Today was the last day of the exams I've been preparing for so long. I'm exhausted but relieved that the whole thing is over. Regardless of the future results, I'm happy and free!

After a 2-year break, I can finally return to my favourite hobby: learning languages! I cannot wait to use all the resources I've hoarded over the months.

This year, I'll focus on Spanish 🇪🇸 and Japanese 🇯🇵.

I’m so so so happy I’ve done 70hrs of purposeful Spanish listening and I’ve gotten from barely understanding superbeginner Spanish but having an ehh grasp on grammar, to trying out an intermediate Spanish podcasts (Spanish con juan) and I can understand the gist?? This is good?? In three months?? I can’t wait to see how much better I get after a year at it

Ones I can remember easily: English, Spanish, French, Vietnamese, Chinese, Italian, German, Japanese, Taiwan Chinese Mandarin, Hawaiian.

Ones that I pretty much have, but need to practice: Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, ASL.

Ones that I’m struggling with a bit: Russian, Hindi.

cuando estaba en ecuador el verano pasado, compré un libro viejo de cuentos de hada para niños. ahora (finalmente) lo estoy leyendo, y quería compartir en este blog algunos de los poemas que hay en el libro. es una buena manera de practicar leyendo en español, y todos los poemas tienen ilustraciones muy bonitas.

este primer poema es muy corto y no necesitaba buscar ninguna palabra en el diccionario cuando lo leí por primera vez, pero para los otros poemas voy a incluir una lista de vocabulario también.

Una cosa de la que rara vez en blogs de estudio se habla es de las otras dimensiones que tenemos como seres humanos, no somos solamente las personas que estudian y hacen resúmenes elaborados o aprenden idiomas; también cumplimos algún rol dentro de nuestra familia, tenemos amistades o parejas, tenemos trabajos, actividades extra, hacemos política, en fin, hacemos mucho más de lo que mostramos en nuestros blogs dedicados al estudio.

A veces me pasa que hubo un día que me dediqué solo a la política o solo a trabajar y no tengo nada relacionado al estudio que subir, pero eso no significa que no haya hecho nada.

Es necesario partir por dejar de compararse y dejar de buscar ser un estudiante perfecto porque no podemos negar nuestras otras áreas de interés, nuestras otras dimensiones como seres humanos. No siempre vamos a estar dedicados gran parte del día al estudio y está bien, lo que logras en otros ámbitos también son logros, incluso si son a costa de lo que pudieron haber sido momentos de estudio.
