Simulacra(1, 2, PD) Incorrect Quotes Part 2
These mainly take as if it was somewhat the Content AU(their nicknames, genders, and other) and mixed slightly with canon, depending on the quote. I may do art of them at some point, feel free to do art of them yourself though, if you want, just tag me since I'd want to see it. For context: -The first Simulacra(from Simulacra 1) is nicknamed Phoney. -The second Simulacra(from Simulacra 2) is nicknamed Ripple Man, obv. -The Pipe Dreams Simulacra is nicknamed Flappee. -The MC from the first game is labeled MC 1, MC from the second game being labeled as MC 2. -The MC from Pipe Dreams is labeled MC PD.
Flappee: I woke up and chose VIOLENCE. I WILL COMMIT ARSON AND BURN EVERYTHING TO THE GROUND!!! I AM ANGRY- Teddy: Awwww, you’re so adorable! Give me a hug~ Flappee: Wh-What? nO, yOURE SUPPOSED TO BE SCARED OF ME! TREMBLE BEFORE MY WRATH- MC PD, recording: This is so cute.
Flappee: I dare you to kiss the next person who walks into this room. Teddy: Screw that, I’m not kissing any of you. MC PD walks in Teddy: Fine, I’ll do it. Rules are rules you know.
the Squad cleaning up MC PD: Pick up the nearest piece of trash and throw it away. Flappee, to Teddy: Aight, which bin do you wanna go in—
Arya: Imagine if someone handed you a box full of all the things you lost throughout your life. Rippleman: It would be nice to have my sense of purpose back… Rex: Oh wow, my childhood innocence! Thank you for finding this. Mina: My will to live! I haven't seen this in years. MC 2: I knew I lost that potential somewhere. Maya: Mental stability, my old friend! Arya: Jesus, could you guys lighten up a little?
Mina: Who the fuck added me to a fucking group chat? Maya: >:O language Rippleman: Yeah watch your fucking language Rex: Okay, who taught Rippleman the fuck word?! Arya: 'The fuck word'. MC 2: Are you stupid? You guys use the f word all the time Rippleman: Oh my god they censored it Arya: Say fuck, MC 2. Rippleman: Do it, MC 2. Say fuck.
Arya: Who else is hiding in the laundry room trying to listen to MC 2 and Maya's convo? Mina: Me. I'm in the laundry basket. Rippleman: I'm in the washing machine. Rex: I'm in the closet. Mina: We accept you Rex. <3 Rex: No I'm literally in the closet. Mina: Love is love. <3
Arya: She was poetry, but he couldn't read. MC 2: His name was Jared he's 19. Mina: When his parents built a very strange machine. Rippleman, singing: Watch that scene, digging the dancing queen. Maya, singing: Eyyyy, Macarena! Rex: Horrible job everyone.
Murilo, to Rippleman: Why is MC 2 not talking? Rippleman: I'm playing the silent game with them. Murilo: Well, then you just lost. Rippleman: I lost two hours ago. I gave them ear plugs and told them to close their eyes. It was the only way I could think of to get them to shut up.
MC 2: Why's it called an oven when you of in the cold food and you of out hot eat the food? Murilo: …What???
MC 2: I don’t think we can mansplain, manipulate, or malewife our way out of it this time. Murilo: cracks knuckles Manslaughter it is!
MC PD: I think MC 2 is in trouble. MC 1: Alright. Struggling to give a fuck, if I’m honest.
Rippleman: Hey bro, what do you want to eat? Phoney: The souls of the innocent! Flappee: A bagel. Phoney: No! Flappee: Two bagels.
Flappee: It’s impossible to make a sentence without using the letter A. Phoney: Despite your thinking, it is quite possible, yet difficult, to form one without the specific letter. Here’s one more to further disprove your theory. Rippleman: Fuck you.
Rippleman: Now, Flappee, all of us are doing this because we care about you, okay? Phoney: Except for me. I just wanted to see the look on your face.
Rippleman: Where is everyone? Flappee: Phoney had a nervous collapse, MC 2 is looking after them, MC 1 is trying to kill MC PD, so I’m in charge. Rippleman: Oh my god! Flappee: I know, right?
MC 1: Man, they look like a real handful. How do you deal with them? Phoney, watching Flappee screaming, Rippleman trying to set a sleeping MC PD on fire, and MC 2 choking on air: I don't know either.
Taylor: When Phoney was born, the gods said, "They're too perfect for this world." Anna: Please. When they were born, the devil said, "Oh, competition."
Anna: Hey, check out my Spongebob umbrella! Anna opens their umbrella while indoors Taylor: Anna, that’s bad luck… Anna: Chill out, Taylor! Phoney, kicking down the door: WHO SUMMONED ME?!?! Anna and Taylor: screams
Anna: How do you do that? Taylor: I'm fearless. Phoney: I saw you run from bees yesterday. You flailed around and tripped over a chair. It was both hysterical and sad. Taylor: I'm mostly fearless.
Mina: What do rainbows mean to you? Arya: Gay rights. Rippleman: There's money. Murilo: The sign of God's promise to never destroy the whole Earth with a flood. Rex: It is an optical phenomenon that separates sunlight into its continuous spectrum when the sun shines on raindrops.
Murilo: Anyone d- Arya: Depressed? Rex: Drained? Mina: Dumb? Rippleman: Disliked? Murilo: -done with their work… what is wrong with you people…

