crush
Tumblr media
author’s note: the request to this fic can be found here. recommended song for this fic is seventeen’s crush.
synopsis: you are not a very subtle lover, and minghao noticed it.
word count: 1.1k | genre: fluff, humour/crack | pairing: minghao x gn! reader | warnings: none
“stop looking at him! oh my god y/n! you really couldn’t be more obvious.” seungkwan said while rolling his eyes as you were looking at minghao; he was a good friend of yours, and there was no doubt in the fact that you were utterly, hopelessly in love with him. “shut up! i wasn’t even looking!” you defended yourself. “of course not, that’s why you have a pool of drool around you!” he laughed when your expression changed from annoyed to terrified, looking around to see if what he said was true even though you already knew he was joking. “haha, very funny! seriously, i was just thinking about something and i probably zoned out a bit, that’s all.” you stated. “you’re lying!” seungkwan exclaimed while eating a cupcake from the basket in front of him. it wasn’t a complete lie; you did zone out, but the subject of you detaching yourself from the world (yet again) was none other than the famous xu minghao; he was taking pictures of the flowers in the park you guys were at, hanging out before the temperature dropped and you couldn’t go on picnics anymore. “aren’t those flowers just so pretty?” joshua mentioned while walking closer to minghao to take pictures himself. “yeah, they are.” minghao answered him, looking over to you and the others, your eyes meeting and him giving you a little smile. he walked over to the blanket and sat down next to you, asking kwan to pass him the basket to grab a cupcake. after taking a bite a satisfied look appeared on his face. “is it good?” you asked, an excited look on your face appearing out of the blue.
“y/n watch out!” mingyu shouted at you and you snapped out of your daze; you were watching minghao decorate a freshly baked batch of cupcakes. the three of you volunteered to make the dessert for the picnic you guys had planned to have the next day. it was 11pm and you were still in the kitchen; baking for nearly 15 people was a bigger challange than you had initially anticipated when you got to work at 6pm. you had a great plan: mingyu was the chef and you and hao were his little helpers, just like santa and the elfs. “i think i messed them up.” you were very disappointed to see that the egg whites you were spposed to make the whipped cream with were all over your clothes as you had been focusing on minghao the entire time when you should’ve watched the mixer. the boys turned towards you at the same time, minghao almost dropping his piping bag and giggling when he saw the state you were in, covered in blotches of eggwhites from head to toe. “it’s alright, nothing to worry about.” mingyu reassured you while walking closer. “just make sure next time you decide on staring at minghao you don’t have a mixer going on full speed with ingredients in it.” he whispered into your ear, so the mentioned man couldn’t hear it. “yes sir.” you mumbled, embarrassed. “you alright though?” minghao asked when he got next to you to wash his hands after completing the icing of the cupcakes. ”yeah, of course, but i definitely need to change my clothes.” you laughed, feeling a little awkward after messing up a simple task like watching over the mixer. “wait, stay still.” hao requested, looking at you. “why-“ he raised his finger and wiped the top of your nose. “you got some on your nose too.” he smiled, washing it off of his hands. you blushed. “thanks.”
“yeah. it is very good.” minghao replied, grinning at you. “wanna have a bite?” he offered and you reached for the basket, however he stopped your hand. “here’s mine.” he held out the dessert, initiating for you to take a bite from it. you leaned closer, tasting the sweetness of the sugar coating the base. “wait, this is actually so good.” you squeeled, letting out a hum of contemptment. he looked at how you enjoyed the cupcake; he loved seing you happy, and he had absolutely developed a soft spot for you.
it all started with you sparing glances at him whenever you guys were at the same room, it would have been obvious to anyone; the lovestruck look on your face said everything that needed to be said: you had a massive crush on him.
…however, you weren’t that slick with it; he caught onto your heart eyes very quickly, and at first he thought it was kind of annoying, someone always focusing on him; it hadn’t happened to him before, he hadn’t been the center of anyone’s world like yours. as time went on he realised that if he wanted to be honest he had to admit, you were quite cute. you would try to be subtle, bringing him a coffee or sitting next to him and trying to have as many conversations with him as you could, always blushing when he complimented you or when he laughed at your jokes. thanks to your constant trying you got pretty close with each other over time, resulting in him starting to fall in love with you too, although you couldn’t sense it due to being blinded by your own feelings.
“thanks, it was delicious! we did a good job.” you noted. when you peared up from under your lashes you were just in time to catch him share a knowing look with joshua moments before you wanting to ask if anything was wrong he turned to you. “you got some in the corner of your lips. let me help you.” he warned, leaning in closer, but this time he didn’t use his hands. you felt his lips on yours, it was there just for a moment before he was sitting straight in front of you again, a coy smile on his face when he licked his lips. “what?” he asked innocently. your jaw was almost on the blanket, that was how wide your mouth was hanging open, not being able to say anything. “you really thought i didn’t see the way you stare at me y/n? i know you like me.” he laughed, getting closer again. you finally found your voice to speak. “wait what? you knew? how?” he was inches away from your face. “you weren’t exactly that subtle you know.” he said while he pulled you into a kiss. after breaking apart he put his forehead to yours. “i am glad you weren’t though.”

twilight nights
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
member — bf!minghao x gn reader genre — fluff word count — 1.1k warnings — lots of kissing, maaybe suggestive if you squint with a microscope, just soft cute fall boyfriend minghao c: notes — for @caratober prompt day 9 - twilight — lowercase intended, reader is (kind of) implied to be shorter than hao. btw hi @myungho ;)
one reblog = one leaf in your hair
Tumblr media
"wanna go for a walk?"
you look up from your book, eyes following minghao as he crosses the room to sit in his favorite chair by the couch.
“why?” you ask, sliding your bookmark in between the pages and shutting it, giving him your full attention.
he leans his head back against the backrest of the chair. “just for fun,” he says, gently rocking the chair back and forth. “it’s nice outside tonight.”
it’s your day off, so you’ve been relaxing inside all day. but getting fresh air can never hurt, and neither can spending more time with minghao.
you nod. “sure.”
you set your book on the side table and sit up, stretching your arms above your head with a yawn. minghao can’t help but smile fondly as he watches you.
“let me go change and grab my coat first,” you say, uncrossing your legs to stand. though comfortable, your pajama set is probably not the best attire to go out walking in late at night.
“take your time,” he calls as you head to your bedroom to find some sweats.
Tumblr media
streetlights begin to flicker on at the twilight hour, their soft yellow glow illuminating the sidewalk as you stroll down the familiar path. the evening light is just beginning to fade, deep shades of blue and purple and orange streaked across the sky as if painted on with a paintbrush.
you feel a tug on your hand, and you turn around, realizing minghao’s stopped.
“wait, i wanna take a picture,” he says, letting go of your hand to pull his phone out of his pocket.
without the warmth of his hand in yours, you start to feel the effects of the falling autumn temperatures. you shiver, shoving your hands into your jacket pocket while he angles his camera towards the sky, snapping picture after picture.
finally he puts his phone away, reaching out for your hand again. you grab it eagerly, bringing his arm close to your cheek and holding him tight, warming your hands with his.
he giggles, pulling you in. “you look cold, baby.”
“mhm,” you pout. you wrap your arms around his slim waist, threading your hands behind his back underneath his coat, and he does the same, cuddling you into his chest.
you notice the way his wire glasses perch on his nose, the thin chain dangling from the sides as he looks down at you. the way his eyes squeeze up like they do when he’s happy. the way his cheeks have a cute rosy blush; whether from the chill in the air or something else, you may never know.
the two of you must've stood like that for a long time, but it only felt like seconds had passed, surrounded by his warm embrace. he finally releases one arm around you, his hand trailing up to the top of your head. you try to follow his movements with your eyes, furrowing your brow in confusion. you feel his delicate fingers run through your hair, and you have to fight the urge to close your eyes and sigh at how wonderful and relaxing the feeling is.
finally he brings his hand back down, a leaf pinched between his fingers. "there was a leaf in your hair," he explains shyly.
your cheeks flush as he lets the leaf flutter to the ground, landing in a pile with other leaves in pretty reds and oranges.
"thanks," you say with a soft smile.
he takes your hand in his again and squeezes. “ready to go?”
you nod, letting him lead you back down the sidewalk as the sky continues to darken.
Tumblr media
you shed your coat and shoes at the door and move back to your spot on the couch, sinking into the plush seat with a sigh. minghao moves across the room to flip on the fireplace before following you to the couch, setting his glasses on the side table and cuddling up next to you.
his hand grazes your thigh, and you turn your head to study him, admiring the way he seems to shine even under the dim light.
his lips look so soft, you can’t resist reaching over to brush your thumb across them. confusion tinges his features for a moment, but he smiles, letting you trace your fingers gently along the curve of his lips in admiration of his beauty.
you lean over to touch your mouth to his, ever so softly. you feel him smile against your lips as he presses his body against you, one hand lightly cupping your jaw to pull you closer and kiss you deeper. his other hand moves up to caress the back of your neck, gently massaging his delicate fingers into your skin.
his touch is feather light and his kiss even lighter, ghosting over your skin as if he can’t believe you’re real and in his arms right now. the taste of his chapstick is sweet on his lips, a new seasonal one he bought recently, the fragrant smell of cinnamon spice filling your nose.
his lips leave yours for a split second, leaning forward to rest his forehead against yours. “i love you,” he whispers before diving back in with fervor. the fireplace crackles and hums quietly in the background, throwing soft ambient shadows across the walls as minghao continues, his kisses warm and breathless.
his words send your heart fluttering as you begin threading your fingers through his soft hair. no longer outside in the cold, you don’t have an excuse for why your face heats up so much.
you pull away, hands still tangled in his hair, leaning back to take a breath. his eyes follow your movements, concern painting his features at your sudden pause, but you lean forward to kiss the tip of his nose. his nose is still cold from the evening air, despite the heat radiating from the fireplace, and you give it another peck, warming him up with your lips.
you giggle at the playful scowl on his face. “i love you, too,” you murmur finally.
the smile on his face when you tell him those words could warm your heart even on the coldest of fall nights.

