One of the little downsides of stimming by pacing I don’t hear people talking about often is that, if you don’t like wearing shoes more than necessary like me, you go through a ton of socks. I go through at least one pair of socks a week.

(And no, grippy house socks are sadly not exempt from this, though they do usually last longer than normal socks)

I’ve started buying only solid colour white and black socks so that if one sock in a pair gets holes in the sole (which is the most common way they ‘break’ for me) I can keep the non-holey one and later pair it with other left over socks, but even that doesn’t work in the long term.

Like, I guess it’s better to for it to happen to those socks than for it to happen to my actual feet but it’s still really frustrating, and it gets super expensive over time.

Sorry for disappearing, was busy working on next language in the Seraphic family, Ireturish! I had a lot of fun with this one, got to do a lot of new stuff with this like vowel harmony and formality registers. It uses a modified version of the shorthand Seraphic script which (mostly) lacks the segmenting and puts each syllable in a new block. Here's a translation of the UDHR, more info below:

I am reminded of how Jorie shepherded us, her poetry students, through the pandemic, how she stayed on Zoom for hours and hours afraid that without the container of the Zoom room—that strange digital sociality we’ve all gotten to know and even now cannot shake—we would all fall to pieces. In the early pandemic days she made us memorize tons of poetry to keep our minds occupied, so that our brains would be filled with poetry instead of thoughts of corpses. When I saw Sherah and Emma this week I reminded them of the last time we all saw Jorie: we had ordered pizza for our poetry workshop. I squirted hand sanitizer in everyone’s hands and joked about how it was liquid gold. Jorie said, This will probably be the last time we see each other. Everyone thought she was crazy except me (I was an early prepper), just like everyone thought I was crazy when I was saying, in the two months leading up to the war, that Russia would invade Ukraine. (But maybe it can all be chalked up to the broken clock of the catastrophizing mind being right twice a day?) Who doesn’t have metaphysical whiplash being alive in these times?

Escenario: Gremio Maestro

El Gremio Maestro es un lugar bullicioso y vibrante, lleno de promesas de aventuras y peligros. Situado en el corazón de una ciudad próspera, su fachada de piedra antigua y sus altos ventanales dan la bienvenida a los aspirantes a aventureros que buscan unirse a sus filas. En el interior, el aire está impregnado de emoción y anticipación, mientras los aventureros novatos se apresuran a registrarse y los veteranos comparten historias de hazañas pasadas.

En el mostrador central, una joven semi-elfa llamada Jahnise recibe a los visitantes con una sonrisa cálida y amigable.
