Known for his mastery in combat and demon-slaying, Set's reputation was damaged by his misdeeds against the pantheon -- yet the notorious chaos god seems to revel in his infamy. Dismissing any past regrets, he displays his informal and crude attitude with friend and foe alike.

Okay now Set can have his moment to shine ✨

Set remains as the main character of DEITIES's main story, my own attempt at exploring one of the most vilified and multi-faceted gods in the mythology.

Though with my recent change in scope, he's been taking a little less spotlight while I've been developing others from the cast. Even then, I still develop Set offline with friends and he's been fleshed out quite a bit behind the scenes, so it'll be nice to revisit the big red chaos god in the future.

Fun… facts? But everything seems to be in excess with Set’s character, at least in DEITIES. Not that I even planned for it this way, but:

He’s the most adept with Transformation magic (30+ Animal forms, and several states of being).

He’s skilled with wielding a variety of other weapons -- though he favors staffs and blade polearms.

He has one of the highest body counts -- both in the traditional sense of who he’s killed (with Sekhmet likely exceeding this) + the amount of demons he’s slain over millennia; and as a euphemism for his various partners and flings.

He has the most associated songs on the project’s Spotify, including a 100 track masterlist, and... /goes to count-- I think 9 other separate and shared playlists.

He probably has the most featured artwork of the main cast thus far, so this took a while to narrow down lmao--

He has several additional but unlisted domains that include Warfare, Oases, Masculinity, and -- ahem -- Sexuality and Sexual Pleasure. I just had to hard cap him at the 5 up there, or it would have looked a bit ridiculous on his profile ​​💦

💀 Hades may not inherently like how your brother acts, but whenever you look at him with big puppy-dog eyes, his heart melts

💀 You mainly became close due to your jobs working together and gossiping about your families (the Greek and Egyptian Pantheons), you now know a lot more about Poseidon and Zeus

💀 You and Hades eventually began to court one another a few centuries after your first meet, which in a God's life is like knowing somebody for around a few months, depending on the amount

💀 Due to how close you had gotten, you wanted Hades to meet your parents, Osiris and Nephthys. And he always reacted the same; maybe after you meet mine first

💀 Respecting his wishes, you had met Hades' family on a number of occasions, your most memorable being when Zeus tried hitting on you, but before his sons could pull him back to reality, Hades grabbed his ear and scolded him like a mother would. Though he did also glare at him with nothing in his eyes... maybe that was why he almost pissed his toga...

💀 And over time, your requests began to get more frequent. So, respecting your wishes as well, Hades agreed to meet your family, much to you and your brother's delight

💀 You hopped that this would go perfectly, but hope doesn't always work out...

Instead, he took a deep breath and lightly nudged the item away from his neck and began looking at you across the room with hearts in his eyes as he spilled said organ's love and devotion out to his Father-in-Law

" Osiris, your youngest is by-far the most spectacular person I have ever met in my many centuries of living. In both physical appearance and how their personality and beyond is, they just... they just feel so right to have by my side, you know? I cannot stand the mere thought of laying harm to her, mental of physical. It makes my stomach plummet to the depths of my immortal soul. Seeing them happy and smiling on the other hand? That is one thing I would never change nor rid myself of for the world. "

💀 Looking up and down at Hades and contemplating his words, Osiris sighed deeply and held his crook lighter than before as a smile slightly covered his face before it turned into a teasing yet dangerous scowl

" I shall allow you and my child to prosper in your love for one another longer. But, know this, you hurt them, I will dispose of you like how we do here in Egypt. Understood? " " Completely, Father. " " Don't call me that. "

You can devise a mini story where she recovers the seed that her father stole from her husband. This is how they manage to have Seth's daughter. but (a situation that you can invent) the reader ends up dying, but this time because she sacrificed herself to save Seth after receiving a fatal stab wound. Seth is left alone with his daughter. The girl grows up to look a lot like her mother, but her hair and character are the same as Seth's.

Obviously the villain of everything in this story is Osiris.

