my ex, who lives alone, is apparently about to buy a 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom, 2-garage house. what. i'm getting stressed out just hearing about it. tf you gonna do with all that space, bro? how you gonna clean all those bathrooms???
#he's like well i want one room for my home office and one room for my hobby and one guest room#add in a bedroom for him and that's still only 4 bedrooms? you have an entire extra bedroom????#plus an extra garage???#damn he thinks he's lonely now but dude just you wait until you spend every day ALONE IN A FIVE-BEDROOM HOUSE#trying not to project too much onto him but i really think this is absurd outside of my own preferences#he's been stressed living in his 1b apt bc his hobby takes up a lot of space#but i think this is just another example of his general propensity to treat the symptoms and not the disease#the problem is he's overcommitting & extending himself too much & he never finishes anything#that's what actually stresses him out#so him in a 5b house is just going to be him filling all that space with stuff until he's stressed again#anyway i have NO IDEA how to react to this because i think it's such a bad idea#i'm really bad at faking things i don't feel but i feel like it's too late to say 'wyd bro???' because apparently his offer was accepted#i did ask him how he's going to clean 4 bathrooms and he said he's just not going to use them#also it feels weird morally for a single (rich) man to buy an entire 5b house only for him in the middle of the seattle housing crisis#not like if he didn't buy it someone else would buy it and make it into affordable housing units so maybe it doesn't matter#still feels weird though and contributes to me not knowing how to react#if you have any advice for me followers...i am all ears#i've been really floundering on how to be a supportive friend to him lately#just really struggling with how to engage with him when it feels like he's his own worst enemy#and like it's not that he needs to have the same priorities as me it's just that he comes to me all stressed out and idk how to react#bc 'no shit you're stressed out. have you tried making completely different choices?' isn't a great option lol

Wednesday, Fifth Week of Eastertide
(Liturgical Colour: White. Year: B(II))
First Reading Acts of the Apostles 15:1-6 They decided to go up to Jerusalem to the Apostles and presbyters about this question.
Some who had come down from Judea were instructing the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised according to the Mosaic practice, you cannot be saved.” Because there arose no little dissension and debate by Paul and Barnabas with them, it was decided that Paul, Barnabas, and some of the others should go up to Jerusalem to the Apostles and presbyters about this question. They were sent on their journey by the Church, and passed through Phoenicia and Samaria telling of the conversion of the Gentiles, and brought great joy to all the brethren. When they arrived in Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the Church, as well as by the Apostles and the presbyters, and they reported what God had done with them. But some from the party of the Pharisees who had become believers stood up and said, “It is necessary to circumcise them and direct them to observe the Mosaic law.” The Apostles and the presbyters met together to see about this matter.

Responsorial Psalm Psalm 122:1-2, 3-4ab, 4cd-5
R/ Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord. or R/ Alleluia.
I rejoiced because they said to me, “We will go up to the house of the LORD.” And now we have set foot within your gates, O Jerusalem.
R/ Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord. or R/ Alleluia.
Jerusalem, built as a city with compact unity. To it the tribes go up, the tribes of the LORD.
R/ Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord. or R/ Alleluia.
According to the decree for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the LORD. In it are set up judgment seats, seats for the house of David.
R/ Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord. or R/ Alleluia.
Gospel Acclamation John 15:4a, 5b
Alleluia, alleluia. Remain in me, as I remain in you, says the Lord; whoever remains in me will bear much fruit. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel John 15:1-8 Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit.
Jesus said to his disciples: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower. He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and everyone that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit. You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you. Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me will be thrown out like a branch and wither; people will gather them and throw them into a fire and they will be burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.”

(Readings for the memorial)
(There is a choice today between the readings for the ferial day (Wednesday) and those for the memorial. The ferial readings are recommended unless pastoral reasons suggest otherwise)
Either:
First Reading Genesis 1:26-2:3 Fill the earth and subdue it.
God said: “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and the cattle, and over all the wild animals and all the creatures that crawl on the ground.”
God created man in his image; in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
God blessed them, saying: “Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and all the living things that move on the earth.” God also said: “See, I give you every seed-bearing plant all over the earth and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit on it to be your food; and to all the animals of the land, all the birds of the air, and all the living creatures that crawl on the ground, I give all the green plants for food.” And so it happened. God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good. Evening came, and morning followed–the sixth day. Thus the heavens and the earth and all their array were completed. Since on the seventh day God was finished with the work he had been doing, God rested on the seventh day from all the work he had undertaken. So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work he had done in creation.

Or:
First Reading Colossians 3:14-15, 17, 23-24 Whatever you do, do from the heart, as for the Lord and not for men.
Brothers and sisters: Over all these things put on love, that is, the bond of perfection. And let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one Body. And be thankful. And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Whatever you do, do from the heart, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that you will receive from the Lord the due payment of the inheritance; be slaves of the Lord Christ.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 90:2, 3-4, 12-13, 14 and 16
R/ Lord, give success to the work of our hands. or R/ Alleluia.
Before the mountains were begotten and the earth and the world were brought forth, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
R/ Lord, give success to the work of our hands. or R/ Alleluia.
You turn men back to dust,
saying, “Return, O children of men.” For a thousand years in your sight are as yesterday, now that it is past, or as a watch of the night.
R/ Lord, give success to the work of our hands. or R/ Alleluia.
Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain wisdom of heart. Return, O LORD! How long? Have pity on your servants!
R/ Lord, give success to the work of our hands. or R/ Alleluia.
Fill us at daybreak with your kindness, that we may shout for joy and gladness all our days. Let your work be seen by your servants and your glory by their children.
R/ Lord, give success to the work of our hands. or R/ Alleluia.
Gospel Acclamation Psalm 68:20
Alleluia, alleluia. Blessed be the Lord day by day, God, our salvation, who bears our burdens. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Matthew 13:54-58 Is he not the carpenter’s son?
Jesus came to his native place and taught the people in their synagogue. They were astonished and said, “Where did this man get such wisdom and mighty deeds? Is he not the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother named Mary and his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas? Are not his sisters all with us? Where did this man get all this?” And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and in his own house.” And he did not work many mighty deeds there because of their lack of faith.

Hi there! For the two-part drabble, may I request Deckerstar in situation 13 (someone does something stupid) with sentence 6 ("Do I love you? Yes. Do I like you? That's still up for debate.") Thank you, and I've really really been enjoying your the updates on your Planning a Hell of a Wedding fic!
Hey! It took me two months (including more than one month of writing) but I've now finally finished your prompt. Another anon had requested 25 (being somewhere you're not supposed to) + 6 and dear @my-crazy-awesome-sox had requested 26 (a very cheesy date) + 6, so I've merged all your prompts into one 7K+ long 'drabble'. Hope you don't mind!
And I'm glad you like the updates on PHW! I'll try to write some more now that I've finished this.
Hope you like this!
Also, an immense special thanks to @my-crazy-awesome-sox for helping me with this fic. She truly has been a godsend, and a lot of the wording (especially in the later parts) is kindly and almost directly borrowed from her mind. Thank you again, babe!
Also thanks to @lightbringer-666 for assisting me with some French. If all the French isn't perfect, it's because I also googled my way to a lot of it. Apologies in advance (and please do let me know if there's anything I should change!)
Someone does something stupid + being somehwere you're not supposed to + a very cheesy date + 'Do I love you? Yes. Do I like you? That's still up for debate.'

