life in fontaine was quite different to what you had expected, however you surmised that it was due to the fact that you spent most of your days around… interesting… characters.
on one hand, you had some clingy little magician hanging off your arm and treating you as if he was your big brother wherever you went, which only reminded you of a certain redhead back in the day.
on another hand, you had a classy lady who wore a gorgous gold dress and was possibly one of the most glammed up people you’ve ever seen, who insists on dragging you around with her, taking you to all sorts of little shops and cafés. when questioned why she does this, she only smiles, saying how you seemed lonely and needed a friendly face that wasn’t bursting you eardrums with enthusiasm constantly.
having an absent female role throughout your childhood, you slowly began to cling to navia. from the moment you requested the both of you go on a little snack date, she was your official big sister!
with all these eccentric people in your life with seemingly no limit on their social battery, you find yourself overly exhausted almost every evening.
this all changed when a humble and shy diver boy swam into your story.
after about a month of living within the walls of fontaine, you soon come to realise you never formally introduced yourself to lyney’s younger brother, who was absent the first time you ever met the twins.
from what you could recall, freminet was a reserved yet somewhat stoic character. from what lynette had separately told you, he was easily flustered and a bit difficult to talk to. for awhile, you just accepted the fact you might not ever even meet the boy as you had never ACTUALLY seen him out and about.
until the day you decided you’d explore the waters.
like many people in fontaine, you too were curious and mesmerised about the beauty of the sea. the shimmering blue waves blended into the prismatic pinks of the seabed. an assortment of colours could be seen from the top of the ocean and you just had to know what lay beneath the surface.
so, like every normal people would do, you grabbed some overglamified water-gear (NOT diving gear), and hopped straight into the ocean. you were a fairly strong swimmer so you had no issues going under, you weren’t planning on diving deep into water ravines and ocean monuments after all.
looking at all the ocean had to offer you, your eyes glimmered in an almsot spellbound way. the ocean was hypnotic, an almsot angelic tune could be deciphered as you swam further.
going down a little, you see something almost glowing? just beneath the sand. as you go to pick it up, you then realise it wasn’t an object, but a flower. you then recalled what lyney had told you about certain flowers of fontaine.
a little giddy, you go to pick one for yourself before someone else appears in your vision. a boy wearing a diving helmet moves directly upwards from where you were, also in shock in the fact that somebody else was present.
the flower was sitting off the edge of a ravine, and so a body coming flying from the depths of it was quite a sight to behold.
the two of you stare at eachother, before you begin your ascend to the surface, needing to get some air.
you notice the figure swimming up next to you, and decide it’s worth it to learn who this mysterious diver truly is. divers aren’t uncommon in fontaine for obvious reasons, so when you make it on land you didn’t expect the one to take off the helmet to be the youngest brother of the magicians.
“hello, my name is freminet”. he speaks, almost robotically. still a bit startled, you go to speak.
“nice to meet you freminet, my name is (y/n), it’s a pleasure to meet you”.
silence.
“so, um.. do you like the ocean?” the boy asks, a small blush coating his pale cheeks.
“that was the first time i’ve ever touched the waters of fontaine”. you reply rather formally, going back into rich boy mode.
“oh! cool..” he plays with his fingers.
more silence.
you two suck at talking.
from that moment forward (after the very awkward first meeting), freminet was attached to your hip. he followed you around everywhere, and his company didn’t seem to bother you whatsoever. you were one of the first people, who wasn’t one of his siblings, to tolerate his inability to hold a decent conversation, and freminet cherished that part of you,
on the other hand, you liked how freminet didn’t make you feel as though you needed to talk with him constantly to keep the newly formed friendship in tow. the two of you could sit on a bench for hours, barley conversate, however the atmosphere never differed from comfortable.
in a way, you were each others peace.
“hello again (y/n)! are you here to once more whisk my little brother away on a little date?” lyney asks, winking as he spoke. it wasn’t rare you came to collect the boy if you had something to do, and vise versa if freminet wanted some company while he worked.
you only rolled your eyes at the blonde, flicking his forehead (to which he winced slightly) before making yourself at home. by this point your migration to fontaine was close to hitting the 4 month mark, and in that time the trio of the hearth became almost family to you.
that also means waltzing into each others homes unannounced.
i’m not joking by the way, once you came home to lynette stuffing her face with a cake you bought earlier that day with lyney knocked out on your lounge. and you know what you did? ate the rest of the cake with lynette (you twos secret till this day) and markered all over lyneys face before taking a nap yourselves.
anyways, you made yourself at home before asking lynette where freminet was. she smiled to herself knowingly before directing you to the boys bedroom.
as you entered, a truly charming scene before you unfolded itself.
freminet was fast asleep on his bed, pers sitting on his nightstand. freminet had a book cuddled into his chest, his little snores filled the room.
smiling to yourself, you go to collect the book from his grasp, worried the edges might hurt him in his sleep, before something truly taken out of a romance novel happened.
instead, freminet grabbed your sleeve and yanked you down towards him. you always knew he was a clingy sleeper, having shared a DOUBLE BED with him beforehand, however freminet had a SINGLE BED.
in schock, you look at his peaceful face that was still dead asleep, before giggling to yourself.
you successfully take the book from his grasp and put it on the floor. then you look up to the ceiling. the artwork of sea creatures and hanging bubbles from his roof was truly a mesmerising sight, his entire bedroom being themed off the ocean. everything about him drawer you in more and more.
you failed to realise that the ‘more and more’ was now directly next to you, clinging onto your chest. for the 100th time this day, you heart skipped a beat as the diver cuddled himself next to you.