maybe it's a good thing — x. minghao
Tumblr media
NOTE. this is not an email! i will put the series on hold since i don't want it to be rushed and end terribly. i want to give each member justice and make their characters well-written so take this minghao oneshot as a little compensation. not proofread.
PAIRING. artist!the8 x singer!reader
GENRE. hurt/comfort, angst (as usual)
SYNOPSIS. a struggling singer and a talented artist, xu minghao, cross paths every evening at a lively local bar
W/C. 5k
WARNINGS. language alluding to death
messy masterlist/navigation
you stand backstage watching the audience as the shattered glasses, muffled talk, and distant hum of conversation all come together to create a cacophonous melody. as you watch, crowds of people gather in front of the dimly lit stage, the spotlight shining a tantalizing glow on the artists who have graced it with their presence throughout the course of the night.
a close friend had approached you a few nights before asking for help. they scheduled a friday night concert at your town's beloved local bar, and they needed a last-minute performer. not only did the owner of the pub offer you a huge payout, but you also pledged to help out a friend in need.
your heart was racing with a mix of excitement and dread as you found yourself pacing back and forth behind the heavy drapes as the hours went by. being in front of a large audience is thrilling yet nerve-wracking at the same time because you've always felt more at ease in smaller and more intimate settings.
there is an electrifying feeling in the pub, even though you are trying to hide from the audience's probing eyes. vibrations of laughter and cheers fill the room, interspersed with the inevitable accident when bottles of beer shatter on the polished wooden floor. its peculiar scent blend—which perfectly captures the ambiance of this local hangout—combines the rich scent of pub food with the lingering smell of booze.
the faint echoes of the preceding act's music can be heard backstage; each chord has a unique magnitude that has fired up everyone in attendance. there's an indescribable feeling of adrenaline in the air, and as you take a deep breath and get ready to step onto the stage for the night's final act, you know that this will be an unforgettable event no matter how it turns out.
you were placed back in reality when the event organizer tapped your shoulder and whispered, “you’re up next.”
you nodded your head as a response and gripped the strap of your guitar before taking a deep breath. affirmations ran through your head as you walked to the middle of the stage. you sat on the stool, placed your guitar comfortably on your lap, and began to play the first few strokes of the strings that caused the audience to scream and cheer for you.
it was overwhelming for you, to say the least. it’s your first time performing infront of a huge crowd. normally, it would just be you playing at a relative's birthday or some stranger’s funeral but never at a place like this. it was electrifying.
your eyes were trying their hardest to find a familiar face in the room, watching and listening to you as you sung the lyrics of the song you had chosen to perform, but you failed yourself when you realized they were all strangers. it wasn't an issue for you. rather, your gaze fell on this one person, and you began observing him without realizing it. he's not paying attention very closely. unlike other people in the audience, he didn't seem as drawn to the performance on stage; instead, it seemed as like he was living in his own bubble with your voice playing in the background. he was, instead, doodling something on a piece of brown tissue paper.
he held your interest. except for him, everyone else was staring at you. he was enjoying his own time as if he was the only one in the room. of course, you don't think that everyone would be watching you, but there was something about him that made you look at him after each verse and bridge you sang that evening.
you thanked them and said you wanted to see them again another evening as you concluded the three songs you had prepared. when you turned to face his table again, you noticed that the man had already left and that it was vacant and spotless. not a glimpse of the tissue paper he had been sketching on before. as soon as you got off the stool and went back behind the stage, people began to make their way towards the exit as well.
"you did so well!" your friend, seokmin, said, beaming with admiration, as you slung your guitar bag over your shoulder. you glared at him and playfully smacked his arm.
"i was looking for you earlier!" you replied, knitting your eyebrows and pouting when he laughed at your mock anger.
"i was watching you backstage!" he defended himself, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"you know, i was fuming earlier since you were the one who invited me here, and yet you weren't even in the audience," you said, a touch of mock annoyance in your voice.
"okay, don't be mad now. you'll get wrinkles. calm your brows," seokmin teased, his laughter filling the air as you both shared a lighthearted moment after your performance.
"oh, by the way! the owner said he'll send the money directly to your account. he also mentioned giving you a bonus if you come here again next friday. what do you say?" seokmin asked, a hopeful glimmer in his eyes as he looked at you, eagerly awaiting your response.
"sure, why not? i'm free next friday," you replied with a smile, feeling a sense of excitement at the prospect of performing again.
"that's good to hear!" seokmin said, his enthusiasm matching yours.
"you better be in the audience next friday. i was dead nervous earlier," you teased seokmin, trying to hide the lingering nerves from your voice with a playful tone.
"yeah, yeah! you should head home now, hun. there won't be any cabs around past 2 am. i still need to close up the bar, so you should head home first," seokmin urged, showing concern for your safety and well-being after a successful but late-night performance.
you bid your goodbyes to seokmin and stepped outside the bar, the cool night air offering a refreshing contrast to the vibrant energy you had just left behind.
as you stood at the side of the road, it felt as if you could still hear the echoes of the cheers and applause from your earlier performance. your heart continued to race, and the thrill of the moment lingered in the cool night air. you inhaled deeply, the cold breeze providing a soothing contrast to the excitement that still pulsed within you, as you waited for a taxi to pass by and take you home.
the pub was situated in a quiet, almost desolate alley, likely to minimize disturbances to the other residents in the area. unfortunately, this meant that very few vehicles frequented the road, especially at the late hour of 2:30 am. as you stood there, you realized that hailing a taxi might take longer than you had initially thought, adding an extra layer of challenge to your journey home.
you let out a sigh and began to reflect, realizing that this night wasn't as flawless as you had initially imagined it to be. however, there was no pressing need to hurry back home, for your house was a solitary sanctuary. there was no one waiting for you there, as you lived alone, except for the friendly stray cat that you often found nestled beside your bedroom window.
you were startled out of your thoughts as a strong, blinding light suddenly illuminated the alley. blinking away the temporary blindness, you turned to see a sleek, black hellcat redeye not too far from where you stood. the car began to roll slowly in your direction, and the driver honked the horn when it came to a stop in front of you. crouching slightly to look through the window, you were taken aback to see the same guy you had noticed sketching earlier in the evening. the unexpected encounter added another surreal layer to an already eventful night.
"need a ride?" he asked, his words careful and gentle, as if he were making an effort not to come across as too forward or strange. his concern was evident in his tone.
"yeah," you replied, your voice slightly shaky from the chill of the night. "obviously," you added under your breath, feeling the cold seep into your bones, grateful for the unexpected but timely offer of a ride.
“get in, —.” he said, using your stage name to address you with a gentle smile, a touch of familiarity in his demeanor.
"thank you," you said, the gratitude evident in your voice as you fastened your seatbelt.
he hummed in response, starting the car and preparing to drive.
"where to?" he asked, his eyes briefly meeting yours in the rearview mirror.
"oh, 17 apartment complex. it's pretty far from here. i'm sorry," you explained, feeling a twinge of guilt for the inconvenience.
"no, it's totally okay with me. i don't live very far from your building anyways," he reassured you, his tone warm and accommodating. you settled back in your seat, grateful for his understanding and the unexpected company on your way home.
the first few minutes of the ride were filled with a certain awkwardness. he kept himself occupied by humming along to the tune playing on the local radio, his eyes occasionally darting to the road ahead.
“what’s your name?” he asked, breaking the awkward silence.
“i’m —, you?”
“minghao. how old are you, —?”
“i’m 25.”
"oh, i'm a year older than you then," he replied with a friendly smile, a subtle connection forming as you exchanged this small piece of personal information.
the exchange of personal information had a surprising effect, gradually melting the initial awkwardness in the car. minghao's sense of humor emerged, and he started cracking jokes throughout the long drive home. you found yourself enjoying the banter, though you had to remind him to keep his eyes on the road a few times. the conversation flowed so naturally that it almost felt like you had known each other for ages.
curiosity about why he hadn't seemed attentive during your performance earlier crossed your mind, but in the warmth of the moment, with him right beside you on the drive home, the question seemed less pressing. you were content to let the night unfold at its own pace, and you appreciated the newfound camaraderie that had unexpectedly come into your life.
"thanks again!" you said with a warm smile on your face as you stepped out of minghao's car.
"see you again some other time. go inside now. it's cold," he advised, a caring tone in his voice. you nodded in agreement, appreciating his thoughtfulness.
you entered the building and turned back to look once the automatic glass door of the building closed shut. minghao's car was just starting to pull away, disappearing into the night, leaving you with a sense of gratitude for the serendipitous encounter and a newfound friendship that had brightened your evening in the most unexpected way.
your friday evenings fell into a comfortable rhythm, with your performances at the local pub becoming a regular highlight of the week. minghao continued to be a dedicated audience member, offering you a ride home after each show. eventually, your interactions extended beyond the confines of the friday routine, as you both decided to spend time together on days when your schedules allowed. the bond between you grew stronger, fueled by shared laughter, genuine conversations, and a growing sense of companionship that transcended the confines of the local bar and the friday night performances.
over time, you discovered that minghao was not just an art enthusiast but an accomplished artist in his own right. his talents and dedication to his craft impressed you, and it came as a delightful surprise when he confided that he had an upcoming opportunity to showcase his artwork in a renowned gallery in paris next week.
tonight is just another amazing evening for you, and that sentence carries an entirely different meaning now. a few nights ago, you had entered this local pub with a mix of nervousness and the overwhelming sensation of performing in front of a large crowd, all motivated by the prospect of earning some extra money. however, as the weeks turned into months, you found that you had come to love your evenings at the pub.
the owner, recognizing the growing popularity of the pub's live music, had extended the concert nights to include mondays, wednesdays, and fridays. it was no longer just your fridays, but the entire week had become a delightful series of performances and moments of connection with an audience that had grown to appreciate and support your music.
you had grown to relish the thrill of performing in front of an audience, and the peace and fun that followed each of your shows had become something you eagerly anticipated. what once felt like a daunting task had evolved into a cherished part of your life, a testament to the transformative power of shared experiences and the connections formed on those memorable friday nights.
"hey," seokmin's sudden whisper caught you off guard, interrupting your thoughts as you waited for your turn to perform on stage.
you turned to look at him, raising an eyebrow. "hey! what's wrong with you?" you asked, unable to contain a playful smirk as you lightly smacked his arm.
"i see you have your own personal driver now, huh?" he teased, earning a playful glare from you in return.
"i don't meddle in your romance with the owner of this pub, so mind your own business," you retorted, a hint of sass in your voice, which only made him laugh even more. the lighthearted banter with your friend helped ease the last-minute nerves as you prepared to take the stage once again.
"so... who is he?" seokmin persisted with his curiosity.
"he's just a friend of mine," you replied, a hint of defensiveness in your tone.
seokmin didn't back down. "i'm asking for his name, not who he is to you," he clarified, clearly interested in the details.
“name is minghao, he’s an artist.”
“minghao? he’s here right now?”
“about that, i don’t know if he could come today since he has a flight tomorrow. he needs his rest, you know?”
“flight to where?”
“paris, he has an event to attend.”
“big time. anyway, you need to get going. the previous act just left the stage.”
with seokmin's reminder, you took a deep breath and made your way to the center of the stage, ready to captivate the audience with your performance. as the spotlight shone upon you, you began to sing, the music filling the air, and the crowd's attention shifting to you, for another memorable evening at the local pub.
throughout your performance, you couldn't help but steal glances at the entrance of the pub, hoping to catch a glimpse of minghao walking in. however, as your performance concluded, he was still nowhere to be seen.
you had already prepared yourself for the likelihood of his absence, but a part of your heart couldn't help but feel a tinge of disappointment. minghao had become a regular part of your friday routine, and his absence meant that you would be heading home alone, missing the comfort of his presence and the familiar company during the drive back.
you concluded your wednesday performance and bid your goodbye to the audience to your friend, seokmin.
as you stood at the side of the road, waiting for a cab that seemed highly unlikely to pass by, a sense of resignation began to settle in. the cold night air seemed to penetrate deeper as you waited patiently, hoping for some stroke of luck to bring a taxi your way.
just when it felt like your patience might wear thin, you couldn't believe your eyes when you saw the unmistakable sight of minghao's black hellcat redeye approaching. the vehicle came to a smooth stop in front of you, and you couldn't help but feel a sense of relief and gratitude wash over you.
"i couldn't leave without driving you back home," minghao said with a reassuring smile as you approached the car window. the warmth in his words and the kindness in his eyes instantly put you at ease, and you eagerly hopped into the car, comforted by the knowledge that you wouldn't be braving the chilly night alone. the sense of disappointment that had weighed on you earlier began to dissipate, and you embarked on the drive back home with a grateful heart, appreciating the unexpected friendship that had brightened your life in countless ways.
the night air was crisp, and the streets were nearly deserted as you both continued your journey through the quiet city. minghao's dedication to ensuring you got home safely, despite the early hours and his impending flight, touched you deeply.
"you really shouldn't have. you have a flight to catch, and it's 3 am," you insisted once more, your concern growing for his well-being.
minghao, however, brushed off your worries. "are you kidding me? this is the least i could do for you. i won't be seeing you for a week," he responded with unwavering determination, his eyes briefly leaving the road to meet yours.
"you need to rest, hao," you continued, not wanting him to exhaust himself before his important journey.
"this is rest," he reassured you, turning to look at you once more, his eyes filled with warmth and understanding. the way he looked at you made your heart skip a beat, and you couldn't help but smile in return.
"eyes on the road," you playfully reminded him, ensuring he stayed focused on the task at hand. the bond you had formed over the past weeks was a source of great comfort to both of you, and the journey back home in the early hours of the morning, despite the upcoming separation, felt like a cherished moment of connection.
the dark, quiet streets rolled by as minghao drove you home, and the solitude of the night created a sense of intimacy between you two. his commitment to driving you back, even when he had an early flight to catch, was a testament to the depth of your friendship.
"don't you worry. after i drive you home, i will head straight to the airport and i will sleep there," minghao reiterated, his voice calm and reassuring.
you couldn't help but offer, "are you sure you don't want to have coffee at my house before you head to the airport?" concern for his well-being tugged at your heart, knowing that he was sacrificing his rest to ensure you got home safely.
minghao's smile was both gentle and resolute as he declined your offer. "no need," he replied, "you should sleep as soon as you get home. i'll be fine." his caring demeanor and genuine concern for your comfort and well-being resonated deeply with you, and you nodded in understanding.
"you are home," minghao said gently, drawing you out of your reverie as you continued to stare at him.
"huh?" you responded, momentarily confused.
"we are here," he clarified, gesturing toward your building.
"oh," you murmured, realizing your distraction, and looked to your right to see your familiar apartment building. "well, thank you for the ride, hao. and good luck in paris."
"thank you. good night," minghao replied with a warm smile before you closed the car door behind you.
just like any other evening, minghao didn't leave until he saw you inside the building. the familiar routine and his unwavering consideration were a comforting friend that you had come to rely on, and as you watched his car drive away, you felt a wave of gratitude for his presence in your life.
entering your unit, you felt far from tired. the drive with minghao had been a peaceful interlude in your life, much like any other evening you spent with him. the sense of comfort and contentment that his presence brought was a cherished part of your routine, a bright spot in your week that had transformed your evenings into moments of warmth, friendship, and music. you couldn't help but reflect on how, from a chance meeting at the local pub, a beautiful friendship had blossomed, filling your life with unexpected joy and connection.
the morning you woke up, it was an ordinary thursday. it began just like any other day, with your familiar routine of going on a peaceful walk, visiting your favorite bakery, and then returning to your apartment to spend the day in peaceful solitude. everything seemed as it usually was.
however, a subtle sense of unease crept in when you realized there was no "good morning" text from minghao. at first, you found it strange, but then it dawned on you that he had a flight today. he always turned his phone to airplane mode during flights, and that was why the expected message was missing.
despite knowing the reason, a slight feeling of emptiness lingered, reminding you of the importance of this daily interaction with your friend. it was a small but significant absence, a reminder of how much minghao had become a part of your daily life, even when he was miles away.
as the hours passed by, you found yourself preoccupied with various activities, but a part of your mind remained fixated on the absence of minghao's messages. then, finally, you noticed his name appearing in your notifications. a wave of relief washed over you, accompanied by a sense of anticipation as you eagerly opened the message, hoping for some news or even a brief update about his journey.
the moment you saw minghao's name appear in your notifications, a surge of joy washed over you, and you couldn't help but express your elation. silently, you let out a muffled scream, as if you were a teenager who had just received a message from their crush. the feeling was overwhelming, and you found yourself rolling on your bed, a giddy smile on your face, relishing the simple yet profound joy of seeing his message.
it was as if the day had suddenly transformed from ordinary to extraordinary, all because of a few lines of text from minghao. the anticipation of hearing from him and the reassurance that he was safely on the other side of the flight were like a warm embrace, filling your heart with a sense of comfort and connection. it was moments like these that made you truly appreciate the friendship you shared and the special place minghao had carved out in your daily life.
“this is a scheduled text. if you received this, i have already landed in paris. i love you, take care.” the message read.
as you read the message from minghao, the words "i love you" leapt out, catching you off guard and leaving you momentarily stunned. the audacity of his heartfelt expression, conveyed through a scheduled text, brought forth a mix of emotions. there was a sense of disbelief at the timing and manner of his declaration, tinged with a hint of annoyance at his boldness to express such sentiments from afar.
yet, despite these conflicting emotions, a warm and giddy feeling enveloped you. his words had a way of transcending the distance between you, bridging the gap created by the physical miles. minghao's unexpected proclamation served as a reminder of the deep bond you shared, one that had blossomed from the simple moments and shared experiences, transforming into a connection that was as sincere as it was unexpected.
just as you were processing minghao's heartfelt message, your phone began to ring, and you were taken completely by surprise when you saw the caller's name – the owner of the pub. this unexpected call brought forth a rush of questions and curiosity, leaving you to wonder what could have prompted this sudden and surprising contact from your boss, joshua hong.
“seokmin said you are friends with minghao. you might want to come to yoon medical center.”
“what?”
the owner's cryptic words and the mention of minghao's name left you in a state of bewilderment. it was as if the ground had shifted beneath your feet, and you were struggling to comprehend the gravity of the situation. what had happened to minghao? why were you being summoned to the medical center? the flood of questions raced through your mind, each one more unsettling than the last.
as you rushed to the yoon medical center, the world seemed to blur around you. the streets and buildings became a mere backdrop to your racing thoughts, all focused on minghao's well-being. you couldn't help but replay your last moments with him in your mind, the excitement of his safe arrival in paris now overshadowed by the nagging uncertainty of his current condition. the bond you had shared with him had taken root in your heart, and the fear of losing it, even for a moment, was almost too much to bear.
when you arrived at the medical center, the reality of the situation hit you with full force. the bustling of medical personnel, the hushed conversations, and the sterile scent of the hospital environment all added to the growing sense of dread that clenched at your chest. you couldn't help but wonder what had transpired, and as you made your way through the unfamiliar corridors, the suspense and anxiety intensified, a heavy weight on your shoulders that seemed to grow with every step you took.
the owner of the pub, joshua, explained the grim situation after a few moments of somber silence. "he never made it to the airport," he began, his voice heavy with sorrow. "a drunk driver hit him on the road not too far from your apartment, and doctor yoon said he didn't make it alive at the hospital as there was too much bleeding."
the words hit you like a tidal wave, and your world seemed to shatter in an instant. the shock and disbelief washed over you, leaving you struggling to process the devastating news. minghao, your friend and confidant, who had brightened your evenings and shared in your daily routine, was gone, a victim of a tragic accident that had torn him away from your life.
tears welled up in your eyes, and the weight of grief settled on your heart. the bond you had shared with minghao had grown deeper and more meaningful with each passing day, and now, you were left grappling with the harsh reality of his sudden and untimely departure. the sense of loss was overwhelming, and you couldn't help but feel a profound emptiness in the absence of your friend and the simple yet cherished moments you had shared.
joshua's words resonated deeply, and he continued, "he was also my friend. when he found out about his trip to paris, he told me to give this to you a day before his flight so you'd have something to talk about."
in his hands, joshua held out a piece of brown tissue paper, and as you accepted it, you were met with a moving sight. it was the same brown tissue paper that minghao had been sketching on that evening. the image portrayed you, sitting on a stool in the middle of the stage, your guitar in hand, captured with intricate detail. it dawned on you that he had been watching you that very evening, his artistic portrayal a testament to the shared moments you had on that stage.
as you gazed at the drawing, a mixture of emotions washed over you. it was a beautiful and poignant memento that encapsulated minghao's presence in your life.
the world became a blur that thursday. joshua insisted on driving you home, a gesture of comfort and support, which you declined. you felt the need to be alone, to process the shock and grief in solitude.
he also suggested that you didn't have to perform on friday, understanding the emotional toll of the recent events. however, you firmly declined that offer as well. performing at the local pub on friday was not just about money; it was your connection to minghao, a way to honor his memory, and a source of solace in your time of loss. it was your lifeline, and you couldn't bear the thought of letting it go, even in the face of such profound sadness.
the days ahead held uncertainty, but the routine of the pub, the music, and the memories of your time with minghao were the anchors that would help you navigate the turbulent seas of grief.
joshua and seokmin stood by your side, offering their support and presence as you navigated the difficult hours following the heart-wrenching news about minghao. their unwavering companionship served as a source of comfort during a time of profound grief.
the following evening, you found yourself back at the local pub, a place where all your cherished memories of minghao had gathered. the stage, the familiar audience, and the music had always been your sanctuary, and it was there that you sought solace and a way to honor your friend's memory.
stepping into the center of the stage, you began to sing, your voice laced with emotions that ran deep. the lyrics spoke of your sorrow, and you poured your heart into the song. the audience may not have been aware of the tragedy you were enduring, but there was an unusual silence that enveloped the room, as if they could sense the heaviness in your voice.
“i’m singing at a funeral tomorrow..
for a kid a year older than me.”
as you continued to sing, the weight of your emotions became almost unbearable. you felt a disconnection from the world, a profound sense of loss that threatened to consume you.
“jesus christ, i’m so blue all the time
and that’s just how i feel
always have and always will
always have and always will.”
grateful for the concealing embrace of the heavy red curtains, you completed the song, your spirit broken but your determination to carry on as strong as ever. the local pub had always been a place that carries peace, but now it cradles your insurmountable grief, maybe it's a good thing that you decided to perform this friday because on this night, it served as a poignant tribute to a friend whose memory would forever echo in the music and the moments you shared.

