Ok, Feldup recs post!

Mostly my opinion (which is wildly positive) on his most recent album, Stared at from a Distance.

Warnings, this entire album talks about Feldup's SA from a woman twice his age. It's hard to listen to, it was hard to listen to for me, who suffered through no such experiences and isn't triggered, squicked or made uncomfortable by many things.

First, I'd advise that you listen to the entire album all at once (which breaks throughout if needed), in order and with lyrics (there are subtitles in the linked video). I promise it's worth it. Now for my favorite songs :

Stared at from a Distance (2nd track, 12:06), is obviously incredible and one of my faves. It's pretty long and is way more explicit on what it's talking about than Waters (4:55), the first track (which I really liked too, the music video for it is excellently made as well). I really love the way the instrumental and beat switches throughout to accompany the story, and the end of the song made me think I was going to cry (I just needed to sneeze but tbh it's still crying material). Really good, if you listen to only one song in the album I think it should be this one. (Side note, I'm also wondering if I didn't hear part of that song when I was at Feldup's concert - it was before the album was out, but you know. I don't think I heard all of it, but maybe I just forgot).

Naked and Afraid (3rd track, 3:11) is very good and picks up very well after the second track. It makes you understand that this album really is a story you're following, and you're going to get every detail of it. The following track, Dizzy (4:11) is transitioned to so well I thought it was the same song (it's also excellent), and Fear of Abandonment (4:07) right after is like. Painful. /pos

Shove it (6th track, 03:39) is honestly terrifying to listen to, and it works very well for its subject. I don't even have much to talk about for this one, it's just really good. The 7th track, Moment of Sobriety (5:30) managed to be even scarier, because of how real it gets then (if that makes sense. The whole album is painfully real, and it reminds you of this regularly).

Crying as a Weapon (8th track, 5:20) is where I had to take a break. I think it might be one of the most relatable songs for many people who were abused, not just sexually.

Death of an Illusion (9th track, 10:23) is the other very long track of this album and it is, unsurprisingly, incredible, and one of my absolute favorites. It's also one I could relate to a lot, and its progression is very satisfying. It Never Leaves (9:09) is similar to Death of an Illusion, its continuity, and its ending made me incredibly happy.

The last one, To Love Again (4:49), is the song I enjoyed the less, musically speaking, but one of my favorites nevertheless, and a perfect ending for the album in my opinion. It also has a shift in the... well, not the narration, but I guess the message, somewhat (trying not to spoil because it's so incredible to realize to me), which entirely convinced me this is actually my favorite album of all time construction-wise.

In conclusion, Oh My Fucking God this is so incredible.

Feldup is a great person who writes incredible texts and makes excellent music. The constructions of his songs and the way his story is told throughout eleven tracks is beautiful and heartbreaking and hopeful, and it genuinely is currently changing my brain chemistry /hj. It is so good. It's on Spotify and Bandcamp for sure, and I think it's on most other streaming services, and you still have the Youtube video I linked at the top. Please give it a try.

I'll quickly give my favorite songs from his other album, A Thousand Doors, Just One Key, but they're all really good too : Falling Apart (2nd track, 4:08) which is his most known song as far as I'm aware and is a fucking banger from the first notes, Mental Health (6th, 4:25), Attention (3rd, 3:54), and Stockholm (10th, 11:21), which holds one of my favorite lyrics ever (There is no cure/I am the disease).

not gonna lie, I'm having the time of my life right now :) shit's been crazy and I'm learning to enjoy things the way they are while still adding my own flair.

I know you're probably wondering about the future of this blog and if specific posts will have their 2nd or 3rd part, but it's truly TRULY up in the air. I've been busy with my own endeavors, and so has Admin 2.

I am no longer as heavily invested in kpop and its glamour, nor do I take the time to witness my faves' personal growth on Youtube or through social media anymore.

It was a realization that hit me one day, I had my post notifications on for all of my biases (and other celebrities) and I was getting so bothered with my phone vibrating constantly throughout the day. I was asking myself "do I really care or is kpop culture telling me I should care?"

And I will not be taking any slander in how much of a chokehold I was in, this ain't the first time ya'll are going to hear about a K-pop stan finally admitting it was a phase and that yes, we were influenced and pressured into K-pop stan culture as YOUNG AND IMPRESSIONABLE TEENAGERS but that's not the conversation I'm bringing up (and some of yall choose to continue to participate, I'm talking bout the ones who realize this shit is not "fun and playful" anymore the more your mind matures and the deeper you are into Kpop and the culture).

And as a heavily invested BTS ARMY, CHESIRE (rip), NCTZEN, ONCE, REVELUV, BLINK, and many more, I just couldn't keep spending so much time on figures that are literally not adding anything substantial to my current life. K-pop evolved into a form of escapism for me and I was ready to live in the moment.

I got into the world of Korean culture and pop at one of the lowest moments in my life that I can consciously remember and recall. So of course I made this genre, this culture, part of my core happiness during a period of personal devastation.

Post notifications from my faves would come as often as bad news and unfavorable moments. Without even knowing, I waited for the good news from K-pop to put the bandaid over the mental pain I endured from my day-to-day. I eventually became more hopeful and positive BECAUSE I looked forward to something so simple and insignificant as a "Thank you JAKARTA 💜💜💜💜💜💜" I'm not even from that place and I was just as elated (and jealous ofc) for the fans that got to see them.

In the same way Rap/Hip-Hop can be a way of life as well as change your outlook on life, and Metal/Rock can be a way of life, K-pop can also be a way of life and change your outlook on life.

But when I realized I don't need a bandaid or balm anymore, K-pop stopped becoming a focal point. It's my guilty pleasure on Youtube when I'm h*gh and my 500 hr K-pop playlist is now used for the rainy days I rarely have.

The moment was like, "Oh, it's just Haechan that posted," when it used to be "OMG HAECHAN POSTED AISUHDUISGIUE." I used to see one K-pop-related thing, and happily jump into a wormhole of Youtube videos, stan Twitter posts, and heated discussions on album theories.

My love for K-pop turned into appreciation for the good music I liked, not strict devotion to the artist. Because that's the reality of almost all art forms. See it for how it is and it's just like everything else; just attach meaning to it and now it's something special.

I'm just a fan of K-pop nowadays lol. I used to be so annoyed at know-it-all 2nd gen stans as a new K-pop stan, but look at me now. A know-it-all 3rd gen fan who looks at 4th gen with distaste lmao. But it is what it is. And 4th gen is a little... anyways...

BUT NOW I KNOW HOW 2ND GENERATION FANS FELT WHEN 3RD GEN CAME AROUND. And it's just because I grew out of it, K-pop will always be tailored to younger audiences and I'm well past that.