‘fuck it’ you say to yourself, grabbing him gently by the waist and adjusting him so he was on your chest sideways, with you flat on your back with one arm around him.
‘you know, i think i could get used to this’. you think to yourself once more.
you didn’t know at the time, but the tune you assumed to be in your head was actually outside freminet bedroom window, being strung gently by a lyre. the figure of the person could not be seen to those passing by, but if you looked close enough..
you’d notice a jade green bard smiling to himself, an instrument of pure melodies resting upon his fingertips.

Someone’s probably asked already but would you be willing to share your art process from sketch to render/colour? Your art is always so pretty and colourful and I’d love to know how you do it
hi anon! i've talked about it a while ago but my process has changed a bit my latest work has had considerably limited palettes just bc star wars is very monotone! (black to grey to white, with some exceptions) this can seem irritating, especially if you like colour. but i just dial up the blues and greens so they still read as cold (artificial space light) or throw some purple in if i want warmth (proximity to luke, in sunlight etc) with din and luke skin/hair, i pick colours that are somewhat desaturated because the dark blues in the rest of the scene will punch them up and make them vibrant!
Tumblr media
so its really another case of classic complimentary colours/colour theory. other tips are sharing colours, even if its not your first instinct.
Tumblr media
so luke and grogu have this colour in common, which makes things cohesive and, bc they r the only two figures "out of uniform" (aka not grey/black/etc) they don't stand out entirely so when I'm drawing the same environments and characters, i build a colour vocabulary around them! which is this
Tumblr media
but is different for other characters ive drawn!
Tumblr media
you can also try gradient maps as i think they create cohesion similarly! its also worth noting that apart from lines, i draw all on one layer. so all my colours, i pick myself instead of using layer types like multiply etc. i have no issue with layer types, i just get better results using my own eye! it also means i can blend etc more naturally

Carrot Pineapple Muffins
The recipe for the muffins seen here, well. Sort of anyway.
Recipe as written, on a page from maybe a website or book? I just have a photo copy I reprint as needed (read: as the paper falls victim to mishaps)
1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 cup salad oil
2 eggs
1 cup finely grated raw carrot
1/2 cup crushed pineapple with juice
1 tsp vanilla
Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt together in large bowl. Add oil, eggs, carrot, pineapple and vanilla.
Blend on low speed until all is moist, then beat for 2 minutes at medium speed. Half fill greased muffin tins and bake at 350 F for 25 minutes.
Makes 24 muffins. -Mrs. W. Atkins Agincourt, Ontario
Well thank u Mrs. Agincourt, the impact uve had on my life is not insubstantial. If you would like these muffins id def reccomend just making them as is...
however... u dont have a recipe in your life this long and Not Fuck With It.
Number One alteration that ive never NOT done (well maybe once by accident?) blend those pineapples. well it very well might be to ppls preference to have little morsels of pineapple in there. but a blended pineapple slurry just makes it like. applesauce muffins. just a nice moist texture throughout idk
Number 1.5 is u can make this a cake if u like. i guess thats obivious. BUT. Its good. i had this for many a birthday. ice that shit, normal buttercream please what is with the cream cheese obsession i dont know. do what u like but dont limit urself to expectation okay. Bakes into a nice really brown cake. U gotta bake this recipe like 'well done' if u want it to have any kind of structural intregrity so its kinda? crusty? i like it tho.
Number 2. ratios. in an impluse that im sure started in some healthy eating for the kids blah blah. but its just how i make it now. I tend to increase the pineapple and decrease the oil and use one egg? how much?? ehhhhhh..... like like a cup of pineapple. and 1/3 oil? does that math out? probably not idk. dont do it like how i do it maybe probably but thats how i do it
ALSO. MORE CINNAMON. Live deliciously. could go up to a tbsp of cinnamon honestly. Maybe even apple pie or chai spices. Could do whatever.
Number 3. definitional quibbles. "makes 24 muffins" whos muffins.... i find this tends to make me about 15 large muffins. maybe 16-18 if u want to be safe from over flow? and more if u want to fill em with a jam thing.
"finely grated carrot" using a grater with wholes less that like... idk half a centremeter gives me a bad time. u want like. chedder cheese size not parmesan.
oh also "salad oil" i use canola or vegatable. is that what it means by that? [makes i dunno noise] you could sub with various melted fats. there would be differences but not a big deal. butter or marg or coconut. whatever.
