Miraculous: Redemption and Validation
So, what makes Chloe (before the events of the Season 3 finale) and Felix all that different?
Both were born to wealth. Both were raised to be generally bad people. Both did bad things. Both strove to be better. Both are blond(e).
So why is Felix's abuse and trauma validated and redeemed, while Chloe's is dismissed? What is actually different about them?
Another character who functionally achieves "redemption and validation" is Gabriel. He goes on to whatever comes next to be with Emilie (if that wasn't her alongside Nathalie), and is remembered as a hero who gave his life to stop Monarch. But he tormented Paris for months, is directly responsible for the trauma of countless people, and even his decision to die (potentially) leaves Adrien as an orphan and conveniently lets him escape from the consequences of his actions.
Or how about Zoe? She's basically got half of Chloe's backstory due to the fact that they share a terrible mother. But she's "nice", so her experiences are validated.
Kagami? Also rich, also abused (albeit in a different way than Chloe is), also does some questionable stuff. But she's validated.
Marinette? There's an entire episode dedicated to validating her stalking tendencies!
Adrien? Vaguely validated, but the show often doesn't care enough to do more than a "he's sad because his dad sucks and his mom is dead" about it before moving on to something else.
The story does more to validate Jessica Keynes than it does to validate Chloe! And I bet half of the people reading this had to look up who that even is!
I think the culmination of this is Miraculous Paris, where we get some glimpses into a "reverse world", where Gabriel is a hero and ChatBug are the villains. What's weird is that while Shadybug and Claw Noir have their issues validated (which also turns them to the side of good), Shadynette turning issues and trauma is that she was tormented by Chloe.
This tells me two things.
Validating people's issues and trauma, and then helping them over come them is a way to help others become better people.
Chloe is apparently evil in every timeline, even the ones where we clearly see she was trying to be better.
It's almost like Chloe is unfairly singled out as being "irredeemable", even as the series preaches that understanding and validation can result in people overcoming their trauma, turning their lives around, and becoming some of your most trusted companions.

SOOOOOOOOOOO…… anyone else keeping count of the Mandalorian urge to adopt children running rampant in the Fett lineage this season? I think we about to double Hunter’s current adopted count (4), in a single episode, courtesy Echo and Emori! AND I AM HERE FOR IT!!!!
I love how in like ep 2 Hunter immediately moved from 1 to 4. And now Echo is about to call him and tell him he better start building a bigger house on Pabu because he’s inbound with 4 more, including a baby. And before y’all get mad and remind me they have families already, consider this: even if returning them to their families is doable, they’re gonna need good protection for the rest of their lives, and who better to teach them that than the Bad Batch + Rex and Friends? AKA, Hunter is now like a swordfather to, ~8 kids!!!
Tumblr media
^ this is how this man wants to love out the rest of his days, watching his children play and live free!!! and this is what I want to see too!!!

So I just learned from a UQuiz that apparently not everyone sees the world through a transparent sheet of technicoloured sand.
& that it’s like. A whole ass diagnosable rare condition if you do.
& that said condition also causes a lot of other symptoms that I had assumed were normal at the degree I experience them?
Like the bright skittering lights on bright light surfaces or the sky aren’t supposed to be beyond counting?
& not being able to see properly in the dark because everything is bright coloured splotches everywhere…
Also I’m inferring from what I’m reading that it… isn’t supposed to be hard to tell if you have a migraine aura or not???
‘Cause most people don’t just have flashy bright colours everywhere all the time.
Like it’s not a progressive thing & I’ve had it all my life, so it’s probs not a big deal or anything.
& I’m gonna tell my neurologist at my next appointment.
But I am seriously reeling from the fact that this is actually not the common experience.

My local Japanese store had the most recent edition of the JoJo magazine, so I bought it soley for this segment about Jotaro’s relationship with the crusaders. The two paragraphs on the bottom explain how Jotaro and Kakyoin have such deep respect for one another, and even mentions how Kakyoin is one of the only people to bring a smile to Jotaro’s face. 🥲
Tumblr media
Another thing that’s mentioned that I originally wanted to make a separate post about was how Jotaro was the only one of the crusaders to hear Kakyoin calling out for them upon his return from the hospital.
Tumblr media
One might say it’s because Star Platinum is a precision based stand, so of course that would mean he also has excellent hearing. Well, yes, that’s true, but the magazine says it’s because he’s Jotaro’s ‘Best Partner’ and that they have a bond ‘that goes beyond reason’, which is also just as correct (I mean, Jotaro didn’t have a reason as to why he risked his own life to save Kakyoin’s ffs). After all, Jotaro is the only one who was willing to sit and listen to Kakyoin’s fun facts, so of course Jotaro would be the only one to hear Kak’s voice. And Kakyoin will sometimes even speak up for both of them, he’s aware that Jotaro isn’t a talker and prefers to convey his feelings through actions.
Tumblr media
Kudos to the author of this article btw, they even pointed out how Kakyoin is so attentive to Jotaro’s opinions on anything. In this panel, Kakyoin exclaims something along the lines of “Let’s hear your opinion, Jotaro!” (I’m too lazy to look up the official translated version, lol).
Tumblr media
Kak knows Jotaro so well to the point that they no longer need the words to communicate with each other. They barely needed to say anything when they reunited too!
Tumblr media
And this beautiful relationship was formed all because Jotaro was the first person in Kakyoin’s life to show him genuine kindness and dedicate his time to listening and understanding him, and vice versa.
Uhh, I don’t know where exactly I wanted to go with this ramble. I just wanted to share some stuff that I found interesting and adorable from this page of the JoJo Magazine. xD

