As you worked on the shuttle in silence, you could feel Trip's presence behind you like a hovering fly. You had managed to avoid being around him for a while, and it had been a couple months since you two had a full conversation. Annoyance, and hurt sat in your chest anytime you were around him.
He retaliated against your annoyance towards him, with his own, and your previous close friendship turned into...well, whatever the hell it was now.
"Are you almost done with that?" His voice interrupted your thoughts.
You rolled your eyes softly "Why? You wanna check it over to make sure I didn't mess it up?"
Trip let out a soft sigh "Well if you aren't confident with your own work, I'd have no problem doing so."
Closing the panel with a bang, you looked back at him, your eyes saying everything you needed too.
"I was asking because I need more than two hands on this." He said with clear annoyance as he gestured at the busted door panel.
As you began helping him, the two of you sat in silence again. Watching his hands closely, you saw him begin working with an unnecessary wire.
"Stop."
Trip paused "Stop what?"
"Everything you're doing, all of it. That doesn't need work, it's fine, this is the part that's damaged."
"I need to get to this wire to re-direct the power."
"No you don't, look-" reaching over, you pointed out another wire "This one."
Trip let out a sigh "I could do it with this one too."
"Then that would lead to unnecessary work, and you'd risk shutting down the power to-"
"Alright, alright, I'll do it your way just stop."
You felt anger rush through your chest, "Why can you never admit when you are wrong about something?"
Trip looked at you and rose his brow "Why can you never let me do something my way?"
"Why does your way always lead to even more work?"
"It does not."
You rolled your eyes "We've already been here two hours longer than necessary because I've been letting you do things your way."
"My way may be slower than yours, but I get the work done with more efficiency."
As you opened your mouth to speak, a sudden loud beep tore both of your attention away, as you saw the shuttle door quickly clamp close with a loud bang.
"Oh great." You mumbled.
"Nice one." Trip said as he looked over at you.
You opened your mouth in offense "How the hell was that my fault?"
"If you had just let me do what I was doing that wouldn't have happened."
"It could have happened either way, why does it have to be anyone's fault? The shuttle is totaled Trip."
Backing away from the panel, you turned your back on him. He felt guilt ripple through his chest for a moment, realizing you were right.
After attempting to get the shuttle doors to open, and failing you smacked the door lightly.
Realizing you left your communicator with your bag outside, you let out a sigh "Please tell me you have your communicator on you?"
Trip froze as he realized he left his outside with yours. "Uhh."
You let out a sigh "Great."
Walking over to the front of the shuttle, you sat down. Trip watched as you tried to communicate with the Enterprise. As you lowered your head Trip let out a soft breath.
"Comms are down too aren't they?" You nodded your head in silence and he stood up "Of course they are."
"Just another thing we have to fix."
"Should I do it, or would it take too long?"
You repressed an eye roll a you mumbled in annoyance "Out of all the people I had to get stuck in here with, it had to be you?"
"There was a time you'd enjoy being stuck in here with me."
You felt your heart jolt at his comment as your ears burned lightly. Remembering what made you change how you felt about Trip, your heart ached a bit.
Your voice came out soft, almost a whisper. "Yeah. Well not anymore."
Trip felt his chest tighten at your comment as he let out a sigh, shaking his head. Feeling the past frustration and confusion wash over him again.
"Why is that again? You never told me why you suddenly hated me out of nowhere."
You stayed silent as you tried t work the comms, your heart beating faster with his words.
"We used to be pretty close, hell we'd spend half of our time together, then you suddenly acted like I was some-"
"Egotistical, stubborn liar?"
Trip lifted his hands in the air as you spoke "Yeah, like that. What the hell did I do?"
You spun around in your chair, anger clear on your face "You really don't know?"
Trip gestured with his arms "No, Y/n, I don't."
As you spoke, the memory of the overheard conversation replayed in your mind. Trips hurtful words poured from your mouth in a monotone voice.
"How could I like someone who was only brought on the Enterprise because Captain Archer owed a favor to an Admiral? Besides, we have nothing in common."
As you repeated the words Trip had regretted for months, the guilt he felt was multiplied as he felt mortification grip him.
"You heard that?" He mumbled.
"Yeah Trip, I heard that." There was obvious hurt in your voice as you turned away from him again.
Trip stared at you for a moment as he took in a deep breath. "That wasn't what you think, I didn't mean that."
You lowered your head for a moment before you turned back towards him again. "No? Then what was it?"
