Not a date - @wolfstarmicrofic - 289 words
“I’m going to bed,” Sirius grumbled, throwing his bag down and half-diving into his four-poster.
“Are you alright?” Remus asked, confused. Sirius had barely spoken two words to any of them on the way back from Hogsmeade.
“Fine.”
Remus pinched his eyebrows together. “What’s up with him?” he asked James, who was unpacking his purchases from Zonko’s.
“He’s been in a strop ever since he saw you on your date earlier,” James shrugged.
“I- date?” Remus asked, pausing. He hadn’t been on a date. He’d been with Gregory, working on a project in the Three Broomsticks. And if Sirius was mad, that meant-
“Padfoot!” he nearly yelled, wrenching back Sirius’s bedhangings.
“Fuck, what, Remus?” Sirius asked, quickly wiping at his face as he was revealed. He had clearly been crying.
“I wasn’t on a date, Pads. Greg and I were-” Remus tried to explain.
“You don’t have to lie to me,” Sirius laughed derisively. “You could’ve just told me when I asked you out before, that you were going with someone else.”
“Ask- Asked me out?” Remus repeated, floored. “You said you wanted to buy me a drink when we all went to the Three Broomsticks!”
“And you said you had homework!” Sirius whined, still looking upset.
“Yes! I met Greg in Hogsmeade because the book we needed was in Flourish and Blotts!” Remus said, frustrated. “We weren’t on a date! And if I had know you were asking me out, I would have-” but he stopped, nervous he had said too much.
“Would have what?” Sirius repeated softly from his bed, eyes wide and nervous.
“I would’ve ditched him in a heartbeat, Sirius,” Remus murmured. “For a date with you? Merlin, I would have cancelled on fucking Bowie.”

Prompt 8 - Not A Date
@wolfstarmicrofic May 8, word count 662
“So, fancy going to Hogsmeade with me on Saturday?” Sirius asked. “James is going with Evans and Peter is off with, erm, I can’t remember her name, but he’s off with someone and I don’t want to go on my own.” He scuffed his toe on the rug, looking up at Remus though his eyelashes.
“What, like on a date?” Remus teased. Sirius’s heart skipped a beat.
“Don’t be daft.” He grinned back. But secretly he wished it was a date. He'd wanted one for a while.
“Oh, go on then.” Remus nodded. “I need some new quills anyway.” Sirius beamed.
“Great. Where do you want to meet?”
“Sirius, we live in the same room. We can walk down together.”
“Oh, okay, great.” Sirius felt a bit flustered. James came barrelling in and tackled him to the floor. Thank Merlin for James Potter. He wrapped his arms around James and attempted to get on top of him, but James dead weighted him and squashed him into the floor.
“Hello gorgeous, fancy seeing you here.” James cooed at him.
“Get off me, you big lug.” Sirius wiggled and pushed at James. But that boy was all muscle. James finally got to his feet and hauled Sirius with him. They wandered off together, leaving Remus to his homework.
Saturday came and Sirius had been too excited to sleep. It’s not a date, it’s not a date. He had to keep telling himself. They went down to breakfast together and when they were done James and Peter disappeared off to find their dates.
“Shall we?” Sirius asked, making a show of bowing Remus forward. Remus snorted at him.
“Sure.” And walked off.
The walk down to the village was pretty quiet. The other students milling around them making all the noise.
“So where do you want to go first?” Sirius asked, once the picturesque village was visible before them.
“Honeydukes,” Remus grinned. Of course, Sirius should have known. That boy was addicted to chocolate.
“Perfect.” He grinned as they headed towards the sweet shop.
He opened the door for Remus and said to him as they entered the sweet-smelling place. “Get whatever you want, my treat.” Remus turned and gave him a funny look.
“I thought you said this wasn’t a date.” Sirius swallowed and became very interested in a box of peppermint imps.
“Should I get some of these for Peter? They’re his favourite aren’t they?” Deflection. That always worked, right?
“Sirius, answer the question.” Damn it. Sirius picked up a packet of fudge flies.
“I’ll get these for James as well. Can you see the fizzing whizzbees? I have a hankering for some.” Remus stood in front of him, blocking his way.
“Sirius, is this or is this not a date?” He’d folded his arms, Sirius knew he wasn’t getting out of this.
“Would it really be that bad if it was?!”  He scowled. He was fucking this up as usual. He felt the tell-tale stinging behind his eyes as he blinked back tears that had suddenly tried to burst out of him.
Remus’s arms relaxed.
“No,” He said, his voice low and sincere. Sirius’s eyes snapped up to Remus’s, searching his face for any signs that he was joking. “And if this is a date, I won’t feel bad about lightening your purse.” He winked mischievously and Sirius watched as Remus gabbed a basket and began piling all of his favourite sweets into it.
When it was full, they took it to the till and Sirius paid. His purse was indeed considerably lighter when they left the shop. “Silly bugger.” Remus laughed at him at the same time as he took Sirius’s hand in his and entwined their fingers together. “Right I still need quills, then I’m all yours.” Sirius looked down at their hands and couldn’t believe that this was real. He felt ten feet tall and so happy he could have floated off without the assistance of the fizzing whizzbees.