Number 4. Process. Oh mostly just I mix all the liquids together and then add them to the dry ingredients. (u could pop them all into blender together if u want) im mixing this shit by hand so u know. usuaully i do carrots a dry ingredient but that might not even be a good choice again ignore what im doing.
and again bake time. Ur really gonna want to check on them to to make sure their done. like toothpick check colour check whatever. their moist so its not a big like. over cook problem i think. AND i think theyre really good after sitting in the fridge or freezer and getting reheated (fresh baked goods are soooo tasty but a microwave is also a wonderful invention)
post thought. the jam. i dont usually fill these muffins usually i save that for applesauce ones, but i did last time. i tend to just heat whatever frozen berries, little lemon or lime juice. uhhhh maybe 1/4 cup of sugar? in a small sauce pan. how much fruit. ??? enough. i fill each muffin with like. a tablespoon. so idk. math that one out. needs to be a thick sauce! (however if its TOO thick then u also lose out on messy pick apart muffin treat. ur call) and chilled. if u wanna avoid Big Mess Muffin. lmao. u could swril the jam in or whatever else to but. effort.

Hiii, just gotta say, I LOVED your Wendy gifset and I was wondering how you got them to look that pretty?? They looks soft and detailed and like, real? Hehe I hope you can help me out, idk what I've been doing wrong with mine that are looking like shit so, help me out please
henlo anon!
when i first started gif-making, my gifs weren't the bestest either! it's a process and i think you'll get better at it w practice and trying new things !! <3 i'll throw in a bunch of pointers a lot of CCs gave me when i first started giffing and some of my opinions under the cut!
also this is definitely Not a link to download photoshop 2022 for free that i definitely didn't use as an upgrade two weeks ago
what you'll need to know before going through this long long rant of mine:
basic photoshop giffing skills
knowledge of smart filters and blending options
some patience (to hear my nonsense)
interest in maybe picking up new software
disclaimer: image heavy!
Tumblr media
1. always use videos in their highest quality!
hq videos = hq gifs! i do not recommend using videos below 720p! also if you use photoshop, the number of colours in the gif is limited 268, meaning that sometimes your gifs can lose quality in export, and that could make lower quality videos look worse! (for eg. the video i sourced the wendy set from was 4k that i downloaded from 4kvideodownloader)
here's links to download:
4kvideodownloader
sophistagram (for vlives)
weverse lives download tutorial
twitter video downloader
a smol opinion: i've seen a lot of users use tumblr mobile, and noticed that gifs on tumblr mobile are always a little blurred out? this kind of makes the gifs look less clear </3 so using higher quality videos always helps!
Tumblr media
2. vapoursynth / avisynth / km player!
these are softwares to sharpen and denoise your videos! they're completely optional (i used to gif with photoshop alone for the longest time) but they do make quite a lot of difference!
i highly recommend you to check the tutorials below!
gif-making with vapoursynth tutorial by @wonublr
gif-making with avisynth tutorial by @soonhoonsol
gif-making with km player (and vapoursynth!) tutorial by @woozi
a smol opinion: i've never used km player, so i don't have much to say about it. as for avisynth, it's pretty easy to work with, the only down side is that there are no denoise options. vapoursynth has both and is very user-friendly, but i found the shift from avisynth to vapoursynth slightly confusing!
these are my usual settings for vapoursynth:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. gif sizes!
a very big (and maybe bullshit) opinion:
now, tumblr recommends you size your gifs this way:
Tumblr media
(img src)
but it,, doesn't necessarily have to be that way 👁
i really like to fuck around and use whatever size i want for my 268px and my 177px gifs, and the wendy set was no exception! the size of each gif in the set was 400px X 580px!! this, in my opinion, makes it easier to view them (a lot more clear, you could say) :o
as for my 540px gifs, they remain the same size!
Tumblr media
4. sharpening on photoshop!
i would always recommend you to sharpen your gifs again on photoshop. tumblr LOVES reducing gif quality, so i resharpen to give my gifs some 'depth'
this is how i usually sharpen my gifs:
Tumblr media
(the gif above was sharpened and denoised on vs w the settings mentioned above!)
step 01:
after you're done converting your gif into a smart object on photoshop, we'll add a layer of smart sharpen. these are my settings:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
step 02: more... smart sharpen :eye: :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
step 03: high pass (optional tbh)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
imp: don't forget to change the blending to soft light / overlay (i prefer the former)
now the gif looks like this:
Tumblr media
something to note: i like switching up my opacity levels on these settings, and usually only ever change the radius and strength of the sharpening!
here's a few more sharpening tutorials:
sharpening tutorial by @/woozi
tutorial by @/hellboys
tutorial by @yutaslaugh
Tumblr media
5. colouring!
colouring plays a huge role in making your gifs look sharper and cleaner! this is your playground, and this is the area you have the most freedom to change, and zuzsh up things the way you like them!
generally, i like to draw the attention to the person i'm giffing, so i make sure to set the contrasts right! i also extremely like making the colours cooler, so that it seems more natural!
the layers i use most are:
curves (on auto)
more cuves (using the eyedroppers to set my black, grey and white points)
selective colour (to change contrasts, to recolour skin)
colour balance (to balance my shadows and highlights)
levels (for brightness, contrast and depth!)
Tumblr media
i'm not extremely good at colouring either, so here are some more in depth colouring tutorials (i'm terrible at explaining i'm so sorry sksjkd):
colouring tutorial by @/jihan
south-east asian celeb colouring tutorial by @/blueshelp
and here's some pre-made psd packs!:
psd pack by @/kpopco
psd pack by @shuatonin
Tumblr media
psd pack by @coupsnim
psd pack by @/wonublr
closing ments:
if you've made it this far, thank you! i'm not extremely great at explaining things, but i hope you found this 'tutorial' useful! (extremely confused what this is tbh it feels like i'm rambling sgkfjsh)
here's a few more tutorials (kinda unrelated) that i found useful and fun!:
tutorial to fix grainy gifs
tutorial to remove panning from gifs
animated text tutorial
gif + more effects tutorial

My summer makeup – what I use and why.
