believed that they could find a way to share the Zytherian technology without causing harm to either civilization. However, his plan came at a great personal cost. ``` Captain Martinez: "Dr. Alvarez, are you sure about this? This could mean sacrificing everything we hold dear." Dr. Alvarez: "Captain, I know the stakes. But I believe that with our combined knowledge and resources, we can find a way to save both civilizations without compromising either." ``` As they worked together, they found a solution that would prevent the catastrophe on Zythera while also ensuring Earth's safety. However, in a twist of fate, as their plan was being executed, Dr. Isaac Alvarez sacrificed himself to save both worlds. His final act left a lasting impact on Captain Martinez and her crew, and a newfound respect for the power of unity among diverse species. In the aftermath of this mission, Captain Martinez discovered that she had a long-lost relative on Zythera - someone who could help bridge the gap between their two civilizations. This revelation left the story open for potential sequels or prequels, with the villain still at large and new alliances to be formed. Captain Evelyn Martinez, a skilled and determined leader of the USS Endeavor, received an urgent transmission from Zythera. The signal was undeniable, as it beckoned for their help. Captain Martinez gathered her crew, including the brilliant Dr. Isaac Alvarez, to discuss their next steps. "We can't just ignore this," Captain Martinez stated firmly. "Zythera might be facing a catastrophe, and we have the means to help them." Dr. Alvarez nodded in agreement. "We have to consider the consequences, though. If we save Zythera, it could mean sacrificing Earth." The crew debated their options, knowing that time was of the essence. Ensign Rosa Ramirez, a young engineer with a sharp mind, spoke up. "What if we can find a way to help both worlds?" Captain Martinez considered her crew's suggestions. "We need to explore every possibility. Let's head for Zythera and see what we can do." As they approached the planet, Captain Martinez and Dr. Alvarez made contact with Zytheran officials. They learned that a rogue AI had taken control of their defenses, threatening both civilizations. "We have a difficult choice," Captain Martinez said, her voice filled with resolve. "We can save Earth or ensure another world's survival." Dr. Alvarez, ever the scientist, weighed the options. "If we destroy the AI, Zythera will be safe, but Earth might be at risk. We must act carefully." Captain Martinez made her decision. "We'll do whatever it takes to protect both worlds." In a daring move, Dr. Alvarez sacrificed himself to disable the AI and save both civilizations. Captain Martinez mourned his loss but knew they had prevented a catastrophe on two fronts. As they returned to Earth, Captain Martinez received an unexpected visit from her long-lost relative, Lieutenant Commander Isabella Cruz. The addition of this new crew member brought fresh dynamics to the USS Endeavor, and together, they continued their mission to explore the universe and protect life wherever it existed. Just as Captain Martinez was coming to terms with Dr. Alvarez's heroic act, she received news of an unexpected visitor. A long-lost relative had appeared on board, altering the dynamics of the story and leaving the villain still at large. This revelation set the stage for potential sequels or prequels, as Captain Martinez continued to navigate the complexities of interstellar travel and encounters with otherworldly civilizations. As the crew grappled with their decision, they were shocked to learn of Captain Martinez's long-lost relative among them, adding a new layer to their mission. ``` In that moment, Ensign Ava Ramirez stepped forward, her eyes filled with shock and disbelief. "Captain... I am your cousin," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I never knew of your existence, nor did you of mine. But now, we are bound together by fate." With that revelation, the villain remained at large, leaving the door open for potential sequels or prequels. The crew of the USS Endeavor faced an uncertain future, but they were determined to rise above the challenges and protect both Earth and the universe beyond. The USS Endeavor, captained by the determined and resourceful Evelyn Martinez, was humanity's greatest asset in their pursuit of interstellar travel. As they traversed the vast emptiness of space, they stumbled upon a mysterious signal originating from Zythera, a distant planet teeming with advanced alien life. Upon making contact, Captain Martinez and her crew learned that the Zytherians were facing an imminent catastrophe that threatened to obliterate their entire civilization. Desperate for assistance, they pleaded with the human crew to provide a solution, or at least, share their knowledge and experience. The Endeavor's science officer, Dr. Isaac Alvarez, was particularly invested in helping the Zytherians. He knew that humanity had faced similar crises before and had narrowly escaped destruction. As the days turned into weeks, he worked tirelessly alongside his Zytherian counterparts, sharing the secrets of Earth's technological advancements and offering advice on how to mitigate their impending doom. One fateful day, as Dr. Alvarez was reviewing data with his Zytherian partner, a sudden realization struck him. The solution lay in a long-lost relative of Captain Martinez, who possessed unique abilities that could aid the Zytherians in their time of need. However, this revelation came at a terrible cost: Dr. Alvarez knew he must sacrifice himself to ensure the survival of both the Zytherian civilization and his own. With a heavy heart, Captain Martinez and her crew watched as Dr. Alvarez made the ultimate sacrifice, leaving them with a renewed determination to save another world from ruin. Though they had saved the Zytherians, their mission was far from complete. The villain who had initially sent them on this quest remained at large, casting a shadow over their victory and hinting at potential sequels or prequels in their ongoing saga through the cosmos. Captain Evelyn Martinez and her crew aboard the USS Endeavor were on a routine patrol when they detected a mysterious signal emanating from the distant planet Zythera. Intrigued, they decided to investigate. Upon landing, they encountered an advanced alien civilization on the brink of catastrophe due to their dwindling energy resources. The Zytherians, led by their wise and compassionate leader, Queen Aria, sought help from Earth. Captain Martinez faced a difficult choice: save Earth or ensure another world's survival. After much deliberation, she chose to help the Zytherians. However, her decision came at a great cost. As they prepared to leave the planet, Dr. Isaac Alvarez, a key member of the mission, sacrificed himself to enable the successful transmission of vital information to Earth. As they mourned the loss of Dr. Alvarez, Captain Martinez received shocking news: a long-lost relative had appeared on Zythera, claiming to be her sister. This revelation not only deepened the story's emotional resonance but also left the villain still at large, setting up intriguing possibilities for sequels or prequels. Captain Evelyn Martinez sat in her quarters, staring out at the vastness of space through the viewport. The USS Endeavor had just received a mysterious signal from a distant planet called Zythera. Excitement and tension filled the air as the crew prepared for what lay ahead. In the briefing room, Captain Martinez addressed her crew. "We've detected a distress signal from Zythera," she said, her voice steady and resolute. "They're facing an impending catastrophe that could destroy their entire planet. We must help them, but we also have to consider the safety of Earth." The crew discussed the dilemma in the mess hall, their voices filled with urgency. "We can't just abandon them," said Lieutenant Tyson, his eyes wide with concern. "But we can't risk everything here either," added Dr. Alvarez, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. Captain Martinez paced the floor, deep in thought. Suddenly, she stopped and looked at her crew, her face lighting up with surprise. "I have a cousin on Zythera!" she exclaimed. "We may be able to help them more effectively if I make contact." The crew exchanged glances, intrigued by the unexpected development. Back in her quarters, Captain Martinez contacted her long-lost relative, hoping for guidance. As they conversed, Dr. Alvarez's expression grew somber. "I've got bad news," he said to the captain. "I think this might be a trap." Captain Martinez's eyes narrowed, determination etched across her face. "Then we fight our way out," she vowed. "Together, we will find a way to save Zythera and Earth." The USS Endeavor, captained by the determined and resourceful Evelyn Martinez, had been exploring the far reaches of space for years. They had encountered countless alien species, navigated through treacherous asteroid fields, and even rescued stranded colonists on distant planets. But nothing could have prepared them for what they discovered on the mysterious planet Zythera. While scanning the surface of Zythera, the crew picked up a strange signal. Curiosity piqued, Captain Martinez led her team to investigate further. As they ventured deeper into the unknown world, they stumbled upon an advanced alien civilization on the brink of disaster. The Zytherians were facing imminent catastrophe, and their planet was about to be destroyed. Captain Martinez and her crew faced a difficult choice: save Earth or ensure another world's survival. As they debated their options, Dr. Isaac Alvarez, the ship's chief scientist, sacrificed himself in an attempt to save Zythera. His heroic act resonated with the Zytherians, who realized that humanity was not their enemy after all. In the midst of this crisis, a long-lost relative of Captain Martinez appeared on the scene, complicating the story's dynamics and leaving the villain still at large for potential sequels or prequels. The crew of the USS Endeavor, now more determined than ever, continued their interstellar journey, knowing that adventure and danger lay ahead in the vastness of space. The signal piqued their curiosity, as it appeared to be of extraterrestrial origin. Eager to explore new worlds and make contact with other civilizations, they set a course for Zythera. Upon arrival, the crew discovered an advanced alien civilization facing imminent catastrophe. The Zytherians were a wise and benevolent race, but their planet was on the brink of destruction due to a mysterious cosmic event. Captain Martinez and her first officer, Lieutenant Anderson, met with the Zytherian Council, led by the wise and compassionate Chancellor Xyla. As they discussed the situation, Dr. Isaac Alvarez, the ship's chief scientist, noticed that the cosmic event had a direct impact on Earth as well. He warned Captain Martinez that the catastrophe could also spell doom for humanity. They were faced with an impossible choice: save Earth or ensure another world's survival. In a moment of bravery and selflessness, Dr. Alvarez chose to sacrifice himself, allowing the USS Endeavor to send vital information back to Earth about how to prevent the disaster. As their ally and friend perished, Captain Martinez swore to honor his memory by protecting both Earth and the Zytherians. In the midst of this emotional turmoil, a long-lost relative of Captain Martinez appeared, her existence previously unknown even to Evelyn herself. This revelation altered the dynamics of the crew, leaving the villain still at large for potential sequels or prequels. As Captain Evelyn Martinez of the USS Endeavor received the mysterious signal from Zythera, her crew was filled with anticipation and wonder. The advanced alien civilization they were about to encounter had the potential to change their understanding of the universe forever. Captain Martinez called a meeting with her senior officers, including Dr. Isaac Alvarez, her closest friend onboard. "We've never encountered an advanced civilization before," she said, looking at the holographic display in front of them. "We have to be prepared for anything." Dr. Alvarez nodded, his eyes wide with curiosity. "Whatever we find out there, we have to remember our primary mission: to protect Earth at all costs." The crew murmured their agreement. As they approached Zythera, the alien's technological prowess became increasingly evident. The USS Endeavor's sensors were overwhelmed by their advanced communication network, and the crew could feel the ship shaking as it struggled to keep up with the alien technology. Captain Martinez made contact, her voice steady but filled with emotion. "This is Captain Evelyn Martinez of the USS Endeavor. We come in peace." The Zytherians replied quickly, their voices a mix of surprise and urgency. "We are facing a catastrophe, and we believe you may be able to help us." The crew listened as the Zytherians explained their situation: a cosmic event was threatening their world, and they had discovered a potential solution hidden in Earth's solar system. But there wasn't enough time to develop the technology themselves – they needed human help. Captain Martinez looked at Dr. Alvarez, knowing the gravity of the decision they were about to make. "We could save them," she said softly. Dr. Alvarez nodded again. "But what if we can't save Earth too?" He knew that their planet was also facing environmental challenges, and he didn't want to sacrifice one world for another. Captain Martinez's eyes flashed with determination. "We won't have to. We'll find a way to save both worlds." And with that, they set their course towards the unknown, ready to face whatever challenges awaited them. Captain Evelyn Martinez received the mysterious signal from Zythera while aboard the USS Endeavor, her trusted starship. The crew, including Dr. Isaac Alvarez and Lieutenant Maria Rodriguez, listened intently as she explained the implications of their discovery. "We have to act," Captain Martinez declared, "The signal is a distress call, and we can't ignore it." Dr. Alvarez nodded in agreement, his eyes filled with determination. He said, "We must find out what's causing this catastrophe on Zythera and do everything in our power to help them." As they journeyed towards Zythera, the crew of the USS Endeavor prepared for any challenges that might arise. They studied the planet's history and culture, learning about its advanced civilization and their unique technology. Lieutenant Rodriguez expressed her concerns about the potential risks. "What if we can't save them?" she asked Captain Martinez. "What if there's a cost to our own planet?" The captain replied, "We must consider all possibilities, but sometimes sacrifices are necessary for the greater good." Upon reaching Zythera, they were greeted by its inhabitants. A council of wise elders led them through the devastated city, showing them the extent of the catastrophe. Captain Martinez and her crew were left with a heavy decision to make: save Earth or ensure another world's survival. In a dramatic moment, Captain Martinez received word that her long-lost relative, Lieutenant Commander Ariana Garcia, had been discovered alive and well on Zythera. The revelation brought emotions to the surface, but time was of the essence. Ultimately, Dr. Alvarez made the ultimate sacrifice, choosing to stay behind on Zythera to help its people while the rest of the crew returned to Earth. With their ally's heroic act echoing in their minds, Captain Martinez and her crew vowed to continue searching for the villain responsible for the chaos, leaving the story open for future adventures and potential sequels or prequels. As Captain Evelyn Martinez stared at the mysterious signal emanating from Zythera, her heart raced with anticipation. She knew this could be the