It’s ridiculous, really. The butterflies fluttering in her stomach like she’s a schoolgirl waiting for her prom date. It’s not even their first date. It’s not even their second. The thing is, between becoming God and Consultant, revising a few laws of the cosmos, fixing some bugs in humanity, bringing Dan to Heaven, and going to therapy, she and Lucifer haven’t had much time for, well, each other. At least not in ways that didn’t involve discussions about the redesign of the afterworld and how to sate world hunger. So yes, she is a little giddy with excitement at the thought of having a whole evening to themselves—no celestial craziness. Just the two of them and a bottle of the restaurant’s finest.
If Lucifer would just show up.
She checks her phone. 06:14. Unlike last time she anxiously waited for him in a restaurant, there’s a text.
Running a bit late. Please forgive me. Can’t wait to see you ❤
And one more.
Sorry. Can’t wait to see you naked*
Chloe shakes her head, a stupid smile spreading across her face. She resists typing back a flirty reply—he’ll be with her in a minute, and she is nota schoolgirl—and puts her phone back in her clutch. Hands trembling a little, she smooths out invisible creases in the dress he’s bought her. It’s short and tight, of course, but perfectly so. Reaching mid-thigh, with a small slit revealing a bit more of her left thigh. Black, unsurprisingly; he still hasn’t gotten over how delectable she looked in the LBD she wore on their last ‘date’. And this one makes her legs look even longer, which is undoubtedly the primary reason Lucifer picked it. Still, it isn’t skimpy. He could have opted for a deep neckline and cold shoulders—she almost expected him to when he said he’d bought her a dress—but he didn’t. Instead, the short and skin-tight skirt is perfectly balanced with a high neck and long bell sleeves that are cut open just above her joints, making the soft fabric flow around her bare underarms. She likes it—would probably have bought it herself if it weren’t crazy expensive. Likes how it makes her feel both sexy and classy and most of all comfortable, likes that he knows her so well.
She fidgets with her earring and traces the rim of her empty wine glass with her fingertip, watching people as much as she can from their semi-private corner. She spots an Oscar-winning film director, a retired NFL player, that pop star Lucifer pretends to hate, and just how expensive isthis place?
She’s immediately distracted by the shift in the air and the sound of Italian loafers approaching her.
‘My me, Detective!’
His brown eyes roam her figure as she stands to kiss him. Their lips meet in a soft peck that could easily have turned into more if Lucifer hadn’t pulled away to look her up and down.
‘You look like a goddess.’
Chloe snorts and chuckles, not yet used to the title he insists is hers if she’ll have it. She puts a hand on his chest, gazing up at him with a smile.
‘You don’t look too bad yourself.’
He hums and leans in for another kiss, but something comes between them this time. They both look down—at a dozen red roses.
‘Those for me?’ she asks, warmth spreading in her chest.
Lucifer hands her the bouquet with a nod and that soft smile she loves more than anything. He pulls out her chair, a gentle hand on her shoulder as she sits down, and sits down himself.
There’s a card nestled between the velvet petals: ‘For the Detective & Consultant’, her old and new moniker scribbled side by side in his annoyingly elegant handwriting. The latter nickname, however, is written in smaller, cramped letters—an afterthought. She smiles.
She turns the card, expecting to find a dirty, eye-roll-deserving comment on the back. But there’s no lewd joke or naughty promise.
It simply says, ‘I love you.’
Her heart swells, filling her chest till it aches. It’s all so new still. Not the love between them, but how it’s uninhibited now. It’s not like they don’t have their obstacles—just yesterday they had a fight—but there’s no doubt anymore, no voices telling them some dreams simply cannot be. They might have a whole universe to deal with, but for the first time ever, things between them are easy. No words are left unsaid. No feelings are squashed. No time is wasted. Every day is spent wrapped in each other’s love. Finally.
‘I love you too,’ she tells him, and he lights up, amazed. Confident. Their hands find each other on the table, fingers intertwining.
A waiter comes by with two menu cards and a vase for the flowers. Chloe reads through the menu carefully, pretending to know what kind of food hides behind the fancy French names. Lucifer sees right through her, sighs, and orders some hors d’œuvres, two of something she couldn’t pronounce if she tried, and a bottle of red.
‘So, were you stuck in traffic, or…?’ Chloe asks him with a glint in her eye as the waiter pours her a generous glass of wine. The celestial being with the supernatural metabolism can drive home.
The being in question looks confused for a moment before he answers, ‘Ah, no. I’m sorry I kept you waiting.’ For a brief second, he looks at her as if he’s apologising for more than tonight, but she strokes his knuckles and smiles at him, you’re here now, and he moves on to explain himself. ‘I just couldn’t find this bloody suit. Only when I’d ransacked the house did I realise it was still at the penthouse, so I had to make a detour.’
He is a little excused; so many things are impossible to find right now, with more or less unpacked boxes spread out between her apartment, Lux, and their new home. In hindsight, moving in together while taking over the almighty family business probably wasn’t the best idea, but they’ll get settled soon enough. Besides, right now, what’s important is that Lucifer was late because of a wardrobe crisis, and she will not let that slide.
‘You couldn’t just wear one of your three hundred other suits?’
A flicker of hurt and sheepishness flashes across Lucifer’s face.
‘Well, this one is special.’
Chloe takes in his suit: the navy jacket, the matching waistcoat, the royal blue shirt.
‘Oh.’
He smirks at her as heat creeps up her cheeks (so much for not being a schoolgirl).
‘You remember?’
She does. Of course, she does. She remembers vividly—how shocked he’d been at first, how new and soft his lips had felt against hers. How they’d held onto each other until the sun was setting and she really did have to go home and feed Maze and Trixie.
She also remembers how she, later, behind closed lids, had ripped off the shirt and waistcoat in desperate need. How it’d earned her a husky chuckle and a breathy ‘D’tective!’, and the sinful Heaven that was his hot and open mouth.
‘You okay, darling?’ Lucifer looks at her, his expression somewhere between concerned and amused. His thumb brushes the back of her hand.
Chloe takes a sip of wine and clears her throat. Adjusts her necklace.
‘Yeah, just, you know. Reminiscing.’
He studies her flushed face for a second before his curious smile spreads into a full-blown Cheshire grin.
‘You had a wet dream about me, didn’t you?! After our first kiss?’
Chloe glares at him. ‘Say it a little louder for the people in the back, will ya?’ He opens his mouth, and she immediately feels the need to clarify, ‘Do not say it a little louder for the people in the back.’
His smile doesn’t falter. ‘I’m just ecstatic to know our first kiss left you all hot and bothered. I mean, not that I’m surprised.’ He brings his wine glass to his lips and lets go of her hand to gesture down himself.
Chloe rolls her eyes. ‘Yeah, like you didn’t go home and wanked yourself blind that night.’
He laughs, surprised by her bluntness, and shamelessly answers, ‘Why, of course I did. That night, other nights. Before and after that kiss. This morning. You serve as quite the spank bank, my dear.’
She definitely doesn’t blush at that. But she does glance down at his waistcoat, at the soft skin and hard muscles she knows hide beneath it. She gives him a slow and dirty smirk, appreciative.
‘You too, baby.’
Lucifer raises an eyebrow, his eyes darkening. Much to Chloe’s satisfaction, his neck and cheeks redden a little. Then he gives her a lopsided grin, smug and impressed.
‘Pray tell, Detective.’ His eyes glide down her face, her chest, her stomach, and slowly back up again.
In another time, she would have given him a stern look and told him it was none of his business, but she doesn’t. She also doesn’t tell him about lonely nights and long showers and crying his name into her pillow when they were still just friends. Instead, she leans across the table and half-whispers—
‘If you behave yourself tonight, I might show you.’
He gulps. Squirms a little in his seat, and—when he’s regained his composure and quite indiscreetly adjusted himself under the table—leans forward till there’s only mere inches between their faces.
‘Is that a promise?’ His voice is low and husky, his breath hot against her face. His eyes drop to her lips.
‘Pardon, monsieur, mais l’entrée est prête.’
They lean back in their seats and turn to the poor, young waiter, who’s balancing two seemingly heavy plates, a carafe of water, and a basket of crusty bread in his arms.
‘Lovely!’ Lucifer’s eyes follow the food as the waiter puts it down in front of them. ‘Merci beaucoup, Olivier.’
Olivier smiles at Lucifer, shy but with a look in his eyes Chloe knows all too well. She doesn’t blame him.
‘Ça va?’ Lucifer asks, his voice lined with genuine fondness.
Olivier nods. ‘Oui, ça va. Et toi?’
Lucifer looks to Chloe, beaming. He takes her hand on the table and interlocks their fingers again.
‘Tout va très bien,’ he answers, looking back up at Olivier with a dazzling smile.
Olivier’s eyes drop to their hands and, probably, to the ring, white and pearlescent, on Chloe’s third finger. His lips tug up at the corner.
‘Je peux voir ça. Félicitations!’ Before Lucifer can respond to that, whatever it means, Olivier gestures towards their food. ‘Et bon appétit.’
Lucifer replies with a friendly ‘merci’ and calls out something like ‘Salue ton père de ma part!’ as Olivier walks off.
Chloe stares at Lucifer, twirling the smashed bullet around her neck between her fingers.
‘What?’ he asks, curious.
She tilts her head, smiling. ‘French suits you.’
He smiles back, lasciviously. ‘Yeah?’
‘Mm-hm.’
The look he gives her leaves no doubt that, sooner or later, he’ll be whispering foreign phrases against her skin.
But right now, they have other appetites to sate. They dig into the first course, and the (assumedly) insanely high prices suddenly make sense, because it is frigging good. The main course is even more delicious—divine, actually, to the point where Chloe has to ask Lucifer if he accidentally spiked the food with a blessing or two. He assures her it’s all Olivier’s father, no holiness involved, apart from Chef Beaumont’s heavenly cœeur de filet de bœuf. Chloe moans in agreement, savouring every bite.
He watches her with a smile, jokingly apologising for not serving her grilled cheese, and she makes a bad joke about this date being cheesy enough as it is. Because it is cheesy. Him buying her a dress, bringing her red roses, the love note, the candlelit restaurant, the French food, not to mention the suit. It’s like a rom-com parody.
But it’s also perfect. It’s everything she’s longed for, an over-the-top romantic date night with her- with her partner. A date that isn’t cut short by a horny stewardess (may she rest in peace) or a failed attempt at exorcism; where Lucifer actually shows up and isn’t just trying to outdo another man; where Chloe isn’t trying to make him ‘do something good for a change’; and their parents aren’t tagging along on a headache-inducing surprise double date that is also a sting in disguise.
So, in some ways, it is kinda their first date.
And it’s a really, really nice date.
They laugh—they laugh so much. More than they’ve done in the past few months combined. Or so it feels, at least.
They laugh, and they talk. About movies they cried to, favourite drinks, and how they’re gonna paint the living room. About the summers spent under the plum tree in Nana’s garden, and all the pranks pulled in the gilded meadows of Heaven. About chasing Amenadiel through the clouds, and how Chloe always wanted a sibling. About her short-lived Hollywood experience and that one time she may have gotten a little high at a Backstreet Boys concert. (He seems impressed by that, her ‘abhorrent’ taste in music aside.) They exchange secrets they never told anyone, stories of bad kisses—Jed used too much tongue; Will was always better with words—and tales from drunken nights out. They reminisce on the first time they met—how annoying she’d found him, how compelling he’d found her—and the many, many cases, some really weird, that first encounter led to.
They talk about Dan.
About missing him, even though he’s making waffles with Charlotte now.
About Trixie, and how therapy seems to be helping her, too. How she still sometimes breaks down crying, but no longer crawls into their bed in the middle of the night, shaking and gasping for air. How she’d laughed the other day, and it’d made them both cry. How incredibly strong she is, that little urchin.
They talk about going to Paris one day, all three of them—the French do make excellent chocolate cakes—or maybe somewhere else she wants to see, once everything is calmer. They talk about some of the prayers Lucifer has been hearing, about faith and free will, what they miss about solving crimes together, what they don’t miss, and how they’re still very much partners, even more so now—in every corner of life.
They talk till their cheeks hurt from smiling and Chloe’s half-drunk on expensive Burgundy. Lucifer asks for the cheque, their food long gone, and pays with cash, making sure to leave a tip possibly the size of Olivier’s monthly salary.
They leave the restaurant giggling about a stupid joke Lucifer makes, his hand splayed out on the small of her back. Her own hand is placed much lower than what is decent for such a fancy place like this, practically cupping his ass, but she’s tipsy enough not to care, and he doesn’t seem to mind the attention. It’s his own fault, anyway, for having his pants tailored to hug his butt like this.
Naturally, Lucifer drives. He doesn’t hold back his comments on how slow and boring her car is, but at least he stays somewhere close to the speed limit. She wishes he’d also wear a seatbelt, and keep both hands on the wheel, but his palm is nice and warm on her thigh, and she trusts he’ll get them home safely. She leans back in her seat, her head comfortably buzzing from wine and him, and watches the blurry city lights through the window. He’s turned down 2ndStreet.
‘Where are we going?’ She looks over at him, curious.
He smiles in the shadows, his fingers stroking the skin left exposed by the slit in her dress. His touch leaves hot, tingling paths on her thigh.
‘I thought we’d go for a second desert.’
Chloe is beyond full, her dress stretched over her now slightly rounder belly, and she can think of other things she’d rather do (things that include pinning Lucifer to their bed and making him groan and beg and laugh), but she’ll never say no to a freshly brewed latte and watching Lucifer obscenely enjoy some Sicilian pastry.
She turns up the radio, fumbling a bit, and closes her eyes with a smile, more content than she’s been in… a long time. His hand stays on her thigh as they move through the night, fingers tapping to the beat of the songs against her skin, creeping higher, teasing, just enough to make her breath hitch, but nothing more, and then back down again. Maybe they’ll just take that latte to-go.
The car comes to a final halt, and first then does Chloe realise they haven’t stopped outside the late-night café and bakery that’s opened down on Spring Street.
‘Lucifer, what’—she looks around, double-checking—‘what are we doing at the back entrance to the precinct? You said we were getting desert.’
He leans across the centre console, fingers spreading on her thigh, and brings their faces so close their noses touch. Chloe swallows.
‘We are,’ he assures her with a wolfish grin, his gaze lingering hungrily on her, and she could jump him right then and there. But he takes his hand off her body and clicks her seatbelt free, pulls the key out of the ignition and exits the car. He strides to her side and opens the door for her, gentlemanly as ever, and she watches him with narrowed eyes as she takes his hand and steps out, sceptical even in her cloud of lust and inebriation.
He heads directly for the back entrance and opens the black iron door with ease, rudely ignoring the state-of-the-art security locks. A part of her knows she should stop him right there and give him a stern talking-to about respecting human laws—he still can’t do whatever the hell he likes just because he’s God now. But another part, the part of her who helped him empty two bottles of French wine, really wants to step over that threshold, to intertwine their fingers and go on a late-night adventure. And that part of her must overpower the other, because she lets him snake his arm around her waist and lead her through the door and inside the familiar building.
She senses him grinning by her side, his fingers curling around her hip in a deliciously tight grip that only stokes the heat pooling low in her belly. He takes her down the corridor, around the corner, and then they’re there, in the middle of the precinct. Everything is covered in darkness, the wide, open space only illuminated by a never-resting info screen and the purplish glow from the vending machine. Still, she can make out the shape of their desk, the door to Ella’s lab, the interrogation room. The fridge in the breakroom still hums obnoxiously, and the air smells like strong coffee and sugary glaze—or maybe that’s just a phantom. Either way, it all tugs at her heart, beckons her down memory lane, and she lets herself be pulled. Through the good, the bad, and the crazy.
Lucifer is quiet beside her, probably lost in nostalgia himself, or maybe just letting her have this moment. But not for long. With titillating eagerness and a devilish smirk, he wraps his fingers around her wrist and pulls her by the hand—towards the evidence closet.
He presses her up against the door, his body hot and hard against hers, and pins her hand against the cold glass of the frosted window. His dark eyes sparkle with mischievous excitement.
‘There’s something we never got to try.’
Her pulse quickens, blood humming loud and hot.
‘Lucifer, we can’t.’ She tries to sound firm around her suddenly heavy breaths and dry throat, but he doesn’t seem discouraged in the least.
He leans in, closer, his smirking lips brush against her ear. ‘Can’t we, now?’
And as if he hadn’t done enough already, he takes her earlobe between his teeth and bites it.
Chloe smothers a gasp.
‘We shouldn’t.’ She puts her hand on his chest and pushes her head against his, nudging him away from her neck so she can thinkfor a second. He reluctantly obeys and settles for placing his hands on her sides, dangerously high, thumbs almost stroking the underside of her breasts. She pushes his hands down to her waist. ‘We shouldn’t have sex in Evidence—shouldn’t have broken into the precinct in the first place. I mean, do you want us to get arrested?’
He only laughs at that, of course. ‘I’m God, darling. I won’t get arrested.’
Chloe rolls her eyes. He would probably charm his way out of it if they were caught, God or not—but that doesn’t make any of this okay. She’s about to tell him as much when he adds-
‘But if you wanted to cuff me and tell me what to do, resisting would be the last thing on my mind. In fact, I’m sure we can find some cuffs lying about-’
‘Lucifer, no.’
Her tone is sharper than she’d intended. He pulls back a little, studying her face. His eyes flicker to her parted lips, her flushed, heaving chest, and then back to her determined gaze. His brows furrow.
‘Do you really not want to do this?’ His voice is soft, serious.
They stare at each other, hot breaths mingling. He’s still pressed up against her, a six-foot-three wall of muscle and love, and his scent—spicy cologne and smoke—floods her head like ambrosia, a dizzying fog of him. Her skin burns beneath his palms, his touch sending embers through the expensive fabric and down, flames licking at her inner thighs. Her heartbeat thumps in her ears.
‘We don’t even work here anymore,’ she rasps, deflecting his question. It’s a weak excuse, but she is fraying at the edges.
A salacious smile forms on Lucifer’s face. ‘We’ll just pretend we do.’
He takes a step back, putting a more ‘professional’ distance between them, adjusts his lapels and attempts at a neutral expression. ‘You wanted to show me something in Evidence, Detective?’
And there’s that word again, want—because she still hasn’t answered his question and her consent means more to him than anything. She loves him for that, she really does, but right now, it’s not that simple. She wants, every cell in her body wants, wants him to shove her into that closet and take her apart. Has wanted it for so long, thought about it for years—at her desk, in the shower, while sitting next to him during interrogations. Thought about it in the self-same evidence closet, as she was pressed up against the wall by someone else. Imagined tugging at his hair, feeling him between her legs—even had to swallow his name. She still thinks about it, thought about it the other night, briefly, wistfully, while making a cup of tea. Thought about how much fun they could have had, sneaking off to secret corners of the precinct like two horny teenagers—if it hadn’t been for, well, mostly Michael, and all the chaos he’d released upon their lives.
In fact, it’s only fair they have at least one reckless, semi-public rendezvous. Just one. To make up for the honeymoon phase they never really had. With all the hurt and heartbreak they’ve had to go through, alone and together, they deserve to have one night of stupid fun.
On the other hand, and this is why it’s not that simple, it’s a bad idea. It’s a really bad idea. And also, pretty illegal. If she asked him to, if she said no now, he would take her home and push her up against the nearest surface, bury himself in her faster than any of them could get their clothes off, bring her to ecstasy-
But it’s not the same. It just isn’t.
With as much innocence she can muster, she looks up at his anticipatory face and puts her hand on the doorknob. The cold steel is a soothing balm against her burning skin.
‘I do want to show you something in Evidence.’
He lights up like it’s a declaration of love, all unrestrained enthusiasm.
‘After you, darling.’
Their lips crash against each other before the door is even closed. He pushes her backwards in the semi-darkness, between shelves and boxes, hands low on her hips. His fingers dig softly into her ass as they stumble towards a sliver of wall together, panting and laughing against each other’s mouths. He doesn’t break contact with her lips as he quickly sheds his jacket on the way and throws it over his shoulder, for the moment uncaring of dirt and creases. Then her back hits the wall with a thunk and she’s instantly struck by déjà vu, until Lucifer grabs her thigh inside the slit of her dress, and the unwelcome memory quickly evaporates in the heat of their clashing bodies as he wraps her bare leg around his waist and pins her to the wall with the hard press of his hips. Their unison groans fill the cramped space.
‘We shouldn’t be here,’ she murmurs breathlessly against his lips before opening her mouth to let his tongue back in. He tastes like wine and crème brûlée.
He hums in disagreement. ‘We should always be here, Detective.’ With the hand still on her ass, he pushes their bodies impossibly closer together and rocks against her. She moans, despite herself.
‘We- I-‘ Chloe stammers, leaning her head back as he kisses his way down her neck, her mind and body pulling in different directions. ‘This is- why am I letting you get away with this?’
She feels him smirk against her throat. His hand slowly glides up her inner thigh—her pulse quickening with every inch—until his thumb brushes past damp fabric.
‘Because you like me.’ His beard rasps against her hot skin in the crook of her neck, a contrast to his soft lips placing slow, open-mouthed kisses from her jaw to her collar. ‘Because you love me.’
Chloe scoffs.
‘Do I love you?’ she questions, her breathing erratic, her eyes turned to the ceiling as he sucks a mark onto her neck. With the hand that is still between her legs, he pushes her underwear to the side and rubs against her, nice and slow. ‘Yes.’ Her gasped answer has a proud, almost victorious chuckle rumbling from his chest.
‘But do I like you?’—she bites her lip and stifles another moan as his fingers press just right—‘That’s still up for debate.’
He breaks off the assault on her neck and looks up at her, eyes black with desire.
‘Allow me to try and tip the scales, then.’
She’s bereaved of his fingers as his hand moves to the edge of her underwear, pulling it down as he sinks to his knees. She almost stumbles when he slips it over her feet, but he grabs her leg, steadying her, and helps her out of her stilettos. Once she’s barefoot, his warm palms slide up the side of her legs, pushes the hem of her dress up a few inches, and then his mouth is on her.
He licks her, slowly, tenderly. She reaches down to pull at his hair, commanding him to give her more, to take more, and he does. He starts feasting on her, all tongue and lips and-
‘God, yes.’
He chuckles smugly into her core. ‘I do love it when you moan my name, darling.’ Eyes fixed on hers, he gives her a nice, long lick before he dives back in. He kisses her clit, sucks it, circles it, laps at her like he can’t get enough, and she’s reduced to a quivering, whimpering mess. She bucks against his face, needing more, and he does that thing that she likes, tongue flicking her clit, warm and wet, as he pushes a finger inside her.
Her eyes clench shut, her head falls back against the wall. She doesn’t bother holding back her groan this time.
Lucifer hums against her, low and greedy, taking as much as he can, before he pulls away with ragged breaths. ‘Ma déesse, que tu as bon gout.’
The meaning is forever lost on her, but his hungry tone, the way his tongue wraps smoothly around the French syllables, the words dripping like sin from his glistening lips, sends warm shivers down her spine.
He slows down his pace inside her, places kisses on her lower belly, seeks her ticklish spots and the ones that make her breath hitch, and then trails down to her hips, studying her sharp bone with his lips and his teeth, before moving down to her thigh, stubble prickling her tender skin. As if he’s got all the time in the world, he lets his mouth travel to the insides of her legs, already spread for him, and kisses a path up her inner thighs, getting closer and closer to where she aches with need, but never quite there. His finger, still moving slowly—too slowly—curls a bit, reaches that spot deep inside her that usually makes her see stars, but he pulls back before she’s even done gasping.
‘Lucifer,’ she breathes, a threat and a plea.
He places one last kiss to her sensitive thigh, nuzzles his nose against her heat, before his tongue finally finds her clit again and his finger starts pumping inside her, fast and hard. Then faster, harder, and, fuck, deeper.
‘Baby,’ she begs him to continue, fire spreading through her body, from her curling toes to her already heated cheeks.
He slows down for a second, and she reaches down to scratch at his scalp in frustration but quickly forgives him when he adds another finger and resumes his perfect pace, thrusting up in her to the beat of her racing heart.
‘Je veux te faire jouir.’ His thumb replaces his tongue as he looks up at her, eyes sparkling with lust and determination, but also patience. Like he could do this for hours, the whole night, as long as she falls apart around his tongue and fingers in the end.
He doesn’t need all night, though. She’s close, so close, can feel the beginning of that blissful high burning in her lower belly, between her thighs, where his mouth licks and nibbles and sucks. A building warmth pumping through her veins. She grabs at his hair, wraps her leg around his shoulder and pushes his face closer into her heat, needing that last-
‘Fuck, right there,’ she gasps. Right there right there right there.
He smirks against her, always eager to please, and does as she says. As she’s teetering on the edge, he curls both fingers inside her, goes impossibly deeper, and reaches the same spot as before, except this time, he doesn’t stop, and she comes with a shudder and a gasped ‘fuck!’ as he licks her through it.
‘Tu es tellement belle, ma chérie,’ he tells her, voice soft with awe as she comes down from her high and opens her eyes. She understands enough of the words to smile down at him, at his dishevelled hair, his swollen lips, and warm, chocolatey eyes.
‘You too, baby.’
She still hasn’t caught her breath when he, after wiping his mouth on her thigh, slowly rises from his feet and starts making his way up her body. His fingers skate lightly up her dress, his knuckles brushing against her rising and falling ribs as his hands sneak higher and higher, closer and closer. With a feather-light touch, he starts tracing the curves of her breasts, deliberately avoiding her aching nipples. He teases her with his fingers, kisses her neck, lips trailing, hot and slow, up to her jaw and the sensitive spot behind her earlobe.
‘J’ai envie de toi,’ he says into her ear, his voice rough with want and determination.
Chloe can’t take it anymore. She fists his waistcoast in one hand and grabs him by the hair with the other to pull him up into a hard kiss. He tries to stay in control, to hold back his obvious desire for just a little longer, but he quickly loses the battle and lets a bit of hunger take over. They pour equal heat into the kiss, tongues pressing and teeth clashing as their mouths slide against each other. She threads her fingers through his curls, he bites her lip, and they both groan and gasp into the kiss.
Chloe’s the one to pull away, needing air sooner than him. They’re looking into each other’s eyes, both panting, when he says it again, ‘J’ai envie de toi.’ This time, breathy desperation shines through his voice. ‘Je veux être en toi.’
And then they’re kissing again and both of them are working at his belt and pants in a flurry of hands until he’s finally inside her with one quick thrust. He fills her to the hilt, deliciously stretching her inner muscles, warm and hard. For a moment, they’re both so overcome they can only pause and breathe, Lucifer’s forehead cradled in the crook of her shoulder as her hand gently strokes the short hairs on the back of his neck.
He pulls back to look deeply into her eyes, and starts off slow. Not teasing, just tender. He kisses her cheeks and neck, every inch of skin he can reach with his lips, and whispers sweet nothings against her skin. She can’t know for sure, of course, because it’s still in French, and she doesn’t catch all of it, the sounds alien and muffled—‘t’es incroyable’, she hears, ‘j’suis fou amoureux de toi’—but something about his tone tells her it’s not as dirty as whatever he was saying before. Still, it makes her just as wet, the words tingling across her skin.
He picks up the pace, wraps her legs tighter around him, and pushes her harder against the wall. His hand grasps her breast roughly, seeking purchase, then rhythmically strokes over her nipple in apology, and she moans her relief. The shelves on either side of them hit the wall with a consistent thump, thump, thump as he thrusts up into her, fucks her, their harsh pants mingling in the small space between their parted lips. Chloe claws at Lucifer’s shoulders and back, hands scrambling for something to hold onto. Even through the two layers of fabric, she can feel his warmth and muscles, and a sudden urge bubbles up within her. With desperate fingers, she starts undoing the buttons on his shirt, but it takes too long—she needs him—so she rips open both shirt and waistcoat and frantically pushes them off his shoulders. He pins her against the wall with a hard thrust, letting go of her thigh and breast to shake the material onto the floor, and Chloe scratches at his finally bare back and shoulders, nails digging into slick, freckled flesh. She arches back into the wall and bares her neck for him to nip and kiss.
‘Fuck, Lucifer!’ she whines. ‘Oh, God, baby, fuckyes!’
He growls at the sound of her noises and bites her ear.
‘J’adore baiser avec toi.’ One hand slides down to her ass, holding her and pushing her dress higher up as the other bites into the now bare skin at her waist. The sharp touch sends a jolt down to her throbbing clit, making her clench tighter around him. ‘J’adore ton corps. T’es vraiment une déesse.’ The last word is a groan against her lips as he kisses her.
It’s wet, messy, and so delicious they both grasp tightly onto each other’s mouths with lips, tongues and teeth, neither of them wanting to ever let go.
‘Je veux t’embrasser,’ Lucifer pants when they break apart for a second, his gaze fixed on her mouth as their lungs fight for air. His dark eyes soften when they look into hers. ‘Chaque jour de ma vie,’ he adds reverently as he leans in. ‘Pour toujours.’ And then he kisses her again, like he wants it to last for all eternity.
His thrusts turn slower and deeper as they kiss, harder, until kissing becomes panting into each other’s mouths and Chloe’s head falls back in sheer pleasure. He tightens his grip on her ass and runs the hand on her waist up her side, brushing his thumb over her nipple as he passes her breast, up her neck, and cups the side of her face. She lets their eyes meet, and the way he’s looking at her, with absolute awe and gratitude, makes her heart flutter and her hips buck against his bare stomach. Her hands slide from where they’ve been clutching his mess of a hair to his back, trailing down to where he’s most sensitive. She places her palms on either side of his spine and presses lightly, carefully.
‘Tu me-’ he cuts off with a gasp when her nails skim over his hidden wings, ‘Tu me rends- fucking hell, Chloe.’
She keens at the guttural sound of her name. He leans his forehead against hers with a grunt, the slight change in angle making his rhythm falter, one hand slamming against the wall next to her. She watches the rest of his control slip through glazed eyes. She did this to him. She rendered God himself lost to his own bliss. That knowledge itself is nearly enough to push her over the edge.
‘Close,’ she breathes.
He grabs both her thighs with strong hands and presses her flush up against the wall, going impossibly deeper inside her. She hisses through her teeth and sputters all kinds of incoherent, unholy prayers into the sweltering air between them. Every hard thrust pushes her closer to ecstasy.
‘You make me so happy,’ Lucifer whispers, sounding so wrecked and raw her eyes clench shut. ‘I want- I hope- fuck- I hope I make you, nnf, just as happy.’
‘You do, baby. You make me so- so-’
Heat floods her veins as she comes, the sweet tension snapping all at once. She cries out, arches her back, and moans long and low as he continues to fuck her through it. His thrusts are quick and inelegant, his arms and thighs trembling, and she knows he’s close. She intentionally clenches around him, whispers his name, and then he too is tumbling over the edge, the only type of falling she ever wants him to feel again.
They smile at each other as they try to catch their breaths, sweaty foreheads still pressed together.
‘I love you,’ he says. ‘So much.’
She hums with happiness, her heart pleasantly aching at the sound of the words he couldn’t say the last time they were here.
‘I love you too, babe.’ She reaches up to lazily nuzzle the hairs at the nape of his neck, still smiling.
‘Maybe you even like me?’
She lets out a breathy chuckle and slides down the wall to land on her bare feet. Her legs are… wobbly, to say the least. Lucifer smirks at her.
‘We’ll see about that.’ She smoothes out her dress as he tucks himself back into his pants and fastens his belt. ‘If anyone ever finds out about this, your chances are pretty bad, buddy.’
She collects his clothes from the floor and helps him into his shirt. Two buttons are missing, lost to the force of her hasty ripping. It gives her an odd sense of satisfaction, the fact that the shirt he wore when they first kissed—the shirt she dreamt of tearing off his body—now is marked by their little escapade. (At least until he gets his tailor to fix it.)
‘Well, I’ll just have to keep trying to convince you then, won’t I?’ He licks his lips and lifts his eyebrows as he offers her a hand to help her up from the floor once she’s put her shoes back on. Chloe bites her cheek so as to not smile at his suggestion and intertwines their fingers.
‘You can start by helping me assemble that new shelf system tomorrow,’ she tells him, waiting for him to groan in response, or mumble something about hiring some people to do it for them. But he doesn’t. He just opens the door for her and lets her go first with a soft smile on his still flushed face.
‘Anything for you, my love.’
The door shuts with a gentle click behind them.