My summer makeup routine is quite simple, mainly because I live in the humidity equivalent of a rice cooker. I deal with high humidity and high temperatures all summer long and most of the time, the makeup is just there to make me feel a little more pulled together. So here’s what I use.
Matte concealer – NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop Concealer
Depending on the day, I will or won’t let this concealer with a powder. Some days I don’t and the concealer sets on it’s own beautifully, and some days I do since it’s so moist outside that if I don’t it will just come off my face. A matte concealer works to counteract the sweating and humidity that I deal with. If you are looking to emulate this, I would definitely suggest a thin, matte concealer, that way when you do sweat and if the makeup gets broken up, it’s not in thick layers on your skin. The name of the game is thin layers that don’t weigh down your skin.
Highlight – Tower 28 Beauty SuperDew No Shimmer Highlight
I am not a massive fan of powder highlight unless I’m going to be photographed, so I like having a “wet” highlight. This one doesn’t clog my pores or irritate my skin, so that’s why I pick this one. If I get sweaty, the highlight pulls together the (un)intentional dewy look. You’ve just gotta work with the sweat if you live where I do. This highlight looks the most natural on me while still being noticeable. The name of the game with wet highlights is not being able to feel them once they’re applied.
Mascara – elf cosmetics lash ‘n’ roll mascara
Mascara pulls my looks together for me; if I only want to wear one bit of makeup, it’ll usually be mascara. This one is affordable for me, doesn’t irritate my eyes, and wears well. I haven’t had issues with humidity effecting the mascara beyond drooping the eyelashes. I personally go for a more natural lash look without clumping and with tapered length effects on the lashes.
Shimmer eyeshadow – colourpop shadow palettes
I just like shimmer eyeshadow. I go for chunky almost glittery eyeshadows, which make an illusion of moisturized skin from a distance. This is a way to get a ‘wet’ look without actually having sticky eyelids. I like colourpop (eye)shadow a lot, it’s never irritated my eyes or skin, and it’s affordable for me. I reach for Deja Brew in the summer a lot and Petals en Pointe in the winter. I really like one color all over the lid and blended out and these are good for me to do that. You can use literally any eyeshadow though. I would stress having one that you know doesn’t irritate your eyes so that if any sweat gets into your eyes, you can naturally cry/rinse it out with limited irritation.
Matte Lipstick – merit signature lipstick
Soft matte lips are low maintenance and flattering. I personally don’t wear nude lips or natural-coloured lipsticks since I find my lips to be pigmented enough as they are. I’ll normally wear coloured lips if it’s something like a red. The right soft matte lip will feel like nothing on the lips and wear down better than a balmy formula. It also eliminates any stickiness on your lips that may cling to hair or add more weight to your face when your sweating. The soft matte lip isn’t the 2016 caked on matte lipstick, instead it’s a thin layer of matte lipstick or a thin layer of blotted off satin lipstick. This leaves a barely-there feeling while having pigment on your lips.
Lip Oil / Balm – Merit Shade Slick lip oil / Merit flush balm
If you do want that extra slip on your lips, I would still suggest wearing something lighter than a lip gloss. You totally can if that’s what you’re used to, but I find that lip oils and balms tend to be lighter and less sticky. Shade Slick has no fragrance and very flattering shades while the Flush Balm also has no fragrance and has a comfortable balm slip to it. It’s just whichever you prefer. It totally does not have to be these lips that I mentioned; Burts Bees has a really nice tinted lip balm, the drug store has some great lip oils now, and you can even just get a matte lipstick and layer on a little balm on top for the same look.
Overall, this look is just meant to be a little bit more than nothing. It’s for the days where you do want to wear something, but you don’t want to have to lock it down like drag makeup to keep it in place. An aspect of this routine is that it will wear off, just evenly wearing off. Feel free to take this routine and make it your own with what you prefer/what works best for you, and let me know if there are any summer products you swear by.
Happy travels – Annie, the crosseyed cricket.

Writing/OC art asks for whichever OC you'd like!
pencil, paintbrush, Copics, tortillon, pastels, and creative!
Thanks! :D I'll do this for Yo-han from The Case Files of Seo Yo-han:
Pencil: does this character have any "sketchy" habits? Have they ever broken the law? Do they regret it?:
He doesn't exactly have any sketchy habits (apart from being interested in other people's business :P ), but he technically breaks the law twice: at the end of Silver Glass and the start of Houses Full of Deceit. In SG he lets a murderer go (but under the circumstances it would have been worse not to let him go) and in HFOD he lets an assassin stay in his house.
Paintbrush: How often does your character "brush over" conflict instead of facing it head on? Is there something specific they don't like to face, or do they avoid conflict as a whole?:
He's a detective, so seeking out conflict is basically his job :P When not detecting, though, he tries to avoid his family. Specifically his stepmother, because he once accused her of poisoning his mother (who was actually dying of cancer). Which makes family reunions slightly awkward ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (In his defence, he was thirteen at the time.)
