#some of my favorite t100 fics

Today I worked a bit more on this oooold Bellarke fic that I've been on-and-off planning for years and I have decided to outsource some of my brainstorming because I need some help!
So, I have two questions.
What are your favorite enemies-to-lovers tracks? What sort of scenes or moments are you expecting or hoping to see in a slowburn enemies-to-lovers narrative?
What would you add to the background of a story taking place in an idealized small/cute town? What sort of characters or character types? What sort of b- and c-plots? This can be in general or for T100 specifically. Only caveats are I have 2 background pairings already settled (Octaven and Briller) and I don't acknowledge seasons 5-7 at all.
I know question 2 is very vague and that is why I am having a hard time with it! Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

hello my darlings! it’s that time of year again, where everything is pink and fluffy and heart-shaped. last year i did a countdown series of some of my favorite ships, which was challenging but fun! but this year i thought i might do something a little more interactive. that’s where you come in!
this celebration is a little mix of a follow forever and a creator game. the part where you come in is down below! it’s a mix of popular content creator memes and some extra goodies i threw in for fun, and all you have to do is pick whatever one calls to you and send me an ask with the mentioned information, and voila, you’ll get a custom fanwork! how fun is that? not only is it a way to give back to my little community, but it also strengthens my creativity, so i think that’s a win-win, no? plus there’s options for both visual and written content, woo! ✨
take a look below and then send something in here!
color palette meme: send me 🎨 + a color palette and a character, ship, show, movie, etc. and you’ll get a gifset inspired by it timestamp roulette: send me ⏱ + an episode or movie and you’ll get a gifset of random moments make me choose: send me 👯 + two (or more) characters, ships, episodes, shows, movies, etc. and you’ll get a gifset of my fave! wardrobe meme: send me 👗 + a character, movie, or show and you’ll get a gifset of my favorite outfit superlative meme: send me 📚 + a superlative (best smile, cutest couple, etc.) and you’ll get a gifset of who i think best fits the theme writing prompt: send me 🖋 + a prompt for a one-shot fic! can be as detailed as you want, as long as you include the ship, character, fandom, etc.
as for the follow forever part of this post, i suspect this might get a little long, so i’ll be putting it underneath the cut! but don’t worry, i love you all imensely and am so happy you’re here. i might get mushy, but hey, valentine’s is a good excuse right?
love fest aka follow forever is down below!
@togetherkru my darling stef! or as i call you in my head, my partner in crime clarke. first of all, i’m so thankful and lucky to have you over at @dailyclarkegriffin, i really had no idea what i was getting myself into and i really can’t thank you enough for the help! secondly, i honestly can’t imagine being in this community without someone as wonderful and positive and supportive as you. i’m sure i’ve said it before but you really are such a light in this community and i hope you know how much we appreciate you! a sunflower for a sunflower 🌻💛✨
@bellamyblake iva, i can’t express how grateful i am for the support you’ve given me from the start. whether it’s my own creations or bcso or just a chat now and then, you’ve always been around to support me and even offer me kind words when i wasn’t at my best, and i hope you know that truly means a lot to me! as someone who came back to the t100 fandom later on, it could feel a bit like being the new kid coming in during the middle of the semester, but your support has and continues to make me feel included 💙
@klarkegriffin lynn, obviously everything i said about dcg goes for you too, the love and support i got when opening the doors was so lovely and my little clarke partners are just two wonderful people honestly. on top of that, i wanna talk about what you’ve done in the community. i know you do a lot and keep up a steady flow of ways to keep the creativity in the community alive, and i hope you know that it is greatly appreciated. i don’t have to tell you that this fandom can be tough, but the projects you’re involved with have done so much! you’re a wonderful part of the community and i’m glad we have you 💞
@queen-of-the-wallflowers15 i don’t think we’ve actually talked here on tumblr! but it felt silly not to mention you when all the work you and lynn do has helped me and my writing process so tremendously. i honestly don’t know where the bellarke writing community would be if not for you two. bellarke hub has been an absolute godsend for me and my writing process, even when i feel like i’m in a total rut, seeing the prompts and the microfics and everything are really so inspiring and have helped me when i thought i couldn’t even write a single sentence. plus i love all the writing you do yourself! basically this is a big thank you 📚💜
@infp-with-all-the-feelings @carrieeve @spacebell @ninappon @igotbellarkeforthat @bookwormforalways @moreflowersthanweeds @pendragaryen @natassakar my sunflower kru! this is getting long even under the read more so i just wanna mention the bellarke gang that keeps this fandom alive and together, you’re all grand and thanks for including me even though i don’t always show up 😂💗 (sorry if i forgot anyone! i went by my mentions but just know i love and appreciate you all!)
HONORABLE MENTION TO ALL THESE BABES 😍☀️🌻💛✨

