1 ( is that my jacket ) and 15 ( the hate you and i adore you prompt- ) with ANY MEMBER ( kwan or soonyoung maybe ??? ), crush but covered by an enemies relationship dkdgkdhd
i think that'd be really cute FKHDKDHD
. . . 🐯 anon ( if it's not taken- jddgjdkd )
lights up
Tumblr media
pairing: non-idol!seungkwan x gn!reader
word count: 1.0k~
warnings: reader and seungkwan have a kind-of rocky relationship hinted at. not really enemies to lovers (would probably be if these were longer!! let them bicker.) idiots to lovers probably lmao.
daisy’s notes: slight word change w "i adore you, actually" -> "i actually adore you" bc my prompts my rules lmao (also i'll change phrasing as i want so that things flow better) + also you can beat me up for going over 1k (also horanghae <3)
Tumblr media
boo seungkwan was your sworn enemy for life, all because you spilled paint on him when you were both in kindergarten.
in his defense, the sweater he was wearing at the time was his favorite (he told you this while sobbing and yelling at you, saying his mom was going to be mad despite showing up the next week with it completely clean). in your defense, the girl next to you had pushed you a little too hard and that was what caused you to spill it. but those details were probably lost to time, and definitely ignored in that moment in favor of you arguing back to seungkwan as well as two little kids could argue.
of course, your encounters with seungkwan didn't end there. the two of you ended up in the same damn elementary class and the same high school after a thankful reprieve with the two of you attending different middle schools. which... admittedly, didn't help too much because he lived right down the road from you and your dad was friends with his mom. but at least you didn't have to see him every single day at school for a few years.
even if you did end up at the same university. which, frankly, you couldn't blame him: it was a pretty damn good school and you could keep to yourself across campus. you didn't even really hate him much anymore, honestly--seungkwan, when he wasn't anywhere near you, was sweet and talkative and funny. you were kind of jealous of his friends deep down because he seemed like he'd changed a lot as he grew up. maybe you had, too... until boo fucking seungkwan started picking arguments in you during your gen ed classes together. even if he was cute, you weren't going to back down just because he's "kind of" cute and funny.
if seungkwan talked badly about you to his friends, you wouldn't know. one of your friend was stage manager for the theatre department's winter musical, and several of seungkwan's friends were in the production itself. after some begging on your friend's part because you weren't busy for rehearsals and you knew the light system from when he explained it to you before, you agreed to help out. seokmin was nice to you and usually made pleasant conversation, junhui had very kindly let you knew where the actors hid snacks backstage when you lamented missing dinner (with a promise not to tell anyone), and the sound guy--vernon chwe, boo seungkwan's best friend--seemed to be nice enough. if he hated you because of seungkwan, vernon didn't show it. he showed up, made pleasant conversation in the sound/lights booth, and did his job right. you could appreciate that a lot.
but now you were searching for your jacket after one of the last few shows. you'd left it backstage because the theater was hot and meant to move it, but ended up having to book it to the booth to run a lights check before the show. and now the stupid thing was gone, and it was freezing outside so if you left, you'd probably end up getting sick and--
"hey."
and you look up and theres boo seungkwan, holding your jacket in his arms. he looks sheepish the moment you see him, but straightens up.
"is that my jacket?" you asked, already feeling annoyed. of course seungkwan picked it up. he usually hung around the theatre because vernon was working sound, but tonight he had come to the show. you could see his yellow sweater from the booth.
he looked down, and then nodded. "you left it. seokmin asked if i could leave it on a chair for you, but i..." he looked away. "i didn't want someone else to pick it up."
part of you thought he was being genuine. the other was pretty damn sure (and louder than any rational thought) that seungkwan would have loved to see someone steal your jacket. "you don't have to pretend. we're the only ones here."
he blinked at you. "huh?"
"you hate me," you folded your arms over your chest. "you always have ever since we were kids. we literally argue every time we're in class together--"
"i don't hate you," he said. "why do you think i hate you?"
"uh, maybe because we literally fight? all the time? your hot tall friend had to pull you back one time."
"don't call him hot," seungkwan said quickly. "he is, but don't say it."
"dude, most of your friends are hot!" you huffed. "literally all three thousand of them. do you know how awkward it is to share a booth with vernon while we're running the show? he's hot and i think he knows it--"
"stop calling my friends hot!" he huffed, your jacket hugged tight to his chest. "and stop thinking that i hate you when i actually adore you!"
the theater had never sounded so quiet. it truly reminded you that the two of you were alone there, seungkwan's confession kept between the two of you (and whatever ghosts roamed those halls--you were pretty sure the theater was haunted like a lot of them were). his eyes went wide and then he pressed his lips together, looking away from you.
"i like that you don't back down from your point of view until you've actually changed your mind." he was still hugging your jacket close to his chest. "you're a strong person. i used to hate you when we were kids, but now... i think..." he took a deep breath. "i like you a lot."
"you what?"
"i'm not going to say it again," he frowned at you, "so either reject me or..."
"or what, seungkwan?"
"go out with me after the last show. if you don't want to go to the cast party, i mean--seokmin said he invited you because you're still part of the cast and crew, and i know vernon's going, and--"
you refused to look him in the eyes, your heart racing. "okay."
"okay?"
you nodded. "you can take me out on a date."
he grew flustered. "oh. okay, then..." he held out your jacket. "it's too dangerous to walk home alone this late. i'll walk you to your building."
he was lucky he was cute or you'd call him out right then and there for wanting to spend more time with you.

barista boy - kim mingyu
seventeen as romantic tropes - mingyu as love at first sight
barista!mingyu x gn!foreign!reader
well, this was it. after one of the toughest school years of your life, a couple of your friends convinced you to go to korea for the summer, especially since it’s the foreign language you’ve been studying. sure it was expensive and you’ll miss them and be alone the entire time… but a once in a life time trip, right?
you stand in front of the apartment you rented, which would become your home for the next few months. you stepped forward, punching in the code before entering. it’s too late to turn back now, not that you wanted to, anyways.
the place was small, but there was only one of you, so it wasn’t bad. it was cozy, actually. it wasn’t so tight to the point you felt suffocated, but not so big you felt you were stranded. making your way to the only bedroom, it was nicely decorated with a little welcome note written and placed neatly on the edge of the bed.
you felt exhausted, but it was barely 2pm. after thinking awhile, you decided that visiting a nearby cafe and grabbing coffee would be a good idea. it would wake you up and help you to get to know the area. though, you could definitely use a shower and some fresh clothes first.
oh, a 10 minute walk. that’s perfect.
you popped in your earbuds, stepping out and closely following the directions on your phone, taking the chance to also observe your surroundings. it was pretty out here, for being stuck so deep in a city. and, assuming the coffee was good, you’d maybe be walking this route a lot, why not memorize the place a little?
the sun was peaking through the abundance of clouds in the sky, which you found odd as you always associated summer with bright blue skies and warm and sunny days. not that it’s not warm, no, it’s warm, humid, and cloudy. maybe you should get something iced? it’s not like you were planning to get a hot coffee anyway…
oh, this is cute
you stood in front of the decently sized cafe, around 10 different advertisements plastered on the windows. it seemed to be popular, making you have a some faith the coffee would be good.
the bells on the door jingled as you opened the door, the barista rushing in from the back to the counter where you assumed they’d take your order and- whoa
you knew you were destined to run into a pretty boy that you probably can’t have, it happens anywhere, really. but you certainly weren’t expecting it to be so soon, and at a cafe you’d hopefully become a regular at during this summer.
“hi! what can i get for you?” the pretty boy from behind the counter chirped. you finally looked away from his face and blinding smile, looking down at the name tag to see his name was mingyu. you looked back up to the menu behind him.
“would you like a moment to decide?” he asked once more when you didn’t answer.
“yes, please. i uh, i haven’t been here before” you chuckled nervously.
“this cafe, or korea?”
“oh, um, both…” you were a bit embarrassed he could automatically tell you weren’t from around here just based on your pronunciation and accent, even though you yourself is a dead giveaway.
“do you want any recommendations?” he smiled once more, to which you nodded rapidly. you noticed he spoke more slowly, to which you were thankful but also a little embarrassed at the same time.
“well, our most popular drink is just a plain black coffee, but i don’t really like that, and you don’t really seem like the type of person to drink plain black coffee like that…” he trailed a little, thinking about what to say next.
“oh you’re right… i don’t. um, i prefer iced coffee if that helps?” you were a little surprised with the way he read you.
“yes, that does! our most popular iced drink is the iced americano, it’s honestly just a hit or miss. i personally hate it, my co-worker is obsessed with them… it’s a little scary” he chuckled a little and so did you. you quickly checked behind yourself to make sure you weren’t holding up any line.
“there’s no one behind you, don’t worry. if there were a line, i wouldn’t be taking so long” he assured you before turned back around to look at the menu with you.
“i bet you like something a little on the sweeter side, don’t you?” he looked at you over his shoulder with a little grin on his face, making you involuntarily blush.
“uh yeah actually, i do…”
god, he was cute.
“i knew it. i love guessing what kind of coffee people like based off of their appearance. sometimes i’m right, sometimes i’m wrong. another popular one that’s also my favorite, our iced caramel macchiato! that’s one i personally would highly recommend-“
“okay, let’s do it”
“really? you don’t want to hear any other options?” he frowned a little.
“listen… mingyu, i would love to hear you talk all about coffee, but i just got off a 17 hour flight and am trying not to pass out on the floor right now” you leaned against the counter a little to emphasize how tired you were, in hopes he’d save his words for next time and just get you your coffee now.
and if i weren’t so tired, i wouldn’t be able to stop myself from falling in love with you already.
“oh, i’m so sorry. yeah, right. iced caramel macchiato, yeah i can do that. just tap your card, i’ll get on the right now. sorry” the words just kinda kept spilling from his mouth, making it a little difficult for you to understand his speech, but you got through all of it. it hasn’t taken much for you to adore him.
after a couple minutes, he presented you with an iced caramel macchiato, obviously very proud of it.
“here you go. try it!” he urged, placing the straw in and everything before shoving it in your direction even more. honestly? it tasted like any old iced caramel macchiato you’ve had, but you couldn’t let the poor boy who wanted to impress you so bad know that. so, of course, you faked an extreme reaction.
“mmm!! oh, mingyu, this is really good! i can see how it’s your favorite, it would be mine too!” you smiled up at him, who was wearing a blinding smile and excitedly bouncing in place.
“oh, good! i’m so glad you like it!” he cheered. he was a little too excited for your reaction, but it seemed like he couldn’t care less.
“if you come back tomorrow, i can tell you about my second favorite, the banana milk coffee!!”
tomorrow? he already wanted to see you again tomorrow? though, you couldn’t really argue that you also wanted to see him tomorrow.
“i guess a morning coffee tomorrow wouldn’t hurt…” you shrugged, putting the to-go lid on your cup.