I sometimes listen to the Kpop ON playlist on Spotify, without bias (pun is definitely intended), and occasionally see that stan Twitter is the exact way I left it (they say the game doesn't change, just the players). I still get a little excited to see which new groups are about to debut, groups that i miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight wanna do some light research on just to remember what it felt like to be introduced to the new personality.

Nowadays, my thought's on what I hear or see are like this:

"Are there any new survival shows? I probably won't watch it, but what are yall saying about it now"

"..."

"FUCK I FORGOT JIN'S GOING TO THE MILITARY"

"...Why is (random group) still dropping music..."

"NOT YOU TOO HOBI"

"I wonder if Joy is still with Crush"

"I wonder when Jennie is gonna go solo"

And I don't indulge in these thoughts too much because it isn't as imperative to me as they used to be. I treat those thoughts just like any other thought that doesn't require my immediate attention. I'll always love my k-pop phase, but I'll never forget my roots! 2018 me would probably cuss me the fuck out if she found out I still haven't listened to Jimin's new song or listened to NCT 127's latest repackage (please tell me I didn't miss another release).

In conclusion, I began treating K-pop like any other genre;

I'm gonna keep talking my shit.

If there's good music, I'll listen and might playlist it.

If there's not, I'll keep it pushing.

Any interesting news? Lemme see what it's about.

I am not invested enough to create fanfic anymore.

☁️ 10 tips on studying when your motivation’s nowhere to be found

i got an ask about this yesterday and decided to turn my reply into a post because having trouble focusing when you’re super unmotivated is really common, so i thought more people might find this helpful :) buckle up kiddos, this is gonna be a long one!

1. i want you to remember that this is a universal experience.

every student out there struggles like hell sometimes, and that’s completely normal; you’re not a machine and that means you can’t possibly churn out work 24/7 without burning out. so try not to beat yourself up too much okay, you’re doing great!

2. take a deep breath and identify the reason you’re feeling like this

are you burnt out because of stress or overworking yourself? are you overwhelmed by the amount of tasks on your plate? is there a particular assignment or exam scaring you to the point where you don’t want to start studying? these are all normal reasons for lack of motivation and knowing the why will help you figure out the how - you gotta know the problem to solve it.

3. i know you feel like you’re months behind, but start small

small achievements accumulate. repeat this sentence to yourself daily, write it on a sticky note and keep it on the wall above your desk (it’s exactly what i did). break up daunting tasks into smaller ones; got a billion formulae to know by heart? memorise 3 every day (you’ll have memorised more than 20 by the end of the week!). got a long chapter to study? divide it into smaller chunks and just focus on 1-3 pages a day. slow and steady, you can do it

4. the pomodoro technique is a lifesaver!

i always use this technique when i’m feeling unmotivated and cannot focus. sometimes, your mind just won’t stop wandering off and so scheduling regular breaks is a must! try going for 25 minutes of work, followed by a 5 minute break, then repeat the cycle :) you’ll be less tempted to prolong your break if you know there’s another one coming in less than half an hour. if 25min is too long, try just 15 minutes of focus and work your way up form there - there’s no shame in studying in really short bursts! sometimes that’s all you can bring yourself to do and that’s okay! and if you can, i really recommend a 45/15 or 50/10 ratio (those are the ratios me and my friend - 2nd year med students - use the most :))

5. track your productivity

use the forest mobile app or a hand-drawn productivity tracker in your bujo - a visual representation of productivity will activate the reward system part of your brain. it’s the same part that’s involved in addiction formation and you can use it to your advantage - get a mini high from seeing your effort, not only from seeing your results!

6. set up a reward system

continuing on that tangent: sometimes, a short break isn’t enough motivation to stay focused. sometimes, you gotta pull a little sneaky on yourself and bribe your brain. some examples: - ‘if i can manage to reach 3 hours of productivity today, i’ll watch my fave movie in the evening’ - ‘i’ll have a bubble bath once i finish reading this chapter’ - ‘if i complete this assignment by the end of the week, i can do absolutely nothing the whole day come Saturday’

7. consider different sources/modes of studying

switching things up can do wonders; try making flashcards on quizlet, watching youtube videos on the topics you’ll be tested on, you can read wikipedia articles (wikipedia is severely underrated!), browse for podcasts on the topic, there’s a million different ways to learn, not just sitting down and reading from your textbook for hours on end :) on a similar note, if you have the option, try studying elsewhere - go to the kitchen table or study on the floor - beware of the bed and sofa! not a good idea, you’ll most likely end up taking a nap.

8. take care of your body and your mental health

have you drunk enough water today? have you eaten enough vitamin-rich foods? make a healthy snack! or get your fave comfort food, that works too, extra serotonin :) have you been outside in the past 3 days? if not, i highly recommend a short walk outside (if your corona regulations allow it, ofc). i know getting out of your house is hard, i suck at it myself, but getting fresh air and direct sunlight is crucial for your wellbeing! think of yourself as a slightly more complicated house plant:) you gotta nourish to flourish!

9. stop for a second and think how you value your work.

i’m sure you’ve done more than you give yourself credit for. it may seem too little, a drop in the sea of assignments you’ve yet to hand in, but every single minute of effort counts! every little task you do brings you closer to your goal! replied to a school email? good for you, you’ve got your correspondence covered and your professor knows you’re working hard. took 3 minutes to clear your study space? wonderful, a fresh setup = a fresh mindset! got more than 6 hours of sleep? yay, your brain had time to recuperate from a day’s worth of activities!

10. and again, you are not alone in this!

i promise there are at least 50 other people feeling exactly the same as you at any given moment. we all struggle with the same things, in one way or another, and motivating each other always helps. whether it be aggressive pep talks or gentle words of encouragement, studyblrs always have each other’s backs and you can message practically anyone in this community if you’re in need of support :) our job is to hype each other up and watch as we reach our respective goals <3

personally, i also conceptually enjoy srs bsns which is a really upbeat song about how they don’t care if people don’t take them seriously because they know in their heart that what they’re doing is good

hyperfocus - 2nd EP, a pretty substantial departure from their usual style, but also happens to quietly be Corpse’s favourite, and is actually y/n’s most polarising, because it has both the Grammy award winning HEARTBURN and the o brother where art thou which was written partially as a joke to capture a fond moment of them and 5SOS dicking around together in a hotel. written while on tour wit 5SOS, im writing the reader as having ADHD (because I have ADHD and i can do what i want), and the backstory is that they’d changed the medication/dosage they were taking, and as it’s their first full tour, they were under a lot of stress and were in a weird place mentally and emotionally, and hyperfocus is the result of that. i’m going through some stuff has HUGE agoraphobic vibes.