Avallac’h’s Girlfriend
I’m not sure if anyone has posted about this before but omg poor thing?
Ok this isn’t Ciri or Avallac’h slander (well, maybe a bit of Avallac’h slander), just a comment about why I understand the way that Avallac’h’s supposed girlfriend acted like she did in the game and why she’s honestly the most disrespected girlfriend ever just think about it:
1. First of all, your boyfriend is not over his ex and literally everyone knows about it. It’s so obvious that complete strangers immediately pick up on the fact that he still has feelings for her (both Geralt and Ciri noticed how he spoke about Lara/reacted to her name being mentioned) and it’s almost a running joke between the Aen Elle (both Eredin and Ge’els making comments about Lara only for Avallac’h to immediately react to them, he literally has no sense of control or composure when it comes to her). He also spends his time away from his home world trying to protect elven graveyards that contain monuments to Lara, monuments he’s weirdly attached too and lingers over incessantly, even in front of complete strangers.
2. And THEN this girl shows up (ily Ciri but this isn’t about you right now) and literally everybody even the KING, Lara’s DAD, makes a comment about how she looks like Lara. Things are not looking good for you bc even the mention of Lara’s name sends Avallac’h in a frenzy and now there’s a whole person here he has to spend time with that literally looks like his ex.
3. NOT TO MENTION the fact that, although cruel (well, the cruel part is implied), he does have another way of getting a child of the elder blood from her (his lab) but even though he’s an extremely pragmatic person, he seems to want to avoid this option at all costs. Oh, but maybe he’s is a pacifist of sorts? Definitely not girl, he literally sics Ciri on Caranthir (who is basically his adopted son of sorts) knowing that she will kill him (and he doesn’t try to tell her to just stop attacking him when she destroys his staff).
4. Anyway, back to Tir na Lia, you get ready to go on a date with him and then this girl shows up, clearly about to have a meltdown, but instead of ignoring her (even though she turned around and was going to leave you alone), you get unceremoniously kicked out of the boat AND on top of it your boyfriend just tells the girl to “refrain from comment” about the look you gave her. Like, what is it Avallac’h? Why not just tell her that you have a girlfriend who is annoyed about you cancelling a date on her? Sure you can say that you’re just doing your job but the fact that she looks like your ex and you won’t state that you have a girlfriend is weird.
5. Speaking of hiding things, Avallac’h then gets in trouble with the Wild Hunt/Eredin and basically becomes a wanted man, meaning that he has to leave the land of the Aen Elle. You are attached/committed enough to him that you decide to side with him and also become a woman on the run. And then what does he do? Runs off to find Ciri and protect her. This is all good and well because, well, it is his job and he is trying to stop the apocalypse after all, but he really goes and makes things weird for no reason:
5a. First of all, he spends at least a small chunk of time on the run locating Lara’s bones, and trying to reanimate them in some way just to have a way to contact her, on TOP of having (maybe even building) a literal shrine dedicated to her in his lab. Seemingly he does this at the same time he’s preparing to have his body absolutely wrecked by Eredin’s curse (right before he finds Keira and gets the potion from her). So yes, this is how he’s choosing to spend his time on the run and in the (possible) last few weeks of his life.
5b. Ok so he’s on the run with Ciri, and he’s trying to gain her trust etc. That’s fine, it’s just part of his job. But then, for some reason, he focuses more time and energy creating potions (ointments? I can’t remember) to help her get rid of her scar. Maybe this is to make her feel more like herself and gain her trust, or maybe it’s to get rid of the scar that covers her eye (or should I say Lara’s eye).
5c. Oh also he refuses to bring CIri to his Lab in Skellige, basically hiding you from her yet again. Maybe he’s just private like that, maybe he doesn’t want her to know that he’s an expert on the topic of the Elder Blood (unlikely considering everything that went down in the Lady of the Lake and the fact that he’s protected her from the Wild Hunt at great personal risk for the last 6+months), so most likely he knows she has a bit of a thing for him and doesn’t want to mar that for ~whatever reason~.
5d. This is the worst one imo, his lab that you’re staying in is basically filled with Lara paraphernalia. Ok, so you’ve moved in. Have fun waking up to a whole-ass enormous wall mural depicting your boyfriend’s favourite obsession. Don’t like that? Ok, go into the next room where your boyfriend has MULTIPLE sketches of Lara/Ciri just, like,  lying about, in the open, no shame at all! Even worse, you’re not sure who it is in the photo, and you’re not even sure he knows, and it’s just the same sketch over and over. Obsessed much? Ok, whatever, you decide to go sit down and brush your hair and put on some perfume. Oh, what’s that on your vanity? Yep, it’s a necklace that belonged to his ex just laying there that he won’t get rid of.
5e. Oh and he can’t stop talking about Ciri. Even if it’s not positive, it’s all he seems to talk about. Oh and he’s straight-up told you how much Ciri looks like his Lara. His ex. That he’s obsessed with. Like, to your face.
6. Ciri and company then break into your house and proceed to trash the place.
Not saying she was justified in being so nasty, but I get it.

full name : logan rhodes
nicknames : lo, lolo, log
age : twenty-three
birthday : september 2nd

logan was born to a drug addicted mother, father unknown, who tried to raise her but mostly just neglected her, even left her home alone sometimes. it didn’t take long for someone to call child protective services on her and logan was removed from the house. while being checked out in the pediatric intensive care unit, her now adoptive father saw her and heard she was going to be put in foster care. he and his wife had been wanting another kid anyway so they immediately asked to adopt her. this was the part of her backstory she wasn’t aware of. to this day, logan is not aware she was adopted.
she grew up knowing herself as the youngest daughter of a surgeon and a psychologist with an older brother and two older sisters. she loved her sisters but she was always the closest to her brother. she looked up to him like a role model and sure they had their sibling fights, but overall he was one of her best friends.
her parents heavily encouraged the kids to become doctors. while some of her siblings disobeyed that and went into other fields, logan went along with that and is currently in medical school to be an oncologist. deep down, what she truly wanted to be was a vet tech like her brother. shiloh had tried to convince her to go for what she wanted but logan had convinced herself that she belonged in oncology so that’s where she went.
logan’s parents never showed very much affection toward each other, if any at all. they showered the kids with love but never displayed it to each other. logan vowed she would never be that way with her partner. a relationship wasn’t a business transaction, they both deserved love and affection.
despite always being heavily stressed during the school year, logan is an overall sweet person. she moved out about a year ago because she needed to be more independent. she has a little chiweenie named posie who she absolutely adores.