it is my belief that the "Siri" nickname for Sirius is used by Regulus and Regulus only.
BUT even more specifically, in the younger years when they're close. Or in modern/non voldy aus when Regulus wants to get away with something or act innocent. "Siri" being used in any other situation or being said by any other character feels weird and wrong.

only one bed - @wolfstarmicrofic - word count: 233
"You're an idiot," Remus grumbled, staring down at Sirius's bed, which was currently singed and blackened.
"It's a black as my heart," Sirius chuckled, unbothered. "Prongs, looks like we're bunking together tonight."
"Reg's staying over, mate," James responded, only blushing a little.
Remus laughed as Sirius fake-gagged.
"Pete?" Sirius asked, turning to the shorter boy.
"Right, and be kept up all night by your kicking? No, thanks," Peter rolled his eyes.
But, somehow even more cheerful than before, Sirius turned to Remus. "Looks like it's you and me, Moony!" he chirped, not knowing about the inner turmoil Remus was currently experiencing.
Because, under any other circumstance, Remus would have loved to share a bed with Sirius, who he regularly stared at with glassy eyes and a desperate expression, only to be kicked my Lily and told to be a little less obvious. But clearly, he was Sirius's last choice, so now he just felt frustrated. But he also couldn't refuse the other boy anything. "Alright," he mumbled.
But as they slipped into bed that night, he was shocked to feel Sirius sink back into him. Amazed that when, against his better instinct, he slipped his arms around the shorter boy, Sirius sighed softly and moved even closer. Thrilled when Sirius mumbled sleepily, "We fit together nicely, eh, Moony?"
And it was then that he realized, perhaps, this had been the plan all along.

"Flowers look good on you," Remus whispered, audible only to Sirius, as he adorned his long black hair with a delicate jasmine blossom. Sirius looked at him and smiled warmly in response, his beautiful blue eyes shining with love.
"Flowers look good on you," Remus whispered softly, ensuring no one else could hear, as he placed a bouquet of jasmine flowers on the grave—that empty grave. A tear trickled down his cheek as he realized he would never see his smile again.

Prompt 9 - Star Crossed Lovers
@wolfstarmicrofic May 9, word count 311
They’d been written in the stars. Sirius was named after one for Merlin’s sake! It was just a shame that those stars had happened to be crossed.
Remus had loved Sirius at Hogwarts and after. They’d been so happy in those adolescent years. Blind to what the future would bring.
He’d loved him for those twelve years he was in Azkaban, even though it killed him a little more each day that he couldn’t stop his feelings for him any more than he could bring Lily, James and Peter back.
He’d loved him with all his heart those few months they’d found each other again after Sirius’s escape and Voldemort’s return. He’d really thought they’d stood a chance. But those damned fates had other plans.
He drank to forget now. If he didn’t, all he saw was Sirius falling backwards through that archway in the old execution room below the ministry, his final smile still spread across his face. It made the hole in his chest wider every time he saw it. So he drank and welcomed oblivion.
He sat on the roof of Grimmauld Place. A spot he and Sirius had spent many evenings over the last year, watching the few stars that London’s light pollution allowed to shine. He raised his eyes to look at them now.
He found Sirius with very little trouble. Always the brightest star in the sky.
“Hello, Padfoot.” He smiled a pained smile up at the star. “I miss you,” He choked out as the tears spilled from his eyes and dripped to the ground below. He picked up the bottle of firewhisky from his side and drank and drank and drank, until nothing remained.
How he didn’t fall from that roof he’d never know. But he stayed there all night until the rising sun winked out Sirius’s star, and he was alone again.