Dear fanfic readers...
I want to start this by saying I love you all. Seriously. I honestly wouldn’t still be writing fanfic if you guys didn’t exist. And I think that’s probably true of a lot of writers. We thrive on readers enjoying our work, leaving kudos/comments, reblogging, sharing with friends, etc. And 99% of people who read/comment don’t fall into this category.
But I have to address something. Er, I have to address a few somethings. Tonight, one of my dear friends received a nasty comment on one of their fics. It was, frankly, a mean rant disagreeing about the choices said writer made in the chapter update. But what really struck me was what they said at the end of the comment—that they admire the author’s work and that they are excited about future chapters. Which to me, meant that they meant their comment as a constructive criticism rather than to be purposefully hateful.
Which leads me to my first “something”:
Long comments about things you personally disagree with in a story is not constructive criticism.
I say this as someone who gives actual constructive criticism to writers for a living. Calling someone’s work horrible or hollow or misguided or flat or [insert long list of other adjectives I’ve seen non-writers call someone’s work] isn’t constructive criticism. It’s not constructive. It’s just mean.
Moreover, constructive criticism has to be founded on mutual trust. If you’re commenting on ao3 or Tumblr or Twitter on someone’s work who did not ask you specifically for constructive criticism, that trust isn’t there.
You’re welcome to your opinions about someone’s story or work. But you are not welcome to share those negative opinions when you don’t have consent. Even when you DO have consent, that constructive criticism needs to be well-structured to include real reasons why something isn’t working in a story (”I don’t personally agree with this choice” is not an example of a real reason) and ways to improve. That respect is the very least a writer deserves when someone is asked (notice how I bolded asked, bc it’s fucking important) to give feedback on work that they spent time and effort on.  Which leads me to my next “something”:
Fanfic is provided for free, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t cost something.
I saw a post on here recently (linked here) that talked about how fanfic is provided at no cost to the reader, but that doesn’t mean it’s “free” for the writer. And this is something I think some non-writers don’t quite understand.
Writing a story—whether it be based on characters from a TV show like this fic or based on original characters of your own creation—is a lot of fucking work. It takes hours of your time and so much mental energy. There's the planning and the plotting and the actual writing and the editing and the working up the nerve to post it so that others can see it and hopefully like it. And all of that labor, all of that emotional/mental/physical labor is done for free. So that the stories in our heads and hearts can exist and so that readers can enjoy them.
EVERY choice is thought out. Every. Single. One. Every conversation is considered, every dialogue tag is placed with intention, every choice the character makes is one we make first. And do we always agree with the choices our characters make? Do these choices always perfectly mirror what would likely happen in real life or even if another write were to have written the story? No, not always. But damn if we didn't have a reason for letting them make them regardless. Every facet of a story is considered—especially for longer fics.
So hours of work and a mountain of emotional, mental, and physical energy is put into a fic. Writers open up a door for readers to see into our minds and hearts and souls for these stories. And the very least readers can do is tell us when those stories resonates, and be kind and respectful regardless of if it resonates or not. Deciding to shit on a story because you don't personally agree with the direction the story is headed? That's heartbreaking. And irritating. And frankly unmotivating.
Which brings me to my final “something” of this post:
Negativity and indifference are killing Fandom.
We’ve all seen how Fandom (and I’m not just talking about one specific fandom, I’m talking about capital-F Fandom as a whole) has gone downhill in recent years. There’s less engagement with works, less discussion happening between readers/creators/writers/casual viewers of a fandom, and more writers/creators leaving Fandom behind.
That’s mostly because of negativity and indifference.  There are a lot of posts about how people (and I include myself in this because I really need to do better, and I’ve been trying) need to make a mindful effort to comment on fics you like, kudos fics you like, reblog, retweet, converse with your favorite writers/creators, etc. So I won’t harp on that again here.
But negativity is another culprit here. Putting a fic or a piece of art out into the world is terrifying. More terrifying to some than others, but there are nerves and anxieties that go into it no matter who you are. And unlike paid authors publishing books or showrunners air tv shows, the only thing we get in return are the kudos/comments/reblogs/retweets from readers. That’s it. So when we put hours of time and effort and those little pieces of our soul into works only to be met with indifference or hateful comments (even when they are misguided attempts at constructive criticism), it makes the benefit of all that work less and less appealing.
I’ve seen too many writers abandon works and leave fandoms (including t100 fandom, specifically the bellarke fandom) because of this. And I hate it. We have too many talented writers and creators for that. Moreover, the world needs those talented writers and creators to keep making things they love for it to keep spinning (a topic for another long Tumblr post).
So how can Fandom be a better place for writers/creators?
First thing’s first, participate. See a piece of art you loved? Reblog it. Read a fic you adored? Comment something to that effect. Find authors or creators you admire? Reach out to say hey! Or just hit the follow button and interact with posts if you’d rather not say hi. We appreciate all of it and love you immensely for it.
But the kicker once you start participating is doing it mindfully. Think about what you’re commenting and whether it’s helpful or harmful. A long string of emojis bc you can’t put how much you loved a fic into words? We love to see it. Novel-length tags in your reblogs about your favorite lines? Will probably make our day. DMs or asks about upcoming chapters or fic ideas? We’ll scream our joy and talk your ear off.
A rant about how you thought the characterization of Bellamy in this fic was off? That’s not helpful if the writer didn’t ask you specifically for that kind of feedback. And hateful comments about how a fic needs to be updated sooner or how a certain update didn’t mean your qualifications for how you personally wanted a story to continue? Definitely not helpful (and a honestly a dick move).
I have no qualms about speaking on behalf of all fanfic writers when I say that we LOVE every single person who reads our shit. We thrive on people reading our stories and then telling us and their followers how much they loved it. No (kind) comment goes unnoticed or unappreciated.
So please, please, please spread kindness whenever you can to writers and creators. <3
All my love,
A fanfic writer who is terrified that negativity is going to drive all my fandom friends away, and who might get carpal tunnel if I have to write another novel-length rebuttal to someone being an ass on AO3 to one of my friends

186,434 words <3 i’ve been active on ao3 since 2014 so let that tell u abt my slow writing skills
✧ how many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
i’m gonna say around ?? like 20?? some of them are part of the same universe (like comics marvel vs mcu, comics dc vs dceu, or soc vs tgv) but i’ll count it separately?? but anyways: grishaverse, marvel, dc, alex stern, merlin, t100, pjo, etc etc)

most of my fics have pretty happy (ish) endings??? maybe we could meet again somewhere (percabeth) bc i killed percy off but like. it’s still ended fine

the general similarity btwn all of these is the prose HITS i will absolutely be an egomaniac abt this. august slipped away is probably my Peak for this year . . . sing, o muse is one of my favs bc i melded that greek tragedy play aspect w stage directions . . . the birth of a monster is just sexy prose & after the wake is the only fic i’ve ever written that has made me physically tear up while writing it