Onto the next chapter!
The Eighth Month 5b/6
Chapter Two
Evening at the Hotel
Needing to stay out of the house while the paint fumes recede, Scully enjoys an afternoon to herself and the evening with Mulder.
Tumblr media
Scully stepped into the hotel room, with the bellhop right behind her. He had insisted on carrying her bag, even though it was not heavy. He was a sweet Southern young man, about mid 20’s. He had told her on the elevator ride up that his mama and his grandma would tan his hide if they knew he had let a pregnant woman carry her own bag. She had laughed and thanked him, touching his arm.
He set the bag down on the bed and asked if she needed anything else. She smiled and said no, handing him a twenty dollar bill and thanking him for his help, and grasping his hand. He stammered that she gave him way too much for a tip, but she shook her head and said that his kindness and helpfulness was much appreciated. He looked at her and thanked her, telling her if she needed anything, he would be happy to help her. She smiled and locked the door behind him as he left.
She leaned against the door and looked around. This was a really nice hotel room. All the furniture was a dark colored wood. The bed cover was cream with beautiful detailing in it. The pillows were fluffy and the whole room smelled wonderful.
She walked into the bathroom and gasped. There was a bathtub big enough for two people. There were jets in the tub and she knew she was going to be using those later. The shower was big and had a seat in it. She smiled at the memory of the shower seat in a hotel in California, so many years ago, and touched her swollen belly. Definitely would not be using that tonight.
The sinks were standalone deep bowl sinks, with counters in between. The mirrors were big and the lights able to dim. This was probably the nicest hotel she had ever stayed.
Mulder. God, she loved that man. Loved him for the care he took to do all that was needed at home, but also to give her this luxurious night out. He knew just how to get to her. The pampering and spoiling she rarely did for herself, he saw to it for her. He had his faults, but his sweetness and thoughtfulness made up for them in spades.
She walked back into the bedroom and sat on the bed. Sighing as she slipped off her shoes, she fell back on the bed. Oh god, it was comfortable. She turned on her side and stretched.
She was tired, but the day had actually been fun and not as cringe worthy as she had imagined. Either baby showers had changed since her last one, or someone must have made an effort to not have the embarrassing games she had imagined. Instead, they had a nice luncheon, played a couple of fun games, chatted and opened presents. In total, there had been about twenty women in attendance. She had received wonderful gifts and had been incredibly grateful for the ones who had given them.
She felt a sense of guilt that she had complained to Mulder about going to the party. It was not as bad as she thought. Yes, some of the women were more bubbly than she was used to, but they were kind and attentive to her.
One young woman in particular, Dr. Stevens, Annabelle, had been extremely kind and sweet. She had approached Scully almost shyly, and told her that she had admired her work for years now, but had never had the courage to tell her. The papers Scully had written, the cases she had worked on, were amazing and awe inspiring. She had great respect for her.
Scully had been taken aback, not one to bask in the praise. She had thanked her, but could see that she had more to say. She had invited her to sit next to her as they ate, and Annabelle’s eyes lit up.
During the meal, she had plagued Scully with questions. She had wanted to know what made her decide on her specialty, when she knew she wanted to be a doctor, was it true she also worked at the FBI, how that factored into her work as a doctor, and what her plans were after she had the baby.
Scully had looked at her and Annabelle blushed to the roots of her hair. She had apologized profusely for asking so many personal questions and looked down at her plate ad Scully had smiled. She had recognized the thirst for knowledge and also the exuberance of youth. Had she ever been that young? It seemed so long ago.
Scully had answered her questions and then asked her where she worked at the hospital and about her specialty. Annabelle had become more animated about her own specialty and what she wanted to do in the future. Scully informed her that she had heard of her work, but had not known the name to go with the face. She had told her she was doing wonderful work and to keep continuing with it. She had offered her some advice and steps to take to reach her goals for the future.
Annabelle had blinked away tears as she told her how much her words meant to her. Scully smiled. She remembered how words of encouragement had helped her. She was happy to offer advice to fellow doctors. Especially to young women setting out on their path.
Her OB, Doctor Reynolds, Elise, had been invited as well and her friendly face was a welcome sight. She had inquired how she was, an informal checkup so to speak. They had spoken of the upcoming birth and preparations at home. Scully had told her about Mulder getting things ready and Skinner coming to help.
Elise and she had laughed at the story of the bookcase losing all the books, thus cementing Mulder’s credibility in being able to properly put furniture together. She had brought another picture for Mulder from Raina. This time it was two round people holding stick arms together and inside one person was a little face, which was “Ms. Dana’s baby.”
Scully had looked at it and her eyes filled with tears. She had dabbed at her eyes as Elise rubbed her shoulder and then put the picture in the gift bag she had brought so it would not be misplaced.
After the games, it had been time to open gifts. Annabelle had offered to write down all the items so Scully had a list. Much laughter and teasing had occurred while she opened them. She had received many cute outfits, a baby carrier and a baby wrap, supplies, baskets to store items, blankets, and many books.
There were even items for her now and after the arrival of the baby. Bubble bath, a couple bottles of red wine, and a bag of dark roasted fully caffeinated coffee beans which made her salivate and the women laugh and nod in solidarity. She strongly suspected someone got in touch with Mulder about items she liked.
After the party, Annabelle had offered to take the gifts home with her and drop them off the next day when she heard of Scully staying the night in the hotel. She was happy to help and cheerfully loaded up her car.
Elise had suggested they go out for a coffee, and so they had. It was nice and interesting to have someone to talk to besides Mulder. She would take him over them any day, but female companionship was something she was sorely lacking. She had enjoyed the couple hours she had spent with Elise. She was funny, smart, sarcastic, and had a great sense of humor. They had a fun time discussing patients who had been tough, or who had really touched their lives. Scully was pleased to find they had so much in common. She was glad they had the chance to bond a little more before the baby was born. She had left shortly after their coffee and arrived at the hotel.
She stood up now and found her phone in her bag. It was 4:00 now. Three and a half hours before she had to be downstairs to meet Mulder for dinner. Maybe she had time to squeeze in a quick nap and then a soak in that wonderful tub. She set the alarm for 5:30, took off everything but her underwear and bra, slipped under the covers into the softest sheets ever, and was asleep in minutes.
It felt as though she had barely closed her eyes when her alarm began blaring. She groaned and hit snooze. After the second time hitting the button, she knew she needed to get up.
She stumbled into the bathroom and turned on the bathtub water. When the temperature was right, she plugged it up and waited for it to fill. She used the toilet, her eyes closed and head down, still tired. The baby suddenly gave her a swift quick and she gasped, her eyes flying open.
“Jesus, little one,” she said softly, rubbing where the baby had kicked. “Try not to kick so hard.”
She stood up and took off her under things. Walking toward the tub, she caught her reflection and walked closer to the mirror. She stared at her stomach, at the way it was stretching to accommodate the growing life inside her. She marveled at the amazement of the reproduction process. How a single sperm and egg begins the process that creates a human life. How something microscopic could find the other, band together, and develop into an actual person. Two halves becoming whole.
She rubbed her stomach, the love for this child filling her heart. She closed her eyes, thinking of her other child out alone in the world. She hoped he had found people to help him on his journey, praying one day that journey would bring him back to her. To Mulder. She wanted to hold him again and see for herself that he was okay.
She opened her eyes and turned to the tub, finding it was nearly full. She saw different types of bubble bath and oils on the edge of the tub she had not noticed before. She looked at them and decided on a lavender scented oil. She added some to the bath and breathed in the scent, feeling relaxed already.
She turned the water off, put her hair up, and climbed in the tub. Oh.. it was wonderful. The tub was so deep, she could almost float around in it. She leaned back and let the lavender scent and warmth of the water soothe her.
The baby rolled and swirled in her stomach. The water seeming to propel her moving like a little fish. She smiled as she watched the movements. She remembered when she was pregnant with William how he would do the same thing; rolling all around inside of her, as she lay in the tub.
He had loved the bath when he was a baby, too. Always splashing and smiling when she put him in water. She closed her eyes as she tried not to cry. She had so few memories of his childhood and the ones she had were so precious.
She found herself wondering about his love of water. Did he always like it? Did he enjoy swimming? That exhilarating feeling of jumping in a cold pool on a hot day?
She could not stop the tears that filler her eyes. She no longer felt the guilt, but she still felt the sadness. She and Mulder had been robbed of loving their son, being his parents, being a family. She sobbed for all they had missed, all they would have had.
The baby moved around again and all of a sudden, she saw a vision of the sea. She could almost feel the wind and smell the salty air. She gasped and her heart started pounding. She knew this was Jackson. Knew he was trying to contact her. She slowed her crying, closed her eyes, and paid attention.
She saw the sand and the rocks, as if seeing it through his eyes. The water was getting closer, the setting sun shining off of it. She saw feet, toes in the water, as the waves approached and receded from the shore. Then ankles were covered with the water, sand squishing between the toes. The water was still, the ripples stopped, when she saw a face reflected in the water. Jackson was grinning at her. He put up two fingers- a peace sign. He nodded and then the vision was gone.
She opened her eyes and cried through her laughter. He was okay. He was somewhere by the sea and he wanted her to know.
Since the night he had come to her months ago, she had not had any visions. She thought he must be learning to control his abilities and it seemed that he had. He figured out how to tap into her emotions when she was thinking of him, needing assurance that he was okay. She cried and cried. Happy tears falling without stopping. He was all right and by the water. He must still love it.
She took deep breaths and turned on the tub jets, letting the bubbles swirl around her as she rubbed her stomach, making a promise to this child. No one would hurt her, or try to take her away from them. There were two of them now and they were stronger together. No harm would come to her.
She reaffirmed a promise to Jackson too, hoping he could still feel her. She would be there for him, they would be there for him, whenever he needed them. The house and they were always waiting for him to come to them, when he was ready. She wiped her face and let the bubbles relax her for just a little longer.
Turning off the jets a few minutes later, she got out of the tub, pulled the plug, and dried off with the fluffy white towel folded by the tub. She put on the robe that was hanging on the back of the door and went into the bedroom.
She had a new dress for this evening, one Mulder had not yet seen. She had bought it when she bought the one for the baby shower. She took it out of her bag and hung it up, glad the material was one that did not wrinkle easily.
It was a deep plum color, with a dark indigo satin piping crisscrossed across the chest. A matching satin sash tied around the high waist and ran the length of the dress, which fell just past her knees. The sleeves were three quarter and fitted. She had loved it before she even tried it on.
She bought new underwear too, lacy plum colored ones and a bra that matched. She planned on enticing Mulder to walk her back up to her room and she wanted to be ready.. for anything.
She took off her robe and put on her lotion before sliding on her underwear and bra and walking into the bathroom with her makeup bag. She put on her makeup a little bit differently tonight, her eyes a bit darker with more eyeliner and mascara than usual. She had a new purple eye shadow that matched her dress which she applied carefully, not wanting to overdo it. She put on lipstick in a shade she had not worn in a long time. Letting her hair down, it fell in loose waves. God bless those pregnancy hormones and prenatal vitamins; her hair was fuller than it ever had been before.
Her phone began ringing from the other room and she walked out and saw that it was Mulder calling.
“Hello?” she said with a smile.
“Scully? Can you hear me?” he shouted, causing her to pull the phone away from her ear.
“Yes, Mulder I can hear you,” she said, sitting on the bed.
“Scully? Hello?” he shouted again.
“Mulder! I can hear you!” she shouted back, trying not to laugh.
“This fucking thing." She heard him mutter. “This Bluetooth, Scully. It never connects right. Hello?”
She put her hand over her mouth and shook her head. He always had a problem with his phone connecting to the Bluetooth in the car. She had received many frantic, expletive filled phone calls from him. He almost always gave up and put his headphones on, cursing all the while.
When she would come home, she would show him again how to connect it and he would claim he had done all that but it did not work. She would easily connect his and he would stand there, shaking his head and cursing. Sounded like she would need to give him another lesson.
“Hello?” he shouted again. “Scully, I fucking give up. I don’t have my headphones with me, so hopefully you can hear me. I’m on my way. I’ll meet you at the restaurant at 7:30. Scully? Shit! I hate this thing! Just fucking connect!” he screamed. And then the phone hung up.
She sat there and laughed at how inept he was at simple things but could phreak a phone to find information. She had to love that man.
She waited, but he did not call back. She got up and picked up her dress, taking it off the hanger and slipping it on. Oh.. she loved the color and was pleased with how good she looked, pregnant stomach and all.
She slid her shoes on, looked at her reflection one more time, then glanced at her phone. Ten minutes. Well, it would take her a few minutes to get downstairs. She also wanted to be already seated when he walked into the restaurant. She wanted to see his face when he saw her in this dress. See his wide eyes of surprise changing to desire. It never failed to arouse her.
She put her key card in her bra and left her phone behind. She would not need anything else and when they arrived at the door later and he watched her take the key out of her bra.. she knew he would be staying for a little while. Yes, she knew what she was doing.
As she arrived at the restaurant, she noticed there was a wedding reception in the large room next door. She could hear a band playing and she smiled, silently wishing the couple a lifetime of happiness.
She walked up to the restaurant hostess and gave her name. She was seated right away, with the eyes of the hostess on her stomach. Scully laughed quietly at her attempt to be nonchalant about it, but failing miserably. The hostess caught her eye and blushed as she walked away and Scully just laughed again.
She sat facing the front of the restaurant and waited. The waiter approached and she ordered some bubbly water for her and a beer for Mulder.
She saw Mulder walking up a couple minutes later out of the corner of her eye. She kept facing away until she knew he had spoken to the hostess. When she saw him looking for her, she stared straight at him.
She saw the face when he saw her, the exact one she had been hoping for. His eyes widened and his surprised gaze traveled down what he could see. His eyes had became desirous on the return trip to her face. Oh yeah, she still had it. Scoot in her boot and all that.
She saw him wave the hostess away and point to her. He walked over and his eyes burned into her. She stood up and he stopped walking, eyes roaming over her body. The waiter arrived and her attention was momentarily diverted as he set the drinks down.
Mulder made it to her side as the waiter backed away. He placed a hand on her hip and brushed his lips against her cheek, then moved to her ear.
“Jesus Christ, Scully. Do you have any idea how gorgeous you look right now?” he whispered, his fingers on her hip curling in and pulling at her.
“I have some idea,” she impishly replied as he stood back and stared at her. His gaze traveled from her face, to her breasts, her legs, and stopped at her breasts again, before looking in her eyes.
“We should have just ordered room service. My god..” he said, shaking his head.
“You don’t look so bad yourself, Mulder,” she said letting her eyes travel over his tall frame.
He had on dark jeans and a white shirt under a black sweater she loved. He smelled amazing and she almost suggested they head upstairs, but she had made the effort to get dressed and made up. She wanted to have a nice night out with him, not knowing how many of them they had left before the baby arrived.
He shook his head and stepped back from her. He held her chair as she sat back down before taking his seat across from her. He shook his head again, as she smiled at him.
“Seriously, Scully. They need to retire that dress and let it forever be known as the “Dana Scully dress.” No one would ever or could ever hope to look as beautiful as you when they wear it. No one should even bother trying.” he said, his eyes dark, his face serious.
“Flattery will get you everywhere, Mulder, but it will not feed the hungry child inside me. So, let’s figure out what we’re going to have for dinner and then you can keep those compliments coming,” she said, raising her eyebrows and reaching for her menu. He laughed and reached for his as she grazed his leg with her foot and he looked at her as she smiled at him.
“Thank you,” she said quietly.
He nodded and smiled back at her. They were quiet as they studied the menu. The waiter came up again and told them of the specials. He described a pasta with creamy tomato sauce, that made Scully’s stomach growl. She asked for that and set her menu down, looking at Mulder. He ordered a steak and potatoes, a side of fries, and a bowl of French onion soup.
The waiter looked at him, but said nothing. He left the table, taking their menus, and Scully looked at Mulder.
“Potatoes and fries, Mulder?” she asked him, raising her eyebrows.
“Stop. The fries are for you. You know you want them and you have been craving them as long as the grilled cheese sandwiches. You won’t ever order them, but you always want them,” he said, looking at her pointedly.
He was right, and she could not argue that he was not. She had craved the oddest things. Grilled cheese sandwiches, green olives, French fries, and grape juice. God, thinking about the tart taste of the grape juice, made her mouth water. Jesus, it sounded so good.
“You want me to see if they have grape juice?” he asked with a smirk as he watched her smack her lips.
She stared at him as if his question was preposterous. But the thought of drinking that grape juice made her change her look to pleadingly. He smiled and nodded as he got up from the table.
Oh, she needed that grape juice. She watched him talk to the waiter and he shook his head. Her heart sank and she felt incredibly silly for feeling so needy for something so small.
Mulder was gone from her sight for awhile and she felt so embarrassed that he must have left the restaurant searching for grape juice. No way he would find it, if the restaurant did not have any. Where would he even look in this hotel?
She looked around again and he came walking past the hostess stand. His hands were empty and she felt strangely like she was going to break down in tears. God damn.. this was so embarrassing.
He walked up to the table and stood beside her.
“Sit down. Please,” she said quietly, begging him as she reached for his hand.
“Wait,” he said, reaching behind him and pulling out a small bottle of fancy grape juice, apparently from his waistband, and setting it on the table.
“What?!” she exclaimed, grabbing for it.
“The wedding next door,” he explained, laughing as he sat down. “I figured someone over there had to want something nonalcoholic. Turns out, kids do, Scully. Who knew huh?” He smiled at her.
He took the bottle from her and opened it up. She drank her bubbly water down in three big gulps and handed him her glass. He chuckled as he poured it in and she grabbed it back.
The first sip of it hit her tongue and her eyes rolled back in her head. At that moment, someone would have had a hard time convincing her that sex was better than taking a drink of a liquid she craved so much. She drank it down in a few gulps and she sat back, fully satisfied, and no longer caring who thought what about her.
“Good?” he asked her, a laughing smile on his face. She got up out of her chair and leaned down and kissed him. Then again, her tongue lightly grazing his.
“Ahem..” A voice said to her right side.
The waiter was standing there with the plate of fries and the salad that came with her meal. She stood up and went back to her seat, grabbing the bottle of grape juice on her way.
She poured another glassful and kept her eyes on Mulder. He was watching her, stuck between desire and trying not to laugh. The waiter set her plate of salad down in front of her and put the fries in the middle of the table.
“Thank you,” Mulder said, his eyes never leaving Scully’s.
The waiter left, both of them smiling and then laughing. He grabbed a couple fries and she took a small drink before starting on her salad.
The rest of the meal passed uneventfully. They discussed what they had done that day and what the plan was for tomorrow. Scully told him about Annabelle bringing the gifts by tomorrow. She needed to come by at 9:00, before mass with her family. Mulder said he would be there and not to worry about it.
After they ate, and Scully finished the bottle of grape juice, the waiter asked if they wanted dessert. Scully declined and Mulder did as well. He paid the bill and they left the restaurant.
As they walked out, they heard the band playing a fast number and laughter coming from inside the wedding reception.
“You want to go crash a wedding, Scully?” Mulder asked her mischievously, taking her hand and tugging her toward the door.
“No!” she said, pulling on his hand. “It’s bad enough you somehow pilfered that bottle of grape juice. I mean, you know what that meant to me, but still. We can’t walk into someone’s wedding reception. Also, I’m not exactly inconspicuous here,” she added, motioning to her stomach.
“You look good. Better than good,” he told her, stroking her cheek. “But you’re right, Scully. It’s probably good we don’t head in there. All the attention would be on you and the bride would feel jealous. Best not to do that on her big day.”
“Mulder..” she said, but she could not stop her smile.
“And Scully, I didn’t pilfer the grape juice. I simply explained to a waiter that I had a very pregnant woman waiting for me and she needed grape juice. He said his wife just had a baby recently so he understood. Then he got it for me,” he told her, shrugging his shoulders.
His fingers moved to her hair, holding it as he stroked it down over her shoulder. They stared at one another before they both turned when they heard a slower song start. It was not the wedding band, but prerecorded music, but not a song she recognized.
Mulder extended his hand and she smiled as she took it. He pulled her close and they began to sway slowly. She took a deep breath and breathed in his scent. The aftershave he wore, but the Mulder scent she would recognize anywhere. She closed her eyes and relaxed into his embrace.
Oh, I always let you down You're shattered on the ground But still I find you there Next to me And oh, stupid things I do I'm far from good, it's true But still I find you Next to me
She missed the beginning of the song, but the chorus hit her square in the chest. It was as if someone was describing their life. No matter what happened, always next to each other. She listened to the next part of the song more carefully.
There's something about the way that you always see the pretty view Overlook the blooded mess, always lookin' effortless And still you, still you want me I got no innocence, faith ain't no privilege I am a deck of cards, vice or a game of hearts And still you, still you want me
She felt Mulder tighten his grip on her and she knew he too was listening to the words.
Oh, I always let you down You're shattered on the ground But still I find you there Next to me And oh, stupid things I do I'm far from good, it's true But still I find you Next to me
He pulled back and looked at her. He held her face, stroking her cheeks with his thumbs. They stared at each other. The words of the song seeming to speak directly to them.
So thank you for taking a chance on me I know it isn't easy But I hope to be worth it
Mulder leaned his forehead to hers, his hands sliding down her arms and onto her waist. They stood, swaying slightly to the music, holding onto one another. Speaking the best way they did, with no words. Relying on touch and looks to relay how they felt.
So thank you for taking a chance on me I know it isn't easy But I hope to be worth it
Oh, I always let you down You're shattered on the ground But still I find you there Next to me And oh, stupid things I do I'm far from good, it's true But still I find you Next to me
As the song ended and a new one began, he pulled her tighter and whispered his love for her. His thanks, his appreciation, and his apologies. She leaned back and held his face in her hands.
“No more apologies, Mulder. Forgiveness has been granted. I love you. So much,” she said quietly before she kissed him.
He pulled her close and held her to him. The new song was faster, but still they held each other and swayed slowly.
“Could I possibly interest you in walking me upstairs? Maybe ordering some dessert from room service?” she mumbled into his chest. He laughed and pulled back, staring at her as he touched her cheek again.
“I don’t need any dessert, but I would definitely be interested in seeing you safely to your room. Making sure you make it to bed without any trouble. Or.. maybe a little trouble,” he said, raising his eyebrows and winking at her.
“You chose wisely,” she said, grabbing his hand and walking to the elevators, as he laughed behind her. “I’ve got something for you to see when we get upstairs.”
She stopped at the bank of elevators, pushed the up button, and turned to him. She leaned in and he bent his head toward her.
“Not to completely spoil the surprise, but it’s something under my dress,” she whispered in his ear.
He gave a sharp intake of breath, straightening up as the elevator doors opened. He quickly escorted her inside, pushed her against the wall, and began kissing her as the doors closed behind them. The music from the wedding reception fell silent, his love for her the only music she needed to hear.

Love Story | A Jonah Marais Fanfic (PART 5B)
Requested by @xxghostnappaxx
A/N: The finale!!! I’ve enjoyed writing this fanfic so much!! Hope you have enjoyed reading this my love (and other people who have read it!) xx
Tumblr media
Today’s the day... I’m officially going to be Mrs. Marais!!!!! I honestly never thought that this day would come. Heck, I honestly never thought I’d be getting married to a member of a world famous band! It feels like a dream but it’s a reality and I’m just super excited!!! Little did I know that I would become best friends with the love of my life and his friends! Little did I know that the guy I styled was going to be the guy that I’ll be spending the rest of my life with! Oop! Here I go! I’m officially becoming Mrs. MaCayla Ciara Marias!
The final touches of makeup are set, the little flyaways in my hair are neatly tucked in and my dress is adjusted to make sure it floats off the ground like a princess as I walk down the aisle. The butterflies begin and the adrenaline kicks in. It feels like a dream but it’s actually a reality and I can’t believe it! I’m about to marry my best friend and the love of my life. This feeling is just so surreal and I’m so happy to be in this position!
I watch the boys walk down the aisle and stand in a line. I then watched my soon-to-be husband walk down. My god did he look handsome! My breath got caught in my throat. He just looked so good! I’m marrying that?! Oh my lord!! I then watch my girl friends walk down the aisle and they looked absolutely beautiful! I take a deep breath and walk to where the aisle starts. The nerves kick in and I start to feel sick. “Breathe, darling. You’re okay”, my dad whispers in my ear and kisses my cheek. “I’m right here”. I smile at my dad and thank him for reassuring me. The music sounds and I begin my walk down the aisle. I look at Jonah who’s sobbing which makes me well up.
I kiss my dad on the cheek and walk up to meet Jonah, who takes my hand and kisses it ever so gently. He gently pushes my veil over my head and his breath gets caught in his throat. “You’re so beautiful!” he whispers. “So handsome!” I whisper. The ceremony begins and shit just got real. It’s actually happening.
Despite the amount of times we had to stop due to sobbing from both Jonah and I, we managed to get through our vows. The rings get handed to us and with shaky hands, we exchanged rings. “I now pronounce you husband and wife!” echoed through the microphone and Jonah swept me off my feet and into a sweet and passionate kiss. Confetti and rose petals were thrown in the air and cheers and squeals were sent our way.
The reception, or as I like to call it, the after party, was so much fun! Everyone was dancing, singing and having a ball! The whole night was filled with so much love and joy and it just made Jonah and I feel so special. The music faded away and the MC tapped on the mic. “Could I get everyone off the dance floor except for the happily married couple?”
Everyone walks back to their tables and Jonah and I are left standing, hand in hand. “It is time for these two to have their first dance as a couple!” the MC says and everyone cheers. I then noticed Daniel, Jack, Zach and Corbyn walk on to the stage and sit in their seats. “Oh. My. God. They’re not!” I whisper to Jonah. “They are!” The boys start singing ‘What Am I’ and Jonah turns me around and pulls me into a warm and gentle embrace. We slowly start swaying and moving across the dance floor as the boys sing. I hear Jonah whispering his parts in my ear and I can’t help but smile.
The song finishes and the music starts again which makes everyone run up to the dance floor and the party starts. Everyone is singing, dancing, drinking and having so much fun. The ceremony was magical but this was a party! This was honestly the best night ever! And I spent it with the ones I adore and the love of my life who is now my husband.
LATER THAT NIGHT...
My mum stops at the driveway of the house and drops us off. “Thanks mum! Love you!” I say to my mum and I hop out of the car. “Thanks Mrs. Underwood!” the boys say and hop out of the car. We all walk in and head upstairs to get ready for bed. “Night guys!” I yell to the boys as we all head to our rooms. “Night!”
Jonah and I walk to our room and get ready for bed. “That was a blast!” I say. “Agreed!” he replies. I walk to the bathroom and wrap my arms around Jonah’s waist. “And I wouldn’t want to spend it any other way”. Jonah spins in my grasp and picks me up. I squeal as he picks me up and kisses me. “On a scale of 1-10, how tired are you?” he asks. I give him a confused look. “Um... 4. Why?” I ask and I see a smirk appear on his lips. He gently lays me on the bed and plants kisses across my jawline and neck. “Let’s have some fun, shall we?” he asks.
That night was spent touching, kissing and having some nice, passionate - you get where I’m going with this! Let’s just say that Jonah is great in bed!! Especially when he’s your husband!!!
And that is officially the end! I hope you enjoyed my lovely and I hope other people who have read this enjoyed too! It has been fun writing this fanfic and I hope you guys had fun reading it!
If you want a fanfic, hit up my asks and I’ll happily write it for you xx

PARTY ATMOSPHERE DESCRIPTION POST:
[Anatole’s haven is usually a rather quiet ten unit apartment building in downtown Los Angeles. He and Nigel live on the upper level, unit 3B (the unit with the fewest windows, naturally), where the red-headed ghoul is currently napping after suffering great jetlag after coming back to LA from visiting his mother. He has no idea the rest of the neighbors have all been paid to live at a luxurious hotel not far away for the next week, giving Anatole freedom to remove their personal belongings from their apartments and turn the entire building into a celebration of Nigel.
When one enters the building, there is an archway with a tall wrought iron gate that one needs a keycard to enter. Tonight one needs to to be on the guest list only. On either side of the archway are two doors, one being the landlord’s office and the other being the community laundry room. The landlord’s office has been converted into the coat/weapon check room while the laundry room is pretty much just storage for all the extra party supplies. Crossing the threshold into the inner courtyard of the apartment building, things are bright and colorful and almost psychedelic.
The courtyard has a few small trees, all of which are covered in Halloween streamers that look like jack o lantern and ghost faces. Between some of the threes are three long banquet tables with warmed blood bags on one end and human refreshments on the other. In the center is the grandiose birthday cake for Nigel surrounding by the various presents Anatole has already gotten for him and will soon be added to by the arriving guests.
All the different apartments have been transformed into different places for the guests to explore, they are as follows:
Apartment 1A: The entire unit has been turned into a kitty play palace! There are over a dozen cats on attendance tonight so Anatole wanted them to have their special place. Feel free to go and play with them!
Apartment 2A: Dancefloor 1. With a more upbeat and pop-like soundtrack playing. The walls have been sound proofed so it’s quiet on the outside but quite a party inside!
Apartment 3A: The chess parlor. Anatole has set up four different tables with antique carved ivory playing pieces. This is also where the imported German beer he ordered for @grunfeld-bach is being kept in ice buckets.
Apartment 4A: Dancefloor 2. With a more dark, industrial soundtrack playing with walls also soundproofed.
Apartment 5A: The board game parlor. There four tables with four chairs each set up with Monopoly, Yahtzee, Candyland, Clue, and many others ready to be played should a group want to!
Apartment 1B: The meat louge. A specially designed room for the Tzimisce art of fleshcrafting. Enter at your own risk. A special place made for @dreamofconstantinople
Apartment 2B: The stoner lounge. Temporarily ghouled persons with marijuana in their system are inside this apartment filled with the aroma of dank kush and microwave burritos amongst the installed gaming systems and televisions and lots of bean bag chairs.
Apartment 3B: Shhhh! Don’t wake Nigel until it’s time!
Apartments 4B and 5B: The haunted house. In the spirit of the season, Anatole has purchased literally every animatronic they had in stock at the local Spirit Halloween store and worked all day making it so please, please take a stroll through!]
Welcome to Nigel’s birthday party!
((OOC: Party is continuing into October 25th!
To make a post for the party simply do @ Anatole!))