You were the daughter of Osiris and isis, the eldest of the three children aka your two brothers; Anubis the second eldest, and Horus the youngest, Anubis was half because of events between your father and Nephthys while Horus is Osiris and Isis son like you’re their biological daughter.

You were also the wife to Seth; the god of war and sand, how that happened is a long story.

You noticed some red flowers in the garden your father gave to your mother and curiosity got the best of you and you went to get a closer look on the red flowers.

You found out that this was your husbands seed as you can look through the memories of living beings, one of the advantages of being the daughter of the god of life.

You knew that Seth wanted a child so you decided to give him the opportunity to get the wish he deserved after all he’s been through.

Your father found out and went after you when you had given birth already to yours and Seth’s daughter when your father came busting through the room and aimed to kill your child which was in Seth’s hand, Seth shielded his daughter with her waiting for the pain of the attack but didn’t feel anything, you had take the attack and gave a attack of your own to your father so he doesn’t get out of this scot free with no injuries either. Sadly you didn’t anticipated that the attack had poison that could kill a god and soon that wound turned fatal as it was apparently fast past and soon became incurable now which lead to your death.

Your death traumatized your husband and made him seek out and kill Osiris with strength that he never had before to avenge your death. He doesn’t let anyone touch your daughter or anywhere near her that includes her grandmother and her uncles, he also makes sure that she is in the same room as him so nothing bad happens. He secludes her from anybody he deems a threat to her while also looking for ways to hopefully bring you back as he doesn’t want to be alone and he’ll do anything to make sure you and your daughter is there with him until the end of time.

The main ENNEAD tags (just the series name) are all the most populous for stuff, regardless of platform, particularly the English and Japanese. Horuseth is the next most populous.

As a caveat, exploring these tags and communities assumes you are either up to date with the latest episode in Korean or don't care about spoilers. Fans will sometimes spoiler block panels, meta, or fanworks for the latest episode, but usually nothing older than that, and communities are increasingly flooded with panels from the new episode on the day of the update as the community grows bigger. Your best bet if you don't want to be spoiled because you're reading a version that's behind the Korean (e.g., the English, which is three episodes behind) is to mute the number for the latest Korean episode while browsing. If you'd like to read the Korean, I made a carrd and a Tumblr post to help. If you'd like to share panel screengrabs/screencaps/captures from the comic on socials, please either stick to the previews shared by Witchcomics on their twitter, or 1-2 panels max, at Mojito's request.

In terms of socials, there are active fan communities basically everywhere!

At the moment, twitter is by far the most populous for anything ENNEAD, cross-language, including fanart, sharing fics in a number of languages (or at least links to them, if not also twitter fics), discussion, meta, and cosplay. If you'd like good twitters to follow:

RT ENNEAD is a good general trawler of all things ENNEAD. They do all ships and characters and usually update 2-3 times a day, minimum

Papyrus Studio/Studio Papyrus is a group of artists who create fanworks for ENNEAD, including phone calendars, and regularly run fandom events

HoruSeth365/365_with_HS, another fangoods collaboration

Mojito is also on twitter and posts things sporadically

Witchcomics, one of the official Korean chapter posters, regularly promotes ENNEAD and raffles for merch. They also post previews for new episodes some hours before the episodes go up.

ENNEAD Japan is an official twitter run by b-boy, who manage the Japanese license for ENNEAD. They use the twitter to announce distribution (webcomic updates), publication (physical book updates), and merchandise.

Following that, pixiv is a very populous site for fanworks, including fanfics. Pixiv is free to use, very accessible if you read English (or obviously Japanese since it's a Japanese art site) but easier to use if you have an account (though you don't have to pay for it, and you don't have to post anything). A lot of twitter artists have been mass dumping all their art on pixiv lately, or near-simultaneously publishing there, so if you hate twitter, pixiv is the place to go.

Archive Of Our Own has a pretty active fanfic archive for the community across many languages, with English and Mandarin Chinese dominating (followed by Spanish).

Instagram is the next most populous site for fanworks, mostly just fanart and cosplay, though it's pretty heavily censored, so people just mention their work is on twitter or somewhere else. Also be wary, Insta is full of art reposters and folks sharing scanlations.