Copics: what is this character's most expensive habit or hobby? Do they ever feel guilty about the money they spend on it?:
Travelling the world to solve mysteries. Guilty? Not really, but sometimes he gets tired of it.
Tortillon: does your OC "blend in" with the people around them? Physically? Metaphorically?:
Not really. He's Korean and so far the other main characters are British, Hungarian or Armenian, and he notices things no one else does.
Pastels: Give me three colours that best represent your OC. Now give me three colours that your OC likes best. Is there an overlap?:
Hmm... when I pick colours that represent an OC, I pick ones they wear at least once. Unfortunately men's clothes in 1915 had a very limited selection of colours ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Sooo... black, white and grey, I guess?
His favourite colours: dark red, purple and light blue.
Creative!: free space! Share something you've been dying to share about your writing! Could be an OC that never gets the limelight, a moment you were proud of, or anything else you'd like to share:
I've talked about Yo-han, so now I'll talk about his arch-enemy :D
An Ji-hun started out as a supporting character in Like Snow on Hungry Graves, where he was a hitman working for Rusudan who fell in love with a mer. (A different mer than Hariye; that poor kid's been through enough without having to deal with Ji-hun too.) Several outline revisions later, and I realised his subplot no longer fit the story. So his character got cut.
Then when I started planning Houses Full of Deceit, I realised I needed another assassin. And since it's set in Korea, why not reuse the Korean assassin I've already invented? So that's how Ji-hun went from a fantasy kingdom based on medieval Georgia to a semi-realistic 1910s Korea :D
(Incidentally his appearance is based on Lee Dong-wook as Seo Moon-jo. This started as an in-joke because Rusudan collects her victims' teeth like Moon-jo. After he moved WIPs this becomes a different in-joke, because Seo Yo-han's surname is a reference to Moon-jo.)
Adding The Unfortunate Moth's and Silver Glass's taglists: @akindofmagictoo, @lightgriffinsect, @original-writing, @zonnemaagd, @oh-no-another-idea, @verba-writing, @kittensartswriting, @writingpotato07, @sarahlizziewrites, @acertainmoshke, @author-a-holmes, @sam-glade, @late-to-the-fandom (Let me know if you want to be added to/removed from the taglist!)

Hi guys,
Now Halloween has been and gone it is officially festive season and that means glitter! During the festive period most brands will release more glittery high shine formulated products for festive season and Charlotte Tilbury may have just released her best product yet!
In Charlotte's festive collection she has released a brand new product with a brand new formula called Hypnotising Pop Shots. These are individual high shine glittery eyeshadows are £25.00 each and come in 7 colours. I am already obsessed with this new formula because each shade whether worn by itself or added to a look, it leaves your eyes looking they are covered in jewels and diamonds. Formula wise it reminds me of the Pop shade in the Fire Rose palette where it is had the glitter creamy shine shade that blended like a dream.
Given that I have zero self control I picked up 4 of the shades, so let's chat about each colour. Starting from the top right swatch we have Sunlit Diamond which is a warm shimmering gold. Then on the bottom left corner we have the shade Smokey Quartz which is a mink eyeshadow with a pearlescent silver shimmer, this shade is perfect to add some glitz to a smokey eye. The middle shade is Rose Gold which has a champagne peach shimmer to the colour. Lastly on the bottom right we have Cosmic Rock which is a multi-chrome blue, purple and turquoise eyeshadow. This shade is so out of this world it would be perfect for a night out.
While I do wish these shades were put in one palette so it would be cheaper to collect, I do each shade and think they are worth the hype without a doubt! This year Charlotte is really killing it with the Christmas gift sets and her mini sets are really good value this year and would make a great present for sure. I have linked all the shades mentioned above since they are limited edition so grab them while you can because I wouldn't be surprised if they sell out soon.
Lots of love

Can you explain why I had a good day today? I was playing the game and I was happy. I don't understand in what way I am supposed to pull away from this game
You stopped fighting. You knew where your limits lie. Your gut tells you where the line is and when not to step over. And today you listened.
So that's it? It took one day? You telling me I'm so good at integrating energy that it takes place overnight now? Am I missing something here?
[I overhear my mother on the phone "It's 10:15pm here, so it's 6:15pm in Vietnam right now...the (my uncle's) jewellery shop must be closed] Yes. We're done, so things being a struggle is just an appearance. It is that fast because it's already done.
What is the point of this. Why does it have to come up at all, if it is already done? Why do we still play this cause and effect game that has zero impact?
The game is finished. We pick things up, we put things down. We throw it at the wall and see what sticks. This did not stick, it slid.
Like a turd down a toilet. So now what? What are you going to choose next? And how do I reconcile all these change-of-minds...
Are you disappointed to realise that you are God? To know that this is is what I do? I can do as I please. What are you but a painting I am painting. You are just colours that I blended. You are what I lay down on the canvas. You are the hem of a dress I shift this way, then back again. The eye I scrub out and start again. The light and the shadow. I brush a stroke, lift the brush, dip it in water. Clean it. Get back to work. What do you want? What do you want?