Stiles is sick, not the deathly kind of sick, but the kind of sick where all you want to do is take a large dose of medcine and sleep through it, which is what Stiles plans to do. The pack think a few days without Stiles playing 'pack mom' will be fine, they might get some nice peace without him. Boy were they wrong.

Stiles clenched his fists, feeling empty and alone. He took a deep breath, shuddering shakily when he exhaled and his eyes began to sting and fill with moisture. He wiped at them angrily, he refused to cry. He breathed deeply to keep himself calm, to keep the overwhelming feeling of panic at bay, he didn't want to have a panic attack, not here, not out in the open like this. Derek was out there, he knew it, and he wasn't going to embarrass himself further in front of the werewolf. To make himself look needy. Stiles just let his shoulders slump with defeat and climbed into his jeep.
No one wants you.
He drove home silently, entered the house, and laid upon the bed. His felt his eyes droop heavily, his breathing evened out shortly after, and he fell asleep easily. He then entered a dream where the pain wasn't as sharp and he wasn't alone. He entered a dream where he was just a shadow to those that didn't matter and was someone important to a person that did.

There are new hunters in Beacon Hills, big whoop, no big deal, except they have shown an extremely sick interest in Stiles. Derek has assigned the betas to protect him but Stiles is becoming increasingly more interested in Derek coming over instead. Sterek.

"Peter Hale and Kate Argent laid dead in the earth. Derek became the Alpha, stripping Peter of his powers. Erica Reyes, Vernon Boyd, Jackson Whittemore, and Isaac Lahey were now werewolves. Derek seemed to be building a brand new Pack for Beacon Hills. Scott’s control was waning, with no Alpha or girlfriend to anchor him.Life couldn’t get worse for Stiles Stilinksi."
After taking the bite in order to help Scott find an anchor after Peter's death, Stiles finds himself as the newest member of Derek Hale's Pack.
While trying to bind together the group of misfits, each suffering from their own brand of despair, Stiles becomes more to the Pack than just another werewolf. He becomes the heart of the pack and the Right Hand of the Alpha himself, with all the power and responsibilities that come with it.
Yet, as Stiles navigates the complexities of living the everyday life of a werewolf, he finds himself as the target of a force greater than he could have ever imagined. A force, unknowingly to him, responsible for the atrocities not only to his own family but to the family of his newfound Mate.
Like hell would Stiles let that stand.

(29/29 I 94,918 I Explicit I Sterek)
Stiles is used to being second tier in everyone's life. How easily people forget him and move on to bigger and better things. Used to always being in someone's shadow. Leave it to Derek Hale to shatter those expectations.

Monday, Thirty Third Week in Ordinary Time
  (Liturgical Colour: Green)
       First Reading
Revelation 1:1-4; 2:1-5
Realize how far you have fallen and repent.
The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him, to show his servants what must happen soon. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who gives witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ by reporting what he saw. Blessed is the one who reads aloud and blessed are those who listen to this prophetic message and heed what is written in it, for the appointed time is near.
John, to the seven churches in Asia: grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne.
I heard the Lord saying to me: “To the angel of the Church in Ephesus, write this:
“‘The one who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks in the midst of the seven gold lampstands says this: “I know your works, your labor, and your endurance, and that you cannot tolerate the wicked; you have tested those who call themselves Apostles but are not, and discovered that they are impostors. Moreover, you have endurance and have suffered for my name, and you have not grown weary. Yet I hold this against you: you have lost the love you had at first. Realize how far you have fallen. Repent, and do the works you did at first. Otherwise, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.”’”
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
   Responsorial Psalm
Psalm 1:1-2, 3, 4 and 6
R/ Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.
Blessed the man who follows not
 the counsel of the wicked
Nor walks in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the company of the insolent,
But delights in the law of the Lord
and meditates on his law day and night.
R/ Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.
He is like a tree
 planted near running water,
That yields its fruit in due season,
 and whose leaves never fade.
 Whatever he does, prospers.
R/ Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.
Not so the wicked, not so;
they are like chaff which the wind drives away.
For the Lord watches over the way of the just,
but the way of the wicked vanishes.
R/Those who are victorious I will feed from the tree of life.

John 8:12
Alleluia, alleluia.
I am the light of the world, says the Lord;
whoever follows me will have the light of life.

    Gospel
Luke 18:35-43
What do you want me to do for you? Lord, please let me see.
As Jesus approached Jericho a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging, and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening. They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” He shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!” The people walking in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent, but he kept calling out all the more, “Son of David, have pity on me!” Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him; and when he came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” He replied, “Lord, please let me see.” Jesus told him, “Have sight; your faith has saved you.” He immediately received his sight and followed him, giving glory to God. When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God.

    First Reading
Isaiah 58:6-11
Sharing your bread with the hungry.
Thus says the Lord:
This is the fasting that I wish:
 releasing those bound unjustly,
 untying the thongs of the yoke;
Setting free the oppressed,
 breaking every yoke;
Sharing your bread with the hungry,
 sheltering the oppressed and the homeless;
Clothing the naked when you see them,
and not turning your back on your own.
Then your light shall break forth like the dawn,
 and your wound shall quickly be healed;
Your vindication shall go before you,
and the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer,
you shall cry for help, and he will say: Here I am!
If you remove from your midst oppression,
 false accusation and malicious speech;
If you bestow your bread on the hungry
 and satisfy the afflicted;
Then light shall rise for you in darkness,
 and the gloom shall become for you like midday;
Then the Lord will guide you always
and give you plenty even on the parched land.
He will renew your strength,
and you shall be like a watered garden,
like a spring whose water never fails.

I give you a new commandment:
love one another as I have loved you.

    Gospel
John 15:9-17
You are my friends if you do what I command you.
Jesus said to his disciples: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.
“I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father. It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you. This I command you: love one another.”

    First Reading
Ephesians 3:14-19
To know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge.
Brothers and sisters: I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that he may grant you in accord with the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner self, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the holy ones what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
   Responsorial Psalm
Psalm 23:1b-3a, 4, 5, 6
The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
 In verdant pastures he gives me repose;
Beside restful waters he leads me;
 he refreshes my soul.
The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
Even though I walk in the dark valley
I fear no evil; for you are at my side
With your rod and your staff
 that give me courage.
The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
You spread the table before me
 in the sight of my foes;
You anoint my head with oil;
 my cup overflows.
The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
Only goodness and kindness follow me
 all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
 for years to come.
The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
    Gospel Acclamation
John 15:9b, 5b
Alleluia, alleluia.
Remain in my love, says the Lord;
whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit.
Alleluia, alleluia.
    Gospel
John 15:1-8
He who remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit.
Jesus said to his disciples: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower. He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and every one that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit.

And these stories always made me feel better! Just know that every body type is beautiful! Also, a Tony Stark x PlusSized!Reader is coming out tomorrow! The story was a little late, but I wanted to make sure it was good! Once again, thank you all for being patient! Side Note, I never include protection when I write, but just know that birth control is usually involved. But keep it, safe folks.
Disclaimer: I do not own Star Wars or the characters. Also, I do not own this GIF, found on GIPHY
It was a beautiful autumn day, at least to you. The sky was filled with dark storm clouds, there was an amazing breeze, and best of all; the leaves were vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and brown. You had gotten lucky with your seat in the class. Not only was it at the very front, close to the professor’s desk, but it also happened to be beside a window, with the best view of campus.
Pitter Patter Pitter Patter
The sound of rain caused you to tear your eyes from your professor, and over to the window. Autumn was simply the best, and days like this made you want to go back to your apartment and watch some Netflix.
“Hey, can you remind me to check out that book from the library?” The sound of your best friend interrupted you, and you turned your head to look over at her.
“Of course, Ahsoka, what would you do without me?” You teased, offering her a sly grin. Ahsoka had been your roommate your freshman and sophomore years, and the two of you had developed a bond like no other. Even now, she had a key to your own apartment, as you did hers. Ahsoka was to thank for you getting to your Senior Year, so close to finally finishing your degree. She was the one who helped push you through. It also worked out since the two of you were majoring in the same thing, so you shared similar classes.
“Professor Kenobi!” A girl called out, rolling your eyes as the girl behind you leaned in closer.
It was no secret that the Professor was a seriously handsome man. Even you had a hard time not fantasizing about all of the things you would want to do with him. Though the sound of your classmate snapped you back to reality.
It wasn’t as if you were an insecure girl. You had your low self-esteem moments, but what girl didn’t? You had a thick body type, and you were constantly bullied as a kid for it. As you grew older you began to love yourself and your body, but you had your moments. Especially now. When someone so beautiful was oh so obviously flirting with the sophisticated looking man.
Obviously, Professor-Student relationships weren’t allowed, but you could dream, couldn’t you?
“Yes, Miss Reeves?” He asked, looking up from his book, moving his glasses to the top of his head. For some reason, you just couldn’t get the sight of him intimately out of your head.
"So, our report for The Handmaid's Tale is due next Friday, correct?" Gabby asked, once again, causing you to roll your eyes.
If she had been listening than she would have known it was actually due two Fridays from now.
"The next Friday, but I will accept papers early. Make sure you really leave in-depth reports. I want to know your thoughts about the dystopian world, and how it is more realistic than some would think."
Easy enough. You read that book so many times and binged the series like crazy on Hulu. It was definitely going to be an easy A for you.
“Well, with that, I will let you go a little early! I will be here for a bit, so feel free to come to my desk if you need help with your report.” Obi-Wan said, sitting on his desk and smiling at the class. Man, not only was he good looking, but he had a sexy voice.
“Hey, I need to see if this outline is okay? Will you stay with me?” Ahsoka asked as she pulled out her folder from her bag.
“Yeah, I can. My shift doesn’t start until this evening, so I have time to kill.” You informed her, zipping your bag and pulling it over your shoulders.
Of course, the line to talk to him was long, mostly filled with people who needed help, while others were there just to flirt.
As Ahsoka spoke to him, you tried your hardest not to look at him for too long, but it was hard. You had never felt this type of attraction to any man before, and you couldn’t explain it.
"Miss Y/L/N, would you mind? I would like to talk to you." He said before you and Ahsoka could get out of there. You nodded your head at Ahsoka, telling her to go ahead, you would be fine.
"Yes, sir?" You questioned, raising your eyebrow as placed his books in his bag.
“It’s nothing serious, in fact, it is good news. I just wanted to congratulate you. You have the highest grade in my classes, and I know you have a real passion for literature. I wanted to see if you would want to become my aide. I need some help catching up with grading and tutoring, and you were the first person I thought of.”
You tried your damn hardest to not blush as he spoke to you, but you couldn’t help it.
“I would love to, thank you!” You said beaming, smiling as slid a paper and pen over to you.
“That’s great! Could you write down your number? I will get in touch about when you are available.” You were more than willing to give him your number, and as you handed him the paper your hands brushed against his and lingered far longer than they should have.
As soon as you exited the classroom you were filling Ahsoka in on all of the details. Of course, she didn’t know about your crush on Obi-Wan Kenobi, but then again, you tried to keep it a secret from even yourself.
---
It had been two days and still no text or call, though you were only mildly disappointed. Between midterms and your shift at the campus café, you barely had time to think. As you were studying for a midterm at the library, Ahsoka delivered a warm chai latte and some freshly baked sugar cookies.
“Here, to get you through the next couple hours! Are we still on for dinner at Chilis tonight?” She asked, setting the stuff down on your table.
"Oh my god, you are an angel! And of course! It's a tradition to spend our Saturday nights there. Want to sit?" You asked, finally tearing your eyes from the computer.
"No, I have to get to the store because someone called in. So, I am filling in for a couple of hours." Ahsoka informed you with a pout.
“Awww, well good luck! See you later!” You said, waving her off.
As soon as you were about to get back to your studying, your phone vibrated. Seeing who it was, it felt as if your heart had skipped a beat.
‘Hey, it’s me, Professor Kenobi. Just wanted to see if you were available to grade some papers this afternoon. I know it’s a Saturday and last minute but let me know! Thank you.’
‘Good morning. Of course, I am available.’
‘Great! Would it be okay if we graded at your place? I am doing some remodeling at my house, so it isn’t very peaceful or quiet.’
‘Yes, that will be fine. My apartment is the Grove apartments close to campus, number 5B.’
‘That works out, thanks again.’
It didn’t take you long before you packed up your materials and rushed back to your apartment. You definitely couldn’t let it look messy. Crush or no crush, it had to look nice.
As soon as you got home you straightened up. Luckily you didn’t live like a slob, so it was relatively easy. Your small black cat protested though, angrily meowing as you vacuumed the floor.
“Oh, hush Salem, it’s fine.”
You were quick to shower and change, keeping your look very professional. You wanted to look cute, but not like you were trying too hard. Although you knew nothing would come from this. As soon as you poured some homemade chai lattes, you heard a knock on the door.
"Hey, Professor Kenobi! Come in!" You greeted, opening the door.
“Please, just Obi-Wan or even Obi right now. No need to be so formal Y/N. It smells nice in here.” He commented, admiring your apartment. “And you have a cat, he’s cute! What’s his name?” Obi-Wan smiled, leaning over to scratch his head.
"Thank you, I made some chai lattes. I wasn't sure if you liked them, but they are one of my favorite things to drink. And his name is Salem. Unoriginal, I know. But it honestly fits him." You say, placing the two mugs that were full on the coffee table in front of the couch. You gestured for him to sit and to put the papers down.
Nervous couldn’t even begin to describe how you were feeling. However, it also felt natural and nice.
“No, I like that. Salem is a good name. And no worries, chai lattes are my favorite too.” He said, drinking a sip. “It’s very delicious!” Obi-Wan exclaimed, before handing you a stack of assignments and a pen. “The answer sheet is in there, and if you have any questions let me know.”
“Would it be okay if I put on a show? Netflix helps me focus.”
“Only if it’s Friends. I always watch that when I grade.”
“Really? That’s funny, I have Friends on in the background 99 percent of the time.” You said with a laugh, quickly turning your favorite sitcom on.
It really was odd, how things just seemed to fit together between you two. Conversation flowed easily, and you were surprised to find out he wasn’t too much older than you were. It was his first year as a professor and were surprised when he said he finished college as quick as he could.
It was starting to get dark, and before you knew it time had slipped away. You sent a quick text to Ahsoka, saying you weren’t feeling good and to reschedule for brunch tomorrow. You felt bad, but you knew you would make it up.
“Wow, I am impressed Y/N! We actually got through the stack I brought. I knew I should have brought more.” He joked, causing you to laugh. “But if I am being honest, I really wanted to have a different conversation. You see, I sort of know about your feelings for me.” As soon as he said that you felt as if you would actually get sick. "And I know that it's against the policy, but I have feelings for you as well. I know we can't do much until after the semester, but-."
You didn’t even give him time to finish. Your lips were against his, and you near moaned as he wrapped his arms against your soft body.
"Damn Y/N," Obi-Wan said with a grin, pulling away to catch his breath.
“I’m sorry. I just couldn’t help myself. I understand if you want to quit.” You began, but this time he was hushing you with a kiss.
“Let’s just enjoy this. We’re just two people with mutual feelings.” His kiss tastes like chai spice, and he smelled like books and a familiar scent of cologne. It was intoxicating, and you were quickly wrapped up in your arousal.
Everything was happening so fast, and it didn’t take long before you were both in the bedroom, taking each other’s clothes off. As he went to remove your blouse, you shook your head, nervous at first.
“Come on, it’s okay. I think you are fucking beautiful. I love your body, and I definitely want to see it. Would that be okay?” He asked gently, kissing as your neck.
A shiver ran down your back as you nodded, and he gently removed your blouse and bra. “See baby? You are gorgeous. I love this. Let me take care of you.” He whispered, easing you onto the bed and nestling himself between your legs.
He made quick work, running his tongue on your clit softly, teasing you with a finger. "Obi-Wan." You moaned, gripping the sheets beneath you. With every moan, Obi-Wan quickened his pace, until he had three fingers working your pussy, and his tongue lapping at your clit. It was all so much, so good, and you screamed out his name as your orgasm pulsed through your body. "Oh, my goodness, that was amazing." You breathed out, causing him to chuckle.
With a quick transition, Obi-Wan was laying on his back, his cock already rock hard. You were about to protest, never have ridden before, and not wanting to hurt him. However, you were both filled with so much lust, you wanted to please him.
"Come here, baby." He moaned, easing you on his cock. Your hips swayed slowly, his hands traveling all over your body. "You are the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen! I love this." He moaned, one hand grasping at your tit, the other on your waist to help speed you up. Despite your initial thoughts of being on top, you were more than enjoying this. His cock felt so good, and you loved the way he loved on your body.
With every move of your hips, you knew he was getting closer, and you relished in that. You loved that you were the one driving him crazy, getting him closer to his own pleasure. “Fuck, Y/N. I am about to cum.” Obi-Wan moaned, holding on to you tightly as he began to fill you up.
“Wow.” You both panted out, smiling at each other. “That was amazing.” You say, before moving so you both could get clean.
"It was more than amazing," Obi-Wan told you, kissing your forehead as the two of you freshened up.
"We are definitely going to have to keep this thing going in secret. I don't think I could wait until the break to have you again." He said with a laugh, although you couldn't agree more. You felt a real connection with him, and the sex was out of this world.
"Well, you are more than welcome to watch Friends with me. I have some leftover Chinese." You said, pulling on an oversized sweater.
"That would be perfect," Obi-Wan commented, pulling you in close giving you another soft kiss on your lips. "You are perfect." He complimented, wrapping his arms around you.