Outside of Tumblr, Deviantart has a small community of folks updating art, and is also a good archive for easily browsing old art. Tumblr also has a lovely archive of art if you want to browse, and a number of folks came over here recently.

If you'd like a Discord, many are locked or dead, but I have an adult Discord open if folks would like to join, where I try to do regular news and event updates on different platforms, as well as share links to fanworks and resources on different platforms, and people talk about characters, ships, theories, and fanworks!

There is also a very small pillowfort community.

I would not recommend using sites like Pinterest, as it's almost entirely stolen and reposted art, without credit. A few artists actually post their art directly there, but by and large, it's the worst place for art theft. Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube are also full of art theft. There is a subreddit, enneadmanhwa, which is very quiet.

However, there are a couple of YouTube accounts I'd recommend:

Mojito has a YouTube account, where Mojito rarely posts videos.

Papyrus Studio/Studio Papyrus has made collaborative AMVs for the series.

There are fics on Wattpad, but most of them use stolen fanart, or include scanlations. There's a lot there if you want to check them out, just be wary, and please support actual artists, not reposters. There is also a collection of Thai fanfics on readawrite (but again be wary as a lot of them also use stolen fanart).

For information on characters, side comics, physical releases, locations, etc., the ENNEAD fanwiki on FANDOM exists, though it's still under heavy construction. I also have a tumblr post about side comics and extra art by Mojito.

To be really fair anon I have no idea, not only I do not see ships from myths and legends as ships per say but something that just happens, I am no expert in ship name and also Isis X Osiris isn't my favorite couple and I actually don't see see Set X Nephthys loving each other but more or less forced and cheating on each other mutually. Last but not least of the royal family!! (from this generation, there's a couple more youngin's to go--).

I remember noticing how Nephthys's role in many versions of the mythology (and in some pop culture) had felt downplayed, if not outright ignored, so it's been refreshing to see her getting a bit more credit in recent stories. I've wanted to try the same for her in DEITIES, and I've enjoyed developing her character over time, both offline with friends and for the main project.

I also don't have too much of a fun fact here for Nephthys, though it doesn't escape me that a lot of her featured artwork is with, her husband /lmAO--

I've been pleasantly surprised by how much my audience supports Set and Nephthys as a ship though, particularly with how affectionate I've portrayed them with each other (once you get past the inevitable heartbreak--). The mythology doesn't really delve into their couples dynamic much so it leaves a lot of room for interpretation, but I'm really glad that the approach I'm going with has been well-received so far 😭 It's not meant to be perfect, and they surely need some growing and healing to repair their deep rift, but it's nice to indulge in what they had and what they could become later in the story.

Adhd meds didn’t work and i got bored and sketched this all out, and did some world building.

The Main Man :

Set was the lord of the Red-Lands and Upper Egypt to start. After Osiris got capped and he (rightfully) inherited the Throne of Lower egypt into his domain and power. The god of violence, expanded his influences as far as it could go before the disappointing end of the myth. Taking Kush, Punt, Canaan, edging into Parthia, tickling the feet of the Hittites, and standing firm in northern Africa, taking control of any and all trade of the Mediterranean south. Formally Creating the first Egyptian Empire from this:

Within his 90-80 year reign, Set grew his empire Substantially. Ruling over a multitude of different peoples, who gave him different names and accepted him into his pantheons (Baal, Hadad, Teshub, etc).

Set’s direct power over the southern Mediterranean brought extreme wealth to his new Egyptian empire, and an influx of slaves, diverse traders, peoples, and a wealth gap to be introduced to the former somewhat closed off kingdom of egypt. As you can seen the reasons Isis knew Horus could no win waging war or in a fight one to one was fairly simple. Set was Infinitely stronger than Horus, and he had hundreds of the thousands of men from different lands marching at his back, solely loyal to him as their great new god. Set does eventually get occupied with Horus battle stuff and cannot enjoy fighting at the two fronts of his expansion and was planning to conquer Mesopotamia before Horus challenges him pausing and effectively ending all expansion in his reign.