MASTERLIST
Pairing: the8 x gn!reader
Summary: you have added color to the sunsets in minghao's life
Warnings: none
Word Count: 222 (apparently the angel number for harmony & balance, minghao would be pleased)
a/n: was deeply thinking about sunsets and thinking about hao and thinking about my best friend today. you make every sunset more vibrant
Tumblr media
"Hey Hao?" you whispered softly, unsure your voice would even make it through the grain of the phone line.
"Hmm?" he hummed in response. Although it was not as late where he was, tiredness still seemed to lace the edge of his voice like a worn fringe on multicolored cloth.
"Is the sunset just as nice there?" You asked curiously. Although it was well past sunset where you were, the melted pinks and oranges were still painted vividly in your mind.
Minghao was silent for a beat before he finally responded. He always thought through his words, believing that no syllable was to be wasted, especially not with you. "No," he answered simply, firmly.
The firmness in his tone was enough to make you shift from your side and onto your back, staring at the ceiling. "Oh? Why's that?"
"It's just..." he paused. "The colors aren't as vibrant without you here."
You found yourself smiling at his words, and the earnestness behind them. "Those are some smooth words, Minghao. Someone might think you were flirting with me," you teased.
"Let them think what they want," he egged on. "I don't need to flirt with you, I'm just being honest."
You let out a quiet laugh. "I miss you," you spoke again.
"I know," Minghao replied. "One more sunset apart then I'll be with you for the rest of them."