If I Could See Your Face Once More (2/6)
Summary: This time, there’s no celebration at Granny’s when the latest crisis has been resolved. Instead, they’re left to deal with the body of Killian Jones. A 5B canon divergence where Killian dies in Camelot, never becoming a Dark One. Rated T for language. Also on AO3. ~3.9K. Chapter 1
A/N: And here’s my second @csmarchmadness contribution! Thanks again to @xemmaloveskillianx for organizing the event, as well as @snidgetsafan for her excellent beta services (and generally being an awesome person).
On top of that, an extra thanks to all of you who read the first part! The fantastic response to this absolutely warms my heart. The next chapter of this will be posted on the 24th, and then after that we’ll get a bit more loosey-goosey. I’m almost done writing this thing, guys - just need to get through half of two chapters!
Tagging: @thejollyroger-writer, @profdanglaisstuff, @captainsjedi, @ultraluckycatnd, @superchocovian, @snowbellewells, @killianjones4ever82, @wellhellotragic. Shoot me a message if you want to be added to the list!
Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy!
“I’m about sixteen weeks along,” she tells him, sitting next to him on the master bed, staring at the comforter. He had barely allowed her to clean off the rest of the blood and wrestle him into clean clothes before dragging her down next to him. Bandages and stitches and ice packs can wait. “Second trimester, though barely, but chance of miscarriage goes down substantially so we don’t have to worry about that.”
She’s making it all sound so clinical, like she’s trying not to force him to form emotions about the situation. But… bloody hell, Emma’s expecting. A child. His child. He knows she’s used to people not sticking around, but it’s impossible for him not to fall in love with the little one, now that he knows they exist. It’s hard to put that into words though, so he just slips his arm around her waist and pull her closer into him. “How long have you known?” he asks quietly.
“About two months.” She pauses. “Regina and I found a spell that we thought would send the Camelot folks back – didn’t work, by the way, they’re still hanging around and causing trouble – and I know I wasn’t getting nearly enough sleep but I guess I must not have eaten that day either because I passed out. I can’t really use my magic right now, it turns out, at least not in large doses, or it’ll completely exhaust me; my magic is all tied up with the baby right now, or… something. I don’t fully understand it. Anyway, Regina brought me back around, but insisted I go get checked out at the hospital. They ran some tests, and that’s how I found out about the bean.”
He grins, even if it aggravates his black eye. “The bean?”
She blushes. “Uh… yeah. Well, I felt kinda bad thinking about the kiddo as an it, and ‘little bean’ kinda stuck.”
“Well I think it’s very cute.” Suddenly, the other part of that story sinks in. “So Regina knows?”
Emma nods.
“Who else?”
“Just Regina. I needed a bit of time to come around to the idea, but by the time I was ready to start telling people, Henry was deep into his research and determined to get you back, and I just thought… if I was going to start telling people, if at all possible, I wanted the next person to be you. Thankfully, Henry had found a way down here by the time I started showing, so it’s just been a lot of oversized sweaters for the last two weeks. At least it’s January in Maine, so it doesn’t really look unusual.”
“Are you doing ok? Feeling alright?”
“Yeah, the morning sickness has mostly gone away, though it wasn’t as bad as with Henry. Cravings are starting to kick in. Emotions are all over the place, which has been… fun.”
He smirks into her hair as he presses a kiss to the side of her head. “Thought I saw you tearing up back there, in the cavern.”
“Shut up,” she mumbles back.
“And the little one – the bean’s alright?”
She smiles back at him and pulls his hand over to her stomach and its barely-there bump. “Yeah. The bean’s great. Good strong heartbeat. Can’t feel movement yet, but I should be able to in another few weeks. I’ve got the sonogram picture in my phone, I’ll show it to you later if I find where I set it down.”
After the day he’s had (hell, the weeks and months he’s had), the life-changing information he’s been given, it’s his turn to tear up as he pulls Emma down with him to lay across the bed. “Thank you”, he barely manages to whisper – whether for saving him, for coming for him in the first place, or for this miraculous and unexpected gift, he can’t honestly say, but Emma seems to understand anyways. She nods into his shoulder and snuggles in as close as she can manage with his injuries as they both doze off.
And Killian Jones finds the best sleep he’s ever had in the Victorian house that has never quite been a home until this night.
------
They attempt to tell Emma’s – their family the next morning, but as it turns out, no one is really surprised. Snow had apparently put the pieces together several weeks ago, and true to form, couldn’t resist telling apparently everyone who would listen. Frankly, Killian is shocked that Emma hadn’t realized everyone knew sooner – the town of Storybrooke isn’t known for its subtlety.
(She does grumble out an “I guess that’s why Granny’s been trying to force vegetables down my throat”, much to his amusement.)
Snow is thrilled, Henry excited, and Dave seemingly stuck at something resembling the denial stage of grief (“Oh, he’ll come around,” Snow tries to reassure Killian. “He just doesn’t want to accept that you and Emma… you know.”). In the end, it seems like Liam is the only one caught off guard.
And boy, is he ever off guard.
Killian couldn’t help but notice a weird tension between Emma and his brother when they initially retrieved him, but he originally wrote it off as Liam feeling uncomfortable with finding his place in the strange new family his little brother had collected. That doesn’t seem to be the case though; he damn near sweeps Belle and the lady Snow off their feet with elaborate bows and kisses over their hands, is getting along with Dave just as well as Killian always feared (no, that funny feeling is not jealousy, thank you very much), and seems tickled pink that Henry calls him “Uncle Liam”.
But Emma…
Well, it becomes painfully, capital letter obvious that Liam Jones, beloved brother and friend to all, Does Not Like Emma Swan.
After several uncomfortable days of Emma trying to avoid Liam at all costs, Liam ignoring Swan whenever possible, and Regina developing a habit of viciously glaring at the elder Jones whenever he tries to act friendly towards the former Evil Queen, it all comes to a head when Killian enters the office of his house where both Emma and his brother have found themselves holed up just to find Emma leaving, nearly in tears.
“Hey, hey, hey,” he stops her. “What’s the matter?”
She tries to smile, even if she looks like she might fall apart at any moment. “Nothing to worry about. Just… upset that we haven’t found a way out of here yet.”
Now, Killian may not have his Swan’s lie detector, but she’s enough of an open book that he can see she’s not telling him everything. “Are you sure?”
She nods. “Yep. Perfectly fine. I’ll be upstairs.” And if her brisk tone wasn’t already enough of a red flag, she practically flees the room like some kind of hellhound is chasing her.
He immediately turns back to Liam, who’s been watching the entire exchange with a look Killian doesn’t want to place. “What have you done?”
Liam sputters and tries to deflect. “Excuse me? Why would you assume I had anything to do with that little display?”
“Well, when the mother of my child comes out of this room after having spent time with you, about to cry, I tend to put two and two together. So what happened?”
“Sure it isn’t just hormones? Pregnant women cry a lot, as I understand.” “Not this one, not where others can see. I’m only going to ask one more time – what the hell did you do?”
Liam sighs, and Killian already knows he isn’t going to like whatever his brother has to say. “Well, Miss Swan asked why I didn’t like her. I simply answered her question.”
“Stop beating around the bush, Liam, what did you tell her to leave her so upset?”
Liam at least has the decency to act hesitant to respond. “I simply told her it wasn’t a personal dislike, she just wasn’t nearly good enough for you. And I struggled to see how she had tricked not only yourself, but your friends into thinking so.”
Killian loves his brother, but were it anyone else saying those vile words, he’d sock them in the face. “Why the hell would you say that?” he shoots back, starting to raise his voice.
“Oh, please, Killy, I’ve been watching the Captain’s log - not to mention, you told me the story yourself. She’s left you for dead to be eaten by a giant, imprisoned you enough times I lost count, seems to have been incredibly cold to you even after you started courting her. Must I justify this?”
“Must I remind you where I was before her? I was living for some twisted idea of vengeance! I was ready to die for that! And she saved me!”
“I have trouble believing you were that bad in the first place, but even if you were, she’s not the saint you seem to think she is. Or have you forgotten she’s a thief?”
“Was a thief. And what of all the things we had to do to survive, Liam, the snatches of food we’d swipe to not starve to death? She’s been abandoned, Liam, never had anyone, had to bite and scratch her way through life and do whatever she had to in order to survive.”
“But some of that was by choice, wasn’t it? How do you even know she won’t give up this child too? Henry filled me in about how she let him go, some nonsense about ‘best chances’. How can you be with a woman who abandoned her son, after what Father did to us?”
That’s the final straw, really. Killian knows his voice is raised far higher that it should be, but he can’t bring himself to care. “Oh, so you heard that whole story then? About how she was in jail because the man she loved set her up for his crime – oh, and that’s not just me saying that, the bastard admitted to it - told me himself. Now, Emma likes to tell people she was eighteen when she had the lad, but I can tell you, when we celebrated her 31st birthday a few months ago, Henry had already been 13 for several weeks. So she was only 17 bloody years old, in jail, chained to a hospital bed in case she tried to stage some wild escape in the middle of labor, I suppose. Hadn’t finished her education, so no chance of securing employment upon her release. No family to take the babe. Never had anyone to selflessly love her, let alone any parents, so didn’t even know where to start with being a mother. But yes, I can see where you might think it was a crock of shit that she gave him up for adoption so he might have his best chance, or at least a damn better chance than she got.”
That outburst, at least, seems to shut Liam up for the moment.
“Now, I’ve got an amazing woman with spectacular trust and abandonment and self-worth issues, who you just told wasn’t possibly good enough for me, waiting upstairs. I trust you can see yourself out.”
He can’t even find it within himself to wait and see if his brother leaves.
------
He finds Emma upstairs in the nursery, appropriately enough, with tears running down her face, and he knows immediately that she’s heard every word.
“I’m sorry I made you fight with your brother,” she whispers.
He shakes his head. “He’s being an arse. I should be the one apologizing to you, for not noticing earlier how he was treating you. And that you had to hear what was just said.”
She pauses, apparently fighting back tears. “I… I know I probably don’t deserve you and how much you love me, and if you decide you’d rather move on with Liam I’ll have to be okay with that, but… I spent three months without you, Killian. And I was miserable. I’d deal if I had to, but I don’t ever want to go through that again.”
Killian pulls her to him with those words, closer than he ever thought possible, to try and make his words have the greatest impact. “Oh love, I’ll never leave you again if I can possibly help it.”
(He only hopes that’s a promise he can finally keep.)
------
Regina decides the next day that he’s healed enough to attempt to split Emma’s heart. It warrants a lot of protesting on his part, worries not only about Emma’s safety but the bean’s too, but Emma’s sheer confidence that this will work finally wins him over. After all, when that means she believes them to be true love, who is he to argue?
So he lets Regina reach into Emma’s chest, all for him, only for her to be blasted back.
It’s not going to work.
------
Of course, it’s not simply a matter of them not being True Love – the verdict is still out on that – it’s something far worse. It’s, instead, a matter of Hades carving Emma’s and Regina’s and Snow’s names onto headstones, trapping them in the Underworld and getting his revenge for their steady work of sending souls to a better place (because of course this group of heroes has been up to their old redemptive tricks, even down here).
However, the Charmings have never been accused of being quitters, and a new plan is concocted quickly. Henry already has the pen in his possession, thanks to the machinations of the house; there’s no reason there shouldn’t be a storybook down here too, and if they can find it, perhaps Henry can use his author powers to write them a way out of the Underworld. Even Liam admits that the plan has merit, citing rumors circulating of a book with the power to defeat Hades, once and for all.
Killian can’t help but feel guilty about the whole thing. After all, none of them would be here, now cursed to remain so, if they hadn’t come to rescue him - hell, if he hadn’t gotten in the way of Arthur’s sword in the first place.
“This is all my fault,” he laments to Emma. “You should never have come after me. You shouldn’t be here.”
“Hey, none of that,” Emma tries to soothe. “You’re not the one responsible for our names. Hades did that. And we all came of our own choice, even Henry. Especially Henry. You know that. He threatened to find his own way here if we didn’t take him with us.”
“That doesn’t erase the fact that you’re here - that you, and Henry, and the baby, and all the rest of our family are in danger, all because you’re trying to save me. That doesn’t keep it from lying heavy on my conscience.”
“Would you do the same thing for us?”
Killian stares at her like she’s grown a second head. What kind of absurd question is that? “Would I — of course I would, Emma. In a heartbeat.”
“Okay, well, that’s exactly what we’re doing here.” Emma softens suddenly, reaching up to smooth a gentle hand along his cheek. “I know you think you’re the most expendable, Killian, but not to us. We’re here because we don’t want to experience life without you any longer, and at a certain point you’re going to have to loosen your grip on the wheel and accept it, Captain. None of this is your fault.”
The doubt and guilt still niggle at the back of Killian’s mind, but it’s so much more pleasant to embrace Emma’s words instead, so he gives into the temptation and drops a gentle kiss of silent thanks on her lips.
Apart from all that, Liam has been acting distant all day, and on a certain level, Killian understands. He and Liam were never the type of brothers to fight much, circumstances bringing them much closer than most. He’s uncomfortable too, through the sharp anger he still feels, and doesn’t relish being around Liam right now either. But when he joins the rest of the group at the sorcerer’s mansion after checking on the bar, Liam is acting even stranger. Killian can’t help but wonder what’s happened, or if his brother is just feeling guilty about the things he said about Emma, but there’s no time to address the issue right now. The mansion is positively filled with books, and each one must be checked to make sure it’s not what they’re looking for.
He gets truly suspicious when Liam, of all people, finds the book, only for Henry to discover that it’s missing crucial pages. As Liam excuses himself, supposedly to continue the search, Killian follows him, only to discover Liam tossing something that looks suspiciously like paper into a well.
Before Killian can even muster up an accusation, Liam turns around with an apologetic look on his face.
“I’m sorry, Killian, but I promise this is necessary.”
And then everything goes black.
------
He comes to, propped against the stone wall of a cave, with Liam watching over him. Killian forces himself back to his feet as soon as he’s fully awake, determined to find a way out.
“What the hell Liam? What did you do with the pages, and what the hell are we doing here?”
“I had to, Killian!” Liam protests. “It was the only way.”
“The only way for what?”
The look on Liam’s face now is undeniably panic, as he starts pacing back and forth.
“I made a deal with Hades.”
“You did what?”
“It was the only way, Killian! He’s locking things down here, not letting anyone move on. If I got rid of the pages, he’d let us move on, no opposition.”
If Killian was angry before, he’s furious now. “I don’t want to go, Liam! I thought I made that clear, did it not sink into that thick skull?”
“Killian, please, this is for the best. I’m just looking out for you.”
He loves Liam, but it’s like centuries of frustration boil over in a moment. “You’re always telling me what’s best for me, Liam, don’t I get a say in my own life? I managed nearly three hundred years without you, and you still don’t trust me to make my own decisions. You’ve never really trusted me though, have you? I’m sure I gave you reasons not to over the years, with the drinking and the gambling and generally being the younger brother, but Gods, Liam, it still hurts that you trusted your bloody monarch over your own brother, and died because of it. I am begging you – believe me, just this once, when I say that I know what is best for me. Even if their wild plans don’t succeed, I will do anything to spend longer with Emma and Henry and my child. And that’s what’s best for me right now.”
It hurts, walking away from his brother in a rage for the second time in as many days. Killian only hopes Liam doesn’t choose this moment to cross over, leaving him in anger and without any resolution. But on this matter, Killian has to draw a line in the sand. It’s time he stops viewing Liam as a god-like figure who can do no wrong, stop letting Liam control his life and his shadow guilt Killian even from beyond the grave.
He’s got a family to get back to.
------
When he finds Emma again, back at their house, she’s in a full-scale panic that Hades had imprisoned him again, or worse, that he had left for the Great Beyond without saying goodbye. Killian can feel her physically relax as he gathers her in his arms, planting a kiss on her forehead and murmuring “I’m not going anywhere, love.”
Liam slinks back some hours later, apologies on his lips, as if that will make it all better. Unfortunately for him, Killian’s not yet ready to talk, to forgive. That will come later; he still loves his brother unconditionally, but it’s stopped being a blind love, one in which he refuses to see any flaws, and has turned into something more painful, if ultimately more healthy: seeing his brother as a human being that makes mistakes, rather than some god on a pedestal.
Liam is less understanding about the matter, resulting in something of a spat between the two brothers, the elder Jones seemingly not understanding that this issue isn’t something to be glossed over and easily resolved.
“I already apologized, Killian,” he snaps. “What more do you want from me?”
“I don’t know,” Killian replies quietly, calmly, coldly. “But right now, I just want you to leave.”
It’s easily the harshest fight they’ve ever had, and Liam leaves without another word, stalking to the front door and all but slamming it. Killian isn’t comfortable with the way they’re leaving things, per se, but he’s not ready to just let bygones be bygones either, so this is perhaps the best he can hope for.
Killian may have displayed his anger earlier, but it’s later that night, in bed with Emma, that he finally lets the sorrow and disappointment reign.
“I don’t understand,” he laments, head resting just below her breasts. “How could he do that? How could he even think it?
“I don’t know, babe,” Emma soothes as best she can. Her hand slips through his hair, scratching along his scalp and calming Killian more than her words do.
“He was always my hero, you know?” He says. “Liam always knew best, was always so sure of himself, always in charge, and I accepted that. He’s my brother. But gods, it’s been almost three hundred years. I’ve learned what’s best for me, how to make my own decisions. I’ve been grateful to have this extra time with him, but… Gods above, how could he think that abandoning any hope of resurrection, abandoning you and Henry and the babe, could be what was best for me? What happened to him?”
“He’s been down here a really long time. Who knows what that can do to a person. But maybe,” she suggests gently, “maybe you’ve just grown up. So to speak. I know Liam is your hero, but he’s also just a man. Which usually means he’s not as perfect as you remember. Maybe… maybe after everything you’ve been through since you last saw him , you’ve both changed. Now it’s easier to see him without the haze. Rose colored glasses? Is that the term?”
Killian manages a watery chuckle against her stomach before stretching up to drop a kiss on the underside of Emma’s jaw. “Aye, that’s the term. You’re probably right,” he admits as he curls back around her side, stretching his arm across her abdomen where their little one grows.
“I’m sorry you had to take them off,” Emma whispers into the darkness.
Killian swallows heavily, forcing the fresh emotion back down. “So am I.”
He’s still here, Killian reminds himself as he holds Emma closer within his arms. Despite it all, he’s still here, and he has no intention of letting go.