Fic Writer Review
Ok, I could’ve sworn I was tagged by @aleksandrachaev but now the notification has disappeared? Idk what the hellsite is up to by making me think I have notifications, but I’m going to do this anyway 😂 😂 . I haven’t looked too closely at my stats and everything in a while, so this will be fun!
1. how many works do you have on AO3?
77. But please don’t ask about the number of WIPs I have  😅
2. what’s your total AO3 word count?
208,442. Huh. I thought it would be more? Oh well!
3. how many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Three. One random one shot for each ER and T100. The rest are all AoS!
Actually, wait. Since Kat says (and I agree whole heartedly!) that Black Widow is it’s own fandom, then make that 4! I wrote a one shot of an alternate end credit scene for that movie!
4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos? (I’m not including the ones I have cowritten)
Everything’s Changing 372 Kudos-  Talk about a wild idea I had watching a movie from the 90s. Anywayyyy. Philinda and Philindaisy moments. Lots of fluff. (which if you know me, you know I do more angst these days.  😂)
We’ve Come a Long Way from Where We Began 265 kudos - Aww! The first thing I ever wrote! Lots of May and Daisy moments and they work t reunite their team. (But also I now refuse to read this because I can see how much my writing has improved since then, and now I get mad at previous me 😂)
A Bad *Axe* Birthday 177 Kudos- May gives Daisy an axe for her birthday, and teaches her to throw it. Because to quote Rosa Diaz from B99 “What kind of woman doesn’t have an axe?”
I Took You for Granted 150 Kudos- TBH, I’m surprised this one was this high? It’s not one of the better things I’ve written tbh. But it’s May and Daisy, in season 7, and God knows they needed more scenes together, so maybe that’s why this one is on the list.
What Did We Do To Deserve This 137 Kudos- Oooooooh. *sigh* Early season 5 Philinda feels for when I still had hope for my OTP.
5. do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Ummmm YES! You kind person took the time to leave me a comment! I will let you know my appreciation for that! No comment is too big or too small! You can literally comment a <3 and I will respond because you made my day! That said, I usually respond like once a month to all the comments that have been building up in my inbox
6. what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
*cackles* Ummmm. I have several, but I think the angstiest would be The Unimaginable. Poor May just lost everyone in this fic.
OR! the pieces of my heart are missing you because I just kill all of my favorites.
OR! the moon and the stars are nothing without you because Philindaaaa feeeeels
I’m Lost Without Her  and Stay Alive, That Would Be Enough are runners up!
7. do you write crossovers? if so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Nope. Not creative enough for that  😂 😂
8. have you ever received hate on a fic?
I don’t think so? Only hate for making people feel too many feels  😂 😂 😂
But to the person who once commented “Bestie I hate to break it to you but this ^ is not therapy” on one of my angst fics, please know that even though I don’t know who you are, I love you and think about this comment everyday.
9. do you write smut? if so what kind?
Yes, but not lately. And it usually has feelings involved. No plots usually, but feelings yes.
10. have you ever had a fic stolen?
I doubt I am even known enough for someone to bother  😂
11. have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but that would be awesome!
12. have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yeah! Lean On Me with @shadowcass! Set during season 7 of AoS- Instead of MaYo going to Afterlife, it’s May & Daisy!
13. what’s your all time favorite ship?
Philindaaaaaaa. I have way too many feels about those two.
14. what’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Anything that’s in my old laptop. I got a new computer about 6 months ago, and any of my WIPs that somehow didn’t transfer over will probably never be finished. 😔
15. what are your writing strengths?
Angst! Also fluff (if I’m in the right mood). Sometimes humor! (again, depends on the mood.)
16. what are your writing weaknesses?
Feels I think? Sometimes I just write and then I go back to read it later and the dialogue in the feels particularly cringey. Also, I have a habit of using my southern slang in random places if I’m writing while tired, so I try to double check that.  😂
17. what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Personally, I’ve only done it a couple of times, and for very short sentences or phrases because I don’t want to accidentally say something wrong and make a mess of things! I sadly only speak English with a few words of Spanish and Italian thrown in for funsies. Still waiting on a fic where I can randomly throw in a word or two in Italian.
18. what was the first fandom you wrote for?
Agents of Shield I believe! Unless you count the poorly written story I practically copied from an episode of Desperate Housewives that I was probably way too young to be watching. I wrote with gel pen on some loose leaf paper and then put into a pronged folder. I was maybe... 12? Mayyyyybe 13?
19. what’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
It’s like choosing my favorite child! (Not that I have children, but I do have 4 pets and I can easily tell you who my favorite pet is. 😂)
Hands down, I think my favorite has to be It’s Only a Matter of Time. I wrote a spec fic before the AoS finale where the team splits up across time, and I sobbed so hard while writing it!
Also I really really like The Unimaginable listed above with the angsty ending!
I’m tagging @tessathetesla @samanthaswishes @herosofmarvelanddc @brutashaphilindaandsylkieohmy if you guys want to do this!