Simulacra Salvationist Filene Taylor Reporting for Duty
 Hi there, Everybody,
My name is Filene, and it’s time for the world to have drastic, healing actions, that can inspire and awaken us all. So today is the day I announce my five-pronged strike on the inanimate nations that are attacking animate beings.
The attacks upon Roe vs. Wade, and the American right to privacy, have echoes that afflict everybody with a private life, including all non-cisheteronormative people folk and their families.
Five major goals are of my life at this moment.
1. My adult Queer art. This means NotStung, and Bedtricks. NotStung has always been an attempt to bring about a saved Earth, and a trust to the families involved. A Queer Adult Art company, publishing art, livestreams, and literature of all kinds. “Bedtricks” aka. my furry sona and universe.  I figure me just drawing what I draw or think is cool can be good if you are interested specifically in the angles I pick. Only consenting adults, please.
2. SansIsSleeping. Sans Is Sleeping is an attempt to end annihilationists and dominionists, who are attempting to do the same thing done by the Christian guerilla invaders of ancient Europe, who appropriated and hid as the same Muslim citizens, insidiously taking over the kingdom. We’re not gonna have the clock reset or the game end. A charity organization, though I am still honing our cause, aside from a vigil for those mourning.  Includes SlumbererSentinels as an entertainment stream. An attempt to entertain with UNDERTALE broadcasts, as a speedrunning community. Maybe one day there will be other runs that involve saving a world in other games where folk are sleeping. I don’t know, lol.
3. VANtics. An attempt to allow a nation of nationless people due to the fact they are creating and subjecting themselves to the scripts of other nations and nations they build. What nations? Inanimate nations, creations of art, rules, and ideologies. Inspired by the non-consentual airing of “normative” commercials, internationally.
4. My legal battles against discrimination I’ve received as a member of many different nations.
5. SWDVCUCCoin. also known as “CUC” coin at this stage. It’s a Sex Worker Domestic Violence Credit Union Charity cryptocurrency. That’s right. Sex Workers, for Domestic Violence, forming a currency to fund victims of Domestic Violence, internationally. It’s a big ask.
This is all beside my human, familial, animate obligations. :)
All this is to save the omniverse, my family, our universe, our Earth, and all Creation, under my God, all Gods, and my Creatrix.
I pray I have the time, I pray you all find me.
Let’s take this one day at a time.