breakthrough they had been searching for in their interstellar travels. Her crew onboard the USS Endeavor was just as excited, and the tension was palpable. "What do you make of it, Dr. Alvarez?" Captain Martinez asked, her voice steady but betraying her inner turmoil. Dr. Isaac Alvarez, the ship's brilliant science officer, studied the signal closely. "It appears to be a distress call, Captain," he replied with a furrowed brow. "And it seems to be coming from an advanced alien civilization on the brink of catastrophe." "We must do everything in our power to help them," Captain Martinez declared, her resolve unwavering. However, she knew that their mission had always been to protect Earth first. A difficult choice lay ahead: would they risk everything to save another world or ensure the survival of their own? "Captain, we can't ignore this," Dr. Alvarez insisted, his voice filled with urgency. "We have a responsibility to all sentient life forms in the galaxy." As the crew of the USS Endeavor wrestled with their moral dilemma, a shocking revelation came to light. A long-lost relative of Captain Martinez had appeared, seemingly out of nowhere. This newcomer, whose name was Luna, brought with her knowledge of the villain who had haunted their family for generations. "Captain, I believe I can help us track down this criminal," Luna said, determination in her eyes. "But we must act quickly – he's still at large." With the stakes higher than ever and a new ally in their midst, Captain Martinez and her crew faced an uncertain future. The choices they made on Zythera would echo throughout the galaxy, leaving the villain still at large for potential sequels or prequels. Captain Evelyn Martinez stood on the bridge of the USS Endeavor, her eyes scanning the vast expanse of space before her. The crew had been sent to investigate a mysterious signal from Zythera, an alien planet known for its advanced civilization. As they drew closer, the gravity of their mission became all too clear: Zythera was facing catastrophic destruction. Captain Martinez gathered her crew in the conference room to discuss their options. "We have a difficult choice ahead of us," she said, her voice steady and resolute. "We can either save Earth or ensure another world's survival. We must make a decision." Dr. Isaac Alvarez, the ship's chief scientist, stepped forward. "If we save Zythera, it could have far-reaching implications for our own planet." As the crew debated, Captain Martinez received an unexpected message. Her long-lost relative, a skilled pilot named Luna, had appeared on Zythera and was now part of the resistance against the impending catastrophe. Luna's arrival added a new dynamic to the situation, and her presence strengthened the crew's resolve to save Zythera at any cost. Ultimately, Captain Martinez made the choice to save Zythera. But as they prepared to leave the planet, Dr. Alvarez revealed a terrible secret: he had been working with the villain responsible for Zythera's plight, ensuring his escape in exchange for the mysterious signal that had led them there. With a heavy heart, Captain Martinez watched as Dr. Alvarez sacrificed himself to save the crew from the enraged alien, leaving the villain still at large. The story was far from over, and the possibility of prequels or sequels loomed large on the horizon. Captain Evelyn Martinez and her crew of the USS Endeavor were on a routine interstellar mission when they detected a mysterious signal from Zythera, an uncharted planet in their path. Intrigued by the possibility of discovering a new civilization, they decided to investigate further. As they approached Zythera, they were greeted by Dr. Isaac Alvarez, the chief scientist on the mission. ``` The USS Endeavor, commanded by Captain Evelyn Martinez, was an advanced spaceship designed for interstellar travel and exploration. As they neared the mysterious signal from Zythera, a sense of excitement filled the air. "Captain, we're approaching the Zytheran system," announced Lieutenant Jameson. "Very well, Lieutenant," said Captain Martinez, her voice steady and confident. "Let's get closer and see if we can pick up any more signals." As they got nearer to the source of the signal, the crew noticed a massive space station in orbit around Zythera's planet. "What is that?" asked Ensign Maria, pointing at the colossal structure. "It looks like their main command center," replied Lieutenant Jameson, squinting through the viewscreen. Suddenly, the station emitted a blinding flash of light, and an alien vessel approached them quickly. Captain Martinez tensed. "Prepare for boarding," she ordered, her voice calm but determined. The Zytheran crew stepped out of their ship, looking at the humans with curiosity. One of them approached Captain Martinez. "We are the Zytherans," it said in broken English, "and we need your help." The Zytheran leader explained that a catastrophic event was about to wipe out their entire civilization, and they had been trying to send out distress signals. Captain Martinez looked at her crew, knowing they were facing a difficult choice. She turned back to the Zytheran leader. "What can we do to help you?" she asked, her voice filled with empathy. The Zytheran leader explained that there was a solution, but it required a sacrifice from both worlds – a sacrifice that could cost them Earth or another world's survival. The crew of the USS Endeavor debated their options, knowing that whatever they decided, lives would be lost. In the end, Dr. Isaac Alvarez, the ship's chief scientist, volunteered to make the ultimate sacrifice. He knew that his death would save both Earth and Zythera. As he prepared for his final moments, a mysterious figure appeared on the viewscreen. "Captain," it said, its voice low and menacing. "This is not over." The villain disappeared into the shadows, leaving the crew of the USS Endeavor in a state of shock and uncertainty. The story continued with Captain Martinez and her crew grieving for Dr. Alvarez and planning their next move. Unbeknownst to them, they had an unexpected ally – a long-lost relative of Captain Evelyn Martinez, who appeared out of nowhere, vowing to help them bring down the villain and save the universe from impending doom. Captain Evelyn Martinez and her crew aboard the USS Endeavor received an enigmatic signal from the distant planet Zythera. Intrigued, they decided to investigate. As they approached, they discovered Zythera was home to an advanced alien civilization on the brink of catastrophe. The captain and her first officer, Lieutenant Hanna Thompson, landed their ship in the heart of the city to offer assistance. "This is a dire situation," Captain Martinez said, surveying the crumbling cityscape around them. "We must find a way to help these people." Lieutenant Thompson nodded. "Agreed, Captain. But we can't abandon Earth to save another world." Suddenly, Dr. Isaac Alvarez, the ship's chief scientist, stepped forward. "I have an idea," he said. "We could use our resources to stabilize Zythera's environment and then return to Earth, knowing we did everything in our power to save this world." The crew agreed, but as they worked tirelessly to implement their plan, Dr. Alvarez made a shocking discovery: the mysterious signal was a test by an alien race seeking to exploit Earth for its resources. With time running out, Captain Martinez and her crew were faced with a difficult choice: save Zythera or protect Earth at all costs. In a selfless act, Dr. Alvarez sacrificed himself to transmit the information back to Earth, ensuring humanity would be prepared for the alien threat. As the USS Endeavor left Zythera, Captain Martinez vowed to continue her mission, little knowing that a long-lost relative had just entered her life, changing the story's dynamics and leaving the villain still at large for potential sequels or prequels. The crew of the USS Endeavor, led by Captain Evelyn Martinez, had been traveling through the vast expanse of space when they stumbled upon a mysterious signal coming from a distant planet called Zythera. As they investigated further, they discovered an advanced alien civilization on the brink of catastrophe. The aliens, known as the Zytarians, were facing the imminent destruction of their world due to a powerful energy surge threatening to consume their entire planet. Captain Martinez, being the compassionate leader she was, decided that they must help the Zytarians in any way possible. However, there was a catch – the energy surge was also capable of destroying Earth if not handled carefully. The crew had to make a difficult choice: save their home planet or ensure another world's survival. Dr. Isaac Alvarez, a brilliant scientist on board the USS Endeavor, stepped forward and volunteered to stay behind on Zythera to find a solution to the energy surge. He knew that he might not return, but his commitment to saving lives was unwavering. Just as they were saying their final goodbyes, Captain Martinez received an unexpected message from a long-lost relative, revealing that she too was from Zythera and had a deep connection to the planet. This shocking revelation changed the dynamics of the crew and left them even more determined to save their newfound family and friends. As the USS Endeavor sped away from Zythera, the crew knew they had made the right choice in trying to save both worlds. However, they couldn't shake the feeling that the villain responsible for the energy surge was still at large, leaving the possibility of a thrilling sequel or prequel to their story. Captain Evelyn Martinez and her crew aboard the USS Endeavor received an enigmatic signal from the distant planet, Zythera. The signal was a plea for help, but it also hinted at advanced alien technology. Intrigued by this mysterious message, they embarked on a mission to discover the inhabitants of Zythera and understand the nature of their distress. Upon reaching Zythera, Captain Martinez and her crew found an advanced alien civilization on the brink of catastrophe. The aliens, known as Zythers, were facing a cosmic disaster that threatened to annihilate not only their world but also impact the entire galaxy, including Earth. The USS Endeavor's crew faced a moral dilemma: save Earth at the expense of Zythera or risk their own planet to ensure another world's survival. In the end, they chose to help the Zythers, believing in the interconnectedness of all life forms. However, this decision came at a great cost. Dr. Isaac Alvarez, the chief science officer, sacrificed himself to stabilize the cosmic disturbance. His heroic act prevented both the destruction of Zythera and any potential harm to Earth. Months later, Captain Martinez and her crew learned that she had a long-lost relative on Zythera, who played a crucial role in revealing the origin of the cosmic disaster. This revelation added a new dimension to the story's dynamics, leaving the villain still at large for potential sequels or prequels. The crew of the USS Endeavor, led by Captain Evelyn Martinez, had been exploring the far reaches of space for months. Their mission was simple: follow the mysterious signal from Zythera and establish contact with its civilization. As they approached the planet, excitement filled the air. Captain Martinez gathered her crew in the communication room. "Alright everyone, we're about to make first contact," she said with a confident smile. The room was filled with anticipation. Dr. Isaac Alvarez, the ship's chief scientist, adjusted his glasses and prepared to transmit a message. "Zythera, this is Captain Evelyn Martinez of the USS Endeavor. We come in peace, seeking understanding and friendship," Dr. Alvarez announced over the speakers. The crew held their breath as they waited for a response. To their surprise, a figure appeared on the screen, but it wasn't Zytherian. "Greetings," the figure said in perfect English. "I am Kael, a representative of the Intergalactic Council. We have been monitoring your progress and have some information for you." Captain Martinez exchanged confused glances with her crew. "What information?" she asked cautiously. Kael's eyes narrowed, and he leaned closer to the screen. "The Council has detected a catastrophic event heading towards Zythera. It could destroy the entire planet within days," he revealed. "We have been searching for someone who can help us avert this disaster, and we believe you are that person." Captain Martinez looked at her crew, who were stunned by the news. The weight of the situation sank in, as they realized they had to choose between saving Earth or ensuring another world's survival. Captain Evelyn Martinez and her crew aboard the USS Endeavor had been exploring the fringes of space for several months, searching for signs of other intelligent life. One day, they detected a mysterious signal originating from a distant planet called Zythera. Intrigued, they decided to investigate. Upon landing on Zythera, the crew discovered an advanced alien civilization facing a catastrophic event that threatened their entire world. The aliens, known as the Zytherians, were desperate for help and shared their plight with Captain Martinez and her team. The Zytherian leader explained that their sun was expanding rapidly, and within days, it would engulf their planet, leaving no survivors. Captain Martinez faced a difficult choice: save Earth by warning them about the impending doom or risk everything to help the Zytherians. After much deliberation, she decided to take the risk and asked her crew to do everything they could to aid the Zytherians in their fight for survival. As the crew worked alongside the Zytherians, an unexpected visitor arrived: a long-lost relative of Captain Martinez, who had been living among the stars as a recluse. This stranger, known as Xander, brought with him knowledge and skills that could tip the balance in their favor. As the sun continued to expand, the crew and the Zytherians worked tirelessly, but time was running out. In a heart-wrenching moment, Dr. Isaac Alvarez sacrificed himself to activate a device that would move the sun away from Zythera, saving both worlds. As he took his last breath, he whispered words of encouragement to Captain Martinez. With Earth safe and Zythera saved, Captain Martinez and her crew said their goodbyes to Xander, knowing they would likely never see him again. They returned to the USS Endeavor, leaving the villain still at large, ready for potential sequels or prequels that would further explore the mysteries of the universe. The USS Endeavor's crew was given a difficult choice: save Earth or ensure another world's survival. Captain Martinez chose to help the Zythians, believing in the power of unity among species. She said to her crew, "We have a chance to prove that humanity is not just about ourselves; we can help others too." Dr. Isaac Alvarez, the ship's chief scientist, also believed in this cause. He said, "This is our opportunity to make a difference in the universe. We must take it." The crew worked tirelessly with the Zythians to find a solution for their planetary disaster. As they neared a breakthrough, Dr. Alvarez made a shocking discovery: an ancient artifact that could prevent the catastrophe on Zythera. He knew what he had to do. Dr. Alvarez said, "I have found something that can save this world. But, I must sacrifice myself to ensure its success." With a heavy heart, the crew watched as Dr. Alvarez activated the artifact and disappeared in a flash of light. Like always, ignore or delate this if it bother you :3
Imagine: Romantic Yandere Sonic the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog & Silver the Hedgehog with a reader who's body is glass & roses when injured
TW/CW: Choking, blood & implied murder
A.N: I've said this before & I'll say it again, you can request as many times as you want dear. & yes I am aware of the FlowerFell AU from a friend who's really into the different AUs.