Adrien's Best Is Never In The Show
At the time of writing this, the Miraculous Paris special has not long gone by (only a few days ago now). And between this special and the movie not terribly long before it, it has highlighted that Miraculous is never at its best when it is in its primary form.
The show is never the best form of the show.
And, in my opinion, it always comes back to the same reason. Oh, sure, there's a lot of reasons that I love the movie, and there's equally as many as to why Miraculous Paris is great, but there's one thing that stands out:
Adrien exists as a character independent of Marinette.
Now, this isn't a perfect metric of course, a lot of his drama in Miraculous New York tied back to Ladybug, and he was honestly rather superfluous in Miraculous Shanghai, but the movie and Miraculous Paris gave him some real characterisation. Even New York, for all its flaws, managed to land some points on that front by giving him a bit of trauma related to accidentally using Cataclysm on Uncanny Valley.
Miraculous Paris doesn't do terribly much with him, but he gets a nice little scene alongside Claw Noir, showcasing some vulnerability and internal pain that clearly gnaws at him.
And the movie? It has its flaws, but we are really getting some insight into his thoughts about his mother, about how deeply the loss of her wounded him.
This is what Adrien's fans have been clamoring for since we realised that the title of "Miraculous: The Adventures Of Ladybug And Chat Noir" was more than a little misleading: giving him some time to exist as a person that is independent of Ladybug/Marinette, as well as independent of his father.
Adrien in these pieces of the franchise gets to be Adrien, rather than Marinette's Love Interest, or Gabriel's Son.
So, going forward into the as-of-yet unaired Season 6? More of that please.

YOU GUYS!!! I noticed something while rewatching the Mandalorian today and needed to share it with my fellow Star Wars nerds!!! (Galactic geeks perhaps? We need a name for us Star Wars nerds!)
They specify in Mando that the last 4 digits of the chain code tell the individual’s age!
Which tells us a few things:
1) there are at least a few species of interest to the empire that can live up to or beyond 1000 years of age, or they wouldn’t really care about that. We know over 100 years is fairly common, Ugnauts for example, but only a few examples of species over 1000. Even Yoda didn’t live for 1 whole millennia, tho it’s hard to say if that’s common for his species or if his life was actually cut short because Jedi have a tendency to have shorter lifespans than their natural species
2) with every year that passes the chain code changes. Making it easy for them to catch someone if they type the wrong age, whether accidentally or not
3) it’s also why it’s hard to hide a clone. Even with forged identities and fake ages, they’d have to keep forging new identities every few years, or the empire is gonna notice that their ages increase too fast for a normal human
Layer upon layer, the empire has built bias into everything they do… but in such a way that it is easy to miss and difficult to avoid. Tho, making them “chain” code is very symbolic. They really are chains shackling all people of the Galaxy to the Empire
I wonder if Thrawn gave them his real age…
I wonder if the chain codes also include a species code… and what else is contained in them? Anyone know more details about these chain codes?
This also means that Din’s age might be on screen in that one episode with Jack Black and the Lizzo when Din and Bo show their chain codes! Will update this if I find it when I get there!
Side note: I also love the way the subtitles translate “e chu ta” as “hey” in episode 1, as though it’s just a minor thing

whenever I see people say that fall out boy's music sucks now or that they only made good music before the hiatus I am baffled. what do you mean you wish they never came back from their hiatus? why would you want to live in a world without the kids aren't alright or save rock and roll or sunshine riptide or love from the other side or miss missing you or young and menace or heaven iowa or jet pack blues?

I don't (and never will) get why so many "fans" are saying smfs sounds like "old fall out boy". This is literally only an album that exists because they made the post hiatus albums.
This album doesn't exist without sr&r, ab/AP and mania. elements of all their past albums are infused into this album, and that's their growth as a band. This is something so many other bands just don't do, and they make a "throwback" record and it sucks and they become irrelevant and boring as hell.
Also, can you imagine showing an emo kid from 2006 a song like "Hold me like a grudge" or "What a Time to be Alive"? They'd hate them because it wasn't scene enough lol
All this to say, there's not old/new fall out boy. There's just Fall Out Boy.

Everyone always brings up the Lovers fight as an example of Jotaro’s and Kakyoin’s unspoken understanding and trust in each other. But another instance that I see no one talk about in reference to this aspect of their relationship is the sumo scene in the Wheel of Fortune episode. Not only is it a super flirtatious moment between the two, it’s also one their first real moments where they fully trust that the other will comprehend their intentions/plan.
Keep in mind that this entire sequence of events happens within like 30 seconds real time after Polnareff pulls a Polnareff. Meaning everything that happens between Joot and Kak is improvised with, once again, confidence that they’ll immediately read each other perfectly.
When Kakyoin sends out Hierophant Green to stop their car’s fall into the ravine, Joseph worries that Kakyoin is making a rash and dangerous decision with his stand. But Kakyoin has to reassure Joseph that he knows what he’s doing, and to trust his intentions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then Kakyoin simply turns around to look at Jotaro with that smug face of his, silently expecting him to understand that his next step of the plan requires Star Platinum to pull some kind of crazy manoeuvre.
Tumblr media
And Jotaro of course fully understands him and does his part.
Tumblr media
All while being cool and flirty with his sumo metaphor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notice the way they gaze at each other afterwards! It’s a look of true trust, happiness, and pride that they know one another so well to the point that they no longer need words to communicate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Lovers arc later on just amplifies everything about their undeniable confidence in one another.
