Something that compels me so much about Maglor/Luthien is that if you change Beren with Maglor, the quest for the silmaril becomes so much more juicy
Because, yeah, on one hand it's still a suicide quest designated to either make Maglor give up Luthien or die in the process of the quest, thus freeing Luthien.
But on the other hand, this is Maglor's family treasure he is asking as bride price (which also makes it an actually accurate as a bride price is supposed to be something the groom's family already has yk), Thingol is asking Maglor to give him the whole reason the Feanorians even left Aman in the first place, the thing Feanor died trying to re-take, the reason he has been fighting for years.
Not to mention that depending on how you decide to read the oath, Thingol is asking him to not only curse himself but his entire family for Luthien, asking him if a life with Luthien is worth eternal damnation.

If other people aren’t gonna draw these three together, I’ll do it myself!! The ship name should prolly be plant based, I just haven’t figured it out yet. But like, Luigi is green, Daisy is named Daisy, and Peasley gave Luigi the rose. So like. Nature theme.
Anyways I love this ship and if I have to be the only one to draw them then so be it.
(reblogs with tags/comments are appreciated. Thankyuuu)

anyone else kinda disappointed lucie’s powers never got a grand reveal or even much acknowledgement throughout the last hours? especially in chain of thorns with the final battle and what she did to save everyone…she is often just completely overlooked and it really grates me.
from the very start of chain of gold, all the focus was on james’ shadow powers. and then lucie called an entire freaking river of ghosts to save cordelia … and all we got was magnus looking at her intently and jesse later telling her he answered her call. not one real bit of acknowledgment from her friends. and i was hoping that part of lucie’s arc would be frustration at being the “second herondale” sibling, living in her brother’s shadow, embracing her power and eventually telling everyone the truth about her powers and having them realise oh shit, lucie is powerful, she’s been powerful this whole time, arguably even more powerful than james…but literally like none of her friends acknowledge it at all and it’s so frustrating to me as a big lucie fan :/. like home girl has called on and commanded LEGIONS of ghosts, she brought someone back to life for crying out loud, and it’s NEVER ACKNOWLEDGED PROPERLY and it’s so annoying to me !!!!! to clarify i do not hate james at all or anything, just that there was SO much focus on his shadow shifting ability, what about lucie’s power over the dead huh??!
the lack of a grand reveal just felt so anticlimactic and frustrating. outside of jesse, malcolm, and idek grace it’s like no one even cared. except cordelia who felt upset lucie couldn’t open up to her about it (and like on the one hand ok i get the whole secrets thing is the driving force of the plot & ig i’d be a bit upset if my best friend hid something massive from me, BUT at the same time i’d be like ok, so given what we’re discussing here (necromancy) i guess that’s kinda valid why you felt the need to hide that and also wow you’re insanely powerful?) also why did lucie’s adoration of cordelia feel one-sided,
anyway some random thoughts, i just feel like lucie is never given enough credit for how powerful she is and all she did in the series, away from the limelight. i was soo hyped for a herondale woman but she was just not respected enough !

It’s an ordinary day. There isn’t any chaos for once. Vash is enjoying his donuts, while Meryl is enjoying her ceylon tea. Maybe Milly’s outside fixing the camera.
Milly and Meryl are going back to No Man’s Land Broadcasting’s main office. It might be a while since they’ll next see Vash for their segment.
Right after she finishes her tea, Meryl says: “I’m off to work, Vash.” (“Ittekimasu, Vash-san.”)
And quick as anything, all casual-like, without even thinking about it, Meryl kisses him on the lips. Just a peck, she just plants one on him. Vash freezes. Meryl withdraws and she’s talking normally saying something about how many days it’ll take for them to reach headquarters, until she just…stops. Processes what she just did.
For one long moment, Vash and Meryl just stare at each other, until Meryl lets out an unholy shriek and starts blabbing out apologies for what she did. She’s sorry for taking advantage and she doesn’t know what came over her. She buries her face in her hands because she can’t bear to look at him, and she already said she didn’t want him to think crying was the only thing she could do. But she really can’t help the tiny tears because she doesn’t want to see that soft apologetic look as if not wanting to break her heart. She wishes she had Jessica’s optimism or Luida’s fortitude. Fistbumping him would have been less mortifying.
Because she has her face hidden, she doesn’t see Vash’s face slowly turning crimson, mouth gaping. But seeing how tightly Meryl is bunching her fists together, he grows concerned. Slowly, he approaches her, tries to softly remove her hands so he can see her eyes. At first there’s resistance, but Meryl eventually gives way. His eyes soften at seeing her blushing and embarrassed and holding back tears. He hesitates at first. The moment he moves closer, Meryl instinctively backs away slightly, but he crouches and looks at her imploringly. Even though he’s taller than her, it’s as if he’s looking up at her to ask for something. Again, she gives in. She stands her ground but screws her eyes shut instead. Vash can’t help the soft giggle which makes Meryl open her eyes to narrow them at him. Vash smiles, and hand cradling her face, quick as anything, all casual-like, he pecks her sweetly, just one soft touch, lips to lips.
Vash: “Have a safe trip, Meryl.” (“Itterasshai, Meryl.”)
Meryl releases an awed sigh, before she’s matching Vash’s smile with her own.
(And off to the side, Milly is keeping down her squeals as she tapes everything for posterity. She’s sure senpai and Vash-san will thank her for it later.
Little does she know, she was actually broadcasting live, and thus births NMLB’s most popular program to date, hidden-footage style outtakes where after the official program on Vash the Stampede, TV watchers get to see the aforementioned outlaw and the investigative journalist tailing him being sweet on each other. Meryl doesn’t have a clue. Milly doesn’t have a clue. She just keeps rolling the cam. A particular fave was when she caught them cuddling with Vash’s arms around Meryl as she dozed on his shoulder. The after program does wonders for Vash’s reputation. He’s now the most Wanted by teenage hearts all over No Man’s Land. Parents are suing NMLB since their kids are suddenly saying they want to set off to find their own outlaw sweetheart. Everyone who knows them is livid that this is how they get confirmation of their will-they-won’t-they. Vash, Meryl, and Milly still don’t have a clue.)