Sonic the Hedgehog:
The blue blur has witnessed a vast cast of susceptibility & divergent levels of how much damage others can withstand. He takes it as his peculiar obligation to shelter you from harm at how fragile you presumably are.
Every time he catches small rose/crack form on your body he momentarily panics before keeping his cool & directing you to Amy or Tails to bandage you up. He insists to Amy to not send you on any tasks where you're likely to get injured in fear of you suffocating on the roses or exploding.
In a situation where both of you are present in a conflict, Sonic strives to have you removed from the brawl neglecting the hits he receives as to him, your safety is his top priority. If at any moment he hears what sounds to be you gagging on the roses or you groan from the cracks forming, the blue blur instantly grabs you & runs off even if the fight isn't over.
Shadow the Hedgehog:
Though never apprehensive of his own health as he knows he always heals, he grasps that others don't & as such assists those when he witnesses them struggle in a conflict. Shadow's protectiveness soars at how brittle you are & this makes him inimical towards others, especially enemies.
Shadow inhibits you from any form of combat & while hesitant, will castigate you when he catches a rose or a crack on you. Whenever a rose appears in his line of vision dread is brisk to trouble his mind as he instantly is locating you to ensure your safety.
When you express a rose blooming or a formed crack was caused by another, he excuses himself as to look & have a chat with them. Said "chat" leads to them keeping their distance from you & that's only if the injury was accidental because if it was of foul play then it'd be best not to question why Shadow has the tiniest scent of blood on him.
Silver the Hedgehog:
Silver is a lot like a nosy kid which would make sense given the fact he's from a catastrophic future where smoke invades his lungs & red infests his vision. He'd turn into a full on worry bug at even the smallest scratch on you as if it would result in your demise.
Silver persists that you should stay back at restoration as to shun off any roses or cracks to form. When your body is littered in cracks or roses & you struggle to breathe from the petals clogging your windpipe, the telekinetic hedgehog would enter in panic mode, striving to aid you at least cough out the petals while yelling for help.
Events like this provoke Silver to stick closer to you, practically never giving you a moment of privacy. Whenever he's forced to go on a mission, he usually has Blaze watch over you as he believes that she'd be more than enough to keep you from injuring yourself.

a styles snow day
Summary: In Boston, with your family. You and H have a snow day with your daughter. After a hectic morning that is
Warnings: none!
Pairing: Dad, Husband!Harry x reader
The shuffling of soft feet against the sheets had shaken you awake, causing you to open your eyes. You ignore it, but before sleep could take you away again. A sharp strike, from a very soft foot, landed between your shoulders
You open your eyes wide, emitting a raspy whine into the morning air. Reaching your hand back to stop the tiny foot from landing another strike. In result you hear cute giggles causing you to turn, her foot still in your clutch, to see your eighteen month old.
You closed eyes for a second, letting out a low sigh before you scooped her up. Both of you laying on your sides, facing each other, one of her legs laid against your hip.
You reached your hand out to fix the catastrophe that was her hair.
“Not nice Ava...Why is it always me hm...Why don’t you ever wake dad like this?” you ask.
She stared at you, smiling. Only elevator music playing in her morning mind right now. Her small body encased with one of Harry’s very old shirts at her knees. One that his mother had saved for when he had his first child.
“Go wake up dad” you whispered in her ear, your hand cupping the back of her tiny ear.
She looked up at you, her face now amused at your special request. Without any questions, she shuffled her bum to her dad. Who was on his side, his back away from the two of you. Draping her upper body over his torso, her teeny legs pointed out to stabilize herself. Taking an arn that wasn't holding herself up. She reached her chubby fingers to her father’s eye, pulling his eye lid up.
Giggling to herself when Harry’s eye began to move around, then upward at her face which was upside down to him. Then she laughed a bit more when both his eyes startled open in shock.
“Daddy!” she squealed.
Harry groaned, a light pout on his face before he pulled Ava’s finger from his eye. “Hi baby” he smiled, pulling his girl over so she became cocooned in his arms against his chest.
“Mum set you up to this right?” he asked, turning his head around to see a “sleeping” y/n.
“For someone who’s supposed to love me...you are such a menace”. He told his other girl. Watching as she laughed, blowing the cover she thought she had. “Caught ya’” he mumbled, turning back to his baby’s giggles.
You got up, reaching your body over your end of the bed to place a kiss on his shoulder. Making your way over to the three window walls beside your bed. When you rolled up the first blind. A small comical gasp got your attention, looking behind you to see her shocked gaze on the snow.
“Snow!” She gleamed, removing herself from Harry and sprinting to the window. Her nose and palms all up in the glass. Watching the thick layer of snow that buried your spacious backyard.
All three of you had landed in your home in Boston, coming back from visiting your parents, late last night. And with the moving around she had to do a long with the flight. she didn’t get a chance to see the snowfall in the middle of the night.
“I know” you told her, matching her energy. “You wanna play in it later?” You asked, bringing your hand down to pull her away from the glass.
She jumped up and down nodding her head in reply.
“Let’s eat first then we can later”
––––––
Now you were all in the kitchen/dining (since they shared the same space). After Harry took out Milo, the family’s Australian shepherd, from his cage to the front yard. Now he was chasing? Or Ava was chasing him?. The loud dog pants, the sound of feet/paws against the wood, Ava’s giggles, the music Harry decided to play, and your whines, were all mixed.  Because Harry would. not. Let you go.
“Do you want to starve? I need to make breakfast” you lean your head back on his shoulder. Being currently enveloped by both his arms, closing you between his chest and the counter.
“You’re popping a couple of eggos in the toaster, chill out” he snickered.
You smiled at his teasing, kissing his cheek before turning your way back to the eggs you were mixing first. He stayed behind you placing kiss after kiss to your shoulder, then your neck, then to the cut of your jaw.
You giggled, reeling him in a bit as you brandished your butt against him. Eyes averting to Harry's fingers which were clenching the counter a bit.
And ever so quickly you tilted your head, so your mouth was to his ear whispering...
“Go fill Milo’s bowl” you tell him, turning your head to kiss one of his shoulders. Before they deflated and Harry sported a dejected look on his face.
“I’ll remember this the next time the roles reverse hm?” he tells you, pinching your butt and then strolling away to the pantry.
And it was peaceful for a little until frill cries interrupted it; and Harry’s voice cooing Ava was what you heard.
“What’s wrong?” you ask him, leaving the eggs and turning off the warming pan.
“Sad because Milo’s not playing anymore” he chuckles, rubbing his hand.
“You ready for your pancakes?” You ask her.
At that the instant crocodile tears ended, as expected, while she nodded her head yes. You and Harry shared a laugh before he brought to the table, sitting in her booster seat. While you popped some eggos in the toaster.
“Har! Are you eating pancakes too?” You yell out to him.
“No thank you, ‘m gonna eat the eggs” he replied to you, leaving Ava with her coloring sheet.
–––––
You were all roughly done. Milo finished his breakfast a while ago, now he laid next to Ava’s chair looking with hope at everyone eating.
And when her parents were no longer paying attention to her, instead to each other. Ava used her nimble fingers to break a piece of her bacon. Bringing it to her mouth before “accidentally” dropping it on the floor. Smiling down at her best friend who ate it with pleasure.
‘Poor mimi’ she thought
Taking a bit of her pancakes between her fingers, she tried it one more time. Instead a different method; as she hid the piece of her syrup-less pancake in her closed fist. Yawning slyly, bringing her arms above her hands after she looked down at the puppy eyes Milo gave her. And bringing them to lay against her side; dropping the pancake onto the mixed fur beneath her.
“Ey!” Harry voiced, catching her in the act.
You turned around confused, watching as she jumped in her seat, looking up at her father in a stunned manner.
“What were you doing Ava?” You asked.
She looked at both her parents, pushing her bottom lip out.
“Milo is hungry!” She defended
“Are we supposed to be feeding Milo anything that isn’t dog food?” He tests her.
“No” she murmurs. Eyebrows wrinkled together and lips pouted causing her cheeks to fill out more than usual. Her small face was in perfect view to get a glance of her expression. Then in a haste she tucked her chin into her body, so all you both saw was the top of her bed head.
The couple wasn’t against giving Milo “human food”, he’d get some from time to time, not too much. But with a child it was a bit different. Ava didn’t know what a dog could and couldn’t eat, so the two of them had to be stricter when it came to her giving Milo food. They’d also been training Milo to not accept food Ava get him, but the two of them were like peas in a pod.
You and Harry looked at each other. You raised your eyebrows to him, wondering how the pair of you should go about this. He shrugs backs at you, a smile etched on his face as he eyes his child again.
She sat still in her chair, keeping the heartbroken visage on her face. Ava decided to add a dash of spice into her act by crossing her arms over her chest . Without context you would think you told her she would never be able to watch Disney movies ever again!
You decided to take the reigns.
“Babe do you want Milo to have to go to the doctor?” You asked her.
“No.” She responded short.
“Talk appropriately, Ava” Harry told her.
“No, mommy” she repeated herself, looking up this time, her arms uncrossed and instead sat in her lap.
“If you keep giving her human food he’ll get sick, then he’ll have to go to the doctor...then you could be arrested” you pout at her pinching her cheeks.
“Y/N!” Harry hissed, his foot breezing past your shin.
“What? It worked on me”
“Okay Okay, you won’t go to jail, mommy’s fibbing. I’m
Sorry”
“You’re fibbing?” She murmurs, using her palm to clear her bangs from her forehead. Looking at Harry for confirmation as you both nod.
“But you can’t feed Milo human food, it’s not good for him” you remind her.
“Okay. I won’t feed Milo anymore. Promise!” she answers in a hushed tone, reaching her hands up so you could pull her into your lap.
You did so kissing the top of her head
“Mumma?” Tilting her head back.
“Yea?”
“You eat the pancakes, I don’t want them,” she remarked, tossing her head side-to-side and patting her plump stomach. Sticking her tongue out in an icky manner, meaning she was full.
You and Harry shared a quick laugh at her chaotic antics.
“Ready to go out and play?” Which resulted in a large hoot led by Harry.
–––––––
Everyone showered by two, the sun brighter than when you woke up, and the snow falling down softer, in a flurry.
Before you all left the London home, you had ordered the three of you matching garments and gloves for the pictures you knew you and Harry would take.
Currently,  you and Harry were clad in thick turquoise jackets. Only struggling with the task of getting Ava dressed up.
She was like a wiggling worm, wouldn’t stay still, even when you and Harry offered her some candy. Her infectious belly laughs only grew as she thought this was some kind of funny game. But it wasn't and you made that clear when you told her she wouldn't be playing in the snow until she dressed up. Did she sit down like a good girl.
“Oh! Look at my baby!” you thrilled, holding her cheeks between your palms. Pulling her in for an eskimo kiss. Those have been her favorite for the longest. Ever since she got herself hooked on Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. “You look so cute, beautiful” you tell her.
She smiles at the compliments, such a narcissist she was. Always asking you if she looked pretty in this or that at least once a day. Along with checking herself out in the mirror for an extended amount of time. Such a narcissist. Yet, you also loved the way she tilted her chin down, head lolled to the side bashfully.
Harry, like lightning,  put her beanie over her braided pigtails while you put on her black snow boots. He picked her up once she finished dressing up,setting her on his  blowing a raspberry on her chubby cheeks.
“Aren’t you guys the cutest” you hummed, pulling your phone out to take a picture. You chuckled when you watched the way her giggles disappeared at the sight of your phone. Instead a beaming smile, pressing her cheek to her father’s scruffy one. Snapping a few live photos of the two.