only you - xu minghao
seventeen as romantic tropes - minghao as cold to everybody but you
non idol au, college au, minghao x gn!reader
nobody really approached minghao. every time someone came near him, it would only be to talk to the two social butterflies he has as best friends, seokmin and mingyu. the people who pass by wonder how the two managed to adopt minghao into their trio, and when asked, they also have no idea.
when it was just the three of them, minghao let himself go a little bit, enjoying the company of seokmin and mingyu. but every time they attempted to introduce minghao to another person, he goes cold and ignores the other, as if they had an illness he wouldn’t want to catch. well, until you came along.
you were an old friend of mingyu’s, having met during a sporting event in 7th grade. despite going to different schools, you befriended each other and hung out often, sometimes meeting seokmin. you were curious about minghao, asking why you weren’t able to meet the other member of their trio. all they ever said was later, and how now isn’t the right time. but, you finally convinced mingyu to let you meet this mysterious minghao, making you a little nervous.
mingyu sent the address of the cafe 20 minutes ago and you still haven’t left yet, your cat deciding to be high maintenance.
“ginger, i’ll be gone for like, 2 hours, you will survive. i promise” you spoke as she let out a protesting meow.
“oh hush. i’ll be back” you scratched her head once more before leaving your dorm to your car, finally texting mingyu that you’re on your way.
“when are they going to be here?” seokmin complained, becoming a little bored since everybody was saving conversation for when you arrived.
“they just left, ginger was causing problems again” mingyu chuckled a little at the messages of frustration you sent towards his way. minghao kept quiet, sipping his iced latte and staring out the window.
“who’s ginger? are they dating someone? is that their roommate?” seokmin asked, eyes widening in fear he had missed something.
“ginger is their cat…”
“oh. so i mean i was sorta right. cat, roommate, same thing!” he leaned back, acting cool while the corner of minghao’s lips upturned a little at his friend’s antics.
a couple more minutes passed before mingyu spotted you walking through the door, calling your name and waving you down. just as minghao was taking a sip of his drink, he looked up at you, then choked. seokmin, who was the one sitting next to him, immediately sat up into panic mode and started patting minghao’s back, asking if he was okay.
“mmm, mhm, yeah, i’m fine.”
that was so embarrassing.
“here, y/n. we saved you a seat!” mingyu dragged you over to sit you across from minghao.
“oh wow, i was so worried you guys were going to make me sit at the other side of the cafe!” you joked, to which mingyu told you not to test him.
“anyways y/n, you already know seokmin, but this is minghao! he’s the same age as us and is majoring in fine arts!” mingyu introduced you, and minghao nodded a little, as to acknowledge your presence. you waved back, a little nervous that he already might not like you.
“he’s really shy and quiet and might take awhile to warm up to you, he might not at all and if he doesn’t, don’t take it personally. this is the closest another person besides me and seok and gotten to him” mingyu whispered to you, you nodded along to his words.
“okay, i’m going to go order myself an iced latte, so-“
“i can go for you” everybody looked towards minghao, his first time speaking since you’ve arrived.
“oh, you don’t have to!”
“it’s fine, i’m going to get myself another one anyways” he gets up with a little sigh.
“you can use my card, then!” you went to fish your wallet out from your bag, but he was already walking away.
“i don’t know about you, but i personally have never seen minghao doing anything remotely that nice. not even to us” seokmin whispered shouted to you and mingyu, who were also shocked by minghao’s behavior.
“yeah, me neither. y/n, what did you do to him?!” mingyu, pushed you a little, and you shrugged.
“i don’t know! i just met him! i don’t know why he insisted on ordering and buying coffee for me!“ you whisper shouted back.
“he probably just wanted to be nice. i’ll pay him back anyways” you crossed your arms before leaning back in your seat.
“no, y/n, you don’t understand. minghao isn’t just nice, especially not to people he just met, he’s not even that nice to us. honestly, i don’t know how he tolerates us” it was mingyu’s turn to whisper shout.
“do you think he has a thing for y/n already?”
“they just met!”
“yeah but i was sitting right next to him when he saw y/n and then choked on his drink. that’s gotta mean something” seokmin reasoned, making mingyu sit back and think for a little bit. just a minute later, as mingyu was about to speak again, minghao came back with two drinks, sliding one over to you.
“oh, thank you! how much was it? i’ll pay you back!” you spoke to him, and he just shrugged.
“you don’t have to” he plopped back down into his seat, looking out the window to the flowers that lined the windowsill.
“but i want to!”
“i said no” he spoke firmly, making you sink back into your chair, nodding and taking a sip of your drink. seokmin managed to bring up a different conversation topic before letting the awkward silence saturate the air too much. to seokmin and mingyu’s surprise, minghao actually spoke and participated, speaking to you as well. he actually mainly spoke to you, ignoring the other two people sitting at your table.
just as he was speaking, your phone buzzed, your alarm to return home going off.
“oh, it’s been two hours already? i have to go now, i promised ginger i’ll only be gone two hours” you began to pick up your things, finishing off your drink.
“are you serious?” mingyu whined.
“uhh yeah. for a cat, ginger has an impressive internal clock” you stood from your chair. just as you were about to walk away, someone made a loud coughing sound, and you turned to see minghao holding his phone out to you. you tilted your head at him to question what he was doing.
“your number” he held his phone out further, to which you accepted and typed in your number.
“well, i’ll see you guys around!” you waved to them, leaving the cafe to go home to your disastrous cat.
you see the trio plus a few others a couple days later when walking from one lecture to another, minghao being the first one to wave at you, and then mingyu waving you over to hang out with them for a little bit. you watched as the other people whom you didn’t know watch in confusion as minghao acknowledges your presence from 10 feet away.
“hi y/n!” seokmin embraces you, a little too excited to see you.
“guys, this is y/n, we’ve been friends since 7th grade. y/n, these are some of our other friends; jeonghan, joshua, seungkwan, and chan” they all wave at you, except for the one called jeonghan, who decides he wants a little bit of trouble.
“why do your pants look like that?” he questioned, a playful smirk on his face. you see the guy called joshua yell his name and smack him upside the head. you weren’t necessarily offended by it, you didn’t like these pants either, and also just assumed it was probably just jeonghan’s personality.
“why are you being a dick?” minghao shoots back, and the rest of you look at him.
“i was just joking…” jeonghan trails off. he’s never really heard minghao speak except for some simple ‘heys’ and ‘hi’s being exchanged when faced with each other.
“it wasn’t that funny of a joke. their pants look fine. stop picking on them” minghao’s voice clearly stated how unamused he was at jeonghan’s comment towards you, sending him a little death glare.
“it’s fine minghao, really. i wasn’t offended by it. i also don’t like these pants but they were the only ones i had clean so!” you assured him that it was fine in hopes he would calm down a bit. it was now silent and more than a little awkward as the what - 8? of you stood around in a little quiet circle, both jeonghan and minghao embarrassed for themselves while the others relish in the second-hand embarrassment.
“i’m going to go to my next class, it was nice meeting you 4. bye!” you quickly waved yourself off, making your way to your other lecture.
minghao: we’re going to dinner at 6:30
y/n: oh? who’s we? you seok and gyu?
minghao: and you
y/n: i am??
minghao: yeah that’s why i told you
y/n: i don’t remember agreeing to this
minghao: i’ll pick you up from your dorm in 15 with seokmin and mingyu
what an interesting way to invite someone to hang out. the more you talk to minghao, the more you realize he has trouble asking for things, he’ll just kind of state what he wants and doesn’t take no for an answer unless it’s a good enough reason. though, you wouldn’t mind going out and doing things with or for a pretty boy like minghao, so you couldn’t really complain.
even though seokmin and mingyu wouldn’t shut up about how abnormal his behavior is to you, you’ve still managed to convince yourself that minghao would never like you the way you want to like him. you’re doing just about everything in your power to hold back any romantic feelings that might form for him, simply because rejection always has the bigger chance of happening.
either way, you pulled yourself up off your bed and went to go put on some decent clothing before waiting near the front door with ginger.
meeeooowwww
“okay fine, i’ll give you a little snack before i leave since dinner is going to be late tonight” you get up to feed her, but at the same time someone knocks on your door. you rolled your eyes before going to answer, minghao standing there with a small smile on his face.
“hey y/n. ready?” he asked.
“almost, gotta give ginger a snack before i leave. you can wait in here if you’d like” you offered, moving aside to let him in. the moment he laid his eyes on ginger, he’s never smiled so widely.
“hi baby” he coos at the orange tabby cat, getting down on his knees to pet her. you couldn’t help but giggle a little seeing minghao meet your cat for the first time. you quickly snapped a picture before going to fill her kibble bowl up half way.
by the time you went back, minghao was sitting cross legged on the floor with ginger laying in his lap, purring like it was the end of the world.
*snap*
“did you just take a picture of us?” he looked up and rose an eyebrow at you.
“she looked cute there, i had to” you smiled, going to collect your cat and send her off to her food bowl.
“just her? not me?” he faked pouted. you’ve never seen minghao act this way… like ever.
“i dunno, wasn’t really paying attention to you” you poked his arm, to which he rolled his eyes.
“either way, lets go. seok and gyu are probably getting grumpy from waiting” you dragged him out of your dorm by the arm, shutting the door and making your way down.
“what took the two of you so long?” mingyu yelled once you opened the car door.
“someone met ginger today”
“minghao met ginger before me?!” seokmin whined, looking back at you from the passenger seat.
“it could’ve been you if you’d gotten me” you shrugged, buckling your seatbelt.
“i got pictures of them too, if you wanna see” you leaned forward, phone in hand, minghao groaning in embarrassment while you showed photos of him and ginger to the two boys in the front seat.
“awww” seokmin cooed at the photos, zooming in on details.
“whoa… i have never seen hao smile like that before. what did you do to him? what did your cat do to him? did you poison him?” mingyu gasped.
“it’s her specialty. she knows how to automatically make people happy” you lean back, nudging minghao who’s embarrassed from his friends seeing him in that state.
“hao?” mingyu called, turning around to see his flustered state.
“shut up and drive” he grumbled, turning towards the car window. all mingyu did was giggle a little before putting the car into drive and take off down the road.
“should we go on a walk?” mingyu asked after paying the bill.
“a walk? you still do post-dinner walks?” you teased him a little. it was something the two of you would do after getting dinner after some sports game.
“uhh yeah? you DON’T?” he gasped, placing his hand on his chest.
“no?? i only took them cause you went on them!” you replied, mingyu following up with mumbles of “traitor” and “fake” while seokmin and minghao watched, thoroughly amused.
“i say yes to the walk!” seokmin chimes in, mingyu thanking him for being on his side.
“i don’t know, i’m with y/n. not really feeling up for a walk right now…” minghao looked off to the side, wanting to go home.
“fine! me and seok will go on a walk while you two can stay in the car!” mingyu grabs his keys and drags seokmin by the arm out of the restaurant.
“what a loser…” you mumbled under your breath, minghao chuckling at your words. the two of you get up to follow mingyu to his car, where he then trapped you for the next 20 minutes.
“so… i assume you and mingyu went to dinner a lot in middle and high school?” minghao asks, breaking the silence as the two of you sat in the backseat of mingyu’s car.
“yeah. we would go to sports games together and then get dinner after. mingyu always liked going on walks after to help him get some fresh air and ‘help him digest’ or something like that” you chuckled a little at the memory.
“has it ever been… like… romantic?” minghao hesitated on the question, mentally kicking himself the moment the words left his lips. this is why he stays quiet.
“romantic?”
“i mean like, has it ever been a date?”
“are you asking if we ever dated? if so, not at all. people would mistake us for a couple a lot though. sometimes we faked young love for like a free dessert or something, but we’ve never dated. i’ve never liked him like that. he’s just my best friend”
“oh cool. so you’re like… not seeing anyone right now?” he pushed himself once more, wanting to turn to a mirror and scream at himself for continuing to talk.
“nope. are you?” you returned the question, turning your body towards his nervous figure.
“no”
“cool”
it was then silent again for a couple minutes, both of you lost in your own thoughts. he was definitely hinting at something here, were you reading his signals right? were you overthinking it? you heard minghao gasp as he opened his mouth to say something. you turned to him, but nothing came out. he also turned to you, cheeks a little pinking and the tips of his ears burning a bright red.
“d-do… do you… uh… um…”
“do i…?”
“do you like um oh i don’t know maybe like uh-“
“minghao, do you want to go on a date with me?” you asked. he looked at you, wide eyed and jaw dropped. he couldn’t believe you beat him to that. yes he could, he just couldn’t believe you liked him like that.
“well? don’t leave me hanging, hao” you smiled a little as he glitched, moving some hair from his eyes. his heart fluttered and was now dancing in his chest, leaving adrenaline to rush through his veins.
“yes… god yes i would love to. i can’t believe you beat me to this, i could kiss you-“ he stopped right after that, hoping you were barely listening to him.
“so then kiss me?” you leaned forward a little to encourage him.
“i dunno… i’m not really a kiss-before-the-first-date type of person” he playfully tapped his finger against his lips. you smiled at him.
“neither am i, i guess theres firsts for everything, right?” you tilted your head at him a little.
“one kiss definitely wouldn’t hurt…” he grinned before leaning in to kiss you. one kiss turned into two, two turned into three, and three turned into-
“REALLY?! ARE YOU TWO ACTUALLY BEING SERIOUS RIGHT NOW???” mingyu screamed once he opened the drivers door, peaking in at the two of you making out in the back of his car.
“i’m so sick, seokmin you’re driving” mingyu hobbled over to the passenger seat, clutching his stomach.
“so dramatic, isn’t he?” seokmin grinned at the two of you in the backseat, ignoring how you two looked like deers in headlights, just a little pinker than they would be.
“drive, seokmin, drive! i can’t stand to be around them!” mingyu cried out, slumping over himself.
“keep being dramatic and i’ll kiss you next” you threatened, getting him to act right.
“please go faster” mingyu whisper-shouted to seokmin, leading to minghao reaching over to slap his forehead.
“you’re so bitchless”

