You laid in Jake’s bed, snuggled inside his mountain of pillows and blankets, scrolling mindlessly through twitter while his stream played on your laptop in the background. You had made a point of trying to watch his streams as often as possible, even when you were waiting in his bed for him. To you, it felt like a way to get closer to him– and support him, of course. You had been together for around six months at this point, and you still weren’t public.

You had been friends with Jake for a couple months before you started dating, so people had seen you in some of his videos, or in public together. But when you guys started dating, Jake had been the one to lean toward keeping the relationship private. Since his last relationship and breakup had been so public, you understood why. He wanted to protect you from the immediate, overwhelming fame that would come with publicly dating him for as long as possible. You had already gained around ten thousand followers on instagram, just from people knowing you were friends with him and Johnnie. If you went public, the increase in attention would spike even more drastically. You had tried to comfort him by telling him you could handle it, you even thought it could be fun, but he was still nervous. He just really didn’t want to see you get hurt.

Obviously you respected his choice, you loved him and the only thing that mattered to you was being with him, publicly or not. But sometimes you wished it could be a “normal” relationship. Sure, social media’s fake and none of it matters, but when you see your friends posting with their partners, flaunting their love for each other, and know you can’t, you feel a spike of jealousy drive through your heart. He couldn’t even comment on your instagram posts like couples usually do. Commenting would cause speculation, and speculation would lead to people trying to find you two in public and post pictures or videos– and people were already speculating. Any time you were featured in one of his videos, hundreds of people would comment about the looks you had exchanged, or how you were flirting.

So now you had to be sneaky about when and where you hung out, and who was around. It was hard, you didn’t like having to hide your relationship from nearly everybody– aside from your closest friends– but you were both so in love you’d do whatever it took to be together. Jake had promised that one day he would go public with you, he just wasn’t sure when. You had told him time and time again that it doesn’t matter to you if you’re public, you just want him. He could see right through that lie, of course. He knew you too well.

This afternoon, Jake was in his car trying new candies from 7/11, as requested by his viewers in an instagram poll. You glanced up from your phone every couple of minutes to admire your boyfriend’s face through the screen. He was wearing pajamas, his hair was unkempt and he looked a little tired, but he still looked good. Then again, he always looked good in your eyes.

You smile at your laptop as he dramatically gags at whatever candy he was tasting, “Ewwww… ewwwwww!! What the fuck, bro?? Whoever suggested that is insane ‘cause that tasted like fuckin’ horse dick dude!!” You chuckle and roll your eyes, he was so immature. It was something you loved about him, that he knew how to bring out your more laid-back, extroverted side. He could make you laugh harder than anyone, and his goofy, immature sense of humor was the perfect balance to your dry, sarcastic humor.

He holds another candy up to the camera, it's some type of chocolate bar with gummy worms inside of it. He unwraps it and takes a bite. He doesn’t look too sure at first but after he chews a few more times his face lights up, “You know who would love this candy?” he asks, reading the chat replies for a couple seconds before continuing, “My girlfriend.”

Your heart rate jumps and you sit up, grabbing the laptop and pulling it onto your lap. He’s smiling at the camera, blushing slightly. The chat is going insane:

user1: OMFG WHAT??

user2: girlfriend??? im sorry i think i missed a chapter 😭😭

user3: I BET ITS Y/N OMG

user4: it’s DEF y/n… they’ve been hanging out SO MUCH recently🤭

user5: JAKE YOU AND Y/N WOULD BE SO CUTE TOGETHER I HOPE ITS HER🥰

Jake picks up his phone and begins tapping, as your phone lights up with his name on the screen, and you pick up. “Hey babe,” he says, leaving the phone off speaker, so the viewers can’t hear your voice.

“Hey, what’s up?” you respond, trying to sound as normal as possible, as if your heart isn’t about to leap out of your chest. You couldn’t believe he’d done it.

“I’m trying these 7/11 candies and I just tried this chocolate with gummy worms in it and I think you’d like it. You wanna try it?”

“Sure! I’m coming out right now, be there in a sec,” you say, practically twitching with excitement.

“‘Kay!” Jake says, and hangs up, as you throw yourself out of the pillow and blanket fort you’ve been laying in for the last hour, and start walking outside.

“She’s coming to try it guys,” you hear his voice echo from your laptop as you jog down the hallway.

You slide into the passenger side of Jake’s car, and he gazes at you longingly, giving you a soft smile. “I was just telling chat how my girlfriend would love this candy, and I knew I had to get you out here,” he says.

“Well I guess you’re lucky I was already at your house, huh,” you smile back at him, leaning your elbow against the center console and tilting your head towards his. He does the same and closes the gap between your faces in a quick kiss, before handing you the chocolate bar.

Before you can take a bite, Jake giggles, “Look, they’re freaking the fuck out.”

You pause to read the chat as well and there are so many comments that you can barely read anything. You manage to make out:

user6: I FUCKING KNEW IT

user7: ITS Y/N ITS Y/N WE WERE RIGHT ALL ALONG

user8: theyre so cute awwwwww

user9: i want what they have omg😭😭😭

You giggle with him, and say, “I think I’m freak-out worthy.”

“Oh you’re definitely freak-out worthy, y/n,” he says matter-of-factly.

You finally take a bite of the chocolate bar and chew. After swallowing, you lift the bar up to the camera, “Go buy this right fucking now.”

“You like it, babe?” Jake asks.

“I fucking love it!”

“I knew it!” Jake says proudly.

“You know me well,” you say through a big grin.

“I mean…I would hope so, at this point, y/n,” he teases.

You laugh and lick your lips, “Do I have chocolate on my face?”

He takes more than a few seconds to respond, clearly using this as an opportunity to admire every inch of your face, rather than search for melted chocolate. Finally, he says, “No you’re good. You look stunning as usual.”