Nothing I guess. I've known for a long time that there is nothing to hold onto anymore. Perhaps this is just more in that process of letting go completely. If I create my reality, it means I hold all the colours simultaneously and I am coming to terms with this sense of infinity. You didn’t answer my question before, what is going on with the energy now then?
Nothing much. A few dogs in the house wandering around, like loose thoughts being herded up before allowing oneself to rest. The same ideas as before, nothing new. You neglected the dog's water bowl, and you solved the issue instantly. There is a new turd in the hallway, what of it? Clean it up before you go to bed. Why not? Just a few chores.
So we're in a limbo right now? Essentially nothing is happening and we are stalling for nothing. This is my last question because I think this is ridiculous.
What? So what? I am god. I can stand back and look at the picture, can't I? Observe what I have done. Relax. You are nothing.

N64 Game
My third board with the idea of making another N64/PS1 game like a couple of my previous projects. I started with adding a lot of images on the level design in Spyro (released on the PS1) because of the colour palette. I love the Skyboxes and the blend between cold and warm colours. From this, I started adding images from actual N64/PS1 games because I wanted some direct inspiration from the originals. A lot of the images I started to add at this point we're all combinations of both using a more nonsensical, vaporwave aesthetic. Through the majority of the middle, I began to add retro renders or pictures that used a lot of film grain and darker colours, as well as some beach settings that used bright contrasting colours and sharp layering to make some really strange artwork. The reason I added this was just because I began to realise what I wanted this game to look like, which was a modern, N64/PS1 style coastal vaporwave aesthetic. This eventually lead me into these retro games that already looked similar to what I was envisioning, such as the Kirby fountain of dreams. After this, I’d pinned my ideas down to the old animal crossing games, specifically those with a beach and sunset. I realised this is what I wanted for my game, in more of a openworld, 3rd person style to give myself and the players more freedom.
Tumblr media
The main art style I’m looking at from this, is all of the pink, purple and orange, low poly renders, reminiscent of the PS1/N64 games. Off of this I also want to explore the coastal themes shown at the top just because I love the warmth and coziness that comes from it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The themes for this mind map were: Gameplay, N64/Ps1, story and Aesthetic. Starting off with N64/PS1, which I chose because it is extremely important to get right if I want this game to feel as it should. The first thing to consider when making a game in this style is that it needs to look like it has limitations, because the older consoles would have. 64x64 res textures are a good way to achieve this, where you can pixelate a full res texture and use that instead. Aside from this, all of the models are going to have to be low poly to achieve the look, because rendering engines at that time were limited to a lower poly count. Chromatic aberration is the effect that refracts light around the edges of objects, although this effect would have been seen through the CRTV and not the game itself, It would mean a lot of unnecessary hassle to get this playing on one of those. The film grain adds noise to the screen, even just a subtle one can have a more retro or warming effect on a game. Similarly to the chromatic aberration, this would have originally been through the CRTV but can be replicated in the unreal engine post processing. What a lot of games look over when trying to replicate something like this is the fog. Older consoles needed to use fog on third party games so they rendered properly. Onto Aesthetic, which I used to try and gauge what type of atmosphere I wanted to set for my game. I picked vaporwave because I have been really obsessed with city pop and 80’s Japan recently, vaporwave is a more modernised take on that aesthetic. I was also looking into mario sunshine for one of the bigger inspirations, aesthetic wise, because it is based by the coast and looks extremely similar to what I’ve been picturing. I put down story because I haven’t been able to add much story to my previous games in this style because of my obsession with making it accurate. Because it's a island management game, there needs to be some context for how you get to be in that position of power, because of this i’ve put down animal crossing, they handle those introductions extremely well. SOmething like stardew valley would also be a good start to the game, inheriting the land through a late family member. I like the idea of it having sentimental value. I had a couple different ideas for the gameplay if the island management didn’t work out. I think a cafe or city management game would be an awesome idea.