fic writer interview
I was tagged by @aadmelioraa, and though I’m late answering, this couldn’t have come at a better time since I’ve been thinking a lot about writing (in general) lately. Thank you! <3
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
60, with 58 of them in one fandom
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
719,515. This number really blows my mind and I am determined to get to a million words before too much longer.
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Only 3 at this time. Primarily t100, and one fic each for Bridgerton and Wu Assassins (coincidentally both Netflix shows). I also have an upcoming fic that will be in another (new-to-me) fandom (The Last Kingdom - clearly I have a thing for Netflix Originals).
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
All are t100 Murphy/Raven fics, since that’s primarily what I write. It’s so funny to me but I don’t think there’s any rhyme or reason about what gets the most kudos. I love all my story-babies (even the ones that aren’t as good), but for sure some of the fics that I am most attached to as a writer don’t equate to popularity.
5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Yes, I reply to every single comment. I don’t get massive amounts of comments, so of course that makes it easier for me to engage, but I find it very meaningful when people take the time to give positive feedback and praise, and it genuinely motivates me to keep writing. By engaging with readers of my works, I’ve become more friendly with a lot of great people.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Hmmm. Personally, I find “angst” difficult to define in fanfic. I tend to use that word almost interchangeably with “emotional”, and I know not everyone does. Although I don’t write a lot of open-ended or open-interpretation endings, I do enjoy reading those. But usually my characters at least have hope at the end of the story, if not a typical ‘happy ending’. So I guess that means I’ll say that Ashes Will Scatter as well as A Well Made Mistake are my angsty-est endings, because they are very much... open. Both Murven stories, though that’s probably obvious.
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I don’t have a rule not to write them, but so far I have not. I have to care a LOT about the characters in a story to write a fic focused on them, so I am more inclined to take settings & plot from one show and incorporate it into a fic focused on another show rather than to merge two shows (and their characters) together.
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I would not categorize it as hate, but I have gotten anti-Murven comments on my fic, which is mostly amusing to me. Look at my fic list - does it really look like I’m going to stop writing them any time soon?! LOL!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
This question made me laugh. Oh yeah, I write smut. Typically hetero smut, though relationships of all types & genders are in my stories.
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don’t think I’ve had a fic stolen, per se. But I have been asked in a comment if someone could take my story, change the character names and post it to another site for another fandom. I don’t think the commenter meant to be rude (likely different customs/culture in their country), but that was a big NO for me.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but I do know that at least one lovely reader told me that they translate my fics for their personal reading, which is incredibly wonderful.
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, but I am not completely opposed to it! I’m a bit of a Type-A so I’d really have to trust the person I was writing with & feel like we interpreted characters similarly though.
13. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
I had never felt an urge to write anything before Raven and Murphy came along. I liked plenty of ships and fandoms, and read fanfic for years. But nothing sucked me in like them and compelled me to start typing. I don’t usually obsess to this level, so while I can’t say what I’ll answer in the future, I really can’t ever imagine these two falling out of favor in my book.
14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Oh man... I want to say NONE because I really would like to finish the two stories on ao3 that I categorize as WIPs (A Simple Plan & Only Then You’ll See). I do expect both of them to get done at some point, but Only Then You’ll See is for sure my biggest and most ambitious story. I also do have plans to write sequels to a few of my fics, although I don’t count them as WIPs since the stories already on ao3 are what I consider to be a finished work and any continuation/sequel will be a stand alone story too.
15. What are your writing strengths?
Characterization, original ideas and to some extent, plot. Sometimes dialogue. I can’t say that anyone else would consider them strengths in my writing, but they are usually things that I am proud of in my works.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Cutting out unnecessary dialogue because I am super-freaking wordy. I cut out what I think is a lot sometimes but am still left with a very wordy fic. Emotional dialogue is particularly difficult. Also I am very much a pantser and I often rely too much on my ability to pull a rabbit out of my hat in a fic I’ve started where I don’t always know where things are going. I don’t hate this because it’s my style, but I do think I need to get better at PLANNING my fics rather than just diving in and “see where it goes”.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I don’t think too much about it. I’ll put in a necessary language if that’s what a character is speaking or what the story calls for.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
t100
19. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
This question is always too hard! I can’t pick a favorite child and it’s the same for my stories. Objectively I can see & say that some are better than others, and there are some where I might change things if I re-wrote them now, but they were all necessary for me to write at the time I wrote them. So MY favorite story will likely always change based on a lot of factors. Today I’ll say Across The Ocean Wild And Wide because I made a point of trying to get better with description in that story, and I feel like I accomplished that. Also it’s very fairy-tale and I’d never tried anything like that before.
I’m gonna tag @jarleene @hopskipaway @she-who-the-river-could-not-hold @osleyakomwonkru and anyone else who wants to fill this out! Happy writing!

t100fic4blm Weekly Fic Spotlight 📚
Every Sunday, t100 Fic for BLM is chatting with an author about one of our fics prompted via the initiative!
This week we’re chatting with @animmortalist about her fic get punched for the love club
Tumblr media Tumblr media
moodboard by @broashwhat
ship: murphamy
complete | one-shot | general | 3.3k
modern au | university au | secret relationship
Questions
1. What’s your favorite line in the fic?
It occurred to Bellamy that in another world where he wasn’t dating Murphy, Gina would be perfect. She was smart and quick-witted, considerate, but definitely not the type to let him get away with his usual shit. But he didn’t want to fall in love with her, and knew that he wouldn’t. Not when there was Murphy.
2. What was your favorite thing about this prompt?
I loved how easy going it was! Elle is such a fantastic prompter and really gave me something so fun for me to work with while also letting me put my own spin on it.
3. Who was your favorite character to write in this story?
Probably Murphy. He's one of my favorite characters to write for, and him bursting into the restaurant at the end of the fic was my favorite scene to write.
4. Is there a head canon or cut scene that didn’t make it into this fic?
Definitely Echo and Raven planning their stake-out. I'm a sucker for recho these days and I really enjoyed writing them as a side couple.
5. What’s something you would love someone to prompt you?
Honestly, I would love some prompts for my WIPs. I love a new project, but I really need to get it going with some of the ones I haven't updated in a bit.
You can prompt any of our amazing writers via this google form. We accept prompts for all t100 ships and characters and you can check out a full list of our participating writers here.

