you have some really evil, selfish and toxic ideas irt whos allowed to have friends, you know? i see pop psy people like you all the time making lists of things that are clear and obvious trauma induced behaviour, and then immediately flip to how if you have a friend who ever behaves like this they are evil and need to be cut off, theyre not allowed to have support systems to get better! you really hate bad victims, huh? if someone isn't demure and cowering and self effacing in their symptoms they don't deserve anyone? i got assaulted and when my friend group threw me out on my ass and called me too fucked up for acting erratic and strange in the aftermath and being unable to communicate why they used your posts to justify it. its sick that people like you will look at someone uncontrollably acting out their ptsd and go wow you aren't doing this nice enough to be tolerated! people like you talk so much about compassion but when it comes to people in actual crisis you don't give a shit. no, theyre acting too problematic. just cut them off! no one should help their friends!

Please allow me to take this opportunity to make some things clear.

First, you do not know me. You do not know anything about me. You do not know where I've been, where I'm going, or where I am. Do you know that a drowning person struggling to get air will instinctively drag you under them?

It's hard to save people in the water. It takes specific skills and knowledge that not everybody has. Not everyone can save a drowning person without drowning in the process.

The lifeguard needs energy, and strength, and expertise, and persistence.

The swimmer needs self-restraint, and composure, and the desire to be helped, and the ability to do what they can to facilitate their own rescue.

I believe in kindness, and generosity, and compassion. I believe in trying persistently, and in giving the benefit of the doubt wherever possible. I believe that people are good, and small, and trying. And I believe that I can give all the energy I have inside of me to help someone and still come up short.

So you're drowning? I'm sorry. That must be terrifying. That must be miserable. You must be experiencing the worst moments of your life. I hope someone nearby knows how to help you. I hope they have a raft you can climb into, or a rope for you to grab, or a float you can cling to. I hope things get better. I'll call for help, and give you what I can to get you to shore.

But don't you dare drag me under water and curse me for saving myself.

Yeeeeeeaaaaahhh I saw it in passing and I KNOW people come here having hope and such, but I'll be brutally honest... I don't think it's going to happen, at least not for a LONG time. After S4, both Ben and Martin seemed done with Sherlock AND both have VERY busy schedules with both individual and Marvel projects, so yeah. I dunno. At this point though, I think it would be wise to either retcon S4, make it retirement, or just leave it alone.

But I feel like the odd duck out here and will probably have all of y'all hate me, but... I really don't think they SHOULD continue on, just leave well enough alone. S4 ended without a cliffhanger and I reallly do think it's because Mofftiss got bored of the series and just... didn't want to leave it hanging (even though S4 brought on so many more plotholes).

I've talked about my thoughts on a new season here. But a movie and acting like S4 wasn't the shitshow it was? Yikes. And yeah I was confused about the movie quote too, but I think they meant like a modern-movie-length, which is about 2 to 3 hours nowadays. And if that happens, I'd be happy if they corrected S4. But wishful thinking.

Again, I think well enough should be left alone.

Sorry, Charlie, if that wasn't the answer you were hoping for, but I don't want to give people false hopes. I'd LOVE for Johnlock to happen but yeah at this rate, I don't think BBC Sherlock WILL be Johnlock.

To be able to seed "properly", I would have had to predict not only how popular these characters are (many of whom I didnt know prior to this bracket), but how much fans would respond to their various dissociative vibes. Which would require a lot of knowledge on the dissociative side of every fandom featured here. I don't think I need to explain how unreasonable that is right???

Pls be nice to your fellow tournament runners, they put in a lot of work to run these things and being rude is disheartening because they cant control who wins each round :(

I just came accross your replies to my book Irene rant. Yes as we both agree book Irene was great. As an individual character. I don't see ship there and in BBC? There's no ship but cruelty. Irene is cruel and BBC Sherlock was visibly uncomfortable with her thoughts and messages. And Sherlock being human, in TBB did people notice how he comforted Sarah? He's always human. Irene Adler in BBC just used it. Worst depiction of empowering woman. As a woman it's a disgrace.

Yeah, Sherlock most definitely was not enjoying himself in ASiB, and I'm always boggled when people think it was "hot". I dunno, it's not my jam, honestly.

I think in her own way, BBC Irene was a good character, but they just... kind of "fetishized" her, for a lack of a better word (it's not what I mean, but it's more like Mofftiss have this weird "hurting Sherlock" kink and it's just kind of off??). All the women in the show inevitably get washed away somehow, or written out of character to how they were initially written (and this is only including "main" recurring characters):

Molly => Reduced back to S1E1 Molly, simpering over Sherlock after they established her to be a character who grew out of her crush on Sherlock

Donovan => In trying to make her a "strong character" they instead reduced her to stereotypes and then inevitably she just... was never seen again.

Anthea => Just disappeared, no mention of her character, if she was even still Myc's assistant

Sarah => Literally disappeared from the show, never to see her again

Mrs Hudson => WTF was her characterization in S4?? The car thing was so bloody weird, like out of nowhere

Irene => Reduced to a sex joke

Mary => Was going to be a badass villain and instead had the shittiest "redemption arc" that all the characters essentially idolized her for some godawful reason

Hopkins => I put her on here because she was LITERALLY HEAVILY PROMOTED as a new main character in S4 before it aired... and then she was only a one-note side joke with three lines of dialogue in one episode. Never showed up again after T6T.

Euros => Don't.... even get me started on her. Was some weird X-Man supervillain, who's entire arc was... needing a hug from Sherlock.

And I was also gonna add Baby Watson here too, but she's more an issue of "introducing a baby into a show and have it disappear when it's inconvenient" kind of trope.

Bleh, and I know this is ALL nitpicking and all my opinion, so it's fine if y'all disagree. I love this show a lot, and it's frustrating that it has HUGE gaping flaws in it, LOL. Anyway.

I think all the characters on the show ARE great characters, they just suffer from Moffat's inevitable decline in writing the longer something goes on when he's in charge, LOL.

I’m sorry but I have to indulge my judgemental side today. I am begging some of you to learn just ... a little bit of media literacy. Please. I saw someone call people out for calling pyro a creature because apparently they had gotten it into their head that the reason people call pyro some sort of beast or perhaps a creature ... is because their gender is obscured and therefore the people who say this can’t see a nonbinary character without equaling them to something nonhuman.

Like them being genderweird in some way is a natural conclusion and makes sense for her character but also it was not intentional, we made that up. the CREATURE thing is VERY CLEARLY intentional on the design side. Calling it a creature is not a social justice issue, it is a result of people understanding visual shorthand. and. having eyes.

If you’re uncomfortable with genderweird people being called nonhuman, that’s fine. Nothing wrong with that. But also you have very much picked, possibly the very worst character to headcanon as NB? This is on you.

I’m complaining abt the wizard of waterdeep under the cut.

the lack of empathy from g*le towards the tadpole gang whenever anything happens is shocking to me. wyll is going through the ringer and all he can say is SEE THAT’S WHY YOU DONT MAKE WARLOCK PACTS, astarion’s siblings come for him in the night and all he does is complain that he was woken up by the sounds of fighting, lae’zel gets kidnapped by orin and he expresses zero concern about anything but losing a valuable sword arm, etc etc.