SP-RSA: Retail Research, Pimple Patches
Week 4
I looked at Boots and Superdrug for Patches for Acne, ranging in different names such as 'Blemish Stickers', 'Blemish Dots', 'Pimple Patches'.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Purifide 'Power Patch'
Retails as Boots for £9.99 for 36 individual patches, approx 28p each, per spot
2 different sizes in the box, 18 of each
4-12 hours
Contains Salicylic Acid, Centella Asiatica, Canadian Willowherb
I didn't test these so no personal observations
Tumblr media
Pixl 'Clarity Blemish Stickers'
Retails at Boots for £12 for 24 stickers, 50p per sticker or spot
1 size in box
Contains Salicylic Acid, Cica Acide Slicylique, Cica
I didn't test these so no personal observations
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deep Action 'Blemish Stickers'
Retails at SuperDrug for £5.99 for 30 stickers, approx 20p per sticker or spot
2 different styles in a box of similar sizes
Contains Salicyclic Acid, Niacinamide
Minimum 8 hours, single use
I tried these out, I didn't have any blemishes to use them on, but they stuck to my face and didn't peel off for the 8 hrs it said it would. The designs are cute, but could be considered a little childish for my target market age group. The stickers are thin feeling, lightweight so you end up forgetting you're wearing them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Starface 'Hydro-Star Pimple Patches'
Retails at Boots and SuperDrug for £10.99 for 32 Patches, 34p per patch or pimple
1 size and style in a box, apart from limited edition boxes such as 'Hydro-Blooms'
Contains Salicylic Acid
6+ hours or overnight, single use
I tried out the Blue Hydro-Stars that contain Salicylic Acid on a very small spot. Over a few hours it absorbed liquid from it. It was very lightweight, forgot it was there, and didn't pick at my spot while it was healing. I didn't feel insecure while wearing it, the bright colours and star design is simple, but it felt like a bit of a fashion statement wearing it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Boots 'Blemish Dots'
Retails at Boots for £4.00 for 24 dots, approx 17p per dot or spot
Multiple sizes of patches in a box
Contains Tea Tree and Witch Hazel
6-12 hours, single use
I tried these out. I didn't have any acne to test them on. But they were a good size that would cover most individual breakouts, and they were think and lightweight and blended into the skin. Out of all the patches I tried these were the most discreet. It moved well with the contours of my hand, and didn't wrinkle or peel with movement.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hero 'Mighty Patch'
Retail at Boots for £3.99 for 12 patches, approx 33p per patch or spot
2 different options in a pack, Original and Invisible
Contains Hydrocolloid
6-8hrs, single use
I tried these out, but didn't have acne to test it on. The original was quite thick, similar to a blister plaster. I can imagine this one would be more absorbant for bigger breakouts due to this. The invisible one was more subtle and blended into the skin. I am going to get some of my friends who experience breakouts to try these out more, as for conditions such as acne vulgaris that the trans community may experience, the product needs to work for extreme breakouts, not just whiteheads.
Tumblr media
I tested 3 pimple patches on my hand, Hero Mighty Patch Original (left), Hero Mighty Patch Invisible (Middle) and Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Blemish Dots (Right)
Tumblr media
I tested out Pimple Patches on my face, Deep Action Blemish Stickers (Left) and Starface Hydro Star (Right).

10 Tips for Beginners in Knife Painting Classes in Thane
Introduction
Embarking on a journey into the world of knife painting can be an exhilarating experience, especially for beginners in Thane. The unique technique offers a dynamic and textured approach to creating captivating and satisfying art. To help you make the most of your knife painting classes, here are ten invaluable tips to set you on the right path towards mastering this art form.
1. Invest in Quality Materials
Before you even pick up a knife, it's crucial to start with good-quality materials. Opt for high-grade canvas, brushes, and, of course, a reliable set of painting knives. These tools are the foundation of your artistic journey.
2. Understand Your Knives
Each knife has a specific purpose. From the flat-edged palette knife to the angled trowel knife, take time to familiarize yourself with the different types and their functions. Knowing which knife to use for specific effects will significantly enhance your painting skills.
3. Master the Basics of Color Mixing
Knife painting relies heavily on adequate colour mixing. Learn the fundamentals of primary and secondary colours and experiment with blending techniques. This will allow you to create a broad spectrum of shades and tones.
4. Start with Simple Subjects
Beginners should start with uncomplicated subjects. Simple landscapes or still-life scenes are excellent starting points. Focus on mastering the techniques before moving on to more complex compositions.
5. Practice Patience and Precision
Knife painting demands patience. Take your time to apply each stroke deliberately. Precision is critical, and a steady hand will produce more refined results.
6. Embrace Texture and Depth
One of the unique aspects of knife painting is the rich texture it imparts. Feel free to layer paint and experiment with different techniques to achieve depth and dimension in your artwork.
7. Learn to Adapt and Adjust
Mistakes happen. Instead of getting discouraged, view them as opportunities to learn and grow. Knife painting allows for corrections and adjustments, making it a forgiving medium.
8. Study Light and Shadow
Understanding how light interacts with objects is crucial for creating realistic and dynamic paintings. Study the play of light and shadow in your subjects to add depth and realism to your artwork.
9. Experiment with Different Surfaces
Don't limit yourself to canvas alone. Try painting on various surfaces like wood, paper, or even fabric. Each surface will yield different textures and effects.
10. Seek Feedback and Keep Learning
Lastly, always continue learning. Joining a knife painting class in Thane opens up opportunities for feedback and critique from experienced artists. Embrace constructive criticism, as it will fuel your growth as an artist.

2D Platformer Research
For this task I was told to research three 2d platformers, these being: Celeste, Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog.
Sonic the Hedgehog is an incredibly innovative 2d platformer that shifted the entire industry when it first launched in 1991, in the game you play as the titular Sonic the Hedgehog who can run, crouch, roll up into a ball (in this state he can only move via prior gained momentum) and jump. He can also pick up various power ups and rings that help him stay alive and survive the various levels' harzards.
Tumblr media
The levels in sonic are dotted with various tubes and tunnels that sonic can only fit into if in his balled state. Other levels elements such as loop-de-loops and sharp upwards turns require momentum gained from the ball state to fully clear.
Sonics character design is incredibly striking distinct, the spines on the back of his head almost resemble speed lines that you would see in an anime or cartoon. The character design of sonic perfectly blends typically cute elements with typically cool elements to create a character that identifies with young teens (the original target audience for the first sonic game.)
Tumblr media
Next up we have Mario, arguably the most iconic video game character ever invented, who was created by Shigeru Miyamoto in 1981 for the original Donkey Kong arcade game and later starred in his own game "Super Mario Bros." released in 1985.