Hello! If you're still talking about your WIPS, I'm here to inquire about #8 (Blodreina's Knight) and/or #10 (The Traveler's Blessing)!
Hello! Thank you! I still have a few on my list…let’s talk about some of my favorites!
Blodreina’s Knight
It feels like I’ve had this fic on my list for my whole entire t100 writing career! Holy—
So a mutual gave me two prompts for Bellarke:
"I will kill anyone who looks at you the way I look at you" & "I'm not good enough for you"
And that turned into an idea of a S5 Bunker AU with like Boxer!Bellamy…and that was it. I’ve looked up a bunch of Trig and watched episode 5x02 like a bajillion times. I would really love to write this one and at this point I’m not really sure why I haven’t!!! There’s nothing stopping me! It’s a fairly easy plot. I redid the moodboard for it the other week, it the first draft I have saved on here…so I would love to clear that out too. Lol Fingers crossed, I suppose!
The Traveler’s Blessing
I talked a lot about this fic at the beginning of the summer when I was participating in 100 days of writing. It’s a @troped-fanfic-challenge fic…3.0 R3…Fantasy Heist AU! And there is so much PLOT! It’s going to be a big one, I think!
Take a peek at the opening rough draft under the cut!
Bellamy Blake buried his mother on a Tuesday. It was a warm day in the Shire. The sun beat down on his back as it rose high over the Brandywine River in the distance and he carried his mother’s body from the hill to the tobacco field where she would be laid to rest. Under a tree, surrounded by unmarked graves of Hobbits, perhaps from the Third Age, Bellamy dug the grave himself. She was only ninety, or so, she said. She had never been outright with Bellamy about her age. It was an exceptionally young age for a Hobbit to pass away at, but she looked like she could be every bit of it and more. She could have easily passed as one in her eleventies.
Between the rows of tobacco that would be harvested to make Bellamy’s favorite pipe-weed, a path opened up into a small circle of dirt around a tall, sturdy tree. The graves around it weren’t of any relation to the Blakes or of any family in Hobbiton or the Shire, as far as Bellamy had read. And he had read a lot. His home was overflowing with books that his mother had collected over many years and after he had read them all, he scoured the whole Shire for more. The rooms in their Hobbit hole were stacked from floor to rounded ceiling. The tables slumped under the weight of them. He was never found without one in his hand or in his pocket.
But the graves were a part of his history now. It was the only place that made sense to bury Aurora Blake, since she wasn’t related to any Hobbits in the Shire and would have no place among their graves. He wasn’t sure where their family was from, but his mother had raised him here. It was all he could remember. So he buried her on the land that belonged to Farmer Green, in a tobacco field she had worked in during the hot summer months, and in perfect view out the window in the kitchen of the Hobbit hole Bellamy had just inherited.
The funeral was somber and short. Bellamy was joined by close friends of his and Aurora’s. Callie and Vera stood by his side. Gina Martin was there. She came over after the funeral and seldom left his side the week after. Callie and Vera wore their best and held handkerchiefs to their noses solemnly. Once he had covered the grave, Vera looked up to him before she spoke.
Bellamy gently tossed the shovel aside, brushed the dirt from his hands, and nodded at the Hobbit to begin.
“In peace, may you leave this shore…”
It was on a Highday when Bellamy met his sister for the first time.
He was staring at the box on the mantle, when there was a hard knock against his rounded front door. He opened the door slowly and revealed a very odd trio. There standing between his gardens on the cobblestone path was a wizard, an elf, and a young girl.
Ask me about my WIPs!

Announcements Etc.
A few housekeeping type announcements for this blog and, more particularly, my writing through the end of the year and into 2022.
1. I’ve signed up for Troped’s Holiday Exchange, so I will definitely be posting one more fic this year.
2. All my other works, previously unofficially on hiatus, are now officially on hiatus. I’m not currently planning to post anything else this year.
3. I’ve reorganized my attempt at an update schedule here. (It doesn’t have dates so it’s not really a “schedule” but I really enjoy looking at other people’s charts and lists and so on so I thought I would contribute to the genre.)
4. I have some outstanding requests from last summer and even though I made no promises to fill them... I do plan to. Maybe one or two this year but most likely after the New Year.
5. In January, my first goals will be to finish posting devil’s gonna get me one of these days (my Southern Gothic AU) and And They Lived: A Sleeping Beauty AU.
6. After that... I’m really not sure. I have a lot of contradictory hopes and plans. A part of me wants to sweep away all the WIPs and ideas and start completely fresh. Another part has some definite favorites on the list I’d like to focus on. And a third part stubbornly wants to finish everything, somehow, despite the implausibility of this plan. Maybe I’ll go into long-term hiatus and not do anything but plan fics and write unpublished fragments. I’m not really sure!
7. I know there aren’t many people reading in the T100 fandom anymore lol but if you’ve heard me talk about some particular fic and you want me to actually write it, please let me know. I am very easy to encourage.

