Sunday Snippet

Okay I was tagged by @kingsofeverything and @louisandtheaquarian to share a snip so since I'm editing and getting my big bang ready to go up next week, I thought I'd share a little ditty that I enjoyed enough to send to emmu when I read it lolol It's another Mitch and Harry scene... which isn't the entire fic, I swear lololol I'm just leaving the best stuff for when you actually get into the fic, right? lol ANYWAY... it's a bit longer, sooooo I put some of it under the cut just to be sneaky lollll

“You should join Louis and his friends at the pub tonight.”

Harry froze before looking at Mitch. “How do you know Louis and his friends are going to the pub tonight in the first place?”

“Nevermind that,” Mitch said, waving his hand at him. “I just think you should go.”

“I’m not going if I’m not invited,” Harry said, eyes wide. “I told you before and I meant it. I don’t want to be another red flag.”

“You don’t want to raise any more red flags,” Mitch corrected.

“Who even cares if I say it right?” Harry asked, irritated. 

Language and this style of communication was so complicated. Every time he thought he was getting it right, he was corrected again. He was tired of doing everything wrong and wanted people to just be able to understand him. 

“You know what I meant.”

“I did. And you were invited.”

Harry snorted. “Right.”

“You were,” Mitch insisted. 

 “It couldn’t have been Louis…” Harry trailed off before looking at Mitch hopefully. “Was it?”

Mitch’s gaze was sad as he shook his head. “No. It wasn’t.”

“No one else had your number, and as far as I know, you don’t know any of his friends. So how would I have gotten invited to the pub tonight?” 

Mitch held his eye contact and as his head tilted forward a little, Harry gasped. “Oh my god, it was Zayn!”

“I didn’t say that,” Mitch said, pointing at him. 

“You didn’t have to, I could read it in your eyes!” Harry cried, clapping his gloved hand over his mouth and therefore rendering it useless now. He’d have to replace it with another new one before he got back to work on the croissants. “How did Zayn get your number?”

Mitch looked at the ceiling as if he was begging for patience from someone above. “I’m not telling you that either.”

“Technically you didn’t even tell me it was Zayn in the first place,” Harry said, smugly. “Look at me and maybe I can read the answer to this question in your eyes again.”

“How’d you even do that, anyway?” Mitch asked, sounding incredibly annoyed. “If you can just learn anything you want to with your weird star superpower ways by looking in my eyes, then I’m going to lose all of my mysteriousness.”

“Oh, dear Mitch,” Harry said, walking over to him and squishing his cheeks between his hands. “You’ve not been mysterious to me from the moment I walked in here. You were the sweetest, cuddliest person I’d ever met, and that still hasn’t changed.”

“I hate you,” Mitch said, staring at his nose rather than his eyes.

“I love you too,” Harry said before pressing a kiss to his cheek.

With a sigh, Mitch answered, “Yeah, that’s what I meant, too.”

“I know.” Harry gave him a wide smile before prancing back to the counter and putting on another new glove.

1. Most hits: Rise up like the sun

My actor Harry Dr Louis fic. I found this one the easiest to write by far. I’m not sure why it’s got 71,300 hits but I’m super proud of it. Love the characters in this one.

2. Second most kudos: King of wishful thinking.

My ‘Pretty Woman’ story. Harry the hooker, Louis the businessman. Written around Leeds, my home city. It has 1584 kudos. I’d love for more people to read it.

3. Third most comments: (so king of wishful thinking was third so I’ve cheated and gone to the second most comments which is) We are timeless

Harry is minor Royalty, Louis is in a band. They’d met years before in Ibiza and had this sweet but very brief encounter. Fast forward a few years and they meet again…

I love these characters and this story. My last fic written 🥺

4. Fourth most bookmarks: The light to guide me home.

My Vegas/instant attraction fic. Louis runs a bar, Harry is on holiday with the others and they stumble into Louis’ bar… it’s fun and smutty, yet feelings do develop.

5. Fifth most words: Can I lay by your side

Louis a Uni student and barman bumps into Harry in his local shop buying Vodka and looking lost. They bond over Harry’s weekend bucket list of getting drunk, getting laid and getting stoned. It’s quite angsty as they part ways, only to meet up six months later under very different circumstances.

My first proper fic and I do adore the characters.

6. Fewest words: Sugarpie honeybunch. (500 words)

We had to use keywords which were, Ice crystals, cooking and candle and use exactly 500 words.

Louis cooks mince pies for Christmas and gets in a bit of a mess...

7. ( there isn’t a 7 but I’m cheeky and want to add this one) Can I just be the same?

I agreed to be a pinch hitter and when I got my prompt I was scared shitless! It was vampire-y and totally NOT what I’m used to reading or writing. But the pics for the post were so gorgeous I just had to give it a go. It’s set in present times, Harry is the Vampire (of which we don’t really see much of this going on, only how it happened 🫣) Louis is in Law. They meet outside of a pub as Harry walks home from work and Louis is outside having a cig. There are flashbacks to Harry navigating his life around never getting older and therefore never putting down roots or having anyone in the world for him. He runs away as things become more difficult in his life and he starts again. Can Louis be the one to give him roots and a reason to stop running?

Some Changes to FYMHM

A message from @evilovesyou

It’s been brewing for a while, and we’ve finally come to the conclusion that the way FYMHM works currently is not sustainable for us as a team anymore, especially considering that some of us are going to be leaving the team.

Some of you know how much this project means to me and how hard I wanted it to work because it was our late friend Lynda‘s brain child and for such a long time it was something that was just between her, @reminiscingintherain and I.

We debated going on a hiatus, but we’ve decided to keep up the spirit and idea that started this project and make it more effortless for everyone. We won’t be doing monthly recs, but we will rather reblog the fics we recommend and add out rec text to the reblogs whenever we have time. That way we can still keep up our tagging system and you all can still find under-appreciated fics on this blog!

There won’t be a schedule, but we will be loosening the rules as to which fics we want to recommend. We will stick to fics with low hit counts and few kudos and comments, but we won’t be as strict about their stats anymore.

In doing this, we will also happily accept asks with recommendation texts and applications to join the blog as a mod.

I’m looking forward to this new era of FYMHM and I hope you all join us for the ride 🥰

Hello!