HEARTBURN has the same vibes as Florence + The Machines’ Howl. It’s about being a demon without saying that or directly implying that unless you know demons real well. This is when the pressure for them to confirm their identity got real bad, and it was their way of working through those emotions.

In the time between hyperfocus and working on it, Y/N releases several singles, including a cover of Tell Him by The Exciters to be featured in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. They also take time to sort out their health, do a little bit more YT stuff, and travel internationally to do festivals.

working on it - is kind of a middle ground between their original stuff, and hyperfocus, like pop-punk meets horror-pop meets whatever you’d classify halsey as. the first three songs were mostly written before the fic starts, so before they’re getting back to YT, but the last three, nightmare scenario, designed to hurt (touch me), and not scared were all written after they’d started hanging out with sykkuno and corpse.

in-universe, imposter syndrome was originally something else, along the same lines of tired that they’re hiding that they’re a demon, but after meeting corpse nd sykkuno and having people who know, and lowkey being influenced by corpse’s music, the song changes directions, and YO OKAY YO::

I literally am so fucking flattered, my darling friend @bingusmode wrote lyrics for imposter syndrome and I’ve been yELLING about them ever since i’ve read them!! (also bunnie is fantastic and lovely in general 10/10)

Fave 2021 national finals songs

Since I don't have anything better to do with my life at the moment I decided to ramble about stuff. Okay, here are my thoughts about my fave songs from the national finals of 2021, in no particular order!

Norsk Melodi Grand Prix

• Monument was my absolute favourite and I still can't believe to this day that it didn't win :( Keiino are fking fantastic and they killed the stage (though I kind of preffered the black outfits from the 1st heat over the final ones, they suited the song's athmosphere better). I cried real tears when I saw they lost, for real. Heartbreak 💔

• Hero was such a nice throwback to 80s music style, the staging was also really neat. Would love to see Raylee come back next year in the selection, she has a cool stage presence

• Okay but Vi er Norge was a banger and I'm still listening to this one, a real shame it didn't even qualify nor win the 2nd chance round. As you already knew before, I have a weakness for violins because yes. The performance was so energetic and fun, should have def qualified. Underrated.

• Ut av mørket/Fallen angel was really good too. I wanted it to be kept in norwegian for esc but oh well. The stage show was just a tad messy but memorable.

• I can't escape was something I'd hear from Roxen ngl, the style matches her perfectly, even her cursive singing, everything. Either way I loved this one too, this song feels like a hug.

• Pages was so magical, I'm glad we got another joik song, sadly this didn't qualify 😥

• World on fire was kind of generic but puts me in a good mood everytime I listen to it, it's really catchy.

• Let loose is so g r o o v y and cool, it was my fave from the 1st heat when I got to listen to the songs. I'm lowkey happy it advanced to the final instead of Elevate, I'm sorry but I saw everyone praising that one in youtube comments, I never saw the hype, it was too regular and plain for me.

• Own yourself was so cute and funky, loved how it showed her ethnic background a lil with that disco sound.

• Witch woods...ehhh...While it's funny and unique, I think it's suited more for a witch Disney musical than Eurovision. But I like it anyway.

• Faith Bloody Faith oh yes I needed a rock song in this nf. Relieved it won the 2nd chance. Oh and I just realized, the superfinalists in mgp were literally the ones from the 1st heat. Crazy huh?

• Nordlyset is something I'd listen to near a fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate in hands watching the snow fall in my cottage located in a forest far away from civillization. So soothing and beautiful <3

• Eyes wide open was epic just like his 2020 viking schlager song (i prefer his 2020 song over this one but that's another story)

Melodifestivalen

• Little tot was amazing but def not as good as Bulletproof. It's still catchy asf and one of my favs from this selection.

• Dandi Dansa aka a banger, again another catchy song.

• Every minute sounds like a summer hit, it's awesome. It's also the spawner of all those haha eric on a kitchen tile memes I've seen around during that time.

• The world and especially Sweden wasn't ready for the masterpiece called Rena Rama Ding Dong. They should tone down their preference for safe pop songs and choose meme worthy songs like this one in the future tbh. They didn't even qualify, Sweden = coward.

• One Touch is a fun club track, I can see this as a summer hit as well. But her stage show...go girl give us nothing

• In the middle, once again The Mamas delivered.

• And finally Voices, which its nf staging was superior to the esc one. We are so sorry Tusse 😔

Festivali i Këngës

• Zjarri Im a total banger, it wasn't even in the top 5 ffs Era Rusi queen.

• Njësoj has such a nice party vibe, should have qualified.

• Haven't paid any attention to Karma until it won, then I said hey this isn't so bad, it's traditional and ethnic, I can actually see Albania in the final with this.

Dora

• Rijeka was the only one I thought it will win by a landslide and I was surprised it didn't. The staging was a bit too over the top, though

• Tick Tock grew on me after it won and quickly became one of my faves of this year's esc. I'm still sad it didn't qualify 😔

• She's like a dream is super uplifting and also sounds like an 80s song.

• Colors is something I heard a million times before but for some reason I'm jamming to this? Also I heard she's blind, is it true?

Eesti Laul

• Took me a while to have a fave from this nf but after some listens Magus Melanhoolia stole my heart 🧡 it's so different from the others and the staging looked so proffesional.

• Lost in a dance had me d a n c i n, I noticed we had a lot of 80s throwbacks in this nf season, this included. The live was so dissapointing though 😔

• Not so keen on 6 at first but now I absolutely love it, she has such a nice style and the song's athmosphere is so magical.

• Time was amazing, surprised it came 2nd!

• I actually liked The lucky one lmao, I found it much better than his previous entry.

• Heaven's not that far tonight was the party 80s bop we didn't knew we needed

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix

• Probably my biggest letdown of this nf season but I actually managed to like Står lige her, digging the electro 80s (again) sound

• I also liked Øve os på hinanden as well, this one really feels like a legit 80s track rather than a throwback.

• Silver Bullet was interesting as well, it was the early frontrunner when the songs first came out from what I remember.

Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu

• I love you is so wacky and catchy, and in finnish! I'd hear this as a soundtrack in an old video game.

• Dark Side was the definite winner ever since I heard it, and they even got a top 10 finish for Finland for the first time in years! Couldn't be more proud 😭

• Hurt was also one of my favs, Aksel needs to come back to esc, maybe in 2022 methinks 🤔

• Wait what is Laura Põldvere, an estonian singer tm doing in finnish nf? While I liked Play, I knew it wasn't strong enough to win, and she even came last. Do you get any flashbacks from another estonian entry with the same name that came last? 👀

C'est vous qui decidez

• Voila was the clear winner and that's about it, she deserved the win, it's just too beautiful for this world 😭

• Alleluia was an interesting sound of afrobeat, too bad their chances were killed because of messy staging :(

• Amour fou was so catchy and I loved the horse head thing lmao

Pabandom iš naujo

• Discoteque all day any day. The Roop world domination 💛

• Where'd you wanna go is so calming. I listen to this when I'm stressed and it works wonders, this was really beautiful.

