"Wow," he said, his voice low and filled with admiration. He walked over to you, wrapping an arm around your waist. "You look amazing," he whispered, giving you a playful wink.

Jeonghan was lounging on a beach chair, chatting with friends when you arrived in your bikini. His conversation stopped mid-sentence as he saw you. A slow, teasing grin spread across his face. "Well, look at you," he said, his voice full of playful charm. "You sure you're not trying to steal all the attention today?" He winked at you, clearly impressed.

Joshua had been setting up a beach umbrella when you walked over in your bikini. He looked up and immediately blushed, his cheeks turning a shade of pink. "Oh, um, wow," he stammered, trying to find his words. "You look great!" He smiled warmly, his shyness only adding to his charm. "You ready for a fun day at the beach?"

Jun was talking to some friends when you arrived in your bikini. He turned to greet you, and his eyes widened in surprise. A slow, appreciative smile crossed his lips. "Well, someone looks incredible," he said, his voice low and smooth. He walked over to you, wrapping an arm around your shoulders. "Ready to have some fun?"

Wonwoo was reading a book under the shade of a beach umbrella when you approached in your bikini. He glanced up and did a double-take, his eyes lingering for a moment. A shy smile spread across his lips. "You look really good," he said, his voice soft but sincere. He gestured for you to sit beside him. "Come relax with me for a bit?"

Woozi was setting up a cooler when you walked over in your bikini. He looked up and immediately blushed, his usual composure faltering for a moment. "Oh, um, hi," he said, trying to regain his cool. "You look, uh, great." He scratched the back of his head, clearly flustered. "Let's, um, let's find a good spot to set up our things."

DK was laughing with some friends when you arrived in your bikini. He turned to greet you, and his eyes widened in surprise. "Whoa!" he said, his voice filled with genuine excitement. "You look amazing!" He pulled you into a hug, his enthusiasm contagious. "Ready for some fun? Let's go swim!"

Mingyu was setting up a beach grill when you walked over in your bikini. He glanced at you and did a double-take, a big grin spreading across his face. "Wow," he said, his voice filled with admiration. "You look incredible!" He wrapped an arm around you, pulling you close. "Come on, let's get this party started!"

The8 was practicing tai chi on the beach when you arrived in your bikini. He glanced at you and gave you a warm smile, his eyes filled with appreciation. "You look beautiful," he said, his voice calm and soothing. He walked over to you, taking your hand. "Shall we go for a walk along the beach?"

Wonwoo sighs rubbing at the bridge of his nose. He was playing sims on your laptop and your sims were pissing him off by not following the plot he made for them.

“Babe your sims are stupid. Especially the guy. He’s really hard headed” he says shaking his head. You giggle putting the fresh cup of tea next to him on the desk

“You do know the guy is based off you right?” You ask picking up one of the kittens you just adopted

“Really? No wonder he looks familiar” Wonwoo says squinting causing you to giggle again

“I’ve already told you I made us sim characters” you say sitting on your bed playing with the baby kitten

“You did I just forgot I’m sorry sweetheart” he says sipping from the cup of tea

Wonwoo paused the game to look at you. He watched as you put the kitten on two legs and made it dance. Clicking your tongue and singing it a song. Wonwoo smiled chuckling lowly to himself

“My name is baby cat and I like to dance” you sing wiggling it’s little body. It looked over at wonwoo before letting out a small “meow”

“So what’re we going to eat for dinner?” He asks

“Uh sleep. I didn’t think you were staying so I was gonna just go to bed” you say putting the cat on the bed allowing it to get comfortable on one of the pillows

“I told you stop going to bed without eating. What do you want to eat?” He asks turning to the computer and continues the game

“Can we go get barbecue? Please!?” You ask excitedly

“We can get whatever you want sweetheart” he says never taking his eyes off the bright screen

“Yay! Ou! What am I going to where?! Babe! Skirt or jeans!?” You shout from your closet

“Jeans!” He shouts back

“But I want to wear a skirt” you say pouting looking at a baby blue skirt

“Well wear the skirt” he says

“I don’t know” you mumble but he heard you

“Does it matter? Your outfit is just gonna end up on the floor anyway” he says making you peek out the closet smirking at him

“What you trynna say?” You ask wiggling your eyebrows. He looks over at you before slightly blushing and looking back at the screen

“N-nothing like that! You just have a habit of throwing your clothes on the floor” he says scratching his head

“Awww you want to see me with my clothes off!!” You say running over to him pulling at his cheeks

“Geesh Yn! I did not mean it like that” he says chuckling

“Yeah yeah yeah what ever you say” you say smirking and walking back to the closet.