“oh, you’re leaving already?” he asked, a frown quickly replacing the beaming smile he had.
“oh yeah… i wanted to explore the area. you know, since this is my first time here and stuff…” you shrugged, hoping you weren’t making the cute barista boy too sad.
“oh yeahhh… well, i mean, if you can wait an hour, i can show you around!” mingyu chimed, frown disappearing quickly.
“wait in here?”
“oh, no! you don’t have to! you can give me the address of the place you’re staying and i’ll come pick you up once my shift is done!” he smiles, pulling out a paper and pen from behind the counter. what on earth did this guy just say..?
“m-my address…?” you questioned nervously, mingyu’s eyes widening at what he just asked.
“i-i’m sorry. i just realized that must not be a normal thing from where you’re from… um…”
“yeah no not really…”
“i’m… sorry. um, if you’re still comfortable, i can write down an address where we can meet maybe?” his voice became shy as his cheeks turn rosy, and you couldn’t help but laugh at him. you had run out of synonyms for cute to describe this guy.
“yeah sure… just tell me where and what time?” you agreed. you watched him physically start to breathe again before he wrote down an address on the paper.
“meet me here at 4:30?” he asked.
“sure… i’ll see you then, mingyu”
“okay…um…”
“um…?”
“you’re supposed to tell me your name!” he whispered loudly at you.
“oh… y/n. my name is y/n” you told. you idiot.
“i’m kim mingyu, i’ll be your friend for as long as you’re staying here!” he declared, making you laugh.
only a friend?
“only during my time here?” you questioned, making him shrug.
“depends on how horrible the time difference is once you get back home so… maybe” he pondered a little, tapping his chin pretending to the real hard.
“well, i’m gonna go home for a bit. i’ll meet you at this place at 4:30, yeah?”
“yeah. see you later y/n!” he shouted and waved to you obnoxiously as you exited the cafe.
you were definitely going to fall in love with him this summer.
and unbeknownst to you, mingyu was sure he was completely in love with you already.

caught in the rain - jeon wonwoo
“hurry up you slow poke!! we’re gonna miss the bus if you keep at that pace” you shouted to wonwoo, who was lagging far behind you. he didn’t speed up, in fact he slowed his jog to a comfortable stroll. rolling your eyes, you ran back to him, taking his hand to drag him along with you.
you could see the bus in the distance, just about to stop.
“come on!!” you shouted as you both ran to the bus stop... only for the bus to leave before you could even make it.
“great... now we’re stuck here in the rain... the next bus comes in an hour! what are we gonna do for an hour? we don’t have proper coats or umbrellas, we’re gonna freeze and get sick-“
wonwoo cut you off by opening his thin zip up jacket, pulling you into his body to keep you warm, wrapping his jacket and arms around you. you sighed, snuggling into his chest.
“i hate you” you muttered.
“sucks, i like you” he replied. you could feel his heartbeat speed up after he said that. was he being serious?
“w-what..?” you asked, looking up at him.
“uh... i-i said i l-like you..” he avoided eye contact. it was obvious he didn’t mean for it to slip out.
“was this your plan? to make us miss the bus so you could confess to me in the pouring rain?” you playfully hit his chest, a smile growing on your face.
“i- uh maybe...?” he smiled sheepishly at you.
“you’re too cute for your own good, jeon wonwoo” you heaved a happy sigh, snuggling back into his chest.
“so uh... what do you say about going on a date?” he asked, nervousness lingering in this tone.
“why go on a date when you could just be my boyfriend now? we already know each other...”
“o-oh... i mean o-okay...”
“so.. is that a yes?” you asked, leaning to look up at him. he looked down at you with a smile, nodding his head. standing on your toes, you cupped his cheeks to pull him down for a kiss. you could feel his teeth clash with yours from the both of you smiling so widely. it seemed as if time had stopped, the rain dripping down your skin and wonwoo’s lips on yours felt unreal. maybe it was a good thing you two missed the bus.

i’ll see you on the other side - jeon wonwoo
royalty au, non idol au
royalty!reader x knight!wonwoo
seventeen as romantic tropes - jeon wonwoo as till death do us part
warnings: mentions of war, blood, injury, stab wounds, character death, implications of suicide
one day, you were able to happily lay in the arms of your favorite knight and not-so-secret lover. the next, he was being shipped off to his death.
the war was bound to happen at any time now. with the immaturity of the neighboring kingdom and the stubbornness of your father, the people were waiting for the call to sacrifice at least one family member to fight. you weren’t prepared to hear the words you did when your father called you to see him.
“y/n, my child, sit down for this” your father pulled out a seat for you, to which you sat, a little confused about the situation.
“father, what’s happening?” you questioned, recognizing the dread and fear in his eyes.
“the other kingdom… has attacked. we must send out soldiers and knights to war”
“okay…”
“and you know our policy. we had one brave person from every household check-in today”
“father, with all due respect, please get to the point!” you groaned impatiently, curious as to what he had to say and why it was taking him so long to do so.
“the person that had stepped up from the jeon residence was wonwoo. we both know he was going to already, yet with your heart in the palm of his hand, i was still surprised he volunteered” your father spoke quietly. you knew, but it hadn’t really dawned upon you until that very moment.
the room was so silent, even the anxious gulp you produced was just a little too loud. you knew wonwoo was going to volunteer, so why are you surprised?
“he’s staying in his usual room in the palace if you’re interested in visiting him, though nobody will be angry or surprised if you’d rather not for now. i have to prepare for the war, so i’ll leave you in peace” your father calmed heads towards the door, saying one more thing before leaving.
“i’m always here for you, my child. with wonwoo leading at the front, we both know he’s not coming back” and with that he shut the door. you loved your father, you truly did, but he was absolutely horrible at being comforting.
the moment the door shut, you were no longer able to hold back the obnoxiously loud sobs bubbling from within you. your feet stomped the floor in anger, wishing you were able to simple stop the war with that singular movement. you hadn’t had a tantrum like this since you were little, but some things never change.
you knocked harshly - more like pounded - on the reenforced wooden door home to the knight’s quarters. though, the man you were looking for did not open the door.
“oh, your majesty? to what do i owe this-“
“get me jeon wonwoo right now.” you couldn’t help but demand, not having enough patience to deal with the exaggerated respect towards you. the door opens once more, to which wonwoo steps out, shutting the door behind him.
“y/n-“
he couldn’t even finish his sentence before you punched him in the chest as hard as you could, which ultimately, wasn’t that hard as he barely flinched.
“you’re such an ass, wonwoo. did you know that? leaving me behind?” you spat at him. you knew you were acting selfish through temporary emotions, soon regretting your actions. but in the moment? you could not care less.
“y/n-“
“you didn’t have to go, you know? didn’t have to volunteer? me, you could’ve talked to me, for gods sake! you know i could’ve worked something out! my father adores you, you know he would’ve spared your family!“ you cried, hitting his chest and shoulders once more. he only stared at you blankly before moving you to lay onto his chest, hands comfortingly rubbing up and down your torso.
“i- i fucking h-hate you so m-much, jeon wonwoo” you lied through sobs. you only hated him and his decision because you loved him too much. your father was absolutely right, he has your heart in the palm of his hand, and at any moment, can close his palm and completely crush and shatter you. but he won’t, never intentionally.
wonwoo was the most selfless person you’ve ever met. he was kind, caring gentle, so good at separating work and you, despite quite literally working for you, as your father assigned him to be your personal bodyguard.
“i know, my love. i know” he responded a few seconds later, knowing you didn’t really mean it. you were so upset, and he didn’t blame you. he knew he could ask you for an arrangement, and spare for his family with the way he was affiliated with you. he knew he didn’t have to volunteer, he didn’t have to fight in the war. but he wanted to. he wanted to serve the kingdom until his last breath, to which he would profess his love for you to whoever was there and was listening to him die.
“why…?”
“why what, sweetheart?“
“why are you like this? why are you always so caring and selfless? why do you still want to fight? why do you want to die?” your questions stung him a little more than he thought they would.
“if i die out there, i will be dying for this kingdom. i will be dying for you. i will spend the last moments of my life fighting to win this war so you can live in peace for the rest of your life. i will be fighting and dying for you, my love. that’s why”
wonwoo’s reasons were always too good to argue with, it seemed as if he had a whole little book of perfect reasons and responses in his head.
“i love you, y/n. always remember that”
you knew wonwoo wasn’t going to leave right away, but you also didn’t expect it to be this soon. with the warning bell of the enemy’s army approaching quickly, you rushed throughout the castle to find wonwoo, to be with him one last time.
finally, you found him completely geared up, standing in the very front to lead the rest of the soldiers towards essentially their death.
“wonwoo!” the scream of his name nearly ripped you in half, the entire army looking towards you as it took everything in wonwoo to not break rank.
you flung yourself onto him and he didn’t move, he couldn’t. he couldn’t think of you now. not that he didn’t want to, you were always his favorite topic to think and talk about, but because he knew if he looked you in the eye one more time, he’d drop everything to be with you.
“y/n, please…” wonwoo begged quietly, not wanting to crack.
“wonwoo, wonwoo please! please look at me…” you grabbed his cheeks and turned his head towards yours, to which his eyes finally met yours. he held back the tears in his eyes so hard his throat began to tingle and ache.
“please promise you’ll come back to me… please” you whispered. he shook his head.
“wonwoo…?”
“i can’t promise anything, my love. i cant.” he gulped down the sobs threatening to spill.
“wonu… please don’t leave me…”
“i won’t, won’t ever leave you, permanently. only death will seperate us” he gives in a bit, placing a small kiss upon your forehead.
“don’t speak of it-“
the emergency alarm rang throughout the castle, causing wonwoo to snap back into place.
“you need to leave, right now. run away and hide, go wherever the remaining guards take you, go” he gently pushed you towards the guards coming to collect you.
“wonwoo-“
“i’ll be back for you, i promise”
and with that, he’s gone from your sight.
it’d been 3 days since you’ve last seen wonwoo. you as well as your mother have been taken into hiding, in fear the palace itself would be raided. you worried for your father and wonwoo every waking moment you had, driving everybody else in the cabin insane.
“y/n, could you just calm down for a moment?” your mother asked, stressing out just watching you.
“i can’t. i can’t. what about wonwoo? what about dad? aren’t you worried for him too?” you snapped back, and your mother could only sigh at another useless attempt of trying to get you to maybe calm down and think about something else. three days since you’ve last seen wonwoo. no words on how he was doing, what he was doing, if he was even alive to do something.
as the day went on, you wondering if you could escape the cabin, go out to find your father, to find wonwoo? you began to form a plan, and waited for everyone else to fall asleep.