• Open is so unique and soothing, a total contrast from her 2014 entry.

• Never fall for you again is a total earworm, even now as I'm writing this...even if I haven't listened to it since February.

Sanremo

• Zitti e Buoni was my instant fave, it simply stood out from the others by a lot.

Festival da Canção

• Por um triz is a beautiful ballad, was my fave.

• Saudade was the early favourite, reminds me of Telemoveis with its weird but artsy style.

Israel NF

• ...I really only liked Set me free tbh.

• La la love had a good potential but I can't not cringe at the corona reference like...ugh. Such a fun party song killed by one lyric, such a shame.

Russia's NF

• Just Russian Woman was the only one who deserved to win.

Spain's NF

• Yeah, they were both good but I liked Voy a Quedarme more.

February Progress Update, March Goals:

(Updated as it’s now the end of the month) How February went:

Chinese novel chapters read in February (so far): 27 (a huge amount! Last month’s was 8. This month - 4 were Guardian, the rest are 寒舍)

Chapters I studied with Listening-Reading Method: 2 (Catch me barely doing L-R and just reading Guardian instead...)

Chinese shows watched: 6. (I expected this number to shoot up and I was right! Word of Honor - tian ya ke adaptation - is airing and I am watching the raws first then the English subs as they release. I’m also maybe going to start Anti Fraud League since I finally finished ep 1. YouTube recommended me another Zhen zhehan drama - he plays Zhou Zishu in woh. It’s called Demon Girl and I’d had it in my list to practice anyway with when I got bored since it’s set 1920-1940s, one of my fave drama settings, featuring a demon heroine in which demons are like mutants who live among us. Which happens to be my LITERAL favorite story setup - mutants/monsters/etc sci fi or supernatural setup in which the story uses it to tell fantastical tales while also commenting on real social issues. Some stories do it better than others - In The Flesh and Bureau of Transformer do excellently, Love and Redemption and Guardian do some fascinating stuff with it, Heroes touches on it only a little compared to Xmen which is known for it, and Merlin often failed to commit to a strong message. But regardless - if a story has this Setup I will ultimately wanna see. So that show definirely has 3 selling points now: my Fave story setup, a heroine as the lead, and an actor I like as the other lead. I also found Mystic Nine and LORD Critical World in HD on a chinese site so I’m very tempted to just watch them in chinese only since it’s more convienient then the english sub links I have for the shows. An interesting update: trying to watch a show this month was easier than in the past - last month I could barely watch Any shows, and before that I distinctly remember shows being harder to catch the details. I watched Anti Fraud League ep 1 fully this month and caught all details roughly without pausing - and like 3 sentences of exposition on main character Mi Huo I paused and replayed the scene just to catch all the chinese subtitles and clarify I understood correctly. I think I got about 90% of the details - because I was a little vague on some word meanings and just guessed on those. And grasped 100% of the overall plot. which is well beyond where I was at month 10-11ish last time I tried watching shows. Also yay! A detective show felt as easy as watching a fluff romance which is so great, because I like this genre much more! Although I am going to give a grateful shout out to Granting You A Dreamlike Life because... while the shows first 15 eps I did watch are Not My Thing, I watched it like 8+ months into learning and it was both a challenge and easy enough TO watch and keep watching. Which made it great for improving. I really think it helped a lot. And I also think... at this point I probably could rewatch guardian without eng subs and be fine. When I watch shan he ling today I guess I’ll find out if I can handle a wuxia plot though without eng subs lol)

Japanese Audio listened to: 14 (no change, this is since start of year)

Personal books read: 11 (since 2021 started - so 6 books in February. I have been reading SO MUCH lately, I’m really excited? I’ve been meaning to read so many of my books I just hadn’t gotten around to it. This is also likely to increase as I’m about to finish dmbj 2 next time I pick it up).

Some other things:

@a-whump-muffin u inspired me and sometime soon I will be trying to play KH in japanese again, and looking at ur super amazing grammar guide u made ToT (I might try nier automata if its bearable just because I’m playing all the drakengard/nier games right now but... the language is a lot more sci fi so i’m not sure that’d go well... also i want to check if my final fantasy type-0 has japanese language settings...). But like... I am definitely up for looking at a grammar guide, and looking up words on my phone as I play. Now that’s a study method i could DO maybe ToT and also like!!! ultimately i want to do it anyway!!! i just figured it would be drowning and chickened out! but like. to study doing what u wanted to do anyway in the language??!!! wowwww ;-; i mean that’s basically why i’m reading chinese but u get the idea

Other japanese updates: I’m still listening to quickleur I just haven’t done any listening lately (u can tell by the L-R status above lol). It did help a lot though even the bits I listened to, as far as refreshing my mind on particles and verb endings. And the explanation on sentence structures u gave @a-whump-muffin !! (who is god tier if ur studying japanese they are <3 <3 )

Part of the ‘personal books read’ goal - I’m counting any textbooks I read in that category, in the hopes if I frame it in my head as reading for personal interest instead of studying, I will do it. Ideally I would LIKE to read my DeFrancis Chinese books, Chinese Nature Method grammar book, Chinese Sentence Patterns book, 2 books I just ordered, my japanese reading books (the 1st one a good refresher the 2nd one literally could be... my textbook for years its got so much). Those chinese books in part because WOW I am so used to so much grammar in context when reading, but when I go to produce language I’m a hot MESS. And I think just like... I really should read those books and fill in the gaps in my understanding and like solidify the correct understanding of what I can comprehend. Sometime.... I ALSO should read my Alan Hoenig chinese characters book. But will I???? AHA. I forgot to mention in my last reading post - but brute forcing learning the hanzi has been going fine actually. I was concerned just looking up hanzi when reading, that I would struggle to learn the new ones. But I can confirm that reading has gotten easier, and I’ve picked up a LOT of hanzi I was previously brute force looking up repeatedly while reading. So like... as long as this keeps working, I’ll keep doing it. I’m very lazy and the path with least resistance and mental exhaustion is what I’ll keep doing, if it works, even if it might be slower. (Although I do think the hanzi books I have are very useful and have helped me speed up progress when I used them).

I learned how to make gifs this month and I’m overwhelmed with all the stuff I could try to do? Idk its very cool i’m very excited about it.

Goals for March:

Basically, we’re sticking to the quite steady study plan I’ve had the past few months, which has boiled down to: read chinese, L-R, listen/watch if desired, do something listening related in japanese if desired. It’s not well rounded or anything but I’m making steady progress and its easy to keep doing.