After another 20 minutes of searching for something to wear, you get dressed and were walking out the door.

Instead of driving or taking a can, you and wonwoo walk seeing as it wasn’t that far from your apartment.

Wonwoo smiled over at you as you ramble about the things you were going to eat once you reached to place.

“And we have to grab some beef for baby kitten and I want Ddukbokki and some dumplings-I hope I’m not Being greedy” you say mumbling looking off to the side

Wonwoo chuckles before putting a hand on top of your head running his hand through your braids that weren’t in the claw clip

“Get you some food to go too because I know you’ll forget to eat tomorrow” he says

“Hey!! It’s not my fault! I’m a very busy girl” you say crossing your arms as you reach the restaurant doors

“I know sweetheart” wonwoo says opening the door for you and you go in requesting a table.

After five minutes of waiting you both were seated and you immediately order because you Already know what you want.

Wonwoo sat quietly watching as you tell your waiter the things you wanted.

“And, babe you want a water?” You ask

“A waters fine” he says nodding

“A lemonade for me and water for him” you say ordering for him. Wonwoo didn’t mind, he likes the fact that you know what he likes.

While waiting for your food you and wonwoo make conversation about your job and the new album seventeen just dropped

“Oh yeah and my favorite song is I don’t under but I love you! When I tell you Hoshi CARRIED that song! And the sped up version on tik tok?!?! Oh I love that song” you say stuffing a spoon full of rice into your mouth

Wonwoo couldn’t help but chuckle as you expressed your excitement about the album.

“Oh shit I’m rambling again, I’m sorry is there anything you want to talk about baby?” You ask flipping the meat on the tiny grill

“No I’m fine sweetheart, I like listening too you” he says smiling. You return the smile and nod.

You continue to talk about everything you wanted to talk to him about. He nods every now and then letting you know he was listening.

As always wonwoo just listens but then gets distracted as he starts to give you a one over. Staring at your wide brown eyes as you get excited talking about how you wanted to go shopping for your new kitten.

Eyes dropping down to your cute button nose that was shinning from the pink highlight you applied before leaving the house.

Then his eyes dropping down to his favorite feature. Your lips. Your plump brown lips shinning from the brown and pink gloss you wore.

“Maybe I’ll get her a- why are you staring at me?” You say stopping your sentence

“Your just beautiful” he says leaning over to kiss your cheek.

You look over at him with a shocked but goofy look on your face

“Well thank you!” You say before turning and pecking his lips. Now it was his turn to give you a goofy shocked look

“Your so goofy Yn” he says chuckling

“What!? You started it” you say digging back into your food.

Wonwoo chuckles before grabbing your hand under the table.

You look over at him smiling as you grab his too.

“I love you” he mouths

“I love you too” you mouth back with food still in your mouth

“Ewww Yn!” He says giggling making you giggle too

Seungcheol:

Honestly I think he’d find it so sweet and adorable he wouldn’t know how to react. He would absolutely love it and praise you. Telling you how good it tastes, that this was better than anything he ever ate and he would try to explain why he liked it so much. That would be very cute though because he has no idea what he is talking about yet tries to sound like a chef cook.

Jeonghan:

Jeonghan would love it for sure, this boy loves food and loves you so the two things combined would be heaven to him. He would make jokes or whine about really little things like you not giving him his favorite spoon or something like that. But he would love the food. Might get a little insecure though because the way you show him love is so great, he might be afraid his love language is lame or isn’t as great as yours. Watch him brag to the other guys about his gf/bf cooking for him though.

Joshua:

Loves it so much tbh. Will eat it with a smile on his face, gets really blushy and will talk in his soft honey voice. Will tell you how delicious it is. Watch him brag to everyone who doesn’t ask tbh. He’s just so proud to be your bf. Someone: “Hi.” Joshua: “Did you know my gf/bf cooked my favorite meal for me. Best thing I ever ate.”

Junhui:

Gets all excited. Would hug the shit out of you while cooking and after. Will set the table all fancy with candles and stuff to also do something for you. Will talk about dessert with a smirk on his face. Praising champion. Makes sure that at the end of the night you feel like a chef cook because of all his praising.

Soonyoung:

120% supportive af. He absolutely loves it when you cook for him and would cheer you on like some kind of cheerleader, dancing and jumping. Well that is until it takes too long. 10 minutes in and he would be sitting on a chair browsing through his phone until you are done. Still really loves it though and will be sure to tell you.