‘i went for a walk’ is what you wrote on the piece of paper you left on the table, though you were planning to take much more of a walk. grabbing your coast and shoes, you quietly exited the cabin, running as fast as you could back towards the castle. the smell of smoke fills your nose, something obviously on fire, though you couldn’t see any smoke, so it was difficult to determine where it was coming from.
you sneak into the castle, the same way you always did when wonwoo kept you out past your bedtime, immediately navigating your way towards the infirmary. you see the injuried knights and nurses glancing at you, shocked to see you since it was know that you and your mother had been taken into hiding.
“excuse me?” you quietly spoke to a nurse that looked like she wasn’t too busy.
“oh, your highness, what are you doing here?” she bowed upon acknowledging your presence.
“do you know anything about wonwoo, jeon wonwoo? whether he’s been here or not?” you asked, and she thought for a moment before coming up with an answer.
“oh, yes! he was in here just a couple hours ago for i think it was three? stab wounds. he was transferred to his room due to being a resident here”
“three? three stab wounds? is he okay?”
“i’m not sure. he was unconscious when we took him in as well as when he was transferred to his room. i can check for you if you’d like-“
“no no it’s fine. i’ll go” you immediately turned to find wonwoo’s room once more, ignoring the calls of the nurse behind you.
your quickly paced footsteps echoed throughout the now empty halls, the castle being vacant due to the newfound war. you swore you’ve never run up these steps so quickly, so anxious and eager to see wonwoo, your wonwoo.
you knocked on the door twice, hearing a small groan, one of the weak, a groan from death himself.
you didn’t hesitate to open the door, finding wonwoo resting on his bed, the bed you’ve slept in with him many many times.
“wonwoo…” you muttered rushing to his side.
“wonu… my poor wonu, please be awake” you whispered, brushing the hair out of his eyes, hands cupping his cheeks.
“baby please wake up” you pressed a kiss to his nose, and then a short one to his lips.
“y/n?” his voice was faint, so faint that even if. pin dropped you might’ve missed it.
“wonu, yes it’s me. it’s y/n”
“you… you’re supposed to be in hiding” he turned his head to look at you, only to be met with sharp pains shooting throughout his body as he regained his consciousness.
“i needed to find you. something told me i needed to leave and come find you. i’m glad i did” you pressed another kiss to his cheek, to which he sighed.
“you need to go back” he whispered, his arm slowly raising to push you away.
“no… no wonwoo no, i can’t. i can’t leave you here like this. like you said, until death do us part. i won’t leave” you took his hand, intertwining your fingers with his.
“i say the most stupidest things, don’t i?” he chuckled a little, before letting out a groan of pain, stab wounds not liking that.
“no, no wonwoo, everything you say is smart, is perfect, is right. well, except for telling me to go back”
“you’re just going to leave this palace heartbroken, y/n. they’re not taking care of me. even i can feel it, i don’t have much time left. it could be seconds, minutes, or hours until i’m dead. you want to be here to watch me die?” he rolled his eyes at you, and you couldn’t help but giggle a little at his stubbornness.
“and now you’re laughing?”
“i want to be the last person you see before you die. i want to spend your last moments with you. i wanted you to know how much i love you, even when i’m sending you off to whoever takes care of you after death. wonu, please don’t push me away” your hands grabbed his, holding them gently.
“i love you…” you whispered, leaning your forehead on your clasped hands.
“i love you too, y/n…”
“please stay, hold on. i can convince them to get you help, i can-“
“m…maybe… maybe in another life… we-we’ll find each other. in another l-life… we can live hhappily ever after… grow old and love each other for life…” he spoke to cut you off, his voice growing weaker and weaker as you listened to him struggle to breathe.
“wonu…”
“in another life, should we meet, i promise to stay. but for now? i have to say goodbye”
“w-wonwoo no… please…” you eyes watered up as you held his face in your hands, holding him close to you.
“i’ll see you on the other side, my love…”
he gasped once more before it went silent. his pulse weakened until it was no longer there. there was nothing you could do except cry onto his shoulder as his skin turned cold. he was gone. his the remaining bits of life that lingered in his body was pulled straight out of your arms.
“i’ll see you soon, my love” you whispered, unsheathing the knife laying on the bed rise table.

only you - xu minghao
seventeen as romantic tropes - minghao as cold to everybody but you
non idol au, college au, minghao x gn!reader
nobody really approached minghao. every time someone came near him, it would only be to talk to the two social butterflies he has as best friends, seokmin and mingyu. the people who pass by wonder how the two managed to adopt minghao into their trio, and when asked, they also have no idea.
when it was just the three of them, minghao let himself go a little bit, enjoying the company of seokmin and mingyu. but every time they attempted to introduce minghao to another person, he goes cold and ignores the other, as if they had an illness he wouldn’t want to catch. well, until you came along.
you were an old friend of mingyu’s, having met during a sporting event in 7th grade. despite going to different schools, you befriended each other and hung out often, sometimes meeting seokmin. you were curious about minghao, asking why you weren’t able to meet the other member of their trio. all they ever said was later, and how now isn’t the right time. but, you finally convinced mingyu to let you meet this mysterious minghao, making you a little nervous.
mingyu sent the address of the cafe 20 minutes ago and you still haven’t left yet, your cat deciding to be high maintenance.
“ginger, i’ll be gone for like, 2 hours, you will survive. i promise” you spoke as she let out a protesting meow.
“oh hush. i’ll be back” you scratched her head once more before leaving your dorm to your car, finally texting mingyu that you’re on your way.
“when are they going to be here?” seokmin complained, becoming a little bored since everybody was saving conversation for when you arrived.
“they just left, ginger was causing problems again” mingyu chuckled a little at the messages of frustration you sent towards his way. minghao kept quiet, sipping his iced latte and staring out the window.
“who’s ginger? are they dating someone? is that their roommate?” seokmin asked, eyes widening in fear he had missed something.
“ginger is their cat…”
“oh. so i mean i was sorta right. cat, roommate, same thing!” he leaned back, acting cool while the corner of minghao’s lips upturned a little at his friend’s antics.
a couple more minutes passed before mingyu spotted you walking through the door, calling your name and waving you down. just as minghao was taking a sip of his drink, he looked up at you, then choked. seokmin, who was the one sitting next to him, immediately sat up into panic mode and started patting minghao’s back, asking if he was okay.
“mmm, mhm, yeah, i’m fine.”
that was so embarrassing.
“here, y/n. we saved you a seat!” mingyu dragged you over to sit you across from minghao.
“oh wow, i was so worried you guys were going to make me sit at the other side of the cafe!” you joked, to which mingyu told you not to test him.
“anyways y/n, you already know seokmin, but this is minghao! he’s the same age as us and is majoring in fine arts!” mingyu introduced you, and minghao nodded a little, as to acknowledge your presence. you waved back, a little nervous that he already might not like you.
“he’s really shy and quiet and might take awhile to warm up to you, he might not at all and if he doesn’t, don’t take it personally. this is the closest another person besides me and seok and gotten to him” mingyu whispered to you, you nodded along to his words.
“okay, i’m going to go order myself an iced latte, so-“
“i can go for you” everybody looked towards minghao, his first time speaking since you’ve arrived.
“oh, you don’t have to!”
“it’s fine, i’m going to get myself another one anyways” he gets up with a little sigh.
“you can use my card, then!” you went to fish your wallet out from your bag, but he was already walking away.
“i don’t know about you, but i personally have never seen minghao doing anything remotely that nice. not even to us” seokmin whispered shouted to you and mingyu, who were also shocked by minghao’s behavior.
“yeah, me neither. y/n, what did you do to him?!” mingyu, pushed you a little, and you shrugged.
“i don’t know! i just met him! i don’t know why he insisted on ordering and buying coffee for me!“ you whisper shouted back.
“he probably just wanted to be nice. i’ll pay him back anyways” you crossed your arms before leaning back in your seat.
“no, y/n, you don’t understand. minghao isn’t just nice, especially not to people he just met, he’s not even that nice to us. honestly, i don’t know how he tolerates us” it was mingyu’s turn to whisper shout.
“do you think he has a thing for y/n already?”
“they just met!”
“yeah but i was sitting right next to him when he saw y/n and then choked on his drink. that’s gotta mean something” seokmin reasoned, making mingyu sit back and think for a little bit. just a minute later, as mingyu was about to speak again, minghao came back with two drinks, sliding one over to you.
“oh, thank you! how much was it? i’ll pay you back!” you spoke to him, and he just shrugged.
“you don’t have to” he plopped back down into his seat, looking out the window to the flowers that lined the windowsill.
“but i want to!”
“i said no” he spoke firmly, making you sink back into your chair, nodding and taking a sip of your drink. seokmin managed to bring up a different conversation topic before letting the awkward silence saturate the air too much. to seokmin and mingyu’s surprise, minghao actually spoke and participated, speaking to you as well. he actually mainly spoke to you, ignoring the other two people sitting at your table.
just as he was speaking, your phone buzzed, your alarm to return home going off.
“oh, it’s been two hours already? i have to go now, i promised ginger i’ll only be gone two hours” you began to pick up your things, finishing off your drink.
“are you serious?” mingyu whined.
“uhh yeah. for a cat, ginger has an impressive internal clock” you stood from your chair. just as you were about to walk away, someone made a loud coughing sound, and you turned to see minghao holding his phone out to you. you tilted your head at him to question what he was doing.
“your number” he held his phone out further, to which you accepted and typed in your number.
“well, i’ll see you guys around!” you waved to them, leaving the cafe to go home to your disastrous cat.
you see the trio plus a few others a couple days later when walking from one lecture to another, minghao being the first one to wave at you, and then mingyu waving you over to hang out with them for a little bit. you watched as the other people whom you didn’t know watch in confusion as minghao acknowledges your presence from 10 feet away.
“hi y/n!” seokmin embraces you, a little too excited to see you.
“guys, this is y/n, we’ve been friends since 7th grade. y/n, these are some of our other friends; jeonghan, joshua, seungkwan, and chan” they all wave at you, except for the one called jeonghan, who decides he wants a little bit of trouble.
“why do your pants look like that?” he questioned, a playful smirk on his face. you see the guy called joshua yell his name and smack him upside the head. you weren’t necessarily offended by it, you didn’t like these pants either, and also just assumed it was probably just jeonghan’s personality.
“why are you being a dick?” minghao shoots back, and the rest of you look at him.
“i was just joking…” jeonghan trails off. he’s never really heard minghao speak except for some simple ‘heys’ and ‘hi’s being exchanged when faced with each other.
“it wasn’t that funny of a joke. their pants look fine. stop picking on them” minghao’s voice clearly stated how unamused he was at jeonghan’s comment towards you, sending him a little death glare.
“it’s fine minghao, really. i wasn’t offended by it. i also don’t like these pants but they were the only ones i had clean so!” you assured him that it was fine in hopes he would calm down a bit. it was now silent and more than a little awkward as the what - 8? of you stood around in a little quiet circle, both jeonghan and minghao embarrassed for themselves while the others relish in the second-hand embarrassment.