Long live the King...
Author’s notes | SPOILER ALERT – SPOILERS FROM EPISODE 16 OF VIKINGS SEASON 5B! I couldn’t avoid this. It was such a horrid scene that I just couldn’t avoid writing for him immediately. I never liked Aethelred, the girls are here to confirm, I don’t write for the Saxons very well and usually, I make them play the villains. Aethelred is usually the bad stupid boyfriend in my Modern Vikings AUs, or the Angry Saxon just like his father was, but man, I was growing to love this boy after the way he saved his brother at the battlefield. I was growing to understand this boy’s sadness since – in a friend’s words – “he’s the Sigurd from the Saxons”. And like Sigurd, he ended up too soon, in a horrid death that he didn’t deserve by the hands of a mother who neglected him until the last moment. So as Sigurd, he deserved a better end. So as Mads, Sigurd, Margrethe… He earned this better end in my hands. Universe | Vikings Pairing | Aethelred x Reader Info | Vikings AU, Based on episode 16 of Vikings Season 5B Words | 2138 ⁑ Warnings: ANGST, Major Character’s Death, mentions of murder and betrayal.
Tumblr media
You loved him.
Since you were a child and your mother were a servant in the castle where you were now working in her place, you saw him around his father, learning, playing with his brother even when his mother was so careful about precious Alfred.
It wasn’t the pearl in the eyes queen the jewel of that castle in your eyes.
Prince Aethelred was strong and fierce, even he was just learning how to be a warrior. But he was already shining in his armor like a knight to your attentive eyes, hidden behind the pilasters, watching his training.
Tumblr media
When your mother died, you took her place at the castle on the same day of her burial. And you were sure God Almighty found a way to soothe the pain in your heart with his sweet words to the tears he noticed in your eyes when you first served his table.
“Don't weep for the ones who are already with our Lord for they stopped suffering as we do.”
Anyone would have seen those words as harsh words. But not you. His eyes on yours, his attention, even for a single moment of your life, made you thankful and dried your tears for the rest of the day.
You knew your love was stupid and childish. He was a prince! He would be king of Wessex after his father! Who were you to think he would ever look at you?
But there you were, praying for him to live when he came back from that battle against the demons from the North with an arrow in his body.
You took the task to care for him alongside his father and mother and brother so as you helped with Prince Alfred's sickness not long after this. But not with the same love and care you did for his wound.
You saw him grow into a warrior, you saw him grow into a man.
And you saw the pain in his eyes when it was his time to swallow his tears for his father that left you all orphans so soon without your king.
You saw with surprise when his mother denied the crown that was his for the birthright and you were there at the hall when he left that room so furious, growling like a wild animal, scaring you when he wasn't expecting to find anyone to hear his frustrated vent.
“Hearing behind doors?”
“No, my king, I'm sorry, I was just…”
“I am no king, woman. I am king of nowhere.”
“So tell me where is nowhere, my lord, for I can follow my king wherever he reigns”.
It was the first and only time you got a smile from him. The biggest gift your God has ever given you in that small curve Prince Aethelred had to you that day.
You remember you prayed for his heart that day. And somehow, he seemed to be better with the time.
He wasn't the king, but he was the commander and every time he left to another battle, you placed yourself beside your bed and prayed for his safe return.
You cried when he got married. You cried your childish dreams broken and your heart shattered, but even then, you prayed your God for his wife to be good and lovely. For she could love him as much as you did through your entire life.
And you took his happiness as your breath to keep living.
Even when he started conspiring, you prepared yourself to follow his lead, even if it would to go against his brother, your king, and his mother, your queen.
You were disposed to anything for him.
To live for him. To die for him.
To commit the worst of the crimes for him...
A decision you had to make, quickly, when you saw queen Judith pouring that bottle into his wine.
Poison, you knew...
She was ready to poison her child in favor of the youngest. The queen was ready to poison her son in favor of the one she put in his place.
Your fingers shook when she left towards the table and without thinking twice, you did it: you passed through the table and exchanged the amphoras, seeing when your fellow servant took the poisoned amphora to the seat of your queen.
And your prince came in, pouring pure wine in his own cup.
Your eyes filled with tears when she first drank from her cup.
More than die for him, you doomed your own soul for disobeying the words of your god. You took upon you the murder of your queen...
You would surely be hanged for treason.
But he was drinking from his cup with safety...
Thousands would fall by his side... And ten thousand by his right.
But death shall not approach him. Not that day.
"Crying again?" he asked, lifting his eyes towards you when you served his plate. "Didn't I told you not to weep for the dead?" he smiled.
One last smile with which your Lord gifted you before the worst.
"I do not weep for the dead, my king..."
"You should tell your servants you're not the..."
Your eyes found his when the queen's voice got lost in a choked sound. And your tears rolled down your face when you heard her choking sounds, gasping with the poison she prepared for him.
His smile closed and his eyes became fierce and furious towards you, but instead of doing anything against you, he pushed you aside, holding his traitorous mother into his arms before she hit the ground, looking at you so betrayed, unwarned of the truth behind that terrible scene.
"What have you done?" he asked, looking back to his mother.
Collapsing, she was still more worried about her precious pearl...
"Alfred... you must... the king... My son… shall live… My precious… Alfred…”
"Mother! Mother!!"
Her eyes remained open, red as the veins in her face and the color of her skin when the death she prepared for him kissed her own lips by your hands.
He held his mother's body against him in a scream of despair and let go of her only to grip your neck with the same strength you saw him gripping his sword; the same fury you imagined he had against the Norsemen demons.
"You... We received you! We opened our house to you and you killed my mother!" he growled furiously, pressing his fingers around your neck, cutting the flow of air from your lungs, causing you to gasp, producing the same choked sounds the queen produced not long ago.
Your tears became thicker. So soon?
Would you find your punishment so soon? Would it be your personal hell? To die by the hands you saved? By the hands you loved so hard?
If it was your punishment, then, you would accept it meekly.
Your eyes found his and your arms stopped fighting against his grip. Your heart was his, your soul was his, your life was his and if he wanted to take it, so be it.
You felt his fingers pressing tighter and your vision started to numb. You barely could hear when your fellow servant screamed towards him, fighting his grip, forcing him to let you go.
"IT WASN'T HER! THE QUEEN POISONED HERSELF! IT WASN'T HER, MY PRINCE! LET GO! LET GO!!"
The pulls of your friend caused the prince to let you fall and you gasped for the air, feeling it burn your lungs when starting to fill them again.
Your head was throbbing; your ears slowly being able to hear the conversation around you.
"You want to convince me my mother committed suicide? Is that it? How dumb do you think I..." the prince's voice silenced when your fellow servant took from his mother's dress the little bottle of poison you saw in her hands...
You weren't the only one...
"She poisoned your wine, my prince. I had no courage, but (Y/N) accepted this horrid fate to save my prince's life," she said, her head lowered.
You broke into sobs. Somehow, God was protecting you by revealing the truth even when you committed such a terrible crime.
"I've heard my queen and my king Alfred talking not far from now. She knew your connection with the conspiracy against King Alfred, my Lord. She decided you were a constant danger to your brother. She tried to poison you and, unlike any of us who knew what she was doing, (Y/N) has the courage to save your life, my lord."
He looked at you: a sobbing mess on the ground, looking at the floor, fingers on your skirt and purple marks of his fingers on your neck.
He came to you and grip your chin, forcing you to look at him.
"Is that true? Look into my eyes and swear over our Lord's cross! Is that true?!" he demanded.
And yet sobbing, you nodded, without ever taking your eyes from his.
"I swear, my king. Under God Almighty and all his saints, I swear I did it to protect you. I swear she poisoned your wine. I swear..."
You broke into sobs again and he slowly let go of your chin, getting up, sliding his hands through his hair and cleaning cold sweat from his forehead before looking at your fellow.
"No one shall ever know what happened into this room, did you hear me? Alfred shall never know what really happened! Did you hear me?"
"Yes, my lord," she said and he sighed, thinking for a while before looking at her.
"Bring me the man who sold this bottle to my mother. And cut his tongue before he says anything! We'll tell Alfred mother bought medicine from him and he took the chance to give her poison in the bottle he thought it was for the king. However, she took the medicine herself and this horrid thing happened. He shall be hanged for treason and my mother buried and what happened here shall be buried with her. Go!" he demanded and your fellow left after confirming his order received.
And so, he turned his glare to your languid figure still at the ground.
"Get up. And stop crying" he said, offering you a wiper from his pocket "I am trusting your word and your fellow's word and if you're telling me the truth so there is no reason to weep. You saved my life... However, it could have cost yours. Why have you done that?"
Your heart raced in your chest and skipped beats, almost choking you once again.
How could you say that? How could you ever dare to tell him about your filthy love?
You didn't deserve his mercy! Even less that he could know your heart's desires so deeply hidden for so long!
You looked at him without a word and so he came closer, looking into your eyes.
"I made you a question... Answer your prince. Why did you risk your life for saving mine when all your fellow servants like you didn't take the task?"
"Tell me where is Nowhere, my lord" you sobbed "So I can follow my king wherever he reigns".
It took a few seconds with his eyes on yours, but you knew he could see...
His lips curved again that beautiful way and his fingers touched your chin softly.
"I won't forget what you did. The world shall never know how far my mother went for Alfred, but I know. I will always know where my trust lies."
Tumblr media
"But the man responsible for this horrid event is hanged in front of your eyes! Today, Wessex bury its queen. Our mother."
His potent voice was echoing while King Alfred by his side had no voice to speak in front of his mother's body so beautifully placed as if she wasn't the treacherous bitch you all knew she was.
But his words were spitting truth in the middle of beautiful fallacies.
"However, we shall not weep for the ones who leave us. She's now living among the ones that, like her, did everything and went until the last efforts to protect what they believe was the right for this kingdom."
Not in Heaven among the good, but the queen would lie with the ones like her. The treacherous ones like her. His eyes crossed with yours at the crowd for a second before he kept his speech.
"In her place, I shall counsel my brother, our king, so Wessex won't lie without a counselor and our king shall have his rightful help to rule such a huge and magnificent land. Long live the king!"
Tumblr media
"Long live the king!" the others followed his voice and so did you.
But in your eyes, he now could read who was the King you want to see living longer.

Long Walk to Water
1a. Salva seems to have a fairly good life. He has his mom, his dad, his three brothers, and his two sisters. He goes to school and seems to have a fun time where he lives. His father is a judge and his village is named after his grandfather.
1b. Nya has to walk a long way to get water, thus providing the name of the book, A Long Walk to Water. She has to walk in the heat. The jar doesn’t appear to be that heavy during the time she takes to walk to water, but I bet on the way back it is very heavy. Plus she has to walk through a ton of thorn vines, even though she tries very hard to avoid stepping on them, sometimes they get stuck in her bare feet.
1c. Salva is at school when all the sudden a battle starts outside. People are running, crying, and screaming. Some men are even holding guns. Salva really wants to go home, but he follows the instructions his teacher gave him and hides in the bush. All he wants is to go home a drink a bowl of milk.
2a. Nya stepped on a thorn that got stuck in her bare foot. She must be in a lot of pain. She used another thorn to prod the thorn out of her foot. I feel so bad for Nya, she has to walk everyday on rough, hot ground, littered with thorns.
2b. A bomb explodes near Slava, who is hiding in the bush. He runs and runs away, until he can run no more. He’s with a group of people in which a group of men separate into the what village they are from. This reminds me of how people today always separate into groups, whether it is in the school yard, at work, or at an elderly home. People will always be judgmental, it’s human nature, but human nature can always change. Also Salva can’t stop wondering if he’ll ever see his family again.
2c. The group of people arrive at a rebel base. They are sorted into two groups; one group is men and the other and the other is women, children, and elderly. Salva tries to go with the men group but he’s only eleven so he gets moved to the women, children, and elderly group. The group from Loun-Ariik, the village Salva lives in, decide to sleep in an old barn they found. Slava can’t fall asleep, something feels wrong to him. When he looks up to see if everything looks okay he sees everyone is gone. They left him.
3a. Nya assived at the watering hole as the sky went from “hazy gray to olive green”. She fills her jug and drinks until she is cool. Her foot is sore and the jug is heavy. She knows it will be a longer walk back then it was to the watering hole.
3b. Salva cries because his group from his village left him. He wonders why they left him. to be honest I wonder this exact thing; did they leave him because he’s to small or weak? Salva sees a women and it turns out she’s the one who owns the barn. The woman is a Dinka too, just like Salva. She lets him continue to sleep in the barn but Salva continues to help out with things like fetching water, to make sure she doesn’t get kicked out.
3c. After a few days of Salva staying with the Dinkan woman the dry season begins. the woman tells Salva that she has to leave and he can no longer stay with her. As he wonders what to do he sees a group of people approach the woman’s house. They are Dinkan too.
4a. Nya has to walk twice a day to the watering hole. Her mother told her to take Akeer, her younger sister, with her for the second trip. Nya thinks Akeer, who is only five, will just slow her down, but her mother insists saying that akeer needs to learn. I truly feel bad for Nya. She has to do a full day of walking just to get two jugfuls of water, everyday, seven months of the year.
4b. Salva sees no familiar faces among the newly arrived group of Dinkans. The Dinkan woman asks the group if they can take in Salva. Most of the people in the group don’t want to, but one woman in the group convinces her, what I assume to be, husband to agree to take Slava. This reminds me of a problem we have today and the solution to the problem. People always stick to one opinion they have and shut down their minds, or they go with the people they either want to be like or have some sort of influence on them. The solution is portrayed in this, too, the woman who convinces her husband figure is the one person you need to make a stand and convinces everyone else of the better move. People like this woman is all we need.
4c. Slava grows hungry, very, very hungry. The food the Dinkan woman gave him before he left with his new group ran out on the third day. Buksa, a boy/man from a village called Jur-Chol, is also very, very hungry. Buksa and Salva fell far behind the group because they are so weak from the hunger. Buksa suddenly hears something, a bird call. He follows the call and it leads him to a bee’s nest full of honey.
5a. during the dry 5 months of the year, Nya’s family moves next to a big lake. It drys up too, but the clay it sits on is still wet. Nya then has to wait for water to seep into the hole she dug. This could take hours everytime.
5b. People all throughout the group have swollen bee stings from the bees they got the honey from. Everyday the group is growing larger and larger, every morning Slava searches the crowd for his family. One day as he searches he steps on a boy’s hand. The boy’s name is Marial, Salva and him become friends ad walk everyday together.
5c. A month after Slava hid in the bush they are in the Atout people’s land. Marial and Salva continue to walk together everyday. In the Atout people’s land there are lions said to be the fiercest in all the world. Salva’s nights become uneasy, for he keeps awaking to the roar of a lion or a lion’s kills last squeal. It’s said that after the Atout people die they are reborn as these lions hungry for the flesh of humans. One day Marial and Salva are walking and Slava hears someone call his name. He is awstruck o the point to where he can’t speak. I wonder who it is? Maybe it’s his family, I hope it is.
6a. Nya likes going to the camp during the dry season because she doesn’t have to make the long trips to the watering hole everyday. She realizes this time though that her mother hates it. Her mother is scared for Nya’s father and brother, Dep, when they go out to hunt because they could be found by some Dinkan men, that might hurt them. Her mother also doesn’t like it because they can’t bring many things so they basically can only use the things near them.
6b. It turns out the man was a part of Salva’s family. It was his Uncle Jewiir. Slava had not seen his uncle in two years for he was in the military. His uncle killed a small topi with his rifle he got to keep after leaving the military. Salva ate as much as possible, as fast as possible. He, and several others, regretted it that night for their stomachs, after starving for so long, repulsed it and they spent the night vomiting.
6c. Salva still walks with Marial everyday but he makes sure to stay close to Uncle Jewiir. One day the group starts walking in the late afternoon in hopes of finding a watering hole before making a cap for the night. They don’t find one and continue to walk miles and miles, until dawn the next day, before the group leaders decide the group needs rest and can stop. Salva doesn’t wake until Uncle Jewiir shakes him and Slava hears crying near him. Something happened to someone. Uncle just said it was Salva’s friend, but that might not be Marial. I hope it’s not, and I also hope no one died.
7a. Akeer has fallen ill with an illness older children and adults recover from but continue to suffer for years. This illness to young children and elders is very dangerous. They could starve even if food is right there with them. Her sister had been complaining lots to days before but now couldn’t even talk, and could barely move. I noticed that both Nya and Salva are having a tragedy in their lives right now. I hope neither has death involved. I also learned that Nya’s father is the chief of her village.
7b. Marial has died. In the night a lion, they presume, took Marial and ate him. All they had for evidence was some blood just off the trail. Salva is tired of worrying about his family, Marial, and he is especially tired of walking. I feel so sorry for this group of people. They all have to travel miles everyday just to get away fro a war.
7c. Uncle Jewiir tells Salva they are going to cross the Nile river, go across a desert, and then go to Ethiopia. Salva wishes Marial was there so Slava could tell him that he was right. Salva grows worried when he sees no boats to cross theriver, turns out the group is gong to use papyrus and reeds to make canoes. The work is hard but it keeps his mind off of his worries.
8a. Akeer is okay. Nya’s father decided she needed a doctor so they took her to the big white tent that was like the hospital. After two doses of medicine Akeer is a skinny and weak version of her old self. The doctor says it’s the water, and they need to boil it for two hundred seconds before drinking it. Nya realizes, though, that the water comes in such little amounts it would be gone before the two hundred seconds are up.
8b. The group of canoes reaches a island in the middle where fisherman stay. The group has nothing to trade do they beg. Oddly enough Uncle Jewiir doesn’t even have to beg, they just give him food, which he then shares with Salva. Salva remembers the times he had at his home where he was never hungry. He remember sthe times his father would take his bicycle and go to the market to get rice and beans. Sometimes his father would bring back mangoes!
8c. When the night arrives the fishermen seem to all vanish into their tents. Salva finds this curious. Suddenly he doesn’t. A huge swarm of mosquitoes erupts and start biting everyone. No one in the group gets any sleep. In the morning the fishermen tells them to be cautious on the rest of their journey. Everyoe gets as much water as they can. It’s time for the hardest part of the journey, the Akobo desert.
9a. Nya’s family has been back at the village for months now, it’s even almost time to go back again. A jeep pulls up one day and two strangers get out. The men talk to the chief and some other village men.. Nya asks Dep about what the men are talking to the chief and the other men about. Dep says it’s about water, but that confuses Nya (and me too). Anyone could have told the men where the watering hole was.
9b. Salva is tortured walking in the desert. His shoes didn’t last through the first day. Uncle Jewiir tells him to drink the bare minimum of water, which is very, very hard for Savla. Breathing is hard, he’s walking on thorns, an worst of all he stubbed his toe on a rock and the whole toenail came off! Salva doesn;t realize he’s falling way behind the group until Uncle Jewiir is next to him and gets him to speed up by giving Salva a place to walk to and when he gets to that one he gives him another.
9c. On day two of walking (there will be three days total as uncle Jewiir says), Salva sees some rocks that appear to be wobbling. It could also be him that’s wobbling. It turns out it is the group. He sees nine men all collapsed on the ground. Five are dead. A women tries to use her water to wake up one man. Someone tries to tell her to stop. She doesn’t.
10a. The strangers are done talking with the chief an the other men. Nya follows them to a tree. One of the men walks halfway between the tree and another, the other walks to the other tree. The man at the halfway point speaks to the other man in a different language. When the man at the other tree translates for the chief he says, “This is the spot, halfway between the two largest tress. We will find the water here.” Nya is confused, there is no water there, unless it is raining.
10b. Salva wants to give some of his water to help the four still alive men, but Uncle Jewiir stops him. Uncle Jewiir tells Slava that others are stronger then Salva and can handle having less water better than Salva can. Almsot magically the four men are better and are soon walking with the group again. Uncle Jewiir tells Salva that once they reach the refugee camp they are going to, he is leaving and going back to Sudan to fight in the war again. Salva is sad but asks Uncle Jewiir to look for his family.
10c. Salva’s group came across some water and a dead stork to cook and eat. As the group waits hungrily for the bird to cook, some men from the Nuer tribe  attacks them. They rob them and question Uncle Jewiir. They ask Uncle Jewiir if he is with the rebels, when he says no they tie him to a tree. After they finish robbing the group they go over to Uncle Jewiir and kill him with three loud shots. I feel so bad for Salva, just in the last week he has lost his only friend and his uncle. I hope things get better for him soon. A similar thing to this happened to me recently. On the day of my ninth birthday party my father and brother went outside and saw the cat we had had for about 12 years, had died. They didn’t want to ruin my day so the net day they told me, and then got a call from our grandparents saying thy had been on a walk and found our 9 month old kitten, who had been missing for about 2 days, dead. Then last year my pet ferret that was the best pet we had ever had, died. In front of my own eyes, I saw it take it’s last breaths. Then about 2 months later our neighbor who was very important to my family and I died. This is why I really, really hope things get better for Salva, because I’ve had a similar experience to his. Twice before.
11a. After the two men left they began clearing the area between the two trees at the fountain. It’s very dangerous for Nya’s tribe becuase poisonous snakes and scorpions are roaming about in the long grass. I feel so bad for Nya’s tribe. They have to do all this work just to get one fountain of good, clean water. Nya still makes the two daily trips to the pond. Soon she won’t have to.
11b. The group dug a grave for Uncle and to morn started walking later than usual. After they started walking again Salva had a numbness in his heart because of losing both Marial and Uncle, but soon he realizes he is actually walking faster then he was with Uncle. The pain made him stronger. The group seems to have forgotten that Uncle always shared his food with them and now Salva has to beg for food.
11c. There are thousands upon thousands of people at the refugee camp Itang. Salva makes a promise to himself that if his family is there he will find them. I’m starting to lose hope that Salva will ever find hope. All the sudden Salva is at the entrance gate, watching people arrive, he sees a bright orange head scarf, just like the one his mother wears.
12a. The two men return to Nya’s village. But this time with ten more men, two trucks, and some new mysterious tools. ONe of the tools Nya calls “a iron giraffe”. I discover it is a drill, later in the passage it says “The giraffe was a tall drill that had been brought to the village by the two men who had visited earlier.” So yes the “iron giraffe” is a drill which I think they are going to use to dig deep down to find the water they think is deep in the ground.
12b. Salva realizes the women is not his mother. He thinks back to what Uncle had told him “’The village of Loun-Ariik was attacked... burned. Few people survived... no one knows where they are now.’” and realizes his family is dead. I feel so bad for Salva. He’s lost everything and is the last one left in his family, but I actually don’t think his family is dead. I think they might actually be alive. Suddenly while Salva felt as though he was standing on the edge of “a giant hole- a hole filled with the black despair of nothingness” he remembers when Uncle helped him get through the desert by getting him to take baby steps. He starts telling himself “I need only to get through the rest of this day”.
12c. One day, six years later, Salva hears rumors of all the Ethiopian refugee camps being shut down. On a rainy day this actually does happen. They are ran out of the camp by armed men. Salva soon learns they are being run towards the Gilo River. It’s the rainy season which means the currents will be deadly. Plus the river is known for one more thing... Crocodiles. “It was the rainy season. Swollen by the rains, the Gilo’s current would be merciless. The Gilo was well known for something else, too. Crocodiles.”
13a. Nya finds the process of making the fountain funny because they keep having to drive to the pond and get water to put in the hole in order to drill. The bag kept having leaks and the crew was becoming discouraged but the boss encourages  them by telling them jokes and laughing with them. I don’t think that Nya has very much hope in the fountain. The passages from her constantly say things like “But it did not sound like water” and other things too.