Wonwoo:

Quiet, but makes sure to tell you how great he finds it and how delicious it is. Will absolutely love the fact you made so much effort for him and will definitely try to repay you in a way.

Jihoon:

Will get really shy, absolutely loving that you cooked for him but would have no idea what to say. He wouldn’t be able to express the fact that he loves it, but lowkey gets very emotional whenever he thinks about it. Will alway try to bring it up in conversations just so he can proudly say that his gf/bf cooked for him.

Seokmin:

I think he actually loves cooking for you as well so he would surprise you with your favorite meal sometimes as well. Whenever you cook when he’s around he would do anything to help which might be annoying sometimes because, though his intentions are sweet, he literally is in the way the entire time. I think that you should surprise him with it and cook for him whenever he isn’t home until dinner time. But he would love it, the biggest smile would be glued on his face and he would probably make some excited noises. He would love it and compliment you on your cooking, saying this is the best thing he ever tasted.

Mingyu:

Would love it and enjoy it to the fullest. But he would give criteria, telling you what you could improve on etc. Like with Seokmin, I feel like he would enjoying cooking for you as well and would love cooking together.

Minghao:

Supportive bf #1. Honestly loves it and will keep telling you to a point where you might start thinking he’s not being honest. But watch him being dead honest about it. “remember when you cooked for me last week? That was the best meal I ever had.”

Seungkwan:

We all know how much he loves food, and food made by you? Would be heavenly for him tbh. He’d love it so much, may actually cry. Will have critique, but will tell you what he loves about it as well. Will tell you it tastes just like it did back in Jeju or smth this boy is obsessed with his hometown so prepare. But honestly, he would absolutely love it.

Vernon:

Will tell you how great you are over and over and over. Loves this way of showing affection, mainly because he can eat something but also loves how cute you look as you present it to him. Asks you if you could cook him that meal on his birthday as well.

Will do anything to repay you after you give him such a wonderful gift. Will keep talking about it and keep telling you how great and amazing you are for being able to kook so well. Will 100% brag about you to the guys.

A New Seed

Characters: Astrid Beck, Luc Brenatto, Caleb Widogast

------

A flash in her periphery is her only warning before a crossbow bolt appears out of nowhere. Just in time, Astrid flings up her shield, a follow up spell dancing on her finger tips, every sense alert.

Had they been found? Where there others? Who had-

"Wow, that was so cool!"

The high chirp sounds from her right, and half hidden in the leaves, she spots the head of the small halfling boy.

With a soft curse, Astrid lets the disintegrate spell fizzle.

"I can see you, you know," she snaps angrily. She ignores the responding "aww" with a roll of her eyes, and forces her quickened breath back under control. No child in Blumenthal would have been able to get away with such behaviour.

She sighs and leans back against the tree, idly spinning her dagger in her hand. The muscles of her underarm are tense, the unreleased arcane energy crackling through the crystals. Sure, the child might have been harmless, but another Volstrucker could sneak up at any moment. She wouldn't put it past her late master to have prepared a fail-safe, and given her fellow Volstrucker orders in case Bren proved more than they could handle. Master Ikithon always had a plan. He should not be underestimated, even with his hands bound and his voice silenced.

The dagger is light as it dances between her fingers. The aasimar protecting Ikithon would not be able to stop her if she forced her way inside. Only Caleb's soft but persistent whisper had stayed her hand thus far. But as she dragged up years and years of pain for her testimony, killing the source of her anger became harder and harder to resist.

She clenches her hand around the hilt, her knuckles turning white. One tiny cut and the world would be rid of him forever. He had taught her well. If she positioned it just beneath the collar, she could-

"Can you teach me that?"

Astrid flinches. The kid is standing in front of her, his wide gaze trained on the dagger.

"Mom only showed me how to shoot," the kid pouts, shifting from one foot to the other, his toy crossbow hanging limply in his little fist.

Astrid runs her hand through her hair and glances around. Sadly, there are no other adults are in sight to distract him.

"Has your Mom even used a dagger?" she huffs.

The boy nods eagerly, voice filled with awe.

"Mom had a dagger, but it was cursed! It ate her alive, and she almost died!"

Astrid grunts non-committally. It is hard to tell if the boy is telling the truth, but the story seems in line with the Mighty Nein's shenanigans.

"Have you ever fought a monster?"

