When I became a Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry fan, i did all kinds of random research and one day, to my great dismay, I fell upon this what-the-fuckery of a comic strip. A little explanation:

Gotlib, Solé and Dister are french cartoonist who were very active in the 70s and published a bunch of comic strips about their favorite bands in a magazine called “Fluide Glacial” (which is a comic magazine targeted mainly towards older teenagers or young adults). The concept is simple: the authors would translate literally a song by a British or American rock group in French and illustrate it in a very .... quirky, perverted and funny way, with a hint of nudity and toilet humor.

Even if they mock these songs, you can sense their absolute love and admiration for their favorite pop rock groups and their love for everything English. Those comics got compiled into a book called “Pop, Rock et Colégram”, which (unfortunately for me) I only could find in German language on eBay...

So here is the illustrated comic version of “Every Dream Home a Heartache”, where Bryan is struggling to live with a blowup doll. Very literal and immature, but ohh, so wonderfully put together. Apart from the fact that they couldn’t spell Bryan Ferry correctly of course...

Jacobi afirma que Spinoza ha sido el filósofo más consecuente de la historia, que ha seguido los principios de la razón hasta sus últimas consecuencias y ha aceptado los resultados a los que el camino de la explicación causal de la naturaleza le habían conducido. Así pues, tal como Lessing mismo lo admite en el transcurso de la conversación en Wolfenbüttel, hay que que concluir que “no hay otra filosofía que la filosofía de Spinoza”. No es, pues Spinoza quien ha realizado la negación de la libertad, de Dios, de la Providencia, sino la razón humana misma en su pretensión de explicarlo y demostrarlo todo. Fatalismo, ateísmo, nihilismo y anarquía son, según Jacobi, los resultados necesarios hacia los que avanza todo aquel que adopte principios racionalistas.»