Thoughts on fakes being more real than the real thing?
so there's this idea right, from this guy called Baudrillard
no wait don't go
there's this idea from a guy called Jean Baudrillard, of the idea of the hyperreal. Hyperreality, as Big Bauds described it, simplified for handling, is the idea that we live in a world where people interpret signifiers and descriptors for things themselves. That is, that there's a consensus reality of things that exist, but thanks to hyprereality, we live instead surrounded not by real things but by their simulacra.
I wrote about this in the context of Ranma 1/2 a while back (x), but I summarise it as a retreating standard of realness; 'The thing, the representation of the thing, the infinitely reproduceable simulacrum of the thing.' A typwriter, an illustration of a typewriter, an infinitely reproduceable ad in dozens of magazines for that typewriter. The purchaser of that ad, the person who sends in their money is not buying the typwriter, they are buying the reproduced simulacra of the typwriter and you can observe strange tendencies that flow from that. How many people when you ask them about a thing they've purchased or watched or cared about, will quote you stats or taglines from the advertising, and then, if pressed, be unable to explain what they mean?
How many people do you know who love an anime, but when presented with the question of 'should I watch it' would not recommend it because they'd rather talk about the things the anime should have in it or would have in it, whether it's a focus on this minor character or more mecha battles or extensive sister-on-sister inappropriate cuddling?
If you extend this further into the realm of semiotics, you might notice that you tend to exist in a space where you don't engage with real things much at all; there are things at your fingertips, in your house, on your computer that exist, they absolutely do, and you may love them and want to engage with them but only when you do are they there, are they present and exist. There are board games in my collection that I think of fondly with a plan to play them, but I haven't. The game is a hyperreal thing to me at this point, a fantasy of its own significance.
And like, fake what? Fake images? Taylor Swift is already presenting fake images of herself to me all the time, and I'm actively trying to avoid them. Someone drawing her as a pool toy is projecting another, different fake image, but theirs is less authentic because there's no pretense that it's real. One of the fakest things about images and personas is the conception that being real is opposite to being fake, when every fake thing that exists is still real - it still exists. The persona of Taylor Swift is a thing we can all reference, we can all point to it, it doesn't stop being a signifier we can communicate about just because she so obviously is making shit up.
Anyway, maybe.

I want to share a small hypothesis about the world of Simulacra. I have to clarify that I haven't played the third game yet, and got only a couple of endings in the second one, because I can't stand this part. Perhaps somewhere there are direct explicit denials of the following, then take it just as another AU of mine.
So the thought is: what if the characters in these games are living in a simulation?
Let me explain my train of thought. None of the games give us more information about simulacrums than the fact that they are some powerful creatures that love to play around with human destinies. And their most important distinguishing feature is that they are all tightly tied to different kind of technologies. Then the question arises: did they exist before technology? Given HOW MUCH exactly this feature plays a role in the plots of games, I doubt it. However, it means that they were also created by people, which contradicts the fact that only a few units of the population know about them, and then only the very grains. Even the verified methods of destroying creatures do not exist, except for one of the positive ending of the second part, invented in the process.
The only significant thing that the creators gave us on this topic is an article from the second game. It says that the influencer awakened the beast simply by becoming popular. It didn't look like he had summoned a demon with a ritual, it was more like some being was just showing an interest in him. In addition, Charlie himself spoke of this creature as a Deity. And this, after all, correlates with past information - they have repeatedly proved in words and in deeds that in terms of abilities they are MUCH superior to people.
What I try to say is that one of the variations of the theory about our world as a matrix implies that there is a certain superior race that controls this matrix and we are a human zoo for it or something like that. In my version, simulacrum creatures actually are some kind of higher organisms and the world of characters for them is like a fancy board game with a ton of figurines laid out in front of their metaphorical noses. They lived quietly for themselves, and then something took place that irritated them and they began to abuse their little animals in various twisted ways.
Therefore, they do not have a full-fledged physical appearance and communicate only via messages in instant messengers or through human carriers. They are with people on different levels of reality, like pen pals from different cities, with the only difference being that one can kill another using only its will. Therefore, Taylor's consciousness was captured in seconds despite the distance. Therefore, in the bad ending, Teddy can be DELETED from the world. Therefore, Maya saw technical interference in reality, around her.
And you, as a player, are immersed in the shoes of just such a non-playable character, a faceless member of the crowd, who must find a way to agree with someone, who is actually playing here.