“i’m going to go to my next class, it was nice meeting you 4. bye!” you quickly waved yourself off, making your way to your other lecture.
minghao: we’re going to dinner at 6:30
y/n: oh? who’s we? you seok and gyu?
minghao: and you
y/n: i am??
minghao: yeah that’s why i told you
y/n: i don’t remember agreeing to this
minghao: i’ll pick you up from your dorm in 15 with seokmin and mingyu
what an interesting way to invite someone to hang out. the more you talk to minghao, the more you realize he has trouble asking for things, he’ll just kind of state what he wants and doesn’t take no for an answer unless it’s a good enough reason. though, you wouldn’t mind going out and doing things with or for a pretty boy like minghao, so you couldn’t really complain.
even though seokmin and mingyu wouldn’t shut up about how abnormal his behavior is to you, you’ve still managed to convince yourself that minghao would never like you the way you want to like him. you’re doing just about everything in your power to hold back any romantic feelings that might form for him, simply because rejection always has the bigger chance of happening.
either way, you pulled yourself up off your bed and went to go put on some decent clothing before waiting near the front door with ginger.
meeeooowwww
“okay fine, i’ll give you a little snack before i leave since dinner is going to be late tonight” you get up to feed her, but at the same time someone knocks on your door. you rolled your eyes before going to answer, minghao standing there with a small smile on his face.
“hey y/n. ready?” he asked.
“almost, gotta give ginger a snack before i leave. you can wait in here if you’d like” you offered, moving aside to let him in. the moment he laid his eyes on ginger, he’s never smiled so widely.
“hi baby” he coos at the orange tabby cat, getting down on his knees to pet her. you couldn’t help but giggle a little seeing minghao meet your cat for the first time. you quickly snapped a picture before going to fill her kibble bowl up half way.
by the time you went back, minghao was sitting cross legged on the floor with ginger laying in his lap, purring like it was the end of the world.
*snap*
“did you just take a picture of us?” he looked up and rose an eyebrow at you.
“she looked cute there, i had to” you smiled, going to collect your cat and send her off to her food bowl.
“just her? not me?” he faked pouted. you’ve never seen minghao act this way… like ever.
“i dunno, wasn’t really paying attention to you” you poked his arm, to which he rolled his eyes.
“either way, lets go. seok and gyu are probably getting grumpy from waiting” you dragged him out of your dorm by the arm, shutting the door and making your way down.
“what took the two of you so long?” mingyu yelled once you opened the car door.
“someone met ginger today”
“minghao met ginger before me?!” seokmin whined, looking back at you from the passenger seat.
“it could’ve been you if you’d gotten me” you shrugged, buckling your seatbelt.
“i got pictures of them too, if you wanna see” you leaned forward, phone in hand, minghao groaning in embarrassment while you showed photos of him and ginger to the two boys in the front seat.
“awww” seokmin cooed at the photos, zooming in on details.
“whoa… i have never seen hao smile like that before. what did you do to him? what did your cat do to him? did you poison him?” mingyu gasped.
“it’s her specialty. she knows how to automatically make people happy” you lean back, nudging minghao who’s embarrassed from his friends seeing him in that state.
“hao?” mingyu called, turning around to see his flustered state.
“shut up and drive” he grumbled, turning towards the car window. all mingyu did was giggle a little before putting the car into drive and take off down the road.
“should we go on a walk?” mingyu asked after paying the bill.
“a walk? you still do post-dinner walks?” you teased him a little. it was something the two of you would do after getting dinner after some sports game.
“uhh yeah? you DON’T?” he gasped, placing his hand on his chest.
“no?? i only took them cause you went on them!” you replied, mingyu following up with mumbles of “traitor” and “fake” while seokmin and minghao watched, thoroughly amused.
“i say yes to the walk!” seokmin chimes in, mingyu thanking him for being on his side.
“i don’t know, i’m with y/n. not really feeling up for a walk right now…” minghao looked off to the side, wanting to go home.
“fine! me and seok will go on a walk while you two can stay in the car!” mingyu grabs his keys and drags seokmin by the arm out of the restaurant.
“what a loser…” you mumbled under your breath, minghao chuckling at your words. the two of you get up to follow mingyu to his car, where he then trapped you for the next 20 minutes.
“so… i assume you and mingyu went to dinner a lot in middle and high school?” minghao asks, breaking the silence as the two of you sat in the backseat of mingyu’s car.
“yeah. we would go to sports games together and then get dinner after. mingyu always liked going on walks after to help him get some fresh air and ‘help him digest’ or something like that” you chuckled a little at the memory.
“has it ever been… like… romantic?” minghao hesitated on the question, mentally kicking himself the moment the words left his lips. this is why he stays quiet.
“romantic?”
“i mean like, has it ever been a date?”
“are you asking if we ever dated? if so, not at all. people would mistake us for a couple a lot though. sometimes we faked young love for like a free dessert or something, but we’ve never dated. i’ve never liked him like that. he’s just my best friend”
“oh cool. so you’re like… not seeing anyone right now?” he pushed himself once more, wanting to turn to a mirror and scream at himself for continuing to talk.
“nope. are you?” you returned the question, turning your body towards his nervous figure.
“no”
“cool”
it was then silent again for a couple minutes, both of you lost in your own thoughts. he was definitely hinting at something here, were you reading his signals right? were you overthinking it? you heard minghao gasp as he opened his mouth to say something. you turned to him, but nothing came out. he also turned to you, cheeks a little pinking and the tips of his ears burning a bright red.
“d-do… do you… uh… um…”
“do i…?”
“do you like um oh i don’t know maybe like uh-“
“minghao, do you want to go on a date with me?” you asked. he looked at you, wide eyed and jaw dropped. he couldn’t believe you beat him to that. yes he could, he just couldn’t believe you liked him like that.
“well? don’t leave me hanging, hao” you smiled a little as he glitched, moving some hair from his eyes. his heart fluttered and was now dancing in his chest, leaving adrenaline to rush through his veins.
“yes… god yes i would love to. i can’t believe you beat me to this, i could kiss you-“ he stopped right after that, hoping you were barely listening to him.
“so then kiss me?” you leaned forward a little to encourage him.
“i dunno… i’m not really a kiss-before-the-first-date type of person” he playfully tapped his finger against his lips. you smiled at him.
“neither am i, i guess theres firsts for everything, right?” you tilted your head at him a little.
“one kiss definitely wouldn’t hurt…” he grinned before leaning in to kiss you. one kiss turned into two, two turned into three, and three turned into-
“REALLY?! ARE YOU TWO ACTUALLY BEING SERIOUS RIGHT NOW???” mingyu screamed once he opened the drivers door, peaking in at the two of you making out in the back of his car.
“i’m so sick, seokmin you’re driving” mingyu hobbled over to the passenger seat, clutching his stomach.
“so dramatic, isn’t he?” seokmin grinned at the two of you in the backseat, ignoring how you two looked like deers in headlights, just a little pinker than they would be.
“drive, seokmin, drive! i can’t stand to be around them!” mingyu cried out, slumping over himself.
“keep being dramatic and i’ll kiss you next” you threatened, getting him to act right.
“please go faster” mingyu whisper-shouted to seokmin, leading to minghao reaching over to slap his forehead.
“you’re so bitchless”

happy guy - lee seokmin
seventeen as romantic tropes - lee seokmin as opposites attract
non idol au, high school au, seokmin x gn!reader
keep your eyes away from others, keep tour feet moving, no one will bother you if you keep quiet. be confident, look where you’re going-
and now you’re on the floor.
“oh my goodness i’m so sorry!” panicked a voice from above you. you just shook your head, as a don’t worry about it kind of thing, gathering your things to stand back up again.
“let me help you, please” the person who you ran into spoke again, kneeling down to pick up the scattered papers and other things that fell out of your bag.
“no, it’s okay, really. don’t worry about it” you mumbled, hoping he would just leave you alone.
“well, i mean, you know me, i have to help you so…”
who does this guy think he is? a celebrity? how on earth would you know him? especially since it’s your first day here?
“i know you…?” you questioned, finally looking up at him. if your face wasn’t already flushed from embarrassment, it definitely was now. he tilted his head at you a little, as to question you back.
“you’re new here, aren’t you?” he grinned widely. unsure, you slowly nodded your head a yes, still pretty confused.
“i’m the student counsel president, lee seokmin. are you are?” he asked, holding out his hand.
“y/n…” you hesitantly took his hand in yours, shaking it loosely.
“i can give you a tour around here, if you’re not already scheduled for one from our new student greeters!” he cheered, picking up the rest of your things to hand to you.
“no… i dont have one scheduled but it’s fine. i don’t need a tour, i can survive” you shoved your things back into your bag, hoping to get away from seokmin before you blurt something out about his pretty face.
“are you sure? i can give you one after lunch!”
“you don’t know if we even have the same lunch…”
“keep this a secret but, i’m student counsel president, i can go to both lunches” he whispered and winked, making something in your chest feel floaty.
“thats nice of you but i’m going to go find my first class so bye” you muttered with a quick wave before walking off to find the first class on your schedule, you don’t even remember it.
“i’ll check in with you at the end of the day!” you could hear him shout from behind you, making you determined to walk a little faster out of his sight.
“hi again, y/n!” his voice made you jump.
“god, you scared me” you groaned, not even turning to face him.
“sorry, i didn’t mean to… but how was your first day?” he stood by your side as you waited for your mother to pick you up.
“it was okay… it’s school so theres not much to enjoy” you shrugged.
“not much to enjoy? what classes are you taking? school can be fun! you should join a club or sports or-“
“no”
“but why not? it’ll be fun-“
“no”
“but-“
“i said no” you glared at the cheerful little guy just trying to help you out. he had shut up, head drooping a little bit.
“so… you really don’t like school, huh?” he asked once more, a little less passion and sweetness in his voice. you shook your head.
“no. school is a mean place with mean people. just cause you’re nice now doesn’t mean you won’t go behind my back and say nasty things about me” you crossed your arms, head leaning back against the brick wall.
“but it also doesn’t mean i will, either. theres some good in the world and at this school, y/n. have a little faith. i’ll see you tomorrow” he spoke, turning and walking away.
lee seokmin was quite the character, huh?
you were already two days out from a test and you had to learn all the material of the unit that you missed in that short amount of him. thats how you ended up at the library with 6 different advanced chemistry books laid out in front of you.
“someone’s gotten to work, haven’t they?” you heard a voice thats getting too familiar to you sneak up.
“wouldn’t you like to know…” you muttered, slightly hoping he couldn’t hear you. either way, he didn’t respond and just sat in the chair next to you.
“what are you doing?” you asked, confused as to why he had sat down next to you.
“studying? i have that advanced chem test in two days too” he pulled out his notebook and pencil case, everything looking exactly the way you’d expected it to.