Super Mario Bros. essentially invented (or at least popularized) the formula that most platforming games follow today, with side scrolling platforming, level progression, power-ups and level hazards like koopas, goombas and whatnot.
Tumblr media
The original small Mario sprite is only 16x16 pixels, but by using an incredibly unique design for its time that makes use of vibrant, popping colours and adorable facial features like a moustache and tiny eyes.
This design eventually evolved from the 16x16 sprite however to make him more appealing and consistent across the different games he was a part of.
Tumblr media
Mario developed more features like blue eyes, the letter M on his hat and white fabric gloves (as well as a more expressive face and body in general.)
In Mario games the levels are often designed around jumping, precise platforming and stomping on stage enemies. There are also various power-ups and surprises around the levels to either throw off or assist you in reaching the end (which is marked by a large flag pole.) Because this gameplay loop is so flexible and has such a high skill ceiling this means that players can push this game to the absolute limits and highly rewards skill (seriously, watch some speed-runs of the original game its NUTS.)
Tumblr media
Finally Celeste, a pixel 2D side-scroller featuring Madeline, a character who can wall climb (only for a short time though), dash, jump and surf (only through specific blocks found throughout the game.) The levels of Celeste are extremely difficult and madelines move-set perfectly helps her maneuver through the challenging levels.
Tumblr media
The games art style is also of note, being a pixel art platformer with many modern influences and detailed art.

Moment of Awesome - Alison Blaire/Dazzler:Following the X-Men's defeat at the hands of the Brotherhood, Alison gives Nica a private lightshow in the name of recharging her.
Alison burst into Nica's room, one hand holding a 'Get Well Soon' balloon that had had 'Well' scratched out with black sharpie and replaced with a hand-written 'EM'ed' and the other full of a box that contained a pair of small little chocolate mousse cakes. They had raspberry coulis on top and dark chocolate crust with a white and milk chocolate mousse layers, and the cold was starting to sting Alison's hand a bit.
"Hello Nica, I heard you needed help." Her smile (or maybe that was her power) lit up the room.
Nica looked up from her laptop. Megan had switched it to voice-to-text for her, which helped, but she was still very aware of how much not being able to touch things was limiting her. Composing an email to her professors explaining that there was an outbreak of chicken pox in her shared living space and that the doctors had told her to isolate had taken her an hour.
Still, the sight of the balloon had her smiling. It was just too cute for words. "Yeah, I really do," she replied. "But you didn't have to go to all that trouble?"
"Please," Alison said with a smile and a shrug, "I was already making mousse cakes and I definitely shouldn't eat them all myself anyways. Besides, chocolate makes everything better." She set the box on a nearby table. "How are you feeling?"
"Insubstantial?" Nica shrugged. "I mean, I don't have to focus on not fading out entirely or concentrate on staying in one place as much as I was, but this is getting old. Real old." She demonstrated by passing her hand through the box of cakes. "Any help at all would be awesome."
"Whoa... you're like a ghost. ~~Young Danny Fenton, he was just 14 when his parents built a very strange machine~~" She smiled, but it was kinda brittle. "Give me a second to set up my phone and get some music going and I'll see what I can do. Any preference in genre?"
“Whatever your powers like best? Is that even a thing?” Nica realised she didn’t actually know much about Allison’s powers beyond “converting sound into light frequencies. “I’ll never say no to Beyonce, if my choice doesn’t change things.”
"Nah, not really," Alison said, thumbing through the playlist. She was actually... kind of embarrassingly light on Beyonce music, she realized. It wasn't her fault, though! These phones could only hold like, thirty thousand songs or something, and she had to pick and choose her favorites once space began to run low. "I mean, kind of yes, but basically not really. As long as I'm not the one making the sound, I can technically convert anything, more or less? The effect is just different, is all."
She found a song. "This will do, actually." She pressed play, and 'Halo' begin to fill the room. "Good solid drum echo for the grey stone flashes, fluttery piano for the feathersweeps... yeah, this should have a good blend. Let's see how this goes."
And she let her power play.
Nica hadn’t really seen a lot of Allison’s powers in use before, so she was curious to watch them up close. And you didn’t get more up close than being on the receiving end. First Allison’s eyes began to glow, then the rest of her body, until she was encompassed in a… well, yes, it was a halo of light. As the song built up and the volume increased, rainbow-coloured streamers undulated through the air around them, while she could literally see the drum beat as a series of waves, darker in colour, moving along the floor. Then the light hit her and she sucked in a sudden breath. It was like being dropped into a spa bath when you were exhausted – bubbles of sensation percolating around her body, seeping into her skin and bringing with them a sense of solidity as she felt her powers grasp at the EM wavelengths contained in the visible light. She dropped to the floor from her slight hovering above the ground, delighting in the feel of carpet under her toes.
The process was slow, but thankfully not terribly difficult, and after a good twenty minutes Alison could start to see some color coming back into Nica's cheeks. And her everything else, for that matter. She'd gone from a mostly incorporeal spectre-like appearance to actually having a definite outline again, for one thing. It was like a bad special effect from an old B-movie, only it was real life and it was honestly kind of cool to watch.