Comprehensive Timeline of the Events So Far
it's come to my attention that my old timeline was probably very outdated.
1950s-1970s: MKUltra. Some crazy advancement is made that allows later events to take place.
1992-2001: The Living Brain Project. A multinational team made up of hundreds of researchers - many of them former war criminals from Nazi Germany, Japan, and Spain - is conscripted by the US government for a top-secret project. This project involved creating and then killing 999 Simulacra, and mixing their souls/code together to create an amalgamation called the Living Brain, which was portioned into exactly 14,985 flash drives.
3/30/2008: Years after the project was canned by the government, the Alaskan facility that housed the Living Brain Project is entered again for an unknown purpose.
2008-2009: "C.J.", last name unknown, somehow obtains parts of the Living Brain Project Material and begins using it to develop AI beings for a video game that became known as Urrezko Kaiola.
2009-2011: Urrezko Kaiola is beta tested. There are 28 people known to have been involved with the project, including C.J., Abigail and Caroline Wheeler, Jesus "Carmello" de la Rosa, Ross J. Blackwood, Ashton Alexander, Je-eun and Seo-hyun Park, Sarah Williams, Rose Bennett, Eric Ramirez, Kieran M. Jacobs, Kenneth G. Peterson, Maria and David Taylor, and Joshua Campbell.
Early 2012: Urrezko Kaiola is finished.
November 2012: Sarah Williams is found dead. Coroner's report indicates she was electrocuted, death ruled an accident.
May 2013: Abigail Wheeler goes missing.
1/31/2014: Abigail Wheeler is declared dead.
March 2014: Eric Ramirez is found dead in his house by a mailman with two gunshot wounds, one in his chest and one in his head. Death ruled suicide (how was it ruled a suicide?)
4/13/2014: my sister Caroline Wheeler attempts to murder a man, presumed to be C.J., with an illegally owned pistol, but he survives due to body armor. one onlooker is injured. Caroline is arrested.
June 2014: I inherit my sister Abigail's laptop. On it is a game that I played a lot as a bored young teenager. Only recently did I find out that it was apparently an earlier version of a game that would be released to the public much later (see 9/22/2017)
July 2014: Ross J. Blackwood goes missing. He was declared dead within two weeks of his disappearance (why so fast?)
7/31/2014: Caroline Wheeler is sentenced to 9-13 years in prison + 10 years of probation for attempted murder, aggravated assault, and other charges. She would much later make up a false story that I believed for years that she was falsely convicted for Abigail's disappearance instead.
Sometime in 2014: Ashton Alexander breaks into the complex that houses Urrezko Kaiola. He is caught and arrested, and imprisoned for five to six years for breaking and entering.
Summer 2015: Jesus "Carmello" de la Rosa goes missing. As of writing he has not been declared dead. The California property that houses Urrezko Kaiola's systems is allegedly still registered in his name.
December 2015: Kenneth G. Peterson dies in a shootout with the LAPD after a carjacking turned into a shootout.
May 2016: Rose Bennett goes missing.
July 2017: Maria and David Taylor are killed in a drive-by shooting. No suspects were ever arrested.
9/22/2017: Doki Doki Literature Club!!, a polished version of the horror game I played as a kid, is released. This might have Living Brain involvement as well. It was supposedly made by a guy named Dan Salvato.
Spring 2018: Je-eun and Seo-hyun Park are kidnapped at Jeju International Airport by undercover North Korean agents and smuggled across the border. (were they defectors?)
Summer 2018: An album called Urrezko kaiola is released by a Basque punk rock band. (is this even related? coincidence?) at this point, i'm pretty sure this is not related. but i'm keeping it on the timeline cause i like the song
2019: Kieran M. Jacobs goes missing.
January 2020: Ashton Alexander is released from prison.
3/30/2020: Urrezko Kaiola begins being released for consumption for free on the internet with Chapter Zero. Allegedly this version is "sanitized", lacking many of the more overtly dangerous/potentially supernatural elements of the original version. (similarity with DDLC?)
4/3/2020: Chapter One is released.
4/11/2020: Chapter Two is released.
4/13/2020: I get into contact with Ashton Alexander, the other only beta tester I've yet found besides my sisters.
Also 4/13/2020: Another entry into the former Living Brain Project facility is made.
9/5/2020: Chapter Three is released.
9/19/2020: Chapter Four is released.
September 2020: Ashton begins exhibiting strange behaviors and not answering calls. When he can be heard from, he is incoherent.
October 2020: K begins investigating both the events of Urrezko Kaiola and the Living Brain Project.
12/5/2020: Chapter Five is released.
3/8/2021: Chapter Six is released.
3/11/2021: Another entry to the Living Brain Project facility is made, that cannot be accounted for by K's entries.
9/16/2021: I get burgers with Ashton. He ominously states that he "has to do something" and "has to finish his work" before bolting into traffic. When I finally find him, he's leaning over the bridge. He says that this is the last step he needs to take to be "whole". He implores me to "take notes" and "watch what happens next", before jumping off of the 500' drop off the bridge. His body is never discovered.
Also 9/16/2021: Chapter Seven is released.
February 2022: I begin investigating the strange AI characters in earnest.
11/17/2022: Due to the degradation of the platform under Elon Musk, the Urrezko Kaiola characters stage a mass exodus of Twitter (now known as X).
12/4/2022: I create this Tumblr account.
8/21/2023: Chapter Eight is released.