“you gonna keep staring or go back to reading?” he teased with a small grin on his lips, not even looking up at you.
“i wasn’t staring”
“you totally were. it’s okay to admit it, babe”
“it’s my second day here, what is your problem?” you groaned, turning back to all the textbooks in front of you.
“i’m sorry”
“i’m sure you are…” you muttered quietly, putting headphones in and pressing play on your music. what’s this guy’s deal? how is he always so cheerful at such a place? your only job to attend, pass, and dip as soon as possible but mr class president over here willing stays after school and does… whatever a class president does.
“leaving so soon?” he perked up once he saw you shut the first book.
“yeah. i want to go home and take a god damn nap” you grumbled, getting up to return the books to their places.
“let me help you with that” he quickly got up, taking half your stack. you glared at him before speaking,
“you’re annoying. did you know that?” you began to walk off, seokmin following not far behind.
“maybe you’re just grumpy. maybe it’s a good thing you’re going home to take a nap, you know? we could all use a little extra sleep-“
“that was supposed to make you shut up” you groaned, cutting off whatever he wad saying.
“do you not like it when i talk?” he asks, a little bit of hurt in his voice.
“not really. i get that i’m like new and all, but you don’t need to hover around me and shit, just leave me alone” you take the books from seokmin, putting them away. you pushed past where he stood, only a little sad that you hated him already.
“so, how long has this person been at our school?” mingyu asked, holding back his words to make fun of seokmin.
“one week now… almost two”
“poor seokkie!” jeonghan pouts with fake sympathy.
“seok, you gotta stop falling for people so fast. like, not even two weeks? no wonder they’re a little freaked out by you…” joshua chimes in, causing seokmin to groan and slam his head onto the table.
“honestly, their personality reminds me a lot of minghao’s so far. just treat them the way you treat minghao” junhui shrugged, messing with the straw in his drink.
“thats different! i’ve known minghao for awhile so i don’t have to act like i’m stepping on glass around him anymore!”
“anymore?? what do you mean anymore?!”
“hush hao” junhui patted him on the back to calm him down a little. seokmin sadly groans once more at the thought of you and the words you said to him just a couple of days ago.
“poor little guy… maybe they’ll come around one day, you just gotta give them a little bit of space and time since they obviously didn’t feel the same click you did” mingyu pulled seokmin into a hug while the other boys agreed with mingyu’s words.
“what’s wrong with that guy?” seungkwan asked, joining the table with his lunch and a drink.
“seokmin’s got a crush on the new student, and he’s been freaking them out” jeonghan explained, and seungkwan burst out laughing before regaining his respectful composure.
“it’s y/n, right? i have them in my chem class after this. they sit behind me now so i could uh… talk to them for you about something… depends on what the something is though”
“they don’t like talking” seokmin snapped.
“maybe they don’t like talking to you, ever thought about that?” seungkwan snapped back.
“you are a horrible person, seungkwan” mingyu defends.
“i try” he shoots mingyu a sarcastic smile before taking a sip of his drink.
“but really, i can try and figure out some of their interests for you so you can do that thing where you pretend to like it so they fall in love with you or something…”
“you’re sick… do it”
“sure”
“hey, you’re y/n, new student right?” the guy in front of you turns around in his desk, now facing towards you.
“where’d you hear that from?”
“does lee seokmin ring a bell?” he smirked a little, watching you roll your eyes at the name.
“i’m sad it does. did he tell you? did he just go around telling everyone?”
“nope, i’m seungkwan, who is friends with him. he only really told our friend group which isn’t much so…” seungkwan trailed off, waiting for your response.
“that guy’s got friends?” you leaned back in your chair, skeptically raising your eyebrow at this boy who was seokmin’s friend.
“yeah? don’t like him?” seungkwan couldn’t help but get a little defensive of the way you talked about seokmin. how did seokmin fall for you again?
“not that, he’s just prettier when he shuts up and isn’t spewing school relating things into my ear” you picked up your pencil, twirling it between your fingers.
“really? what else would you rather hear him talk about, then? i mean, school’s really his life but he’s got other hobbies… i think”
“maybe something, i don’t know, normal? every time i hear him, he’s always on about something school related, and not even something fun! it’s always about something like with the classrooms or the lockers or the hallway, maybe with the offices or something, it’s just, i don’t know! he just…”
“just what?”
“i don’t know, he seems so fake…”
“fake?!” seungkwan nearly shouted.
“yeah, you don’t see that? i’ve never seen that boy frown or experience any negative emotion once. okay, maybe once, but he always finds a way to like fix things or tries to make everybody happy, he himself is so happy it makes me mad. maybe i would like him better if i saw him outside of a school setting or something…” you crossed your arms now, looking back for seungkwan’s reaction, as he’d just been sitting there and listening to you ramble on about seokmin for the entire time.
“yeah… i guess i can see that. i’ll talk to him for you”
“oh, oh no. don’t do that. please don’t” you leaned forward as he reached for his phone, fingers moving swiftly across the keyboard to type out a message to seokmin.
“don’t worry, he won’t be mad. i’ll tell you a secret soon” he winked before putting his phone away and turning to face the front of the classroom, where the teacher was about to get started.
“y/n!”
“oh, you…” you turned to the happy boy who quickly approached you. despite just two words panging him in the heart a little, he kept it together to ask you the question he’s been wanting to since seungkwan texted him.
“i have a question for you, actually” he leaned on the wall next to you.
“i’m sure you do. what is it?” you sighed, waiting for him to passionately talk about what he can do to fix the school bathroom’s cleanliness.
“do you want to get coffee with me tomorrow morning?”
“what?” your head snapped his direction, not expecting that kind of question from him.
“tomorrow’s saturday, and i know a good little coffee shop. i feel like it would he good for us to hang out outside of school” he smiled sheepishly, anxiously waiting for your response. you definitely should’ve been expecting this, shame on you for not.
“oh, i mean… what time? i have plans tomorrow afternoon but i could probably do coffee in the morning…”
“does 9:30 work?”
“sure”
“cool… um… do you think you could give me your phone number and address? so i can pick you up tomorrow?” he brings his phone in your direction, hands shaking a little bit. you say nothing but type in the wanted information, handing it back to him.
“okay, great! i’ll see you tomorrow!!” he cheers loudly, waving like crazy before skipping off. you couldn’t hear or see him, but you were definitely sure he was dancing down the hallway. todays interactions made you think a little… is there a chance he might like you? and could you finally allow yourself to start liking him back?

love me in secret - lee jihoon
seventeen as romantic tropes - jihoon as your secret lover
idol au, woozi x fem!idol!reader
you were only acquainted with him through your best friend who entered the industry a little while before you did. he would often bring you over to record a cover duet for both of your fandoms to enjoy, so it’s not like you could avoid him. you couldn’t even look the poor man in the eyes whenever he talked to you. you would nervously stutter upon your words, and it was an absolute shitshow when you had to sing in front of him. your best friend also managed to catch on, as well.
lee seokmin wasn’t an idiot. he might be a little oblivious sometimes, but he’s not dumb. he’s known you long enough to know when you’re interested in someone, and now that certain someone just happened to but his group mate. jihoon… he was a special guy. a little more oblivious than seokmin when it came to things like this. or at least that’s what seokmin thought.
seokmin never told you he knew you liked jihoon, but he definitely let you know that he knew. his sneaky comments about the way you act around him and jihoon’s abnormalities whenever you were around, trying to build your confidence. fast forward to now, though. he was doing a little too much…
“hold on you two, i’ll be right back. this is really important, i have to take it” seokmin promptly leaves jihoon’s studio while taking the ‘really important’ call, ignoring jihoon’s complaints about leaving in the middle of a recording.
“that guy… he really has so nerve sometimes, doesn’t he?” jihoon signed and leaned back in his chair.
“i- uh yeah he definitely does mhm what a guy am i right…” you smiled awkwardly at him, a little too obvious about how nervous you are. he smiled back before laughing a little,
“i’m not as dumb as he makes me out to be, by the way. i know everything” he turned to his computer, adding little touch ups to your recorded track.
“oh, um… what do you mean?” you chuckled nervously, hoping he wasn’t referencing to your behavior around him.
“you know what i mean, babe” he didn’t look away from his computer, yet still watched out of the corner of his eye as you blushed and struggled to comprehend his words.
“i…i’m sorry?” you asked once more. did he just call you babe?
“have i got it wrong? don’t you like me?” he asked, finally turning to you once more. his smile grew a little as you looked like a dear in headlights.
“well, no- i mean yes- wait i mean no- wait-“ you struggled with your words, and jihoon couldn’t help but laugh at how cute he thought you were.
“do you like me?” he asked once again, waiting for your response. you gulped.
“well… yes… but-“
“then let’s go on a date” he offered, and you paused. although you and seokmin had entered the industry around the same time, it took you a couple more years to debut, leaving you currently in a 2, almost 3, year old group. because of your company’s dating ban, you weren’t exactly allowed to say yes… but could that stop you?
“o-oh. um, i’m not sure, honestly…”
“how come?” jihoon was only a little nervous now, fearing rejection from you.
“well, i mean, i do like you and all, but like, i have a dating ban, and-“
“they don’t have to know. our companies already think we’re just friends, right? we can go out and hang out as just friends for the rest of the world, only we need to know we’re dating. nobody else. not even seokmin” he smiled a little, hoping you’ll accept his answer.
“well… okay then. but if we ever get caught, this is completely on you” you pointed at him and he raised his hands in defense with a small chuckle,
“whatever makes you feel better”
it had been around two weeks since you last saw jihoon in person, so you were a little nervous. because of your conflicting schedules, it took the two of you awhile to find a time to go out that worked for everyone.
you managed to convince your manager that it was just a friendly little dinner, the same things you do with seokmin… just with jihoon this time. your manager was a little suspicious, but eventually dropped it and let you go.
“let me know if he stands you up or something… i’ll be 5 minutes away” your manager sends you out of the car with a little smile before driving off. you stand in front of the restaurant, observing it for a bit before texting jihoon that you’ve arrived.
jihoon: oh, come in. i’m already at a table
oh god, you’ve kept him waiting this whole time? you tried to keep your nervousness and panic contained, shakily reaching for the door and scanned the inside to find jihoon. you quickly found him, making your way over as he watched you.
“hey” he said with a small smile on his face.
“hi” you gave him a little friendly nod, which you now were internally scolding yourself for.
“don’t be nervous, y/n. it’s just me” he spoke gently, trying to get your attention and out of your head.
“it’s just you, that’s why i’m nervous” you replied sheepishly, embarrassed at how much of a mess you were.
“oh? do i make you that nervous?” he leaned his chin on his palm, acting nonchalant but you could tell he was trying to hide his amusement.
“after all this time and you still haven’t caught on, huh?”
“don’t know. couldn’t tell if it was me or going on a date as an idol or-“
“shut up! it’s not a date, it’s just a nice little friendly dinner. the same ones i go on with seokmin” you reminded him, beyond terrified of getting caught.