I haven’t come to your blog in quite some time... after t100 ended, I lost interest in tumblr for a while. But I was active here once, and we had many a discussion. I came to see if you enjoyed bridgerton, despite the not so accurate clothing and such. I think it’s super cheesy and really fun to watch, and I know you enjoy period dramas
Yeah, I’m still here-- mainly because I work online, so when I break from work I make the rounds of my social media, and tumblr is one of them. It’s less active here because the fandom has mostly disappeared, not that I blame people. I also have a hard time posting about the positive aspects of The 100 because it just imploded so spectacularly. Still a big disappointment.
BUT
I have moved on. I was honestly ready to be done with intense fandom, because it’s just not good for my mental health and I was tired of the negativity. I don’t understand why people get angry when other people enjoy a thing, and think they have to come in and ruin it for them. Like, buzz off, we’re working on coping skills to get through our dumpster fire lives.
AND YES I love Bridgerton.
Actually, I love the book series Bridgerton and it was one of my favorites in the last couple of years.
And this is related to my The 100 fandom experience, because for a while, I wasn’t reading books, I was only reading bellarke fanfic, but then, due to a shift in the fanfic community and my discomfort with the fandom (knowing that a lot of them didn’t like me) I began to feel weird about reading and writing fanfic. Like when I liked someone’s story, was I giving kudos to someone who bullied me on anon? I didn’t know.  And at the same time I’d begun ghostwriting romances, so to do research, I started reading published romances.
The first one I read was a secret baby trope, because that was what I was writing, and I fell into historical fiction. I read Kleypas and Dare and Milan and Maclean and yes, Quinn.  That took the place of my fanfic reading. To be honest, I wouldn’t have been able to be a ghostwriter if I hadn’t been a fanfic writer first, because, even though I have writing education and training and experience, fanfic taught me to write for audience, to do it fast without that certain...anxiety about perfectionism, and immersed me in romantic tropes, which it turns out, I really love.
This is a lot of chit chat to say that yes, I saw Bridgerton and I love Bridgerton.
I would suppose that historical romances have taken the place of my the 100 obsession. I read probably one a day. I should keep track on goodreads or something, but I do a lot of rereading. Like I’ll reread a beloved book or series five or six times. And when I forget the details of ones I liked, I’ll reread those too. Also I’m probably dealing with my internalized snobbery about the romance genre. Let me tell you, getting an education in creative writing in college installs some “issues” with genre. Everything is supposed to be lit fic, or it’s lesser. I’ve been kind of pugnacious about the sff genre and haven’t let the snobbery interfere with my love of it, but I haven’t gotten over the romance snobbery, which is not JUST snobbery but also internalized misogyny.
But I mean, fuck it. I am so sick of grimdark and tragedies and “cool edgy” dudes thinking women should be destroyed and tortured and betrayed in movies and sff and fiction in general.
I don’t WRITE historical romances. I write contemporary romances for my ghostwriting gigs (I have one client and I’ve written like 18 novels and novellas for her in the last two years. It’s fun, but it doesn’t make very much money and the deadlines are VERY tight.) However I don’t READ contemporary romances, I read historicals. I like the level of fantasy involved and the distance from reality when I read it, but I am bothered too much buy the imperial colonialism and classism of regency or victorian british settings to write it. Also, that would take so much research to write to my liking. I am involved in romancelandia (romance writing twitter,) but not very active. Mostly I just listen and learn and sometimes comment.
In fact. I follow a woman who judges regency and victorian costuming in film productions. https://twitter.com/BillAndTedTest She has not gotten around to doing Bridgerton yet.
How do I feel about the costuming??? Well, I’m divided. I am bothered by the fact that Daphne never wears a pelisse and always has half up hair. I am bothered by the fact that Simon almost never has his cravat tied properly and has a shockingly bare neck. And the fabrics and stitching are visibly cheap.
But I also feel that except for the cheap fabrication which was an element of budget and time, a lot of the design choices were stylistic in nature. Like, if you look at the background characters, I feel that their costumes were more accurate, but with the main characters, they really went for character over accuracy. They didn’t want Daphne in any of the buttoned up outfits because they wanted her to be a girlish, romantic ingenue. They wanted Simon to show as a dashing sexy rake, so the buttoned up thing wouldn’t work for him, and they gave him the open neck that would be more appealing to a contemporary audience. (although while Simon is very handsome I actually find Anthony more sexy. He’s buttoned up...but it’s holding back all passion inside. BUT THAT’S a story for season 2. I can’t wait. I liked book 2 better than 1 mostly because of the rape, tbh. But I also love books 4,6 and 7 and I don’t know if we’ll get there.)
They wanted Lady Featherington to be crass and pushy so they gave her a nonsensical victorian silhouette. I mean. ???? It was SO different from anyone else’s. Weird choice, but for the character it kind of makes her appear to be a more aggressive character type from LATER in time? IDK. Of course Penelope is canonically dressed in awful gowns that are not flattering and I’m looking forward to how they end up dressing her for her book. And praying that we get a season 4. But I mean, the costume choices for the Featheringtons are BASED on Lady F’s bad taste, so there’s some leeway with her not being in style.
So. That is A LOT when you asked a little question. I guess I wanted to talk about it. I’m not allowed to talk about my ghostwriting or the stories I’m writing because I signed a hushhush contract. I’m not accustomed to being in a fandom for reading books-- remember I only joined fandom in the last 5 years for The 100, and then had some bad experiences so didn’t get into other fandoms. I don’t really even know how it would work especially not MULTIPLE books and authors instead of one series, so I haven’t really had conversations about the historical romances, except for a bit of twitter discussion.