Anything in bold is what I’m doing right now/likely to do (although we know how often I just derail).

Read chinese novels. (This can include Guardian. Currently includes: hanshe, guardian. On hiatus: Tian Ya Ke).

Listen-Read Guardian. (Reading guardian in Any way is the priority so if this happens yay, but if it doesn’t I’ll be happy if I’m still working through guardian and just postponing the listening part).

Optional. Play video game in japanese, use a dictionary and grammar guide when confused af. This one’s imminently likely just because the instant I get Nier remastered I’m playing it, and also playing Nier Automata etc games, so like... the opportunity and desire to play the japanese versions of games I want to do that with WILL hit me.

Optional. Watch chinese shows. This one’s also likely because a priest novel drama adaptation just dropped (Word of Honor, shan he ling, tian ya ke/Faraway Wanderer’s adaptation) and I don’t want to wait for the english subs.

Optional - unlikely (I’m not in the mood to listen to stuff lol). Audios. Keep listening to Japanese Quicksleur when there’s down time (like playing games), and Chinese Spoonfed audio if I feel like it.

Personal. Keep reading while I’ve got the motivation to. I am really enjoying getting through all these books I’ve wanted to read for so long.

*SCI 谜案集 by ErYa (I’ve heard this somewhat easy to read, is a good story, and since its case-centered I think it would be a good intro to later reading books like Silent Reading by Priest)

Then the recommendation says you should probably watch a lot of shows for some vocab (I sort of do so I’ll see how that helps me out), and you can start tackling xianxia, like Priest’s “六爻, and then 鎮魂, then 殺破狼, and pretty much any other of GZHX’s works.” I would guess this point is when Tian Ya Ke would be more my reading level, when 六爻 is, at the beginning. I would guess after 鎮魂 is when I could try to tackle Can Ci Pin. Sha Po Lang is steampunk and fantasy, so I would guess it has some of the sci fi type words - so if I’d be ready for that, I might be ready for Can Ci Pin at the same time.

Studying, while working and parenting.

Image from the minute school. Which in itself has good techniques for med school and courses in general.

To think that studying stops or relents after med school is a complete fantasy. One I used to have in med school.

In some ways its easier because everything is a bit familiar because you’ve been lectured and examined on it before. First pass is always harder. It’s also more challenging as you adapt to working and trying to implement studying into your schedule.

The key thing is making studying a habit. Whatever worked in med school, will be your go to crutch in residency or registrar training. Your best friend will always be past exam questions (or any Q bank in general).

Conflictingly, what worked in med school, may not work anymore in residency. I.e. anything that was more time consuming isn’t going to work anymore. You become more time poor. What were time savers to studying in med school, will remain valuable in residency.

Our director of education often tells us that we are now lifelong learners. And we’re going to have to figure out a process to facilitate this.

What i’m going to add is that it can be dynamic, because life will always change on you. I had a different study method when I was living on my own and working, than when I was pregnant. And obviously now that I’m primary care giver in the midst of returning to work. My habits also shift when I’m on night shift.

I’ve read a lot of study tips by students, here’s what I’ve tried (and what’s kinda worked so far) as someone who’s out of school with a young family:

Environment:

Ambience. Have an environment that feels conducive to learning. Entice yourself into it.

I used to love libraries and coffee shops.

In covid times, or in times with a baby to chase around, it’s not always an option anymore.

So, make-over your study space. If you have one. Or just spruce up where you live with a few things. Low budget items can be found on Society6 for instance or good old amazon. Facebook Marketplace is another source of 2nd hand cheaper items, it’s possible to request contactless pick up or use the postal service.

Alternatively, even simpler is just recreating at least the ambient noise via youtube and having a screen devoted to it with a relaxing wallpaper. Most sleep resources for babies recommend white noise, and now I find it relaxes me into studying too. There’s a tonne of 3 hour to 8 hr or live 24 hr streaming of ambient background noise with rain, library sounds, coffee shops sounds, softly playing music etc. Even Victorian time street noises.

Have a clean environment. I can’t remember the psychology behind this exactly, but if you have a messy space, subconsciously you can feel it. At minimum, make the bed, put laundry away. Out of sight. Out of mind. Deliberate practice.

From minute school and the link above. Like any skill to master (be it karate chops or scales on a musical instrument) the same goes with mastering clinical skills and knowledge. Work itself lends itself to this. Every patient admission, rounds or handover is the practice of medicine.

At home, it’s reading up on the interesting case on rounds afterwards and talking to other residents about it or your study group. Also flashcards. If you don’t want to make your own, download them. They’re everywhere. Ankicards are the best on the phone or laptop.

the alternative to flashcards? A white board or writing it down over and over on scrap or manila folders. I miss my white board, we don’t really have space for it since having a kiddo, so it’s sits taken apart, under the bed.

Having a single Qbank is also helpful. I find it less confronting than flashcards some days when I’m tired. There are super cheap ones out there, if you’re willing to experiment - such as PassMedicine (a UK based one for the MRCP).

Handsfree studying

It’s almost impossible to study while caring for kids. So many parents suggest ankicards, but i’m lucky to touch these unless they’re sleeping. Or unless they’re really small, or old enough to entertain themselves.

So I get around this with just having something to listen to in the background. I’ll still have my ambient noise on. (It really feels like I’m at cafe again, down to eavesdropping on the other tables)

Podcasts. My favourite is the curbsiders. But anything engaging and simple works, where it’s like a conversation on rounds. Something that is not a lecture, where the hosts ask the pertinent questions you always wonder but are sometimes afraid to ask or refer. Also a new fave, is the Curious Clinician. Saves a time consuming (and sometimes useless) google search or uptodate dive on why things we might come across on the wards happen. Like what causes fingernail clubbing - what’s the pathophysio?

Lectures are another option. It’s very passive learning and dry. I’ll be lucky to be able to get through 1 a week. But as they’re all recorded, it’s easy to leave in the background. It does require constant rewinding such that it can take hours to get through a single one hour lecture.

Similarly, so are other similar forms of teaching like case presentations now over Zoom are recorded. If low on time, I’ll pay close attention to Qs at the end or the feedback sessions.

Final option, an app or Qbank that talks to you. Firecracker has this option, but is a subscription service. Anki cards has a voice record option.

Accountability staying on track or having motivation is hard. So having someone to catch up with and present to is a must. For the FRACP if you’re in Australia, having a study group is essential for the written. Even if you have nothing prepared, or just have 2-3 answers to old exam qs. During busy peaks, that 2 hr window with my group could be the only time I have to study that week. By clinicals, aim to present to someone senior at least once a week. That in itself has sufficient fear factor to study pre and post. reading. Old school.