Egypt would never see such Expansive success again until the likes of his Grandson Rameses the Great.

At the end of the Myth there was massive losses to Egypt, returning it from empire to Kingdom, The gods agreed that the lands Set had rightfully conquered were not to he included in Horus’s inheritance (which pissed off the spoiled little shite), who proceeded to lose Punt due to his inexperience and mismanagement. Leaving the once massive empire looking more like this:

Set remain Lord of the red-lands for a another millennia or so, before eventually retiring to become Ra’s heir upon the sun boat, allowing for his Foreign people to be ruled by his descendants. The remains of his once great empire were ruled by Wepwawet, then Maga for some time, before giving it to the Mortal Kings of Canaan and Northern Africa, like Horus in egypt.

The Wives:

Set has many wives, but these are the Great wives:

Nephthys, Neith, Anat, and Astarte.

Nephthys is Set’s Great Wife to begin with, being the mother of the Most of his divine offspring and his first love.

After the Murder of Osiris she was admittedly afraid. (She is rather delicate when it’s other gods making the trouble, especially her world ending, unkillable snake and brother murdering husband).

She becomes depressed thinking of her windowed sister, having taken her place as Queen. Her pity had only festered with everyday, she having seen Isis sprinting after her trapped husband, and watched as Isis aggressively shaved her eyebrows off in a spell of horrid grief when she was unable to save him.

So she remains at Set’s side while Harboring as she worked to Isis back to a sense of sanity and reality , slowly becoming a insider to help her find Osiris’s body. Nephthys successfully does find the location….but Set wondering why his wife was being so distant discovers this, and tears up Osiris’s body, setting them back at square one. When he returns home to yell at her again, she’s already hit the ground running and books it out of Egypt with Isis and baby Anubis on Set’s ship. She does return to Egypt eventually keeping low and raising Anubis and Horus, before getting pregnant after Seducing Set into telling her secrets with the help of coitus, unconsenstually administered drugs and worrying amounts alcohol. (She is 1000% on all the registries).

Neith becomes Great Wife a few years after Nephthys escapes. Before assuming the title she had spent her time seducing and distracting him from his search for Isis while Nephthys harbored her. Encouraging him to expand the empire and Has Sobek (who later eats a piece of Osiris, and gets jumped by Horus and Isis) to keep him happy. Once Nephthys leaves and she becomes great wife, she struggles to keep him from looking for the escaped trio, and ultimately fails when Set discover Horus’s existence and she just books it to Canaan while pregnant with Serket to escape Set’s wrath, and for the safety of her children, ultimately laying low until the final trial.

Anat and Astarte are set’s great wives only briefly after the end of his empire, producing Maga before Set’s reconciliation with Nephthys and Neith, which gets them unwilling deposed to lesser wives.

The Children

Set’s children throughout the Myth is:

Anubis, Sobek, Wepwawet, Maga, and Serket. (In order of birth)

Nephthys: Anubis, Anput, Wepwawet, and Bata (born after the original myth)

Neith: Sobek and Serket,

Anat and Astarte: Maga (they both act as his mother, in reality he is Astarte’s son, but Anat takes a role as his second mother, she bears no interest in bearing children)

Anubis and Sobek, were both once considered the heirs to the Empire’s before their disappearances with their fleeing mothers. Here I display the children each bearing a weapon gifted to them by their father, with a Serket bearing two lotuses in references of a personal head-cannon story of mine:

Set looks throughout his new empire, journeying across it as he looks for Isis and Horus. In his travels he comes upon Serket, while ignorant of their relation to each other, she unlike all others is unafraid of Him the slayer of Apep and Murderer of Osiris. She simply offers the Pharaoh a Blue Lotus, and Set perhaps wanting to be a prick or sensing the oddity of the little one. Crushes the lotus in his hand and mends it with sand squeezing the magic of the lotus from its leaves, before opens them to reveal a Scorpion, he gifts it to Serket, who accepts the creature and becomes it’s master.