“oh, is it now?”
“you know what i mean, jihoon” he was beginning to stress you out a little. he chuckled a little before looking off to think about only god knows what. was that it? did you just ruin your chance with woozi? lee jihoon?
“let’s order to go and head somewhere more private, this public restaurant doesn’t seem to be working out for us” he picked up the menu to quickly decide what he wanted, you doing the same. still, how were you going to let your manager know this?
“hold on, i need to text my manager we’re going to be leaving soon…” you mumbled, only hoping that jihoon would be able to hear it.
y/n: there’s some people in here bothering us
y/n: we’re going to order to go and go somewhere else where people will just let us be
you put your phone back into your pocket, too scared to look at the response.
he hasn’t exactly told you where he’s taking you yet, just that he knows a place. of course you trusted him, you were also just scared of people seeing you two together and thinking something wrong. well, thinking something right technically, you just didn’t want anyone seeing or thinking about the two of you at all, really.
the more you walked, the more you began to recognize the building he was taking you into.
“isn’t this your dorm building?” you asked.
“yep”
“so… you’re taking me to the dorms?”
“nope”
he was so confusing. either way, you kept on following him, even to the elevator where all he did was click the up button. not even a floor number, just the up button. you’ve always wondered where that goes. and now you’re finding out.
the roof. of course it leads to the roof, you’re so stupid. why wouldn’t it lead to the roof?
“what’s got you so quiet over there?” he questioned, picking a spot and setting out yours and his food.
“i’ve just never been up here, is all. i’ve always wondered where the up button took you, of course it’s the roof” you chuckled at yourself a little, before sitting to join jihoon.
“well, where else would it take you?” a smile grew on his face, glancing at you.
“that’s the thing, i don’t know! that’s why i feel so dumb. where else would the up button take you? the land of tigers or something?”
“oh god, soonyoung would love that. if that were a real option, we’d never see him again. either from him not wanting to leave or him getting eaten by a tiger”
the conversation continued on smoothly, as did the rest of the date. there was no one there to listen to or bother the two of you, leaving you guys to talk about any and everything freely.
“you know, i thought you were so pretty when seokmin first introduced us. i think my heart almost stopped” he spoke so casually. the two of you now laid on his jacket together, side by side, looking up at the slowly darkening sky.
“oh… really?” you turned to him, only to see him already looking at you.
“yeah. what about you?” he flipped it onto you.
“well… don’t tell seokmin this but you’ve always been my seventeen bias so i was already over that phase… still nerve-racking to meet you in person, though” you admitted something not even seokmin knew, and it seemed as if he were satisfied with your answer.
“oh really?” he was now laying to face you, you mirroring him.
“of course. you’re lee jihoon, what isn’t there to like about you?” you moved away some of his hair that fell into his face, leaving him to blush and smile dumbly.
“i like you so much, y/n. you honestly have no idea” he confessed quickly, only slightly regretting it.
“you’re right, i don’t. i wouldn’t have even thought you felt anything positive for me until that day”
“really?” he was surprised, as that wasn’t the answer he was expecting.
“mmm… you were always just so focused. any funny business or jokes just didn’t amuse you, i completely thought you hated me until you asked me out”
while jihoon was surprised, the more he thought back on his behavior the more he could see how you felt that way. he had ignored every effort you made to get along it build a friendship because he didn’t want his feelings for you to show.
“i’m sorry i made you think that” and for the first time that night, he took your hand into his.
“it’s okay, jihoon. i know how you truly feel about me now…” you trailed off, squeezing his hand a little.
“i hope one day we can fall in love with each other…” he scooted a little closer to you, having the sudden desire to be in even closer proximity with you, to which you didn’t mind. you wanted to kiss this man every time you saw him.
“if we do… please love me in secret. until we can’t get in trouble”
“if we do… it’s when we do, y/n. when we fall in love, i’ll love you in secret, until it’s safe to go public” he smiled, bringing his free hand up to hold your cheek, thumb rubbing a little bit.
and with that, he kissed you.

try again - chwe hansol
seventeen as romantic tropes - hansol as the one who got away
non idol au, hansol x gn!reader
you dated him once, a couple years ago. some stupid middle school relationship, broke up over some dumb disagreement. the two of you stayed friends though, which in the long run was probably not a good idea.
it was only a matter of time before your feelings for him came back. you were a month after high school graduation, enjoying your freedom together when it started. you look at him back then and compare him to now. he’s the same, but better. you can count every little detail about him that has and hasn’t changed. everything you disliked about him back in middle school had changed for the better, everything you liked about him has stayed them same or, again, changed for the better. you count all the reasons you liked him in middle school and reappointed them to why you fell in love with him post high school.
he was leaving for korea at the end of august, and you knew this. you never really wanted to confess your feelings for him again, only joking about it on your instagram, until word got to him about you liking someone. he bothered you about it for a few weeks and kept pressuring you to confess, always saying shit like “what’s the worse that could happen?” and “even if he doesn’t like you, there’s other people” or “so what if you’re also friends with him? if he was really your friend, he would gently reject you and continue the friendship on like normal. remember us? we went through all the middle school drama just to end up here. think about it, y/n. the pros outweighs the cons”
he knew. he definitely knew. throughout that same night, you should’ve known that he knew. cutting out little paper hearts and giving them to you, telling you all his ideal date ideas, everything he would want to do with his lover. you were so worried about yourself that you couldn’t catch on his hints.
“getting tired?” he chuckled after watching you yawn.
“yeah, think i’m gonna go home now”
“i’ll take you home, don’t worry” he instantly shot up to grab his keys, dragging you along with him.
the car ride back to your house was silent… completely silent. no radio or music, or anything. just completely silence. this wasn’t like hansol. he always drove you home this late at night of course, but he was never this eager to.
“here, have this one too” he handed you another paper heart when he parked outside your home. you looked at him once more before hesitantly accepting it.
“hansol…”
“it’s okay, y/n. i feel the same way.” he took your hand in his, making your heart jump a little bit.
“hansol, i like you”
“i know. i feel the same way” he gave you a gentle smile.
“do you really?”
“yeah, of course. did you not take any of my hints from earlier? from like 30 seconds ago?” he chuckled a little, and you shrugged.
“well i mean… i was a little suspicious but i didn’t want to assume…”
“you’re cute”
“so…”
“so…?”
“well um… do… do you think that we should try again?” you asked, and hansol scolds himself for not being prepared for that question, even though he knows he should’ve.
“yes” he responds after a couple minutes of him thinking.
“okay…”
“it’s late, y/n. let’s talk more about this tomorrow” he sighed, and you nodded, agreeing with him.
“yeah, we should”
“good night, y/n”
“good night, hansol”
you dreaded the text you woke up to.
hansol: hey, y/n. i thought a lot about what i said last night. i was really tired and little overwhelmed and too excited last night. don’t get me wrong, i still feel the same way as you do, i just don’t think we should date again. i know we’re better people and all now, but i just don’t think i’m ready for it. plus, you know i’m leaving at the end of august and i don’t think i can do long distance, especially with that huge time difference. i’m sorry, y/n. i should’ve told you that i needed more time to think after you asked if we should try again. i’m sorry, i really am.
y/n: it’s okay, hansol. really. i understand.
it wasn’t okay to you. of course you respected him, but you couldn’t help but feel a little hurt. just a few weeks of loving him again turned you upside down, and right when everything was starting to look up, the universe stomped on you once more.
one day. maybe one day in the future the two of you can finally try again.

restart - yoon jeonghan
seventeen as romantic tropes - rivals to lovers
high school au, jeonghan x gn!reader
yoon jeonghan. you dreaded hearing the name. ever since the beginning of middle school, he had been tormenting you about how his grades were always better than yours and how he was smarter than you. though, you couldn’t quite call yourself a victim either, as whenever you did better than him, you also rubbed it in his face and told him belittling comments.
it was your final year of high school, and the rivalry was still going strong. everybody knew how much you absolutely despised him, and it was always entertaining for people to watch. the teachers loved it, as it always pushed you two to be the best you could be. it also just happened to be that you two also shared similar interests and career paths, so you almost always ended up in the same classes. jeonghan seemed to enjoy it, but it became hell for you to always have him on your ass about exam and homework scores, like he was just now.
“hey y/n! what’d you get on the gov exam?” he shouted, teasingly swinging an arm over your shoulders.
“101%. what about you?” you shot back while pushing his arm away from you, confident you were going to beat his score.
“102%” he winked, skipping off in front of you, so proud he beat your score.
“you’re an asshole, yoon jeonghan!”
“at least i’m not stupid!”
he was so annoying, he always got on your nerves. every time you saw him, you just wanted to absolutely throw him against the wall and hopefully knock some sense into him, or out of him so he could stop beating your exam scores.
it was coming towards the end of the school year by now, with final exam week nearing. you had given up your extracurricular choir classes to focus on studying for the exams and making sure you pass so you can graduate. also, because jeonghan took the same choir classes as you and you wanted to spend a little less time in his presence. yet, he always found a way to be around you. he followed you everywhere like a lost puppy. seriously, what was this guys deal?
“hey, y/n! whatcha doing?” he asked, a little too happy to see you.
“getting away from you. don’t you understand that you’re the last person i want to be around?” you began to move in the opposite direction of him.
“that’s a little mean, babe. is it because you know i’ll do better than you on finals? or do you just get distracted by my face?” he smirked a little, following your moves.
“yeah, distracted by your ugliness. go away before i slap you”
he put his hands up, but that stupid little smirk never left his face.
“fine. i’ll leave you be. for now” he ran away, only to have you roll your eyes.
“you’re such a child” you called back at him, now happy to have him gone.
“oh my god why won’t you just work!” you shouted at your car, the engine not turning on. you had 4 finals today, there’s no way your car is breaking down.
“turn on!” you groaned, stabbing your finger into the engine button again… only for it to not work. you let out a short scream before getting out of your car, frustrated as you now had to walk to school. you pulled your bag out of the backseat before locking it and setting foot towards your school.
it was a couple minutes before a car pulled up next to you, windows rolled down.
“get in” you hear your least favorite voice speak.
“why would i get in the car with you?” you asked him with a little too much aggression.
“do you want to walk all the way to school and be tired and late?” he questioned back, causing you to groan before getting into his car.
“just don’t kill us i guess” you muttered, putting in your seatbelt.
“a thank you would be nice too, you know. i could’ve left you walking on the side of the road but picked you up because i’m so nice” he nudged you a little, making you slap his arm away.
“so nice my ass…”
“that doesn’t sound like a thank you, y/n” he rose an eyebrow.
“thank you…” you reluctantly muttered out, to which jeonghan grinned, satisfied.