But read when you can, read the resources that easy to understand and digest. That jog your memory.

Best things are the clinical practice texts like Talley and O’Connor. Nothing fancy. Oldie but goodie. I’m lucky to have an hour a week to do this, but as I’ve only so much time, it’s a high yield little hour.

Scan the table of contents of high impact journals once a week. I maybe do this in line for coffee. Takes 5-10 minutes. I’ve subscribed to NEJM 360 for residents, so it lands in my inbox. It’s easier to understand and asks you questions to think over. Wikijournals is also a quicker read. Relatively anyway.

Most lectures and podcasts will refer to the landmark trials and give you the key points anyway, so I don’t allocate too much time to this.

adapt.

Being time poor requires adapting. But in the time that you do have to study, ironically your focus is so much better then when you had endless time.

Spyro: Reignited review part 5

Magic Crafters! Oh boy. I'm not sure on how to feel about this. Ok firstly, I like the icy snowy stuff. The pink-purple in the original was pretty great, in the Reignited version stuff looks great too, and I'll have to take a better look when I pick up the game again, but as of now, I'm just trying to not die. This is new territory, there's not as many walls. And I'm Fairly certain that this is where the power-ups happen. This is the area where the super charges and stuff become a thing. Those things are limited time. I'm. I'm not ready to rush. I'm not good enough. So I'm not very confident in my skills here I've yet to 100% this level, one of the enemies lifted a wall and didn't lower it, so either there was no way of going around it, I didn't bother looking or chose to just go to the next level that was right there - or accidentally stumbled in there - many possibilities. Either way, I've not yet freed Zantor, who is one of my faves. Love the card boi.

Alpine Ridge! Bruh. BRUH. So far, this, this has to be my least favourite level. It is pretty, yes, and it starts off really nicely. The yellow beast things are easy to defeat and I kinda find them cute in a way. Making good progress, the jumps are scary but we're succeeding and doing well. The armored druids kinda scare me with their blank expressions and the way in which they silently and motionlessly glide, they're like ghosts approaching you with the intent to kill. But I can still panic charge them and they die so we good. So... Why do I hate and despise this level? Well. Let me tell you. About that egg thief chase. And more over. Those freaking firework explosives. So firstly, the thief. My controls on the Switch Lite are already stiff, I'm scared of turns and stuff when charging because the turns are stiff and nowhere near as smooth or easy as the youtube videos show. I was very careful and slow just when collecting the gems on that path, and then you're telling me I have to Run there? Oh god. Oh boy. Oh no. And I ran and ran, chased the thing, tried all sorts of sneaky things after falling off the side many times and having to stop and panic just so I wouldn't fall again. It was a pain. And trying to use your flame on that thing? It just didn't work. I was so close. And either the fire didn't happen or somehow didn't hit the thief. It was painful. And then when I finally hit the thief, I jumped, it was sudden, it was like hitting a wall without the bump, no warning, I got scared for a bot because I didn't expect to catch the thief etc. My body was having that same reaction to it as you do when you're falling asleep and you jolt awake. So that was painful. But even Worse was/is the firework section. Firstly. Getting to that first platform is hell. I watched clips on youtube, I tried so many times. After over 10 deaths I finally get over to that platform for the first time, and boom, I die on the explosion even if I tried to dodge. More attempts, I somehow eventually survive and get the 1st of the 3 firework gems. First of 3. My god. So. The area as a whole is precise platforming, with hard jumps, and if you fail you're pretty much insta death. And the area is pretty much at the other side of the level, a level that's, very wild and I dunno how to exactly navigate, the map is full of floating islands too. So 'cheat death warping' isn't really a good option here to avoid death because it'd take super long to travel back and forth. I've not mentioned the loading times or the lag they have yet. It's not awful, I can manage, but it's not instantaneous either. So the struggle is real. I can't even make the 1st of those jumps all the time, I still die on that jump occasionally and it ain't fun to be punished for missing this precise jump with an insta death. At least there was a dragon right there so the travel to that spot is like, you're already there. But still. Make it to 2nd platform after several more deaths, die in explosion pushing you to water. What am I supposed to do? The game I Think wants you to jump back to the last platform really quickly, but bruh just getting here was hell, you expect me to turn in a blink of an eye and do all of that hard work I still can't do perfectly half the time. You really expect me to do that? ..... You expect too much, I'm not ready for this... So I struggle. Lose life after life. I'm running out. I have 1 life left. I go for the jumps and stuff, I get to that 3rd firework, I try the jumping back thing but somehow the explosion hits me on my way or something. But. But oh? Did.. Did I just see a 10? Did I see a golden gem with a 10 signifying that I got the gem? I'm not sticking around to find out. I'm warping out of there to Peace Keepers. I'm not dying here. So I've not yet finished a single Magic Crafters level. I lost 30 lives there, I'm not exactly a big fan. I spent the next hour listening to podcasts and grinding for lives between PK and Dr.Shemp. MC stuff made me a little frustrated. Ice Cave jumps had gotten to my nerves a little bit, but this was muuuuch worse. The

desperation and anger-nearing annoyance I felt here. God... I'll go back to the game, it's been a few days, I've not had the time because I've had to and wanted to draw, but I'll go back. And I'll 100% those levels. But bruh. I'm really hoping I'll be able to beat these games. I'm scared for Tree Tops. I've heard that that one is hard. I've seen it. It's got charging and jumping an boosts. Mmmmmmmm. Magic Crafters & Alpine Ridge songs I've not yet gotten to listen to too well. Negative memories. AR has some nice sounds to itself, but they're a little tainted by the repeated circle of death. But from what I'm listening on the youtube, the og soundtrack, most of the super nostalgic songs seem to be from here. Like I remember hearing these songs in places. So I suppose I've got those to look forward to? While I also fear what's to come But it's 6am, I sleep now and write about Peace Keepers dragons later~

ok so I already did this one but I have a lot of faves so its ok. Mr jonathan morris like is just a teen that's most of his personality and I love it (daddy issues too which eugh maybe not so much, he needs charlotte to ground him which I feel sorry for), 18 years old brings along his 16 y/o childhood friend to kick draculas ass and they don't worry too much about it. They're banters quite funny too, even though the talk button in the menu just gives you tips on gameplay most of the time during boss battles they have a lot to say about them, it's a nice feature really. That and he's a whole dumbass, you could kill richter with fucking creampies and that's why por is best game hands down (it's not but a paper airplanes also a subweapon which gives it another point). I ALSO LOVE HIS LITTLE VOICE LINES if you complete the game I think starting a new one from the menu has u hear him saying "showtime!" Or when you successfully complete the motorcycle puzzle and he says "YAHOO!!" it's just so adorable. Have I mentioned that he's gay because he is, charlotte clearly shows interest in him throughout but bc he is gay and she is clearly a lesbian and they don't know it he treats her like a little sister and is also oblivious to a lot of romantic advances, hell the only time he's shown interest in a woman was during the astarte boss battle where he LITERALLY has to be mind controlled to do so, that boy *pointing at him* is gay.

