1: I plan on going to graduate school to work on an epic fantasy novel, which my professor helped me re-brand as literary fantasy. It aligns with what I wanna do - combine literary with fantasy - but epic fantasy is the core of it so I’m on the fence on what to call it, specifically. 

Haven’t gotten a solid outline or pitch, but I’m interested in having people from different backgrounds and traditions interacting with each other. Like a veteran becoming a despot of a new city-state adopting his best friend’s child after Said Friend died. Or two exiled people forming a triad with a noble’s daughter. How people with mixed heritages interact with other people from mixed heritages. 

2: I blazed through the Mass Effect trilogy in about a month or two. It’s a feat for me since I can take a year or two to finish a game. So... This is Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite trilogy in the whole Citadel.

3: I have one tarot deck. I want more, but I’m super picky about art styles, so I haven’t gotten more yet.

hey love!! so sorry you're starting to be sick i hope you'll feel better soon! have you watched druck? bc ok so like 2 weeks ago if asked i wld have said i'd never watch any skam remakes. but then i saw skam france all over my dash & got extremely curious (i'm french) and i Fell in love with skam france s3 so! now i'm getting rlly curious abt all the remakes?? but i also don't have that much time to watch all of them so i guess my question wld be which one wld u recommend if uve watched several?

i have watched druck and i actually really like it! i liked the general vibe of the first season, the dynamic between the girls, but i think a trend with a lot of the remakes is that they play season 1 a little safe, adhering quite closely to the og, and after that they feel like they can go a little wilder - and i really think you saw that with druck, season 2 had such a different feel to it than season 2 of the og did. to be entirely honest, i don’t like season 2 of the original a lot (not a big fan of william) but i was actually quite captivated by mia & alex’ relationship and the way they developed that. it felt a lot more natural, and they both just felt like way more interesting and complex character. and obviously season 3 has only just started so we’ll have to see how that goes but especially because of how different they made season 2 i’m so so curious to see what they’re going to do this season! 

i’ve seen skam nl as well (gotta support my fellow dutch people) and i was surprised by how much i enjoyed that as well. i usually don’t like watching dutch films/shows, they often feel really awkward and stunted but i was quite charmed by the actors and the small additions they made - it felt distinctly dutch, but in a really cool way. and obviously it’s just fun to see places that i’m around daily featured there!! 

i’ve also watched skam italia, and while i liked it mostly it didn’t make quite the same impact on me as the others did (though the cinematography of that one is really something! you can really see the differences in film styles between italian and other european cinema) 

anyway so this got really long because i love talking about skam and love thinking about adaptation and film but anyway: i’d say, if you want to check out another remake and have some substantial material to work with, give druck a chance because it has two full seasons out already - skamnl season 2 will start airing this month and if it’s good you can always get to that one at some later point!!

reading habits!

i. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

Usually the couch or my bed. Sometimes I go sit on the balcony, too, when it’s warm and sunny.

ii. Do you use bookmarks? If so, what kind?

Definitely! I have tons of them. I pick which one to use depending on the vibes of the book - and its size, of course. Basically, if I go in a place and they have free bookmarks, you can be sure I’m gonna be taking one of them home.

iii. Can you just stop reading or do you have to make it to the end of a chapter?

If there are chapters, I’d definitely rather finish the chapter before stopping. Otherwise I’m content with stopping at a line break, or at the end of a paragraph. Stopping in the middle of a paragraph gives me insurmountable anxiety.

iv. Do you eat or drink while reading?

I’ll very rarely eat, and only when I’m reading on my kindle or my phone. I’ll have a glass of water or something nearby without problem though.

v. Music or tv while reading?

I don’t mind if someone else has it on, because I can tune out pretty much anything when I’m really immersed in a book. If I’m outside, I sometimes listen to wordless music to isolate myself from the noise.

vi. One book at a time or several at once?

Literally always several. My reading moods vary a lot.

vii. Reading at home or out?

Both! I like reading in transports (love reading in the train) or in nature the most, I think.

viii. Reading out loud or silently?

Silently. I do like reading out loud though, either for other people or when the writing has something poetic to it.

ix. Do you read ahead or skip pages?

NEVER. I hate being spoiled, too.

x. Breaking the spine

I mean, it’s kind of inevitable.

xi. Do you write in your books?

Sometimes, yeah! Especially if it’s a book I’m studying. I’ll mark passages, too, when they’ve struck a particular cord. And I’ll dog-ear pages. I’m not sorry.