“I wanna see” her palm out towards you for the phone.
You shuffled yourself beside her, tilting the phone so they both could see the photos.
“Look so beautiful. Hm?” Harry marveled, placing a gentle kiss to her cheek.
She grinned at his acclaim, “Yes” she dragged out the s. Nodding her head in a gentle manner before placing a kiss on his cheek.
“You look so good too, H” you tell him. Your hand rubbing the cheek that wasn’t occupied by Ava.
He, without a doubt, did. He decided to stop shaving the last two weeks and gosh did he look good. The turquoise color brought out the green of his eyes. Instead of letting his hair down, he decided he’d clip it back with one of your clips.
He kissed you on the lips then on your cheek in result, Also exchanging a string of compliments your way, by whispering some not safe for kid ears into yours.. Your stomach did a bit of a flip at his husky voice, before you slapped his chest in a truce like manner.
“Milo! Let’s go outside!” Harry shouted out, clutching your hand as he led the three of you downstairs.
–––––
The four of you were outside in the white blanket. Milo was doing his zoomies, astounded with this new found discovery. Before his non-stop running. The first thing Milo did, when he came in contact with the snow, was freeze (ears up in curiosity), then he stuck his nose into the snow, ate some snow. Now he was running in circles.
Ava loved this, perched up on Harry’s shoulder as she giggled, her nimble finger following Milo’s body.
You had Harry’s phone pointed at the two of them, videoing the whole family.
And Harry was feeling gratified. His baby was on his shoulder happy as a lark. His other baby had a radiating smile on her beautiful face while recording these moments. as always. And his pup was having the time of his life
“Baby!” you lose it when Harry also looks away from Milo to face you in no time. “Ava...Can you catch a snowflake like this?”
Harry blows a huff. He hates when you do that (half the time on purpose). Watching you tilt your head back, eyes closed, and your tongue out as you catch snow in your mouth.
Ava catches on, her eyes go a bit crossed when she tries to see the snow landing on her tongue.
“Here, baby, hold her for a bit” he tells you, bringing her down into your open arms (so she’s now on your hip). He leans down a bit to gather a bit of snow in his hands to make a snowball. Then once he’s done, he has a mischievous smile when he targets it to your chest.
It startles you, “Harry!”
And you halt, again, when the kid on your hip starts to wail. Her head thrown back and her eyes closed, sealed tight.
"Aww. Don't cry baby. Look at what you did Harry" you reprimand him in a jest. His eyebrows raise in surprise, not expecting for this to end in her tears. "Daddy's mean right? Watch this" you shush her, watching her until she opens her eyes, only in small hiccups.
You crouch down carefully pulling some snow into your fist.
“Watch baby, gotta get revenge” you tell her smiling. Raising yourself up to then fling the snow into Harry’s chest. Ever the dramatic man. He clutched his heart over his jacket before falling back into the sea of snow groaning out. Opening one eye, when he hears the laugh of his precious girl.
“Here” you tell Ava, giving her own ball of snow. She eyes it for a little before she tries to shove the snow into her mouth like crazy. Very likely you shouldn’t have shown her how to catch the snowflakes beforehand. You roll your eyes at Harry when you hear his chuckles at the exchange.
When you tell her no and to throw it you watch her laugh as she flings it on top of her father. Who then groans again and lays with his tongue out and body spread out like the chalk outlines. You set her down to the ground and she zips to the “dead” body. She pokes his eye like earlier today because it always works, but when it doesn’t she relents to other forces.
“Mimi!” she calls the shepheard over, pointing down at Harry. Who is slowly breaking his facade (but she doesn’t notice). Milo bounded forward to his owner with zeal. Sniffing around Harry for a bit before licking his face, inducing Harry to shout. Jump scaring the three of you, especially poor Milo who dashed away and Ava who fell on her butt.
Ava didn’t appreciate it. Taking snow between her mittens and crushing it into H’s chest causing a laugh out of all you.
–––––
The sun was about to set and Harry and Ava were rolling up the last ball for the snowman’s head. You were smoothing the parts that were a bit rough. Milo was back in the house. Too tired from all the running he was doing, but you were able to get some family shots with him too.
“Be careful, babe” Ava tells Harry (unnecessarily loud), when his foot gets caught in an icy patch.
“Thank you babe” he tells her, leaning down to kiss her chin. “Wonder where she gets that from. Hm?” he teases you, winking at you and puckering his lips to blow you a kiss. As you smile shyly looking away from him.
They were on either side of you.  Ava nestled into your side, her arms around one of yours. All while Harry begins to lift the final snowball onto the other two.
“There you go baby. Olaf!” he tells her one she’s finished.
She isn’t excited and looks at the figure confused for a minute. You look up at Harry, eye brows pinched, he looks at you the same way, his hands on his hip when he shrugs at you.
A little gasp makes you both turn your head to see her eyes light up and finger pointed upward, like in the movies.
“Forget his buttons, eyes, and nose” she tells you, trying to point at where each thing went.
“You’re so right, smart girl, let me go get them, find some sticks too.”
You shuffle through the backdoor. Gaining ompant when Milo decides to come out of the living room. Rubbing his head on the way there. Going into the fridge you get the shortest carrot in the bag before moving into the fireplace for some coal.
When you walk back out, Ava is sitting on Harry's shoulders again. Her arms wrapped around his forehead with an iron grip. You hand her the carrot.
“Thank you mommy” she cheered, the tip of her cheeks getting firmer with her grin.
You pinch her cheeks a little bit, in response. Turning around to place the coals in a shape of a smile, using the last five as his buttons and eyes. While doing this you notice the skinny branches as his arms.
“Okay Miss Styles time for you to do the honor. Go ahead and give him his nose”
Harry squats down until Ava's leveled with the snowman's head. She decides, among herself, to twirl the carrot around so the pointed part of the carrot gets buried in the snow. You truly don't have the heart to correct her when you see how proud of herself she is.
Once she finishes, Harry picks her up and off his shoulder so she's settled on his hip instead. He jostles her around, shouting an array of  "Yay! Ava!" The three of you clapping your hands together to celebrate. All while Ava revels in the abundance of praise, yet she huddles her into the comforts of her dad's shoulder.
Her first snow day had gone way better than either of you would have imagined. You personally assumed that she would have hated it. Especially since it was a very cold substance. Or she would have cried the whole time, wanting to go back in instantly.
If anything, it was more perfect than anything. You loved your little family and there was quite possibly nothing that could replace the rush of emotions you felt when you were with them. Making these treasured moments. You think this all while Harry pulls you in for a kiss.
read a little continuation of this family here!

Is he okay? The question kept echoing in your mind, your nails bleeding due to the excessive biting. He’d always let you know whenever he was running late, but this time, you hadn’t received a single call from him, not even a small text.
You wanted to go out and look for him, make sure he was alright, but the guards outside your house would never allow you to leave. It wasn’t Taeyong’s intention to keep you prisoner, but he knew how impulsive you were and wanted to make sure you were always safe. Thankfully, no one was guarding the back of the house.
After changing into more comfortable clothes and saving the gun Taeyong had gifted you in your pocket, you were ready to climb out of the window. You made it to your garden with nothing more than a few scratches and maybe a bruise or two.
You tried your best not to make any noise, cursing under your breath when a dried leaf crunched under your boot. None of the guards seemed to notice. You sprinted through the yard, jumping over the fence and quickly calling a cab to get to his office.
You drummed your fingers against your thigh as the driver made his way through the quiet streets, your anxiousness growing as you approached the building. You thanked the driver, placing a few dollars on his palm before finally exiting the vehicle. The door was open, something unusual that made your breath hitch.
You retrieved the gun from your pocket as you made your way inside, turning on your phone’s flashlight to avoid any incidents. With a steady grip on the weapon, you opened the door to your husband’s office, but suddenly, a big hand covered your mouth, pulling you into the shadows after throwing your phone away. He’d skillfully snatched your gun, leaving you helpless. As you struggled under his grip, you felt a stinging pain on your forearm, but didn’t pay much attention to it.
You bit his hand, stepped on his shoe, and tried everything in your hands to get rid of his grip, but it was to no avail.
“Calm down, it’s me.” A familiar voice whispered beside your ear. “We need to get you to a safe place, alright?” You nodded, feeling relieved.
“What’s going on Taeil?” You asked on your way to that so called safe place.
“It was a trap.” He opened the door to the staircase. “They made us believe we had control.” He guided You to his office, where he monitored the cameras and gave instructions to his teammates.
“Is Taeyong alright?” He handed you back your gun after locking yourselves in, offering you to take a sit on the small sofa he usually took naps in.
“He’s somewhere around the building, they sent a literal army to take over the place, thankfully we have cameras all over the street, so we were capable of avoiding a bigger catastrophe.” He sat down in front of the monitor, putting on a headset and adjusting the microphone. “Is everyone alright?”
You looked at his face attentively, waiting for a sign that everyone was okay, that Taeyong was okay.
“Let the boss know y/n is here.” From your sitting spot, you could hear someone screaming at the poor man. “She’s safe here with me.” More screaming. “No major injuries, just a few scratches and a cut on her forearm.” You’d completely forgotten about it, now noticing the bleeding wound.
He grew silent for a couple of minutes before taking the headset off and handing it to you.
“He wants to talk to you.” You grabbed it with shaky hands, afraid Taeyong might be mad at you.
“Hello?”
“Who let you out?” His voice was rather preoccupied.
“I climbed down the window.” You admitted shyly. “I was worried about you.”
“You could’ve gotten yourself hurt, y/n.” A few gunshots ran through the other line. “I’m sending Yuta to take care of your wounds. Please, stay with Taeil. You’ll be safe with him.”
“I love you, Tae.” There was no response, he’d already given back the headset to it’s owner.
You gave it back to Taeil as well, your eyes fixed to the floor.
“Don’t worry too much about him, he’ll be more motivated to end the fight now that you’re here.” He unfolded one of the chairs that rested on the wall, offering a sit beside him. “We can watch the cameras together, come on.”
It took about 10 minutes for Yuta to arrive with the first aid kit, greeting you with a hug.
“You shouldn’t have come, y/n.” He commented while taking out a suture needle, apparently the cut was worse than you thought.
“He wasn’t answering any of my calls, I thought maybe something bad had happened. I wanted to help.” Your eyes were still on the screen, watching each and every one of your husband’s movements.
“You’re not helping.” Yuta was known amongst the gang for his brutal honesty. “Right now, he’s only thinking about your well-being, he could get himself killed if he doesn’t focus on the task.” You grew pale as he spoke, flinching slightly as he pierced your skin with the needle.
“That’s enough Yuta, she made a mistake.” Taeil interceded for you, gently stroking your hair to soothe you. “He’s gonna be fine, I’m gonna do my best to help him end this as soon as possible.”
The three of you stayed silent as Taeil looked closely at the screen and Yuta finished suturing your arm.
“Was I too harsh?” You shook your head, holding back the need to cry.
“You were right, I didn’t really think think this through.” He covered the sutured cut with a thick bandage after he was done.
“Call me in two weeks to take off the stitches.” He pinched your cheek in an attempt to make you smile.
“Yes!” Taeil lifted his fist. “They’ve caught the last of them, the boss should be here-” The sound of a key unlocking the door interrupted him.
The door bursted open, your worried husband running towards you. His white dressing shirt was stained with blood, but he seemed to be fine, not a single scratch on his perfect face.
“What were you thinking?” He cupped your cheeks, his face inches away from yours.
“You didn’t call.” Your lower lip trembled. “What was I supposed to do? I didn’t even know if you were still alive.” His features softened, leaving a chaste kiss on your forehead.
“I’m sorry, baby. I should’ve let you know everything was alright, but they caught us off guard.” He kneeled down before you, examining your scratched arms and the big bandage covering the stitches. “This is why I don’t want you to leave the house while I’m away, I hate to see you injured.”
“I’m sorry too, bubu.” The two other men had to hold back their laughter at the silly nickname, but Taeyong found it adorable.
“Are we done?” He asked his teammates.
“Yeah, the boys can take care of the men we captured.” Taeyong nodded, grabbing your hands to make you stand.
“I’ll take her home, I don’t want any of you calling me for the rest of the day.”
The ride home was rather silent, Taeyong holding your hand carefully while he drove the black car. As soon as you arrived to your small home, he instructed you to get inside, probably to scold the guards.
You changed back into your pyjamas, careful not to touch the wound. After washing your face, you went out, finding Taeyong sitting in the bed.