📌 how did you find your hyperfixation?

So how I found it was very simple, as a kid (really young I think maybe about 5-7) we had a ds, was absolutely obsessed with it it had warioware kirby all that stuff, but then there was my first castlevania game: dawn of sorrow. Being the sequel to aria of sorrow (my favorite) and also being a kid I had no clue what was going on but I knew a few things, 1) somas surname was cruz and that made me think he was filipino so I liked him very much, 2) the music was really good!! And 3) some of the enemies looked terrifying and I was all for that. I liked looking at the enemy index and reading their descriptions cuz u loved the lore a lot, I always erased and made new files cuz frankly I had no clue what to do after the first or third levels. I also didn't know how the controls worked since I liked using the touch feature a lot. What I remember was when I beat the puppet master (a terrifying looking boss that was in a later level called the demon guest house), and since the magic seal (a feature added in cuz of the touch system, which you had to use after every boss or else they won't die) was kinda complicated to me and I somehow completed it I was proud of myself!! Showed off to my dad too (he didn't care). Later on he got order of ecclissia (another fantastic game) and i loved it even better than dos, the artwork was gorgeous and shanoa..... 😳 Was also very gorgeous. A lot of things were improved since it was the third and last cv game ever to be released by konami (a whole decade ago I'm so sad) and since this was getting too long I'll cut this short. Our ds broke sometime and I was sad but eventually my dad got a lords of shadow game for our pc, I forgot which one it was I think it was the one with victor in it, anyways it was the first game where I was introduced to alucard, I didn't really play it just watched dad or kuya play it and it was also gorgeous. After that id watch boss rushes or playthroughs of castlevania games on youtube for a nostalgia rush, I didn't really know about any of the other games other than the ds ones, at some point I heard they made the netflix series of it which I didn't watch yet. Until last year, cv was pretty much niche to me and far from my interests, it was August or June I think when dad put on an anime site on tv and watched it with us and needless to say I loved the first season, I didn't know about cv3 or any of the other games so the plot confused me but I did know alucard, after watching all of it I went on a huge rush and learned about all of it's lore (in all the games). Dad then taught us how to emulate games and ever since then I've been playing and loving castlevania a lot, so year long story short I played some of the games as a kid and got really into it after watching the netflix series. Although after s3 and being disappointed I could care less about it cuz all I think about are the games.

Portrait of Ruin: Piercing Silence (one of the 3 boss themes, I like it was better since it gets my heart racing but in a good way, has a REALLY good synth later on), Dance of Sadness (a boss theme saved for only the sisters, also really gorgeous with a melancholic vibe), Iron Blue Intention (13th street theme, a remix of the track w the same name in bloodlines)

Symphony of the Night: Dance of Pales (classical and makes you feel lost in wonder, olroxs quarters theme I think) Woodcarving Partita (VERY fancy library theme I absolutely love it), Rainbow Cemetery (ITS THE CATACOMBS GOD ITS SO GOOD, it makes you dance but also let you know that something's up deep in them)

Castlevania Bloodlines: Calling from Heaven (AUGH WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN... One of my top tracks and also 2nd to last level where Johns dying, rly makes u feel y'know)

Lament of Innocence: Leons theme (also called lament of innocence but GOOD GOD ALSO IN MY TOP TRACKS ITS SO FUCKING GOOD, despite not being my favorite gameplay wise the soundtracks absolutely gorgeous even though it's mostly remixes, save from this one. Absolutely funky theme and being my 2nd fave belmont it's also my favorite belmont theme)

Order of Ecclissia: An Empty Tome (The games main theme and also the first two levels in Draculas castle, it describes who shanoa is, being filled with powerful glyphs abilities and a great weapon against dracula but having no memory of who she is, she's an empty tome) Sorrows distortion (ABSOLUTELY KILLING IT albus's boss theme) Wandering of the Crystal Blue (gorgeous theme for the second water stage), Malaks Labrinth (I forgot what the stage name was but also very good), and also (Forgot the stage name but the credits deserve a spot here)

Hormones anon here. Just finished season 3. Well, don't I got things to say. First of all I have a very vague recollection of a few scenes but I couldn't have known the series at the time so it must have been really famouse on tumblr. Anyway, I got a bit tired at the end with Oil's story, the 2nd hand embarrassment was off the roof. I kind of understood for a bit, but it just got unbearable. In the end, those characters Jane is best girl of the season, and I'm soft for Non. I trully loved +

Sun's story, but still don't know if I like his character bcs of James or bcs I had just finished Bad Geenius and he is basically the same character hahaha Koi and Dao was the most refreshing thing, and we really need that GL Thailand, we know you can do it ugh The struggle is so real. Pala and ZomZom were the second straight couple with rights, after Sprit and Phai, so good Pala's story, so important. In the end I didn't understand if Phu and Thee were together? Did you? +

( number 3 btw) So in resume, the new gen had some difficulties not were not equally explored, to a point of getting boring. Some really interesting characters got little to just one episode, and that was sad, like Jane and Sun. The plost wasn't as involving being a more school like drama and not as much life drama... I will cherish this series very much but I wish there was a cut for each story in the end. Relating to a chracter is everything in end, and I did.

(4th and last I promise) Do you know where I could listen to See Escape songs? I couldn't find anywhere. Thailand and music series is something I'll never get tired of. Their language is already very melodic so thai song are have a special place on my playlists hahaha Bye Ollie! Hope to not anoy you, this was long.

Hello again!! Yeah at the time it was airing, Hormones was a really popular show! And okay so... I agree with you about Oil - she got way over the top (which was definitely the point) and it was so cringey to watch. I got so attached to so many of the characters, Jane and Non were a couple of my faves too! It’s fun seeing how you enjoyed/didn’t enjoy the different characters! I think if I had to choose a favourite from season 3 it would be Pala and Zomzom, I really loved them and I was so worried for a while that she wouldn’t accept him. Koi and Dao!! My two favourite girls!! Their relationship was indeed just so refreshing and lovely to see... we seriously need so much more content like that in Thai media. Phu and Tee gave me stress. I feel like Phu just absolutely used Tee as a rebound when things didn’t go the way he wanted, it’s like he was just a backup and idk i was STRESSED lmao Tee deserves better he’s so lovely. Yeah it’d be nice if we got more content of some of the characters for sure, but overall I feel like the series did really well. And okay so!! See Scape! Most of their songs are available on YouTube (and you can find a bunch of them on Spotify too, I think) If you just search “See Scape Hormones” a bunch of them come up, I think most of their songs are just covers, though! Thank you so much for sending in your reaction to the series, it’s been so fun seeing what you think of it! And don’t worry you didn’t annoy me one bit - I loved it!!!

