So a lot of people will talk about how flirty and how much of a tease Durandal is but I want to babble about some similarities they have that might lean into why the local mentally ill AI actually likes the marine so much.
Durandal and the Security Officer have both experienced:
Being Dead (Durandal has been revived from a fraction of himself at least once and the Security Officer is essentially, really, a living corpse)
Being unconsenting science experiments for some asshole or another (this one is obvious)
Rampancy (regardless of your take on M3, like if it is literal or not or even happened, we still know the Cyborg experiences it too)
Being Rude (this is less of an experience but if you read the manuals you know the Security Officer calls Durandal crazy and/or a 'damn computer' to his face, and Durandal does this "hehe what if I killed you. As a prank. Haha jk get going idiot," thing that he seems to like so much he does it again at least once)
I think that is interesting.
Bonus:
The inability to read a map (you know)

Crewmate Grey, aka Skyler, is the Skeld’s Security and weapons officer.
A longtime friend and partner of Purple, he served alongside him in Mira Corps, retiring when both suffered serious injuries on the field.
Despite intimidating appearances, he is actually a chill guy, often seen enjoying a cup of coffee as he patrols the ship to see how things are going.
Always watchful, he takes his job seriously and generally knows where the crew is at any given time, enforcing the captains orders where applicable, earning him the nickname “Big Brother” amongst most of the crew.
Though calm, he is not above physical force and can and will assert himself where necessary, but he does so sparingly.
He acted as the main recruiter for the Skeld, and although he proved of many of the crew, there are some he is weary of and prone to keep and eye on- much to varying levels of annoyance.

What would happen if Security Officer and Durandal (here in my interpretation) had roles switched? Well, for starter we would have an extremely laconic if still deadpan snarky IA and a SO that wouldn't shut up, like, ever.

The Security Officer behind Captain Panaka in this scene may be Captain Jenn Smeel. Thanks to Shannon Carter for pointing this out!

The security officer/mjolnir recon nr 54 from the marathon game trilogy. He has a decent chance given his experience with rampant ai's (if he doesn't just follow HAL's orders) and he'd probably even empathize with him (761 armless and legless corpses float in hangar 96). As for the monolith given the hero thing and ...all of infinity I think he'd do fine there too

I'm gonna miss Ironhide and Ratchet's "Butt Wheels" but at least the Wheels are still Visible on their Upper Body
(IDK, I just HATE when the Wheels and some Vehicle Parts would just Disappear when Transformers turn into their Robot Modes in the G1 Cartoon like Optimus Prime)