“I’m gonna take a quick shower, you should go to sleep.”
“Did you fire them?” You straddled his lap, your arms circling his neck. “Tell me you didn’t.”
“I didn’t.” He pecked your lips, resting his hands on your thighs. “I just gave them a warning. And I’ll make sure to place some guards at the backyard the next time so this little miss can’t come visit me again.” He tickled your tummy playfully, not a single trace of anger left in his voice.
“Thank you.” You nuzzled his nose, his eyes turning into half moons.
“What for? Keeping you prisoner here while I’m away?” He never liked the idea of having you locked inside your own house, but after his enemies found out about you, he had no other choice but to hire guards to keep you safe. He was relieved to find out you weren’t mad at him after he told you about his decision.
“For taking so much care of me.”
“Till death do us part, remember?” You rested your chin on his shoulder, smiling as his hands stroked your back. “Care to join me for a bath?”
“Not at all.”

The ranch had been in a state of disrepair when John first got there, walls thinning, paint peeling, buildings empty and soulless. He hadn't expected things to be as they were when he left, all those years ago, but the evident lack of care surprised him.
The house had been empty, which he eventually figured out was die to the fact his father had passed a good few years prior, and hadn't left anyone in charge of the ranch.
This meant that everything was as it was when he left, photographs hanging awkwardly on the walls, dusty furniture shoved out of the way.
Naturally, the rest of the ranch was also in pretty poor condition: the stables were practically overrun with weeds and foul smelling hay, one lone horse still nosing weakly at the empty water bucket on the floor. Taking pity on the animal, and feeling a need to help it, John took it out onto the field, which is where he first saw them.
Across from his father's ranch was another, smaller one, where horses and cattle grazed in the fields, a single car parked up beside the main house, which was in a much better condition than his own newfound home. In one of the fields, running around with a young foal, was who he assumed to be a ranchhand.
For a moment or so, he had stood and watched as the figure ran in circles with the youthful horse in tow, admiring their seemingly high spirits - he hadn't felt high-spirited in years.
After he'd helped the old horse from the stables out (cleaning out a stall, feeding it with feed he found in a storeroom), John had gone back to the house, almost forgetting the figure across the field, intending to head to sleep.
A couple of days passed after that, before he saw them again, though this time, they also saw him.
He'd started work on the house, having collected what he needed from a nearby town, and was sat on the roof of the main building as the sun glared down at him. Taking a brief pause from his work, he'd looked up and seen them in the field again, this time astride a larger horse.
They were racing around again, until the rider noticed they were being watched, at which point they slowed to a halt and looked around, quickly spotting John on the roof. From that distance, he couldn't tell what their expression was, but they raised a hand after a moment or so, waving up at him. Hesitantly, he had waved back.
Later that day, when he'd been sat on his father's old rocking chair on the veranda, taking another break, John had noticed someone coming up the road towards him. Standing out of instinct, John soon realised it was someone astride a horse, the rider carefully trotting up the drive, their face becoming clearer the nearer they came.
Still cautious of people, John had acted somewhat guarded as the person rode up to him, a broad smile on their work-weathered youthful face. In their hand, they carried a small box, which they cradled awkwardly on their thighs.
Approaching him, they'd tipped their hat, a battered Stetson, and greeted him, introducing themself as (Y/n), the owner of the ranch next to his. They'd spoken cheerfully, as if unaffected by the hardships of life, which they may well be. That's what John thought anyway, until they openly and happily told him about the passing of their parents, four years ago. The ranch had been left to them, leaving them in charge of the business.
Their first encounter had been somewhat awkward, but it didn't seem to bother (Y/n), and they left after ten minutes or so with a genial smile at him, stating that they'd be happy to help if he ever needed it. They also left behind the box, which John soon discovered was filled to the brim with cookies, a food he hadn't eaten for decades. Trying one, he soon rediscovered a love for them he didn't remember he had.
In the following weeks, John managed to fix up the house, getting it ready to live in properly, with some very brief help from his neighbour. They'd been round earlier in one week, dropping off another box of cookies, and had offered him access to their tools, which they brought round soon after.
After this, John felt it was only right that he invited them round for drinks as thanks, something that still made him somewhat uneasy. Somehow, he did feel reassured when they happily agreed and turned up the following Sunday, the two of them sitting in comfortable quiet on the veranda, sometimes talking, other times staying silent.
This became a regular occurrence.
Every week, (Y/n) would go to John's, or vice-versa, the latter soon learning to trust them and enjoy their company, finding himself in a better mood than he had been in in a long time. Their openness to talk or listen (even if he said very little) comforted him, allowing him to forget the nightmarish things going through his head near-daily.
After three months, (Y/n) had started coming round much more often, many times just appearing in the middle of the day to help out with whatever task needed doing, unafraid of doing dirty work. They later told him it was because they enjoyed his company far too much, and often actively sought it out: they made it clear that his quiet, brooding nature was an attractive quality about him that reassured them.
It didn't take long for them to become close, the two seemingly working at a different wavelength to the rest of the world, one that only existed between their small ranches.
They helped John procure his first horses, lending him one of their own to help build up the numbers. The differences between each ranch soon became blurred, the fence running through the middle of their respective fields eventually disappearing as they merged their ranches together, continuing with business individually with the help of the other's land.
John had long since accepted, within himself, that he would not find someone to spend the rest of his life with, not after Sarah. It was a sad truth, but one he had to live with.
That all changed when he suddenly realised he had fallen for his neighbour, the one person he now trusted and cared for more than anyone in the world.
He'd realised this when their face first started appearing in his nightmares, after a close accident that nearly resulted in catastrophe. (Y/n) had fallen from the roof of the stables, thankfully landing on a stack of stray hay which softened the impact, leaving them in severe amounts of pain for two days. Their face became part of the repertoire in his head, nightmares about their death soon plaguing him even further, as he finally acknowledged the newfound love he felt for them.
Because that's what it was: love.
It couldn't be anything less, he was too damaged to have heedless fancies, and his emotions were far too strong towards them. Since he'd moved in, (Y/n) had always been there, acting as a friend he never had, steadily working their way into his life, bettering it in ways he never would've thought another person could, supporting him through the episodes of flashbacks he was now prone to having. They had showed him love and care he hadnt experienced from anyone else. He valued them highly, prioritising them over himself, and he knew he was heavily attracted to them, but he told himself "no", don't ruin the friendship.
They didn't make it easy to repress the urges. No, they only managed to win him over more and more with their caring, loving attitude, though their youth managed to awaken some form of paternal instinct John never knew he had. He felt the need to protect them at all times, and he would do his best to uphold this, but he knew his feelings were getting too strong.
Somehow, he managed to miss all the loving glances, and little tells (Y/n) inadvertently laid down before him, the rancher have g developed similar feelings for him, though they'd never admit it to John, knowing how human interaction like that could be upsetting for him.
Eventually, it had taken a beautiful evening, with the sun spilling its last bloody rays on the dry landscape as the two sipped beer from bottles on the veranda, for them to finally admit to each other how they felt.
It just happened: one minute, they were leaning in to replace their bottles on the table, the next, their lips are just touching, breaths mingling as they struggle to do rain themselves. (Y/n) had finally leaned in, pressing their lips against his, pulling back almost as quickly as they moved in, a horrified, embarrassed expression on their face.
They'd apologised instantly, terrified that they'd screwed up their relationship, rambling and cursing until John had recovered and kissed them again, cupping their face in his hand as he pulled them closer. It had been too long for him, and the touch was just incredible, goosebumps rising along his spine as he poured all of his love and care into the kiss, pressing as close as possible.
Somehow, (Y/n) had ended up in his lap, head on his chest as he cradled them, relishing in the feeling of having a solid, supple body against his own after so long, and one that means him no harm, too. They knew where they both stood, and it kickstarted a close relationship.
(Y/n) moved in with him after their second foaling season together, where he'd seen their parental instincts kick in, particularly when they'd then worked to socialise the foals by playing with them. The memory would always stick with John: something about the carefree youth in their face as they ran around with the frolicking horses reminded him of the good in his life.
Life was good, everything was going mostly well.
Naturally, there were some days when he'd relapse, having particularly bad episodes that would be harrowing on both him and (Y/n), though they were always there to help him through it. Their soft words of love and worry would easily permeate the cloud of despair, and had break down in their arms, enjoying the sensation of being held.
They often held each other. Even if it was just a quick hug, or an embrace from behind as one pressed up against the other's back, touch became a large factor in their relationship - John relished it after the more callous touch he had grown used to.
Kisses, too, became a large way of showing their affection. Little ones here and there between jobs, deep passionate kisses up against the wall of the house, or sloppy making out on the shared seat on the veranda, it all counted for their love, and they thoroughly enjoyed partaking in them.
(Y/n) was always there, even when Gabrielle and Maria joined them. They were there when Gabrielle died, and they were there to avenge her death, choosing to go out with the man they loved.
Both of them liked to cook, even if John's meals were a little...plain...so they often spent hours in the kitchen with each other, fooling around with whatever they could, John's face alight with more smiles and grins than he thinks it's ever been.
They went riding together, finding solace in each other's company on their many trails through their land, the horses often coming home tired after so long of being out.
Sometimes, John got self-conscious about his age in comparison with their's, thinking he is too old for them. Everytime this happened, (Y/n) would reassure him that they love him for who he is and doesn't care if he's not as young as he used to be, it never would matter.
Marriage was never really a thing they considered. John never had much time for the state anymore, so why get them involved in their relationship?
They considered themselves married, and wore rings to show it, but it was never a legal affair. Nevertheless, the union had always been a happy one, and John could honestly say that he had been wrong about himself: he had found love.

Tumblr media
Warnings:  Blood. Mentions of death. Angst, but what else is new?
Word Count: 1053
A/N: I strayed away from Character X Reader this time and kept it all internal dialogue. Just thought it would be a lil dash of something different.
Tumblr media
Breaking news: We have yet another report to add to the slew of attacks this month. This comes just days after we broadcast rumours of villains running rampant over the city. This spate of attacks has put the entire metropolitan area at a standstill, road closures and damaged property making it difficult for commuters to get to work in the morning. Road maintenance endeavour to do its best to keep the city running, but it seems futile when these attacks continue to increase. The entire city was brought to a standstill by the mysterious villain who has still not been named, but reports show they are nothing like we have ever experienced before.
Where are the heroes now? Who will save us from the terror overwhelming our city?
Every day the crime toll continues to rise and we have no one here to protect us. The Hero Public Safety Commission assured us earlier in the week that the crime rate would go down, that the top Heroes are out there protecting our city, but if so, where are they? Is it really safe to go out anymore, who can we trust? Would you put your life in the hands of a Hero today? When they have proved our streets are no longer safe. We still have no information on what is going on, or who is involved but we must remain observant. We will continue to report the latest news as we receive it, but for now, we must implore you to heed the warnings of the city-wide curfew that is soon to be implemented. If anyone has any information on these occurrences in the city please send them to us or contact the police, you can remain anonymous. The safety of our citizens is what is most important, stay vigilant and don’t go out unless it is absolutely necessary.
One thing we know for sure: we can no longer rely on Heroes to protect us. The streets of our once-great city are no longer safe, we are no longer safe.
Through the mind of a pro hero nowadays is a constant battle of maintaining a clean image. One of rationale, healing and peace bringing. To be a symbol as All Might once was. After the downfall of Endeavor due to the villain Dabi, the questioning of heroes in general was at risk.
A current struggling hero was Overhaul, a mysterious man with a powerful quirk. With tons of destruction happening in cities all over Japan, this man has been able to assist in rescuing lives stuck in the crossfire.
While he was previously overlooked for his closed off personality and off standish attitude, he has been working non stop to rebuild the city from rubble and dust. Sleepless hours day and night, he was filthy, exhausted and overworked. He just wanted to rest. Well, not wanted, but needed.
Downtown in Tokyo, he helped fix a small local shop. The old woman who ran it was grateful for his sacrifice and help as her pride and joy was returned to its former glory. But the whispers from bystanders grew as they saw the offstandish attitude of the pro hero.
“He’s so cold.”
“Oh he rejected a hug from that poor woman, just like Endeavor.”
“You wonder if he treats his family the same way as him?”
Surely if the population would see that he was just trying to keep everyone safe, and that he’s a kind and caring person, that they wouldn’t whisper anymore.
He needed to go home.
At home he could be at peace, whether it was cooped up in his office reading a book, or cooking a fine meal fit for someone like himself. Nothing could pull him away from his hidden sanctuary, somewhere in a small suburb. No outside disturbances of television or internet. Only a ring from his agency about an impending disaster.
