Touchstarved brainrot so bad I had the strangest dream about Kuras today
So in this dream we’re together and I’m living in his clinic like thee good stay at home partner that I am and he comes home PISSED, like fuming mad. And I’m like :0 honey why are you so mad rn, was it vere?
and he says no tf I am not mad but he clearly is. I don’t want to upset him further so I drop the subject
In my dream, he starts deep cleaning the clinic because he’s so upset and I start helping him and stuff, anything to make him feel better
But then I discover this trapdoor that leads to a secret basement underneath the clinic and I find this literal malnourished MAN chained to the wall
and he starts pleading with me like :( ma’m plz plz plz release me I haven’t seen the sun in so many years and I’m just like :0
So I go upstairs and tell kuras uh honey there’s a literal????stranger????captive????trapped in the clinic’s basement and he just says no love there is no one there and I say oh okay and when he reaches for my hand that’s when I woke up
I just finished watching the episode and I think there are more ways to interpret the way Calliope's abuse and her role as a "muse" in the story.
It could be the greed of men who think of women as mere tools to further their own ideas and achievements without actually crediting said women as their source of inspiration. Wiping women out of the records as great independent thinkers.
It could be the popular take of writers needing a place of absolute depravity and suffering in order to produce good content. Like writer's absolutely NEEDING to be depressed/angry/delirious in order to produce good art. Ric's actions towards Calliope came from a place of deep insecurity, greed and a desire to exploit her and her pain.
Men's fragility in admitting their insecurities or the fact that society conditions humans to rely on themselves, even in desperate times. Ric was pressured by his publishers and agent to write the next book, he had writer's block, he couldn't think of anything to write. In the writer world, he would be labeled as a failed writer. So he takes to extreme measures and abuses and torments another human just to please the crowd and his growing hubris and yearning for fame.
He was hesitant (however brief) in the beginning, but bc the older writer, who had a successful career to look back on, assured him this method worked, Ric eventually took it.