The Simulacra: What can you show me that I don't already know?
Pretender: It's all just a game, just a simulator of a lost broken phone.
Pretender: Anna and Taylor don't exist as they are.
Pretender: And you don't exist either, you're just a few predictable text lines with a glitchy voice.
The Simulacra: What the fuck are you talking about.

big simulacra spoilers under the cut
Ok, so we know Simulacra is very much about people not being what they seem and critiquing the internet...
...But could we talk about how it's also about everyone deserving a second chance no matter what? Cuz I don't ever see people talking about that.
In the first simulacra game, Taylor is a registered sex offender. And while only you can choose to believe whether it is true or not, the game makes you see that Taylor deserves a second chance at living as much as Anna does.
In Simulacra Pipe Dreams, you can see how your friend [I FORGOT HIS NAME I'M SORRY] has his struggles with addiction, and throughout the entire game you are made to try and save someone who before you never even knew.
And oh boy, Simulacra 2. Let's get a rundown on that!
There is the detective, who has stolen shit just to give the case a second chance [You see what I did there?] at a real resolution, who is then given a second chance by the department in the middle of the game after they find out, and you want to make sure this man's second chance goes well because you know him.
There's Rex, who literally has a pyramid scheme and knew what he was doing was completely wrong.
There's Mina, who lied about seeing ""her best friend"" die in a car crash. And there is also the whole "selling trauma" thing.
There is Arya too, who faked being an ambassador for Aluren. I'm 99% sure there's more than that but unfortunately my memory is trash and I'm going off the wiki which is quite bare bones.
But, in the end, the three above friends of Maya aren't just heartless people. You see how much they cared for Maya, whether it's them saying it themselves or through the actions you can see. In fact, them all blaming each other for her death probably is mostly because they actually cared.
In the end, literally the best ending is to save them all. You are still made to want to save them, no matter how awful the people may be.
Also, TRM and the ripple man literally both are proposing second chances to people. A second chance at popularity, a second chance at a better reality, do you see where I am coming from with the claim that this entire series is about second chances?
I may be wrong, and Simulacra 3 will come unto my world and shatter that idea. But from where I see, the biggest things about this story is the worst of humanity, but also the best of it still being in there, and the only steps one can take being the next.