Astrid blinks at the change of topic. Involuntarily, her mind flashes to the man locked inside the house. She pushes the thought away and rakes her memory for a suitable situation as the kids keeps staring up at her.

"I fought an ogre once," she admits.

The kid frowns.

"What's an ogre?"

"A very big man."

His face falls in disappointment.

"But my Mom has fought many of those," he whines. "That's boring!"

"Well, was your Mom only seventee-"

Astrid snaps her mouth shut, cutting off her own indignant retort.

What is she doing? Feeling upset that a four year old does not deign her monster 'cool' enough? It had been her first real mission, and she and Wulf had won through a clever use of a lightning bolt, which had triggered an avalanche. But she is a Volstrucker. They do not argue with children.

A tiny hand pats her own.

"Don't worry," the boy chirps. "You'll fight cool monsters someday too!"

Before she can reply, he darts away. As she stares after him, dumbfounded, she almost misses Caleb, who is approaching with two bowls. He glances at the boy and back at her.

"He likes you," he mutters with a soft smile.

Astrid shrugs, and for a second Caleb stares down at her.

"Ehm, Caduceus has made us some food. If you want."

Tentatively, he hands her the bowl, pointedly ignoring the dagger. Astrid slips it back into its sheath, refusing to feel self conscious, and takes the bowl.

"Danke," she mutters. The food smells good, as always. Caleb sinks down into the grass next to her, and she takes a tentative bite from what looks like to be an aubergine.

"You are good," Caleb says after a moment of silence. "With him"

Astrid raises an eyebrow and Caleb shrugs.

"You did not scare him away," he amends.

Astrid scoffs.

"You did not teach him proper fear."

Caleb chuckles. "Ja, that is true. He is a menace."

They both pick at their food, both glancing everywhere but at each other, until Astrid can't take the silence any more.

"Why are we here?" she blurts out.

He frowns, turning towards her. "You know why-"

"Not that. Why are we here?"

She gestures at the Grove. Down near the patch of destroyed plants, Wulf is holding a shovel, accompanied by the drow. The drow is wearing colourful mittens. Wulf is wearing a straw hat. Trent Ikithon is locked inside the house, being spoon-fed by a firbolg.

"This is ridiculous."

It comes out as a whine. A plea. Pathetic, she thinks, but she can't stop tears burning behind her eyes.

The firbolg has joined Wulf and the drow, holding flowers to replace the ones that died.

"Ridiculous, yes," Caleb mutters, following her gaze. "But that is life."

But Caleb's expression is not one of happiness. He looks at them with wistful longing and apprehension, and Astrid wants to scream. Because if he does not understand this, he who crashed back into her life, disrupting everything - if he can't show her what she is supposed to do, then how can she deal with it on her own?

Be Bren! she wants to yell at him. Be the boy who made me laugh. Who held me during the night and who kissed me until we were both breathless. Be the boy who was happy.

Instead, his voice stutters as he recounts Ikithon's experiments. Instead, he buries his head in the halfling's shoulder, whole body shaking. Instead, his gaze lingers on the drow, uncertain and prepared for disappointment.

Astrid takes a shuddering breath. Ikithon would have berated her for showing even a little emotion. Instead, she feels a brush against her palm as Caleb slips his hand in hers. He is watching her again, gauging her reaction.

She thinks of pulling away. They can't be what they were, the three of them. Too much has changed. Too much is steeped in regret. But she is so tired. And is she not allowed this one little comfort? So she rests back against the tree and closes her eyes, one hand clutching her waist and the other clenched in Caleb's.

Their fingers are still entwined when Jester bounces towards them to summon them for dinner. Caleb stands first, but before she can miss his touch, he holds out his hand to her with a small smile.

She swallows, before letting him pull her to her feet. He keeps holding on as they are submerged in the whirlwind that is the Mighty Nein, and they sit next to each other during dinner, Wulf having joined on her other side.

As the sounds wash over her, Astrid finally relaxes. The group is loud and overwhelming, but their clamour drowns out the sceptical voice inside her head. The expositor nods at her from across the table, expression serious. The halfing woman is recounting another one of their adventures to her awestruck child and exasperated husband.

"Astrid, I made my hair look like yours!"

Jester grins at her.

"Sehr schön," Astrid answers.

"Caleb, was that good? I assume it is good!"

"Ja, it was."

Astrid shakes her head as Jester turns her attention to the half-orc. Caleb squeezes her hand, and with a huff, she meets his small smile with her own.

It won't be the same as before. But maybe, with Ikithon truly locked away, they could plant something new.