three thoughts about raven reyes (& 1 thought about Murven endgame)
ONE
I loved Raven Reyes from the millisecond she showed up on screen. I started watching from the very first episode of t100 but I got truly invested once she showed up and that has never changed. She’s so complicated but at the same time her motivations are simple to figure out if you consider her past and what it was like for her to grow up on the Ark. This might get me some shade but I don’t think a lot of fandom understands Raven at all, and that makes me sad (and also angry lbr). She’s one of the most forgiving characters on this show, she wears her heart on her sleeve and you never have to guess where you stand with her. Raven can be tremendously kind and understanding but she can also tear you down and make you feel small if she disagrees with your choices. I happen to think this is one of her strengths. She deserves so much happiness even though she thinks she doesn’t. It’s not even remotely a stretch to say that she may very well be my favorite character of all time. -JENN
A beautiful, iconic genius. I love how from her introduction, there’s no problem she can’t handle or won’t approach. She’s Raven Reyes and she’s a badass with an amazing mind. Yes, she faces challenges, as all these characters face, but she has such a tenacity when it comes to approaching them which I really love. I think it’s been so great to see this character, played by such a great actress, during the years of t100. -RYN
i find she’s often overlooked for how much representation she brings to the show. she’s not necessarily underrated, but just not appreciated enough for how much she can mean to people. raven reyes is a woman in stem, a woman of colour, and a woman with a disability. on top of that, she is so kickass and kind and funny and beautiful and strong - she isn’t reduced to tokenism, she is an integral part of the show. i love raven reyes and lindsey morgan for the comfort and inspiration they give so many people. -ELLE
TWO
Her strength is something that I think is both one of the most powerful and interesting parts of her character. Her season four arc really broke my heart, in the best way since I love pain, but I absolutely loved that she chose to live. That she fought back against every odd and said “screw that” and powered on. She does struggle, yes, she feels pain and experiences loss and everything else that all the characters face, which I think is important, to show that she isn’t unbreakable. She also confronts those struggles by continuing forward though, and doing what she can for herself and her people. -RYN
despite what canon says, i think that she has always been morally gray in her actions. she took extreme actions against grounders in season one. she wanted to turn murphy over to the grounders in season two. she was pretty complacent in the nightblood experiments in season four. she helped with the flame in season five. in season seven, she wants murphy and emori to keep up the prime act. she’s complex and contradictory and realistic and human. -ELLE
For Raven, family is everything and once she counts you as hers, she’s not letting go without a fight. She felt this way about Finn, which I hated at first, but I have come to appreciate their relationship more and respect her feelings for him as her family even after what he did. She’s willing to do anything for her family, including stay behind alone in space, facing likely death like when it meant getting Spacekru back to Earth safely. We see the devastation she takes on when she loses family and how it haunts her and also influences her actions. This outlook is still going strong in s7 when she fights to bring Echo back to herself and throws being a family in Bellamy’s face when she feels that he has betrayed them. I don’t think anything motivates Raven more than family. -JENN
THREE
Thinking about regrets I’ll have that we likely won’t see for Raven, I think it’s particularly traumatic that Finn, Sinclair and Abby all died right in front of her while she could do absolutely nothing about it. All three were her family and I think the helplessness & guilt that she felt regarding their deaths (and to an extent Monty & Harper too, based on what she says after learning of their deaths) really plays a big role on who she has become over the seasons. I wish canon took a deeper look into that but I do think Lindsey does a particularly good job at showing devastated emotions (sob) so at least I got that. I am truly turning myself into a pretzel to cross my entire body that Raven gets her happy ending, but I will add the caveat that it better make sense for her & not be some bs last-minute move that ruins her character either. -JENN
We love color symbolism!! I love Raven’s red jacket and the repeated red symbolism we get for her. Not just because, of course, it ties with Murphy’s symbolism as well (I see you red jacket patch, I see you), but also because I think it shows her character so well. I enjoyed it so much when they brought the jacket, or one like it, back this season, and think it shows how all the character arcs, but specifically hers, are circling back and connecting them to who they were in season one to who they are now. Hopefully, this circling will include satisfying conclusions for her and the others. -RYN
raven reyes is the only one who should be allowed to call murphy a cockroach. with anyone else, it bothers me, but with (the) raven, it’s fine. i think that’s just because of the development they’ve have. it was a title born out of hatred, but it has since evolved into an inside joke for the pair, and it’s even a bit of a mantra. i know a lot of people disliked the “go be a cockroach” line in season seven, but to me i think it was her way of saying (in a high stress situation) “i need you to survive, like you always do” á la season four’s “go. survive” and “that’s what cockroaches do, right?” lines. every cockroach needs a raven. -ELLE
what’s your ideal ending for Murven?
I feel like there’s two viewpoints I’m torn between - what I want to happen vs. what’s appropriate for the story. IMHO the ending for them that’s appropriate for the story is that they die together. It’s a huge part of their dynamic that canon has set up since early s2. If the show does it well, showing that Raven & Murphy actively choose not to leave each other or it’s a scenario where it’s inevitable and they sort of peacefully accept it and perhaps do something heroic at the end, then as sad as I’d be, I’d also probably love it and would completely accept it. And then I’d write reincarnation fic or something, LOL! But what I want to happen - oh well, in that case - I’d like them both to survive and have maybe a hint or two that the option of them being together is there. Personally I don’t need them to be romantic canon in the end if we can at least leave the ending up to interpretation but I would sell my soul for them to kiss onscreen at least once. I don’t care how or why just let me have it!! -jenn
a quiet life in sanctum. i think after all the danger and pain they’ve experienced, they deserve a nice peaceful life. my ideal would be them being together, living in a cute little cottage style house. raven would take over the machine shop, getting to tinker around all day. murphy would work at the bar/kitchen, getting to chat and joke around with people all day. they would come home and talk about their days or hang out with their friends, never without some playful teasing, and then they would fall asleep together - peaceful and happy. -elle
Okay, this is more than simply just sad, but my ideal goal is a final, important moment between them. I have been theorizing and predicting a possible Murphy death since really the season started, and I’m scared to admit I feel like it is heading there. So, while I think it’s gonna break my damn heart, I want Murphy to have a true hero’s death (if he does have to die which I am not down with or excited about but what I feel is indeed coming) and a final important moment with Raven, who I feel with pretty intense certainty will live and (hopefully) lead a very full and happy life. It’s not a perfect ending, or the ending I would’ve written for them, but this is where my ideal meets my acknowledgement of canon meets haha. -ryn
it was an absolute delight to interview these three Murven writers! you can find ryn @animmortalist on Tumblr, or here on AO3. you can find elle @hopskipawayon Tumblr, or here on AO3. you can find jenn @easilydistractedbyfanfic on Tumblr, or here on AO3. all three of them are working with @t100fic-for-blm, request a fic written by them there. <3

2020 Fic Year in Review
Tagged by: @pawprinterfanfic, thanks love! 💛
Total number of published stories:
16 (4 WIPs, 12 complete)
Total published word count:
I just passed 450k this week which was pretty exciting.
Fandoms written in:
Only t100 for now, but eyeing the new shadow & bone show for 2021
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected?:
Way more. I only started writing last year which was just two WIPs that were unfinished going into 2020. Both having the free time during the pandemic and filling prompts for @t100fic-for-blm had me writing a lot more this year.
What’s your own favorite story of the year?:
Tie between All Because of You and Voices in the Water
Did you take any writing risks this year?:
Hmm I guess just opening up prompts and writing things that I didn’t ✨choose✨ to write. I decided before I did that I wouldn’t say no to a prompt unless it was a topic that made me uncomfortable or something extreme in that sense, so some prompts have pushed me out of my comfort zone.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year?:
To just keep up writing as much as I can. I know with going back to work full time and having a social life again it might not be realistic to write as much as I did this year.
Next up:
New Voices in the Water chapter. You can view my list of upcoming prompts/WIP updates here - I try to include expected publication dates too.
Most popular story of the year?:
All Because of You blew all my other stories out of the water with hits, kudos, and comments, but that was first published in 2019. If we’re going off 2020 alone, my most popular is actually a fic I published anonymously lmao. Rip.
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Chasin You’ for sure, but I know that’s because the story has barely gotten started and it’s been a while since I updated. However, I have a couple updates for it coming up towards the end of February.
Most fun story to write:
I actually don’t think I have one - I’m always in the mood to write different stories at different times, which is why I never stick to one WIP at a time.
Most unintentionally telling story:
I’m not sure what this means. Like most revealing, about me? I mean some of my smut tags are probably revealing lmao. I also adore unplanned pregnancy and kid fics, so maybe All Because of You.
Biggest surprise:
Generally speaking, just how much @t100fic-for-blm has grown since we started in June. For fic, maybe my Graduation Pact series. I didn’t think people would love the fic so much but it’s my 4th most popular and 2 other fics have been prompted in that universe.
Tagging: all @t100fic-for-blm writers | @bookwormforalways | @icantloseyou-too | @eyessharpweaponshot | @bellamyblake | @immortalcockroach | @immortalpramheda | @arysafics