Reading Reflection 1
“News Images on Instagram” by Eddy Borges-Ray
As social media transitions from a way to stay connected to friends from afar to a modern-day alternate reality, the controversial concept of citizen journalism comes more and more into the spotlight. Eddy Borges-Ray’s 2015 article News Images on Instagram: the Paradox of Authenticity in Hyperreal Photo Reportage explains why citizen accounts on social media both contributes to and detracts from the field of professional photojournalism. The same poor practices that are outlawed in professional work earn citizen reporters merit; Pixelation, strange framing, blur, and shakey video earn Instagram users the certificate of presence. Citizen photojournalism competes with professional work to earn the praise of viewers. Bystanders are able to capture a moment as it happened, offering viewers the chance to feel like they witnessed history, whereas professionals offer viewers something different entirely. Their shots expand on what is already written and are set up in a way that it logical, photographically critical, and ethical. Borges-Ray’s article delves into the possibility that Instagram journalism may someday become a standard professional work can’t compete with, and how this may result in our lives becoming totally hyperrealistic.
The contents of Borges-Ray’s article become increasingly relevant as social media gains prevalence in the everyday lives of citizens. Baudrillard’s theories on simulacrum and hyperreality provide more insight into the phenomena described in Borges-Ray’s article. Baudrillard explains how the postmodern human experience has become so engrossed in simulacra that it is a hyperrealistic simulation of reality. Real life has become replaced by false realities to such an extent that real and unreal reality are undistinguishable. This applies to the conveyance of news online by citizen journalists. Social applications form a “digital world” that is distinctly different from real life; users spend time and money modeling a digital self that may or may not reflect their real persona. Citizen photojournalism is associated with this intangible online reality as it perpetuates the overt desensitization of real-life occurrences. As humanity becomes closer to a completely online reality, journalism becomes less significant.
The idea of did it really happen if you didn’t Instagram it has become quite literal, to the point where photos on socials are not only more believable than bona fide journal articles, but more accessible, too. I have definitely fallen victim to the allure of firsthand accounts posted to apps like Instagram and Twitter. It is tempting to believe media and reports simply because they look authentic, even if they haven’t undergone the strict vetting process inherent to professional work. To me, Borges-Ray’s article is an eloquent argument for the case of the professional photographer. He enlightens readers like myself who may have been sucked into an untrue virtual reality by warning them to stay in tune with journalism and be cautious about everything seen in the hyperreal online world.

I feel bad that I couldn't return Ashley's feelings, I was straight in that life and it was pretty awkward for a while, especially since the player character made it seem like I liked her back (I don't blame them for that, it was part of the reason why they were able to save mine and Taylor's life). But yeah, explaining everything was not fun. But we worked things out and she supported my relationship with Taylor too, I just feel sad for her looking back on it. -Anna (Simulacra) #🌙🌹🐚

Hurray! I’m so glad that Anna and Taylor can be saved :D
Tumblr media
“You wanna go home? Do you wanna get coffee first?” Oh, Taylor...
Tumblr media
“Too soon. Okay, let’s get you home first.” That’s right!

My headcanon is that when Anna got home, she called Ashley and realized that she was actually in love with Ashley too, and they got together!  (Screenshots are from Swingpoynt’s Let’s Play here.)

Am I the only one who things Taylor from Simulacra is a cutie? His humor is great and his picture is super adorable. When I played through, he’s the one I tried to save. ^.^