56%. fifty-six percent. that’s what you had gotten on the bio exam. you spent hours upon hours studying for specifically that exam, knowing it was going to be the hardest for you. but you can only sit there, looking at the computer screen in front of you that read 28/50. 56%. you couldn’t even move by the time the final bell rang, your head falling straight onto your desk.
“what’s wrong with you?” you hear jeonghan scoff a little bit, kicking your desk.
“just fucking go away and leave me alone” you replied in the steckest voice you could muster, which wasn’t much.
“you sound like you’re about to cry. what’d you get on the final?” he pushed a little farther.
“i don’t want to talk about it, just go away”
“why? did you get like, a 98%? you know i did better, yeah? i even got the extra credit question too, making it 103%-“
“just go away, jeonghan! i got a fucking 56%! are you happy? all these goddamn years of tormenting me over grades, aren’t you tired of it? aren’t you tired of making me mad? annoyed? we get it, you’re yoon jeonghan. you’re the smartest kid in this school. we get it! just stop rubbing it in my face and leave me alone!”
jeonghan was taken aback by your sudden outburst at him even though he shouldn’t be. he knew all this time he was annoying you, but not this much. to jeonghan, it was a fun little game, and he wasn’t truly aware of how stressed it made you. he flashbacks to every single time you swore at him and told him to leave you alone, misreading your signals. it was his sick way of flirting all this years, showing you how good he is in hopes you’d want him back, but it only made you resent him, and he didn’t see it until now.
“y/n…”
“fuck off, jeonghan” you sniffled, turning your head away from him. he was bold and brave all those times, why couldn’t he be now?
“i’m sorry…”
“i’m sure you are” you laughed dryly at his what you thought to be half-assed apology.
“no, really, y/n, i…” he was running out of words, unsure of what to say. when he didn’t hear you say anything, he said what he felt the best way he could.
you almost jumped out of your skin when you feel jeonghan pulling you into a hug. a part of you wanted to fight him, but the rest of you had no energy to fight, so there you lay. in your rival’s arms. after failing an exam.
“this isn’t so bad” he hums, trying to break the awkward silence.
“you’re pushing it, jeonghan” you spoke in a warning tone, slipping an arm around him. he chuckled a little bit, pulling you in closer.
“would it be cringy to say that i’ve liked you all this time?” jeonghan sharply inhales after saying that, but it was the end of the day and one of the last days you’ll ever be together. unless, you know, you end up at the same college probably majoring in the same thing.
you couldn’t hide your laughter as you looked up at him.
“yes, god yes. that’s absolutely horrible. why would you confess that right here right now? and why was your way of getting my attention annoying me?” all you could do was laugh at him, and jeonghan accepted that. he shrugged, before speaking again.
“can we restart? i’m jeonghan-“
“whoa, i haven’t even agreed to that. i think you might have to convince me a little” you cut him off, to which he just stared at you, unable to say a word.
“okay, kidding. i’m y/n” you offered out your hand to shake, which he accepted.
“cmon, get up. i’ll take you somewhere, anywhere you want” he pulled you up out of your seat, taking a moment to wipe the line tears that escaped.
“anywhere?” you smirked a little, which began to worry jeonghan a little, knowing that even though you were now being nice to him, you still had a lot of shit to hold against him.
“anywhere within reason” he clarified, swinging his arm around you. his heart skipped a little beat when you accepted and didn’t push him away. he walked you out of the classroom, where students still ran around the halls, a few eyes widening once they see you and jeonghan together not arguing over something dumb.
“i guess you’re not so bad when you’re not being annoying” you admitted a little, to which he replied.
“you guess?”
“remind you, we’ve only restarted for like 3 minutes so far. i can take back those 3 minutes” you challenge, to which he throws his free hand up in defense.
“okay okay, you got me there. let’s keep going before someone questions us” he tugs you along to his car, and for once, you didn’t push away and let him.

romantically - kwon soonyoung
seventeen as romantic tropes - soonyoung as the boy who fell first
idol!soonyoung x gn!reader
soonyoung fell for you day 1. the moment chan begrudgingly introduced you to his members after your constant begging, soonyoung knew you were the one for him. he tried his best to hide it, but he actually didn’t. he acted normal around the others, but when it was just you two? he was dumbly love struck.
“y/n, did you get a hair cut?” soonyoung asked, reached out to brush through your hair with his fingers.
“oh, yeah. i’m surprised you noticed! chan told me i looked the same” you giggled a little bit, already used to soonyoung’s ‘platonic and friendly’ skinship.
“really? you look different to me - not in a bad way, i swear! you look really pretty. even prettier than before. i swear, you become more beautiful everyday” he stared at you with a foolish smile on his face.
“thank you, soonyoung” you blushed a little.
“ooh, i wonder how it would look if you styled it like this…” he stepped closer, now bringing your hair in his hands to tie it up in the way he pictured. he always kept hair ties on his wrist now, just incase you needed one. of course you thought it was the sweetest thing ever, but you were still evermore oblivious.
“there! it’s cute” his hands now rested in your shoulders to look at his work.
“i would sure hope so, i don’t need another person always messing up my hair like my brother”
“oh, y/n? when did you arrive?” seungkwan walks into the room, getting two seconds to observe the situation before soonyoung puts a good amount of space between the two of you.
“oh, just a few minutes ago. i was showing soonyoung my new hair, does it look nice?” you showed off to seungkwan, and he raised an eyebrow at soonyoung.
“y/n… no offense, but i literally do not see a difference” he chuckled, gears turning in his head.
“chan said that too! soonyoung said he could see it! are we both blind?” you turn to soonyoung for the last part.
“no, soonyoung is just an… observant man and probably spends more time looking at you than the rest of us” seungkwan spoke with a cheeky grin. soonyoung sent him a look you couldn’t quite decipher, but decided it wasn’t important.
“how come you only took me and not the others?” you questioned, watching him set up the blanket on the grass.
“just didn’t want to. wanted to spend some time with you, that’s all” he looked up with a cute smile, motioning you to come sit with him on the laid-out blanket.
“but why? what’s so special about me?” you pushed, and you could see soonyoung struggle for an answer that wouldn’t expose him. though, he didn’t do too good of a job with that.
“you just are. you make me happy, and being in your presence makes me safe. i like how you let me play with your hair, it comforts me. i like to look at your pretty eyes, to hug you. it feels like you were an angel sent down from heaven to protect me. you know?” he rambled on a little bit, making you blush and lean your head on his shoulder.
“yeah i guess… you make me feel the same way too. but what if the other members get suspicious? what if they think something weird?”
“nobody really cares about them. at least i don’t, not when i have you next to me” he lays his head on top of yours.
“chan, i think i like soonyoung”
“oh thank god! you finally admit it!” chan damn near screams at the top of his lungs.
“shut up! what if he hears? what if he doesn’t like me back? be quiet!” you covered his mouth, and he just looked at you with wide eyes.
“y/n you cannot be serious right now…”
“what do you mean? i’m being completely serious, i swear!”
“soonyoung? not liking you back?” he questions, raising an eyebrow at you.
“well, yeah! i don’t know if he does or not!” you argued, confused as to why chan was making fun of you.
“oh, my sweet little sibling… i love you. i really do, which is why i’m telling you to go tell soonyoung how you feel” he gave you what felt like a backhanded hug with false sweet words.
“are you serious? right now? no!”
“y/n, i would never set you up for failure on purpose. i promise, go talk to him” chan patted your head once more before shoving you of the the room and down the hallway, where soonyoung was doing his own thing.
you knocked on the door and he jumped a little bit, obviously startled, but still smiled and excitedly waved you in.
“hey y/n! what are you doing here?” he cheered, making his way over to you.
“i want to talk to you about something…” you muttered, and he instantly sensed the seriousness in your voice and got himself together.
“oh, of course. what’s up?” he asked, throwing his towel to the side.
“well, um, i… well… i think… uh…”
“do you need a moment?” he asked, moving a piece of hair out of your face.
“no no it’s fine it’s just that like, you know, um…”
“take your time, y/n” he smiled gently.
“i like you, soonyoung”
it was silent for a few moments before he spoke.
“finally” he grinned widely, taking you into his arms.
“w…what do you mean finally?” you asked, slowly hugging him back.
“y/n, i’ve been in love with you since forever. you couldn’t tell? i thought i was being so obvious” he rocked back and forth a little bit.
“oh… i don’t know. i thought you were just being friendly and that’s how you were” you shrugged a little.
“i guess… but even after all the times i called you beautiful? my angel? the prettiest person in the world? you couldn’t catch on then?” he asked, a slight teasing tone in his voice.
“shut up…” you groaned, hiding in his chest.
“it‘s okay, love. better late then never. i love you, y/n. romantically. and i forever will”

young love - joshua hong
seventeen as romantic tropes - high school sweethearts
some high school au, idol joshua x gn!reader ish?
you started dating joshua the summer after freshman year. the two of you were young, dumb, and foolishly ‘in love’.
you met him in your guitar class elective, him being assigned as your partner for the semester. he was the same as he is now; sweet, gentle, patient, and always knew how to bring you to comfort using his words. he always made you feel safe and secure, even just as your guitar partner. you cheeks would heat up whenever he got a little closer and gently arranged your fingers on the fingerboard to form the right chord, taking your other hand in his to help you strum.
“see? isn’t it easier?” he giggled, watching you repeatedly strum the new chord you learned to play.
it had been like that the entire semester. you were falling - had fallen - so deeply for joshua hong, you couldn’t handle it anymore. you had absolutely no idea if he felt the same, but it being the last day of school before summer break, you decided to go for it.
“h-hey, joshua…” you sat next to him in your assigned seat.
“hey y/n, what’s up?” he asked, instantly noticing something off.
“oh nothing, i just had something i wanted to ask you, you know, if you’re fine with it”
“of course i am. when have i never been okay with you asking questions?” he smiled, giving your shoulder and friendly pat.
“i don’t know, well, okay… i was wondering if you like, i don’t know, maybe wanted to go out with me?” he asked quietly, but you know he heard it because of the way he looked at you, the same way he looks whenever he’s processing what you say.
“i thought you’d never ask, y/n. of course i do” he smiled widely, taking your hand in his.
“text me a date, time, and place. i’ll be there, i promise”
that was the very beginning. you lasted through the summer with him becoming your boyfriend, and all your friends were surprised at the beginning of sophomore year when you finally told them about the relationship.
people change throughout high school, it’s a common knowledge. but joshua, joshua on the other hand, he didn’t change one bit. okay, that was a lie. throughout the years you dated him, you watched him grow into himself, grow into a better person. he became even sweeter, kinder, and overall and lovely person to be in the presence of.
“you doing okay over there, babe?” he asked from the foot of your bed.
“yeah, good enough i guess. chemistry is just kicking my ass, though” you sighed, throwing your pencil down.
“oh, i think i still have my sisters old chem notes from when she was in 10th grade. let me find them” he instantly turned to his bag and dug around, and you watched him with a gentle smile on your face.