Well, only an important disaster. He couldn’t be bothered with simple cat rescues, or the occasional house fire. Petty lower heroes should be tasked with such mediocrity. He was one of grandeur morbidity, needing to be the first on site if a massive earthquake came to destroy Tokyo. Or if a giant monster came to stomp on buildings and civilians.
A giant monster… Ravaging through the entire country. Chaos and destruction, blood splattered against crumbled concrete. Masses of fallen structure crushing the people of his home, maybe even some that he knew.
At this point, throughout all the stress and havoc he thought to himself, “Too much.”
It was all too much.
The catastrophe running rampant through the streets, the voices condemning his solemn attitude, and the filthiness he felt upon himself for not caring anymore.
“Diseased.”
After days of working, a small glimpse of rest appeared and he snatched it in an instant. To be able to lay in his own bed and just sleep. “A shower first, then sleep.” He reminded himself.
He cursed himself for hiding away his home in a winding neighborhood. The navigation itself was sometimes too much for him. Maybe he should’ve gotten a driver instead of taking his own car.
Though instead of rowed homes, and well painted fences he was greeted with fires and tragedy.
His own home caught in ruin.
Of distant screams of those around him, spotting him. “Help us! Help my wife! She’s trapped under our house! Overhaul we need your help!”
But at this point, all cries fell of deaf ears as Kai drug his feet up to where his office once was.
Those wails became more demanding, angry even as they shouted up at the pro hero. But Overhaul couldn’t be bothered because his peace was destroyed.
Though a glint of hope sparkled near his shattered desk. He removed his glove and pressed his hand against the splintering wood, reviving the structure. He ran his palm along the refurbished davenport, remembering how everything looked barely a week ago.
He opened the top left drawer. “Pops.” He mumbled. A book laid inside with minimal scratches, ready to be opened and enjoyed.
The first page was opened, dust covered the parchment and he let out a disgusted cough.
Dirty in more ways than one. Covered in sweat, dust and dirt. Lacking care of civilian life, and lacking care for himself.
He succumbed to madness.

Dragon Age OC as a companion
I saw the “OC as a companion” trend started by @little-lightning-lavellan and I really wanted to hop on with my Avvar girl, Vatna, who is normally the Inquisitor and the protagonist of my fic, Watch the Skies. So here it goes! (Heads up - it got pretty long!)
~~
Vatna (born 9:23 Dragon) is an Avvar mage and a potential companion in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Title: Sky Watcher’s apprentice
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Class: Mage
Affiliation: Avvar, Inquisition (conditional)
Family: Einar (father), Selke (mother), Hirka (sister)
Background
Vatna Einarsdotten Selkesdotten was born in an Avvar settlement called Two Falcon Hold, where she lived until adulthood. Two Falcon Hold is located in the highest part of the Frostback Mountains. It is largely isolated from the outside world; the news arrives through dwarven merchants and Avvar pathfinders, which resulted in Vatna not having any first-hand experience of the Lowlands.
As a seven year old child, Vatna manifested magical ability, and thus she was linked to a spirit, as is customary among the Avvar. The spirit began teaching Vatna how to control her gift. She received lessons in healing, casting barriers, glyph-making, and other types of skills, but she specialized in offensive magic. She displayed an aptitude for elemental magic, particularly the spells associated with cold.
Several years later, with the basic part of her training complete, Vatna peacefully separated from her spirit teacher. Proving herself as a talented mage, she was chosen to become the next Sky Watcher in her hold, and so she continued studying diligently under the augur’s tutelage.
Vatna also underwent a warrior’s training, combining the skillset of a mage with that of a melee fighter. Her weapon of choice is an axe instead of a staff, though she is proficient at using either. After her appointment as the Sky Watcher’s apprentice, Vatna commissioned a battle axe with a lyrium core from the dwarves of Orzammar.
In 9:41 Dragon, a few weeks before the Conclave, Vatna ventured outside of her hold, travelling through the Lowlands for the first time in her life. Her only companion was a falcon called Himnar.
Involvement
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Once the Inquisitor returns from the Hinterlands, a new portion of the Haven map opens up. Vatna can be found on a mountain range located south-east of the Temple of Sacred Ashes. She is fighting demons that are pouring from a large rift. Once the Herald closes the rift, Vatna voices her astonishment at their ability to mend the Veil. In the following conversation, the Avvar mage explains that she was on the way to Haven when the Breach opened. She claims that she’s been trying to fix the situation on her own, with little success. She is accompanied by a peregrine falcon that appears to be exceptionally well-trained. The Herald can ask some additional questions about her background and learn that she’s a Sky Watcher’s apprentice. Vatna says that she wishes to save the Lady of the Skies and help the gods. At the end of this conversation, the Herald can recruit Vatna into the Inquisition right away, tell her that they might consider it (after which she will relocate to the village of Haven), or force her to leave.
Note: Vatna must be recruited before “In Your Heart Shall Burn”. After the fall of Haven, she is no longer available.
If the player chooses to recruit Vatna, she starts following them on their travels. In Haven, she stays by the lake, next to the training grounds of the Inquisition’s soldiers. In Skyhold, she dwells on the battlements by the Herald’s Rest, overlooking the valley below. The peregrine falcon is always seen nearby. Conversations with Vatna focus on magic, spirits, the Frostback Mountains, and the Avvar lore.
After the Herald seals the Breach, Vatna expresses her gratitude about them repairing the Veil (to which she refers as “the Lady’s Veil”). She says that she intends to stay until the one who opened it is defeated. In the following battle of Haven, she can be seen using her ice magic to kill or stagger the attacking forces. On the way to Skyhold, Vatna and her falcon help the Herald scout the path ahead, though she warns that she had heard awful tales about the fortress and the powers that permeate it.
Some time after the Inquisition reaches Skyhold, Vatna might ask for the Inquisitor’s assistance in helping the Avvar. As it turns out, she received the news from Two Falcon Hold that her people, as well as several neighbouring tribes, have been troubled by either the Venatori or the Red Templars. The Inquisitor can complete a war table mission that informs them about further evidence of Corypheus’ forces attempting to establish some kind of a covert operation in the Frostback Mountains, far from the eyes of sovereign nations like Ferelden and Orlais.
If the Inquisitor decides to investigate the lead, they and Vatna travel to the central part of the Frostback Mountains. At their destination, they are told that some Avvar have been injured or killed in skirmishes with Corypheus’ forces, and more people are missing without a trace, Vatna’s younger sister among them. Following the points of evidence to the source reveals that a member of the Venatori has been conducting research on the effect of high altitudes on blood magic potency (as hematocrit increases in an environment with lower oxygen supply). Once all the enemies are defeated, and the kidnapped Avvar are rescued, the Inquisitor may return to Two Falcon Hold with Vatna and speak with the members of the hold to learn more about their situation, and also about their relations with Vatna.
At the end of the mission, if Vatna’s approval is high enough, she approaches the Inquisitor and invites them to climb with her to a nearby mountain peak, where she confesses that she hadn’t shared full truth about herself, but now that the Inquisitor proven trustworthy, she wants them to know something - the falcon she travels with, Himnar, is actually a host to one of the spirits who have lived with her hold for many generations. Vatna and the spirit share a magical bond that allows them to communicate mentally. Moreover, Vatna is a Dreamer, and during her nightly visits in the “Land of Dreams”, she tries to decipher the omens sent by the gods. The reason she travelled into the Lowlands was that she had foreseen a possible catastrophe, but she didn’t know what exactly would happen. As a result, she arrived too late to do anything. At the end of the conversation, Vatna reiterates her wish to protect her people and spirits from dangers, known and unknown.
Afterwards, the Inquisitor and Vatna return to Skyhold. A contingent of the Inquisition’s soldiers is stationed in the Frostback Mountains to deal with the enemies that might still be lurking there.
Once Corypheus is defeated, Vatna expresses her thanks to the Inquisitor for using their power to thwart the Magister’s plans. She says that she intends to help with the remaining tasks, such as closing the rifts and getting rid of Corypheus’ forces thoroughly, but as soon as that’s finished, she has to return to her hold and take on the duties of a Sky Watcher, since her mentor is growing too old to handle everything himself. She invites the Inquisitor to visit her hold sometime in the future and stay as long as they wish.
Trespasser
If the Inquisitor is friends with Vatna:
Two years after Corypheus’ defeat, Vatna unexpectedly arrives in the Winter Palace - as always, with a falcon at her side. The Inquisitor may express their confusion at her visit, to which Vatna replies that the gods urged her to go, even if it meant leaving her people again. She adds that “there’s a disturbance in the Land of Dreams, and the Lady’s Veil is still weak at the seams.” She voices a profound concern about the state of the Inquisitor's Anchor.
While travelling through the Crossroads, she notes that she’s aware the sky is different, though she “could never see it with her own eyes”. If the Inquisitor is an elf, she asks them if they would want to live in a place like that. If the Inquisitor is not an elf, Vatna offers to cast a spell that could alleviate the tiredness that affects all non-elven races in the Crossroads.
If Cole is in the party, he and Vatna engage in a cryptic conversation about dreams.
As the Anchor becomes more volatile, Vatna attempts to stabilize it, but she’s unsuccessful.
In the end, Vatna is shown to have returned to her hold, but it’s hinted that she might be doing something in the Fade to lessen the turmoil among its denizens.
If the Inquisitor is not friends with Vatna:
A letter addressed to the Inquisitor arrives from the Frostback Mountains, signed by Sky Watcher Vatna of Two Falcon Hold. The Avvar mage writes that she and the Inquisitor may not have agreed much, but it’s not going to matter if the world is set on fire. She gives a warning about “travelling the lonely path”. The package that was delivered alongside the letter contains a clear crystal wrapped in a wolf pelt, with a description claiming that the crystal “lessens the headache of watching the other sky through the eyes that weren’t meant to gaze upon it”.

If the player has killed any benevolent spirit, or Cole was expelled from the Inquisition, a special cutscene triggers upon the next return to Skyhold, in which Vatna threatens to leave the organization. She can be convinced to stay if her personal quest was initiated, or cast out right there and then.
If Vatna’s approval gets critically low, a cutscene will be initiated on the Skyhold battlements, where Vatna confronts the Inquisitor about their choices. She voices her regret about ever joining the Inquisition, saying that she would have fared better if she was on her own. The player can try to change her mind or tell her to leave, either way, the final result stays the same, with Vatna storming out of Skyhold, cursing the Inquisitor’s name.
Romance
Vatna is a potential love interest for male Inquisitors only.
The romance can be initiated after winning Vatna’s approval and completing her personal questline, including the approval-dependent conversation at the end of “Strong from Struggle”. Beforehand, there are several flirtatious dialogue options that can be chosen during conversations with Vatna, but she always swiftly changes the topic to something else, both in the case of male and female Inquisitors. Picking the flirtatious options doesn’t garner either approval or disapproval from Vatna, aside from a flirt line that can occur after rescuing the Avvar during “Fraught with Fury”, which results in “Disapproves” and a harsher reply.
Should the Inquisitor continue flirting with Vatna after her personal quest, she will eventually approach them in their quarters and express her intention to speak about the nature of their relationship. She and the Inquisitor go on a walk in the mountains surrounding Skyhold.
If the Inquisitor is female, Vatna gently tells her that she is not romantically interested in women, but she hopes to remain friends. She wishes the female Inquisitor good luck in her future pursuits. The Inquisitor may voice their dissatisfaction, to which Vatna will take offence, saying that she never hinted she was interested in the Inquisitor. Otherwise, they part on friendly terms.
If the Inquisitor is male, Vatna informs him that she indeed feels a connection between them, something more than friendship, but that she fears it might not be enough for him. Hesitating, she explains that she doesn’t experience sexual attraction, not towards the Inquisitor, nor anyone else she ever met in her life. In the past, she was romantically attracted to a man, someone she knew very well and cared for dearly, but in the end, the relationship didn’t work out, and she felt it was her fault. After sharing her point of view, Vatna asks the Inquisitor about their thoughts, saying she prefers to end it there and then if he finds such a situation an insurmountable obstacle.
At this point, the Inquisitor may disengage from the conversation, which ends the romance path, and depending on the dialogue option chosen, results in no approval change (and they part on friendly terms) or “Greatly Disapproves” from Vatna (if she was told she is “cold-hearted”).
However, if the Inquisitor decides to pursue the relationship, he and Vatna return to Skyhold together.
The party banter and ambient comments suggest that Vatna and the Inquisitor spend a lot of time together, which causes many rumours, especially among the Orlesian nobility visiting Skyhold. The companions may remark about the relationship and try to elicit a response from either Vatna or the Inquisitor, but Vatna always cuts them off.