I’m a shutdown-er. The unbanked and credit invisible population of the United States are shut out of services and access to funds for absolutely arbitrary reasons, and there’s no social safety net for that. There’s no way, other than money and time, for most people to enter the US financial system, much less begin to build wealth in the first place.

The USPS already has the physical presence throughout the United States to serve poor and unbanked people as a banking branch, and with government backing, they should offer zero fee, no credit check required checking accounts to everyone.

Life update and some other things!

I'm sorry, the old Venus can't come to the phone right now... Why?... Oh, 'cause he's dead!

Yes, you're not having a hallucination, I'm indeed back with the blog. I mean, I'm not completely back yet, but I'm in the process of coming back.

So, you may be asking (or not) why I've bee away for an entire month and well this post is to tell what happened.

I was trying to keep a schedule of posts because I'm a madman and I thought that having consistency in the form of posting daily would be a great idea and that the world would conspire in my favor and would let that happen while having two huge long term projects coexisting. It happens that life isn't as kind and it came to bite me in the ass for trying to do too much stuff at the same time.

There wasn't necessarily one specific thing that lead me to take a break, it was more like a conversion of bad things happening at the same time in my personal life that really worn me down to an estate of deep sadness and exhaustion, and to my luck, all of that decided to happen at the same time as quarantine started in Brazil which brought a lot of tension, a huge political mess, and a whole lot of anxiety as our current president and his supporters seem to not care for the well being of the population thinking that the virus is just a made-up thing to make him and his government look bad. And don't even get me started in the whole lot of unconstitutional stuff has been happening, and that apparently no one in our justice system seems to care, that just makes the fear of us falling into another dictatorial regime after only 35 years of being back into living in a democracy hunt me in my dreams at night.

As you can see, this hasn't been the happiest of times.

And it just gets worse because the things that were supposed to help me in escaping from this terrifying reality actually only made me feel worse. First, because I couldn't just sit down and watch them, I had to watch and write about them, which was something I honestly had no energy to do. And second, because I wasn't exactly happy with the shows themselves, you know? I was really done with Prichan after the another!Daia arc, Zero-One had been constantly making me angry, all of the problems I had with Precure 5 seemed to only have been exacerbated into extreme levels in GoGo, Kamen Rider Ghost's 2nd and 3rd arc were just ghastly, and On Parade... well, was On Parade. Only Healin' Good was genuinely making me happy but even that I tried to avoid because I was very afraid of my mood ruining my experience with the show and turning something I really enjoyed into something that I hated.

And I know that it seems that I'm that salty bitch who loves to hate things just for the sake of it and that I should be thriving if I was seeing a lot of problems in the shows I was watching, but that's very far from the truth, I actually hate talking about bad things. Because the franchises I cover here are things that I love, I mean, this is a personal blog where I tell my PERSONAL experiences as I watch these shows, and as things that I love I want all of them to be good and I wanna say good things about them, but I can't come here and fake saying that I loved something and I had the greatest time ever because it would go against what this blog is about. Also faking enthusiasm is just as mentally exhausting as being honest and talking shit about stuff so that wouldn't really solve any of my problems.

So, in a self-preservation move, I step away from this blog and I indulged myself in a whole bunch of shit that wasn't anime in order to get me up and running again while I try to forget the problems of the world. I've listened to a shit-ton of podcasts, I've done some gaming (which is something that I barely do), obviously I cleaned and cooked a lot (like most of the people in quarantine are doing), and I've even got back into reading which was something that I haven't really done since my tablet broke like two years ago. Gosh, I even found out I actually like musicals and I've been watching recordings of shows on youtube non-stop and that has brought me a lot of joy (and I believe a lot of headaches to my neighbors). Heck, I even got to watch a few of the anime that just started in the most recent season and even got to find some new faves, so that break time was really helpful in making my mind drift away from all the negativities and the bad energy that was lurking around.

Of course, I'm still not 100% back, I'm still feeling very tired and my sense of time is all messed up, but I'm feeling better and I'm feeling renewed so I thought it was the time to slowly get back with the blog. And you can call me weird here, but it didn't feel right to be back with new energies and a new vibe and continue with the same dumb name for the blog. Like, I know this is a dumb thing to be hung on, but I gotta be honest I was never fully happy with my usernames that I've used in the past two~three years. I think CureCupid is a dumb name and venus-moonrise is even dumber, and I've been wanting to rebrand for a long ass time but I'm not a creative hoe and I couldn't think of a better name that wouldn't sound silly as hell and it wouldn't include the words venus, moon, and fairy, in any shape or form.

But I thought about it and realized that there wouldn't be any other time as perfect as this one to change my URLs, because I already lost the timing once when I stopped making gifs at CureCupid and I had that huge ass break in the blog before I came back to it in August last year, and since I'm with renewed energies would be very conflicting to keep going while having this thing with a dark aura around bringing me enjoyment down. And so I changed my usernames, I'm sorry for making you all confused, but I needed a concrete change.

And that's not the only change happening. Forget the daily posts, I may try that again in the future, but not for now. Until my gears are grinding to their full capacities I will post whenever I want, but whenever I get ready to have a schedule again I will post only 4 days of the week because if there's a thing that this period has taught me is that I need to consume other things that aren't precure, aikatsu, and kamen rider, so that I don't go crazy. So there's that.

Finally to conclude this long-ass post I would like to thank you all for still keeping up with me even though I'm a terrible content creator. I don't know if people on tumblr are aware but I have a WordPress blog that is basically the same thing as the tumblr just with more screenshots of the episodes and that blog hasn't had a single day with 0 visitors even though I haven't posted in the past 38 days and I'm really grateful for that and I hope that from now on I can match up with this support.

I'm not sure when I'll be back with the weekly show reviews, thankfully for the purposes of this blog almost all shows I cover are in hiatus due to COVID-19 so I can catch up with them easily without feeling pressured. But before that I decided that I'll do a monthly faves post to come out sometime during this week, is not necessarily a post with only my favorite things of the month, I just got inspired by Pixielocks video and I wanted to do something to talk about the things I watched during the break and it's something I want to become a regular thing for the blog so I have another incentive to watch other things without the need of commitment.

Well, I've written way more than I needed but I'm glad I was finally able to put this out, it may seem like a silly thing but it really made me feel better to be able to open up about stuff.