The writings of Luke the physician starting with his version of the gospel - Luke 15:11-32 comments: The Prodigal Son, an important point for Christian parents
Luke 15:11 ¶  And he said, A certain man had two sons: 12  And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. 13  And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. 14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. 15  And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16  And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. 17  And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 18  I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, 19  And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. 20  And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. 21  And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. 22  But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: 23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: 24  For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. 25  Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing. 26  And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. 27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound. 28  And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him. 29  And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: 30  But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. 31  And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. 32  It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
Proverbs 22:6  Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 29:3 ¶  Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.
The assurance in the verse in Proverbs is that children will often stray from the lessons and habits they learned in their childhood but will return to what they remember as being a stable and comforting part of their early life when live has dealt them the hand they so richly deserved for their apostasy. Many young adults who have strayed, when they have their own children, want a little of what they were given spiritually that they walked away from for their own. It is tragic when that does not happen because a parent was hateful, implacable, or just plain mean-spirited in the way they lived in front of their child. Sometimes there is no going back because if the person who abused them emotionally or otherwise is in heaven they certainly don’t want to be there. What they don’t understand is the choice they are making if they are not saved is a terrible one and if they would just put aside the sorrowful memory of the idiot parent or parents they would understand something God has recorded for us.
Psalm 27:10  When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.
Here, in this parable, one way of viewing it is with the father as a type of Christ as God, the elder son is like Israel, and the younger son who went away is like the bulk of mankind who left the first worship of the Creator and wallowed in idolatry and self-worship for four-thousand years. God rejoices that they have chosen to cease swimming in filth and have returned to Him in repentance and humility but Israel resented the father’s embrace of the wayward, the so-called prodigal son.
It can also be viewed with the father as a type of God the Father embracing the repentant Jew who returns to the fold, even with those who stayed true to the Law given to Moses angry at His reception of them. There are several other ways to view it I’ve read with the far country being pagan religion and the swine being false teachers and prophets as in 2Peter 2:22. Read the entire chapter.
2Peter 2:22  But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
Remember how Jesus warned against casting your pearls, new converts, before swine, false preachers and teachers who would corrupt them?
Matthew 7:6  Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
The point is, though, no matter how you color it to make your point in preaching or teaching, is that this parable underscores what was said just before it, that there is great rejoicing over one returning to the faith. It can be used to be about new converts but it is most literally applicable for the backsliding Jew who has wondered away from the flock and how God and His angels rejoiced when that one returned. You apply it to our own dispensation of Christianity but be careful with the limitations of that application. Simply put, God is ecstatic when a believer stops wallowing in the muck and the mire and realizes His need for God’s truth and mercy. No matter how far a Christian strays he or she is never not God’s own child and God will never reject them.
Hebrews 13:5b  … for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
I would say one more thing about this parable and applying it to our modern times. When you have a child who persists in a sin that you know will wreck their lives it is not good to go to war with them. Even if you have to not be a part of their lives for a time, always leave the door unlocked, give them a way to return, and embrace them when they do. “You are no longer my child,” is not a Christian sentiment and woe be it to us if our Lord felt that way with our apostasy.

Living in CHRIST’s Presence | Dallas Willard [33:26-49:30]
1.] Seeking allows us to grow into the people who can receive      CHRIST into our lives & allow that to continue to grow, until      we’ve reached the kind of fullness of CHRIST.
That characterizes a person,           who has learned how to live in           the interactive presence of GOD.
So living in the Kingdom of GOD is a matter of      living with GOD’s actions in our lives.
     That’s what it is.
We seek the Kingdom of GOD.
We are seeking more & more to allow GOD to be present      in everything that we are & everything that we do.****
And allow HIM to act & overrule, & guide, &      help us become what HE intended us to be.
     So seeking is fundamental.
Tumblr media
2.] Now the key here is of course CHRIST.
When CHRIST came & announced the       Kingdom of GOD had drawn near & was available       to all kinds of people, HE was referring primarily to      the presence of the Kingdom in HIMSELF.****
It was in CHRIST that the Kingdom became near,      & accessible. But then it’s through you & me that      it continues to be accessible.
1 Corinthians 3:16-17 | Do you not know that you            yourselves are GOD’s temple, & that            GOD’s SPIRIT dwells in you?
If anyone destroys GOD’s temple,            GOD will destroy him;            for GOD’s temple is holy,            & you are that temple.
Tumblr media
3.] When JESUS sends HIS people out in Luke 10, &      HE tells them what’s going to happen.
They’re going to be accepted &           they’re going to be rejected.
But in both cases HE says, “say to them nevertheless,      the Kingdom of GOD has come near unto you.”
     That was in them.
We are bearers of the Kingdom of GOD.
Now I want you to put that again into the category of      dignity, because your dignity & mine      (as ministers of CHRIST) depends upon the fact that      we bear within ourselves the Kingdom.
2 Corinthians 6:16 | What agreement can exist            between the temple of GOD & idols?            For we are the temple of the living GOD.            As GOD has said:            “I will live with them & walk among them,            & I will be their GOD, & they will be MY people.”
1 Peter 2:5 | you also, like living stones, are            being built into a spiritual house to be a            holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices            acceptable to GOD through JESUS CHRIST.
Tumblr media
We don’t just talk about it.           It is a presence that is in action.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4.] And our first step then is to study CHRIST, & to      make HIM the one who fills our minds [35:52]
We look at HIS teachings, & we heard HIM say:
“What is the most important thing about       living & entering the Kingdom?”
If you don’t know this verse, please do go study it &      concentrate on it—where JESUS says,
Matthew 5:20-21 | For I tell you that unless your            righteousness exceeds that of the scribes & Pharisees,            you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
You have heard that it was said to the ancients,            ‘Do not murder, & anyone who murders will be             subject to judgment.’
Matthew 5:22 | But I tell you that anyone who is angry            with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again,            anyone who says to his brother, ‘Raca,’ will be            subject to the Sanhedrin.
But anyone who says, ‘you fool!’ will be            subject to the fire of hell.
Tumblr media
4a] Now we need to spend a few moments on that.       What does that mean?
What is beyond the righteousness of scribes & Pharisees?
Well the following passages illustrate this, but just very      simply & basically, HE’s talking about abandoning      righteousness in actions.
And moving to the righteousness           of the heart & mind, and all of           the spiritual aspects that           make up the person.****
Going beyond the righteousness of the scribes & the pharisees.
Just to drive that home with his illustration, you no longer      say that I am right because I didn’t kill anybody.
No the question is,           “Would you have liked to?”
Or how un/happy would you be if you found      that they had dropped dead?
Tumblr media
4b] See & that marvelous passage in Matthew 5, that deals      first with anger & contempt, then later it deals with the      cultivation of lust or desire.
See these are ways of driving home that point, about      beyond the righteousness of scribes & pharisees.
And that’s very threatening & very difficult.           In fact, it put JESUS on the cross—in the end.
     >> Because of the opposition that arose from the       righteousness of the scribes & pharisees.
          JESUS did not conform.
Matthew 5:18-19 | For I tell you truly, until            heaven & earth pass away, not a single jot,            not a stroke of a pen, will disappear from            the Law until everything is accomplished.
So then, whoever breaks one of the least            of these commandments & teaches others            to do likewise will be called least in the            kingdom of heaven; but whoever            practices & teaches them will be called            great in the kingdom of heaven.
Tumblr media
5.] And it’s interesting that by far, more attention was given      to things like breaking the Sabbath & washing of hands,      & little food rituals—the battle in the Gospels focuses on      those.
Then when JESUS tries to turn it           to things that really matter,           then they go away & scheme:           How can we kill this guy?
5a] And it’s fascinating to see how blood thirsty the people around      JESUS were, but see that’s where the righteousness of the      scribes & pharisees leaves you.
It leaves you trying to manage affairs & make them work out      as you think they should..in your own strength.
And so you need to have a little committee meeting, &      get together here and say, “How can we kill this guy?”
Beyond the righteousness of the scribe & pharisee      sphere is where we experience the Kingdom of GOD.
     >> It’s where we begin to enter interactively.
Into the kind of change that allows us to live constantly      in the action of GOD in our lives.
5b] And as long as we stick at the level of action &       self-righteousness identified, we’ll never move on,       to where the real action of the Kingdom of GOD is.
Tumblr media
EXCUSE: And then of course many people say,      “Well we’re not very sophisticated.”
That’s why JESUS talks about children, & says,      “Unless you repent & become like a little child       again you won’t enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”
6.] We can think about how many sermons have we heard      about how to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
About how to repent & become like a little child.
But the primary part of that means that we      forsake the wisdom of men, of human beings,      about how to deal with GOD. ****
That’s the primary part of becoming a child.
A little child runs to the door, hears the garbage truck,           & says I want to be a garbage wo/man.
Parents hear that, & what do they think?
Well not very smart, hopefully s/he’ll change when           when they grow up; & no doubt they will.
But the direct & immediate enthusiasm for life & the      Kingdom of GOD—beyond the righteousness of the      scribes & the Pharisee—is what is primary in entering      the Kingdom of GOD & living there.
     So we venture on CHRIST.
That is how we come into the Kingdom of GOD.
6a] The only saving advice friends is, truly, trust JESUS CHRIST.
But don’t just trust something HE said           or something HE did.
See there are many people who actually believe in CHRIST,      but they don’t believe CHRIST.
They believe in HIM, but they don’t believe HIM.
And then further they don’t believe what HE believed.
That’s the progression into the Kingdom.           Coming to believe what HE believed.
     >> And we do that by fixing our minds upon HIM. ****
6b] Now you know the old law will do a lot for you.
Joshua 1:8 is one of the most important verses      in the whole BIBLE.
Joshua 1:8 | This Book of the Law must not depart            from your mouth; you are to recite it day & night so            that you may be careful to do everything written in it.            For then you will prosper & succeed in all you do.
WHY? Because the law is designed to line you up with      the Kingdom of GOD. It’s a great gift!
And John spoke to us this morning about Psalm 1 is about.      The Psalm 1 wo/man is a person who is feasting on      GOD’s Kingdom.
That is what the law is there for, it isn’t for us to make little      tricks to jump through. It’s to point us to the KOG.
6c] If you set out to just keep half of the commandments, you       will be thrown on the mercy of GOD immediately because       you’ll be crosswise with everyone else.
          >> But JESUS is the one who enables us to           penetrate to the heart of the matter.
And sets us free from the obligations that have been           imposed upon us by ourselves, very likely. ****
Because many times we impose stuff upon ourselves      as a way of getting along with others.
So we say, “I’m going to be like this, going to be like that.”
     >> That’s a terrible trap for those of us, who are      spokespeople for CHRIST.
Because we’re constantly put under pressure,      to please other people.
And it’s a deadly trap & it’ll crush your soul.
7.] Unless we learn to step beyond the righteousness of the      scribes & the pharisee—& not be governed by what other      people expect us to do & say.
Be loving, be kind, be present;
accept them for who they are.
     >> Live with them there—but don’t do as they do.
And you remember that’s what JESUS said about the      righteousness of the scribes & pharisees:
“Do what they say, but           don’t do what they do.”
Because they say & do not.      That is the deplorable human condition.
And the only escape from it is the Kingdom of GOD.
7a] Again I just want to conclude with a verse that you know,       extremely well, but we need to dwell on it in this context       of knowledge.
It’s John 8, HE was dealing with a bunch of people, who      were drawn to HIM—but they were really not committed.
And HE said to them, if you abide in MY WORD, now that      is the same word used for describing abiding in the vine      [John 15:6].
Abide in MY WORD is to put MY WORD into practice.      And that is the pathway to knowledge.
HE says if you abide in MY WORD, then you are      MY students indeed.
Okay now you are making the connection all the way back,      I trust. Becoming a student in response to the message      of the Kingdom, & we start to grow.
We learn about the easy yoke by experience [46:20]
And you observe the work of GOD with you as you go      through your life, & you stop carrying the burdens.
See that’s why the yoke is easy, & the burden is light
Though admittedly the burden is huge &           there’s the temptation to try to carry it.
Because it’s in the yoke with JESUS & drawing from      the life of the Kingdom, in which you live with HIM,      that the yoke is easy & the burden is light.
7b] So you can be the most cheerful person in town,       as a spokesperson for CHRIST. [Part 3, 47:10]
You know it’s very telling, Mother Teresa of Calcutta           trained her people that work with her, & she would           not retain someone who did not smile.
          They had to smile.
Now here again you could make that,           life crushing legalism.
          A frozen smile, no.
But bless her ugly little heart. She of course did not           mean that. She meant a genuine smile that comes           from a realization of the goodness of GOD—where           we are, even if you’ve just been dragged off the           streets & you’re dying.
You’re dying in the arms of love.
See that’s the Kingdom of GOD.
7c] Now if you put your life in HIS WORD, in that way, then       you really are HIS student. And you will know the truth,       & the truth will set you free.
It will set you free because it will be the           realization of how things really are.
There’s a lot to smile about.
Joy is the final word. MY joy I give you JESUS said.      Along with HIS peace & HIS love, came joy..
John 15:11 | I have told you these things so that           MY joy may be in you & your joy may be complete.
And that is based upon the reality that things are really      better than you could ever imagine —as you’ve lived      in the Kingdom of GOD.
And you learn that & you have joy.
Joy is a pervasive sense of well-being; & that springs up     in the cheer. I love that word cheer, we associate it with     cheerleaders & all sorts of silly things, but I love it when     JESUS said, “Be of good cheer”
John 16:33 | I have told you these things            so that in ME you may have peace.            In the world you will have tribulation.            But take courage (be of good cheer);            I have overcome the world!”
That’s where we live, in the KOG.