“Shut up,” you blush, swatting at his bicep.

He grins and asks, “You wanna go wait inside for me? I’ll be in soon.”

“Yeah, sounds good! I’m gonna go watch your stream in your bed now,” you peck him on the mouth and he pulls away, giving you a confused look.

“You watch my streams?” he asks.

“Yeah? I never told you? I watch all your streams,” you smile, “I like seeing all the silly antics you get into.”

“Awww, that’s so cute,” he says, shaking his head and letting out a small laugh, “I don’t know how we’ve been together six months and you never told me you watch my streams.”

“I seriously thought I told you!” you laugh, and he motions with his finger for you to come closer. You lean in and he kisses you on the cheek, “You’re so sweet,” he smiles, satisfied with himself.

“You’re sweeter,” you reply as you step out of the car, “I’ll be upstairs!”

You walk back into the house, and head upstairs to Jake’s bedroom. After about ten more minutes of streaming Jake says goodbye, and you hear him walking upstairs to enter his bedroom. He leaps onto his bed and sits on your lap, leaning down to drop kisses wherever they land.

“It was so hard for me to keep that a secret all day!” he says between kisses.

“I had no idea!” you laugh, squeezing your eyes shut and smiling as he kisses all over your face and head. He lingers longer on your lips, before settling down next to you under the covers, pulling you in close.

“I couldn’t hide us any longer, y/n. I wanna be able to do couple shit without feeling guilty. And I know you can handle it, I never should’ve been worried. Whatever happens, we’ll get through it together.”

“Jake, I know you just wanted to protect me. And you didn’t want a repeat of what happened last time, I get that. I hope you didn’t feel pressured to confirm anything just because you knew I wanted to.”

“No! That’s not it at all! Y/n… I love you so much… and I just wanted everyone to know. I was tired of hiding, and I knew you were too, so I decided to just do it. Fuck what everyone else thinks, right?” he asks.

“Fuck ‘em,” you smile– wrapping an arm around his waist– and lean in to kiss him again.

Physical Stuff: -vincent is half chinese or whatever the FF equivalent is. nothing is ever mentioned about his mother so no one can prove he isn't. (just let me have this one SE) -vincent's cloak/cape and headband are not fabric, they are some kind of organic extension of himself, that he has control over. though sometimes the cloak just does things and vincent is unconscious of it, like a cat twitching its tail -because of his circulation issues, due to his heart being replaced with protomateria, vincent has severe orthostatic hypotension (stand-up dizzies). cid is used to just catching him as he pitches over and moving on, without remarking on it -vincent is a mass of scars and mutilations (replaced parts, missing organs, etc.) which is why he covers his body entirely from the neck down with all that leather armor and gloves. -cid is a huge fan of vincent's monster hand because it has claws and he loves back scratches

Sexy stuff below the cut. And more, I got a little carried away.

Sexy Stuff: -vincent is anxious bordering on panicked to show cid his body, at first, because he thinks it's hideous and repulsive, and honestly there's just a lot of shame associated with being the victim of torture and systematic medical abuse -what vincent does not know is how much cid loves scars. like he fucking LOVES them (to the point where it's almost a scar fetish) -the first time they sleep together, cid slowly undresses vincent, little by little, touches and kisses all his scars, sincerely and fervently adores all the parts of him he thinks are ugly and horrifying, and makes him feel beautiful for the first time in his life -when cid sees vincent completely naked, he tears up because he's so beautiful to him, and he can't believe he got this lucky

Family Stuff (I don't usually do kids in fic, but i think these two would be cute with one) -shera is the bro of all time and is their surrogate when they have a baby -projected rendering of what the baby will look like, created by the friend group:

-cid and vincent did that thing where they mixed the sperm donations because they didn't want to know who would 'really be the father' cloud: [looking at their black-haired, crimson-eyed baby] uh…

-their daughter is named olivia. vincent calls her olivia. that is her name. -cid settles firmly and immovably on ollie, which everyone else winds up calling her too

-causing several people to lose egregious sums of money in the group betting pool, ollie's first word is not 'fuck'. that is her second word. her first word is papa. well it was 'bapa' but cid insists that counts

-baby ollie doesn't like anyone besides her daddies but cloud, and sticks herself to him like a little leech whenever he's around cid: hey ollie, who am i [points to self] ollie: bapa cid: who's that [points to vincent] ollie: dada cid: who's that [points to cloud] ollie: mama cid: no--

not to romanticize my mental issues but sometimes having adhd is very useful because today during a meeting that could have been an email i kept thinking about crabs wearing small tophats and having little dancing parties and how they'd sound in tap shoes.

and when my boss was like "raquel what do you think?"

i was like "well, i think the others have made good points about this, of course, and i'd be happy to circle around later on it, but i'd love to take a moment and resonate with this before offering my own suggestion. i want to hear what others think before anticipating the client's needs."

and then i went back to not listening but this time it was imagining snails that joust.

Karen has four older brothers and this is Ross! He's the second oldest and he looks rather polite and smiles a lot and when he's at work he can behave most of the time... but he really has such a foul mouth it puts Right to shame.

And Karen when she was a kid couldn't pronounce S's and they sounded like Z's. So when her brothers would be leaving for school she would say "enjoy zool" and just. Could NEVER say Ross's name correctly so he told her to just call him Oz. And it stuck but only with Karen. She's the only one to use it and no one else is allowed.

Man, I still remember participating in one of the many jjba zines that I took part in and how my piece was placed as the first page (for the second time) and how one of my mutuals/artists that I’ve always admired, hit me with the “oh… you’re on the front page again… 😅…” like man, that kind of killed me lmfao. I never got over it like man, what was that about.