"Seventeen is coming to our country!!"
"Really?!!" you asked your bestie
"Not all of them. Only the performance unit and Scoups," she said.
"At least Minghao is coming. Oh my poor hearteu!"
"Stop being a delulu. It's too cringe," she said while giving you a disgusted look.
"Ok ok. Stop looking at me like that. Let's go now, " you let out, after taking a sip from your boba tea. You were intending to go shopping with your bestie since you had free time.
TIME SKIP
You were finally done with shopping and now going to a nearby park that your bestie recommended. She went home already but you decided to do something else. Your eyes were locked at the sight of the lavish greeneries. You were too stunned to speak. You've always loved nature and the park was luxuriant and peaceful.
Not before long, the calm environment shattered due to the screams of some people. You looked in the direction of the sound. 'Was it the paparazzi?' you thought to yourself looking confused. You brushed away your thought and decided to go somewhere else since you hate loud noises. As you were walking, you saw a guy panting hard. You couldn't see his face properly as his face was facing the ground. Just then, he slowly lifted his face and you were dumbfounded to see Minghao. 'What the heck? Am I daydreaming or what,' you thought to yourself and realized that he was actually running away from his crazy fans and also from the paparazzi. Without thinking twice, you grabbed his left arm and started dragging him toward a bush. You can feel Minghao trying to yank away your hand but it wasn't possible as your grip was firm. As pulled into the bush you put your palm one his mouth and shushed him.
"Wait wait. Don't shout. I'm not a sasaeng fan. I will explain to you in a while. Let the paparazzi go first," you whispered to him. Luckily you learnt Korean after becoming a K-pop fan. You can now easily communicate with Minghao in Korean. After a while, you stood up slowly and checked the surroundings making sure there was no one around. Then, you told Minghao to get up. Before he could tell anything, you cut him off.
"Please don't shout at me or do anything like that. I just wanted to help you. I'm a carat," you said panicking.
"Ok ok. Calm down. I just wanted to say thank you for saving me," he said with a beaming smile that made your heart flutter which you simply replied by saying 'my pleasure'.
"Umm. Sorry to disturb you but do you know the way to the hotel named Del Luna?" he asked you nervously.
"Of course, I know. I live here anyway. You can come with me in my car if you feel comfortable with it,"
"Oh really? I would love to. Thank you,"
"Your welcome"
TIME SKIP
You were now driving to the hotel Minghao mentioned earlier. You were trying to concentrate on driving not being able to believe that you saved your idol, your favourite idol earlier. Your heart was beating so hard that it would come out any moment.
"Not to mention but are you feeling comfortable? And do you trust me?" you asked him anxiously.
"What made you think that? If I didn't feel comfortable and trust you, why would I ask you for help?" he asked giggling. Your cheeks turned crimson red seeing him giggle. After all, he was your favourite idol and your crush too.
TIME SKIP
Minghao and you talked for sometime. You even caught him stealing glances at you. Not before long, you both arrived at your destination. As soon as he stepped out of the car, Scoups ran toward him worried checking up on him. Minghao said something to him but you couldn't hear it properly then Scoups turned to you and thanked you for saving Minghao. You could see his dimple popping out which showed that he was genuinely happy now.
"Umm. Minghao? Can I get your number? I just-
"Yeah, sure. Here," he said. You were grinning like a Cheshire cat and bowed to him thanking him. At least you managed yourself from jumping up and down in excitement. Your inner self was screaming.
"Maybe we could catch up later," Minghao said and winked at you. Oh boy, what was he doing to your poor heart? You gave him an excited smile which he gladly returned back with an approving one. That night all you could think about is Minghao and you slowly drifted to your dreamland with a smile.
TIME SKIP
It has been a few weeks since you and Minghao became good friends and hung out a lot. You were actually quite surprised when you found out that you and he have many things in common which made your relationship with him closer.
Whilst you were reading a book, you got a call from Minghao telling you that he wanted to meet you and you agreed. Later, you both met at the rooftop of the hotel he was currently staying.
"The reason I called you earlier was to tell you that I'm going back to South Korea in two days," he said and sighed deeply. Your heart shattered into million pieces as it has only been a few weeks since you guys met and he's going back already?
"But we can still be in touch, right?" you asked him with a hopeful look in your eyes.
"I guess so but I want to confess something. I- I lov-ve you!" he let out with a deep sigh. He glimpsed at you who was looking puzzled not believing what he said just now. Your brain was trying to process everything but you were still a blur.
"Uh? Am I heari-"
Before you could even finish your sentence he pulled you closer in his embrace, sliding his arms around your waist making your breath hitch. He pecked your forehead.
"I know you love me too. Don't be shocked. I know it's too much to take in but I love you and that's all I know," he said sincerely which made your heart melt and you hugged him back.
"But what about carats and the paparazzi and your job? You could lose everything because of me," you stated worriedly.
"I'm a human too. I also have something called feelings. Why should idols always have to sacrifice everything? Don't worry. I will take care of everything and now I just want you. I only want you to be by my side and support me. Plus, my parents already know that I love you and since I will go back to South Korea. Take your time and choose what you are saying going to do. Whether you want to come with me to Korea or stay here. Remember that I will always respect your opinion. So, don't worry love," Minghao said while cupping your rosy cheeks.
"I love you too Minghao and give me some time. I guess I will come with you later on. Not alone but with my bestie. She's also a carat anyways," you said while smiling while Minghao connected his lips with your soft ones slowly kissing with enough passion. You also kissed him back but you couldn't ignore the fact that your heart was beating like crazy. It was a picture-perfect moment with you kissing him, the orange sunset glowing making the environment romantic.
Little did you know, it was just the beginning of your story. You will always treasure this moment.

