OK, so what started as a whimsical reply to this post quickly grew into its own thing, so to avoid shoving my own idea of an origin story on them i decided to post it separately. (Feel free to grab it if you do like it, @quinnred).

SPIDER-PLANET

Planet Parker's unofficial designation honors Commander Benjamin Parker, the first astronaut from Earth to set foot on it as the leader and sole landing member of the CosmicEx commercial research expedition. Unfortunately for Parker himself, CosmicEx decided to cut costs by reducing the radiation shielding of his suit (hey, if the planet has life then its background radiation is obviously safe, right?). Before he succumbed to acute radiation poisoning, he did manage to set up and release CosmicEx's autonomous exploration drones, which told Earth the rest of the story:

Parker was not the only explorer on board. The same corner-cutting mindset which killed him had allowed a large population of hobo spiders to settle in the pod's frame before the launch. The sole survivor of the space trip, an egg-bearing female, also exited the pod in search of sustenance.

Undergoing rapid changes due to radiation and a new, food-rich environment, the invasive hobo spiders caused a drastic shift in their new world's ecosystem, becoming much more than apex predators - but did not remain unaffected themselves. Soon, their symbiosis with a local microorganism species shifted them from solitary predation to a hive-mind, their webs rapidly growing like a nervous system of the planet. Once the whole world became a superstructure of life, the genetic memories of their spacefaring progenitor spider and of Commander Parker, his body absorbed by the planet's ecosystem, ignited the spark of sapience in the nascent mega-organism.

What the drones did not say, however, is this: now self-aware and individual in its collectivity, Planet Parker has set sights on Earth - or rather, CosmicEx, the corporate parasite destroying whole worlds as easily as individual lives in a neverending campaign to satisfy its CEO's god complex. Your friendly local cluster Spider-Planet will no longer stand for this.