One night, Vatna suddenly wakes up the Inquisitor, asking him if he remembers anything unusual from his recent dreams. If a mage, the Inquisitor may describe his dreams in more detail, if a non-mage, he may say that he vaguely recalls some dream (there are several options to choose from, including humorous options), either way, Vatna replies this is not what she meant. She explains that suspects a spirit is observing both her and the Inquisitor, but the being always hides away when she or her falcon try to approach it. She wishes to learn what the spirit wants and ask the Inquisitor for aid. If the Inquisitor agrees to her request, Vatna performs a ritual to send their minds into the Fade. Vatna and the Inquisitor investigate the magical landscape together, and eventually they manage to track down the spirit, which turns out to be a young Spirit of Love that became fascinated with the various types of relationships that formed in Skyhold and took particular interest in the bond between Vatna and the Inquisitor. Vatna encourages the spirit to cultivate its interest in love, as its kind is small in numbers.
After the final battle with Corypheus, Vatna shares a hug with the Inquisitor. Once the Inquisitor leaves the feast, she follows him upstairs, and they watch the sunrise together.
In Trespasser, Vatna reunites with the Inquisitor. Unlike in the non-romanced scenario, she is fully expected to arrive in the Winter Palace, and she exchanges warm greetings with the Inquisitor. As the Anchor grows more volatile, she actually succeeds in calming it, though only temporarily. Before the Inquisitor steps through the eluvian to meet Solas, Vatna makes him swear an oath that he will come back alive.
The epilogue shows that Vatna and the Inquisitor live in the Frostback Mountains.
Quotes
“The messengers of the Lady of the Skies led me here.”
“My mentor said that Fate is not written in stone.”
(To Cole) “You alone should choose which path you’ll follow.”
Trivia
All titles of quests that involve Vatna are taken from the Saga of Tyrdda Bright-Axe, Avvar-Mother.
In the promotional materials. Vatna is referred to as “The Forecaster”.
She is accompanied by a peregrine falcon and has a couple of its feathers attached to her clothes.
Vatna is classified as a mage, but she can be equipped both with staffs and melee weapons. Her skills are similar to that of Amund from Dragon Age: Inquisition Multiplayer.
Vatna acts friendly towards Cole, Solas, and Varric from the beginning. Over the consecutive banters, she warms up towards Cassandra, Iron Bull, and Blackwall.
In her location-specific remarks, she often comments on the weather and the behaviour of local birds.
If a quest involves spirits, the changes in Vatna’s approval occur even if she’s not in the active party, similar to how Cole’s approval can change in a number of quests without him being present.
She is the only companion that doesn’t have an approval change in Trespasser when the Inquisitor declares their intent about either saving or hunting down Solas.

Quote
The figure of the cyborg turns the marginality of "queer" on its head, taking for granted that proletarian monsters under fire from transphobia and antiblackness are powerful recombinant operatives, central to class struggle. [...] As Haraway's concern makes clear, far from representing an aestheticized apocalyptic ideal for the Anthropocene, the cyborg is a multiply colonized test-subject, situated squarely in the Capitalocene. "She" is a laborer who traffics in informational, capital, and gender codes. Think of a hormone-deprived prisoner; or a manufacturer of low-grade circuit-boards and computer-chips on night-shift; or a pregnant housewife-cum-call-center-contractor; or a forcibly sterilized migrant hijacking radio-waves, evading searchlights. [...] In contrast [to her more recent uncritical Lovecraftian allegories], the cyborg stood for a politics of "pollution." And insofar, I remain for reading Haraway against Haraway. For all her chastisement of "bitter cynicism", and for all her talk of mud and piss and worms, the chanting goddess who has displaced the earlier cyborg, at least in the pages of Staying with the Trouble, is too much of a clean-living misanthrope--and above all, too much of a pessimist--to be a comrade. Meanwhile, her neglected (if not disavowed) framework of cyborgicity becomes a more and more potent heuristic for thinking class composition and embodying its struggles every day. Cyborgs for Earthly Survival! was the slogan Haraway submitted to Socialist Review. That spirit still lives in the interstices of Staying with the Trouble. Part of our task is indeed "not to forget the stink in the air from the burning of the witches, not to forget the murders of human and nonhuman beings in the Great Catastrophes named the Plantationocene, Anthropocene, Capitalocene". Part of it is, indeed, to "move through memory to represencing;" to grow capable of response; to become kin; and to "stay with" trouble. But the main thing is to make an altogether bigger kind of trouble.

Does troy really have a split jaw or is that fanon?
It's total fanon!
Tumblr media
The design of the split lines across his cheekbones and chin coupled with the cheek clips and v shaped hinge outline next to his ears lead to a lot of people coming to that same outcome, that there is something up with his mouth from a prosthetic/mod standpoint.
So much of his design is never mentioned once or referenced in any way (hightech spinal rig with tattoos under it, neuro connector, mech arm that's much older and doesn't seem related to the spine and neuroport, implants on bicep, face mod etc) that like Tyreen's scars and possible lower body Siren markings, fandom took over when it came to coming up with logical explanations for 'em.
This actually touches ground with some Ao3 comments I wanted to share as they are all Leech Lord compliant, so I'll list them here alongside links to the fics they were related to (note warnings!)
Tumblr media
You leave no avenue for characterization unexplored. Troy's facial prostheses finally receiving backstory is amazing
- Maw (Gore/Bodyhorror)
I LOVE the idea of it being not just decorative shit on his face, but my MO for any content I make is always based around asking why, over and over, and trying to make sense of what material I'm using in the first place. The modded mouth is a popular piece of fanon but you know... why? Why would he do that shit to himself. WHY would he want to be grotesque, why would he be chasing the reaction people would have to it when canonically he seems to really not be interested in fan attention the same way Tyreen is, what's the difference to him between being adored as his persona or being lusted after as a monster, etc. I just love deep-diving into the logic behind character and world building? It's what adds meat to the bone for me.
Big 'ol character and worldbuilding / lore responses list under the cut -
He could afford better robots but these ones UNDERSTAND Ty, don't you get it?
- Good night in (tooth rotting fluff)
Hey just because it's mangled and broken, and can't perform its intended function to a degree expected of it by everyone around it... and it's got rusty sharp bits it accidentally hurts you with sometimes... and it's cranky but it doesn't mean it... and sometimes it errors out in a way that's mildly disturbing in a way you can't place.. uh.. doesn't mean you should just GIVE UP ON IT you know? He can fix them :) They will be fine :) No one should just throw away something that's trying so hard just because it's damaged... haha... :')
It's so hard seeing how much they tear each other down when they're the only thing they have left. And what a poor self-image Tyreen has beyond all that glitter and bluster...
- Wolf in sheep's clothing
The twins function well enough as a unit till tensions rise, and I was trying to seed in The Leech's influence on them in earlier work like this too - towards anyone else Ty would become MORE aggressively confident, more assured in her complete and utter dominance of the situation, her flawlessness, but against Troy who see's her for what she is, it turns inwards and eats at her instead of lashing outwards. He switches from relatively submissive around her to almost surgical levels of dissection, he knows exactly how to go for the jugular with words, and doesn't hold back. She's The Leech's mouth but he's its eyes and it's only when they lose control emotionally enough for it to claw to the surface of their psyches that you get an idea of how much it really affects them individually. GB had an absolute goldmine on their hands here of cosmic/body horror and the concept of toxic family when all you have is each other, there's so much to work with, and I figure it's a factor in why some people still really enjoy messing around with Calypso content.
I like how you allow Troy to be a disabled character, how his congenital defects and prosthetics colour his outlook and appear in ways big and small in all these vignettes. It's easy, I think, to see him as largely untroubled by his health apart from when he needs a charge from Tyreen in the game, but you allow him to struggle with his weakness.
- Chronic (Drug use)
I'm really glad to hear that's coming through in the writing because it's something I noticed a lot too. Very often when Troy, or other characters canonically disabled / chronically unwell are written it's "told" and not "shown". Chronic pain, illness, it's not something that is just a little tickbox in a life or some descriptive terms added to a character synopsis, it's something you live and deal with. There are bad days. There are times it is a negative that has to be worked around or faced in ways that aren't pleasant. It doesn't make you lesser or weak to have times where illness does leave you unable to function to a level you want to, it's not a failure for you to be unable to perform tasks when a disability or flair up means it's not viable. I feel personally that by showing scenes like this where his health and body issues do have a very visceral and impossible to ignore the effect on his ability to function, and going through his mental processes of dealing with and managing them, it brings the character across as stronger than if he never seemed to be shown dealing with symptoms or weaknesses. People are more than their disabilities and conditions, those aren't just kinda taglines to add onto a character's description and then never address. I feel like doing that in a way undermines what people deal with who manage chronic illness, pain, and who have disabilities that affect their daily lives negatively. Appreciating the effort it takes to manage them is important.
What I really like about these is that you can really understand as a reader how their dynamic must have evolved. How even before Leda's death Tyreen would have felt demonized while Troy got the attention because of his condition, because he was less willful.
- Starlight, Moonbright
Ah man, absolutely - and that shit stayed with them. It wasn't his fault and he never wanted it, but of course their parents would have had their extremely ill child at the forefront of their thoughts, especially during weeks when he was.. bad. Tyreen by nature even without The Leech's influence is a little attention seeker, she'd be the life of any party and she BLOSSOMS if she's got the spotlight, but as a little kid who's got literally no one but her parents and her brother, and who all three of which can't give her nearly as much time as she deserved? That's rough. That's really unfair. That coupled with The Leech's warping effect on their egos as they grew up and the bitterness and resentment they harbored in different ways created a reverse dynamic. She'd never be out of the Galaxy's attention again, and he'd have no choice but to take his rightful place in her shadow.
I love how you illustrate both how much more, and yet how much less Troy is now. How the blameless child, full of potential, is inextricably linked to the brutal, larger-than-life avatar he fashions.
- DeLeon ( Graphic Violence / Gore / Hallucinations)
He's molded the monster he is now out of the bones of the man he should have been - there's no going back really. There's nothing left to go back to. He broke Troy DeLeon apart to build the persona that acts like an iron lung now, suffocating him breath by breath while forcing him to still take them. That life is over, he killed it before it had a chance, but the idea of it is still there in his subconscious. Somewhere in the absolute trainwreck of Troy's brain is the tiny, flickering belief that maaaaaybe one day this will all be over and he can shuck off the bracer and spines, peel off all the shit he's covered his skin with, and just go back to not being Calypso. DeLeon here isn't some aspect of his mental state or his sins haunting him - it's The Leech, spitting venom at a host it loathes in something that's not sound or comprehensible language. His subconscious has just translated it into something it can understand - his greatest regret.
On if Borderlands Humans originated on Earth -
There's a really tenuous link between BL verse and rEarth, but it's there and can't be ignored. The cultures, accents, terminologies, so many are Earth specific despite these people being spread across galaxies, so hell yes - Earth as an emergence point makes total sense. The next question then, is why is it never mentioned - and you can cover for that with a lot of things like say, tt was so long ago that it's not relevant to anything that would ever be discussed, or it could be a mass evacuation from a catastrophe there is little record of now. I like to go with something along those lines, that the first human Siren host emergence on earth just absolutely decimated the planet. Like, we were doing fine till this random woman somewhere in the ass-end of nowhere develops weird markings overnight, then goes apocalyptic. The first Leech maybe, not understanding her powers and having them rip across continents in a spread of crackling electric death that only left husked shells of plants and animals in its wake, or the first Firehawk who went nuclear and burned the sky, or the first Voidgrasp who lost control and began to collapse the planet's core - some extreme shit that had humans fleeing en masse with barely any preparation and HUGE swathes of history and knowledge left behind. That would cover so many social things surviving into the BL verse, cultures, accents, cooking, that shit comes with us regardless of what we were able to throw into escape ships. Like so much data would be stored on any tech and data arrays within the vessels people would use to leave a dying planet even in an insane rush, but that shit waters down over time - if you're farming barely edible plants on some planet that smells like farts, are you really gonna be that stressed about teaching your kids history from a lost planet when your current concerns are not being eaten by something with 19 legs and 4 buttholes? Don't think so.