AO3 stats
I was tagged by several you guys! @aleksandrachaev @justanalto and @loved-the-stars-too-fondly
I joined AO3 in July 2017, but only started posting work in November of that year for a Philinda Big Bang I was participating in. I took a few big breaks between then and now though.
What are your five most popular works of all time? (starting with the most kudos)
Everything’s Changing (WIP) - canon divergent after s4. Philinda and Philindaisy. Coming in first with 243 kudos.
We’ve Come a Long Way from Where We Began - My first work on AO3, coming in a close second with 242 kudos. (written for the aforementioned Philinda Big Bang)
Lean On Me - Cowritten with @sapphicsgaia.233 kudos. alternate take on 7x08 with MayDaisy instead of Mayo. Idek if we finished this one or not. Whoops?
A Bad *Axe* Birthday - A sweet lil MayDaisy bday fic written for @agentmmayy for an exchange in 2019. :) 153 kudos.
The Agents of Shield have an Internet Family Plan - co-written with a bunch of folks as an RP on a group chat. lots of fun to do and even more fun to read!! 130 kudos.
What are your five least popular works? (starting with the least kudos)
The Unimaginable - Post Bahrain May angst. 15 Kudos
Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime - post s7 Christmas fluff. 21 kudos.
Pillowforts - Not really pillowforts, but all my brain  could  make from a Philinda pillowfort prompt for @immhungry. 21 kudos.
Stay Alive, That Would Be Enough - written for the angst war. An alternate take on swayed Daisy. 29 kudos.
The Red Bikini- Philinda on Tahiti. Should I say more? 32 kudos.
Are you surprised about any of these lists?
Well, yeah and no. Some of the ones I’m most proud of (The Unimaginable and Stay Alive were two of my absolute favorites I’ve ever written, but were in the bottom 5. They’re also much newer, so it kind of makes sense.)
Optional, if you want to calculate it (remember that ao3 will count all the words in a multichap towards the year it is completed, regardless of how much was actually posted that year): How many words did you publish in 2020?
Added it up,and it’s nearly 64k. Which is a lot for me, especially considering I didn’t write all that much for the first half of the year..
What’s a favorite fic you published this year?
Why would you ask me this? How do I pick? There are several that I stepped out of my comfort zone to do, several that just were written with the help of a muse, and several that were just fun.
I guess I’d say The Unimaginable because it was good angst, even if I do say so myself.
How do you feel like you’ve improved as a writer this year?
As I said, I’ve stepped out of my usual comfort zone. Especially by writing smut. I mean. Never thought I’d do that if, I’m honest.
What is something new you did writing-wise in the past year? (new fandom, pairing, setting, genre, collab, etc)
I. Wrote. A. Smut. Fic. What?!?!?!  When I’m Bad I’m Better was the only smut I’ve written so far, but...I’m impressed by myself for even attempting to write it lol
What is something writing-related you would like to try in the future? (check back at the end of the year and see if you did it!)
I want to try to branch out with my fandoms. I’ve been watching a lot of T100 (thanks, El.) so I might want to try something from that? Although, my fave ship and character are both dead now, so... we will see.
Today’s date, so you can see how your results might change if you do this again in a year.
January 1, 2021
No idea who’s done this other than the people who tagged me, but I’m just gonna pick a few of my usual people to tag lol
@sapphicsgaia @herosofmarvelanddc @browneyedgenius and anyone else who posts on AO3 that wants to do this!

Honestly, some nights the thought of facing her demons made relapse seem like the better option. - There's blood in my body (I'm holding on)
The world is ending. - I've Got You Here
As the air turned cooler, the forest burst into color and the leaves started to fall, and all Bellamy saw was death and decay. - What We Have To Do
Bellamy finds Clarke sitting on the ground in the far corner of the camp, next to the fence overlooking the valley the Grounders had vacated. - Here Be Dragons
Clarke kisses him with the desperation that comes from facing down death and being left standing. - Drowning
Things I Learned:
I used to capitalize my titles, go figure
I somehow used to be more dramatique

t100fic4blm Weekly Fic Spotlight 📚
Every Sunday, t100 Fic for BLM is chatting with an author about one of our fics prompted via the initiative!
This week we’re chatting with @the-most-beautiful-broom about her fic A Place Called Home
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ship: bellarke
complete | one-shot | teen | 17k
modern au | the lost husband au | farmer bellamy blake
Questions
1. What’s your favorite line in the fic?
“They’re barely moving, the two of them, smallest steps in a confined circle, swirling in the depth of grief and celebration, loss and life.”
2. What was your favorite thing about this prompt?
I loved the tone of it! There’s these funny/light moments, there’s heavy emotional moments, there’s aesthetic countryside scenes; the whole thing kind of just sprung up in a dreamscape and I love that. This is a stretch, but the whole thing just feels like that scene at the end of pride and prejudice, where it’s misty and hopeful but definitely murky? Reading it feels melancholy, which is different for me.
3. Who was your favorite character to write in this story?
I really loved writing Bellamy in this one—as a whole and broken person, someone who’s struggling with grief and feeling and letting himself stumble, but still being steady. I feel like canon pieces he never gets to process and in romcom AUs (which I write my fair share of) it’s just not addressed, so here it was therapeutic to let him work through it.
4. Is there a head canon or cut scene that didn’t make it into this fic?
I wanted to get some Bellamy POV here, but it didn’t fit the tone. In the movie, there’s a lot more backstory on Clarke’s character’s upbringing, but I kind of just streamlined it. I would’ve liked to write more of Charmaine and Bellamy’s relationship, or into his caretaker side with his ex...as it was, though, the fic already ran away from me haha.
5. What’s something you would love someone to prompt you?
Haha it’s so specific, butttt if someone prompted me the The Spy Who Dumped me, for Raven and Murphy (BROTP) prompt, I would literally love that.
Also, anything memori! I miss writing for those idiots.