If you dont mind me asking, on which season of 2012 tmnt are you at?
It’s been a while since I’ve been able to sit down and watch but I’m pretty sure I’m at some point in season 2? So still a long way to go but admittedly I’ve already been spoiled on more than one thing haha. I like the characters a lot though, they’re very prickly and react to things a lot more realistically than I thought they would.

I wonder what Kyoko would've thought of Shigure. She's the only non-Sohma adult who's also in his age group (albeit barely - she's about a decade older than him) and I feel like her optimism combined with her no-nonsense sensibilities would've been an interesting foil to Shigure's morally grayness hidden under a cheerful exterior.
They probably could have bonded over pursuing socially unacceptable relationships and being outcasts in their family (if Shigure was ever able to be even slightly honest with her, that is). I don't think they'd have hung out often, but in a Kyoko Lives AU where Tohru befriends Kyo and Yuki, it's likely they would've had to meet at least once or twice. I can't tell if they'd like each other or if it'd be more of a "polite acquaintances" sort of thing.

Reading He Who Drowned the World and honestly Baoxiang has no right to be as bitchy as he is about Ouyang squandering Esen's love or whatever. Baoxiang is genuinely convinced that Esen loathes him. No you dumb bitch, your brother loves you and the reason he's giving you a hard time is because he wants you to be safe and happy and healthy. Yeah, he sucks at expressing it, and his efforts are misguided (bc the toxic masculinity gender rolesis fucking up Esen as much as it's fucking up everyone else), but Esen very much does love Baoxiang deeply. Every time Baoxiang remembers a time when Esen "enjoyed his fear" or whatever, I can only think of these parts of Esen's POV from the first book:
Tumblr media
Esen's first instinct is to defend his brother. The only reason he doesn't is bc Baoxiang leaves before he can. And Baoxiang glares at him bc he assumes that Esen agrees with Altan and won't defend him, but no, Esen WANTED to defend him and it's Baoxiang that took away his oportunity to do so.
Tumblr media
And a bit later, we have this interaction. Baoxiang assumes (again) that Esen would hate him if he was gay, and immediately goes on the defensive. Meanwhile, Esen literally does not care about this except for how it would affect his brother's reputation. He's just WORRIED. He doesn't care if Baoxiang is gay or whatever, but he's deeply aware that if he IS it would put him in more danger. Because, again, he cares about his brother, and he hates seeing what he assumes is Baoxiang making his own life harder.
And it's heartbreaking bc Baoxiang will probably never realize how much Esen adores him. He's so jealous of Ouyang for having his brother's heart without realizing that Esen sees him as his beloved baby brother and is desperately trying to protect him from a world that he KNOWS is cruel to him. Baoxiang will never know that his greatest supporter and the only person that loved him unconditionally was Esen. And maybe it would be WORSE if he realized how dear he was to Esen, because the realization that all thise things that caused him pain were borne out of a deep, unconditional LOVE and not the disdain he's convinced himself Esen felt for him might break him. Baoxiang has deluded himself into simplifying Esen's feelings for him into those of hate and disdain because its so much harder to accept that the person you love the most has destroyed you out of love. Baoxiang is doing the exact same thing Ouyang does in convincing himself that he's unlovable and relishing in the world's response as a form of self-harm. And Esen, who is genuinely trying (and floundering horribly) is a great tool for Baoxiang to use to tear himself apart.
And, on the other hand, Esen will never realize how much damage his attempts to help Baoxiang caused. He loves him so much, bc that's his baby brother! It's his job to protect him! But Esen has been raised as the golden poster child of a Mongol Warrior Man, a perfect pinacle of masculinity, and is thus doomed to only being able to express his love and acceptance for Baoxiang through a tough love, lets sand down all the edges to remove friction approach. For him, pushing Baoxiang into a box IS an act of love. It's the act of saying I love and accept you, and so I will help you succeed in all the things you're bad at so that everyone will love you too. Except by doing this, he doesn't realize how awful he's being and how he's asking someone that CANT ever fit the mold to break himself in the attempt. He's a perfect Mongol Warrior Man after all, and as such he has never been given the tools to express his affection in a healthy way. He will never truly understand how much he's an asshole, not because he is lacking in love (as Baoxiang assumes) or because he is incapable of sympathizing (as ouyang thinks), but because understanding is not something allowed of him and his role in society. At the end of the day, Esen is as much a slave to his role as all the other characters are, and now he's dead he will never be able to break free of the assumptions people have made of him. He went to his grave having destroyed the people he loved most, and now he will never have the chance to prove their assumptions wrong as be better.