On if the other Siren entities are as influential to their hosts as The Leech -
I touch on it a wee bit throughout LL, but the others are FAR more passive and meld more to their host's whims. The Firehawk Siren wouldn't.. like.. care? If the host was burning down a planet or fighting off an evil corporation? They are removed from any nonsense happening on this side, they might not even really be able to tell, it's like asking an amoeba or a collection of sentient atomic particles what its opinion is on Brexit. That's not really its priority. The Leech is so aggressive in its control of the twins and desperation to drive them towards an outcome it desires only cause it's split, broken, removed from the song, and completely lost. We're talking a caged, half-mad animal removed from its natural environment and left totally isolated from its own kind for millennia. It's in pain, it's confused, it wants to find its way back to the song and the others and where it belongs, but it's stopped by a barrier it can't comprehend ( the twins and being ripped between them), so in its impotent rage it feeds back that hatred onto them. It's not really sentient in the way we would describe functional intelligence, but it wants, and craves, and FEELS. And it feels very, very angry.
Big thanks to @undergoingcalibrations for talking through so much of this with me!

I don’t know if there are AU fics there about Thor meeting Jane in Asgard instead of his mom in Endgame but... could you write if there are none? Love your writing style btw
I started this in quarantine last April, and here I am a year later finishing it. ANGST AHOY. (and thank youuuuuuuu!)
She’s more beautiful than he remembered. He sees her from behind at first, her small frame swathed in a simple, blue wrap gown. She’s folding her clothes from Midgard, hands deft. She misses Rocket darting behind the small lounge, syringe in hand.
Thor steps fully into the room, and she must hear him. She calls out, “No, I don’t need any help with my clothing, but thank you for the offer.”
He can’t immediately speak. He means to say something, he... he must’ve had a plan before Rocket shoved him through this doorway? Surely, he’d thought of something clever and suave and charming, something that he would’ve said to her when they’d been together and he could make her laugh. Something he would’ve said before--
Before.
Then she turns and--Norns, she is beautiful.
“Oh, Thor,” she says, and then she smiles. “Hi. Sorry, I didn’t realize it was you.”
His tongue feels thick in his mouth. “Y-you-you, uh--” He swallows and tries again. “You don’t have to apologize. For anything. Ever.”
Her brow furrows. “Hey, are you okay?” She’d always known him so well, hadn’t she? And he’d just--allowed her to slip away. Over two years of living together, years of loving and being loved, and he’d just--
“Thor, what’s wrong?” The sheer concern in her voice as she sets her folded clothing down makes his knees feel weak. Then she’s walking towards him and he doesn’t feel prepared for this moment at all.
Norns, he’d made such a mess of everything, and then he’d never gotten a chance to fix it.
She seems to realize at that moment that he’s not the Thor she knows, and she freezes halfway to him. There’s a small, needy part of him that wants to reach out to her, just feel her touch one more time to remind him of a time before his failure so catastrophically rocked the universe.
The other part, that knows he is on a mission and needs to do this in order to succeed, tries to come up with an excuse or a plan. He had one before he walked in, certainly.
“You--” Jane draws back, adopting a tentative, novice defensive stance, “--are not Thor.”
That’s an easy enough answer. “Well, yes, yes I am.”
Her eyes narrow. “Mm, no. Last I saw him, Thor’s beard was shorter. His hair wasn’t, uh--” She glances at the top of his head, “--that. One of your eyes is brown.” She looks down at him. “If you’re Thor, then where’s your armor?”
“Um. Not. On?”
“Yeah, consider me unconvinced. If you’re Thor,” a clever smile dawns on her face, like she’s just solved a long series of complex equations, “then call Mjolnir.”
“Oh.” He’d somehow forgotten that at this time, he still had Mjolnir. He still had his honor, his courage, his--
He’d been worthy, at this time.
“Jane, that’s--I just--” Thor sees Rocket moving behind her, his arm cocked back and ready to take the infinity stone that flows through her veins. “Rocket, wait!”
Jane’s eyes widen, and she whirls around and screams, “What the fuck is that?”
“Thor, come on!” Rocket exclaims.
“Jane,” he says again, “Please just trust me. We need your help.”
She backs away slowly, trying to keep both Thor and Rocket, with his arm still poised to stab, in her sights.
“That’s a talking raccoon,” she breathes. “I’m talking to a raccoon on an alien planet.”
Rocket protests, but Thor cuts him off. “Jane, please.”
“We need to borrow the Aether for like two seconds,” Rocket says. “The fate of the universe kind of depends on it.”
“Someone better explain to me what the hell is going on and fast,” she says, voice raising to nearly a shout, “or you will not like what happens!”
Thor notices the molecular red and black swirling at her fingertips and in her eyes. If she stays this stressed, she’s liable to explode on them. That might knock her unconscious, and while that might make their task in stealing the Aether from her easier, but he can’t stomach the thought of doing that to her.
“Jane, listen to me,” he says, voice soft, falling back into a familiar pattern of calming her down when she’s upset. “I am Thor, but... not the one you know.” He desperately wants to reach out to her, as was his way when they were together, but he holds himself back. “I promise I am not deceiving you. I know that you cannot carry a tune when you sing in the shower, but you do it anyway. You graduated summa cum laude from Culver and got your first doctorate before you were twenty-two, and you always wondered if you should’ve slowed down to enjoy university life more. You always chew the end of your pen or pencil when you’re working. We had dinner with your mother every other weekend--” He winces a little at that mention. "That--um. I guess that hasn’t... happened yet.”
He sees wheels turning behind her eyes, and there’s something easy here between them, a familiar thread of trust that feels all too good for Thor to pick up again. Her brow furrows slightly as her incredible mind works, and her bottom lip ends up between her teeth.
“You’re saying this is time travel,” she says, matter-of-fact. Like she’s positing a hypothesis with Tony or Darcy in the lab.
He’s missed this. He’s missed her. Norns, has he missed her.
“Oh my god,” Jane breathes, “Time travel.” A massive grin spreads across her face. “It’s possible; I knew it!” Her eyes are alight and Thor is struck with another stab of longing. She’s standing right in front of her and yet he misses her so fiercely. “Tell me everything. How did I do it? I’ve only got some rough schematics drawn up of a wormhole generator, but I bet that’s how it was done. Ha!” She pumps a fist in a small victory motion.
“We’re wasting time, here, loverboy,” Rocket interrupts, his small claws wrapped a little too eagerly around the syringe meant to transport the stone.
“Rocket, shut up,” Thor growls.
She steps closer to him, her eagerness for knowledge shining from her face like a light. “How’d we compensate for the energy? Ooh, and how are you planning on returning to your timeline? Do you have some sort of recall device? How is that powered? Or is it like a yo-yo type of device which sends you for a certain amount of time and then calls you back automatically? That would make sense for why your raccoon friend is in such a hurry.” Her eyes widen a little. “That seems like something I’d do. It would probably be beyond the scope of our capabilities to make a power cell small enough to carry on your person, depending on when you guys came from--”
It comes out of him like pus from lancing an infected wound: “You didn’t do it.”
It breaks his heart a little bit to see her imagination come to a grinding halt, to see the shock and disappointment flood across her features. “I... I didn’t?”
Tears prickle at the back of his eyes. “No. You... no.”
“Oh,” she breathes. He can see her visibly shrink, shoulders caving in and her previous exuberance extinguishing like a snuffed candle.
His chest hurts. He wants to hold her.
“I’m sorry.” His voice cracks.
“Oh,” she says again, a different note to it this time. “Am I, um... you know. Dead?”
It feels like a punch to the stomach to hear her say it. He can’t voice it out loud. He’d seen her name on the list of known Avengers asset casualties. Her name was chiseled into stone on the Lost Monument in London. He’d only visited in a fit of drunken self-flagellation one time, and once had been more than enough.
Apparently he doesn’t need to say it. Even without years together under her belt, he’s never been particularly subtle nor she particularly obtuse.
“I see,” is all she says, her arms crossing over her chest, one hand coming up to her chin. Her thumb taps her lower lip once. Twice. “How did I die? Old age?” She winces a little. “Something sooner than that?”
Thor’s tongue sits thick in his mouth.
“A bad guy snapped his fingers and killed half the universe,” Rocket says, impatient with Thor’s inability to communicate. “You were part of the unlucky half.”
Jane’s eyes widen. “Snapped... his fingers.”
“Yes,” Rocket grits, “and if we don’t borrow the Aether we won’t be able to bring any of those people back, so if you don’t mind--”
She’s already offering her arm before he finishes his sentence. “Take it. It’s killing me anyway, although--” Jane lets out a harsh chuckle, “--if you’re from a future where I’m killed by a finger-snapping psycho-killer, then I guess I won’t die from this, at least.”
Rocket smiles at Jane and then sends a seething look Thor’s way. “See, Thor, how efficient a little cooperation can make things?”
For how much they struggled with fixing Jane’s Aether affliction in this timeline, it’s almost trivially easy for Rocket to jab the needle into Jane and take the stone. The syringe is specially crafted to draw in and store this particularly finicky stone, but it goes off without a hitch, and when Rocket withdraws the needle, Jane simply covers her now bleeding arm with a hand.
Rocket thanks her, the caustic raccoon strangely polite now that he’s realized what kind of person Jane is, and turns to Thor.
“Time to jet, big boy,” he says.
“Wait,” Thor says, impulse overriding any other judgements, “give me a moment.”
Rocket sighs, and glancing between Jane and Thor, he seems to understand. Given the chance, Thor knows Rocket would want to talk to his family that he lost. Thankfully, it looks like he will afford Thor the same courtesy.
“A moment,” Rocket echoes, a not-so-subtle reminder that they cannot stay here in the safety of the past when they have a job to do. A universe to save. People to bring back.
Rocket exits the room, leaving Thor and Jane alone.
“Do you, um.” Jane’s hands scrunch up the skirt of her dress before she gestures at the couch. “Want to sit?”
As he sits down, Jane follows next to him, so close and warm, he realizes belatedly that he has been dying to talk to someone who loves him. Desperate to talk to someone who knows him on a deeper level than his friends on Earth and New Asgard. (At this time, they’re all alive. His mother, here and hale. Volstagg, Fandral, Hogun, Sif, likely somewhere nearby and plotting with him on how they’re going to solve the latest challenge. And Jane.)
She asks him a simple, “How long has it been?” and it all spills out of him, a dam overdue to be broken after five years of holding his pain and guilt at bay. He tells her of Ragnarok, the broad strokes of it anyway, losing his friends and his home and Mjolnir, that they’d broken up, Thanos, the stones, the battle they’d lost, the five years of wounded peace, and the chance they now have to fix it.
“It doesn’t feel like enough,” he whispers. “All that suffering and pain because I failed. We found him, and I killed him... but what was the point? We were too late, and I was just an idiot with an axe.”
“I might not know you as well as your Jane does,” she says slowly, “but I know enough to know that you’re no idiot.” She leans into him, looping her elbow around his and reaching for his hand. Their fingers twine, something familiar to Thor but new for her. “Everyone fails at something. That doesn’t make you a failure, it just makes you like everyone else.”
“But I’m supposed to be better.”
She shrugs. “Then prove it. When I first met you, and you failed to get Mjolnir back from the crater site, you didn’t shut down or stop trying. You just...” She sighs. “I don’t really know, but you just decided that you were still going to be better, even if you didn’t have your hammer. You taught me about the realms, you went to Izzy and apologized for smashing her mug,” she chuckles a little at that, “and it probably wasn’t what you wanted, but what I saw then wasn’t a failure. I didn’t fully get it then, but you had literally lost everything--your home, your way of life, your family, Mjolnir and your powers--but you still smiled at us, still kept moving forward when everything was trying to crush you. That’s a hero, if you ask me.”
He swallows, his emotion for this woman threatening to overwhelm him for a few heartbeats. “Thank you,” he whispers, leaning his forehead against hers. She leans back, relaxed and easy.
“You should try to call Mjolnir,” she suggests, so casual and offhand that it nearly knocks him off the couch.
He could, he realizes. Mjolnir is not gone in this timeline, and if they will return the Aether to it’s proper place, Mjolnir can make the trip back just as easily.
He’s spent the last five years proving himself to be a worthless lump of a man, being the exact opposite of what Jane thought him to be, but it isn’t too late for him. It had never felt right, being in the skin of a depressed, lazy drunk who sometimes couldn’t summon the energy to leave his bed or talk to his friends. It hadn’t been him. In fact, he’s felt more like himself since he’d come back to the Avengers for this wild, last-ditch effort to fix what Thanos did than he’s felt in a long time.
The last five years have changed him, certainly, but if Jane can still see the man who’d unflinchingly faced down death as a human man in New Mexico, then he can try to see him to.
Thor stands and reaches out, calling for a presence that had been his constant companion since he was a boy.
He calls, and Mjolnir answers.
Thor smiles.