𝑻𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚, 𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒘, 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓"
•𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑹𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆•
~THE END~
A/n : This fanfic is purely based on my imagination only. I hope this is good enough to make you guys happy. Thank you for supporting me. It means a lot for me.. Thanks to my besties too<3...

To the coolest and cutest, Hao <3
Xu Minghao, the man of infinite talents, you're my comfort person. I think knowing someone like you must feel so peaceful. There would be no standards to reach and no expectations to meet. I think I could laugh and cry without thinking that maybe you'd find me ugly. You're so calming Hao.
Thank you for being you amidst everyone. I appreciate you being so open and honest about everything, especially about the parasocial relationships fans can't help but have sometimes with their idols. Thanks to you, I've learned how to love Seventeen as idols and at most, as friends.
You, your art, fashion, music and performances show how hard you've worked and we're beyond proud. You're the coolest person I know but sometimes I just want to coddle you because you're so goddamn cute. Thank you for taking care of yourself and your hyungs so well. You shine so bright, the apple of my eyes.
I know how hard it is to leave home, cry alone at night but you still kept going and you still are. I hope you get to go home more often. I wish I could tell you that your home's not going anywhere. You've given us so much love and bundles of warmth so I can only hope that you receive ours well too.
Like always, believe in yourself and take care. You're beautiful just the way you are and carats will always have Seventeens back. The next time it rains, I'll have tea and think about you Hao. I love you and thank you.

PAIRING: minghao x reader
GENRE: fluff, humor
WC: 546
NOTES: nothing just cuteness-
SUMMARY: car rides with the boys lead to an unexpected (but not unwelcomed) surprise
“Guys, be quiet.”
The snickering falls down to a whisper, several of the boys sending minghao one last knowing look.
Minghao ignores the others in the car, instead opting to glance out the window. I mean, there wasn’t much else he could do in a cramped car with 3 other guys, and ah, right-
you asleep on his shoulder.
He swears one minute you were chatting happily with him and seungcheol, and the next minute you were dozing off, head softly falling onto Hao’s shoulder.
Once the others in the car noticed, the giggles and teasing started.
“Hao’s whipped.”
“He would never let anyone else do that.”
“Chan accidentally did that once and then minghao got up so that he would fall down...”
He sighed, eye twitching in annoyance. “Are you guys done?”
They went on for a couple of minutes, finally settling down when seungcheol told them off.
When everyone else seems occupied, minghao secretly sneaks a peek at you.
You’re sleeping peacefully in what must be a comfortable spot for you resting on his shoulder, soft breaths puffing out and eyebrows furrowed.
He softly smiles, wondering what you’re thinking about in your sleep that would cause you to make that face.
But then the sound of a picture being taken catches him by surprise, head whipping around to find the perpetrator.
Hoshi meets his stare with wide eyes and a phone positioned in his hands at the two of you like a hamster caught doing something it wasn’t supposed to.
Dokyeom giggles from the front, bringing a hand to his mouth to stifle his laughs and prevent any further sounds that would disturb your sleep.
“You couldn’t have been any more discreet about it...”
Hoshi bites his lip, apologizing sheepishly. “Sorry. Couldn’t help myself.”
Unfortunately, the sound awakens you, making your eyes force themselves open and your head lift from its spot on his shoulder.
Groggily, you look at your surroundings, finding 3/4 of the other boys cautiously staring at you.
You unconsciously wipe your mouth in case of drool, and minghao has to hold back a grin at that.
“What’s going on?”
Hoshi grins, nudging minghao from the other side of you. “Why don’t you ask hao?”
You frown, looking at him before your brain truly wakes up, and it hits you.
“....did I fall asleep the whole ride on your shoulder?”
He shrugs, “it wasn’t that uncomfortable.”
Hoshi cuts in, “Yeah, and you’re the only one who gets that privilege because he lik-“
Minghao pinches him hard, effectively shutting him up with a pained yelp.
“Oh,” you glance down and then back up at him. “Thanks, Hao. I had a good sleep because of you.”
Suddenly, but still hesitantly, his hand inches over to wrap around yours, squeezing it gently. Your breath hitches as you look at him, taken aback but gladly accepting his warmth.
You both bashfully glance away in opposite directions, you looking out the window and minghao focusing quite intensely on the ground in front of him.
Seungcheol smiles at the sight of you two from the driver’s mirror.
Ah, the blooming of love.
Afterward, minghao has to admit the photo hoshi took of you two was pretty cute. (and the perfect photo to save as his wallpaper.)

outgrown
pairing: non-specific idol | reader
genre: angst
warning/s: none
The light in front of my house doesn’t flicker tonight. I thought this was a sign that the universe was still on my side, still rooting for me but as I look at it now, it should have felt like an omen.
“[Name], are you listening?”
I focus on him now, his half lit face in the darkness. This view only came in flashes before because the flickering lamp lights. On those nights, I wished that the light would work so I could remember them better. The nights where his hoodie was zipped up, where we talked in hushed tones outside my house sharing fried chicken before his curfew, where he still felt like home. I wish the light flickered tonight so I don’t have to remember this night so damn clearly.
“Yeah. Sorry. I just needed a minute.”  Even in this poorly lit street, I can still see his eyes soften and notice his hand moving to reach me but stops halfway. His hand remains at a soft grip for the rest of the conversation.
“You don’t have anything to say?”
My neighbourhood’s streets were too small for cars so even if I wanted to drown out the sound of his words with heavy traffic, luck was not on my side. I try to look at him through the black mask he wore to cover half his face and the cap he threw on to cover his eyes but I can’t see anything I have seen before.
“Am I supposed to?”
“No. But maybe you’d feel better if you said something.”
He was always so considerate. I kinda wish he wasn’t so I felt better about this moment but he was incapable of being anything but.
“I don’t know what to say.”
“You don’t have to think too hard about it.”
He was always so comforting. Like the blanket I could never let go of as a child. No matter how bad it smelled and how much my mom begged me to let it go at least to get it washed, I felt like I could never go on a day without it. I guess I’d have to learn to go on without him too.
“Is this because of me?”  Why did I just ask that? I don’t know what answer I was expecting. He could never tell me it was and I probably could never accept it. He looks at me and removes his cap to run his hand through his hair. The sadness in his eyes as he looks at me is too much and I look away. In the corner of my eye, I can see him about to move towards me but hesitate.
“No. This isn’t your fault at all. It’s mine.”
Despite his reassurance it wasn’t my fault, I just couldn’t believe him. It was my fault that I expected him to stay the same despite his life being so different from what it used to be when we first got together. I set myself up. The hurt I was feeling right now came out of my own expectations. I decided to break the silence and ask him for one last thing.
“Can I just ask for a hug before you go?”
He doesn’t answer me but moves to wrap his arms around me. I rest my head on his shoulder and close my eyes. I try to remember how he felt and how he smells. I hope he never pulls away but eventually, he does. He puts his cap back on and says something about how we can still hang out and be friends. He turns to walk away but I stay there. I wish I could say he turns around and hugs me one last time but he doesn’t. He just keeps walking.
As I watch him leave, I shield myself from further heartbreak and tell myself that we’ve outgrown each other. No matter how much I try to say otherwise, he was right. We weren’t children around the playground anymore. Our world was so much bigger than it used to be. But that realization didn’t stop me from feeling like the child who just lost her favorite blanket again.