He stepped forward "Malcolm was ragging on me for having a crush on you. He got me all riled up and I wanted to get him off my back. I said those things as a lie, to make him stop. I don't even know why. I didn't believe those things. I know you're here because you're good at what you do. And the fact that we were so different is something I loved about you."
"So you said those things about me because you were embarrassed he thought you liked me? That's not much better Trip."
"No, no." He let out a frustrated sigh before moving to sit across from you. "I just didn't realize how obvious I was being about my feelings, and I guess I panicked because I didn't want Malcolm to out how I felt about you."
"...So you did have feelings for me?"
"Yeah, I did. I do. But then suddenly you were acting so different, and I just...retaliated, 'cause I thought maybe you found out and didn't feel the same."
"I did."
Trip's raised his brow "You did?"
"I did feel the same. That's why what I overheard you say, hurt so much. I wanted to talk to you about it, ask you why you said those things, but every time I saw you, I felt so embarrassed and hurt, and I just got angry."
You watched as Trip lowered his head. Looking back up at you he shook his head lightly as moved closer to you. Reaching over he took your hands in his.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I said those things, I'm sorry I was too much of a coward to tell Malcolm the truth. That I was head over heels for you. And I'm sorry for blaming you for the door, I know that wasn't your fault."
You smiled softly at him, knowing he was being genuine. Relief washed over you, as did regret. Maybe if you had spoken to him earlier, you wouldn't have felt like this for so long.
You looked down at his hands holding yours. "I'm sorry too, I should have talked to you about it."
He stared at you until you met his eyes. "I miss you." He said softly.
You smiled softly at him "I miss you too."
As your eyes locked, you felt a familiar tension rise up again. You no longer felt anger and hurt as you looked at him, but the familiar affection you thought was unrequited. As his eyes flicked down to your lips, you came to the full realization that it had not been unrequited at all.
Leaning in slowly, Trip stopped just an inch away from your lips, his nose pressing lightly against your own. He hesitated for only a moment before he pressed his lips against yours.
Your eyes shut as you returned the kiss, as it became deeper and more passionate. His hand came up and cupped your face as he pulled you even closer by the waist with his other hand. As your own hands came up to his neck, your breaths became heavy between the moments your lips broke away.
As three loud bangs echoed through the shuttle as someone hit the outside, you and Trip broke away out of alarm.
"You two still alive in there?" You heard Malcolm call out.
"Jesus." Trip muttered as you both took in deep breaths.
Suddenly as the shuttle doors slid open, you opened your mouth in confusion.
As Malcolm peaked in, he smiled. "You two kiss and make up or should I lock you in together for a bit longer?"
"What?" You and Trip said at the same time.
"Well I got tired of all the bickering between you two, so I wanted you to work it out. And I knew you would run away from each other the second you had the chance, so..."
"So...you locked us in here on purpose?" You finished.
He nodded "Yep. Now please tell me if worked."
"Turns out it never would of had to, if you hadn't ragged on me for my feelings in the first place."
Malcolm crossed his arms "Yeah, I kind of had a feeling about that. Sorry...But?"
You and Trip locked eyes for a moment, Trip, repressing a smile looked over at Malcolm "But, we're good now."
Malcolm smiled and nodded "Good. Now, you two actually gonna fix the shuttle before we die of old age?"
Grabbing a nearby rag, as Trip grabbed a wrench, you both chucked them at Malcolm as he ran away with a laugh.
Shaking your head with amusement and annoyance, Trip stood up and walked to the door.
"Little weasel." He mumbled, as he looked back at you. "I guess we do have to finish fixing this thing."
You nodded and stood back up, watching as Trip walked up to you again. He stared at you with a soft smile.
"After we do, how about we get some dinner and talk. I missed talking to you."
You nodded with a smile "That sounds good."
His eyes flicked to your lips briefly before he smiled "Good."

Enterprise F Headcanon
So on the Picard season finale, I loved everything...but the decommissioning of the Enrerprise F in favor of the G. It put the Enterprise F out of service nearly a decade before Star Trek Online. But we are Star Trek fans, and when we don't like something, we headcanon around it. I’ll wite my headcanon about the Titan A/Enterprise G headcanon later (if there's interest), but here's my headcanon on the F's return for the game.
The Enterprise G serves faithfully up to early 2409, when she is scheduled for refit to replace her older parts with the latest tech. While Starfleet was loath to have the Enterprise out of service during a conflict with the Klingon Empire, some of the Enterprise's components were nearing 40 years old.
