2.
I was never a doubtful child because I enjoyed being Seventh Day Adventist for the most part. I didn’t like not being able to eat certain things or go to friends birthday parties on Saturdays but by the time I was in middle school I didn’t really care about any of that. Something happened in and around the 6th grade— I don’t know if it was the change in demographic of my church which comes with a change in beliefs and practices, but i remember getting like 20x more religious somehow. I became vegetarian in the 7th grade, I decided to be homeschooled for 8th grade, I (for a short period of time) started dressing a little more modestly.
I do remember that i had an older friend form church — I think in the 7th grade she started teaching me how to use my violin which turned into weekly Bible and Ellen g white literature study. I think at the time she was in college— definitely out of high school (homeschool) so at least 20. I think that made me more religious too— feeling connected to someone and being told how I’m “different” and really kind of one of the good ones (™️) from someone who was young and beautiful and kind. She used to tell me that when she was young (so long ago) she had “lost her way” and done something bad (so bad she wouldn’t say what it was and didn’t think it was funny to guess) and then somehow in that realized she needed to come back to god and get rebaptized. I was always wondering what that was.
But yes I think that’s what it was— the church got kind of conservative overall with all these new people. We had youth meetings where we would be told that somehow drums and the vibrations / frequencies were related to Satan and the end times. How the dinosaur bones were propaganda. There was a sermon where I know I wasn’t listening because I and most other people knew it was crazy , but there was this PowerPoint slide up with 2 pictures crossed out: a pile of flour and the pope. And if you don’t know we think the pope is the antichrist. Or at least I did.
I wasn’t like 100% down with everything— a big part of adventism is arguing in Bible study so no one’s expecting you to agree with everything— but I was in as deep as I could allow because I wanted to be. My family was well liked, I had a lot of friends, and there were a lot of people who really liked me and loved to tell me I was Better than the other kids (sorry to break it to them). So it was like not even a problem— I was pretty happy like that.

Submission Form
I think most of y'all kinda know the drill here. Submit as many denominations as you want (INDIVIDUALLY), but don't spam the form.
This poll is for PROTESTANT denominations and sub-denominations. Do not submit catholicism, JWs, or Mormons. This poll can also include "non-denominational" organizations so long as they have multiple churches and a distinct interpretation of faith. For example, the IBLP and the New Independent Fundamentalist Baptists can be submitted.
You can also submit denominations just because they suck and you want to see them beaten into the ground.
Here's the link. I'll be taking Top 32 make it into the bracket. The submission form will remain open until I feel that response is sufficient (so probably like 2000 responses).

I've seen other asks, I'm a system and ex sda as well, do you think Seventh Day Adventists do programming and ritual abuse, intentionally or otherwise? Never thought to frame it like that but I was severely traumatized by that church growing up,developed severe scrupulosity ocd :/
The Seventh Day Adventists are considered a cult. They use methods of indoctrination and spiritual control.
There are some concerns about what occurs in the church.
“Unfortunately, violence against women is also prominent and an issue in the Church. The Seventh-day Adventist Church may be, both especially prone to domestic violence cases and yet have a protective measure at the same time. This is explained by the fact that domestic violence is said to be more common in small, theologically conservative religious groups. At the same time, domestic violence is twice as likely in families where the spouses belong to different religions. Given the low rate of Adventists marrying outside of their faith, this is likely a protective barrier. However, a random sample study conducted in 2006 of 1,431 Seventh-day Adventists from 70 churches across a five state region, found that 46% of survey participants reported that they experienced common couple violence, 29% reported experiencing sexual violence, while 10% reported severe physical violence. Though Dr. Williams shared several statistical figures, he emphatically declared, “the bottom line is [that] sexual harassment is common.” Source

Spitballing here. As someone who grew up Christian, I was severely disappointed that whenever I prayed to Jesus that my prayers were never answered.
Now (mostly) healed from my religious trauma, I kind of had an a-ha moment. What if Jesus doesn't answer prayers from those who don't worship Him/His religion correctly?
I DO NOT mean what day one worships Him or how one is baptized or what version of the Bible is read. What I DO MEAN is how one uses the religion of Jesus. Do you better yourself, others, and the world? Or do you use it as an excuse to be bigoted and a piece of shit?
I was raised through the SDA (Seventh Day Adventists) sect where we're taught that gay marriage is a sin, trans people are p3d0s, Catholics and Jews are inherently wrong, people of color are inferior, modern medicine is always wrong, etc.
Because of these beliefs and the fact I was indoctrinated (I use this term bc I truly believe that SDA is a cult), I too was a piece of shit during that part of my life. It's vulnerable to admit this as the internet likes to hold people accountable to an extreme, but when I was younger, I absolutely was homophobic, transphobic, racist, and all of that.
So no wonder Jesus never answered my prayers or the prayers of my relatives and the prayers of the church I attended. It seemed as though nothing was ever done because none of our prayers were ever answered. Because we were using Jesus as an excuse to be terrible and horrible human beings.
At least, that's my take on it. What are other people's thoughts on this?
If I said something incorrectly or something needs to be clarified or said better, please let me know.
TLDR: I am NOT saying that Christianity as a whole is invalid. I'm saying that my current theory is that Jesus/God doesn't answer prayers or stay active in the churches, sects, and people who use Him and His words to hurt others. Jesus invalidates the Christianity that is used incorrectly and supports the Christianity that is used correctly. And my definition of correct/incorrect is on moral standings (bigotry, homophobia, transphobia, racism, etc.) and not differences in religious practices.

Seemingly the FBI didn't consider that an outfit that had stockpiled military-grade weapons and military-issue food rations might possibly have also stockpiled gas masks, but live and learn, right?

Watching Youtube while I work: Conspiracy theories and me
youtube
I work from home, and while working from home the first thing I learned about working from home, is I could distract myself. Distract myself, by doing the actual things I wanted to spend my time doing. Things like, watching Youtube videos, from documentaries, to concerts, Dj mixes, and visual essays. One of my go to channels is acid marxists archive of old Chapo Trap House episodes. This episode stood out for a few reasons firstly this is Matt Christman, and a mic giving us a witty, enlightened and original perspective of the place that conspiracy theories hold and have held in modern life. This had me thinking of the personal way conspiratorial thought has shaped my own life. Growing up in a Seventh Day Adventist home where the conspiracy was and continues to be central to the SDA mindset. I grew up with whispers of New World Orders, Illuminati's and Cabals. What Matt attempts is not to disprove or prove this isn't to change peoples minds. Its simply to contextualize how this rots political discourse, and erodes the peoples ability to bring to speak truth to power. At least that is my humble take