last - xu minghao
"i dont want our first time to be our last."
pairing ; xu minghao x fem!reader
genre ; suggestive (haaahahhahaa), est relationship, hao and reader are graduates (kinda)
warnings ; implied mature themes, first time together but not first time overall
wordcount ; 0.7k
synopsis ; youre going to the states for college, minghaos pursuing his dream in korea. and hes gonna miss you, badly.
note - hao is so bf in this pic help
read below the cut !
"i got accepted into pledis, and ive decided, that i want to take the chance ive been given." minghao told y/n, letting her down easy.
'huh', she thought. it finally made sense to her now, why hed been slightly more distant then normal, and why now, with 2 months left of summer before her freshmen year of college, that he decided so abruptly that they needed to meet up.
"so thats it? youre going to korea, and im going to california? im glad youre doing what makes you happy but, why couldnt you have told me sooner? theres not much time left and we both know long distance relationships never work, i mean most movies end with the main characters being across the state, but across the world? 9066km is way to far-"
minghao cuts her off with a soft kiss, his hand moving up to her shoulder, grip growing tighter with every passing second.
the loving kiss which was meant to shut his talkative girlfriend up began to rise into something a little more.
"you worry a lot, you know?" he playfully scoffed while he leaned back, resting his forehead against hers as he moves the same hand which once rested on her shoulder, up to the back of her head.
"im just, really, really gonna miss you.." y/n whispers, before pulling him again once more by the collar of his dress shirt.
minghao lowly whimpers as y/n slightly nips at his lower lip with her teeth, then goes in for another kiss with minghao licking her own bottom lip, asking for her to let him in during the process.
pulling away, he pushes y/n down onto the bed, adding pressure onto her lower stomach with his own body weight before he goes to hover over her.
she reaches up to run her fingers through his hair, tilting her head to give minghao more access to her neck as he leans down, licking and sucking to find that one spot where she knows splotches of red would be left for her to remember him by for days.
y/n sighed as she listened to the wet sounds of minghao kissing on her neck, biting back a whimper as he reached the one spot on her neck he loved marking the most.
moving one arm down, he leaned onto his right arm while pressing his lower body into the girl below him, slightly grinding his bulge into her clothed heat through it all.
"youre so good to me, hao." she mutters into his ear, leaving a small peck on the side of his head.
he just mumbled something incoherent in response.
with his free hand, he swiftly unbuttoned the top portion of y/ns blouse, slipping his hand under her little black bralette he would always praise her in as he would watch her get dressed.
before he could do anything else, y/n quickly held minghaos wrist. as soon as he felt her hold around him, he pulled his hand back and sat up. "whats wrong? did i hurt you? he questioned with a genuine but concerned tone, using a soft voice that always managed to have y/ns head spinning.
"not at all, its just, youre leaving, and im scared."
"dont be scared, my love. im here for you, you can tell me anything. do you not want to? its fine if you dont, we can stop-" "hao, im okay. its just.." she interrupts him, then pauses.
"just?"
"i dont want our first time to be our last."
"i understand. just know i still love you."
"i love you too. but, i want to. it just feels like we are already saying goodbye even though we havent left yet."
"we arent saying goodbye. just see you later. even so, its not for another 2 months."
"but what if you meet someone better then me? what if she treats you better then i ever can? what if-" minghao stops her mid sentence with yet another kiss on the lips, but shorter then the first.
"theres no one better then you. ill visit you when i can. and when i do, we can do anything you want. fast, or slow." "ew." "you cant say ew just as im about to fuck you."
"youre right."
"you dont have to, y/n. you can back out now, its not to late."
"no, im ready." she gives him a reassuring smile.
"then, let me take care of you tonight. ill go soft on you."

THE WEEKND SERIES: HEARTLESS - XU MINGHAO
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
author’s note: badass au since minghao deserves it.
synopsis: working together every day while keeping a secret is not always easy, but it has its perks.
word count: 0.5k | genre: humour/crack, fluff, dark themes (violence) | pairing: minghao x gn! reader | warnings: mentions of violence, cursing, death
the masterpost to this series can be found here.
you felt a grip on you, strong arms grabbing you from behind. your instinct was to kick your attacker, earning a loud yelp from the other person, the grip on your middle section loosening in the blink of an eye. “what are you doing, idiot?” you instantly knew who the sentence belonged to, your partner minghao. “i told you to stop grabbing me from behind! how would i supposed to know if you are the enemy or not? this was well deserved.” you smirked while turning around your heels only to be met with an angry minghao rubbing his shin. “i always forget how hard you can kick.” he said while rolling his eyes. “shut up, i need to focus on the target.” you demanded, turning your attention towards the corner of the rooftop of the building across, scanning the surroundings. “always so focused on work, aren’t you?” he noted while sneaking behind you to kiss your neck. “minghao, seriously. you know we cannot be caught, partners are forbidden from having romantic relationships with each other.” you hushed him and brushed his hands away, looking into the viewer of the sniper. “relax, they are not monitoring us right now, i already hacked the intercoms so we could have a peaceful moment to ourselves.” he whispered into your ear. “no wonder why they hired you years ago, you are truly a pro.” you snickered while peeking up at him, catching his lips in a deep kiss. “you are not so strict now, hmm?” he whispered seductively. “hmm, cannot resist you.” you mumbled back, eyes hooded. he gently pulled your gaze back on the mission by your chin. “although i’d love to continue this with you i have work to do.” he said while slipping away to check something on his computer. after some time you spoke up. “okay this is the moment!” you shouted from your spot while positioning your weapon in the target’s direction, shooting it once, and the bullet reaching its intended destination. “good job baby.” he cheered while looking up from his computer. “you are so heartless.” he giggled. “shooting people every day.” you popped a lollipop into your mouth, a sweet treat after completing the task successfully. “don’t tell me you don’t enjoy fighting these bastards every day. you wouldn’t be here if you didn’t like it.” you stopped chewing on the handle of the candy, taking it out. “and besides, you wouldn’t love me either, right, hacker boy? admit it, you love the dangerous rush.” you commented with a wink. “we’ve been dodging death with crazy speed, i hope karma won’t take revenge on us though.” he hugged you from behind when the timer on his watch suddenly went off. “here’s your karma babe.” you chuckled, pushing him away. “okay, time to go back to normal, no more love or we will both get fired.” he ordered firmly, but the glint of playfulness in his eyes gave him away. you gave him a thumbs up, grinning. “mission accepted, sir.”

坠入你的怀抱: FALLING IN YOUR ARMS
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: idol!minghao x idol!reader
genre: fluff, idol au.
徐明浩: it's a long and exhausting day for both of you after dispatch revealed your relationship.
Tumblr media
the article immediately goes viral, you both want to reveal it yourselves, but dispatch spends their time exposing your relationship to the world. they continue to squandered their time invading other people's privacy.
it became so widely known that interviewers wanted to talk with both of you. the truth is eventually revealed to the entire world. some people hated your relationship, while others are happy that you finally have one.
"your schedule is full today, and the interviewers are also outside this building," your manager sighed, "so we'll exit through the other door."
you get a message from your partner minghao, who hasn't talked to you about the article since morning and has just texted you as he usually does.
"are you out for a schedule?" he asked, and you replied yes, explaining that you had a busy day ahead of you. he sends you an emoji that says "fighting!" and makes you smile.
with the assistance of bodyguards and your manager, you go towards the other exit, which is likewise encircled by interviewers, after wearing your mask and dark sunglasses. this is due to the fact that it is less crowded than the front exit, which is why your manager chose it.
"are you really dating xu minghao from seventeen?"
"can you confirm if the articles were true?"
"some fans don't appear to approve of your relationship. what are your thoughts?"
you were eventually able to get into the vehicle. after removing your mask and finally breathing better than before, you brush your hair up and remove your glasses. it's only the start, yet it's already exhausting.
you look down at your phone once more. "will my company bighit and pledis confirm this?" you queried your manager. "i guess they will today, because you two were too blatant to deny it."
"are we really obvious?" you whispered, leading your manager to chuckle at you. "i warned him to stop staring at me when we're in an award show," you mumbled.
once you've recorded your solo dancing practice for your upcoming comeback. you thanked your dancers, who were all aware of your relationship with minghao and kept their lips firmly together as they had promised. they couldn't be happier for you.
"thank you guys! get home safe!" you exclaimed, bowing to them. "you're one of the nicest idols i've met, so don't worry the horrible comments at all," one of your dancers remarked.
"i'm not nice at all!" you joked. one of the dancers exlcaimed a, "yes she's not nice at all for eating a chicken in front of me after i told her i'm on a diet."
"i told you to eat more, not go on a diet," you laughed as they hugged you and exited the dance studio, waving goodbye and bowing respectfully at you.
you already know that this day will happen, you're in the same building as your boyfriend, so you're certain to be caught.
you approached your bag and thanked your team for a job well done today. after that, you run outside to take a wash and change your clothes before mcing the music bank.
in reality, it's a busy schedule. following that, you'll go to a recording studio to record your new song, which will be published as a bonus track for your album, and then you'll appear on a variety show.
you were drained just thinking about your schedules. considering on your most recent conversation with minghao, he's most likely just as busy as you are.
Tumblr media
he's on his way into the car, where his manager is waiting, after finishing the last schedule. "can we go to y/n?" he questioned. as you mentioned, you're in the hotel after your schedule.
"sure," his manager says, nodding. "you must have wanted to see them today, huh?" he asks.
"they're the only person who can comfort me better than anyone," he said as he rested his eyes until he arrived at your hotel.
to: my love
i'll stop by. i want to see you.
when he arrived outside the hotel and checked in on the same floor as you, he asked for your hotel number. after looking for your room, he knocked on your door. as you open the door, the lights are turned off with only the television as your light.
he falls back into your arms, amidst the noises of the television and the moonlight streaming through your veranda. he's home.
he hugged your waist, his head resting in the crook of your neck, whispering, "hold me closer."
he wants to stay like this forever, feeling each other's warmth. enjoy things you like, have fun without others around you with their cameras, pointing and showing every move that you do.
"you did well," you murmured as you clutched him even tighter in your arms. all of your exhaustion, as well as your worries from the day, melt away.
you realized that without him, you'll never know what it's like to feel this comfort, to hold someone for warmth in the middle of a cold night, this close without thinking of anything other than the two of you.
you both realized that, regardless of what others may think or disapprove, you know each other better than they do, you knew your love is strong enough to make both of you stay amidst of chaos.