The Utopia Planitia Yards had been re-opened in 2405, and the Enterprise G was to be their most important project yet. When the G pulled into drydock, the yards had the new components already on site, with a projected duration of two months.
That would change when a KDF fleet led by Commander Alveck attacked Utopia Planitia using codes stolen from the USS Dewitt. This would have undoubtedly been a complete loss for Starfleet, had it not been for the Enterprise G. Captain Seven of Nine and several of her command crew had been visiting their ship to inspect the progress when the attack came. The Enterprise was warp incapable, but her captain had no intention of running.
The KDF force had expected a defenseless target due to the stolen codes. Instead they found Starfleet's enraged flagship standing between them and victory.
The attacking force vastly outnumbered the Constitution III, and she couldn't protect the entire yard, but the Klingon quickly grew frustrated as ship after ship fell to the Enterprise's fire. But the Enterprise was taking heavy damage and her shields finally collapsed. The bird of prey Daqtagh locked torpedoes on the crippled flagship, certain of their victory, but it was not to be.
Lieutenant Ash'ara of the bird of prey D'tek watched in shock as the Daqtagh vanished in a ball of fire and plasma, only for the bow of the U.S.S. Riptide to emerge as she charged the Klingon fleet. The Riptide was a sister ship of the Enterprise G under the command of Commander Hazel Rendevez. She had found the stricken Dewitt, destroying the KDF ship left behind to scuttle her, and pursued the KDF fleet to Utopia Planitia. She dropped out of warp through the Datagh, destroying it instantly.
The Riptide and Enterprise dove upon Commander Alvek's flagship, disabling it with their combined fire, before turning to face the D'tek.
With further Starfleet reinforcements appearing on long range sensors, Lieutenant Ash'ara was forced to order a withdrawal.
Starfleet had repelled the attack, but at high cost.
Multiple ships, both under repairs and incomplete hulls, had been destroyed. Multiple drydocks had been reduced to molten scrap...and the Enterprise had taken critical damage.
The Enterprise G had to be towed to another drydock by her sister; she had suffered major structural damage during the battle. While repairable, it would have taken over a year if the yards had been at full strength. With so many docks destroyed, and the new components meant for Enterprise destroyed, the estimates were closer to two.
Starfleet was down their flagship, at a time they desperately needed her. Morale had dropped drastically after word of the attack had got out. If the fleet learned the Enterprise was out of service...
Fortunately Commodore Geordi LaForge had a solution. Following the completion of the Enterprise D's restoration in 2403, he had turned his attention to another ship of the name. The Odyssey class Enterprise F was nearly operational again, with Utopia Planetia's help, she could enter service within the original timeframe for the G's refit.
The F was flown to Utopia Planitia under heavy escort, the yard workers beginning their work almost before she stopped moving. Command had ordered the Enterprise restoration to be the yard's highest priority.
The unexpected revelation of Undine influence brought a temporary ceasefire to the conflict before the F's restoration could be completed, but Starfleet pushed through the project anyway.
This proved to be a wise decision, as during the final week of the refit, Deep Space 9 was taken by a temporally displaced dominion fleet. The newly recommissioned Odyssey class Enterprise would lead the battle to retake the station. Captain Seven of Nine had deferred command, instead choosing to oversee the repair of her Enterprise. Instead Captain Va'kel Shon of the recently lost USS Belfast would be given command of Starfleet's returning flagship.
Throughout the rest of 2409 to the end of 2410, the Enterprise F served with distinction in the leadup to, and duration of the Iconian war. The final battle of the war saw the Enterprise lead the defense of the Sol System against the Iconian Armada, taking critical damage in the process.
2411 dawned to see the Enterprises once again switch roles, the newly refitted Enterprise G relieveing the battered Odyssey.
There was consideration given to the idea for retiring the Enterprise F again, but the idea was dismissed as impractical due to the massive losses Starfleet had sustained during the war.
The Enterprise F was refitted to the new Yorktown subclass specifications, bringing the 24 year old vessel back to the forefront of Starfleet technology.
There was the question of what Starfleet would do with two starships named Enterprise in service at the same time, but the debate was silenced by Admiral Kathryn Janeway, who rolled her eyes and commented that starfleet needed the extra luck given the last few years.
As of 2412 both the Yorktown class U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-F and the Constitution III Class refit U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-G are in service. The 1701-F currently is the active flagship of Starfleet. The Enterprise G has recently departed on a long term Exploration mission.