“oh i found them - here! hopefully these should help. my sister was really good at note taking” he hands you the obviously old papers with colorful and organized vocabulary and definitions.
“you’re the best, shua” you lean over to press a kiss to his cheek.
“i try. also, you missed” he gives you a cheeky smirk.
“missed? what did i miss?” you asked, only a little confused.
“i said… you missed” he points towards his lips.
“joshua, i’m not having my first kiss with you in my bedroom over chemistry homework” you folded your arms, and he rolled his eyes.
“whatever, i tried. i’m going to kiss you this week, you’ll see” he sent you a cheeky wink and went back to his homework, leaving you to ponder upon what his plans were.
he kept his promise.
the boardwalk was oddly empty for a friday night, though most people do tend to visit and leave at sunset. you and joshua though - it was nearing 1am and your phone buzzed with missed calls and texts from your parents, but you couldn’t care less.
he held you under the stars, gazing out into the pacific. your head resting comfortably on his shoulder, the two of you sharing body heat.
“y/n…” he called gently, making you hum and look up at him. he held eye contact, and it wasn’t awkward like it had been with others. it was gentle, loving, and comforting. he brought a hand to rest on your jaw, tilting your head up just a little more, eyes dropping down to your slightly parted lips, anticipating his next move.
he leans in slightly before speaking, “can i kiss you?” you feel his breath on your lips. you could only mutter a small ‘yes’ before he closes the gap. it was perfect, the perfect first kiss. it felt like a fairytale, even though neither of you knew how to kiss back then.
“i love you, joshua. don’t you know?” you pulled back to whisper, leading to his small chuckle.
“i think you’ll need to tell me again, and maybe just a couple more times after that to be sure. i love you more, y/n”
junior year is when joshua left. you respected his dreams of being a kpop idol of course, who were you to stop him? joshua was so in love with you, you knew that if you asked him, he would stay for you. you knew that if you asked him, he would give up his dreams to stay for you. joshua would do anything for you, it was your selflessness that made him happy.
“i passed the audition” he announced, holding your hands in his.
“oh my, that’s good, isn’t it? i’m so proud of you, shua” you smiled, taking one of your hands to cup his face.
“i’ll have to leave, you know? leave you, leave the school, leave this all behind” his voice had dropped to a whisper and he instinctively leaned into your palm.
“i know, shua. i know” you brought your other hand to his other cheek, bringing him in to rest his forehead on yours.
“i don’t want to leave you, y/n” he mumbles, pressing a short kiss to your lips.
“i don’t want you to leave either”
“y/n”
“what’s up?”
“if you want me to stay… just say the words and i’ll stay” his arms wrap around your waist.
“shua… we both know what i want…” you sighed, knowing joshua was going to be a little stubborn about this.
“then i’ll stay”
“no, joshua. you should go. i want you to go” you pushed, shaking your head a bit.
“you… want me to leave?”
“shua, don’t get me wrong, okay? i want you to stay. i love you, i love you so much and just thinking about being away from you breaks me inside. but, this is your dream. i want you to be happy-“
“but you make me happy”
“i know, josh. but, people come and go. the opportunity to chase your dreams doesn’t come everyday. once you’re out there and famous, you’ll have everybody falling at your feet. people like me come and go. dreams stay, and i want you to chase your dreams. i don’t want to be in the way of your dreams”
“y/n…”
“if i have to be the one to do the breaking up, then i will. i’ll still see you off at the airport, but you need to start thinking of yourself now. just know, i’ll always support you, okay?” you pressed a small kiss to his nose, and he nodded.
“joshua hong”
“y/n?”
“i’m breaking up with you”
and that was it. the best relationship you started and ended. you never met anybody else better than joshua. no matter how many dates you’ve gone on, nobody ever stood a chance to joshua. but you’re happy.
now, you’re able to turn on the tv and see your high school sweetheart on tv, happy, and living his dream.
it hurt. it hurt so bad breaking up with him. it hurt seeing him off at the airport, the last time you ever saw him; in person at least. but you’re happy.

mario kart set up - choi seungcheol
genre: fluff, non idol!au
seventeen as romantic tropes - seungcheol as your best friend’s older brother
you laid awake in your best friend’s bed as she slept next to you peacefully. every time you were at her house now, it always felt like you were there for the wrong reason. of course you adored your best friend so much and you loved spending time with her in her home, there’s just another family member who’s also on your list of people you’d like to see. that family member being her older brother, seungcheol.
it was wrong. it felt so wrong to be having a conversation with your friend, and your mind begins to drift off into another world where seungcheol was yours. another world where they weren’t related, and it would be okay for you two to have a relationship. another world where he’d look at you as not his little sister’s best friend. it was wrong to lay next to your best friend as you think about her older brother in the next room. it was wrong laying next to her as you thought about laying in his strong arms, how you’d affectionately kiss his neck before going to sleep, how you’d make it a routine to give each other forehead kisses before sleeping. it was wrong, but why did you love it so much?
with your mouth drying up from the deep breaths and sighs, you made your way down into the kitchen, getting yourself a glass of water. you pondered to yourself for a bit, what if he came down here? what if he talked to me?
you got your hopes up, but even after waiting a few minutes and hearing nothing, you eventually gave up and headed back up the stairs. the dark hallway was suddenly lit up with the dim yellow light coming from the bathroom as the door opened, seungcheol stepping out of it.
“oh my- i’m so sorry” you whispered, immediately covering your eyes.
“oh, don’t worry, it’s fine. why are you up, anyways?” you hear him flick the light switch off, causing you to carefully uncover your eyes.
“i just couldn’t sleep is all” you shrugged, slowly dropping your hands from your face. you had deemed it safe enough to see. you could still make out his buff and toned figure, but there were no visible details to view, making you sad yet grateful he wouldn’t have to see you like this.
“so you decided to walk the house and catch your best friend’s older brother half naked?” he joked a bit, and although you picked up on it and even heard the humorous tone he had, the comment still sent you into a slightly defensive mode.
“i- no! no i promise i didn’t mean to! i just went down to go get water and as i was coming back up you just kinda happened to be here, you know? i promise i wasn’t purposely trying to see you shirtless i-“
“whoa whoa y/n calm down, i was joking. with someone like you, i really don’t care” he chuckled a little at your reaction, taking a towel to his hair.
“anyways, it’s late and you should really get some sleep. especially before my sister wakes up. you’re her best friend, who should know how it goes” he made his way over to his room to walk in and shut the door, but not before popping his head out for one last word,
“good night, y/n” he called lowly before shutting the door to his room.
“good night, seungcheol” you whispered back, even though he couldn’t hear it before shutting the door to your best friend’s room, reclaiming your spot in bed.
unbeknownst to you, seungcheol had immediately pressed his ear against his door to catch anything you would say, and barely, just barely, heard the quiet whispers of a good night back, making him smile and blush wildly.
-
it was just two days before you were back over at your friends house again, this time sitting in the living room playing mario kart. you couldn’t deny the two of you were being extremely loud, with shouts and screams of excitement, shoving each other every time one overtook the other.
“god, what is going on down here?” seungcheol pokes his head from the stairs to see what was happening.
“i’m kicking y/n’s ass at mario kart, that’s what!” your best friend lied and you instantly defended yourself -
“excuse me? i’ve beat you three times in a row by now! if anything, i’m kicking your ass!” you fired back with a rough shove towards her, making her lose her 3rd place spot.
“y/n!” she shouted, trying to get you back, but you’d dodged just in time.
“do you wanna play?” you asked seungcheol. your best friend looked at you with a questionable expression, as the two of you never let seungcheol in on any of your mischief, no matter how much he asked.
“i thought you’d never ask” he smiled, taking a seat next to you, and not his sister.
“cheol, take over for me. i’m going to go find another remote” she handed the controller over to seungcheol, getting up to find a third controller in her room.
“i’m going to beat you by the way, y/n. just cause my sister is bad doesn’t mean i’m bad” he gives you a little smirk, a little smirk that distracts you a bit too much before turning his attention to the tv, now easily taking your first place spot with you distracted.
“oh you little…”
“little what, hm? finish that sentence, babe” he nudged you a little bit as the controller felt loose in your grip. babe?
“you’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?” you asked, trying to get your head back in the game.
“don’t you like it?” he now pat your thigh with one of his hands, easily guiding his character over the finish line with the other.
“seungcheol… we… i… can’t…” you whispered, the game now forgotten.
“my sister doesn’t have to know, if that’s what you’re referring to, by the way. she doesn’t have to know anything” he spoke in an attractively low voice.
“you’re bad, don’t you know?”
“you’re even worse, liking your best friend’s older brother?”
“seungcheol, you make it sound like we’re 20 years apart or something” you pushed his shoulder a little bit.
“you’re cute. dinner tonight at 7? i’ll pick you up” he ‘asked’ but it was more of a request that you just couldn’t deny him of.
“okay…”
“hey guys i’m back, i couldn’t find another controller” your best friend came back just in time, plopping down in the same spot next to you.
“doesn’t matter, i just beat y/n for you. you’re welcome, by the way” he hands the controller back, getting up from the couch.
“leaving already?” your best friend questions, and he just shrugs.
“i’ve got older brother things to do… like taking your best friend out to dinner” he winked before heading back up to his room, leaving you to face your best friend and she gaping jaw.

things most writers love in the fanfic community:
messages!!
likes!!!
reblogs!!!!
REBLOGS WITH COMMENTS IN THE TAGS!!!!!
C O M M E N T S ! ! ! ! ! !
an emoji spam in their inbox describing how the story made you feel!!
pointing out a particular scene in the story that had an impact on you emotionally
when you understand updates take time and you don’t pressure the writer!!
telling the writer in which ways you connect with the characters
AN ABUNDANCE OF FIRE EMOJIS IN RESPONSE TO A PARTICULAR SAUCY SCENE
“please remember to take care of yourself”
describing to the writer all the ways you are currently suffering because of a story (we love you, but we love when you squirm)
THE HEART EMOJI SPAM
also, crying emojis, even if we feel a bit guilty.
asking about certain details to a particular au, wanting to know more, SHOWING INTEREST ! !
“take your time with the next update”
understanding that writers are humans and not fanfic writing machines sitting behind a computer
understanding that you are in no way bothering writers by sending feedback. you aren’t going to look silly, even if you’re shy. for some writers, it is that little bit of motivation and encouragement to pump out that last scene and get the chapter posted. and for some, it gives a reason to continue posting in the first place.
understanding that if you enjoy a story, you should tell the writer.
and also understanding there’s a difference in showing enthusiasm for the next part, and demanding an update.
and knowing that your feedback can really brighten a writer’s day, and sometimes the message you send will be the ONLY message they receive for the story, so please don’t hesitate showing appreciation for the story you read and loved. if you don’t, you can’t complain when the writer loses motivation to stop posting, even if you loved their work.