Xu Minghao (徐明浩)
Happy belated birthday, @aliceu!! You always tease me with this concept (because of that SINGULAR typo I made that one time), so hopefully, I can beat you at your own game and make you soft with this! You’re always so kind, fun, and accepting, and I hope your birthday was the bestest. Love ya!
.
.
.
You and Minghao bust through the front door of your apartment in a flurry of damp hair and wet limbs, trying your best to escape the sudden vicious downpour outside. You slammed the door behind you like you’d just escaped the clutches of a pursuer.
There was a heavy moment of silence where you just stared at each other before breaking out in giggles.
“I’m so sorry!” Minghao got out. “I checked the forcast, but I guess...”
You shook your head. “No, no, it’s fine!” you assured him. “Your poor hair, though,” you said, pointing to his dyed locks that now trickled droplets of red down his ears and neck. You slipped off your wet shoes and socks, scurrying off down the hall to grab your matching bathrobes, leaving water droplets in your wake like Hansel and Gretel’s trail of breadcrumbs.
Without really having to say anything, you both just naturally turned away from each other, peeling yourselves out of your wet clothes and slipping on the warm, fluffy robes. You both still looked like a mess, but at least you were warm. “C’mon,” you said, ushering him to the bathroom. “Let’s get you dried off.”
“What about you?” he asked, pouting a little.
“You first,” you insisted with a smile. “You’re gonna get stained if we leave you like that, and that’s not a cute look.” He couldn’t really argue with you on that, so he just let you lead him to the bathroom, sitting him down on the edge of the tub.
You grabbed a towel, gently drying his pretty locks. The rain trailed down the window panes in wavy lines, casting these dreamy, psychedelic shadows into the room. It looked like you were underwater. The occasional rumble of thunder felt calming, and somewhat like the ocean’s rolling waves.
“You’re very pretty,” Minghao said, entirely unprompted and out-of-the-blue.
You furrowed your brows. “Oh, is that so?” He nodded in confirmation. “Well then, thank you. Kinda random, though.”
“I’d just been thinkin’ about it for a while,” he shrugged. “Not just today, but like, all the time. And having you here, soaking wet but still choosing to take care of me first, and being so careful not to pull my hair—it just feels domestic, and y’know... I wouldn’t mind stuff like this happening all the time.”
You smiled, a glint of mischievousness in your eyes. You knew exactly the intention of his words, but you couldn’t help but tease him. “You wish we’d always get stuck in the rain? What a weird fantasty.”
He rolled his eyes, but his smile was obvious. “You know what I meant,” he said. He sighed contendedly, staring up at you. Wordlessly, he rose to his feet, taking your hand in his own and placing your other on his shoulder. Slowly, he swayed you back and forth, starting to hum a tune after a moment.
The bathroom was too small for any big movements, but he held you close to maximize the space. You could feel his cold skin pressed against you, but for whatever reason, it felt so warm. You giggled at each other as he spun you under his arm.
You teased him, as you always would, but you’d have to admit... You could get used to bathroom dancing with him, too.

it's been way too long since there was a minghao ask posted. I present to you, lazy afternoons with hao cause domestic hao is everything🤕 him running his fingers through your hair, tracing patters on your back because you're lying on top of him, maybe you're even cockwarming him but there's nothing sexual about it, both of you are just enjoying each other's company, wanting to be as close as humanly possible. there's probably music playing in the background, I'm thinking chet baker</3 bonus points if it's raining or if it's chilly and you're looking for warmth and comfort in each other's arms
WHEN IS MY TURN TO BE HAPPY:((((((
DOMESTIC HAO 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 this is a teeny bit different from what you described but now that i have this thought i must say it 💔 cockwarming hao in bed, his chest pressed to your back as his arms wrap around your waist securely, holding you as closely to him a possible while you read to him. the room is mostly quiet save for the soft music playing in the background, the pitter patter of the rain against the window, and the gentle, almost melodic lilt of your voice as you read along to one of your favourite books. occasionally, minghao will stroke your hair lovingly, or slip his hands under your shirt to aimlessly trace patterns on your stomach, or even ‘i love you’ so he can see you look over your shoulder and send him a shy, loving smile when it registers what he just traced on your skin. the feeling of your warm walls hugging his cock and the closeness between you two just fills him with so much love, and it makes him want to savour every moment he has with you because you bring him so much joy and comfort. he’d also trail gentle kisses all over your neck, smiling contently against your warm skin at the sound of your light giggles.

[the way to a man’s heart is his stomach… the way to minghao’s heart is an iced latte]
artsy
athlete!reader x art kid!minghao
notes: afab!reader, high school au, some stereotypes, minghao is shy, reader is bold but confused, sorry but not sorry to physics lovers
on your way to buy an iced latte from the nearest coffee shop, you receive a text from jun.
junhui: half the ice and bring an extra sugar packet
junhui: thank me later ;)
you slightly rolled your eyes but nevertheless, followed jun’s instructions for how to get minghao’s iced latte.
after retrieving the drink, you made your way back to the school, texting jun to ask him what room he was in; it’s not like you visited the art hall often.
y/n: what room is he in?
junhui: don’t know, just look till you see him
y/n: wow, thanks
you sighed, now making your way to the art hall, starting your hunt for minghao.
surprise surprise, he was in the very last room you’d check at the very end of the hallway. you stood there for a moment, looking at him through the glass. he had his pretty red hair pulled back into a small ponytail and a headband, probably to keep the hair out of his face while he works.
standing there like a creep, you watched him work for a few more seconds before gathering yourself back together and knocking on the door, letting him know of your presence.
he didn’t jump at all, but just turned around and glanced at you, standing outside the door with what looked to be like his favorite drink in your hand. he tilted his head a little in confusion as to why you of all people were there, but nevertheless gave you a signal to come in.
you grabbed the handle a little too excitedly and pulled the door open, slowly making your way to the chair next to him, but not sitting down yet.
“can i help you?” he asked, not looking up from the oil painting he was doing.
“i uh… i wanted to apologize again for bumping into you and making you drop all your things the other day… i saw you were also friends with jun and asked him your favorite drink… so i brought you it. as an apology…” you slowly cringed at your words and extended your hands holding the drink out to him. this was way out of your normal actions, not even your closest friends got apologies like this from you.
he stopped what he was doing and looked up at you slowly. his eyes looked between you and the drink a few times before accepting it, making you exhale the breath you didn’t even know you were holding.
“thank you, y/n. it’s fine, really. you didn’t have to get me this,” he chuckled with a small smile, inserting the straw into the cup to take a sip.
“no! i wanted to… but also, how do you know my name?” containing your excitement just being near him was the most difficult thing you’ve ever done. you knew why he knew your name, you just needed a conversation changer.
“oh my god, are you really asking me how i know your name? don’t you know who you are?” he near-scoffed before taking a sip.
“i mean yeah but like i don’t know… sometimes i kinda underestimate how many people know me,” you shrugged.
“may i?” you asked, pointing to the seat.
“…sure,” he was hesitant with answering which made you nervous to sit down, but you went through with it.
as you sat and he got back to work, you realized just how psycho he probably thinks you are. you literally (unintentionally) found out who his best friend was, talked to said best friend to get info about him, brought him a drink and now you’re invading his personal space. you’re crazy.
shaking out of your thoughts with how awkward the room felt, you initiated another conversation.
“what are you working on?” you asked him quietly.
“just this…” he moved away a little bit to show you. it was the piece you had picked up the other day and told him he should finish.
“oh, it’s that one!” you exclamation, happy he had decided to finish it.
“yeah, i looked at it again and decided it had potential so i decided to finish it today,” he said softly with a short sigh, continuing to do his thing.
“don’t you have practice or something today?” he asked just a few seconds later, not even looking up at you.
“oh… um… yeah i do”. you didn’t.
“yeah, you should go to that so you don’t get into trouble or whatever…” he said softly through his breath, still not looking up at you.
“yeah you’re right, thanks for reminding me. well um, i’ll see you around… minghao” you quickly gathered your things to leave the room as quick as possible, rushing out the door and almost sprinting down the hallway out of embarrassment. he had just asked you to leave without actually saying it.
unbeknownst to you, you had run off too fast to see the slight blush creep onto minghao’s cheeks when you said his name, and how he turned to watch you run off. he was scared he had scared you off or made you feel uncomfortable with how quickly you left, but just decided to focus on this painting.