Bakers Dozen: Canon Ships I want to see in Star Trek Online
I love Star Trek Online, and one of my favorite features is the sheer number of ships you can fly from in the shows. From the 22nd century to the 32nd century, there are literally hundreds of choices. But there are still many canon starships I’ve have not had the chance to make poor finacial decisions for. So what better choice for the first round of Baker’s Dozen.
Here’s 12 canon Starships (and one honorable mention) I want in Star Trek Online.
Lets start with the Honorable mention:
The Consitution III Class
Picard Season III’s hero ship, the affectionatly dubbed NeoConnie bears the distiction of being both the Titan A and Enteprise G. Those who read my Enteprise F headcanon also encountered the USS Riptide, an early command of my Captain. Why then is she only an honorable mention? Because the developers have already announced they are working on her. *sighs* shes gonna be a promo ships isn’t she?
1. The Federation Class
First appearing in Franz Joseph's Technical Manual, this design first appeared on screen as background display’s in The Wrath of Khan and The Search for Spock. More recently, Star Trek Picard saw model’s of this legendary starship in Ten Forward, alonside ships such as voyager and Enterprise D. Considering my flagship is a Gal-X, this would be a wonderful predecessor. Plus TOS ships are always welsome
2. The Romulan Bomber
In Picard Season 1 we were introduced to the Romulan ships with this beauty. An elegant design with blade like wings, it instantly caught my heart. Instantly recogniable as a Romulan vessel while being a new and distinctive shape, it was a perfect evolution of what came before.More Romulan rep is always appreciated. C-Store? Please?
3.The Niagra Class
One of my favorite ships in all of Star Trek, the Niagra class is a three nacelled cruiser blending elements of the ambassador and galaxy lines. Perhaps uniquely, the third nacelle is underslung. She has only appeared as wreckage, most notably the USS Princeton, lost at the Battle of Wolf 359, nut several other STO ships have the same origin. The Cheyenne and New Orleans both come from the same boneyard fleet. Also a updated Princeton Class to match the Lafeyette and Andromeda would be gorgeous.
4. Lower Decks BackGround Ship
This unamed Ship class from Lower Decks is beggin for someone to realize her full potential, maybe a desendant of the Crossfeild Class? I loved her from the moment I saw her, and desperatly want to know more.
5.The Yeager Class
No this is not a meme, its one of my favorite background ships. She has an isane amount of screentime, as shes in stock footage used alot in DS9. She served throughout the Dominion War. Why the weird hull? In my headcanon, she was built as a proof of concept for a tactical sister class to the Intrepid. (This will eventually be a full headcanon post). Once she proved succesful (for what she was), the go ahead was given to desgin a production version with a properly designed secondary hull. The outbreak of hostilities saw the Yeagar pushed into service, as she was a fully combat capable vessel. Also, the amazing Pundus already designed the 2412 variant.
6.The Mayflower class
A ship from the Kelvin timeline, the namesake of this ADORABLE starship was lost at the Battle of Vulcan in 2258. We need more Kelvin ships, and it is a crime this sweet gal isn’t in game already.
7.The Duderstadt class
You knew. I knew. The Pakleds knew. A modified Bill Krause design, much like the Titan/Enterprise herself, the USS Intrepid made a daring, intimidating, and awe inpiring debut in Star Trek Picard Season 3. Its rare to see a new ship so univserally loved today. But she deserves it. The only bad thing is she’s prolly gonna be the lockbox ships.
8.Jupp Class
This Gal appears waaayyy in the back of a DS9 episode according to the art deparment. Good enough for me. Shes a clear member of the refit family, and is an obvious choice to add to the Miranda/Clarke/Light Cruiser Frame. Always could use TMP rep
9. The Intrepid Type
Really? This isn’t in game already? How?!? Please? Enterpise Era Rep? I haven’t even watched Enterprise yet (oops) and I know this ship!
10.Springfeild Class
Another ship lost at Wolf 359, common, pretty small science ship? Complete the fleet? It could literally be the Chekov class.
11.Curry Class
This class appears in Deep Space 9, and features tow variants with different Nacelles arrangements. TMP Carrier anyone?
12. Block 2 Constitution Class (Kelvin Timeline)
I just want to talk. Its been 7 years since this beautiful ships arrived, and theres no offical models, and no STO Release...WWWHWHHHHYYYYY????
I love this ship. Its my favorite lettered Enteprise. I need her. Shes the only canon Enterprise besides the G not in game, and they’re working on the G. Best design in the Kelvin Timeline, and we don’t have her. I would totally spend stupid money on her, but I can’t.
Please STO, show mercy.
Hope yall enjoyed this first Baker’s Dozen, see you next week!
